VOYEURS

Her cigarette had transformed into a thin rope of ash.  The
sense-rig on her shaved head tickled where the leads touched her
skin.

"One megacredit, Miss Bollard," said the unctuous man in 
grey. "One megacredit towards your son's operation.  He
could be a healthy little boy.  He might even walk again."

"Why?" she asked, after a long pause.

"People are voyeurs by nature, Miss Bollard.  They want to
experience and feel things -- things they wouldn't do themselves."
He giggled, incongruously.  "Some things might surprise you."

She frowned.  "Like hell.  Let's do this."

The drill sounded tinny in the enclosed room.
