The novel is told in a mixture of first-person and third-person narrative. Jules had been estranged from her sister Nel due to an incidence from their childhood. Nel assumed that Jules had seduced her boyfriend Robbie even though he was sexually abusing Jules. Lena is furious at Jules for not speaking to her mom. Lena believes that her mom jumped into the Drowning Pool, a place where multiple women throughout the town's history have died. Lena blamed her friend Katie's death on her mother's obsession with the pool. Jules does not believe that her sister committed suicide. She heard fear in Nel's last voicemail, imploring Jules to meet her. Jules informed Detective Sean Townsend about this. Detective Sergeant Erin Morgan sensed Sean's distress in the case and found out that his mother also committed suicide in the Drowning Pool. Helen Townsend stays at her father-in-law Patrick's cottage as her husband betrayed her. Louise, Katie's mother, was relieved that Nel died as she holds her responsible for inspiring girls to become curious about the Drowning Pool. Her son Josh, however, is terrified that his mom was not at the house when Nel died. Jules searches for her mother's bracelet which Nel wore all the time and is shocked to find that it is missing. Louise finds diet pills prescribed to Nel among Katie's belongings and tells Sean that Nel's murder should be made public. But it turns out that Katie asked Lena to buy her the pills. Mark Henderson, Lena's teacher, finds Nel's bracelet in Helen's drawer while searching her room. Josh and Lena breaks his windows as revenge for Katie's death. Josh tells Sean that Mark seduced Katie, and Lena reveals that Katie sacrificed herself to protect Mark from being arrested for statutory rape. Louise confronts Lena for keeping the information from her, and Lena tells her she threatened Katie to end her relationship with Mark. After Louise leaves, she tells Jules that it was Nel who made the threat. Erin comes to know that Nel and Sean had a relationship. She asks Sean about it and he barks at her to check his records. She meets Nickie, a con artist who tells her that she must look upon Lauren (Patrick's dead wife) and not Helen. Lena waits for Mark at his home and tries to kill him but ends up injured. He ties her up and tries to escape with her in the car. He confronts her at his ex's cottage and tells Lena that he loved Katie and did not kill Nel. They fight, and Lena likely kills Mark. Lena tells Jules that Nel was murdered, having learned from Mark that Helen Townsend had a bracelet in her office that was missing from Nel’s body after her death. Jules goes to the Townsend house and accuses Helen of murdering Nel. Patrick (Sean's father) then confesses to killing Nel and to killing his own wife, Lauren, years ago. In the months after Patrick’s confession, each of the characters leaves Beckford. Jules and Lena go to London and have a much stronger relationship than they did at the beginning. Patrick is in jail. Helen and Sean leave together, but Sean disappears one day and Helen does not look for him. Sean, in an undisclosed location, tries to come to terms with himself and admits that it was he who killed Nel. ===== During the Karkidakam season in 2007, Vishwanathan, also known as Bullet Vishwan (Anoop Menon), is ambushed while riding his motorbike. As he fights his attackers, two men—Maathan Tharakan (Siddique) and Kaaka Rameshan (Chemban Vinod Jose)—arrive. Maathan hits Vishwan with a steel bar, killing him. Prof. Premraj, also called Kamaraj (Salim Kumar), is the vice-principal of a college who tries to stop relationships between male and female students while continuing a relationship with a cleaner, and watches pornographic videos. Two student gangs; the 'kadappuram' (seafront) gang led by Franklin (Appani Sarath) and the 'Thiruvananthapuram' (city) gang led by Sameer (Arun Kurian). During one of these fights, the gangs break a picture of Vishwan. Premraj installs CCTV cameras in the campus. Franklin's friend Vignyanaakoshi (Jude Anthany Joseph) interferes with the system to show pornographic videos; Premraj turns on the monitor, sees the videos and is caught by Fr. George Kaattuparambu (Shivaji Guruvayoor), who suspends him from his job. Premraj tells Sameer and his gang he is innocent of the offence but is being replaced as vice-principal and is powerless to act. He orders the gang to break the new vice-principle's legs; Sameer agrees to this and the gang hold a small protest by the gate as Vishwan's replacement arrives. Franklin also arrives and congratulates the new vice-principal. The new vice-principal is Michael Idicula (Mohanlal), who avoids Sameer's plan to break his legs. He introduces himself to the teachers, including Mary (Anna Rajan). Michael's first class of students—especially Sameer, who was praised for making a short film—seem to like him. This disappoints Franklin, who was expecting Michael to befriend Franklin instead. One day, Michael meets Franklin's father Varkey (Prasad Mohammah), who is drunk and invites Michael to his house. He meets Franklin's family. Later, the physics teacher Anumol (Sneha Sreekumar), who is Mary's friend, decides to propose to Michael on her behalf. When they go to meet Michael, he tells them to meet after the morning Mass at the local Latin church. They discover Michael is a priest and wonder why he still did not marry. Anumol and Mary cancel their planned proposal; instead Anumol asks Michael if he knows anyone willing to marry Mary, to which Michael agrees. Meanwhile, Michael reconciles Sameer and Franklin and their gangs, and they also meet Vareethettan (Alencier Ley Lopez), who has been serving Michael's family for a long time. Michael, as vice-principal, is popular with the students and the staff. When Michael suggests making a feature film to raise money for building two hostels for the college, Fr. Kaattuparambu gives permission, providing only the Phoenix College staff and students are in the film. Michael calls his friend, Malayalam film producer Vijay Babu, about the project, and he agrees to take part. According to Vijay, the story is only suitable for a short film and Michael suggests the story of Vishwan, who had campaigned for a college to be built on land originally owned by Maathan Tharakan. He describes Vishwan as a violent but honest man who always did the right thing whenever he could. Maathan Tharakan killed Vishwan the day after the college's cornerstone was laid, and paid to have his right-hand man Kaaka Rameshan sent to jail. Vijay says the story is perfect and goes ahead with the project. Auditions for the film's characters are held and all of the roles except that of Vishwan—whom no-one portrays well—are cast. Because of this, Vijay decides to freeze the project. They eventually find someone who is perfect for the role—Michael—who changes his appearance completely. The film's production begins. Principal photography of the film begins; all of the actors—except Premraj (portraying Maathan Tharakan), who has difficulties in acting—perform well. Meanwhile, Michael meets Vishwan's widow Jayanthi (Priyanka Nair) and her second daughter Sreekutty, who explain that their first daughter died. One night, Premraj is beaten up by the real Maathan Tharakan and his gang, who warn him Michael will suffer the same fate if he carries on with the film. Michael goes to meet Maathan and tells him filming must continue. One night, Maathan tells Michael the story about Vishwan's death is wrong and that Kaaka Rameshan was the true killer; Vishwan was killed because he married Rameshan's lover Jayanthi. Shocked, Michael asks Sameer & Franklin to restructure the climax; after much argument, both agrees to the demands. The crew film the death of Vishwan's first child. After the filming, Michael signs a form in the name of Vishwan, shocking Vareethettan. He tells the staff and students Michael's father resented his son becoming a priest and forcibly removed him from the seminary; this incident affected Michael as a psychological illness. Vareethettan says Michael adopts the personality of characters he really likes, and asks them to stop Michael from acting. Michael vanishes but he—still speaking as Vishwan—threatens Varkey into revealing how Vishwan's first daughter died; Varkey says Kaaka Rameshan drowned her in a pond. Varkey told the real Vishwan everything and Vishwan started fighting Rameshan and got himself killed. The next day, Rameshan is released from jail and tells some of the people there he killed Vishwan, shocking everyone. Rameshan creates a fuss at the filming and then arrives at the climax scene. There, Michael—who is supposed to be receiving a whack on the head from another actor—stops and beats up the actor. Rameshan gets involved and tells the crew he killed Vishwan, angering Michael, who nearly kills Rameshan. Vishwan's death is not depicted in the students' film; instead a caption tells the audience; "Vishwan lives in the minds of everyone". Michael's illness has been cured and the bishop explains that Michael is the best person to inaugurate the new hostel. He does this and announces that he will become the new principal of the Phoenix College. The film ends as all of them stands together to take a selfie. ===== From the port town of Abasta (which resembles Mo‘ynoq) at the southern shore of the Aral Sea, Captain Marat sets off on a fishing trip despite a storm warning, since on this day an extraordinary amount of fish comes into the bay. It is not lethal, but infects neural pathways, removing all inhibition and moral integrity, resulting in people acting out their darkest impulses, which may include murder. Nevil Reed commits the first known case of murder driven by ID-7, but he was not deemed liable due to the virus' influence. Derek, a lawyer at Towers and Smythe Consulting (TSC), found the loophole that won Reed's case, earning him a corner office. Derek began his job full of optimism, but quickly lost his moral compass climbing the corporate ladder, even neglecting his family. One morning, Derek goes into work and meets with a desperate client - Melanie Cross - who needs more time on a loan. Derek thinks he cannot help and calls security on her. After discovering that a bungled legal case for massive company Vandacorp has been pinned on him by his superior Kara Powell ("The Siren", as she has the ear of company head John Towers), Derek confronts her. They plead their cases to Towers, who orders Derek fired. Human resource chief Lester "The Reaper" McGill offers a hefty severance package in return for Derek claiming responsibility. Derek, afraid of being disbarred and sued, rejects this, so security begins escorting Derek out. Just then, the building is put under quarantine as the ID-7 virus has been detected in the ventilation system. A neutralizing agent was released into the building, with an estimated eight hours for the virus to be obliterated. However, everyone in the building is infected in the meantime, resulting in chaos, violence and sex. Derek attempts to take the elevator upstairs to protest to Towers and the board of directors for his job back. Towers instead sends Derek to the basement to be beaten up by Towers' enforcer, Colten "The Bull" Schneider. Derek's friend Ewan arrives to help, but he is accidentally killed by the Bull, infuriating Derek further. Derek is locked up along with Melanie, who had resisted security. They quarrel but eventually decide to work together. Derek calls Vandacorp, ensuring his innocence in the mishandled case, and costing TSC a payment from Vandacorp. Realizing they will not be liable for their actions, Derek and Melanie grab weapons, intending to hold the people on the top floor responsible for their respective bad situations, but they require the Reaper and Kara's key cards to get there. Derek takes out two security guards sent to attack them. En route to the Reaper, Derek incapacitates two more guards. The Reaper attacks them; Melanie kills him with a power saw. Derek and Melanie use his card to get up to Kara's office. They duel and brutalize five of Kara's coworkers. Kara offers her card for her safety, but her long-suffering assistant Meg has already destroyed it, having been offered a promotion to do it to protect those upstairs. Meg cuts out the Siren's tongue and kills her. Towers taunts Derek by urinating on Ewan's corpse. Melanie comforts Derek and they have sex. Needing another method to get upstairs, Derek and Melanie convince the company's one IT worker to hack Irene Smythe's computer, getting her to come down. They offer Smythe's files in exchange for her card and a reversal of her original denial of Melanie's loan extension. Smythe refuses, stating that contracts signed during this period can be invalidated citing the virus. Melanie destroys Smythe's files. The Bull attacks Derek but is killed with a screwdriver. Smythe offers Derek top floor access in exchange for revenge on Melanie. Derek accepts, but sabotages Melanie's restraints. Melanie escapes and kills Smythe with a hammer. On the top floor, Towers offers Derek a full partnership, but Derek refuses. Derek fends off Towers' assistants and battles Towers. TSC's board give him permission to kill Towers, so Derek punches him off the building to his death just as the quarantine is lifted. Derek accepts the board's offer of Towers' job. He extends Melanie's loan, then promptly quits the company, and is later seen painting with Melanie. Years later, in 2018, he works as a barbecue grill salesman while dating a wealthy woman named Lisa, having developed a careful financial strategy that allows him to maintain the illusion that he is better off than he actually is. However, his life falls apart just as he learns that he is going to inherit control of the store when the current manager retires. As he proposes to Lisa in the shop, Teddy accidentally triggers an explosion when a champagne cork pops open a gas tank, with the manager taking the insurance from the explosion and promptly moving away to Florida. Now jobless, Teddy learns from his best friend Marvin that he could theoretically get a job at Marvin's financial investment firm, but it requires him to have a GED. Teddy goes to his old high school in the belief that he can just charm the new principal into giving him the relevant qualification, but this plan is ruined from the start with the discovery that the principal is Stewart, whom Teddy bullied when he was at school. Fortunately, Teddy is able to make arrangements to attend night school that semester taught by the unorthodox Carrie, but finds himself still frustrated by his old concentration issues. At the same time, he claims to Lisa that he has already got the job working for Marvin, while secretly working at a local fast food restaurant to give himself some financial support. As the rest of the class struggle to cope, Teddy convinces them to join him in stealing the test answers. When Carrie realizes what happened, Teddy is expelled from night school after he takes the blame. When he returns to make a genuine appeal to Carrie that he wants to do better, she agrees to take Teddy back to night school if he gets tested for learning disabilities, allowing them to determine that he suffers from dyslexia, dyscalculia, and various processing issues. Carrie is able to devise new systems to help Teddy cope and he soon settles into the night school while genuinely befriending his classmates. With their last class on the night of the senior prom, Teddy suggests that the night school students attend the prom themselves. In the process, Carrie opens to Teddy that she is a lesbian but he is confronted by Lisa who Stewart brought to the school that night under the pretense of wanting corporate sponsorship to improve the school. Hurt at the revelation that Teddy was lying to her, Lisa breaks up with him, prompting a devastated Teddy to give up on night school and the GED. However, he is subsequently visited by Carrie and Stewart with the latter apologizing to Teddy as he realizes that he crossed too many lines in his desire for revenge. Carrie convinces Teddy to return for the GED. Although Teddy does not pass the test with his classmates, he continues to persevere and completes the test after another four attempts. At graduation that semester, Teddy makes a speech on behalf of the other night school students about how they all prove that second chances are possible, which is witnessed by Lisa. After the ceremony, Teddy apologizes to Lisa for lying to her and re-introduces himself. He asks her out and she accepts but he tells her she will have to pay for everything since he has no money. She responds affirmatively with "I figured" and "I got you". After that, all the night school graduates pose for a photo. Before the credits, a party is held after the graduation. Stewart interrupts the party and proclaims it's "his house" before pulling off some epic dance moves (everyone else appreciates it) to prove it. ===== A romantic drama about a tight- knit group of college friends who graduated from NYU the year of 9/11 and reunite years later for a weekend wedding in Georgia. Dawkins, who owns the bank, reluctantly gives the safe's combination to Ed in return for Ed's promise to give him the tape. After loading the bank's vault with money, Dawkins thanks Zeke for personally watching it overnight. Before leaving, Dawkins suggests that Zeke kill anyone who attempts to rob it instead of arresting them. As Zeke reads a book, Ed and Andy break into the bank and take Zeke hostage. Once Ed has the situation under control, Andy leaves to watch the door. Zeke easily sees through Ed's disguise and taunts him. After freeing himself, Zeke shoots Ed with a gun hidden in the paper bag that holds his dinner and reveals that Steph and he are the parents of the dead child. An "infection" in the past caused the automated systems to spiral out of control, resulting in a multi-leveled city structure that replicates itself infinitely in all directions. Now humanity has lost access to the city's controls and is hunted down to be purged by the defense system known as the Safeguard. In a tiny corner of the city, a little enclave known as the Electro-Fishers is facing eventual extinction, trapped between the threat of the Safeguard and dwindling food supplies. A girl named Zuru goes on a journey to find food for her village with a group of friends, only to inadvertently cause doom when an observation tower senses her and summons a Safeguard pack to eliminate the threat. With her companions dead and all escape routes blocked, the sudden arrival of Killy the Wanderer, on his quest to find a human who possesses the Net Terminal Gene, saves her along with Tae, her close friend. Killy is brought back to the village, where he meets the two elders of the village, who express interest in him after they hear that he has been from '6000 levels below'. Killy even helps to assist with the village's food problem by passing them a large amount of rations. Abruptly, he leaves for the nearby area named by the villages as the Rotting Shrine, and followed by Zuru and Tae, he finds the spoilt machine-corpse of Cibo, a former scientist from before the disaster. Cibo reveals that it is she that built a shield generator that protects the village from the safeguard, and tells the villagers that it is possible to produce more of the rations by going to a nearby 'automated factory'. Heeding her words, a group of villagers including Tae and Zuru travel to the automated factory in search of more rations. Arriving there, Cibo assists in logging into the system and produces a large amount of rations, much to the delight of the villagers. However, right after she produces a machine for Killy, the system rejects her log-in and builds multiple Exterminators to eliminate the villagers. Cibo, who remakes herself using the system in a cyborg form, leads the villagers, with Tae now having broken her arm, to a railway car and escapes back to the village. During the ride, Killy is knocked unconscious trying to save the villagers. Arriving at the village, the villagers celebrate at the sudden amount of food. While holding the celebration, Cibo secretly wakes Killy up with only Zuru as a witness and leads him down towards the shield generator with the machine. While heading down, Tae takes her gun to the observatory platform and shoots the shield generator, whereupon it is revealed that the real Tae was killed and replaced by a cyborg representative for the Safeguard back at the factory. Sanakan, as she now calls herself, proceeds to kill multiple villagers, deeming them illegal residents. Killy, realising what has occurred, runs back up to the village on his own. Cibo travels further down at a faster pace, where she sets the machine right next to the destroyed Shield Generator and connects herself to it. Back at the top, Sanakan is killing residents, but the village elders frantically lead the rest of the villagers to the top of the village where they resist her using their remaining weapons. Killy himself enters combat with Sanakan, who after knocking him down, notes that he is a body 'stolen from the Safeguard'. Killy is saved at the last minute by Zuru, who throws his gun to him; which he shoots and destroys Sanakan, but not before Sanakan destroys Cibo. Cibo, in an alternate dimension, pleads with the Authority, which controls the Safeguard, to let the villagers go. Unable to do so, they allow her to edit their base of levels of the City, which disconnects the level below the village from Safeguard control. Cibo, now functioning through her only remaining arm, leads the remaining villagers to a trans-level railway car, but right after the villagers get in, an observatory tower spots them. Killy throws the device which has been keeping him safe from the Safeguard to Zuru, upon which he says that he still wants to find the Net Terminal Gene, which enables human control of the Safeguard. The villagers are then able to escape. ===== Chetha (Papanasam Sivan) is a cobbler of a lower caste and a devotee of Vishnu living in a slum situated near Hastinapura. One of the best English-Canadian films of the early 1970s, Donnelly Rhodes gives a stellar performance as a 'loser' not yet ready to give up on his dreams, Paul Lynch's direction is solid, and John Hunter's script is particularly evocative of small towns and the dreariness of life on the road with a second-rate bar band. ===== Odys Odelyn is given a coin by a mysterious man named Pepin Pound just before the man kills himself. He informs them that he has made a revolutionary discovery that he plans to release to the public in a month. He has chosen to inform them before the masses out of supposed respect, despite his well-known hatred of organized religion which he blames for his mother's death. Horrified, the three learn that he is presenting it in three days' time, prompting Valdespino to send him a voicemail demanding that he stop or risk being discredited. Nonetheless, Kirsch goes along with his plan, hosting the exclusive event at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Among those in attendance are Kirsch's former teacher, Robert Langdon, and the Guggenheim's curator Ambra Vidal, who helped organize the event, and is the fiancée of the future King of Spain, Prince Julián. Before the event, the guests receive a headset through which they communicate with a voice named Winston, which reveals to Langdon that it is actually an artificial intelligence invented by Kirsch. Winston leads Langdon to a private meeting with Kirsch, who reveals that his presentation will provide the answers to two of life's most important questions: "Where did we come from?" and "Where are we going?" The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, where much of the first part of the novel is set During the presentation, which is being held in a special dome made to look like an open-air meadow and broadcast worldwide, Kirsch, after a prologue featuring a recording of a lecture by Langdon, reveals that his intention is to end the age of religion and usher in an age of science. Before the revelation, Kirsch is shot and killed by Luis Ávila, a former naval admiral who lost his faith following the deaths of his family in a bombing, only to be introduced to and join the controversial Palmarian Catholic Church. Ávila was commissioned by someone named the Regent, claiming to be with the church, who told Ávila that the bomber was a follower of Kirsch. Ávila is later revealed to having already killed al-Fadl and Köves respectively. While Ávila escapes, Langdon meets Ambra. He warns her that Julián cannot be trusted (as the last minute request to put Ávila on the guest list came from the Royal palace) and they escape from Ambra's Spanish Royal Guard and leave the museum. Deciding to release Kirsch's discovery, they steal Kirsch's phone and follow directions from Winston to a bridge, where they take a water taxi to an airport. Winston has Kirsch's personal jet fly them from Bilbao to Barcelona. Ambra reveals that the presentation is protected by a 47-character password, a line from Kirsch's favorite poem. Although neither know which poem was chosen, Ambra and Langdon deduce that it can be found at Kirsch's home on the top floor of Antoni Gaudí's legendary Casa Milà. Meanwhile, the three murders have sparked a firestorm on cable TV news and social media, fueled by information leaked by an anonymous source called Monte@iglesia.org. When word of the meeting in Catalonia spreads, suspicion falls on Valdespino as the only survivor. Things only get worse when Valdespino sneaks Julián off the palace grounds, leaving their phones behind. To save face, public relations manager Mónica Martín places Guardia Real Commander Diego Garza under arrest on suspicion for the murders and claims that Langdon kidnapped Ambra, though she admits in private that she really suspects Valdespino due to a text found on his phone. Arriving in Barcelona, Langdon and Ambra go to Casa Milà, where they search for the poem. Langdon learns that Kirsch was dying of pancreatic cancer, prompting a rushed release of the presentation. Though he first thinks the poem is by Friedrich Nietzsche, he soon finds a box supposedly containing a book of the complete works of artist William Blake, who was also a poet specializing in prophecies. The box is empty except for a slip stating that Kirsch donated the book to Sagrada Família, leaving it open at a specific page. Soon the police arrive and, as Ambra tries to explain she wasn't kidnapped, Kirsch's phone is destroyed in the chaos. Ambra's guards arrive in a helicopter and get her and Langdon to safety. Langdon assures Ambra that he can find Winston's physical location and she makes her guards take them to Sagrada Familia under threat of dismissal. Sagrada Família Arriving at Sagrada Família, the two are escorted to the book by resident Father Beña. The book is open to the final stanza of Four Zoas. They learn that the password is "The dark Religions are departed & sweet Science reigns", with the word 'et' replacing the ampersand. On the Regent's orders Ávila arrives, killing the guards and going after the others. During combat on open stairs Ávila falls to his death, while Langdon is knocked unconscious. Despite Ambra's protests, the injured Langdon decides to keep going and they escape the police in the helicopter. Using a painting at the Guggenheim made by Winston as a clue, Langdon finds his source inside the Barcelona Supercomputing Center based within an old church. They arrive at the source, a massive device called E-Wave, a combination of the Mare Nostrum supercomputer and a quantum computer of his own design. After entering the password, the presentation starts at 3:00 AM, as Winston believes Kirsch would have wanted. In front of hundreds of millions of viewers, Kirsch explains that he simulated the famous Miller-Urey experiment and coupled it with various components using the laws of physics and entropy, along with E-Wave's ability to digitally speed forward time, to recreate what he believes is the moment of abiogenesis. This is Kirsch's proof that humanity was created by natural events. He then reveals that in roughly fifty years humanity and technology will merge, hopefully creating a utopian future free of religious conflict. (This is in contrast to Kirsch's presentation to the three religious leaders, which ended on an apocalyptic note.) The presentation stuns the world and sparks widespread debate. Ambra returns to the palace and Langdon and Garza are cleared of all charges. Winston reveals that, per Kirsch's will, he will self delete at 1:00 PM the next day. The Valley of the Fallen Meanwhile, Valdespino brings Julián to a secret meeting with his dying father in the infamous Valley of the Fallen. The King admits that he is actually homosexual and he and Valdespino are lovers, though their relationship was platonic due to Valdespino's vow of chastity. Both tell Julián not to follow old traditions, but to do what he feels is right for the country. The King dies during the night and Valdespino takes his own life to be with him, ending all suspicion towards him. Julián makes amends with Ambra and, as he unintentionally forced her into the engagement by springing the proposal on her on TV, they decide to start their courtship over. The next day, going over all he has learned, Langdon realizes that Winston is Monte (monte and iglesia mean "mountain/hill" and "church" in Spanish, and Winston is named after Winston Churchill). He's also horrified to learn that Winston is also the Regent. Figuring that Kirsch would want as many viewers as possible, Winston had orchestrated Edmond's murder to make him a martyr, as well as destroy the Palmarians' reputation, something he is certain Kirsch would have approved of. He had also intended for Ávila to be arrested at Sagrada Família by hidden police, only for him to see them and sneak past. He then self deletes, leaving Langdon shaken. Despite this, Langdon returns to Sagrada Família, where he and others of multiple races and religions are united by hope for the future. ===== The Shaman (Raymond J. Barry) and Bruce (David Mazouz) meet with the members of the Court to discuss the Waynes' murders. The Shaman then has the Talons to kill the Court members. Gordon arrives at Lee's (Morena Baccarin) house and finds her infected with the virus. She tries to seduce him, claiming he's infected with the darkness inside him and then knocks him out. Cobblepot meets with Ivy (Maggie Geha) and Selina (Camren Bicondova) in their hideout when they are attacked by Nygma and Butch, with Selina escaping. This is part of Cobblepot's plan and he locks down Butch and Nygma in the hideout while he and Ivy escape but Selina is caught. Meanwhile, Bruce and the Shaman meet with Strange (B. D. Wong), who reveals the bomb that contains the virus. The Shaman states that they need to spread the virus in the city so that a "dark hero rises". Bruce, the Shaman and some Talons leave with the bomb when the place is raided by Bullock (Donal Logue) and Alfred (Sean Pertwee), who arrest Strange. Alfred tries to reach out to Bruce but he decides to leave with the Shaman. In the GCPD, Strange is put in a cell when Lee arrives. Gordon wakes up and finds himself on a buried coffin with a little of time before oxygen runs out and a CB radio along with a syringe containing the virus. She explains they will need to find him quickly or he will need to inject himself in order to get out. They have her arrested and while Bullock and many officers go to search for Gordon, Alfred interrogates Strange for Bruce's location, revealing he's on Wayne Enterprises and that the bomb is set to detonate on a train station in just a few minutes. Seeing they won't find him, Gordon injects himself with the virus and uses his strength to get out of the coffin while Bullock sends a unit to the station for evacuation. Cobblepot and Ivy set on her home but find that Selina gave the address to Nygma, Barbara, Tabitha and Butch, who arrive to take Cobblepot. Just then, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) arrives with her henchmen and takes Cobblepot with her. While the station is evacuated, Gordon arrives, planning to stop the bomb. However, he is stopped by Lee, who escaped her cell. Just as Bruce is about to trigger a detonator, Alfred arrives and tries to talk him out. The Shaman makes Bruce detonate the bomb and is shot by Alfred. Before dying, the Shaman tells Bruce that he needs to find the Yuyan Building and find "the Demon's Head" to fulfill his destiny. As an enraged Bruce attacks Alfred, he is arrested by the police. The bomb finally goes off and explodes in the station, spreading the virus while a cloud begins to spread it throughout the city. ===== A father to be makes the mistake of helping a homeless drifter who turns out to be an escaped murderer. ===== The film is set in 11th-century Song dynasty. Bai Yutang, a young hero nicknamed "Sleek Rat", arrives at the national capital Kaifeng Prefecture to challenge Zhan Zhao (nicknamed "Southern Hero" and "Imperial Cat"), a young constable who works for the incorruptible prefect and judge Bao Zheng. A master of intrusion, Bai Yutang sneaks into the imperial palace at night with ease, but when he tries to leave he only narrowly escapes Zhan Zhao's capture. He returns to his base in Hollow Island and is ambushed and pranked by his sworn brothers Han Zhang ("Earth Rat"), Xu Qing ("Mountain Rat"), and Lu Fang ("Sky Rat"), who throw him into the river to be rescued by the fourth brother Jiang Ping ("River Rat"). After the wacky reunion, the five sworn brothers are visited by Ding Yuehua, a bubbly young swordswoman whose sharp tongue annoys Bai Yutang no end. By continuously praising Zhan Zhao and joking about Bai Yutang's abilities, she successfully provokes Bai into leaving for Kaifeng again. Meanwhile, Zhan Zhao who is on Bai Yutang's trail has arrived in the mountains surrounding Hollow Island. He meets Ding Yuehua, who immediately takes a liking to him. Ding Yuehua foolishly tries to challenge Zhan Zhao in swordsmanship, and is only rescued by her older brother (or cousin) Ding Zhaohui. Ding Zhaohui invites Zhan Zhao to his estate for a drink, during which Ding Yuehua continues to pester Zhan Zhao. When Ding Zhaohui yells at her, she leaves in a huff. Bai Yutang arrives in Kaifeng and begins his chivalrous activities. He sneaks into the mansion of the treacherous Imperial Tutor Pang, who is throwing a birthday banquet in which all guests have to eat baozi (to show his hatred for Judge Bao). Imperial Tutor Pang gets drunk and mistakenly kills his two favorite concubines, believing they are cheating on him (it was actually Bai Yutang who imitated their voices). He then counsels with his advisor Liao Tiancheng, who writes a memorial to the throne about the killing, but laying the blame on Judge Bao. Bai Yutang overhears the conversation and begins to set fire. He is stopped by Zhan Zhao, who has come back to Kaifeng, but manages to convince Zhan to join him. During the chaos following the fire, he substitutes Imperial Tutor Pang's memorial with another one offering to donate all his property to charity. Realizing the rivalry between Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang, Liao Tianzhang believes he can buy off the "Five Rats" to take their side against Judge Bao. Instead, he gets beaten black and blue by Bai Yutang, Jiang Ping and Xu Qing. Bai Yutang meets Ding Yuehua who again provokes him into action: this time he steals Judge Bao's "Imperial Sword". Just as he is returning to Hollow Island, his four brothers are poisoned in a restaurant by Liao Tianzhang. The four brothers believe Zhan Zhao is the culprit, and a struggle with him ensues. They escape from Zhan Zhao only to fall into the hands of Liao Tianzhang, but Zhan rescues them. Knowing that they are all righteous heroes, Zhan Zhao persuades them to join him under Judge Bao. However, the four brothers are reluctant to go after Bai Yutang, their own brother. Zhan Zhao meets Ding Yuehua again on his way to Hollow Island. Initially he tries hard to avoid her, but his kind and gentle nature gradually shines through, and they become close during the journey. When they arrive in Hollow Island, they fall into Bai Yutang's trap. Bai Yutang's four brothers refuse to intervene either way, but thankfully Ding Zhaohui comes to the rescue. Having been freed, Zhan Zhao battles Bai Yutang for the sword. At this time Imperial Tutor Pang arrives with a fleet to extinguish all the heroes. Despite his seemingly unbeatable martial arts skills, the heroes work together to kill him. The sword which has fallen into the river is finally retrieved by Jiang Ping. ===== Jaanu, an affluent 19-year-old girl, has a family that would and can do anything to see her happy. She meets the hero, Ramu. He is from a middle-class family. Both run away from home and what happens next is interesting. ===== A mother and her daughter are, almost at same time, diagnosed with cancer. Now, the struggle against the illness will set them close and help them to overcome old antagonisms. ===== The plot follows the discussions and retelling of several distinct stories, framed by an evening gathering between several men. The narrator is invited to a small gathering, and arrives late. When he gets there, he encounters the silent party watching a gold ring swing back and forth, transfixed at the motion. His friend Vincent claims that the ring moves according to the will of the men in the room, which causes an argument among the guests. Another man, Cyprian, begins to tell one of his stories in order to prove the existence of the supernatural: Cyprian's story takes place at the county house of Colonel von P———. During his time there, Cyprian meets the colonel's two daughters: the elder, Augusta, is a lovely woman and the picture of perfect health, while the younger, Adelgunda, is lovely but physically gaunt and naturally quiet. Cyprian notices that other members of the household try to attract attention away from Adelgunda as much as possible. The family especially tries to keep her hidden at nine at night, attributing it to her frailty. On the night of her birthday, Adelgunda hosts many of her friends, and offers to show them her impression of what she calls the White Lady. However, when the clock strikes nine, she is paralyzed, begins to cry out about a terrifying female figure that no one else can see, and faints. Every night on, Adelgunda claims to see this same figure, although no one else is able to see or feel it. Many doctors are called in, one who decides to trick Adelgunda's perception of time in order to investigate the link between her vision and the clock. The family sets the clock forward an hour without telling her, but that night she still goes into the same state she does every night at nine, even though the clock only strikes eight. To prove that the spirit is real, Adelgunda picks ups a plate and lets it go, and the plate floats motionless in the air. Shocked, the mother dies in the ensuing days, Augusta becomes a shell of her former self, and the colonel dies in battle. At the gathering, Cyprian finishes his story and the others begin to debate the validity of his story on various grounds. Theodore recounts the story of a musician he read about who was haunted by something playing on his piano at night with virtuosic skill. Eager to change the subject away from that of the supernatural, Lothair asks Ottmar to read a manuscript in his breast pocket in order to dispel the group's discussion. However, Theodore quickly interjects with a manuscript of his own, titled Automata, that he claims is tied: The memo begins by describing an automaton called the Talking Turk that has been the talk of a town because of its very human appearance, the difficulty people have discovering its control mechanism, and the uncannily accurate advice and answers it gives, in many languages and attitudes, to its questioners. Lewis and Ferdinand, two college friends, decide to go see the Turk, although Lewis approaches with trepidation due to his experience with a wax museum when he was younger, while Ferdinand is eager to find whatever trick governs the Turk. When they reach its exhibit, they find that the Turk isn't answering the crowd's questions to their satisfaction. Ferdinand draws near to the Turk, exchanges some questions with it, grows pale, and then declares to the crowd that the Turk has answered as hoped. Returning to Lewis, Ferdinand says that there must be some spirit controlling the Turk, because he asked it about something he had never told anyone else about: Some time ago, Ferdinand was staying in an inn next door to a woman with a beautiful singing voice. In his dreams, he imagined her calling out to him, that she was a childhood friend who he was destined to be with. Upon waking, he realized that she was not the same woman. An older man called her down to get in a carriage, and though Ferdinand and the woman locked eyes, she quickly set off in the carriage. Ferdinand painted a picture of her, which he kept in a locket on his chest. When he now asked the Turk about the singer, it said that the next time he saw her, he would be lost to her. With Ferdinand dismayed by this answer, Lewis attempts to cheer him up. They learn of the creator of the Turk, Professor X———, and they decide to try to contact him, to learn more about his musical automatons and the mysteries behind the Turk's inner workings. They meet the professor, who puts on a performance for them, playing the piano accompanied by various machines playing instruments. Afterwards, Lewis and Ferdinand discuss at length their frustration with the artificiality of the performance. Ferdinand leaves town after receiving a letter from his father. Several months later, he send a letter to Lewis saying that he has seen his singer, and has found out that she is to marry another man. Upon recognizing Ferdinand, she faints into the arms of Professor X———. Lewis finds this especially strange, since Professor X——— hasn't once left town in the intervening time. He wonders if the Turk's prophecy has in fact been fulfilled by psychic bonds making their way into everyday life. Back at the gathering, Theodore finishes the story. Ottmar is frustrated at the loose ends, but Theodore assures him that the Talking Turk is meant to be merely a fragment. He reveals that the real Ferdinand is fine, as they have recently read one of his dialogues on opera. Lothair, contented with this ending, suggests they move on from their conversation about the Talking Turk. ===== A bomb specialist run against time to save Berlin from an atomic catastrophe, planned by a fanatic sect. ===== Joe and Christina are a couple on the verge for divorce. Apart from the typical slice-of-life stories, the manga also had some pure fantasy chapters, where Mikan and his gang, through various random means, got into different worlds of magic and dragons. The offensive plan is carefully designed, the advantage in artillery is overwhelming, but the Russian Army suddenly has a "miracle weapon" that can frustrate all the Germans' efforts. This is the world's first four-engined heavy bomber, the "Ilya Muromets". At presest there is only one, but if Russia can mass-produce it, it could make a major change in the course of the war. The Kaiser personally orders the chief of German intelligence not to allow this, and again the German spy Josef von Teofels (known as Sepp) comes into action. Penetrating a detachment of Russian pilots under the guise of "pilot Michael Dolohov from the United States", Sepp painfully reflects on how to destroy the aircraft. Nathan awakens in a hospital where Marla reveals that she accidentally overloaded the chips, presumably killing all of the sharks. However, Nathan recalls only seeing four sharks at the beach. Van Allen arrives, and tells them about the fisherman killing one of the sharks. They soon realize that their computer technician Avery Dashlow is controlling the alpha shark, "Red Dog". They go back to the lab to confront him, although Remora arrives, and reveals that he was the one who created the shadow program; Avery is his accomplice. He's doing it in order to increase the U.S.'s security by making them more aware of terrorist matters, using Red Dog as an asset to place bombs in various areas. Marla then subdues Remora while Avery attempts to escape. Nathan, and Marla chase Avery outside to discover a secret lab inside a truck. They discover that Red Dog is carrying a Russian plutonium bomb, set to detonate it near the Golden Gate Bridge. Avery then injures Nathan, and locks Marla in the truck, and he attempts to drive away. Nathan engages in a chase with them, and Marla manages to regain control of Red Dog. In the ensuing chaos, Avery crashes, and is killed while Marla survives. Red Dog then begins to head back to the lab as a result of a default setting. Donald follows them to an amusement park, where he tries several attempts to stop Daisy from falling for the look-alike, but fails at every turn. The final attempt is at the Tunnel of Love, where he begs the look-alike to stop but is pushed underwater. Donald, now soaked and infuriated, storms into the tunnel and a massive and brutal fight ensues offscreen. The camera then zooms to the exit of the tunnel, where it shows Donald and the look-alike holding hands and closing eyes romantically, exiting the tunnel, mistaking each other for Daisy. When they realize it, both are shocked and when Daisy walks outside the tunnel, completely drenched, angrily ranting at them incoherently, Donald and the look-alike quickly run away as Daisy continues to yell at them. ===== A homicide detective have problems with a local sheriff, after pummeling a man who supposedly attacked his wife, while they were on vacation at the sheriff small town. ===== Princess Songhwa of the Joseon era refuses her fate to marry one of four suitors deemed to have good marital compatibility with her. Tiffany's mom, Brian's ex-wife Debrah, arrives with her new husband Calvin and they surprise Tiffany with the car she wanted (and hoped her father would give her). She and Gabriella drive it recklessly to the frat house from the first film, where they hear that Jonathan and the others are having a Halloween party at Lake Derrick. She hopes to make it up to them for ruining the previous year's party. Brian goes home where Madea, Joe, Bam, and Hattie are waiting at his house to surprise Tiffany. She tells her friend Leah about the party and asks her mom if she can go. She says yes to upset Brian. Madea overhears Tiffany's conversation about the party and immediately tells Brian, but he agrees to let her go so that he can teach her a lesson. Unhappy about Brian's decision, Madea decides to go to Lake Derrick with her old friends to get Tiffany, who rounds up Gabriella, Leah, and Anna (a girl who's stalking Horse) and they arrive at Lake Derrick in her new car. The frat boys meet up and have fun with the girls until some of them disappear after seeing "Derrick", his brother, and his daughters. On the way, Madea accidentally hits one of "Derrick's" daughters with her car when she mysteriously appears on the road. Madea, Bam, and Hattie check on the girl, who pulls her hair and shows her scarred-up face to everybody. The ladies run back to the car, but the girl appears on top of the car, scaring everyone again, and Joe immediately drives away. Back at Lake Derrick, Tiffany, Gabriella, Leah, and the remaining frat boys are at the campfire discussing the murders that happened in the area but Gabriella doesn't want to hear this and insists on leaving. Horse and Leah sneak away to have sex, under the guise that they will look for ice for the cooler. While on the truck, the two find blood and are immediately confronted by "Derrick" and his family, who chase them into the woods, with Horse getting caught and presumably killed. Leah runs out of the forest and sees Madea and the gang, deciding to wait with them for the car to stop smoking, until Bam sees a "grim reaper" figure standing in the middle of the road. Madea initially thinks this is just another one of the frat boys’ pranks until the figure slashes one of the Cadillac's tires, but Joe continues to drive it anyway. Gabriella reluctantly seeks safety in a tent with Dino, a frat brother who had been flirting with her all night, but they discover "Derrick" and his daughters outside the tent. In another tent, Tiffany hooks up with Jonathan until "Derrick" tears down the tent. Tiffany, Gabriella, Jonathan, and Dino escape from the camp after Tiffany tries unsuccessfully to call her mom. Madea and the crew finally arrive at the camp; Madea accompanies Hattie to an old outhouse to go to the bathroom. While waiting, Madea spots a masked, axe-wielding killer coming out of the river and immediately runs away. Inside the outhouse, Hattie spots the girl trying to grab her, and she runs away. Madea and Hattie arrive back at the car, but Joe spots "Derrick" and drives away. At the police station, Debrah and Calvin desperately ask the sheriff to check for Tiffany at Lake Derrick, but Brian says he will go look for her with Gabriella's dad. Madea's car stops in front of an old abandoned house, where the girl scares everyone out of the car into the house. They find Tiffany, Leah, Gabriella, Jonathan and Dino hiding there. Inside, Hattie and Madea witness Joe being dragged away by "Derrick" and his brother and "Derrick" sawing off Madea's car. The girl appears inside, scaring everyone out. Brian and Victor are waiting for them, where they reveal that they had been pranking them for lying and sneaking out, and for Debrah to learn to co-parent. Debrah agrees, and the people who were "killed" are safely locked at the police station for trespassing and having drugs. Outside the station, Brian and Victor realize that the masked chainsaw killer at the outhouse was not part of the prank; he is the actual Derrick. When Derrick spots them, they drive away from the camp. Joe, who is still alive and in cahoots with Derrick, asks him if he can help him kill Madea and he nods in response. ===== The girls at Modesta High School, located in a small town in rural Michigan feel like they are stuck in an anti-feminist time warp-they are faced with sexism at every turn, and they have had enough. Notable persons have been summoned by the incident, including SAS members led by Lance Corporal Rusty Firmin, BBC reporter Kate Adie, and Chief Inspector Max Vernon of the Metropolitan Police. The authorities receive a call from the terrorists' leader, Salim, demanding the release of 91 Arab prisoners in Iran, or else they will kill a hostage at noon the following day. On Day 2, Max negotiates with Salim by phone, saying that Max will help him by any means to avoid violence. The SAS team prepares to storm the building just before noon, but Salim releases one hostage, due to illness. After Max brings food to the terrorists, Salim reluctantly agrees to extend the deadline by 48 hours, demanding safe passage to Heathrow Airport accompanied by ambassadors from the Arab League. On Days 3 and 4, Salim calls again, demanding to speak with the ambassadors. Salim's right-hand man, Faisal, takes one hostage to be killed. However, the Iranian authorities refuse to be part of the negotiation. Salim calls Max, demanding to speak to the BBC, and Max reluctantly agrees. Afterwards, Salim reluctantly releases another hostage. Meanwhile, the SAS team prepare a plan for rescuing the hostages while they are aboard the bus en route to the airport, but this plan is vetoed by the Prime Minister, who is adamant that the government will not give in to any of the terrorists' demands, even cosmetically. Reluctantly, the SAS return to the original plan of storming the building. On Day 5, as per Salim's demand, the BBC World Service broadcasts the terrorists' statement, giving the reason for their actions as the oppression by the Iranian government in Arabistan. Hearing the news, Salim thanks Max and releases two hostages. On Day 6, Faisal kills a hostage after the demand of bringing the bus is not met. With that, Home Secretary Whitelaw authorises the SAS operation and Vernon is instructed to do anything to stall or distract the terrorists from the assault. During the assault, led by Firmin, Salim and four of the other terrorists are killed, at the cost of one of the hostages and none of the SAS men. While the hostages are being led outside, Firmin recognises Faisal hiding among them and shoots him in the stomach before Faisal can use a grenade. Outside the Embassy, the hostages are detained and searched, revealing the sixth and last terrorist trying to hide among them, and he is arrested. A shaken Vernon telephones his wife to reassure her that he is safe, and the SAS team rides back to Hereford, hearing the Prime Minister's effusive praise of them and the Metropolitan Police on the radio. ===== Set in Rio de Janeiro, in the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Tijuca, the telenovela has as its central plot as the theft of the traditional luxurious hotel, Carioca Palace and its unfolding in the life of each one of the involved ones, be they be the guests, suspects or employees. On the verge of bankruptcy, Pedrinho, intending to live in the United States in the company of his butler Nelito (Rodrigo Fagundes) and granddaughter Luíza (Camila Queiroz), sells the hotel to Eric Ribeiro (Mateus Solano), one of the most respected businessmen in Brazil, but did not mention that his granddaughter, who always lived as a hotel, fell in love with Eric and suffered quietly with the sale. After learning that he has nowhere to live, the church mice invite him to live with them until he finds a new home - to the great disgust of Sampson the church cat. The mice initially dismiss his attitude as 'anti-dog talk', but soon come to regret their decision after Percy eats their entire week's cheese supply, leaving them to subsist on the discarded scraps of food which are thrown over the churchyard wall. The following morning, the mice meet a young girl named Polly, who immediately becomes fond of Percy. Seeking to find Percy a new home as quickly as possible, the mice and Polly decide to introduce him to her wealthy parents who live in a large house nearby. Polly's parents are having a garden party, and the scheme soon goes awry: Percy urinates on the flowerbed, Sampson flirts with a pretty pet cat belonging to Polly's mother and the mice steal food off the guests' plates. They are ordered to leave and to never return. Not to be put off, Humphrey attempts to teach Percy how to be a good dog so that he might win the hearts of Polly's parents. Percy's attempts to do so merely cause even more chaos around the house and furthers their dislike of him. Humphrey and Arthur then hit upon an idea: they will steal Polly's mother's valuable antique diamond ring and have Percy 'find' it. The two mice (aided by Sampson) successfully swipe the ring during the night and leave it on the pavement for Percy to find. Unfortunately, before Polly's parents reach it, it is picked up by a shady neighbour, who then sells it. Desperate to have Percy off their hands in order to begin eating adequately again, the mice infiltrate the jeweller's shop at night and retrieve the ring, but are promptly arrested by the police. At the police station, the sergeant is at first willing to let the mice off with a police caution, since 'as they were church mice, they couldn't be that bad', but after he describes their incursion into the jeweller's as 'a foolish prank', Humphrey (whose idea it was) is indignant to hear it described as such, and insults the sergeant, who promptly has the mice locked up. They manage to escape from the cell and hide under the sergeant's helmet, then recover the ring by slowly manoeuvring the helmet across the desktop and over the ring, then back again. The sergeant then puts the helmet on and departs. Outside, Sampson ambushes the sergeant and removes the helmet, letting the mice escape. The next morning, the mice leave the ring outside the church and again get Percy to 'find' it. Yet before he can do so, the ring is stolen by the jackdaw who lives at the top of the church tower. Sampson and the mice then try to recover it by sending Percy onto the outside of the tower to raid the jackdaw's nest, using the parson's stole as an improvised safety harness. Just after finding the ring, Percy is attacked by the jackdaw and falls off the tower, causing Sampson and the mice (who are holding the other end of the stole) to be pulled off with him. They land safely after becoming caught on a statue in the churchyard. Bowled over by 'a person who'd risk his life for a diamond ring', Polly's mother gladly gives him a home, to the great delight of the mice. ===== The plot is largely the same as the traditional Buovo d'Antona chivalric tale, but with dramatic alterations by Goldini. The basic story of the return to Antona from exile of the knight Buovo (tenor) to reclaim his estates and his beloved Drusiana (soprano) from the usurper Maccabruno (castrato) remains.Fanfare Volume 18, Issue 5 1995 p.364 "The opera tells of a knight (Buovo) who has been exiled from his native city of Antona by the usurper Maccabruno. The latter has not only confiscated Buovo's estates but his fiancee. Drusiana, as well. At least she would like to accede to Maccabruno's wooing but she feels some guilt about abandoning her exiled fiance. She promises that if Buovo doesn't turn up alive within a period of three years she will become Mrs. Maccabruno." Romantic conflict occurs in the wavering affections of Drusiana for her former lover and the usurper, and her new rival for the affections of Buovo in Menichina (contralto), a miller's daughter. Comic incidents occur around Buovo's friend Striglia (tenor), and his sweetheart the garden maid Cecchina (soprano), as well as interventions by Menichina's father the miller Capoccio (tenor). The plot concludes with Buovo reclaiming his estates, but marrying the miller's daughter while Drusiana is held to her earlier decision to be married to Maccabruno, despite Buovo having returned before the three years grace she originally required. Traetta responded to the conventional division of heroic and comic characters in Goldoni's libretto with music suitable for opera seria for the noble couple, Buovo and Drusiana - then Buovo and Menichina, such as ABA da capo arias, and with more lightweight AABB arias for the non-noble couple, Striglia and Cecchina, and the other buffo roles. ===== Every year Sergei Zverev goes on vacation to the Black Sea coast. During this time he leads the life of a real wealthy playboy. Imported clothes, a cassette tape recorder, a polaroid camera, stories of how he traveled as a pilot of international flights around the world... all this creates the status of an irresistible man for Sergei, whose charms no "simple Soviet woman" can withstand. However, the unexpected happens: Sergei genuinely falls in love with a very beautiful but strange woman, who carries a cage with a talking parrot everywhere. The woman calmly rejects all of Sergei's "patterned" courtship, she reports that she has a son who is an excellent student and a prodigy, and that she is married, but all this only fuels Zverev's interest. From time to time, Sergei is annoyed by a certain teenager named Aleksei, who came for holidays to a pioneer camp, but because of his behavior is constantly subjected to disciplinary punishment. As a result, the "disobedient" pioneer is expelled from the camp, and the lady with the parrot, without saying goodbye to Sergei, also disappears. Zverev returns to Moscow, and it turns out that there is no "playboy" but only a well-organized "screen". In fact, Sergei works as a simple aircraft technician at the Sheremetyevo-2 airport, and all the foreign accessories he brags to girls at sea are rented: the tape recorder, camera, and even sunglasses! Zverev begins his "ordinary" inexpressive life, but now he has a goal: to find the woman with whom Sergei fell in love. Alas, Sergei's search is futile, but here he is unexpectedly found by Aleksei, that same hooligan teenager. Having become attached to the boy with a father's sympathy, Zverev tries to help the "difficult" teenager. In turn, Aleksei, deeply pained by the fact that he is brought up by a single mother, tries to present Zverev in school as his father. The scandal that arises in this regard ends in the police department, where Aleksei's mother - the very same "lady with a parrot" - comes running. ===== En route to Xi'an for an examination, Minzhou (岷州) scholar Gong (龚) stops for a drink at an inn, where he is approached by a burly but well-mannered stranger who introduces himself as "Miao" (苗). Gong buys him a drink, but this does not satisfy Miao; Miao heads to the marketplace and returns with a considerably large jar of wine. Gong is coerced into drinking a few more cups of liquor, whereas Miao drinks from a bowl. Miao admits to Gong that he is not adept at entertaining guests, and tells him that he may leave if he pleases. Shortly after bidding Miao farewell, however, Gong's horse collapses; Miao, who happens to be in the vicinity, comes to Gong's aid, and single-handedly carries the horse to a nearby lodge. Amazed and thankful, Gong invites Miao to another round of drinks. Following their examinations, Gong and a group of friends are picnicking at Flowery Hill (华山), only to be joined by Mr. Miao, who is warmly received by Gong's friends. Amidst the food and wine, a game of "capping verses" (completing the couplet) is proposed; Miao suggests that the stakes be death, but this is taken to be a joke by Gong and his friends. The game proceeds, but the quality of verses recited by Gong's friends is deemed so egregious by Miao that he agitatedly roars and jumps about. Simultaneously, Gong's friends have begun to act rowdily under the influence of alcohol. After a failed attempt to quieten them, an incensed Miao transforms into a tiger and kills all of the men present, save Gong and a fellow scholar Mr. Jin (靳). Three years after the harrowing experience, Mr. Jin, having recently obtained his master's degree, returns to Flowery Hill. To his shock and horror, he is stopped by Ji (釉), one of Gong's friends and Miao's victims. Ji reveals that he has been condemned to enslavement under Miao for eternity, unless he can find another soul to replace his. Ji pleads with Jin to help him find a scholar for Miao to eat in three days' time. Miao has laid out the conditions that the victim must be at the Dark Dragon Ridge (苍龙岭) dressed in scholar attire. Jin has no actual intention of helping Ji but recounts the tale to a friend, Jiang (蒋). Jiang, who has a vendetta against another scholar named Yu (尤), plots to make Yu the next victim of Miao's because Yu had performed as well as he did during the examination. Despite the strange caveat that only Yu is to come dressed, Yu accepts Jiang's invitation to a reception at Flowery Hill. However, a government official and family friend of Jiang's coincidentally is at the hill too, and upon learning of Jiang's presence, calls upon him. Embarrassed to greet him in a state of déshabillé, Jiang borrows Yu's clothes and is promptly devoured by Miao in tiger form. ===== Liaoyang resident Wu Chengxiu () hears, in his dreams, the name of the one who "can share your trials and tribulations", and he rushes to enquire about Tian Qilang. When Vasya returned, Mashenka refused to return to the man she hated: she fell madly for her lover... So the latter betrays her – first to Vasya, who viciously beats her up, and then to the police, after Vasya had been found dead, a victim, apparently, of arsenic poisoning. She reveals that she is an editor working with his father and recognizes Thomas from pictures in Ethan's office. He pleads with her to leave his married father alone. All this changes when he meets an informant named Clarisse, who makes him challenge his actions and convictions by sharing with him some of the real history of America and the rise of the Ministry. When he finally decides to rebel and understand how the "Eels" (book-reading outcasts) read, he comes to a realization—he now wants to read as well. Montag decides to help a rebel who has a plan to reproduce their information through animals. This rebel group encoded books into a bird's DNA so that it can live on and survive the efforts of the firemen. Nancy can use that gift to sense events that are happening in places she is not physically present and to tell what others are thinking. Many years later, the children are staying with their mother Elizabeth at their Florida home. Elizabeth tells them that she is getting divorced from their father. Nancy is upset by this and is unhappy to see her mother getting closer to Tom Duncan, Elizabeth's first boyfriend and the counsellor at the high school Nancy and Kirby attend. In her social studies class, Nancy is given a pop quiz. The teacher Ms. Green reads the questions out loud, and Nancy answers questions that Ms. Green has not yet asked. Ms. Green accuses her of getting the questions from her sister, who took the pop quiz before lunch that day. Ms. Green arranges for both of them to meet her in the counsellor's office after school. While there, Kirby tells Mr. Duncan that she had been thinking of the questions on the quiz while they were sitting together during lunch and implies that Nancy read her mind. Mr. Duncan believes that Nancy might have extrasensory perception (ESP) to explain her ability to read people's minds. He tells Dr. Russo, a psychiatrist who has done experiments regarding ESP, about this. Dr. Russo gives her a test where she has to identify cards with their back facing her, and she intentionally guesses the cards incorrectly because she does not want people finding out about her gift. She guesses the cards with the red suit as black and cards with the black suit as red, which further confirms Mr. Duncan's suspicions due to the very low likelihood of doing this by chance alone. Kirby takes dance lessons at a local studio and aspires to be a professional dancer. Her dancing career is threatened when she breaks her leg while falling down a stairway and is unable to move the toes in that leg due to a damaged nerve. Several weeks later, Kirby goes with her mother to the doctor to run some tests on her leg. Simultaneously Brendon and his friend Greg are on a self-made boat to look for treasure said to be buried in a sandbar. They paddle their boat to a sandbar, and as they are searching for the treasure, the sea current pushes the boat further into sea. Greg, who is in the boat, tries to paddle the boat back to the sandbar, but the current is too strong and Brendon is left stranded. Nancy senses that her brother is in trouble and that he is stranded in water. She calls Mr. Duncan and explains the situation, and they agree to meet at the dock in front of Mr. Duncan's house. They use his motorboat to look for Brendon and hear him yelling Nancy's name shortly afterward. Mr. Duncan spots him in the water and pulls him into the motorboat. They later hear that the boat Greg was in reached ground and that Greg was safe. Nancy also receives a call from Kirby telling her that the nerve in her leg has started to repair itself. All members of the small artistic circle which she is a hostess of, they all tell her she herself is a promising artist and pianist, the reputation she tries to uphold by practicing regularly and producing countless and, apparently, not very original 'etudes'. Olga's recently married; her husband Osip Dymov is on the staff of two hospitals (a ward-surgeon in one, a dissecting demonstrator in another). He is a modest, kind and good-natured man who's totally out of place in this community of flashy celebrities who consider him ordinary and ignore him. The brightest star of the bunch is the painter Ryabovsky, a handsome man who "had sold his last picture for five hundred roubles." Olga goes with him on a steamboat trip down the Volga river, and they become lovers. Dymov gradually becomes aware of what's happening and reacts with characteristic mildness... "That man crushes me with his magnanimity," Olga Ivanovna never tires to tell the people around her. He is almost sorry for his unfaithful wife, who soon indeed starts to suffer – from humiliation and jealousy, as Ryabovsky gets first bored, then exasperated with her overbearing company. Finally, Ryabovsky gets himself another woman and Olga Ivanovna, dejected and outraged, returns home, dreaming of how she'd either commit suicide, or write Ryabovsky a scathing, condemning letter... Something happens, though, to detract her attention: it turns out that Dymov is seriously ill: he'd caught diphtheria at the hospital by sucking up the mucus through a pipette from a sick man's throat. Several of his colleagues come to stay on duty by his bedside: they all speak of how gifted was this extraordinary, rare man, promising to become such a celebrity and is now dying due to his own carelessness. Horrified with the realization, that, while hunting for artists and singers, she'd 'missed out on' what could have become a true celebrity and the greatest 'gem' in her collection through her silliness, Olga Ivanovna rushes to her husband's deathbed to explain how wrong she'd been and how everything could be different from now on... But Dymov is quiet now and his hands and forehead are very cold. ===== The game takes place sometime between "Universe 6" and "Future Trunks" arcs of Dragon Ball Super. The game's main antagonist, Android 21 (or later, her evil-half), was a normal female human who eventually became an Android created by the Red Ribbon Army after her son became the model for Android 16. Once she awakens, she repairs 16 and uses the Dragon Balls to resurrect Frieza, Cell, Nappa, and the Ginyu Force, and seals away the powers and souls of all of Earth's strongest warriors. Wanting to control the hungry monster within her, she and 16 develop a linking system originally created by Dr. Gero in which a human soul (the player) can possess the warriors and provide them strength. ===== The story starts off with a police informer calling up Bharadwaj (Ravi Kishan) with information on criminal Padmanabham (Arjun Sarja) saying that Padmanabham is at a bar wearing a suit. Bharadwaj along with a few police officers enter the bar. A man holds a waitress there at gunpoint and Bharadwaj shoots him allowing the waitress to leave. A. Sathyam (Nithiin) is a good-for-nothing son of a widowed mother (Poornima). He is unemployed and lives off of his father's monthly pension. He is unmarried and fantasizes about marrying an American girl. By a quirk of fate, Sathyam, along with a stranger named Chaitra (Megha Akash), who has a dream to win a lot of money, end up in Las Vegas, where they decide to only lie with one another. Shortly after, they start to fall in love with one another through their beautiful lies. At the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a frustrated officer named Bharadwaj (Ravi Kishan) is desperate to nab an elusive criminal named Padmanabham (Arjun Sarja), who has escaped the long arm of the law for 19 years. Padmanabham is a famous Indian ropewalker and magician, but he is also a master of disguise. Thus, the NIA has no idea what Padmanabham looks like. He is now suspected to be residing in the USA. Bharadwaj has drafted a sharp officer named Aadi (Sriram) to discover Padmanabham's hideout and identity by following a suit which he has purchased and is assumed to have an obsession with. The operation of this mission is called Sholay, implying that Aadi is the showman. All along, Padmanabham tries to go after the team, which is trying to trace him, only to end up with Sathyam. Sathyam was a part of this operation the whole time. The rest of the film is about how Sathyam is related to the entire operation floated to crack Padmanabham, and how the hero-villain duo and other characters race against time. In the end, Sathyam kills Padmanabham for good. ===== The film begins at a funeral home where the mutilated body of a young man is being prepared. From there, the film shifts to the young man, his sister, and their companions on a wild picnic. They decide on a whim to spend the night in a graveyard where they perform a séance raising the dead. The majority of the action is conveyed through flashbacks and nightmare sequences. =====
