Visibility in the boardroom was almost zero due to the smoke.
"Then we're agreed," rasped Hendricks around his cigar.  "The
space program will have to be scuttled."

"But *subtly*!" chimed in Orr.  "Our hand in this matter can
never be discovered."  A chorus of agreement rose from around
the table.

"An accident, then," suggested Hendricks.  "Something catastrophic?"

Lowell pored over the plans.  "Should be easy."

"How many expendable astronauts do we have?"

Myers consulted a clipboard.  "Six."

"Get a seventh," ordered Hendricks, inhaling smoke deeply.  "I
don't care where.  A civilian, maybe."

"For that personal touch," added Orr.  Hilarity ensued.
