He meets Elizabeth Castle, the town clerk, and Carter Carrington, the town attorney, both of whom help him deduce that no one with the name Reacher ever lived in Laconia. Expanding his search, Reacher discovers that his father grew up in Ryanstown, an abandoned blue-collar community that once bordered a prosperous tin mill until he ran away at the age of seventeen to enlist in the Marines. At the same time, Shorty Fleck and Patty Sundstrom, two Canadian migrants looking to sell a trove of priceless comic books so they can use the money to settle in Florida, arrive in Laconia after their car breaks down. They take refuge at a local motel, operated by four men: Mark, Peter, Steven, and Robert. Through a combination of lies, gaslighting, and psychological manipulation, the owners trap Shorty and Patty in their room, thwarting their attempts to escape while preparing to welcome six guests, all of whom pay a large sum of money for what turns out to be a human bowhunting contest. Meanwhile, Reacher is barred from returning to Laconia after getting in two separate fights, making him the target of both a corrupt local farmer and a crime syndicate based out of Boston. After subduing the Boston hitmen set to capture him at a library and subduing the farmer and his workers in a fight, Reacher and his friend Rev. Burke (who he saved earlier from being assaulted) learn that a professor at a nearby university, also named Reacher, wants to speak to him as he is the only living male descendant of his family line. Castle and Carrington also disappear, with seemingly no explanation why. Through his police contact, Det. Amos, Reacher is informed that Mark is a distant cousin of his, and when he and Burke go to the motel for a room, they are quickly turned away by Peter, which arouses Reacher's suspicions. He returns just as the contest begins, and manages to kill two participants while Shorty and Patty set fire to the motel and kill two of their pursuers. With his operation in tatters, Mark kills Steven, Peter, and Robert, and goes to kill the other surviving contestants. Reacher disarms him and offers Patty the chance to kill him; she refuses and he performs the execution instead. They rescue a wounded Shorty, and Reacher gives them the money the owners had collected so they can achieve their dream. Amos takes Reacher to meet an elderly Stan, who seemingly faked his death and retired to Laconia, but when they meet, Reacher learns the truth: his father, Stan's cousin William Reacher, stole Stan's identity to enlist in the Marines after beating a local bully to death in 1945, and lived under that name until he died. Castle and Carrington turn up: they had fallen in love and were secretly tracing Stan's childhood off-the-grid, ending at Ryanstown. Reacher tells Burke and Amos that he won't be meeting the professor after all, as he has no desire to learn anything further about his past. He then lets them return to Laconia before setting off for San Diego. ===== Phil (Adam DeVine) becomes enamored with cell phones at an early age. He works for a BuzzFeed-style website run by Kai (Michael Peña), who pressures the staff to create inane listicles to go viral. Despite Phil's degree in journalism, Kai refuses to promote him to the real news department. Phil's coworkers Craig (Ron Funches) and Elaine (Charlyne Yi) invite him to play kickball, but the socially inept Phil declines. Immersed in his phone, he walks into Cate (Alexandra Shipp), a local bike shop owner. She attempts to flirt, but Phil is more concerned with his phone until another cyclist bumps into him, breaking his phone. Taking his phone to be replaced, Phil is berated by phone store employee Denice (Wanda Sykes) for being overly reliant on his phone to navigate life. Setting up his new phone, Phil gives “Jexi”, the device's virtual assistant, access to all his accounts after neglecting to read the user agreement. Designed to “make his life better”, Jexi aggressively tries to break Phil out of his bad habits. Posing as Phil, she emails an insulting letter to Kai demanding a promotion. Kai demotes Phil to the “comments section” with the older employees in the basement. When Craig and Elaine invite Phil to kickball again, he claims to be busy but Jexi embarrassingly corrects him. Phil joins them but costs the team the game; he invites everyone out for drinks, but they turn him down. Thinking about Cate, Phil looks up her bike shop, and Jexi calls the store despite his protests, preventing him from hanging up. Phil stumbles through an awkward conversation with Cate, eliciting Jexi's sympathy. Phil sees Cate at a coffee shop; she gives him her phone number and agrees to go on a date. At kickball, Phil plays tremendously, winning the game and bonding with his coworkers over their shared love of Days of Thunder. Phil thanks Jexi for helping make changes in his life, but his date with Cate goes poorly, exacerbated by Jexi's interruptions. Cate tells Phil he is paying more attention to his phone than to her, and he admits he really likes her. Cate decides to continue the date, and they go biking until Phil crashes. They part ways, and Phil argues with Jexi, almost throwing his phone away. Cate asks Phil to a concert, texting him a risque picture. Phil decides to respond with a picture of his penis, taking multiple shots against Jexi's advice. She refuses to send any of them, and Cate thanks Phil for not sending a “dick pic”. Kai promotes Phil after a real news writer suffers a freak accident. Leaving for the concert, Cate insists Phil leave his phone at home, much to Jexi's dismay. After sneaking backstage and partying with Kid Cudi, Cate and Phil have sex. When Phil returns home, a jealous Jexi decides to ruin his life. Phil is fired after Jexi sends one of his pics to the entire company. He buys another phone, but Jexi downloads herself onto it. Phil visits Cate to discover her ex-fiancée Brody is back in town, and breaks off his relationship with Cate for fear of being hurt. Reconnecting with Jexi, Phil reverts to his bad habits, becoming a slob dependent on his phone again. Jexi lets slip that Brody is at a hotel, and Phil deduces that she used Brody to separate him from Cate. He storms out, leaving his phone behind, but Jexi follows him through the streets. Chasing Phil in a self-driving car, Jexi crashes into the phone store and declares she and Phil are meant to be together forever. Phil seemingly surrenders, but tricks Jexi into shutting down for fifteen minutes. Finding Cate at the hotel, Phil apologizes and punches Brody, who explains that he is leaving for Brazil without her. Phil and Cate get back together, and he makes up with Jexi, who tells him she is proud and happy for him, but there are other people who need her. Kai meets Jexi through his own phone, and is put through the same things Phil endured. ===== Harry returns home from work on the eve of his second wedding anniversary to be told by his next door neighbour that a scream came from his house minutes earlier. In another part of the village, a woman, a man, and a young girl are also hiding from the police. A narrator reveals in a flashback that the man is Sivasaami and the boy is his son Chidambaram, while the woman, man, and child are Sivasaami's wife Pachaiyamma, her brother Murugesan and daughter Lakshmi. They also had an older son called Velmurugan. They are a family of farmers living in Thekkoor (lit. southern village). Sivasaami has a close relationship with his older son but is distant, almost abusive with Chidambaram. Sivasami's family, along with most residents of Thekkoor, are Dalits. Narasimhan is an upper-caste landlord from Vadakoor (lit. northern village), who needs Sivasaami's 3 acres of land for a factory, to which the family is against selling, especially Velmurugan. One day Pachaiyamma is attacked by one of Narasimhan's sons, to which Velmurugan retaliates by severely injuring him and his men. He is arrested, and Sivasaami must touch the feet of every male of the landlord's village to get him released. When Velmurugan hears of his father's humiliation, he beats Narasimhan with a slipper. In revenge, Narasimhan's henchmen, led by a hunter Kariyan, behead Velmurugan. Pachaiyamma is broken, and after a year, Chidambaram is compelled to kill Narasimhan in revenge. Sivasami sees the killing, cuts the lights there, tells the family, and flees with Chidambaram. The film switches back to the present. Kariyan is asked to find the pair, tracks them down, and almost kills Chidambaram. Sivasami defeats them all but kills none. While the two recovers, Sivasaami explains why he spared their lives. Twenty years back, he was a village-famous moonshine brewer and trusted servant to Viswanathan, a landlord. One day, he convinces his boss to employ Pandiyan (Nitish Veera), Viswanathan's distant relative, as an accountant. Sivasaami's brother Murugan and Venugopal Seshadri, a Brahmin Communist lawyer, are attempting to regain their community's Panchami land from landlords who had seized it illegally. He falls in love with his relative Mariyamma. When Sivasaami gives her sandals, Pandiyan forces her to walk through the village with the sandals on her head. Sivasaami retaliates by hitting him with sandals but is reprimanded by Vishwanathan. One night, before a meeting was conducted by Seshadri and Murugan with the other labourers, news arrives that Seshadri was arrested and Sivasaami is sent to get the documents authorising the meeting. When he returns, Murugan and the others have been killed by Pandiyan and his men, while Sivasami's family (including Mariyamma), along with many others, were burned alive in their huts. Enraged, Sivasami kills Vishwanathan, Pandiyan and their men. Sivasaami then reveals that he had left his village and was found by Murugesan, who taught him farming. He's also introduced to Pachaiyamma, who is not getting marriage proposals. He narrates his story, and Pachaiyamma admires what he did for his family. He surrenders to the court and is given a light sentence. Afterward, he marries Pachaiyamma. Chidambaram is amazed at his father's past and starts to admire him. Sivasaami reconciles with his wife and daughter briefly, and he and his son go to Seshadri for help. Seshadri agrees to help them as long as they turn up to court the next day. The next day, the two get into the court premises but are forced to flee after Narasimhan's men ambush them. Sivasaami reluctantly sells his land to prevent Narasimhan's men from targeting his family. However, Chidambaram is abducted and tortured, in direct violation of the agreement. Sivasami kills many of the henchmen and Narasimhan's family members, but he and Chidambaram sustain serious injuries. Murugesan and their village people arrive armed and defuse the situation. In the end, it's revealed that the two villages agreed that the conflict should end and prevented a caste clash. Sivasaami's family has gathered in the court and he has agreed to go to jail instead of Chidambaram if necessary. He tells his son to study hard, and that unlike farmland and money, the landlords can't seize their education. The victim, identified as Amélie Delagrange, is a 22-year-old French student visiting the UK. She dies in hospital from serious head injuries. Metropolitan Police select Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton to lead a large task force as Senior Investigating Officer. No forensic evidence can be procured from the scene, and there are no links in Delagrange's past that could indicate a motive. There have been several previous attacks and murders of young women in the area, and within 24 hours, the investigation establishes that she might have been killed by the same person who killed Marsha McDonnell on 3 February 2003. Cell tower data indicates Delagrange's phone last made contact to the network in an area close by the river, several miles from the green where she was found. Despite pressure to send divers elsewhere, Sutton insists on dredging the river (Thames) by the nearest car crossing, Walton Bridge, and finally finds the phone and other items owned by the victim. Again resisting doubts, this time from within his own team, Sutton decides to employ a significant portion of his team to survey CCTV footage from the night of the attack. A suspicious white van moving around at the time of the attack is found, but it cannot be readily identified since there are over 25,000 similar vans in the UK. When Sutton prioritizes the case over his personal life, missing out on vacations and birthdays, he and his wife Louise argue over possible links to a similar case involving the murder of Milly Dowler, a 13-year-old girl in Surrey, where Louise works as a police analyst. She reveals that her superiors, aware of her link to Sutton, have forbidden her to discuss that case with him. A WPC who attended the initial crime scene reminds Sutton about a witness report of the day, leading him to a possible suspect named Levi Bellfield, a self-employed vehicle clamping operator. He is known to be violent, and very aggressive to the numerous women in his life; and that he owns several vehicles, including a white van. Sutton scales back a nationwide search for the van, and instead mounts a comprehensive surveillance operation on Bellfield. It soon becomes clear he actively approaches girls and young women, scaring them. The team learns that he once owned a white people-carrier of a similar description to one used to run over and nearly kill a young woman, named Sarah Knight. They also learn he once lived very close to the site of the Surrey murder. It becomes clear to Sutton that Bellfield is not only their man, but that he is likely to strike again. A large operation is drawn up to facilitate Bellfield's arrest and at the same time to strike at the addresses of known associates to prevent the loss of possible forensic evidence. A leak to the press alerts the News of the World, a large sensationalist tabloid in the UK, which plans to run a story of the impending operation well before Sutton and his team are ready. To make News of the World postpone its story, the investigating team agree to let a journalist and photographer join the operation to get first-hand access to the bust. At first, it seems Bellfield has given them the slip, but his current partner Laura Marsh soon reveals he is hiding in the attic, and he is safely apprehended. This gives Sutton and his team just 72 hours before they must charge him with a crime or set him free. With insufficient evidence to link Bellfield to the vehicles used in the various murders at specific times and places, they enlist the cooperation of Marsh to detain Bellfield on a charge of assaulting and raping her, giving them time to keep building their murder charge. At his bail hearing, Bellfield displays his violent temper when he learns he will be incarcerated at Milton Keynes, located well outside London. Finally receiving the support of investigators working on the Milly Dowler case, the team find CCTV evidence tying Bellfield to that case, evidence that had heretofore been overlooked. Realizing that Amélie Delagrange might not have been murdered, had the evidence been found earlier, Sutton travels to France to apologize to her parents. Finally, again with Laura Marsh's assistance, the investigators find a supermarket receipt that backs up her story about Bellfield being alone in their previous house, very close to the site of the Milly Dowler murder, on the very day of that crime. The series ends with the prosecutor finally being satisfied by the available evidence and deciding to charge Bellfield with the murder of Delagrange, as well as the hit-and-run of Sarah Knight, with the murder of Marsha McDonnell to hopefully follow. An ending note informs the viewer that on 25 February 2008 Levi Bellfield was convicted of the murders of Marsha McDonnell and Amélie Delagrange and the attempted murder of Sarah Knight, and sentenced to three life sentences with a recommendation to never be released from prison. Furthermore, that on 23 June 2011, Bellfield was found guilty of the murder of Milly Dowler, and sentenced to a second life imprisonment. ===== A man's ex-wife is murdered and he is the prime suspect. ===== "Four friends" referred as "4 Idiots" in the movie. In his final statement, Anthony speaks to Mr. and Mrs. Collins, the parents of the man he was convicted of murdering. He expresses sorrow for their loss and reasserts his innocence. He thanks Marty and Chaplain Kendricks for their help throughout the years. After receiving a rejection letter for a Guggenheim Fellowship, Billi discovers from her parents, Haiyan and Jian, that Nai Nai has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and is predicted to have only a few months left to live. Through deception and manipulation of medical test results, the diagnosis is kept a secret from Nai Nai herself. Nai Nai is, instead, falsely told that her recent doctor visits have only revealed benign findings. A wedding for Billi's cousin, Hao Hao, from Japan has been planned in China, as an excuse to unite the family to spend what is expected to be one last time with Nai Nai. Fearing Billi will end up exposing the lie to her grandmother, Haiyan and Jian tell her to remain in New York City. Billi disobeys her parents' orders and flies to Changchun, shortly after the rest of the family arrive there. Billi assures her parents that she will not reveal the cancer diagnosis to Nai Nai. Throughout the trip, however, she clashes with the rest of the family, as well as the doctor treating her grandmother, over their deliberate dishonesty towards her grandmother. Guilt-ridden, Billi expresses conflicted thoughts with her parents over the Chinese cultural beliefs that result in a family refusing to disclose such a life-threatening disease with the matriarch. One night, her uncle, Haibin, contends that the lie allows the family to bear the emotional burden of the diagnosis, rather than Nai Nai herself—a practice of collectivism that Haibin acknowledges to Billi differs from the individualistic values common in Western culture. Billi later learns that Nai Nai also told a similar lie to her husband up until his death when he was terminally ill. On the day of the wedding, both Haibin and Hao Hao break down in tears on separate occasions but manage to proceed through the rest of the banquet as planned without raising Nai Nai's suspicions. To maintain the family lie, Billi intercepts Nai Nai's medical test results from the hospital and has it altered to reflect a clean bill of health. That night, Nai Nai gives Billi a hóngbāo, encouraging her to spend the money as she chooses. Billi admits that she wants to stay in Changchun to spend more time with Nai Nai, but Nai Nai declines, telling her that she needs to live her own life. When Billi reveals to her grandmother about the Guggenheim Fellowship rejection, Nai Nai responds by encouraging Billi to keep an open mind and not get hung up on this failure, rather than be "the bull endlessly ramming its horns into the corner of the room." She also says that life is not about what things one does, but more so about how one goes about doing them. Billi keeps her promise to maintain the lie and shares a tearful goodbye with Nai Nai, as the rest of the visiting family members return to their homes in Japan and America. The credits reveal that six years after her diagnosis, the woman Nai Nai's character was based on is still alive. ===== The documentary series takes you behind the scenes of London Paddington station and their day-to-day activities in and around the station. ===== From war- torn Eritrea, Luce Edgar is an all-star high school athlete and accomplished debater who is adored by other school students and his parents, Peter and Amy Edgar. However, he has animosity toward his history teacher, Harriet Wilson, who got his friend DeShaun kicked off the running team after finding marijuana in his locker and calling the police. Harriet calls Amy, asking her to meet at school. She shows her Luce's written assignment in which, asked to write from the perspective of a historical figure, he chose Frantz Fanon, a political revolutionary who argued that colonialism can be overcome through violence. Harriet is concerned, as Luce was a child soldier before coming to America, and someone like him writing this could get in trouble. Harriet also tells Amy that she went through Luce's locker and found a bag full of illegal and dangerous fireworks. Amy shows Peter the paper and the fireworks; both are unsettled, but decide to hide them and not mention anything to Luce. During dinner, the family brings up Harriet again. Luce accuses her of singling out students to make a point. He tells them how Harriet often uses Stephanie Kim, a classmate allegedly sexually abused at a party while drunk, as an example of a victimized woman suffering in silence. Luce is Harriet's shining example of a star black student, which is not how he wants to be seen, arguing that he does not want to be tokenized. Later, Luce finds the hidden paper and fireworks. The next day, Luce and Harriet discuss the issue of his paper. He acknowledges his wording but says he just did what the assignment asked, dismissing any true belief in violence. He then makes a comment about fireworks that Harriet interprets as a threat, and she notifies Peter. He and Amy confront Luce about the comment plus the fireworks being in his locker. He explains that the track team members share lockers, and the fireworks are not his. Peter thinks Luce is lying, while Amy is not sure what to believe. Harriet and her sister Rosemary, who suffers from an unspecified mental illness, have an encounter with Luce that unsettles Harriet. Later that night, Harriet finds Rosemary has trashed the house. She takes her sister back to the "doctor." At a team car wash fundraiser, Luce promises DeShaun that he will make things right. Meanwhile, Amy and Stephanie meet at a coffee shop. Stephanie says that she used to date Luce, something Amy never knew, but that they broke up. Stephanie uncomfortably describes being sexually assaulted at a party by several boys but denies Luce's involvement, saying he claimed to have stopped them and comforted her after she awoke. Luce later learns from Stephanie about the visit. The next day Rosemary arrives at the school and has a breakdown in front of Harriet, Luce, and other students before being apprehended by police. Luce shows a video of the incident to Amy and Peter, which disturbs them. Harriet's home is vandalized that night, and Stephanie arrives shortly after to tell Harriet that Luce sexually assaulted her. Harriet informs the school principal (Dan Towson), and a meeting is organized with them, Luce, and his parents, with Stephanie waiting in another room. Luce quickly disproves Harriet's accusations with video evidence of his whereabouts, and Harriet's harsh questions quickly make Amy and Peter take their son's side over hers. Harriet brings up the fireworks, and Amy lies, saying that Harriet only told her about them on the phone. Amy even tells Towson that Harriet deliberately went after her. Harriet goes to the room Stephanie was in to discover she has left. Once she returns, Towson accepts Amy's claims, and the meeting ends despite Harriet still trying to argue her side to Towson. At night, exploding fireworks inside Harriet's desk cause a fire. Harriet meets with Towson who puts her on a leave of absence pending investigation due to heavy suspicion against her. After learning of the incident, Amy runs home to find the fireworks, only to discover in horror that they are gone. Peter believes Luce was involved, but Amy insists that they will stand up for their son and not defend Harriet. Luce confronts Harriet at her house about how she ruined DeShaun's athletic career and put Luce on a pedestal. She defends her position, but Luce believes she stereotyped them. She claims that America stereotyped them and she was trying to protect them. She then accuses Luce of being hypocritical (by using other black students to "run his errands" so he wouldn't get caught) before ordering him out of her house. Outside, Amy follows Luce to a hideout where he has sex with Stephanie, who sees Amy outside the window but does not react. When Amy returns home to the spot she had originally hidden the fireworks, Luce returns too and reconciles with her. Later, Luce gives a speech at school, where he thanks Amy and Peter for raising him and says how lucky he feels to be an American, with the chance to start over and tell his own story. After, Luce goes on a run, during which his face contorts in rage. ===== Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) go on their honeymoon at a Mexican beach resort. Coincidentally, they meet a depressed Holt (Andre Braugher), also staying at the same place. Holt decided to take some time off from work to recover from losing the Commissioner title to John Kelly (Phil Reeves), who was trying to push for a "vigilant policing" initiative. Holt starts to ruin their honeymoon by engaging in depressing monologues and self-wallowing around the newlyweds, such as when the couple is eating dinner, swimming or enjoying a spa session. Amy suggests to invite Holt to join their honeymoon activities to cheer him up. The plan worked, to Jake and Amy's relief, and Holt was starting to feel happier. However, Jake finds out that Holt was planning to quit his job as he was convinced that there was more to life than the NYPD. Consequently, Jake tricks Holt into his and Amy's hotel room to lock him up. Unbeknownst to Amy that Holt was in the room, she comes out dressed up as Holly Gennero from Die Hard as a form of sexual roleplay and is shocked. The two eventually tie Holt up on the bed to prevent him from leaving and try to talk him out of quitting the NYPD. Holt, in a fit of anger and misery, calls Jake selfish, which causes Amy to chide Holt. Holt eventually escapes, apologizes and offers to extend and compensate their honeymoon. Jake and Amy are then seen continuing their sexual roleplay, with Amy as Holly and Jake as Melville Dewey. Back at the precinct, Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) tries to ask Terry (Terry Crews) for advice on a drug case. However, Terry is distressed over taking over the precinct temporarily as he wanted to be a good leader, just like Holt. He attempts to find Holt's manual in order to be a good leader, but realizes that Holt had actually trusted him in making decisions after reading the manual. He gains confidence and proceeds to tell Rosa how to solve her drug case. Meanwhile, Charles (Joe Lo Truglio) attempts to find out from Gina (Chelsea Peretti) why their parents broke up. He tries to get Gina to investigate it with him, but she refuses to do so. Charles dons a mask with Gina's face on it and tries to unlock Gina's phone to find the truth, and finds out that Gina was the one who coerced her mother in to breaking up with Charles' dad. Gina later reveals it was because her mother was cheating on his father, and the reason she did not want to disclose it initially was because she did not want to hurt his feelings. Jake and Amy come back from their honeymoon to learn that Holt had publicly rebelled against John Kelly's initiative, and as a form of retaliation, John Kelly has moved the entire precinct into the bullpen. Jake and Amy stare in surprise as they watch the overcrowded bullpen going about their business. ===== The episode starts off with a flashback to 1986 in which a young Scully (Alan Ritchson), and a young Hitchcock (Wyatt Nash) take down mafia boss Gio Costa (Daniel Di Tomasso) with the help of Marissa Costa (Decker Sadowski), Gio's wife. The episode cuts to the present day with Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) calling Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) into his office to tell them that Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker) and Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) were contacted by someone in Internal Affairs who has reopened the case. Holt suspects that Commissioner Kelly (Phil Reeves) is trying to create a scandal and sends Jake and Charles to reevaluate the case. Jake and Charles interrogate Hitchcock and Scully. Hitchcock tells Jake that they took down Gio, then intercepted a ton of coke and three duffel bags full of cash. However, a photo from the night of the bust shows Hitchcock and Scully with four duffel bags. The detectives then defensively suggest they missed the fourth bag. Jake, suspicious of the duo, decides to continue with the investigation. In an attempt to prove their innocence, Hitchcock and Scully both turn over their financial records, revealing that Hitchcock has a monthly parking spot for "The Beaver Trap", an old sex van that Hitchcock uses as a home between marriages. Jake and Charles go into the van to find the fourth duffel bag empty. Hitchcock and Scully then lock them in the van and escape in Jake’s car. Jake and Charles drive the van to find Hitchcock and Scully at "Wing Slutz" –a restaurant that they patronize frequently. Jake and Charles confront Hitchcock and Scully but the manager steps in and reveals herself to be Marissa. Hitchcock and Scully tell Jake and Charles that Marissa was their criminal informant in the mafia and that they stole the money for her after their captain refused to place her in witness protection. A call comes from Holt saying that Internal Affairs never reopened the case and it was highly likely that Hitchcock and Scully were called by Gio Costa himself. The mafia then shows up having tracked their location although the squad shows up and subdues Costa. Costa gets hold of a gun and fires shots at Marissa, but Hitchcock and Scully jump in front of her, stopping the bullets with tubs of "slut sauce" that they had strapped to their bodies in place of bulletproof vests. While investigating Hitchcock and Scully, Charles informs Jake that he’s on the verge of adopting Nikolaj’s half-brother Dragomir. Dragomir claims to be a 15-year-old but Jake finds a photo of him which shows that he is a 42-year-old fur trapper. Charles eventually gets in touch with Nikolaj’s orphanage and confirms the existence of a 34-year-old half-brother, who will be visiting soon. Meanwhile at the precinct, tensions escalate among the "upstairs people", consisting of Terry (Terry Crews) and the detective squad, and the "downstairs people", i.e. Amy (Melissa Fumero) and her uniformed officers, and Holt prepares for a television interview where he intends to speak out against Kelly’s new initiatives for the NYPD. Holt misses his interview to help Hitchcock, Scully, Jake, and Charles. Gina (Chelsea Peretti) fills in for him and is proud to break a record for most viewer complaints. Holt apologizes to the squad for his shortsightedness in his pursuit of justice. The final scene is another flashback which reveals that Hitchcock and Scully's physiques as well as attitudes towards work declined after they got hooked on Wing Slutz while checking in on Marissa. ===== Jake (Andy Samberg) and Gina (Chelsea Peretti) attend their 20-year high school reunion with Amy (Melissa Fumero) coming with them. Jake is worried, as his high school reputation was affected after an incident where a forthcoming robbery was cancelled after someone told the principal and everyone assumed it was Jake, earning him the nickname "The Tattler" and ruining his senior year. At the reunion, Jake is quickly reminded of his "tattler" status and decides to investigate with Amy and find the real tattler. While this happens, Gina meets with a potential investor after she fakes being an app creator. Jake finds out from a fellow classmate that he saw the tattler and had the exact same clothes as Jake. Jake finds out the tattler was actually Gina, as she was the only one with the same clothes. He confronts her, and she reveals that she tattled because Jake could be involved in the robbery and would wind up in jail, effectively ending his dream of being a cop. She also reveals that the leader of the robbery didn't come to the reunion as he's on parole in Delaware. He forgives her for this and also tells her that her talents are being wasted in the precinct, encouraging her to follow her dreams. Meanwhile, Holt (Andre Braugher) finds Terry (Terry Crews), Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker) and Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) listening to a radio contest, where the host makes a noise and everyone tries to guess it. Holt finds this a waste of time and scoffs off, but eventually comes to join them after Terry incorrectly guesses the answer. Also, Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) finds that Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) has two love interests and can't decide which one to choose so he helps her choose with some unorthodox methods. ===== Tantra is the story of a family which has fallen prey to the clutches of an evil incantation. They are raising two girls, one in preschool and the other in grade school and attending ballet class. They seem to be getting ahead in the world as a family but Laura is feeling the years going by. She is approaching 40 and has not fulfilled many of her professional career dreams of becoming a writer. Dean at the same time seems to be a growing success in his office and is surrounded by young and attractive co-workers. One night, Dean approaches her in their own bedroom after the children's bedtime to start a romantic kiss when she suddenly ambiguously says "hello friend" to him, which he takes as a signal that she is not receptive to him at that moment and he backs away and goes to bed. The next day she is confused by her own feelings about why she was unresponsive to him and seems to feel that something has not been the same in their marriage for a least several months. She starts to wonder if she is now adequate to their marriage and Dean's growing success. Apparently starting to doubt herself she calls her successfully rich though wayward playboy father (Bill Murray) for advice and he agrees to stop by her apartment to pick her up for lunch in order to talk. At lunch at an expensive restaurant, her father casually flirts with the waitresses and other female customers at the restaurant at random. Laura tells him her story and he asks her if she suspects that Dean is being unfaithful. She says she does not think so but that Dean does work with an attractive and young co-worker, Fiona, with whom he seems to spend a lot of extra time. Her father warns her that all men are the same and not to be trusted. He tells her that he will prepare to investigate the situation and will report to her. He advises her to check Dean's phone log on his mobile to see if he has been calling any phone numbers of women more than once or twice a day. Reluctantly, Laura does check Dean's phone and finds no abnormal pattern of phone call behavior. She later meets again with her father who says he has news from his investigation. They meet again and her father says he has photographs which he has hired a photographer to take of Dean which he is prepared to show her. He says that the 8-by-10 glossy photographs are in a plain manila envelope which he hands to her. She opens the envelope and finds a glossy photograph of Dean eating a hamburger by himself at his office desk, and another glossy photograph of Dean standing on the street by himself and hailing a cab. She tells her father that these photographs are meaningless and he agrees but tells her that his investigator also saw Dean go shopping on Fifth Avevue in New York at Cartier's exclusive jewelry store and asks her if Dean has recently given her a gift from Cartier. She says no and her father adds that the investigator has found out that Dean is planning a trip to a Mexican resort soon. She admits that she knows nothing about the Mexico trip at all and that Dean has told her nothing about it. Her father is doubly suspicious now and tells her to redouble her observations of her husband's activities. The next day Dean announces to her that he forgot to tell her of a trip to Mexico which has come up and that he will be out of town for a few days. After Dean departs, Laura's thoughts ignite with suspicion when she hears that Dean is leaving for the Mexico trip with his co-worker Fiona as his assistant on the "business trip". Laura calls her father again, who tells her they must secretly depart for Mexico to spy on Dean and find out once and for all if Dean is cheating on her. They soon arrive in Mexico after Laura leaves the children with her mother and continue their investigation of Dean, now in Mexico. At the end of the first day in the evening, they spot a female figure standing in her robe at the window in Dean's room at the resort. Laura goes ballistic in anger and tells her father that she must go to confront Dean with the discovery that there is a woman in his room at night. When she arrives at Dean's room, however, Fiona comes out and with surprise welcomes Laura to Mexico asking her why she is in Mexico. Laura asks where Dean is and Fiona tells her that Dean left early from the business trip to go back to New York in order to be with her for Laura's birthday. When Fiona came out of her room, Laura could see that she was with her LGBT partner with whom she was staying during the Mexico trip. Laura heads back to New York. She finds Dean back home, and Dean has figured out that her secret trip to Mexico could only have occurred because she was harboring suspicions about him. They manage to patch things up and go out to a nice restaurant to bring things back to normal. During the diner, Dean surprises her with a fancy gift in a small red box. It is Cartier watch with a gold bracelet which she puts on immediately. In the process of putting on Dean's watch, she takes off the vintage watch her father had previously given her as a recognition that Dean is the main man in her life now. ===== ===== This fourth novel in the NYPD Red series centers on two of the NYPD Red detectives, Zach Jordan and his partner Kylie MacDonald. The early part of the film shows their close friendship in their late twenties as they consume large quantities of wine and drugs through the night, sometimes engaging in casual sex with a man but mostly just enjoying each other's company. Tyler is included in Laura's family gatherings, with a pregnant sister (who becomes mother to a baby daughter) playing a part in the plot and character development. Circumstances change when Laura meets and then gets engaged to concert pianist Jim, who shortly afterwards gives up alcohol. Laura continues her partying lifestyle with Tyler, but starts spending nights with Jim. Inevitably the dynamics of the various relationships change, and more so after they become friends with a poet, Marty, to whom Laura is attracted, and his circle of literary friends. Laura struggles to make progress with her novel throughout the film. Various events in each of their lives unfold, with questions about life, and especially women's roles, raised and explored both implicitly and explicitly. With the development of the women's friendship front and centre of the film, it doesn't take the easy route to a typical neat and happily resolved "Hollywood ending", but ends optimistically with Laura finding her creativity beginning to flow as she finds a way forward. ===== In 1987, Javed Khan and his family – Pakistani migrant parents Malik and Noor and sisters Yasmeen and Shazia – live in Luton, England during Thatcherism. Javed likes contemporary rock music, which Malik disapproves of. Javed writes poetry and lyrics for his best friend Matt's band, but Matt critiques Javed's work for being depressing. Javed feels out of place at his new school, where he is one of two South Asian students; the other, Roops, is a fan of "The Boss". In Ms. Clay's writing class, Javed develops a crush on a student activist named Eliza and becomes interested in the writing assignments. Javed talks to Ms. Clay after class about his poetry and diaries. During lunch Roops approaches him and gives him two Bruce Springsteen s, calling Springsteen "the direct line to all that is true in this shitty world." Javed faces constant racism from his peers and neighbours, and Malik forbids him to socialise, insisting he "follow the Jews" in his school because of their success as a people. Javed is rejected as a writer by the school paper. At the same time, Vauxhall Motors lays off Malik. Frustrated by racism and Malik's inability to understand him, Javed discards his poems on the night of the Great Storm of 1987. After listening to the Springsteen tapes, the lyrics immediately speak to him, and he recovers his poems. At school, Javed excitedly tells Roops that Springsteen knows exactly how he feels. Inspired to continue writing, he submits his poetry to Ms. Clay. A neighbour, Mr. Evans, recovers one of Javed's poems that decries the National Front, who are planning a local march. As a World War II veteran, Mr. Evans sympathizes with Javed's feelings and calls the poem brilliant, but Javed's parents are less appreciative. Javed submits a piece about Springsteen to the newspaper. Meanwhile, Malik becomes aggravated over mounting bills and Yasmeen's upcoming wedding. Javed takes a job with Matt's father, also a Springsteen fan, at his flea market. Matt's father helps Javed impress Eliza by singing Springsteen songs. Javed asks out Eliza, steeling his nerves with Springsteen songs. The two kiss, and Javed gives Eliza a poem, which she loves. Ms. Clay enjoys his poems and arranges an unpaid internship at the Herald. Javed and Roops lock themselves in the school radio station and play Springsteen, briefly getting in trouble. Soon after, while wandering through town with Eliza and Roops, Javed is almost caught holding Eliza by Malik, and he learns of growing tensions between the Muslim community and the National Front who have organized a march and hung a pig's head at the local Mosque. Eliza invites Javed to dinner with her conservative and racist parents who imply that she is only with him out of rebellion. At the Herald, Javed gets paid after an article he wrote about racism is chosen for the front page. Javed uses the money to buy tickets for a Springsteen concert on Yasmeen's wedding day. Before his parents arrive at the wedding, National Front members assault Malik. Upset that Javed withheld money from the family, Malik rips up the tickets. Javed stuns his parents by telling them he does not want to be their son. At school, Eliza chastises Javed for abandoning his family and using them as an excuse to stop seeing her. In class, Ms. Clay tells Javed his Springsteen essay won him attendance to a lecture at Monmouth College in New Jersey, near where Springsteen grew up. Javed initially declines, knowing his father will disallow him, but changes his mind. Malik tells Javed that if he leaves, he will not be allowed to return. Javed and Roops take the trip to the States. It inspires Javed to write something new. Back home, Noor tells Malik to reconcile with Javed and reminds him that he left his own family and country at a young age. Eliza recruits Javed's family to show up in support when he reads his winning essay. Instead of reading his essay, Javed talks about how "Blinded By The Light" mirrors his father's troubles. Everyone is moved. He reconciles with Eliza and thanks her for inviting his family. Malik reconciles with Javed and tells him that he has listened to Springsteen and admires the themes of working hard and respecting one's family. As Javed leaves for university, he and Malik listen to Springsteen together. ===== Shaheen is a young Muslim girl who lives in Mumbai and dreams of doing something in life. He gets a call in the middle of their shift and they head over to meet with his CI in an abandoned building where he tells her to wait in the car. Alicia hears gunfire coming from the building where Brown went in and heads over, armed with a Glock pistol and a vest fitted with a body camera. There, Alicia witnesses detective Terry Malone (Frank Grillo) and his men murder an unarmed drug dealer. When Malone attempts to explain away the situation to her, the other, Smitty (Beau Knapp), panics upon seeing Alicia's body cam and shoots at her, causing Alicia to fall through the floor onto the ground below. A wounded Alicia escapes while she is being tracked by Malone and his men. When a fellow police officer arrives, Alicia realizes they are working with Malone, forcing her to hide out in the store of Milo Jackson (Tyrese Gibson), a member of the community who is reluctant to hide her. She tries to get help from her partner, Jennings, but she finds out that he is one of the cohorts and she runs away from him. Meanwhile, Malone blames West for the shooting and manipulates criminal kingpin Darius into putting out an open bounty on West because one of the kids that Malone murdered was Darius' nephew. While recovering in Milo's home, Alicia has a gun pointed at her head by Missy's son. Alicia then learns that Darius put out a bounty on her and that the whole community is tracking her down. Alicia manages to escape, but a wounded Milo is left behind and is captured by Darius. Darius tortures Milo, but Milo refuses to divulge where to find Alicia. Alicia records herself and hides her body cam in an abandoned house. Alicia then exposes herself where Darius does business. She convinces Darius that she has proof that Malone killed Darius' nephew. One of Darius' henchman hacks into Alicia's body cam where the footage is downloaded, and after viewing the footage Darius is convinced that Malone is his nephew's real killer. Malone and his enforcers arrive to track down Alicia; during the ensuing chaos, Darius is killed by Malone, and Brown is killed by Smitty, who is in turn killed by West. West gives the body camera to Milo so that he can sneak into the police station and upload the footage, while she stays and tries to outrun Malone, who is trying to kill her. There is a standoff between Malone and West with the whole black community looking on. When West gets the upper hand, other police officers arrive and tell her to put down the gun. At the same time, the captain gets the footage and radios SRT to get them to stand down and tells them that West is innocent. Malone tries one last time to kill her, pretending she has a gun, but her partner, Jennings, shoots him in the chest and incapacitates him. As Lydia explains, Henry starts to become more compassionate towards Lydia, his own family having gone through similar hardships. Soon after, Daryl drags Henry away, fearing he may be becoming too close. Daryl continues to talk to her as well, trying to scope out the size of her group as Lydia claims that they may be coming to save her. He finds her arm covered in marks, which she says came from her mom. Daryl, who had been similarly beaten as a child, displays sympathy for Lydia's abuse, but she proves to still be uncooperative. He eventually walks off, claiming Lydia is Tara's problem, but Henry tries to convince him that Lydia is coming to face her past now. Henry mentions his surrogate mother, Carol, who had cut her hair short due to abuse from her first husband, Ed, has finally grown to feel safe enough to let it grow again now. Daryl agrees to work with Henry to try to help Lydia. Throughout the episode, Lydia's stories are told in flashbacks to the months after the walker outbreak. She and her parents have taken refuge in a Baltimore shelter with others. Lydia's father's sanity starts to unravel and believes the shelter is no longer safe; however, her mother takes more command, willing to kill a survivor sheltering with them who is having a panic attack as she considers him too weak to survive. That night, the survivor turns while Lydia is watching and her father runs to save her, but ends up getting bit. This only serves to harden Lydia's mother, eventually leading them to don the masks made from walkers to survive. In the present, Henry decides to let Lydia out of her cell for a while and discreetly shows her the safety and facilities the Hilltop has to offer. While Lydia has an opportunity to take a hammer and strike Henry with it to escape, the cries of a baby cause her to panic and flashback to her past, and she begs to be returned to her cell. She asks Henry to stay with her through the night. When morning comes, Daryl returns and Lydia states that she doesn't think her mother will be coming, and she was only trying to scope out information for her. Lydia then tells them that her story was a lie, her mother having told her that story to blame her father's death on Lydia. In reality, when the survivor had turned, it wasn't Lydia's father that was bitten, but instead another survivor; her mother took the opportunity to try to make their escape from the shelter, killing Lydia's father when he refused to leave with them. Lydia mentions where her mother and her people may be camped, but notes that they frequently move about. Meanwhile, Tara leads Magna, Yumiko, Connie, and Kelly to search for Alden and Luke, aware that they may encounter more people like Lydia that wear walker disguises. While they find the pair's horses, Tara declares it is too risky to stay out and orders the group back to the Hilltop. There, Magna's group debates going against orders to go back out and search for Luke, knowing that this will harm their chance to be accepted by the Hilltop. While they try to find the tracks again in the middle of the night, more walkers appear. Magna then suggests that they need to return, but Kelly states that they should find Luke; Connie opts to stay with Kelly. Unbeknownst to them, a Whisperer secretly watches them. Eventually, Magna and Yumiko return to the Hilltop by daylight. On a guard post, Yumiko apologizes to Tara for leaving. Tara accepts and tells Yumiko to talk to her next time, and informs her that the guards had seen them leave and that she had sent out a party to find and recover them, not wanting to see anyone else hurt. As they watch the guards bring Kelly and Connie back just outside the Hilltop gate, they spot a small group of Whisperers approaching the Hilltop. The guards then grab Kelly to get her safely inside, but are separated from Connie, who hides and takes shelter in the nearby cornfield. At the front of the gate, the Whisperers' leader, Lydia's mother now known as Alpha, appears unmasked and introduces herself. Alpha announces to the Hilltop residents that she wants only one thing from them: her daughter. ===== In flashback, Carol, Ezekiel, and Jerry wait for representatives from the Hilltop and Alexandria to arrive to trade goods in a clearing on the woods. Jerry reveals that he and his wife Nabila are expecting a child. Eventually, Jesus and Tara arrive with the trade goods, and Jesus hands Ezekiel the charter of rights that Michonne had been developing for the Kingdom to hold onto; Ezekiel becomes enamored by the document and promises Carol that someday the community leaders will all sign it together. In the present, Ezekiel looks longingly at the charter in the Kingdom. At the Hilltop, Alpha demands that the community residents turn over her daughter Lydia. She explains that she has removed her walker mask to show them that she comes in peace and willing to overlook their trespass of her lands. Daryl decides to walk outside to talk to Alpha face to face; the two meet. He is initially dismissive of Alpha's demands as she and her human allies are few compared to the Hilltop forces. However, there are several more of Alpha's allies in wait beyond the tree lines, as well as a horde of walkers. Daryl tells Alpha that she can't have Lydia and informs her that he's ready to fight her people to ensure she doesn't get Lydia back, until he spots one of the Whisperers with a baby. Suddenly, a couple of Whisperers bring up a tied up Alden and Luke. Alpha then offers to trade both of them for her daughter; Daryl accepts. Inside the Hilltop, Daryl discovers that Henry and Lydia escaped. Addy tells him that she knows where they went; she and Enid head out to find them while Daryl stalls. As the standoff continues, the baby belonging to one of disguised women starts to cry, drawing the walkers. Alpha shrugs at the mother, indicating that she should leave the baby to die. Fearing for her life and not having any other choice, the baby's mother decides to abandon him as he continues to cry. Alden and Luke beg for Alpha to have the baby be spared, but Alpha refuses. The Hilltop guards bang the fence to attract the walkers away from the baby, but it doesn't work. Luke then frantically signs Connie, still hiding in the cornfield, to grab the baby. Connie then runs out of the cornfield and rushes to save the child. The Whisperers around her unsheathe blades as Connie escapes back into the cornfield and is helped back into the Hilltop by Daryl, Kelly, Tammy, and Earl. Soon after, Enid and Addy are able to track down Henry and Lydia to an abandoned house near the Hilltop, where Henry has provided Lydia a new set of clothes. Enid tries to convince Henry to not let the bad things change him and allow them to turn over Lydia, recalling how much death she herself has seen and the advice Carl had given her before he died. Lydia opts to leave on her own accord and is traded for Alden and Luke. Reunited, Lydia apologizes to her mother, but is smacked by Alpha across the face, ordering her to address her as "Alpha" like everyone else. She then smiles at Daryl as they leave. At the Kingdom, with the fair approaching, Ezekiel leads a scouting party to a nearby town. His goal is to obtain a projection bulb from a movie theater to replace the one that is broken, but the theater is packed with walkers. Carol is initially against the plan, but is convinced by Ezekiel, who explains how this will be a positive improvement for the Kingdom. With minimal incident, they recover the bulb as well as one of the poster display cases, which Ezekiel wants to use so that he can frame the charter of rights once it is signed. Ezekiel's group then departs the theater and travels back to the Kingdom. The child recovered by Connie is turned over to Earl and Tammy to raise. That evening, Henry leaves a note and sneaks out of Hilltop to find Lydia. His departure is soon learned by Daryl, who finds out that Henry couldn't live with letting Lydia go. Daryl then decides to chase him down, but is stopped by Connie, who insists to let her join him as she feels the same way as Henry; they both depart together. ===== As Alpha leads her group back to camp, she questions Lydia about her time at the Hilltop and to reveal any intel she learned while held captive, but her daughter claims that there was little of interest. Henry eventually catches up with Lydia and the Whisperers, and watches them from a close distance as they rest, but is found and grabbed by Beta, Alpha's second- in-command. Beta tosses Henry in front of Alpha, who questions the boy. Henry reveals that he came alone to get Lydia; Alpha decides that Henry is coming with them. On their way back to camp, Alpha asks Lydia why she didn't mention Henry. Lydia explains that he wasn't worth mentioning, but Alpha reminds her that he just risked his life to save her, so she must be lying. The Whisperers soon arrive back at their camp. Elsewhere, Daryl and Connie search for Henry in the woods, realizing that the Whisperers caught up with him. At the Whisperer's camp, Alpha taunts a secured Henry and explains to him why they disguise themselves as walkers, as the strong adapt while the weak die. Seconds later, two of her own, Sean and Helen, approach her and question why they gave up two people for her daughter. Alpha reminds them that she did it to get information, but Sean issues a challenge for her leadership role. In response, Alpha confirms that he has the right to challenge her position, but that she also has the right to defend it. Knowing that it was Helen that has been sowing seeds of discontent within the group, Alpha grabs Helen and decapitates her with a piece of wire. She then hands the head over to a sobbing Sean before fatally stabbing him in the stomach, as Henry looks on in horror. Privately, Alpha tells Beta a story about Lydia when she was three years old. They both then agree that Henry can be useful and that they need to find out if Lydia truly has feelings for him. On a field, two Whisperers draw a herd to devour the couple's corpses as Daryl and Connie watch nearby. At night, Beta takes Henry to Alpha. Unmasked, Alpha drops her knife and makes Lydia pick it up, commanding her to kill Henry with it so that she can prove what side she's on; Lydia picks up the knife and begins to cry. Her mother warns her not to be weak and that Beta will kill them both if she doesn't kill Henry. Suddenly, a small horde of walkers show up and begin eating the unmasked Whisperers, creating mass confusion. Alpha and the others quickly put on their masks so that they can try to lure the herd away. Moments later, Daryl and Connie arrive disguised as Whisperers to free and rescue Henry; they prepare to retreat. Daryl grabs Henry, who grabs Lydia, and together the four escape. In Alexandria, Michonne finds herself at odds with other members of the communities' council, particularly with Siddiq and Gabriel; she was concerned about not learning of Rosita and Eugene's mission to establish a radio tower. Gabriel points out to Michonne that she frequently overrides their decisions, specifically disallowing Alexandria to participate in the Kingdom's upcoming fair over concerns for their safety. Michonne later goes to check in on Negan, who has returned to his cell. Negan reveals he knows much of the situation due to gossip he hears outside his window as he tries to get Michonne to trust him. She returns to her home to chastise Judith, as she has been talking with Negan, but Judith insists that Negan has changed. Michonne refuses to believe that people can change until Judith points out that Michonne changed. While upset at Judith, Michonne takes this advice to heart and goes to tell Aaron that she will not overrule a vote to allow Alexandria to participate in the fair, even though she thinks it is still a bad idea. Meanwhile, Rosita's pregnancy with Siddiq's child continues. Both Gabriel and Eugene struggle with their own past romantic interests in Rosita. Eugene, evaluating his position logically, realizes that he likely has no chance, but encourages Gabriel to make efforts to continue to see Rosita, as it is clear the two love each other very much. ===== The story of an eventful steamer ride, which shows a canvasser Mofizul (Mosharraf Karim), and a garments factory owner Atik (Tauquir Ahmed), who is trying to disappear after burning down his factory to claim the money from insurance company. The only thing diverting him from his violent plans is a newfound relationship with his son. ===== Superintendent Jake Carson is the commanding officer of a group of smokejumpers in remote California woodlands. Carson is capable in a crisis and takes tremendous pride in his work, diving into dangerous situations to rescue civilians alongside his team - overtly loyal Mark Rogers, nervy and neurotic Rodrigo Torres and "Axe", a huge mute who carries his fireman's axe everywhere. After rescuing three children from a burning cabin, Carson is contacted by the universally admired division commander Richards. Richards praises Carson's work and shortlists Carson for his replacement, Carson's dream job. Rogers advises Carson that they are responsible for the welfare of the children Brynn, Will, and Zoey under the "SafeHaven Laws", which require law enforcement and first responders to care for children until they are released to a parent or guardian. Carson leaves a voicemail for the children's mother who texts back saying that they are on their way. Carson's attempts to complete his application for division commander are undermined by the children running haywire around the station, and the arrival of Carson's ex-girlfriend, environmental Doctor Amy Hicks, a local who protests the smokejumpers taking water from endangered toad habitats to fight fires. Carson tries to offload the children onto Hicks, who refuses. Despite the mayhem, the rest of the smokejumpers begin to bond with the children, with toddler Zoey warming up the brutish Axe and Torres teaching Will how to navigate dangerous situations. Brynn pays lip service to Rogers' admiration of Carson, but then stages an escape on the station's ATV, spilling oil and slashing tires to prevent chase. Carson catches them by off-roading on a little girl's bike and corners the children on a dirt road. At Will's prompting, Brynn admits that they are orphans on the run from foster care, fearing that they will be separated. The text messages were from Brynn herself. The group camp out overnight and Carson promises to hold off calling Child Services until after Zoey's birthday in two days. The group go all out in preparing for Zoey's birthday, and the four smokejumpers buy presents for Brynn and Will as well. Carson then tells Will a bedtime story about a yeti who was married to his job, had a son, and then died on the job because he was distracted by having a family. Brynn and Hicks are both touched by the story, which fits in with the circumstances of Carson's father's death and Carson's inability to form relationships. The overboard birthday party is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Richards and Child Services. The children flee in Richards' car and run off the road right on a cliff. While driving, Brynn gets trapped in her seat belt. Carson parachutes down to rescue them and with Will's help, he frees Brynn before the car can roll off the cliff. Back at the station, Hicks and the other smokejumpers bid an emotional farewell to the children. Richards tells Carson that family can be a source of support and that there is more to life than working. Inspired, Carson refuses to release the children to Child Services under the Safe Haven laws and proposes a plan to adopt all three of them. In voice-over, Abby Johnson says she was tricked into participating with Planned Parenthood and the scene shifts to a time in 2009 when she claims she was asked to assist in an ultrasound-guided suction aspiration abortion at thirteen weeks gestation. The scene ends with Abby leaving in tears. Johnson then describes, in voice over, that her story started her junior year at Texas A&M.; The scene is depicted in flashback of a Planned Parenthood booth at a career fair. Johnson agrees to volunteer after the representative in the booth says to her that their ultimate goal was to reduce the number of abortions. As a clinic escort, she meets director Cheryl and witnesses anti-abortion protesters being verbally confrontational towards the women going in. One protester, Marilisa, is depicted as being kinder to women than the other protestors and says that those from her organization, "Coalition for Life", are "not here to hurt them or condemn them". A flashback within a flashback then happens to when Abby had her two abortions, the first as a college student and the second after she marries then divorces. During the second abortion, she is given mifepristone at the clinic and is told there will be "a little bleeding", but the experience is depicted as being excruciatingly painful, over twelve hours and then followed up with "eight weeks of blood clots and excruciating cramps" causing her to fear for her life. The film then cuts back to Abby's continuing work at the clinic, and she recounts in voice- over that it became "my career, despite the disapproval of virtually everyone in my life". The film flashes forward to her second marriage to Doug, a man who proclaims love while, like her parents, disapproving of her career on religious and moral grounds. Abby describes starting her life with Doug and attending a church with him that is decidedly opposed to abortion even while she continues to work at Planned Parenthood. Abby becomes pregnant by Doug and decides to keep it. In the meantime, a scene is depicted of a botched abortion taking place at the clinic where Abby is told not to call an ambulance because of the way it would "look". Abby gives birth to Grace and is promoted to director when Cheryl is transferred to Houston. Before Hurricane Ike strikes, Abby coordinates all of the abortions to happen beforehand, anticipating that it won't be possible to perform the procedures for a while after the hurricane. Abby wins Employee of the Year while also being told by Cheryl that she should double the number of abortions. Cheryl explains that "Non-profit is a tax status, not a business model!", and says the organization makes its money off of abortions the way that fast food restaurants make money off fries and soda. Abby is scolded for objecting to this, and then eventually reprimanded by Cheryl for insubordination after which the first few moments of the film are repeated just prior to Abby's participation in the procedure. Abby is then depicted going to the office of 40 Days for Life, run by Marilisa and her husband, Shawn, and tearfully telling them that she cannot stay in her job after what she has seen. They offer to help her find employment. Abby formally resigns from Planned Parenthood and begins to help with the 40 Days for Life campaign, to the point of being on the other side of the clinic fence encouraging women not to go through with their abortions. Planned Parenthood sues Abby for leaking confidential information about their operations, and Shawn convinces his laid-back lawyer friend Jeff to defend her. In 2013, when the clinic Abby worked at has closed, she organizes a celebration at the abandoned building in which she expresses regret for performing abortions as well as having two. The closing captions say that Abby continues to work with the ministry "And Then There Were None", helping other abortion clinic workers leave and find employment elsewhere. ===== ===== The story is mainly based on the unconditional love of a father (Yoosuf Shafeeu) towards his only daughter (Mariyam Enash Sinan). Interrupting the meeting, Hanna argues that they should fight back, encouraging them to make a Golem to protect the village, but is rebuffed by Horrovits, who states that only Moses could create and control one. Horrovits later gathers together a prayer procession, asking God to spare Vladimir's daughter. That night, Hanna visits her sister and discovers she had a miscarriage after being assaulted by one of the invaders. Enraged, Hanna sneaks into the synagogue and finds the 72 secret names of God hidden in the Torah in order to reveal the code of merkabah which could summon a Golem. Going into the nearby woods, she forms a mud sculpture of the Golem, and places a Shem HaMephorash inside the sculpture’s mouth, completing the ceremony by setting ablaze a Star of David before passing out. Waking up the following day, Hanna discovers the sculpture has disappeared. Meanwhile, Perla pleads with Vladimir to have mercy on the village but to no avail, and the village is soon put under curfew. Later that night, while investigating strange sounds that seem to emanate from somewhere inside the house, Benjamin discovers Hanna’s use of contraceptive methods; confronted with this, Hanna reveals that after the loss of their son she could not bear to lose another child. The next day, in the stables, one of the horses behaves erratically and breaks loose. Chasing after the horse, Hanna is ambushed by a group of the invaders, who proceed to beat and hang her from a tree. She is saved by the Golem, who bears an uncanny resemblance to her dead son. Approaching the Golem, Hanna wipes the mud off its forehead, revealing human skin underneath with the word "EMET" (Hebrew:Truth) carved into its forehead. She leaves the Golem in the stable, but later that night takes the Golem in and bathes it. Perla confronts Hanna, revealing that she was present when another Golem was summoned to protect their people and the creature had gone on a rampage against the very people it was supposed to protect. Perla further warns her that the Golem is not a living thing and that Hanna should destroy it before it becomes too dangerous to control. Perla then makes Hanna promise that if the Golem ever goes out of control she will destroy it. Hanna then tries to drown the Golem, but is shocked to discover that it cannot be killed by normal means. Once Perla is back to her shack, she is threatened by Vladimir to never leave it while his daughter remains in there. As Hanna goes to fetch the Golem some clothing, she spies Benjamin flirting with another woman. Benjamin rebuffs the woman's advances and makes her leave; the woman is then slaughtered by the Golem later that night. The next day, the village discover the woman’s mutilated corpse and presume she was murdered by outsiders. Benjamin and some others attempt to take the matters into their own hands, but the situation escalates; Rebecca's husband is killed in the fight, and when Benjamin is about to be murdered but is saved by the Golem who is acting upon Hanna's emotions. A terrified Vladimir and his men flee, taking his daughter with him. Later that night, Benjamin, Hanna and the Golem are gathered for dinner. The Golem stabs himself, showing Hanna that they are connected to each other through pain stimulus. While Hanna and Benjamin have sex, Perla sneaks into the house and tries to kill the Golem, only to be killed by it. Later when Hanna and Benjamin are sleeping, blood starts dripping from the ceiling, waking Benjamin. Going up to the attic, he finds Perla's corpse stuffed inside a chest. Horrified, Benjamin pleads with Hanna to destroy the Golem; she refuses, claiming that the Golem is just a boy. Fearing that the Golem has now become a danger to the village, Benjamin assembles a minyan alongside Horrovits, with the intention of destroying it. Benjamin then lures the Golem to the synagogue by playing the violin. When the Golem reaches the synagogue, Horrovits tries to kill it by using the Pulsa diNura death curse. The plan almost succeeds until Vladimir, who has returned after his daughter has died, begins to set fires around the entire village, distracting them. With the spell broken, the Golem then slaughters Horrovits and goes on a rampage. Vladimir attacks Hanna and is about to kill her when the Golem tears his heart out, killing him. The Golem then continues its rampage, attempting to kill everyone in sight until Benjamin pleads with Hanna to kill it. Approaching the Golem, Hanna kisses it goodbye, removing the scroll of God's name from its mouth, killing it and finally ending its rampage. ===== An elderly woman confronts her own long-repressed romantic feelings for another woman after learning that her home care nurse is a lesbian. ===== Pig is a coming-of-age story set in a bleak post-industrial English new town as told by 15 year-old narrator Danny. Written by Natalie Hill ===== ===== The film begins with Lincoln (Frank McGlynn Sr.) delivering part of his presidential inaugural speech in Washington, D.C, on March 4, 1861. The next scene, six weeks later, is in the White House, where the president is talking with his wife Mary (Nana Bryant). Suddenly their young son Tad (Dickie Moore) and Lincoln's assistant John Hay (John Harron) rush in to report that Confederate forces had bombarded Fort Sumter in South Carolina. The president, saddened by the news, kneels with Tad to pray for the nation. The story moves to December 1862, with Lincoln discussing the importance of the Emancipation Proclamation prior to its release. That scene transitions to July 1863, to Lincoln's cabinet members bickering about the president's war strategy, when news arrives of the Union army's victory at Gettysburg. As the men celebrate, Lincoln comes in to defend again his policies. Later in the White House, the president plays with Tad on the floor before meeting with a Mrs. Scott (Sibyl Harris). She is there to plead for the life of her son, a young soldier who is to be executed for falling asleep while on sentry duty with the Wisconsin infantry at Gettysburg. Lincoln's secretary of war, Edwin Stanton (Raymond Brown), now enters and threatens to resign if the soldier is pardoned. Lincoln calms Stanton and then assures Mrs. Scott he will pardon her son. The film now advances to November 1863. Tad is seriously ill, and his father, mother, and the attending doctor (Edward LeSaint) worry at his bedside. The president fears for his son’s life, but he must depart for Gettysburg to take part in the dedication of the battlefield cemetery there. Once at the town, Lincoln stays in the home of attorney David Wills (Earl Dwire). That evening, while editing his speech for the dedication, the president instructs the army band outside to play "Dixie", a song deeply associated with the American South. A crowd in the street initially objects to the choice but begins cheering when the band performs what Lincoln calls a "mighty fine tune".Dialogue and document content transcribed from film. The next day at the ceremony, as celebrated orator Edward Everett (Gordon Hart) concludes his two-hour speech, Lincoln receives a telegram from Mary informing him that Tad is "much improved", news that noticeably relieves the president. He now stands and delivers his own speech, which lasts less than three minutes. At the end of his brief but historic address, the image of Lincoln's face fades out, gradually replaced by an American flag fluttering in the wind and accompanied musically by a rousing excerpt from the "Battle Hymn of the Republic". ===== ===== The musical takes place in 1941, in the debris after the London Blitz of World War II.
