The political situation of the novel has two contexts: treaty with Avanti and conflict with Sorath. The novel emphasises that national unity is essential to face outside invasion and defend liberty. Just to project this idea, the author introduces the fictional character of Kirtidev. Kirtidev tries to uphold the unity of Patana and Avanti but Munjal opposes this, and the dream of Kirtidev is shattered. Kak also proposes to unite Āryāvarta, but by power. His adventures, designed to fulfill his political ambitions and to win Manjari's heart, cover the major part of the novel and are narrated in a romantic style. Udayan plays the villain and his clash with Kak for the fair hand of Manjari is elaborately described. The aim of the episode is to add passion to a tale of adventure. The importance of Kak is further heightened in Rajadhiraj, the last of the series. Kak departs for Sorath. In the absence of Kak, Revapal revolts in the region of Lata and declares independence, but the army of Patana crushes the revolt. To bring about a union of Lata and Patana, Kak arranges the marriage of Mrinalkumvariba, the princess of Lata, with Maharaj Jaidev, but fails to establish peace. He struggles hard to win over the disgruntled soldiers of Lata and at last becomes successful. ===== Set one year after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a blended family from Oakland, California goes on a camping trip at the fictional Big Rock National Park in Northern California, approximately from where dinosaurs from Fallen Kingdom were let loose. However, Quinn is attacked by the demon and the countdowns revert to their original times. A priest they consulted, Father John, identifies the demon as Ozhin. Amrita is a sparkling woman and a homemaker, who is shown to spend her days looking after Vikram and the house. They throw a party at home to celebrate Vikram's promotion that would have them relocate to London. At the party however, Vikram gets a call informing him that his promotion contract has been compromised for his junior. Angered, he gets into an argument with his superior whom he accuses of two timing him. When Amrita tries to break up the argument, Vikram slaps her in front of everyone. The incident leaves her shaken; she starts to realize all the little unfair things that she had previously ignored and admits to herself that Vikram slapping her isn't what a husband who respects her would do. Moreover, Vikram refuses to take accountability for his actions, stating that he was upset, she got in the way, and things like that happen sometimes (which is wrong). Unable to "forget it and move on", as everyone advises her to, Amrita leaves for her parent’s home and stays there, leading to an argument between her and Vikram, as he thinks she's overreacting. He sends her a legal document to legally force her to return home. When she refuses, her lawyer explains to her that her options are to either reconcile, file for legal separation or get a divorce. She files for divorce, shocking her family and relatives, who also believe she should get over it. Amrita doesn't make any claims for alimony nor does she file a domestic violence charge; her stand is simply that Vikram has no right to hit her, not even once. She explains that she only asks for respect and happiness and the slap opened her eyes to the fact that she wasn't getting either. To make things more complicated, she discovers she is pregnant. Vikram and his lawyer play dirty when he finds out that she is pregnant. They make false claims against her mental stability, honesty and file frivolous charges against Amrita to try and intimidate her and get sole custody of the unborn child. Hurt, Amrita decides to file for the domestic violence charge against Vikram unless he agrees to a mutual consent divorce and joint custody of their expected child. Vikram and his lawyer agree to the terms presented by Amrita and settle for a mutual consent divorce. Meanwhile Vikram's superior informs him that the board changed their mind and Vikram got the promotion. While congratulating him personally, he mentions that he heard about the divorce and calmly tells him that what happened on the night of the party was Vikram's fault. He talks about how even though Vikram was arguing with him, he did not slap him even once but raised a hand on Amrita who was just trying to help him. Later at a family ceremony to bless her pregnancy, Amrita speaks to her mother-in-law in front of all the members of both families, explaining that she was hurt that on the night that he slapped her, nobody in the family came to see her or asked even once if she was okay; they did not even chastise Vikram, tell him he was wrong, or advise him to apologise. They simply told her to tolerate it to keep the peace. She mentions that she had lost her sense of identity over the years while trying hard to keep Vikram and everyone else happy. Her mother-in-law apologises for the family's mistakes, acknowledging their ingrained misogyny (prejudice against women), and tells Amrita that she is doing the right thing by taking a stand for herself. Vikram realises he is in the wrong. Throughout the movie, Amrita's journey is intertwined with that of two other women, her lawyer and her maid, who realize that they have been wronged by their husbands as well. Her actions help them find the strength to confront those problems and find solutions. The movie also shows snippets of the life of Amrita's neighbour who is a single working mother to a young girl who regularly practices dancing with Amrita. In the end when Amrita and Vikram meet to finalize the divorce, he apologises to her properly and tells her that he rejected the promotion and quit his job. He wonders out loud why he ever thought that he had a right to hit her or disrespect her in any way. He explains that he will start again from scratch and will try to be someone who deserves her. They complete the formalities and part ways with a sense of renewed hope. ===== In a remote village, Rasappa (Subramanian Gopalakrishnan) is an orphan who works as a servant in the house of the local bigwig Periyavar (Delhi Kumar). His cellmate, Trimagasi, explains that they are in a "Vertical Self-Management Center", a tower-style facility in which food is delivered via a platform that travels from the top, stopping for a fixed period on each floor. Those on lower levels can eat only what those above leave, and the cell is heated or cooled to fatal temperatures if anyone tries to keep any of the food. People are randomly reassigned to a new level every month. Each resident is allowed to bring one item in with them, Goreng choosing a copy of Don Quixote, and Trimagasi a self-sharpening knife. Trimagasi reveals that when assigned to level 132, he and his former cellmate cannibalized a resident who had fallen down the shaft. One day, a bloodied woman named Miharu rides down on the platform. Trimagasi explains that she descends the pit every month in search of her child. As they talk, it is revealed that Goreng volunteered to spend six months in the facility in exchange for a diploma, and Trimagasi is serving a year-long sentence for manslaughter. Over the first month, they become friends, but on the day of the room shuffle, Goreng wakes up tied to the bed. They have been reassigned to level 171, where the platform is expected to be empty of food when it arrives. Trimagasi explains that he plans to cut strips of Goreng's flesh to sustain them both. On the eighth day, Trimagasi cuts into Goreng's leg but is attacked by Miharu as she comes down the platform. She frees Goreng and he kills Trimagasi. Miharu cuts some of Trimagasi's flesh, feeding Goreng and eating some herself before continuing down. In the third month, Goreng awakes on level 33 with a woman, Imoguiri, and her dog. Goreng recognizes her as the Administration official who interviewed him before sending him to the cells. She says she was unaware of the horrible conditions and volunteered to try to fix things when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Imoguiri rations her food and attempts to convince those below to do so as well, but they ignore her. Goreng mentions Miharu's search for her child to Imoguiri, but Imoguiri says that children under 16 are not allowed into the facility and Miharu entered alone. Goreng awakens the following month on level 202 and finds that Imoguiri has hanged herself. Goreng eats her flesh to survive, experiencing hallucinations of her and Trimagasi instructing him to do so. At the start of the fifth month, Goreng is assigned to level 6. His new cellmate, Baharat, attempts unsuccessfully to climb to the upper level. Estimating that there are 250 levels, Goreng convinces Baharat to ride the platform down with him, rationing the food so all get a share. As they descend, they hand out portions to the prisoners, attacking those who refuse to cooperate. On the way, they encounter Miharu fighting two other inmates and try to save her, but she is killed and they are severely injured. Goreng and Baharat continue to descend, eventually reaching level 333 where the platform stops. Goreng notices a child - Miharu's daughter - hiding under the bed. He gets off the platform, followed hesitantly by Baharat, only to have the platform continue downward, leaving them behind. Despite Baharat's reluctance, they feed the girl an untouched panna cotta they had saved as a "message" for the Administrators at the top. Goreng passes out and dreams of Baharat telling him that "the girl is the message." The next day, Goreng finds Baharat dead of his injuries and takes the child with him when the platform arrives. They descend to the bottom of the pit, where he once again sees Trimagasi, who tells him that "the message requires no bearer." Goreng gets off the platform and walks away with Trimagasi, both turning to watch as the girl ascends. ===== In 2001, Anupama Banerjee arrives in London with her husband Ajay, and reveals that she is suing her mother, Shakuntala Devi. She lives a comfortable but boring life to which her mother wishes to free her. Her grandmother wishes for Amina to marry an older man from their village. Amina's mother protests and unknowingly sells Amina to strangers in the hopes of her finding a better life in the city. On her journey Amina meets young man who was also sold as a young man and, in some way, becomes her only friend. The two run away with a small band of kids who were also sold off. As the two embark on various errands through Accra they try to earn their keep. The young man, Seidu, becomes popular as he is a quick and hard worker. Amina is clumsy and cannot keep up with the work given to her. She quickly finds herself living in a compound of a woman who demands rent daily. Here Amina learns in order to stay she must always have money, however her job as a head-porter is not lucrative enough. She decides to join her neighbor, the landlord's favorite, as a prostitute in order to stay. For a while this goes well, but she grows sadder as the work goes on. Eventually she tries to reunite with Seidu. He turns her away because he cannot afford to be an outsider in his newly found living/working arrangements as a porter. Amina returns to the taxing compound and grows complacent as time passes. During this time Amina's Uncle, Akatok, goes to search for Amina in Accra after her mother finds out the news her daughter is “missing”. For months Akatok searches but to no avail. He decides he will give up after just three months of searching, but is put back on track by an old friend with great advice. Amina, now more accustomed to her job, sleeps with a man who refuses to pay her the promised wage. She, in turn, breaks a glass over his head and steals the money from his wallet. Amina runs to find Seidu to tell him she wishes to go back home. Instead she find Seidu's boss who calls her in to wait on Seidu together. Seidu's boss attacks Amina while they are alone and rapes her. Seidu comes back to the terrible scene and apologizes for interrupting his boss. As he backs away he is visibly distraught by what he's just witnessed. Seidu, later on, beats his boss for what he's done leaving him bleeding in the street. Amina returns to the demanding landlord and her neighbor who tries to care for her after the attack. Soon after Amina and the landlord learn of Amina's pregnancy to which the landlord berates her. Amina cannot have a baby in the compound, so she goes to live on the streets of Accra while just a few weeks pregnant. Eight months pass and Amina has become a head-porter again, this time more graceful and heavier; she is in her last trimester of pregnancy. Akatok and his friend continue their search nearby. While working Amina encounters a mob of people who are trying to beat a man to death. They call this man an animal and pour gasoline over him. Once she comes closer Amina realizes that the bloodied and beaten man is Seidu. In disgust and horror she turns away as the match is being lit. She also notices Seidu's boss in the crowd watching over everything as dark smoke begins to rise behind him. At this moment Akatok and his long-time friend spot Amina in the crowd and go to her. Akatok is overjoyed but it is short-lived as he notices Seidu's boss. He points out the man to Amina as her father, Razak; Amina immediately faints on hearing the news. Finally, back in her hometown Amina, and Akatok, find her mother and grandmother in their compound. They rejoice for her return but again Amina falters, clutching her stomach. She gives birth in her family's compound under the star-filled sky. In the final scenes we hear the baby crying and the grandmother chanting over the baby. We hear a man, presumably Akatok, speak in his native tongue. The words on screen as he speaks read: This child will never be accepted by tradition so in our hearts we buried a secret only heaven knows. ===== Mogul Academy is an entrepreneurial school where its students work to make their businesses come true. Students Valeria, Winnie, Yuna, and Celeste work to establish their businesses and make them come true. ===== Eli, a preacher in Hot Springs, Arkansas who inherited his father’s Baptist church after his death, has watched the once thriving congregation and church’s funds dwindle down to nearly nothing. Emmanuel Baptist, the competing church in Hot Springs, boasts high congregation numbers and the minister, “Brother Aaron”, even has his sermons broadcast on the local radio. After Eli’s sermon one service, he notices a drifter, Daniel, in attendance for the church’s free pot-luck afterwards. Eli introduces himself and his pregnant wife June to Daniel. Daniel is initially standoffish and abruptly leaves when Eli does not offer him a place to stay after he asks. Eli’s friend Trevor invites him to go hunting. He tells Eli that the congregation have been talking about replacing him with a different pastor. Trevor has invited the Southern Baptist Board of Churches to what he calls the Revival, a church service they will sell tickets to with food, singing, dancing, and plenty of evangelical preaching from Eli and Eli reluctantly accepts. Later, Eli finds Daniel waiting outside the church because he is hungry and invites him in. In Eli’s office, Daniel opens up to him when Eli offers his own lunch to him. Daniel notices a Marcel Proust collection on a bookshelf and the two men connect over the author. When Daniel’s finished eating, Eli brings Daniel to his father’s cabin in the woods—a place Eli’s father kept secret as a way to deal with Eli’s alcoholic mother’s erratic behavior (before she also died) away from the eyes of the city and his parish. Eli cleans and re-bandages a wound on Daniel’s hand when he embraces Eli and the two almost kiss before Eli leaves. The next day, another parishioner, Jimmy, visits Eli at his office because he is feeling sexually attracted to his cousin, Missy. Eli does little to help Jimmy, but listens to him. Meanwhile, Daniel buys ingredients to make meth. Trevor invites Eli over for a meal to discuss the Revival. He reveals that Brother Aaron has been doctoring his attendance records and the Southern Baptist Board will be removing him from his position at Emmanuel Baptist. In the meantime, the church’s congregation will need somewhere to go and Trevor convinces Eli to try to bring them to the Revival. Over their meal, it is also revealed that Trevor is a recovering alcoholic, nearly a year sober. That night, Eli brings Daniel more food and they eventually have a sexual encounter, Eli accidentally spending the night. Upon returning home, June is upset but Eli appeases her when he washes her feet, although she is aware of his happy attitude. At his office, Eli is again visited by Jimmy about his feelings for his cousin, which Eli advises him against. June hosts a luncheon prayer circle with the women in the congregation and at the cabin, Daniel cooks meth. That night, Eli’s visit to the cabin again lasts late into the night and he and Daniel have sex, but Eli returns home. Trevor books Eli a radio interview to promote the Revival and he makes an impassioned statement. That night, June confronts him with an exposing picture of Daniel and Eli together and they fight. The next day, Daniel throws away the meth he cooked after Eli implored him to stop, Jimmy watches Missy at her job, and Trevor struggles with his sobriety, while parenting his daughter, who he recently gained custody over. At the cabin that night, Eli tries ending things with Daniel, who confesses his feelings for Eli, but Eli leaves. In his next sermon, Eli begins to utilize more flamboyant, evangelical preaching methods and is finally able to excite his congregation until Daniel shows up and confesses his homosexuality in front of them. Eli takes the opportunity to “heal” Daniel with a blessing in front of the parishioners and Daniel plays along. After the sermon, Eli drives Daniel to the cabin, insisting he pack up and leave but Daniel refuses. Eli returns home where he learns the “healing” has caused the Revival to sell out. June reveals that she took the photo of Eli. He tells June that Daniel will not leave so she tells Eli she is going to “clean up his mess”. Eli drinks heavily and wanders the town drunk, eventually ending up at the church. June goes to the cabin and first threatens Daniel with an allegory, but he still refuses to leave. She exits the cabin as Trevor enters. He beats Daniel unconscious and hogties him. He has Jimmy watch Daniel, telling him they will put him on the next bus out of the city, and leaves. Eli decides to leave the church and go to the cabin, heavily intoxicated. He hits a deer but eventually arrives at the cabin finding the brutalized, barely conscious Daniel and tells Jimmy to leave. Eli lights some newspaper on fire and uses it to burn the cabin down with Daniel inside. As church choir music swells, he watches the cabin burn from his car, Trevor drinks from a whisky bottle and sobs at home, looking over his daughter, and Jimmy finally has sex with Missy. Later, Eli sits on the church stage as an enthusiastic Baptist choir performs for a completely full congregation. When they finish, Eli walks to the pulpit to begin his Revival sermon. ===== The film tells the story of a rickshaw painter, Alpha. He saw disharmony of the society. Yagami moves to Kamurocho, where he is taken in and raised by yakuza patriarch Mitsugu Matsugane. Matsugane's friend Ryuzo Genda takes an interest in Yagami, paying his law school tuition and later hiring him to work at his law firm. Yagami develops a romantic relationship with prosecutor Mafuyu Fujii, and gains widespread recognition in 2015 after proving Advanced Drug Development Center (ADDC) janitor Shinpei Okubo innocent of murdering patient Koichi Waku. Shortly thereafter, Okubo is arrested for killing his girlfriend Emi Terasawa and burning down his apartment. As a result, Yagami breaks up with Fujii and gives up practicing law. Three years later, at the beginning of Judgment, Yagami has become a private detective, working alongside former Matsugane family yakuza Masaharu Kaito. While helping prove Matsugane captain Kyohei Hamura innocent of murder, Yagami becomes interested in a serial murder case in which the victims' eyes are removed from the bodies. Dubbing the killer "The Mole", Yagami and Kaito begin investigating the case with help from Fujii, Genda, and several others. After the Mole kills Yagami's former colleague Masamichi Shintani, Yagami discovers ties between the Mole and ADDC doctor Yoji Shono. Yagami meets Shigeru Kajihira, who reveals a failed plan to take over the area around the ADDC for a land redevelopment program that was foiled when researchers claimed to have found a potential cure for Alzheimer's disease named "AD-9". Kajihira asks Yagami to investigate the death of former ADDC vice-director Toru Hashiki. While police detective Mitsuru Kuroiwa accuses fellow detective Kazuya Ayabe of being the Mole, Yagami theorizes the real culprit is conducting human experiments to test the effectiveness of AD-9 and that the deaths of Waku, Shintani and Hashiki were failed experiments. He also suspects Shono killed Terasawa to cover up the experiments. After Matsugane is killed defending them both from the Mole, Hamura tells Yagami that Kuroiwa is the Mole and provides Yagami with evidence of the ADDC's connection to Shintani's murder. Yagami successfully defends Ayabe in court and proves the ADDC's involvement in the murders. During the trial, Yagami learns Kuroiwa has escaped and pursues him to the ADDC. Yagami defeats Kuroiwa, who is shot by the police, while Shono dies of side effects from an AD-9 injection. The court frees Okubo and places the others involved in the conspiracy under arrest. Janina spends most of her time studying astrology and translating the poetry of William Blake into Polish with her friend Dizzy. She had two dogs as pets but they both went missing. One day, her neighbour Big Foot, a frequent hunter, is found dead in his home by Janina's friend Oddball. From Janina and Oddball's inspection of the scene, it seems Big Foot choked on a bone while eating. Janina also finds a shocking photograph in Big Foot's house, the contents of which are revealed in the penultimate chapter. Janina disliked Big Foot because she disagrees with hunting animals. She begins to believe that animals could have killed Big Foot out of vengeance. She writes to the local police, who ignore her theory. The police commandant–called the Commandant by Janina–is also a hunter and is later found dead beside his car by Dizzy. The Commandant's death emboldens Janina's beliefs, but her friends Dizzy and Oddball are sceptical of her. Janina is questioned by police as a witness to the crime scene. One officer accuses Janina of seemingly valuing the life of animals more than that of humans. Janina tells them that she values both equally. The village's wealthy fur farmer and brothel owner, Innerd, goes missing. Residents are convinced he ran away with his lover. An entomologist named Borys–spelled "Boros" by Janina–comes to the village. He is researching endangered beetles and hopes to convince the Polish government to protect them from extinction. Janina likes Boros and allows him to move in with her. The two eventually become romantically involved. Innerd is later found dead in the forest, with an animal snare around his leg. Weeks later, the President, leader of a local social club and also a hunter, is found dead, covered in beetles. A new Catholic chapel is opened in the village and Father Rustle, a local Catholic priest and avid hunter, is its leader. In one of his sermons, Father Rustle praises hunters, calling them "ambassadors and partners of the Lord God in the work of creation." Janina interrupts the sermon, yelling at Rustle and the rest of the villagers. She asks, "Have you fallen asleep? How can you listen to such nonsense without batting an eyelid? Have you lost your minds? Or your hearts? Have you still got hearts?" Days later, the presbytery burns down and Father Rustle is found dead. Dizzy and Oddball confront Janina, telling her they know she did it and the circumstances of the President's death gave her away. Janina shows her friends the photograph she found at Big Foot's house, which shows Big Foot, the Commandant, Innerd, the President, and Father Rustle standing near recently killed animals, including her two dogs. Big Foot, she explains, really did choke on a deer bone, but this event, and her discovery of the photograph, inspired her to kill the next four men. The next day, police arrive at Janina's house and search it, but she evades capture. Janina and Boros then flee to the Czech Republic. ===== In August 2001, in the small town of Villa Alsina, Fermín Perlassi, his wife Lidia and his friend Antonio Fontana come up with a plan to reopen "La Metodica", an agricultural cooperative which went bankrupt over ten years ago. To do so, they learn the minimal investment to cover the initial costs reaches 300,000 pesos and bring the idea to the town's residents: mechanic Rolo Belaúnde, self-employed fix-it brothers Gómez, unemployed riparian Medina and Carmén Lorgio, the town's shipping company's owner, who all agree and chip in. They manage to reach 158,653 pesos, which Fermín deposits in the bank vault in Villagrán. A few days later, Alvarado, the bank manager, summons Fermín to the bank and manipulatively convinces him to deposit the money in his own account, claiming the central bank will probably not approve his loan request without a warranty on the debt. Fermín complies and travels back to Alsina, but the financial crisis reaches its peak the next day as the President announces the implement of the corralitos, which practically freezes every U.S. dollar-denominated accounts in Argentina and prohibits any weekly withdrawals over 250 pesos. Soon after, they learn Alvarado knew about the incoming government measures beforehand and personally approved a loan request by a lawyer named Fortunato Manzi, who converted the credit to U.S. dollars and withdrew all deposited dollar bills only a few minutes after Fermín left the bank. Fermín and Lidia travel to Villagrán to confront Alvarado, to no avail; in the way back, their car is run off the road by a truck, which results in Lidia's death and a severely injured Fermín. One year later, Belaúnde and Fontana learn Manzi has contracted a construction worker to dig a 10 square feet hole in the middle of a nearby rural area and become convinced it serves as an underground burial vault to store the dollars. Fermín, his son Rodrigo, Fontana, Medina, the Gómez brothers, Carmen and her son, Hernán, reunite and decide to devise a plan to crack the vault and retrieve their "stolen" money. They soon learn Manzi has installed an impenetrable alarm device around the vault, which makes it impossible to break in; however, after rewatching a scene from How to Steal a Million, Fermín comes up with the idea to set off the alarm multiple times in order to force Manzi to disconnect it from its battery, which coupled with a power supply cut, would allow the crew to enter the vault. Meanwhile, Rodrigo poses as a gardener assigned to work at Manzi's office lawn to keep track of him. Fermín and Fontana track the power cables and succeed in installing a junction box, repeatedly cutting and restoring the area's power supply and causing the alarm to set off multiple times a day. Manzi eventually disconnects the battery, but Florencia, his secretary, realizes Rodrigo is not a gardener, which prompts him to confess her their plans. Fermín calls off the heist in fear she will tell Manzi about it, but Rodrigo reassures him otherwise and they carry on with the plan. That night, the crew splits into two groups: Belaúnde and Medina are tasked with destroying the power generator that supplies the area while Fermin, Rodrigo and Hernán will break into the safe when the lights go off; however, Medina miscontrols the toy car carrying the dynamite and creates an explosion that destroys all generators, causing a massive blackout. Manzi, who is in a party affected by the power outtage, suspects something is wrong and heads to the vault. Meanwhile, Fermín and the others successfully break into the vault and find millions of dollars in cash, proceeding to retrieve the money. Manzi arrives soon after, but his car gets stuck in a mud barricade set by Fontana. The crew flees with the money as Manzi curses and threatens them by a distance. Later, they separate the money in two cars: one driven by Rodrigo and other by Hernán, and return to Alsina. The next day, Fermin is consoling Cármen: Hernán ran away with nearly 2 million dollars in his car and haven't made contact since. In spite of that, they use the money to reopen La Metodica, which guarantees a better life for everyone in Alsina. In a mid- credits scene, Manzi arrives at Fontana's auto shop with a flat tire. Fontana unzips his pants, rubs his mate's bombilla against his crotch, places it in the gourd and offers it to Manzi, who drinks it as his tire is swapped. ===== In 1936, at the start of the Spanish Civil War, a newly-married man who has criticized Franco's army and government fears that he will be the victim of reprisal killings and goes into hiding. With the birth of his son, Higinio starts to reconsider whether he should remain in hiding. His wife tells him the family has been needing his help. In the next section, his wife and son start to question why he remains in hiding, arguing that no one is still looking for him. In the neighborhood, it is becoming well known that he is living under the house. However, he has become habituated to his isolation, and it is hard for him to leave his hole. The next chapter is titled “desenterrar”. Higinio realizes that it is probably safe to come out of hiding. When the Franco government announces an amnesty, and pardons him for his political offenses, he still cannot leave the trench. After 33 years, his isolation has become his normal life. The final chapter, “Salir” (“go out”), begins when his wife, Rosa, leaves him, realizing that Higinio is too trapped in fear. Finally, he manages to leave the hole in 1969, as many other "topos" ("moles") show themselves again. ===== The story of Goddess Vaishno Devi begins with the battle between the Gods and Demons reaching dangerous feats, and in order to end all the evil on Earth, the trinity of Goddesses, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati/Mahakali, combine together to create a divine force. His plane runs out of fuel and he crash lands on Paradise Island. Two Amazons, Diana and Mala recover him and bring him to their hospital, though they and the other Amazons show surprise at a man on Paradise Island. Diana spends several days nursing his wounds and slowly begins to fall in love with him. Her mother, Queen Hippolyta reminds the Amazon that men are forbidden to set foot on Paradise Island, much less remain there. She declares that as soon as Trevor is fit for travel, he is to be returned to the United States. She then, in two pages that were mostly text, tells Diana that in ancient Greece they were the foremost nation. But Hercules attacked them and was defeated due to Hippolyta's magic girdle, so Hercules resorted to trickery and stole the girdle, his men then enslaved and chained the Amazons. Hippolyta later appealed to Aphrodite and was freed and her girdle returned to her, the Amazons took the enemy fleet and travelled to a new island, however they would always wear bracelets to remind them not to succumb to men. Hippolyta shows the magic sphere, which was given to her by Athena after they defeated the army of Hercules, and with which she can see the past, present, and even predict the future, which has made the Amazons an advanced race. During Steve Trevor's convalescence, Hippolyta and Diana use the Magic Sphere to divine the nature of his arrival on the island. They look into the past and learn of Trevor's secret mission. Two Nazi agents named von Storm and Fritz hijacked an experimental robot plane and attempted to bomb an army airfield. Trevor heroically took control of the plane and drove the Nazis away. He was in pursuit of Fritz's fighter across the ocean, when he crashed on the island. After the goddesses of the Amazons, Aphrodite and Athena appear before her, Hippolyta decrees that an Amazon agent should be sent to the United States to aid the Americans in their fight against the Nazis. She holds a great tournament to determine which of her warriors should act as their good will ambassador. Diana wants to participate in the tournament, but Hippolyta forbids it. Diana disguises herself with a simple mask and enters the tournament anyway. She masters every competition and becomes one of two finalists to compete in the "Bullets and Bracelets" competition. Diana defeats her opponent, Mala, because she deflects all five bullets while Mala is unable to deflect the fifth bullet and is wounded in the arm; Diana then reveals her true identity to the crowd. Hippolyta agrees to allow Diana to travel to the United States. She provides her with a patriotic costume and bestows upon her the name of Wonder Woman. The conference attracts a large, varied crowd that includes some of the Roys' enemies, such as Lawrence, Stewy and Sandy. Shiv, meanwhile, is shadowing Frank in New York, and receives word that a news story about Waystar's cruise line scandal is about to be published. Logan, Kendall, and Gerri are also informed about the imminent release of the article by Hugo Baker, a senior VP of communications at Waystar's parks and cruises division. They get on a call with Shiv and decide how to contain the story's release, and agree that they will need a "white knight" to represent the company at the event should the scandal go public. Logan asks Shiv to fly to the conference. Meanwhile, Tom and Greg struggle to find an appropriate slogan for Tom's upcoming presentation on ATN after Greg discovers that the company violated viewers' privacy rights. Roman and Gerri find ways to keep Waystar financially afloat amidst the triple burden of the scandal, the takeover bid and the PGM acquisition; Roman attempts to enlist the aid of Azerbaijani billionaire Eduard Asgarov, who agrees to provide money to Waystar if the company runs propaganda on behalf of his home country. That night, Shiv arrives at Argestes, and Tom confides in her his fear of becoming the public scapegoat for the cruises scandal, given that he was placed in charge of the documents and attempted to destroy the evidence. Nan and Rhea arrive at the conference the following morning and have breakfast with Logan and Kendall, who attempt to rush through the final steps in securing their deal. In the middle of the meeting, however, New York Magazine publishes their exposé of the scandal, and Logan and Kendall excuse themselves to assess the situation alongside Shiv, Roman, Gerri and Hugo. They learn the details of Lester McClintock's sexual misconduct aboard the company's cruises, and after some disagreement, decide that Kendall and Roman should represent the company at an upcoming panel discussion at the conference that night. Rhea meets with Shiv and admits that she wants the acquisition to succeed out of her own self-interest. She also convinces Shiv to go onstage with her brothers at the event. During the panel discussion, the siblings offer conflicting responses to most of the interview questions, and the family becomes indignant when Shiv makes a joke referring to Logan as a "dinosaur" and seemingly suggests that it is time for him to step down from the company. In the argument that ensues following the event, Logan violently strikes Roman in the face, angering Kendall. The conference ends with a roast event hosted by stand-up comedian Zell Simmons, who makes a number of cutting jokes at the Roys regarding the cruises scandal. Nan, who has begun to reconsider her relationship with the Roys, walks out of the event, and Logan and Rhea chase after her. Nan fires Rhea for conspiring with the Roys and calls off the acquisition deal. An infuriated Logan is unable to do anything as Nan is driven away from Argestes. ===== The two main characters, Estela and Epitafio ("about the weirdest variation of Romeo and Juliet yet to emerge anywhere"), are former orphans who engage in human trafficking, gathering (and brutalizing) people who have fled their countries to sell them. Epitafio is forcibly married to another woman on orders of Father Nicho, the priest who runs the orphanage where they were dumped; Estela and he carry on a love affair mostly per cell phone as they ferry their loads of human cargo through an unnamed border area, with the orphanage as one of the central points. Father Nicho, who runs part of their operation, is planning to get rid of Epitafio and install a younger protégé, Sepelio, in his place. Other characters are a 14- and a 16-year-old boy, "sons of the jungle", who guide groups of refugees through the jungle and steal their possessions. One of the refugees, a "giant" former boxer whom Epitafio names Mausoleo, is saved from the group to become complicit in the operation, enforcing Epitafio's violent rule and killing two men early in the novel – he crushes a young refugee boy to death because he wouldn't obey Epitafio's command for him to keep quiet. His "inner struggle" is, according to one critic, the novel's "one true moral conflict". The novel's structure, according to Daniel Hahn, engages the readers and compromises them: "Estela and Epitafio are our main anchors, their experiences and relationship driving the story's developments, but these magnetic central characters are people-traffickers and kidnappers, capable of startling violence and dehumanising cruelty" – as readers become invested in them, they thus align themselves with the two. ===== It's about how a youth named "Rush" find love and to what lengths he goes to keep it. After losing their stash and money while barely escaping police, they are given two days to repay their supplier. The two reconnect with Daphne, a wealthy, unstable childhood friend who lives alone in a remote rural mansion, in the hopes of finding a safe in her house that is full of money. The girls rekindle an intricate fantasy game they played as children - one in which Tilda assumes the role of a young girl, Daphne as her mother, and Petula a visiting doctor. The game has three rules - everyone must play, no outsiders allowed, and nobody leaves. Daphne makes Petula do increasingly bizarre things as the game progresses, such as hitting Tilda’s knee with a hammer and simulating sexual intercourse with Daphne. Tilda suffers from a bad drug trip, interspersed with a flashback of an argument between the three girls during their childhood that led to Daphne being pushed out of the treehouse and landing on her head, resulting in her current unstable mental state which causes her to believe the game they’re playing is real. In the present, Daphne has bound and gagged Petula and Tilda, having fully lost herself to the delusion that she is actually their mother. Daphne is visited by Detective Siegel, who knew all three girls when they were children, after he receives reports of screams coming from her home. Though Daphne's odd behavior makes him suspicious, he leaves after she reminds him that he doesn't have a search warrant. Daphne later gives Petula clues to the location and code of the safe, and promises to free the girls if she can find it. Petula succeeds and the girls escape, but are pursued by Daphne, who runs Petula over with her car before taking them back to her mansion. Daphne cuffs Petula to a chair and locks Tilda in a cage, forcing the latter to watch as she gives Petula a Glasgow smile. The next morning, Daphne tells them that the “game” has concluded and that they are free to leave, but also that she believes she has become pregnant from her faux sexual encounter with Petula. Realizing that this gives them new power over her, Petula restarts the game by convincing Daphne that she needs to be taken in for an emergency caesarean section. Just as the two girls are about to attack an unconscious Daphne with surgical tools, they are stopped by Spiegel, but Daphne wakes up and repeatedly stabs him. Tilda gleefully joins her, while Petula initially watches on in horror, but eventually joins the other two in bludgeoning him to death. They bury his body in Daphne’s yard before all three women return to living in the mansion and playing the game, their scars from the injuries inflicted by Daphne having miraculously disappeared. As Petula grows increasingly wary of her surroundings, it is eventually revealed that the entire movie has taken place within Daphne’s mansion - every event that occurred up until this point was merely a part of the game, which Tilda is in on as well - and that Petula has tried to escape several times, only to be punished each time by having her arms burned. This "round" of the game concludes when all three women pretend to commit suicide, only to begin again, showing Daphne as an old woman in a dilapidating house, suggesting that they have been playing for many years. ===== Clair Hamilton is a military veteran whose son Charlie has been kidnapped. She brings a bag of money as ransom for Charlie but at the exchange she is double-crossed, leading to a shootout. Clair shoots two of the kidnappers but one of the men, Larsen, escapes. Clair falls into a frozen lake while chasing him but Larsen pulls her out because he was not planning to kill anyone and did not know about the plans to double-cross her. Clair has a peaceful encounter with a black wolf while recovering, then catches up with Larsen and forces him at gunpoint to take her to the leader of the kidnappers, Father, a man who is angry at her deceased father for closing a mill and leaving money owed to him. As they near the hideout in the snowy forest they are fired upon, but the rifleman is attacked and killed by three wolves. Clair finds the hideout but the kidnappers have moved on to a lodge on the other side of the mountain to await a hand-off to sell off the boy and Larsen reveals that Father killed his father and abducted Larsen and his mother when he was a boy. At the lodge Clair attempts to exchange the money and Larsen for Charlie. Father pulls out a concealed gun and shoots at Charlie but Larsen jumps in front of the bullet and is shot in the back. Clair shoots Father and the other kidnappers, then flees on a snowmobile pursued by the uninjured kidnapper Hobbs whose metal knife stopped the bullet Clair shot at her. Clair crashes her snowmobile and gets into a knife fight with Hobbs but is pushed over the edge of a waterfall and Charlie is captured again. Clair climbs out of the river and is guided into the forest by three wolves. She returns to the lodge, kills the injured kidnapper with a hatchet, and confronts Father, who is inside torturing Larsen with a red hot fire poker while confessing that he killed Larsen's mother after she left him. Charlie returns with Hobbs and Clair throws a knife into her throat. Larsen attacks Father but Father shoots him then turns the gun on Charlie as Clair leaps at Father and pushes him out a window. Clair thanks Larsen before he dies, then she climbs on a snowmobile and exchanges glances with the black wolf as it approaches before she escapes with Charlie. Father rises out of the snow as a pack of wolves descends on him and tears him apart. Three months later, in the spring, Clair and Charlie are hiking a path on the mountain when she sees the black wolf again and smiles. ===== A retired military service man nicknamed Kuttymama has become a nuisance to others of his village because of his bragging nature. The next day, the Roy children record messages for Logan's 50th anniversary at Waystar, which will be celebrated in his hometown of Dundee, Scotland. On the plane, the Roys learn that a disgruntled former employee of the company is ready to be a whistleblower for the cruises scandal. In Dundee, Shiv confronts Rhea over her opportunistic behavior, accusing her of trying to take over the company. While Logan is away, Marcia passive-aggressively indicates to Rhea that she knows of her affair with Logan. During a family meeting, Shiv enlists the aid of her siblings to sabotage Rhea's image to Logan in various ways. While touring a state-of-the-art news building dedicated to Logan, Kendall admits to Rhea that he isn't genuinely working against her. Rhea suggests that Kendall is Logan's most likely successor at the company. Ewan arrives in Dundee, and gives Greg an ultimatum: either quit working for Logan, or lose Ewan's $250 million inheritance. Shiv struggles to convince her brothers to work with her against Rhea, as none of them seem to have as much of a problem with her. Rhea has arranged an elaborate gala celebrating Logan's 50 years at the company, having invited hundreds of guests, well beyond Logan's expectations. Logan and Shiv agree to a "truce" for the night. Shiv meets with Gerri, Hugo, Cyd, Frank and Karolina, who inform her that the company whistleblower is refusing even the quadrupled settlement of $20 million to withdraw his statement. Shiv decides not to concern her father with the details of the scandal during his celebration. During speeches for Logan, Kendall surprises the audience with a rap performance. Roman and Eduard Asgarov tell Logan they have purchased the Hearts football club as a gift, only to be reminded that Logan in fact supports the rival Hibs. Shiv realizes that Rhea will have to bear the brunt of the cruises scandal if she were placed in charge of the company, and gives Logan her approval to name Rhea as his successor. Logan makes the announcement during his speech. Marcia, upset with how Logan has treated her, leaves the event. As Logan prepares to unveil his plaque commemorating his 50 years at the company, Ewan confronts his brother, warning him that he will face a reckoning for his actions. ===== At Logan's apartment, the Roys watch a televised interview with the whistleblower in the Brightstar Cruises sexual misconduct scandal. The employee names the late Lester McClintock personally responsible for most of the misconduct, but implicates Gerri, Tom and Kendall in helping cover it up. The interview also discusses the company's "No Real Person Involved" (NRPI) cases, in which the victims were sex workers or migrant workers at foreign ports, which the company used to clear itself of any legal liability. Roman agrees to help the company survive financially by securing funding from Eduard Asgarov's family, and Rhea arrives to aid the company's plans. The Roys plan to use Bill Lockheart, Tom's predecessor who initially oversaw the cruises documents, as a scapegoat, but are surprised to find him in the Senate building the following morning. Bill subtly suggests that he is there to ensure his own survival of the scandal. Logan, Kendall and the others strategize from within a boardroom, while Tom is the first to be called to testify alongside Gerri. Tom flubs his responses to Senator Gil Eavis' aggressive questioning, at one point even claiming not to know who Greg is. He returns from his testimony in a panic, accusing Shiv and the others of using him as a "patsy". Meanwhile, Roman travels with Karl and Laird to consult Eduard's help. He and Eduard half-heartedly continue their duties as owners of the Heart of Midlothian football club, and Eduard invites Roman and the others to Turkey to make their investment proposal to Eduard's father. In Turkey, as Roman is in the middle of a sales pitch, he and the others are ushered into a hotel lobby by anti-corruption militia forces, and held there as hostages for 24 hours while Roman manages to secure something of an agreement with Eduard. Shiv meets with Gil and Nate privately, where she learns that they have a witness who is ready to testify against the Roys. Logan sends Shiv and Rhea to meet with the witness while he and Kendall take the stand. Logan also stumbles through his responses to Eavis' questions, but deflects the blame onto Kendall, who nonetheless provides a strong and confident rebuke to Eavis and accuses him of operating on personal bias against Logan and his company. Shiv and Rhea track down Kira, the witness, to a playground where she plays with her daughter. Rhea is uncomfortable coercing a sexual assault victim into silence, so Shiv meets with the woman alone. Shiv candidly tells Kira that she and the company cannot be trusted, but asks her whether her personal courage in coming out as a witness against the Roys is worth the lifetime of public scrutiny that will follow her if she chooses to go through with her statement. She offers Kira a hefty settlement as well as a promise that she will work to ensure that those involved in the crimes will see justice. Kira agrees to back down, and Shiv wins the approval of her father for helping them win the case. After the trial, Rhea, disturbed by the lengths Logan is willing to go to protect his empire, tells him she no longer wants to be associated with the company, and abdicates her CEO title before walking away. Logan watches Kendall's testimony with Shiv and worries that his son's combative stance against Congress will hurt Waystar's relationship with its shareholders. He tells Shiv that if they really want the company to survive, they will need to make a "blood sacrifice". ===== Logan throws a party at his apartment to maintain healthy relations with his wider circle amidst the Brightstar Cruises sexual misconduct scandal. Frank and Gerri call Logan, Kendall and Roman upstairs to discuss strategies to keep Waystar's shareholders on their side amid both the looming cruises scandal and Sandy and Stewy's takeover bid. They decide to fly to London to meet overseas shareholders, including Logan's second wife Caroline, who owns 3% of the company's shares. Roman informs Shiv that she has been sidelined from the discussion. The next day at work, Tom is interviewed in an internal investigation regarding the cruises incidents, and is surprised to receive pointed and hard-hitting questions, contrary to what he was led to believe. Shiv assures Tom that his job is safe and decides to fly to London to confront her father. Tom, meanwhile, confronts Greg, who had kept copies of the documents pertaining to the scandal, and demands they be destroyed. However, while burning the copies that night, Greg discreetly recovers some of the pages. In London, Kendall and Roman are surprised to see that Logan has invited Rhea along to aid their efforts on account of her strategic mind and business savvy. Logan and Rhea later spend the night together. Kendall continues his relationship with Naomi Pierce. Stewy and Sandy have begun running smears on Logan invoking the death of Andrew Dodds, suggesting that it was a suicide triggered by Logan's mistreatment of his staff. Logan asks Kendall, still reeling from the accident, to join him in meeting Dodds' family, and has Roman talk to his mother. Shiv arrives in London and has lunch with Rhea, who offers her own former position as CEO of PGM to Shiv. Shiv senses that this is a ploy concocted by Logan. Meanwhile, Kendall and Logan visit Dodds' family; Kendall is visibly shaken, but Logan tells him the family attributes Andrew's death to his drug problems and don't blame the Roys. Later that night, Kendall secretly delivers cash to the family's mailbox. Shiv and Roman visit their mother and tell her the acceptable range of money Logan is apparently willing to offer to buy her loyalty to the company. Caroline sees through the ruse and demands either the family's summer home in the Hamptons, or a simple $20 million on the condition that she sees her children every Christmas, allowing Logan to ultimately choose. Kendall arrives that night and attempts to open up about his guilt over Andrew's death, but Caroline asks to discuss the matter the following morning. However, Kendall wakes up to find that Caroline has already left the house. Shiv confronts Logan over her position at the company. Logan accuses her of conspiring against him, confirming that he orchestrated the meeting with Rhea. The others fly back to New York without Shiv. Logan grows increasingly comfortable with Rhea. Shiv calls Kendall to warn him that Rhea is likely dangerous. ===== Xander DeWitt (Jace Norman) is an inquisitive teenager with a knack for solving mysteries. Two years ago in Cairo, Gabe experienced an accident in which he lost his memory of an entire day. Since that time, he has been afflicted by excruciating headaches. He botches a CIA mission due to one of these headaches, and his status at work falls into jeopardy. Tanya Morozova and her partner Nadia are both KGB agents and members of the Consortium of Ice. The Ice and the Flame are groups of sorcerers seeking to control all 36 hosts, human beings who are possessed by elementals. The Flame seeks to rid the world of all non-magic users, and the Ice wants to preserve the world as it is. Adula Zlata, a Czech college student, is one such host. Tanya tells Andula the truth about her identity, and Andula decides to accept the Ice's offer of protection. Gabe and Josh suspect that Tanya and Nadia are recruiting Andula for the KGB. Jordan Rhemes, a bartender and sorcerer, was in Cairo at the time of Gabe's accident. She informs him that his headaches are related to magic. He interrupted a ritual by Flame Acolytes in which they attempted to create their own host. As a result, the elemental involved in the ritual attached itself to Gabe. The attachment was imperfect, resulting in headaches and seizures. Rhemes refers Gabe to Alestair Winthrop, an MI-6 agent and Ice member. Alestair teaches Gabe basic sorcery and helps him learn to control the elemental. Alestair and Josh begin a physical relationship, despite the fact that same-sex relationships are stigmatized by both Czech society and their own intelligence agencies. Gabe discovers that the Ice is freezing hosts in stasis, preventing them from being used by the Flame while simultaneously imprisoning them. He reveals this information to Tanya; her loyalty to the Ice is shaken. Gabe accidentally uses his new powers to awaken a golem, which begins terrorizing Prague and murdering police officers. Gabe and Tanya work together to subdue the golem, leading to a tenuous alliance. The CIA plans Operation Anchises, in which they will extract a Russian scientist and defector named Sokolov when he attends a scientific conference in Prague. They call in Dominic "Dom" Alvarez from Langley, Virginia to assist with the operation. Gabe uses magic to start a brawl at the conference. Josh and Alvarez extract Sokolov during the chaos and take him to a safe house. He is arrested in China when marijuana is discovered in his luggage. Randy is imprisoned where he witnesses the practice of summary execution, and is subjected to re-education through labor, torture, and Communist Party re- education. During a Crimson Dawn rehearsal, the band is visited by a music producer who wants to make a biographical film of the band, as traditional music resources such as albums and tours are no longer profitable. Stan, who desperately wants to leave his farm home, is thrilled. When the film's structure is discussed, the bandmates learn that certain aspects of their lives will have to be edited out in order to make the film marketable in China due to their censorship of the media. In prison, Randy meets fellow prisoners Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, who are there because they were banned in China after Internet memes comparing Xi Jinping to Disney's version of Pooh became popular. When Randy is brought before a court, he criticizes the Chinese government for the way it treats its prisoners, accusing them of lacking "tegridy" (his term for integrity). When Mickey Mouse learns of Randy's criticism, he angrily confronts Randy over the Chinese business he is losing because of it, but Randy holds firm on his beliefs that business should not be conducted on the basis of intimidation, and expresses his marijuana import idea to him. When Mickey and Randy make their case to the Chinese officials, their offer is rejected, which Mickey attributes to the Winnie the Pooh matter. Randy responds by using honey to lure Pooh to a secluded alley and strangling him to death as Piglet watches in horror. During filming on the Crimson Dawn movie, the censorship continues to the point that Chinese officials are on set to approve its content. The producer asks Stan to rewrite the script "from his heart", but Stan is frustrated by a Chinese censor standing over his shoulder as he writes in his bedroom, erasing passages he disapproves of. Later with his bandmates, Stan realizes that the only film that will even be accepted in China is something "vanilla and cheesy". Stan's best friend, Kyle Broflovski, disembarks from a bus with Eric Cartman following their stay in an ICE detention center in the previous episode. The friends' reunion inspires Stan to reform his previous band Fingerbang for a new biopic, but he changes his mind during filming, saying that no matter how badly he wishes to leave the farm, he cannot bring himself to compromise for China, and commenting that anyone who does is worthless. Meanwhile, Tegridy Weed has become legal in China. As a dump truck unloads a load of cash at the farm during a family meal, Stan asks Randy why he is covered in honey and blood. When Randy admits that he murdered Pooh, Stan calmly leaves the table to write another song about his father. ===== A beautiful actress struggles to connect with her disfigured co-star on the set of a European auteur's English-language debut. ===== After a year in hiding, Win contacts Myron to say he has located Patrick Moore, now 16, one of two boys kidnapped ten years ago from the home of Brooke Baldwin, Win's cousin.
