NIGHT OF THE CIVIL DEAD (3 of 3)

The White House, Oval Office:  "We can't spare more food,"  
complains the President.  "We'll starve ourselves!  Give
me options."

"Grease 'em!" bellows General Breem, who is swiftly pinched
and cuffed into silence.

"They've been overwhelmingly polite, sir," muses the Veep.
"What if we refuse to feed them?"

"You mean....starve the Dead?"

"Why not?"

Police blanketed the streets, megaphoning instructions to
the citizens: DO NOT FEED THE DEAD! IT WILL ONLY ENCOURAGE
THEM.  Pedestrians frostily ignored undead entreaties for
sweetmeats.  Eventually the ghouls, stomachs grumbling,
retreated back to their crumbling graves.

On the comet's next pass, it was greeted with warheads.
