Snow Din is my twelfth "24-hour album" intended to meet the constraints of the Album-A-Day project. It is an an instrumental album, written and recorded in about 6 hours on January 4, 2009.
It is presented here as 53 separate tracks, although the original recording is continuous for 60 minutes, an effect you can recreate by playing them in order if your mp3 player is smart, possibly by using the "stream all" link.
The album is essentially entirely improvised. I began the process by playing the bass non-stop for 60 minutes (during which I would periodically advance to the next effect on my bass multi-effects pedal, having no idea what that would be). Then I recorded a single drum performace that was 60 minutes long. Then I recorded a single track of guitar (although it was actually several separate 10-20 minute takes totalling an hour). A significant amount of judicious editing was applied to the drums to correct errors in them, or to resynchronize them to the bass in places where the bass screwed up or changed unpredictably.
It is awfully noodly.
