He is met by Montana and Trevor, who explain that Richter disappeared after being dragged into the lake and never returned. They reveal what happened in 1989: to prevent further deaths, Trevor blocks traffic to the Camp Redwood entrance. Margaret shoots him off camp property and leaves him to die, but Brooke appears and helps him onto the grounds so he can return as a ghost. Trevor's ghost then attacks Bruce and kicks him off the grounds to die. The dead counselors determine that the only way to stop Ramirez is to kill him over and over, which they do for thirty years. Back in 2019, Ramirez awakens once again and attacks Bobby; Montana ushers Bobby off the grounds and directs him to the asylum. There he meets Donna, now the director of the asylum, who further elaborates that in 1989, the ghosts brutally murdered Margaret, but not before Brooke seemingly died in a struggle with her. Donna and Bobby trace Bobby's money to a still- alive Brooke, who survived and escaped Camp Redwood with Ray's help. Bobby again returns to Camp Redwood where Margaret's ghost repeatedly attempts to kill him, but he is saved by Richter, Lavinia, and the counselors. Denmark fears that an invasion from Prince Fortinbras of Norway could be imminent. Prince Hamlet, son of the recently deceased king and nephew to King Claudius, meets his father's ghost. The ghost reveals that he was murdered by Claudius and makes Hamlet vow to avenge his death. Believing him to be Claudius, Halmet accidentally kills Polonius, enraging Polonius' son, Laertes. After an attempt to kill Hamlet fails, Claudius and Laertes plot to murder him in a duel by using a poisoned sword and poison in the prince's drink. Ophelia, Laertes' sister, drowns. Hamlet returns for Ophelia's funeral and gets into a fight with Laertes. Hamlet and Laertes duel, and through various means both of them die along with Claudius and Queen Gertrude. Fortinbras arrives as Hamlet's heir and takes the crown of Denmark. Elsinore begins with a vision of the deaths of everyone in Elsinore Castle, similar to the play's ending. Ophelia manipulates events to achieve a different outcome. If the player does nothing, the events unfold as in the play and everyone dies. After Ophelia's first death, a time loop begins here she wakes up at the moment of Hamlet where Prince Hamlet is behaving erratically in her room. Ophelia's actions directly affect the plot in sometimes unpredictable ways. If Ophelia continually talks to people in Elsinore castle about the supernatural dreams she has been having, the characters will send Ophelia off to an institution because they are convinced she has gone insane. In order to convince Hamlet to ally with Ophelia and to have him trust her with his plot, the player must search Queen Gertrude's chambers for evidence that she was not complicit with the murder of her late husband. By confronting King Claudius with evidence that he has murdered Queen Gertrude, Claudius arranges a private meeting with Ophelia and murders her. The game enlarges Ophelia and Laertes' roles, and adds additional characters such as Othello, and Peter Quince from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Quince replaces the acting troupe from Hamlet, and is one of the few characters that is aware of Ophelia's time loop. Several characters have also been adapted for the game, making Rosencrantz and Guildenstern female and Ophelia and Laertes are biracial with experience of racial discrimination. A lady-in-waiting named Brit and a cook round out a more gender balanced cast. ===== A family returning home from a swim are caught in slow-moving traffic among a sea of identical black hearselike self-driving cars along a multi-lane highway leading to a tunnel. As they approach the tunnel it becomes apparent that the tunnel is used as a means of population reduction. While passing through it they are concerned that they will be caught in it during the next closure. A car from another lane decides to change lanes within the tunnel, delaying the family's progress. They make it out of the tunnel just before its next closure. Peter looks around but cannot find Eva's car. ===== The story revolves around Jagan (Sriimurali), the son of an Ayurvedic pundit, who lives with his parents in Jodhpur. Chandrasekharan had a marriage arranged with Chithra (Indhu), who was more educated than him, and she later gave birth to Lakshmi (Baby Subhashree). Chithra became sick of living in a traditional joint family, and the couple left the home with their child to live elsewhere. Chithra was still unhappy about being a housewife. One day, her childhood friend Amit (Ravi Rahul) met her and got closer to her. They even had an affair. When Chandrasekharan comes to know about their affair, he forcefully took his wife's thaali around her neck and kicked her out of his house. Afterward, Chithra filed a complaint to the police station against Chandrasekharan and Muthusamy. At the police station, Chithra and Chandrasekharan got divorced, and Chithra won the custody of her child. The news spread like wildfire, and the matter brought shame upon their family. Rajeshwari then died of a heart attack, Chandrasekharan became mentally ill, and Karthik became a misogynist and a drug addict. Back to the present, Karthik has a car accident, and Seetha (Anju Aravind) saves him by giving him her blood. Seetha is none other than Lakshmi's school teacher. Karthik then becomes a good person and falls under the spell of Seetha. In the meantime, Chithra commits suicide because she was ill-treated by society for her extramarital affair. Karthik finally expresses his love for Seetha, and she tells him about her bitter past. In the past, Kalyana Sundaram (J. Livingston) was a kindhearted pickpocket who put money aside to build a school for poor children. However, his daughter, Shelly, has a "marijuana problem". She believes it smells bad and makes people "dumber than they already are." Randy tries to convince her of the positive benefits of marijuana, but the obstinate Shelly wishes it were illegal again. Randy takes Shelly to an exhibit of ancient Egyptian artifacts at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, having promised her a father-daughter outing during which they could bond, but when he attempts to draw attention to the fact that the ancient Egyptians used hemp rope, she is angered to realize that the trip was another attempt to bring her to his way of thinking about marijuana. Meanwhile, fourth grader Butters Stotch tours the same exhibit as part of his efforts to complete the exhibit's accompanying sticker stamp book. When he comes to the mummy of Egyptian royal Took-Tan-ra, an elderly museum employee warns him that this mummy harbors an "ancient love curse", and urges him not to put Took-Tan-ra's stamp in his book. Butters ignores the warning, after which the undead mummy of Took-Tan-ra visits Butters in his bedroom one night. Initially horrified at the rampaging monster, Butters then sees that he merely wants to hug Butters and give him a FitBit device as a gift. The grateful Butters informs Took-Tan-ra that he already has one, and will give this new one to a friend, but Took-Tan-ra is enraged and storms out. After the mummy's rampage results in five deaths and property damage, the police visit Butters and relate that the mummy told them about the "argument" he had with Butters. Butters is astounded that the mummy spoke to the police, who admonish Butters for his "hurtful" conduct toward Took-Tan-ra. When Butters tells them that he may have been cursed by the mummy, but the police say that Took-Tan-ra told them the reverse. They also inform Butters that he must share in the damages caused by the mummy's rampage, and issue him a summons, advising him and the mummy to stay away from each other. Following more attacks by the mummy, Butters meets with the school counselor, Mr. Mackey, but is incredulous to learn that undead being has also spoken to Mackey, who expresses a sympathetic view of the creature. Butters later meets with his classmates at a fast food restaurant, and tells them that he needs to end the curse, pointing to the endless texts and selfies that Took-Tan-ra sends him, but his classmates, like everyone else, speak as if the fault lies with Butters, and advise him to break things off with him, even as the mummy shows up there to continue his campaign of harassment. Shelly cooks a witch's brew, and recites an accompanying incantation that will grant her revenge. She dumps the brew onto the Halloween Special marijuana, horrifying Randy and his business partner, Towelie. This turns out to be an enhanced growth formula that increases Randy's yield. However, when he refuses to drive Shelly to a book fair on Halloween night, she destroys the packaged Halloween special, prompting Randy to ask the police to put her in jail for the night. She is placed in a cell with Butters, who has been imprisoned because he, not the mummy, "manipulates the mummy with his passive-aggressive selfishness". At Randy's party, the revelers who smoke the Halloween Special mutate into monsters. Randy is then confronted by an undead Winnie the Pooh, whom Randy murdered in the episode "Band in China". Other monsters follow, including an unseen Harvey Weinstein, who rapes Randy during his emergency phone call to the police. The police race to Tegridy Farms with Butters, in the hopes that he can use his powers of manipulation to stop the mummy, who they believe is causing the attacks there. However, the horrors Randy experiences are revealed to be a hallucination caused by the mutated marijuana. Shelly ends these hallucinations by brewing an antidote that she throws at Randy. The ranking policeman there, Sergeant Harrison Yates, informs Butters that the mummy was not to blame for the emergency, prompting Butters to apologize to the mummy. The mummy resolves to leave for good, but before doing so, gives Butters a note written in hieroglyphics that translates as "I hope you can get the help you need. I can't fix you." Randy awakens three days later, and when his wife, Sharon says he was the only one who enjoyed the Halloween special, he says that he was pretty much the target audience anyway. He is also relieved that he did not really have anal sex with Harvey Weinstein, though he and the family are shocked to find a used condom that gives cause for them to question this. ===== The lovers Meena (Priyanka Shailu) and Jeeva (Kutty) elope and they decide to get married at the registrar's office. He is repeatedly charged with abusing girls, but his good behavior and kind manners gain him preferable treatment and light sentences. He is repeatedly declared reformed, enabling him to commit more murders. In 1978 he appeared on the television show The Dating Game in the midst of his killing spree. Alcala is ultimately identified by a park ranger who saw him walking with a murder victim named Tammy Jensen days before her body was discovered at the same location. This eyewitness account provides police with the evidence they need to finally arrest Alcala. In his Seattle storage locker they find the earrings Tammy Jensen was wearing when she disappeared, and he is sentenced to death. This conviction is overturned in 1984 due to the prosecution's reference to Alcala's previous crimes causing bias in the jury, but he is retried and sentenced to death again in 1986. A change in the law allows his DNA to be collected in 2002, connecting him to further murders. In 2010, Alcala represents himself at trial, calling on himself for testimony and answering his own questions. Rosie Hoffman returns 42 years after her attack to finally testify against her attacker, and her testimony as well as the testimony of Tammy Jensen's mother Carol help sentence Alcala to death for five counts of abduction, murder, and special circumstances. The first scene is one of a Grandmaster chess match. One of the players (the American) walks onto the stage, towards the table where the other player (the Russian) is already sitting. The American looks dazed and has a blood stain on his hand. We cut back to 7 days before where the American chess player, an unkempt middle aged man, is talking to a taxi driver who addresses him as "professor" and drops him off at his New York apartment. As the chess player walks in, a car pulls up outside the apartment. In a bar, the chess player is in a card game with three others; he casually makes a remark about the destructive power of the Soviet Tsar Bomba, and switches off a TV news report about an upcoming chess match between Soviet champion Alexander Gavrylov and the American Konigsberg. The chess player wins the card game, takes the money and then receives his cut from the bartender - this seems to be a source of income for the chess player. A woman in the bar, Agent Stone, approaches the chess player, whom she recognises as Joshua Mansky, her former lecturer and a former champion chess player. She has a proposition for him, but Mansky immediately walks out of the bar before hearing it; he is followed out of the bar by a man, Agent White, who grabs him and forces him into the back of the car that was waiting outside Mansky's apartment. It is later revealed that Mansky knew Stone was lying because in all his years of teaching, he never had a female student. Mansky's kidnappers take him onboard a plane, drugged; he wakes up in a US embassy in another country, in a safe room where their conversations are secure, and meets Agent Novak, who leads the operation. Mansky is a mathematical genius, who defeated Konigsberg 20 years before, but has an unpredictable temperament. He is informed he has some part to play in "winning the Cold War". He is told he will have to compete in a chess tournament against Alexander Gavrylov of the Soviet Union in the Polish capital Warsaw, as Konigsberg has died (by Soviet poisoning). Per tournament rules, Mansky is the only eligible substitute for Konigsberg because he was the last person to beat him. However, Mansky's drinking problem becomes apparent when he is found unconscious in his hotel room. Amphetamine drugs are used to make him regain consciousness before he has to go to the chess match stage to make his first official appearance as the replacement American player. He is unable to make the first ceremonial move on the chess board after his opponent, as he sees 8900 moves at one time. Mansky is housed in a hotel located in the building where the match takes place, the Palace of Culture and Science, and meets the hotel director, Alfred Slega, who also seems to like alcohol. The hotel director is told by a Soviet general major (General Krutov, Soviet counter-intelligence) to "look after" Mansky, implying he will keep the American chess player drunk. The film cuts to 4 days before the opening scene. Mansky recalls he got drunk with the hotel director in the morning and does not recall the day at all, including the first chess game. Agent Stone reveals that he won the game in only 32 moves. Mansky's eccentric behaviour and alcoholism is revealed to be partly due to his sheer brilliance, with alcohol slowing his brain function enough to operate more normally. The Russian general major meets Gavrylov, and encourages him to keep playing on despite losing the first match. He tells Alfred to deny alcohol to the American delegation. However, Mansky is still able to get alcohol, smuggling it out of social events accompanying the match. In the second game, a hypnotist in the audience blocks Mansky's thoughts and Mansky concedes the game. Agent White pursues the hypnotist out of the chess game theatre, but is stopped by members of the Soviet group who threaten his family, who they know a lot about, including the fact that his wife is pregnant. Among the tournament attendees is a Soviet officer, who is secretly working for the Americans. Agent White tells Agent Stone they call him Gift, but does not mention how Gift can be identified. Alfred befriends Mansky, and visits him via a secret back door in a wardrobe in Mansky's room that allows passage into the toilets in the lobby, where he hides some alcohol for Mansky to secretly use as needed. He shares his personal experience of Soviet influence over communist Poland with Mansky, and views the Warsaw Pact as merely a continuation of the Nazi occupation. This is despite the fact that Alfred possesses a little red book (an identification of a member of the ruling party) that makes him a privileged person in communist Poland, and shields him from questioning by the police and the Soviets. Together, they sneak in and out of the hotel through the Warsaw sewers. They go to a bar where they meet many of Alfred's friends, who cheer for Mansky, not Gavrylov, in the match, and who are sympathetic to the US and like American culture. The next day Agent White visits Mansky’s room, which is now shown to be bugged by the Soviets. He tells Mansky that a man in a Soviet uniform might approach him; that man can be trusted, and has a scar on the back of his right hand. Before Agent White can say anything else, he starts vomiting blood and dies in Mansky’s arms, poisoned with Ricin. Agent Stone asks Mansky why Agent White came into his room. Mansky says the room is bugged, but Agent Stone tells him the room is clean. Mansky becomes distraught, and Stone takes him to the US embassy (it is announced that Mansky fell ill; the third game is considered a draw due to his feigned illness), where they brief him on the events in Cuba. The agents tell Mansky about John Gift, a code name for a high ranking Soviet officer who is a double agent for Americans; only Agent White was working with him. Gift was going to deliver the blueprints of the Soviet warheads destined for Cuba, but the Soviets stung the Americans in Moscow, with the assistance of a spy within the American intelligence. Gift was coming to Warsaw for the tournament along with other Soviet officers, which gives Gift an opportunity to provide critical information to the Americans regarding Soviet capabilities and intentions in Cuba. The Americans want to know if Soviet nuclear warheads are already in Cuba, or if the first warheads are yet to arrive. Gift knows he can trust Mansky, as Mansky clearly cannot be a spy. Agent Stone tells Mansky he needs to get the microfilm of the blueprints, hidden in a champagne cork, from Gift. To allow this, Mansky needs to make the next game a draw, to ensure the Soviet delegation comes to the after-match social event. General Krutov talks to a member of his staff about his impressions of an American book, describing postwar history, that he apparently came across: in the book Americans portray Soviets as buffoons, or as mindless followers of orders of bloodthirsty psychopaths. It is possible Krutov found that incriminating book among the staff member's belongings. Krutov says that what Americans call a democracy is a system in which they "treat women like servants" and "won't even let black people use the same shitter", perpetuate social inequality between the rich and the workers, and force poorer nations to give away their riches to the USA, waging war against those who nationalize their industries instead of following the American model. While explaining this, an angry Krutov makes the staff member spread out his fingers, and takes stabs with a knife (at the book) in between the staff member's fingers. Mansky relates to Agent Stone his prior assistance to Robert Oppenheimer and the Manhattan Project, which birthed the profoundly destructive power of nuclear weapons into human hands, for which he remains regretful. During the fourth game, Mansky often looks at the audience, his mind obviously not on the game, wondering who might be John Gift. In a break period, he goes to the lobby toilets to drink some of the hidden alcohol, whereupon General Krutov’s staff member (the one Krutov was talking to earlier) enters his cubicle and hands him a cork. Agent Stone then enters the cubicle, and tells Mansky to keep the cork when Mansky tries to give it to her. Then both she and the Soviet staff member are attacked and killed in the toilet by a man in a Soviet uniform. Mansky returns to the game, which is the opening scene of the film. His brain, suddenly transformed by the alcohol, switches on and he proposes a draw. His opponent turns this down disdainfully, as Mansky is clearly in a bad position from the earlier passage of play. Mansky then makes a number of quick moves in the game interspersed by countermoves by an increasingly frustrated Gavrylov. When he again proposes a draw, Gavrylov agrees and he applauds Mansky, squaring the series 2-2. When Mansky asks to go back to the US embassy, he is told the American delegation is quarantined in the hotel. Mansky goes back to his room, and the usual social event after the match carries on without him, the rest of the Soviet delegation being present along with Gavrylov. Alfred smuggles some alcohol out of the event and brings it to Mansky’s room via the secret entrance in the wardrobe. Mansky asks him for help; Alfred switches on the radio loud, clearly knowing the room is bugged. Alfred says he cannot help Mansky leave the hotel, but gives him the red book, and says to not allow the Soviets to trace it back to him in case Mansky gets caught. Mansky goes into the lobby toilets via the secret passageway, and escapes into the city to head to the US embassy. The world is now 24 hours from a confrontation between the USA and the USSR. At the US embassy, in the safe room, he recounts the events to Agent Novak. The man who killed both Stone and the Soviet staff member seems to be Gift. After he killed Stone, he revealed a syringe full of alcohol in Stone's purse; apparently, Stone was going to kill Mansky by injecting alcohol straight into his bloodstream and make it look like accidental death from alcohol overdose. Gift gave Mansky another cork, and soaked the one Mansky had gotten earlier in Stone’s blood, to mark is as the bad one. He then told Mansky to remember the word "rakirovka". Novak says it is not clear to him whether Stone was a Soviet spy or not, and he has four hours to give President Kennedy a decision on whether to place a blockade around Cuba or not. Mansky is not sure who to trust, as Agent White did not tell Novak that Gift has a scar on his hand. Novak tells Mansky that the cork soaked in Stone’s blood says the nuclear weapons are already in Cuba; the one given by Gift suggests the Soviets are bluffing. President Kennedy wants to communicate with Mansky by secure telegram. Mansky wonders whether Gift is not on the Americans' side at all. Mansky explains his reasoning, invoking "the riddle of the two guards", and passes a message to the President. Kennedy announces a naval blockade of Cuba, which is going to stop any ship carrying military material from reaching Cuba. Novak thanks Mansky; Mansky tells him to thank Gift instead. General Krutov and the Soviets find the dead bodies in the lobby toilet. Krutov also discovers Mansky’s secret alcohol, realising that Alfred the hotel director must have befriended Mansky. With Kennedy’s announcement, Krutov realizes that the Soviets have lost this battle; he orders a search for the spy in their midst; in addition, he has Alfred summoned, and tortures him. Alfred accidentally reveals the existence of a secret passageway leading from the building through the sewers into the city. Novak tells Mansky that "rakirovka" (castling) was a code word meaning imminent danger: Gift needs extraction. At the fifth and deciding game, Mansky sees Gift outside in the lobby. A man in Soviet uniform is then seen exiting the hotel via the secret passages Mansky has been using all this time, whilst Gavrylov awaits for Mansky to appear at the chess table. At the exit of the secret passages into an alley leading into the streets of Warsaw, Krutov and his team are waiting. The man in the Soviet uniform - whom they apprehend when he comes out of the secret passages - is actually Mansky, whilst Gift uses the red book which Alfred gave to Mansky to simply walk out of the cordoned-off hotel. Gift is wearing Mansky’s clothes. Novak rushes into the alley and stops Krutov from killing Mansky as he is protected by diplomatic immunity. Mansky cannot appear in the final game, which is forfeit, and Gavrylov wins the tournament. Novak flies Mansky back to the US. The press at the airport accuse Mansky of having humiliated the US, despite him having prevented a nuclear war without their knowing. Novak says to Mansky he cannot determine Stone's motivation for betraying the US. He tells Mansky that he is a citizen hero and will be looked after, and hands him a hip flask. Novak exits the car; Gift enters the car to join Mansky and gives him Alfred’s red book, saying that Alfred was killed. Gift says he has seen the Soviet order of attack. Mansky tells Gift that Novak wants to take care of them - but hands the hip flask to Gift, and leaves the car, saying he does not want Novak’s protection. Talks commence between the United States and the Soviet Union, which result in mutual de-escalation steps, such as the withdrawal of nuclear-tipped missiles from some territories. The final montage goes on to mention later nuclear arms control agreements such as the INF of 1987, and later US assistance with nuclear disarmament in former communist countries in the Eastern Bloc after the revolutions of 1989. However, the epilogue notes: "In February 2019, the United States suspended compliance with the INF treaty. The same day, Vladimir Putin announced that Russia also suspended the INF treaty and will develop new intermediate-range missiles." The movie ends with the following quote: "Our moral imperative is to work with all powers for that day when the children of the world will grow up without the fear of nuclear war." - Ronald Reagan. ===== The film begins with the discovery of a skeleton of a woman in a minister's garden. Inspector Majeet Khan (Majeet Khan) and inspector Ravikumar (Ravikumar) take charge of the case and they suspect that the skeleton might be Asha (Preethi Varma) who had disappeared two years ago. They went to a picnic in a remote village and they stayed in the bungalow of the drug dealer Santhanapandian (Ajay Rathnam). Meanwhile, a mysterious serial killer roamed around their bungalow and one day, Asha disappeared without leaving a trace. Inspector Murugaperumal (Karikalan) investigated the mysterious disappearance of Asha and suspected Santhanapandian's maid Velu of abducting her, Murugaperumal beat Velu up in the police lockup and the following day, Velu was found dead. Back to the present, the two inspectors suspect Manoj of committing these murders and they put wanted posters of Manoj all over town. A worried Manoj then meets Jawahar and Jawahar reveals him that he is the murderer. In the past, Jawahar fell in love with Kavitha (Rashmi Radhakrishnan) and he married her during the college holidays with the blessings of his father (Chandrasekhar). Later, Kavitha had an affair with her relative Suresh (Suresh) and one day, Jawahar's father caught them in a public place. To save her marriage, Kavitha blamed Jawahar's father for misbehaving with her and the heartbroken Jawahar's father left their house. Thereafter, Jawahar caught his wife in their marital bed with Suresh, Suresh fled the place and Jawahar killed his wife in cold blood. When he tried to bury her in his garden, Jawahar found the dead body of his father who was murdered by Kavitha and Suresh. After this incident, Jawahar killed Suresh and slowly became a psychopath and began to kill the adulterers. He even murdered Shanthi and Asha thinking that they were adulterers but they were actually innocent women who had sincerely loved their boyfriends. The film ends with Manoj killing Jawahar. ===== The Druids of Yamath, defeated in the previous volume, plot with the Sarks of Shembis and Tsargol to destroy their mutual enemy Thongor of Valkarth and restore their dominion. They resolve to have his beloved, Sumia of Patanga, abducted by assassin Zandar Zan, using her to lure Thongor into a trap. The scheme goes awry; Sumia falls into the sea from Zandar's airboat, and is rescued by exiled Rmoahal tribesman Shangoth, while Zandar himself, fleeing from the pursuing Thongor, crashes into a mountain. Fearing both dead, Thongor exits his own airboat to search for them, only to have Zandar, who has survived, steal it. The stranded Thongor happens on Shangoth's father, the Rmoahal chieftain, being tortured by the shaman who exiled them, and rescues him. Meanwhile, Sumia and Shangoth are taken captive by Adamancus, one of the Nine Magicians of Zaar who are the secret power behind the Yamath Druids. Thongor overtakes Zandar Zan, who falls to his doom from the airboat. In the recovered boat, Thongor arrives at Adamancus's lair in time to save Sumia and Shangoth from being sacrified to a devil the magician has summoned. With the Rmoahals' aid he goes on to defeat the combined forces of Shembis and Tsargol, which then become part of his empire. ===== The eight survivors of the Nine Magicians of Zaar, whose colleague Adamancus was killed in the previous volume, cloak their Rmoahal henchmen in invisibility, enabling them to capture their nemesis Thongor. The Rmoahal take him to their castle to turn him over to their masters. He escapes into its catacombs where he destroys an ancient worm god, but is retaken by the Zaarians. Mardanax of Zaar then flies him on a pterodactyl to the city of magicians. Thongor's ally, the exiled Rmoahal prince Shangoth, infiltrates the city to rescue him. The two manage to turn the tables on the magicians, reflecting their own spells against them. Only Mardanax escapes the slaughter. The book includes a frontispiece map by the author of part of Lemuria. ===== The film revolves based on a true story about a war of love for a mother and a devoted mother who lost a child in the tsunami. ===== Seeking vengeance on his enemy, evil magician Mardanax of Zaar, infiltrates Patanga, capital city of Thongor's growing Lemurian empire. He succeeds in striking Thongor down and drugging his wife Queen Sumia into pliability. Under Mardanax's sway she agrees to wed the nobleman the Zaarian has marked out to be his puppet ruler. The young officer Charn Thovis, fearing for the safety of Thongor and Sumia's young son Thar, spirits the prince away, but a giant flying lizard forces their airboat down and the two fall into the hands of Barim Redbeard's pirates from the rogue city-state of Tarakus. Concealing their identities, the two at first are able to join the crew, but Thar is soon found out and taken hostage by the pirate king Kashtar. Meanwhile, Thongor's spirit-form passes through a gloomy netherworld, receiving messages regarding his destiny, culminating in a personal encounter with Father Gorm, chief of the Nineteen Gods, who tells him how he has been marked for greatness and must return to the world of the living to complete his work. He is granted visions of a future extending from his own impending conquest of the whole continent through several cataclysms in which the civilization of Lemuria is succeeded by that of Atlantis, and ultimately, "at the end of time," early Egypt. The culmination of his historical vision is thus the beginning of our own recorded history. The author implies that Robert E. Howard's "Hyborian Age" and its premier hero Conan the Barbarian fits into this grand panorama. In Tarakus, Charn and Thar's shipmates help them escape and return to Patanga to prevent Sumia's forced wedding. Their airboat crashes the ceremony, and the machinations of Mardanax are exposed as Thongor leaps from his coffin and dispatches him. The book includes a frontispiece map by the author of "Patanga, City of the Flame" and a semifictional appendix on "The Source of the Lemurian Mythos" in which he claims to have derived the overall storyline of the Thongor books from a translation of the rare Indian scriptures known as the Upa-Puranas in combination with some of Helena Blavatsky's Theosophic notions of prehistorical races. The Upa-Puranas do not in fact exist. ===== Kashtar, ruler of the pirate city-state of Tarakus, joins forces with a wizard who has dabbled in the forbidden secrets of lost Nianga, among them, a ray that causes madness--"the Gray Death," as it is known to its victims. With it, Kashtar hopes to conquer all Lemuria, and incidentally escape having his realm absorbed into the growing empire of Patanga, ruled by the upstart barbarian conqueror Thongor. After Kashtar takes the best ship in Patanga's fleet and captures Thongor's old friend Karm Karvus, Thongor determines to free him and gain intelligence by sneaking into Tarakus. Posing as a crewman of Barim Redbeard, the pirate captain who helped his son escape Kashtar in the previous volume, he suits deed to word, only to be separated from his allies before he can reach his goal. He has to continue on to his goal on his own. As Thongor approaches the city, he meets Karm Karvus, who has escaped on his own along with an imprisoned princess, and learns the pirate invasion fleet has set out for Patanga. Fortunately, they are able to link up again with Barim's ship and infiltrate the fleet as originally intended. Taking the ship bearing the death ray, they turn it on the enemy's own vessels. Once Tarakus is defeated in battle, it is annexed to Thongor's empire. The book includes a frontispiece map by the author of part of Lemuria and concludes with an "Author's Note." ===== ===== ===== Visa (Thejamai) who is from Madurai joins a secondary school as a plus-two student in Chennai. Jiro's mother does not want a yakuza staying in their village and his childhood friend Reiko explains that his father was killed. His brother Toshio confides that their father Jiro had forgiven Jiro for abandoning the village, whereupon Jiro decides to seek vengeance. Jiro fights his way into Ashida headquarters to confront the boss Ashida himself but Gen catches him whips him as punishment. Jiro's wounds are treated by his neighbors Some and Oritsu while Jiro keeps his true plans for revenge secret from his mother, claiming that he got into a drunken brawl. Reiko's father Aida, now boss of the fishermen, is told by men from the Ashida clan that they are lowering their payments for fish, even though the village is not allowed to sell to anyone else. Jiro's youngest brother Shinkichi and another young fisherman named Toshi offer to help Jiro kill Ashida. One night the fishermen waste their money on a gambling operation run by Gen's bodyguard Kumai Go but Jiro joins and wins their money back for them. The next day Kumai attempts to win his money back from Jiro but Jiro continues to beat him and uses his winnings to buy information from Kumai about the strength of the Ashida clan, learning that their only weapon is the rifle owned by Gen. During a festival, Shinkichi and Toshi steal fireworks and use them to attack Ashida but Shinkichi is shot by Gen and washes up on the shore to die in Jiro's arms. Ashida dumps the village's caught fish back into the water in order to inflate prices and refuses to let them go out fishing again, claiming that they would not catch enough to pay for the boats' fuel. Aida is beaten when he resists and Ashida wonders if they should kill Jiro to scare others away from joining forces with the Yamagata family. Gen suggests using Kumai to do it, since he doesn't mind if Kumai gets killed. Instead of sneaking up on Jiro, Kumai presents himself and challenges Jiro to a fair fight. Out of anger, Gen shoots Kumai's dog Koro to death, then shoots Kumai in the arm, preventing their duel from occurring. Jiro returns to the village and finds that Ashida's men have set it on fire but manages to rescue his mother from their burning home that she has run into in order to recover the memorials to her husband and son. Finally at their breaking point, the various families of fishermen join forces with Jiro to battle the Ashida clan. Jiro instructs them to scatter the hoodlums and take the Ashida fishing boats out to sea to catch fish to sell in their own expanded shops. Kumai tells Jiro that one of Kumai's family members was also killed and that he is switching sides, revealing a large fishing clan tattoo on his back. Ashida's men pursue Jiro's crew of five men to the beach while the other fishermen take the boats out to sea. Jiro's men surprise Ashida's men with Molotov cocktails, then overpower them with swords and pikes. Sensing defeat, Ashida pleads with Gen not to pursue them but Gen rushes in with his rifle. Kumai stops Gen from shooting Jiro and then Gen fatally shoots Kumai before realizing that he has also been fatally stabbed by Kumai. Kumai tells Jiro that he has avenged his dog Koro, then dies. Jiro prepares to kill Ashida but is unable to do it when he sees the distraught father weeping with his dead son in his arms. The families of fishermen work together using their new boats to catch a multitude of fish and expand their shops, this time selling the fish for their own profit. Jiro leaves them in order to turn himself in to the police for the murders and take sole responsibility for everything that has occurred. ===== Paul manufactures a bomb using a wristwatch for its timer and he and his two friends Lung and Ko set it off in a movie theater for fun, avoiding any casualties. Wan-Chu, a girl who spends her time torturing animals, sees them flee the theater and follows them but does not tell the police. After being fired from her job at a printing press for pouring ink on a coworker during an argument, she argues with her older brother Tan, the police officer assigned to investigate the bombing, and impales a cat on a fence post out of anger. She then forces her way into the group of boys by threatening to expose them to the police if they do not become her friends. She makes them discard a mouse she has tortured and in return they challenge her to place a bomb in a public restroom, which she does without hesitation. When the three boys try to ditch her, Wan-Chu plants a bomb of her own, warning them that the next one will be on their front door so that the police will search their house. Now in control of the group, she forces them to assist her in hijacking a bus full of tourists from an airport, but the bus door closes with only Wan-Chu on it. Threatening to light a bomb she is holding, she forces the guide and the tourists to strip to their underwear, then abandons them at a construction site. She finds the three boys leaving their school and pours gasoline on them. She attempts to burn them but they use one of the burning shirts against her as she flees and is nearly hit by a car, causing an argument with its foreign driver. The boys throw rocks at the car and the man chases them as Wan-Chu steals a package from his car filled with Japanese money orders and accidentally drops a written contract in an alley without noticing. The foreigner, a gun runner named Bruce, is killed with a sword by his boss Nigel for becoming exposed. Paul attempts to exchange one of the money orders at a bank but when the teller takes it to the director Paul gets scared and leaves. The youths threaten an exchange manager, demanding information on how to exchange the money orders, but he gives them a fake address. Now angered, they plant a bomb under his car but only kill his bodyguard, the former Mr. Hong Kong. Based on the survivor's testimony, the police link the attack to Paul's previous attempt to exchange the money order at the bank. Wan-Chu offers a deal to a local gang that previously harassed her and meets their leader, Uncle Hark, who works as a club DJ. Hark takes Wan-Chu and Ko to a banker who agrees to exchange 20 of the money orders into Hong Kong dollars for 30% of their amount, then Hark sends his gang to rob the two youths of the money. Wan-Chu and Ko throw the money down the stairwell to Lung, who gets trapped by the gang members in the parking garage. Lung throws the money and money orders at them and escapes when Paul, Ko and Wan-Chu throw bombs at the gang members. Wan-Chu is furious at Lung for throwing the money away and their argument leads the boys to abandon her again. Now alone, Wan-Chu is caught by Hark and his gang. As they are threatening to burn her, Tan arrives and beats up Hark but Wan-Chu refuses to press charges. Back at their apartment, Tan angrily beats her for fighting with the gang then ties her to the bars on the windows with cable ties. Back at the club, Hark makes his gang give him the money they picked up in the parking garage. A drunk foreigner sees one of the money orders among the currency and tells Nigel. Nigel's gang tortures Hark with piano wire until he tells them about Wan-Chu. Nigel's gang comes to her apartment but then Tan returns home and leads them on a chase. Nigel attempts to carry Wan-Chu away but when she struggles out of his grasp she falls and gets impaled through her head by a fence post where she earlier killed a cat in the same way. The police arrive and collect bullets lodged in the wall but also find the money orders under the mouse cage in the house, causing the chief to take Tan off the case. When Paul's face is shown on TV in connection with the bombings, the three boys pack their backpacks and hide out in a large cemetery crowded with gravestones, arguing among themselves. They later attempt to kill themselves by drinking Dettol. Paul and Lung spit it out but Ko swallows it so Paul runs to a shop to buy milk to dilute the poison and is recognized by the seller. Back in the city, Tan attacks two Mormon missionaries on the street after mistaking them for members of Nigel's gang and is brought into the office to be taken off duty for a few days. While there, he answers the telephone and is told by the milk seller that she has seen Paul at the cemetery. Tan finds Lung running to find a medic for Ko and handcuffs him to a post then chases Paul through the gravestones and catches him. Lung is found by one of Nigel's, who holds him at gunpoint and tells Tan to drop his weapon. Tan shoots the man, who shoots and kills Lung and injures Paul as he falls to his death. Nigel chases Tan down a hill, demanding to know where the contract is, then beats him unconscious. Paul grabs a gun and shoots at a gang member but only ends up shooting Lung more. The gang member hunts him through the cemetery and shoots and kills him in his hiding spot. Ko surprises the man and kills him by bashing his head with a metal pipe, then takes his machine gun and kills Nigel's remaining man. Nigel shoots the car Ko is using to escape then pulls the boy out and beats him. Ko grabs a gun from the ground and shoots Nigel twice but then runs out of bullets. Tan grabs a machine gun from the ground and shoots and kills Nigel. Ko takes the machine gun from Tan and gleefully shoots it into the cemetery as a montage of photographs from the 1967 mayhem in Hong Kong is shown. The film ends with a flashback to one of the boys' more innocent pranks when they dropped a bag of red paint onto a pedestrian. ===== In Chennai, Raja (A. R. Mayor McDaniels and the council tell Randy that the Tweaks have brought video footage proving that Randy was responsible for blowing up local marijuana farms in the episode "Mexican Joker". This footage, along with other examples of Randy's behavior over the course of the episodes of the past few weeks, leave McDaniels no choice but to have Randy arrested and put in jail. When Randy's wife Sharon breaks the news to their children Stan and Shelly, they are all giddy as they realize that this may be the opportunity they have wanted to leave the farm and return to normal lives in South Park. As a group of children play football in the park, fourth-grader Eric Cartman throws a pass to Jason White, but when Jason runs into the street to catch the pass, he is run over by a police car and killed. Father Maxi leads the funeral service for Jason at the church and he brings up Jason's father Robert White (who was introduced in the episode "Splatty Tomato"). Robert expresses his frustration at the lack of people who have arrived to mourn for Jason and his ongoing belief that no one cares about the Whites. At the White House, President Herbert Garrison receives a call from Randy in jail as Randy asks Garrison for help. Randy visits the jail's infirmary and complains that he is starting to feel remorse for his actions as he no longer has access to his marijuana. While there, he attempts to use a technique of blame reversal taught to him by Garrison, but it is rejected since he is not the President. Gerald and Sheila Broflovski bring a lasagna to a party being held at Tegridy Farms as the Marsh family celebrates. When the Whites arrive, Robert is angry that no one brought food or properly mourned for Jason, and he is upset about the impending demise of Tegridy Farms as he was a loyal customer. When the Whites leave, Cartman runs after them and suggests to them that they consider adopting a child that has been abandoned at one of the ICE detention centers, where Cartman had previously seen children in need. The Whites look at several children who are displayed similar to animals in an animal shelter, and decide to adopt a "pure-bred Mexican". The White family names the boy Alejandro, and share with him their feelings about how everyone else will not care about the Whites and that he will experience this for himself. As they watch television, President Garrison and his attorney Rudy Giuliani speak out against the charges made against Randy Marsh and call on people to make their voices louder. Robert promises to take action for his family, while at the same time disciplining Alejandro for attempting to make a call to Mexico on a cellular phone after 7 pm, their designated cutoff time for phone usage. When Alejandro refuses to join the Whites in a protest in support of Randy, the Whites decide to get Alejandro his own child to adopt from an ICE detention center. Their continued discipline of Alejandro along with responding to all of his Spanish statements with "Bien, gracias, ¿y tú?" (translating to "Good, thanks, and you?") makes Alejandro grow increasingly angry. In a therapy session in jail, Randy shares that his moral values are lower due to him comparing his values to that of the President, and that as long as his values were better than the President's, he should be okay. Randy is later visited in jail by Giuliani who gives Randy a marijuana cigarette. Randy's arraignment begins and most of the citizens of South Park arrive in support of Randy being convicted, chanting "lock him up". The Whites are the only ones who are protesting in support of Randy. As Randy begins to use a defense given to him by Garrison and Giuliani, who are also present at the arraignment, he gives up on their defense strategy. He states that the marijuana given to him by Giuliani was poor quality, and it reminded him of why he got into marijuana farming in the first place. As Randy extols the virtues of his marijuana farming, a series of explosions occur outside. Alejandro, who now has his face covered in white sunscreen put on him by Robert, is on a rampage of destruction in the town, and the police believe he is now the Mexican Joker. They attempt to shoot Alejandro but he escapes. Randy is exonerated of all charges and solely thanks the Whites for their support. At Tegridy Farms, snow begins to fall as Randy tells his family that this year's marijuana farming season has now ended due to the colder weather. An interstellar comet is discovered to be on course to impact the moon and shatter it. A rescue mission gets underway to take the thousand-something population of the base off the moon, with the support of the L1 space station (near the Earth-Moon L1 point) and Skyport, a larger geocentric space station. Haskell, in a moment of zealousness to show responsibility, promises the public to get off the moon only after every else has. Subsequent analysis reveals that the existing rescue plan would result in about 10 people not being able to get off the moon before the impact. The VP chooses to stick to his promise. Some volunteers, along with a few randomly selected people, also stay back. The rescue plan moves along, with the help of about 5 large spaceships, 'SSTOs'. The SSTOs dock with smaller ferry spaceships, 'moonbuses' and a 'Micro', in the orbit to take in passengers. Also, a last-minute risky plan of using the Micro to take off the last few people is put into action and it rescues the last group off the moon just before impact. The comet hits the moon, shattering it. The resulting debris of loose rock creates a danger to the rescue ships, as well as to the people on Earth. Some impactors, presumably a few hundred meters large, hit the Earth. The western hemisphere gets particularly affected because of the orientation of Earth during the impact. The coasts of the US are hit by multiple tsunamis and the land areas also face some impacts, resulting in widespread loss of life and property. The president, who had earlier decided against a coastal evacuation, is distraught. Many characters who have to deal with these events, like the residents of the affected areas, journalists and extremist militia members, are discussed in the novel. One of the SSTOs gets destroyed in space by a piece of debris measuring several hundred meters. The Micro also gets damaged and Haskell is forced to perform an EVA to fix the issues, which eventually succeeds. The US capital is also subsequently hit by a tsunami, and the president dies due to an aircraft malfunction during his rescue. Still in space, Haskell takes charge as the president. Haskell and other passengers of the Micro, are subsequently rescued by Percival Lowell, a 'nuclear powered' ship (presumably nuclear thermal) originally meant for the first manned mission to Mars. A mile-long piece of the debris, dubbed 'Possum' (from 'Possible Impactor'), is discovered to be on course to hit the US mainland, kill almost everyone in the US and possibly cause long-term worldwide disaster. The option of using nuclear missiles are put on hold due to concerns of even worse effects through radioactive fallout. Instead, a plan to redirect the Possum into a safe course, using the SSTOs and Percival Lowell, is put into action. An extremist militia group, with a lack of understanding of the impactor and sensing a possibility to take over the governance, damages one of the SSTOs, before getting subdued. Nevertheless, with the remaining spaceships, the redirection plan is determined to have retained the possibility of success. The redirection mission gets underway, despite risks like inadequate knowledge of the impactor's geology. One SSTO eventually crashes due to a geological imperfection in the impactor, midway through the mission. After the initial loss of hope, the mission is altered to a last- ditch attempt to coax the impactor, which happens to have a flat side, to skip off the atmosphere. The mission succeeds to delay the impact by several years. The epilogue discusses the positive socio-political transformation due to the whole event, the steps taken to further deal with the Possum, a dedicated impact avoidance strategy, increased emphasis on the space program and the first anniversary of 'the birth of Space Age'. ===== In a remote village, many young women have mysteriously disappeared the night and their dead bodies are found the following day. At the dining table, six-year-old Jérémie (Jérémie Térence-Gaudet) asks what "bugger" means. Black and white images of the parents and Jérémie from a few years past flow, set to music. The boy's parents are taken completely by surprise, asking where he heard that word; he tells them (someone named Olivier), and they proceed to argue over possible bad influences. Charles () also complains that francophones use unhelpful words like "bugger" and prefers "ass hole". His son knows what that word means, at least. Jérémie repeats his question. Charles claims he does not know, which draws an immediate objection from Geneviève (Maude Guérin). Charles now tells the boy his mother will explain. Again Geneviève objects, pointing out that Charles is a psychologist. Increasingly rattled, Charles lights a cigarette at the table and asks Geneviève to tell their son something while he tries to come up with a real answer. She uses a gardening metaphor, explaining that "buggering" is like planting carrots in an alley rather than in the ground. Charles calls the explanation infantile and out of date, harking back to the psychology of the 1950s. Children are not stupid, he says, and should be told how things really are. While Jérémie plays on his Nintendo, his parents debate what to say. Neither wants to reveal the ins and outs of sex between a mommy and daddy to their six-year-old son, never mind anal sex and possibly homosexuality, particularly Charles, prompting Geneviève to ask him if he has gay thoughts when the two of them have anal sex, which turns their discussion into a heated conversation about their sex life and attitudes towards sex. Charles is surprised that Geneviève does not really like anal sex, as sometimes it is painful. She argues angrily that a man's desire for it is based on a need to express virility by asserting dominance over his partner, and calls out to Jérémie to return to the kitchen, repeating Charles' words to him about children. Charles tells Jérémie he should not use "bugger" anymore, as it's a bad word. He tells his son that "buggering" is like a rear- end collision. Apparently satisfied, the boy asks if he can play on his Nintendo again and Charles says yes, and lights another cigarette as his wife stares at him. At the school playground, Jérémie takes Charles' explanation literally, running into another boy, knocking him over, and shouting: "I buggered you! I buggered you!". He is asked where he learned the word, leading to a gross misunderstanding, as the boy overheard his parents talking about their anal sex acts. His half-understood version of life at home leads to Charles being arrested by the police and a visit with Geneviève from child protection services. Music plays again with a fade to black and the end credits roll. ===== * Bishop Nyarko *Gloria Osei Sarfo * Efia Odo * Moesha Boduong * Baby Blanche ===== A young couple becomes entangled with a younger woman, resulting in tragic consequences. ===== Set in 1965, Dean Howell is disfigured and left in a vegetative stage after a shooting accident while training in the army. Outside the café a lovers' quarrel is going on between a young man and woman (David Boutin and ). A man in a jacket () sits at a reserved table, and sticks a dynamite time bomb underneath it. Told the table is reserved, he rises and makes a phone call using the restaurant's phone, just as two English-speaking mafiosi (Bruno Di Quenzio and Manuel Tadros) enter and sit at the same table. The bomber takes out a pack of cigarettes in which he has hidden an instrument for setting the timer remotely, and sets it for five minutes. A sequence of images follows of everyone else lit up with white light. The bomber goes outside and rights a trash bin which had been knocked over during the lovers' quarrel. He dumps the remote and departs. Inside, a mafioso receives a phone call, swears in frustration, and both men leave without ordering. The little girl notices something under the reserved table. The quarrellers enter and sit at the table. The older man makes his way towards the older lady but stops short and sits in the booth of the portly man. The couple continue their quarrel, the older lady looking at them sympathetically. The little girl, called Josée- Marguerite, watches the bomb, whose timer now reads 3:15. Her mother chides her for staring at other people and she responds that there is something flashing under the table. Her mother looks, but sees only the young man's knee, and asks why the girl is making things up. Josée-Marguerite shrugs. As the timer reaches 2:55, the portly man observes the older lady in the reflection of the older man's pocket watch. She points at it and asks "What is that?" — but just then her mother arrives and admonishes her. The young woman places her hands on the table with some force and the bomb is half dislodged underneath. She says she is going to the washroom and her boyfriend had better have changed his attitude by the time she gets back. The portly man orders coffee and cigarettes. The timer counts down to 0:59, and the older lady rises and whispers advice to the young man on her way out. She pauses and smiles at the older man and he gets up to follow her while the timer counts down to 0:42. He is delayed by a new patron coming through the door — the mother's awaited boyfriend (). She asks Josée-Marguerite what it was she had wanted to say earlier, but the frustrated girl says it is "too late" as the timer counts down to 0:28. The young couple are reconciled, which pleases the older lady looking through the window. The older man continues to struggle with the door. The timer counts down from 0:10 to 0:03 — and stops. The older lady has found the remote in the bin outside. She flips a switch and the timer continues down to 0:01. She flips it again and holds it to her ear and shakes it, finally giving up and throwing it into the bin. She is followed by the older man as she leaves. Inside, the portly man enjoys the older lady's leftovers, Josée- Marguerite meets her mother's boyfriend, the waitresses finally have time to catch up on each other's news, and the young couple kiss passionately. The bomb remains half-dislodged, the timer still showing 0:01. ===== Vishwa (Vinod Veera), a carefree youngster, falls in love at first sight with his neighbour Kamala (Diya) who lives with the police officer Adhisaya Raj (Charan Raj) while Vignesh protects their house. The scene then shifts to 15 years later at the house of Gnanamoorthy (Sathyaraj), a politician in the Mettupalayam district, who lives with his wife Padma (Seetha), daughter Parvathy (Jyothika), and his mother (Sowcar Janaki). Parvathy spends her days in sorrow, hoping that her aggressive younger brother Saravanan (Navneeth Madhav) who had left the home 15 years ago, would return home. Her family too believes that the miracle may happen one day. One day, Moorthy receives a call from Jeevanand (Ilavarasu), who tells him that his long-lost son is found. Moorthy finds out that his "son" is Vicky (Karthi), a trickster and tourist guide in Goa. Moorthy takes Saravanan back to his house, where Padma is elated at seeing her son. However, Parvathy does not show any affection and keeps shunning Vicky. Saravanan's childhood friend and lover Sanjana (Nikhila Vimal) is also elated to reunite with 'Saravanan'. Later, it is revealed that Jeeva and Vicky had put a plan that Vicky would act as Saravanan for a while and would steal some money and escape. Jeeva and Vicky would then share the bounty. Saravanan's friend Karan (Anson Paul), who is a police officer, doubts whether Vicky is actually Saravanan, and feels his doubts are confirmed when he asks Vicky about their childhood and he blabbers. But Parvathy shuns Karan from trying to disprove Vicky/Saravanan because anyway the joy in family has come back upon his arrival. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Moorthy is actually the one who had made Jeeva make Vicky act as Saravanan. When Jeeva blackmails Moorthy for two crores, Moorthy kills Jeeva and puts the blame on Manimaaran (Bala), who was Saravanan's friend who hit him in the head at the beginning of the movie, and is now a local politician who wants to build a resort in the nearby village. Karan doubts Vicky in his involvement in the murder since he shows up at Jeeva's house to remove the evidence that he is a fraud. Karan doesn't find any evidence tying Moorthy or Vicky to the murder and arrests Manimaaran. It is revealed to the audience that Moorthy had entered the house once again and removed all the evidence. While Vicky is driving around in a car, he is hit by a lorry and narrowly escapes death. Another attack in the house confirms his suspicions that someone is trying to kill Saravanan and sets out to find what really happened to Saravanan. After tracing Saravanan's steps that night, he finds the lorry that hit him and on interrogating the driver, it is revealed that the perpetrator is Moorthy's right-hand man Sudhakar (Hareesh Peradi), who was angry that Saravanan had come back and he would lose the position of MLA to Saravanan. Finally, from a clue by Saravanan's girlfriend Sanjana (Nikhila Vimal), Vicky deduces that Saravanan had come back (he had fought with his mother and sister and was the reason for Moorthy's mother's condition) and in the anger that Saravanan was the cause of his mother's paralysis, Moorthy had killed him accidentally and used the sympathy to earn votes. On confronting him, Moorthy offers Vicky money to keep the matter quiet, but Vicky tells Padma, who is also aware of the truth. Finally, Parvathy holds Vicky at gunpoint and reveals the truth. After Saravanan had fought with his mother and sister and pushed his grandmother down the stairs, Padma and Parvathy take Moorthy's mother to the hospital. Meanwhile Saravanan who was hit on the head in a fight with his friend Manimaran, manages to escape and returns home in his bike. Moorthy and Parvathy comes back to the house and sees Saravanan in a drugged state. In a fit of rage, he keeps beating Saravanan, but when Saravanan hits him back in a drug-fueled rage, Moorthy breaks down. Parvathy tries to console her father and finds that Saravanan was doing drugs. She throws the drugs away, and Saravanan tries to choke her. In desperation, Parvathy grabs the nearest weapon and accidentally slits his throat, and Saravanan dies. In order to save his family's reputation, Moorthy fabricates a story where Saravanan had run away. Saravanan's body was interred in the forest area where the resort is now proposed to be built. Shocked at the revelation, Vicky decides to leave the house, and at the train station, Parvathy says that she had really accepted Vicky as her brother. He lives alone in a beachfront shack in the Bahamas with only a pet parrot for company and ekes out a living as a beachcomber, travelling among the islands on his boat Caca de Toro and selling items he finds washed up on the beach. While in town one day in 1933, Arno discovers that Coquina, a woman he is attracted to, has returned from a three- year stay with her uncle on another island. Coquina's grandmother dislikes Arno and wishes Coquina to marry Thomas, a shopkeeper with greater financial security than the indebted and impoverished Arno, but Arno makes romantic overtures to Coquina, and a romantic relationship soon develops between them. Arno visits Janine, a married woman with whom he has a sexual relationship, and announces that their relationship is over. Arno also encounters Janine's husband Jean-Pierre, a Frenchman who operates a boat named La Chamade that he uses both for marine salvage work and to offer charter cruises as a gigolo for wealthy female tourists. Aboard the La Chamade is Ortega, a shady associate of Arno's for whom Jean-Pierre often works. Ortega needs Arno's boat and knowledge of Cuban waters for an illegal voyage to Cuba and offers Arno US$500 to work with him, but Arno dislikes Ortega and turns him down. Ortega approaches the corrupt local police chief, Sergeant Major Jim, and they concoct a plot to blackmail Arno into working for Ortega. Aboard the Caca de Toro, Arno comes across a yacht, the Pride of Chicago, and is invited aboard. The yacht's owner, a rich American bootlegger, hires him to take a package to Bimini and the bootlegger's ailing wife asks him to pick up a package of medication for her as well while he is there. After Arno picks up her package on Bimini, one of Sergeant Major Jim's constables attempts to take it from him, but one of Arno's friends suddenly appears and assaults the constable, allowing Arno to escape just as a severe storm strikes. Arno seeks shelter in the bar and restaurant of a hotel. Sergeant Major Jim, Ortega, Janine, and Jean-Pierre all are there. Sergeant Major Jim seizes Arno's package, finds it contains heroin, and threatens Arno with arrest. Ortega intervenes, offering to pay Arno's bail if he will take the Cuba job Ortega is offering. A fight breaks out and Ortega pulls a knife, but Arno wrestles the knife away and stabs Ortega with it. Accused of killing Ortega, Arno escapes into the storm aboard the Caca de Toro. He and his boat survive the storm, but he discovers the next morning that his father's watch has broken during the ordeal. Arno tries to find the Pride of Chicago to deliver the package he picked up on Bimini, but discovers that the yacht sank in the storm and lies upside down on the ocean bottom in shallow water. Through portholes, he sees the drowned bodies of women he had met aboard the yacht, still adorned with expensive jewelry. He lacks the diving and salvage equipment necessary to enter the wreck and retrieve the jewelry. Determined to salvage valuables from the wreck before anyone else can, he returns to town and finds Coquina. The two of them steal diving equipment from Thomas's family and return to the wreck of the Pride of Chicago, but the stolen equipment malfunctions and Arno almost drowns. Coquina saves him. Ortega, it turns out, suffered only a minor stab wound in his fight with Arno. He hires Jean-Pierre to find Arno and bring him in for a reward. Jean-Pierre has heard about US$1 million in gold in a safe aboard the sunken Pride of Chicago and that a major search for her wreck has begun. Aboard the La Chamade, Jean-Pierre and Janine soon find the Caca de Toro. Arno and Jean-Pierre make a deal: Jean-Pierre — unable to dive due to eardrum damage — will not report the wanted Arno to the authorities or take him to Ortega and will provide diving and salvage equipment. In exchange, Arno will reveal the location of the Pride of Chicago, do the diving to bring up valuables from the wreck, and agree to split the profits. Jean-Pierre does not tell Arno about the gold aboard the yacht or that Ortega is alive. Arno begins diving on the wreck and retrieving expensive jewelry from the bodies inside her hull, narrowly avoiding an attack by a shark swimming inside the wreck. Arno and Jean-Pierre divide up the day's salvaged valuables that evening, hiding their shares so that neither can steal from the other. Arno and Coquina have sex, and afterwards he gives her his father's watch to wear around her neck. On his next dive, he makes his first attempt to enter the wreck and nearly suffocates when his air hose snags on the wreck; Coquina saves him again. Arno secretly keeps some of the salvaged jewelry for himself without letting Jean-Pierre know he had found it in the wreck, and he takes it to Sergeant Major Jim to bribe Jim to drop the murder charges he believes have been lodged against him. Jim accepts the bribe, then tells Arno that Ortega is alive and well. Arno returns to the La Chamade and accuses Jean-Pierre of lying to him about Ortega. A fight ensues, Arno throws Jean-Pierre overboard, and Arno pulls him back aboard only after Jean-Pierre informs him of the gold that is aboard the Pride of Chicago. While Arno makes a night dive on the Pride of Chicago, Jean-Pierre suggests to Coquina that Arno might betray her, take all the gold, and run off with Janine. He suggests that they double-cross Arno and Janine and split the profits with one another, and even that they could kill Arno by shutting off the air compressor feeding him air during his dive. In the wreck, the shark attacks Arno; he escapes, but loses the diving helmet and diving suit. Arno and Jean-Pierre go ashore and procure explosives with which to blow the safe open and an open-bottomed diving bell that will make up for the loss of the diving helmet and suit by allowing Arno to catch breaths of air without having to come to the surface. While they are gone, Janine confides in Coquina, telling her that she plans to leave Jean-Pierre as soon as the salvage operation is over and that Coquina should be careful about Arno abandoning her, especially when she is older and less beautiful. When Arno and Jean-Pierre return, Coquina tells Arno that Jean-Pierre plans to steal his share, and Arno says that she should play along and that they will turn the tables on Jean-Pierre by stealing his share instead. Janine accompanies Arno in the diving bell on his next dive, a night dive in which he detonates the explosives to open the safe aboard the Pride of Chicago. As he visits the diving bell to breathe, Janine proposes that they double-cross Coquina and Jean-Pierre, keep all the treasure for themselves, and run off together. Arno plays along and agrees with her. On the La Chamade, Jean-Pierre asks Coquina to join him in double-crossing Arno and Janine; Coquina agrees to the double-cross. At the wreck, Arno and Janine recover the gold, but the shark returns and attacks Janine through the open bottom of the diving bell, killing her and swimming off with her body. Back aboard the La Chamade, Jean- Pierre blames Arno for Janine's death, and Coquina appears to take Jean- Pierre's side. Ortega and one of his henchmen suddenly storm aboard and try to take all the salvaged valuables for themselves at gunpoint. In an effort to appease Ortega, Arno and Jean-Pierre both reveal the hiding places for their shares of the treasure aboard the La Chamade, but a struggle ensues. Ortega stabs Arno in the shoulder but Jean-Pierre shoots both Ortega and his henchman, killing them. Coquina tells Arno that she sided with Jean-Pierre in the argument over Janine's death merely to play along with Jean-Pierre in his scheme to double-cross Arno. With Arno's knowledge, Coquina drugs Jean-Pierre so that she and Arno can flee with all the salvaged gold and treasure, but Arno wakes up the next morning to find that Coquina also drugged him, and that she has disappeared in a skiff, taking all the gold and jewels for herself. He laughs ironically when Sergeant Major Jim arrives on another boat to arrest Jean-Pierre and him for possession of the gold. Arno returns to his life as a beachcomber. One day he stops by the bar where he picks up his mail and receives a package. It contains his father's watch, which Coquina has had repaired and mailed back to him. ===== A detective decides to go undercover to investigate a psychotherapist who, he thinks, is responsible for a murder. ===== The Investigator (voiced by Peter Dyneley), an omniscient being from another galaxy, has come to Earth to rid it of evil and corruption. To assist him, he has recruited two young Americans, John and Julie (voiced by Shane Rimmer and Sylvia Anderson), whom he has miniaturised and given special powers. In a cave on Malta, the Investigator (represented by a flashing green light) gives John and Julie their first assignment: they are to foil crooked entrepreneur Stavros Karanti's (Charles Thake) plan to steal a priceless Raphael painting from St John's Cathedral in Mdina. To aid their mission, he provides them with an eight-wheel miniature car equipped with powerful surveillance devices. Thanks to his new abilities, John instantly knows how to drive the car. John and Julie go to Angel's Leap and spy on Karanti as he boards his yacht, the Borgia, and meets his associate Christoph (Peter Borg). When the men come ashore and drive to Mdina, John and Julie follow. While touring St John's, to which he has donated a fake painting, Karanti learns of the cathedral's security arrangements. Karanti and Christoph return to the Borgia pursued by John and Julie, who board the yacht via a miniature speedboat provided by the Investigator. The youths accidentally knock over an object, alerting the criminals to their presence, but avoid being discovered thanks to their small size. Returning to St John's at night with John and Julie again on their tail, Karanti and Christoph knock out the cathedral's security guard and seize the Raphael painting. John tries to stop the criminals by mounting a chandelier and swinging it at them. Karanti fires a gun at John, missing him but causing him to fall to the floor, injured. Karanti and Christoph get away. Leaving Christoph at the harbour, Karanti drives to a nearby airfield, planning to leave Malta in his Cessna 150 plane. John and Julie beat him to the airfield and stow away aboard the Cessna before Karanti takes off. Speaking through a miniature megaphone, John pretends to be Karanti's conscience urging him to surrender. At the same time, Julie uses a remote control to make the plane repeatedly roll and dive, terrifying Karanti. On John's instructions, Karanti radios air traffic control to confess his crimes and lands at the airfield, where he is arrested by police. With the painting safely returned to the cathedral, John and Julie report back to the Investigator, who congratulates them on a job well done. ===== Roy Barch is a young Earth man who is the son of a scientist. His dreams of following his father's profession have been ended by the arrival on Earth of a benevolent alien race, the Lekthwan, which is far more advanced than humans. The Lekthwan pass on enough of their advanced science that many Earth scientists find that their knowledge has become obsolete, including Roy, who becomes a servant for a Lekthwan. One day, the alien's wife and two daughters arrive on Earth in a spaceship. The 20-year-old daughter, who Roy calls Ellen, is a cultural anthropologist and scientist. Roy asks her out on a date to hear a jazz band. When they arrive home, her family has been killed by huge aliens from the Klau race, who kidnap Roy and Ellen. The pair are transported to Magarak, a grim, dank Klau mining and manufacturing planet to work as slaves. Ellen is resigned to her fate, and says escape is impossible, but Roy insists that he will escape and get back to Earth. They escape to the wilderness, where they meet a tribe of other fugitive slaves led by a towering Klau named Clet. Every week, Klau and their Podruods (a subspecies of Klau used as warriors and fighters) come on flying rafts to hunt slave fugitives for sport. Roy suggests to Clet that the tribe fight back against the Klau hunters, but Clet wants to continue the statu quo. Roy leaves the tribe's cave, intending to become an exile. While he is in the woods, he spots a flying raft of Klau hunters coming towards the cave. He shoots the Klau and takes their alien rifles, which he uses to kill Clet (who Roy believes will never agree to fight the Klau). Roy announces he is the new leader of the tribe and tells them that they can escape from Magarak. While many dismiss his plan as hopeless, Roy argues that if they steal flying barges, they may be able to jury-rig an airtight enclosure and fly through space. He leads raiding expeditions to steal barges and equipment and they weld two barges face to face and mount life-supporters inside. As their raids continue, Roy realizes that the Klau will likely soon strike back. He mines the bluff overlooking the cave mouth with explosives and has a third barge filled with high explosives. When the Klau attack, they fly to the bluff, and Roy triggers the explosions. Roy orders the tribe to make the final preparations on their improvised space vessel, and then he sets out to take the explosives-filled air barge to the command and control center of the Klau on Magarek. Roy destroys it the Klau headquarters and returns to the cave. However, the tribe has left, including Ellen, and the improvised spaceship is gone. After a period, another air barge arrives filled with new fugitive slaves. Roy leads the creation of a second improvised spaceship, and they get back to Earth. He is hailed as a hero in the war against the Klau slavers. He goes to see Ellen again, and she asks him to marry her. At first he refuses, on the grounds that they are too different, and he fears that her advanced alien race looks down on humans. In the end he decides to take a risk and marry her.
