Ummmm, actually . . . it's been done already.

John Adams, an American minmalist composer, wrote _Nixon in China_ in
1987 (it was nominated for a grammy in 1988...).  I've got the vinyl
sitting at home.

If that's not ironic enough, Adams was serious.
