WINDSHIELD
**********

The clipboard was never meant to do this job. Raye cursed as
she fumbled with the object, damning her bulky gloves. The
clipboard's edge was smashing the ice off the windshield, but
it was slow going.

Raye had lived in Vermont. Every morning she had scraped her
truck's windows. This was different.

The mistake was hers. She had taken the rover north to the
icecap edge, and night had fallen too quickly. Now, with the
oxygen running low, Nature played this little trick.

Two billion dollars for a Mars expedition, grumbled Raye, and
they can't afford a damn ice scraper.
