He is awarded a gallantry medal a year later, for solving various cases. The following night, Prasad, an Inspector, is grotesquely murdered by an unnamed killer who leaves a note challenging Aditya to catch him. Aditya suspects Apoorva, an aspiring crime novelist who he met the previous night, to have some link with the killer as she was in contact with Prasad. However, Apoorva only met Prasad for her research, during which she overhears Prasad telling a realtor named Mallik that their lives are under threat. Meanwhile, the killer calls Aditya, challenging him to prevent four more murders, failing which he shall give up his medals and resign. Aditya accepts the challenge. On deducing that the killer's name starts with "V", Aditya arrests a person Vicky, based on the history between him and Prasad. Vicky tells Aditya about a man who enquired about Prasad and Mallik. On knowing Mallik could be the next target, Aditya rushes to save him, only to see that he is already killed. Killer this time leaves a clue hinting next location of the target. Aditya and Apoorva crack the clue and Aditya heads to Mumbai. There, the killer escapes narrowly, upon killing his target. He later sends Aditya an image of Aditya's school days, which makes Aditya suspect Vishnu, his fellow schoolmate, and a popular student-athlete. He learns from his school in Vizag that Vishnu is an ex-Army soldier with an impeccable record of eliminating terrorists. Aditya visits a colleague of Vishnu who tells their past. Vishnu loved and married Saheba, who he met when he was off-duty. However, when Saheba is pregnant, Vishnu unable to get leave to visit her was forced to attend his duty in Kashmir. When Vishnu and his colleague are off to a mission, the bus they travel is bombed, falling into an adjacent river. Vishnu is last seen being washed away. Saheba too is killed in the communal riots which Aditya handled but there is no record of Saheba's death. Confused Aditya upon investigation, learns that Saheba was last seen going to a jewelry shop to buy a gift for Vishnu who was supposed to return soon. Aditya tries to retrieve the shop's CCTV footage, but it's missing. Aditya suspects the manager and asks his team to follow him. And they trace out a lady who reveals them the conspiracy behind the riot. The lady ran a Girls hostel but she would pimp the girls, often by force. One night, a girl films her friend being raped and takes the video to a local don whom she believes would help him. But that don finds an opportunity to blackmail the Home Minister, whose son was among the rapists. The riots were conspired by the minister to kill the don and retrieve the video. Aditya, who learns that people who are involved in the conspiracy are being killed, fails to protect the fourth target as well. The final target of the killer, the home minister's son, Ranjith is in Thailand. Aditya travels to Thailand to save Ranjith, but Ranjith is beheaded by Vishnu who leaves a note reading he shall meet soon. Later, Aditya resigns from his job accepting his defeat. The police save their face by blaming and killing an innocent pickpocketer named Vamsi and the case is closed. Days later, Vishnu and Aditya meet where Aditya reveals that he indeed helped Vishnu by killing the guards of Ranjith, thus isolating him to be killed by Vishnu. He does so because his team is infiltrated on instruction to kill both Vishnu and Aditya. Vishnu tells Aditya that Saheba on the day of riots tried to save the girl with the video, only to be murdered by the goons. Vishnu, who was luckily saved after the accident, receives the video recorded and e-mailed by Saheba minutes before she was killed. He then decides to avenge her death. Vishnu initially believed that Aditya was also part of the conspiracy. But upon being impressed by his integrity, Vishnu hands over the video to Aditya, to expose the criminals. Aditya later releases it to the press and regains his reputation. Days later, Apoorva writes a novel about the events, titled Saheba. Vishnu who receives a copy sees that it has been dedicated to "V". ===== ===== ===== Ex cop and armyman Mike Frost, in and out of different jobs for long, is one day met by attractive Marcia Grace, and advised to apply for a lucrative security guard job in Paradise City Las Vegas offered by one of her best friends. A thrilled Frost flies immediately to Las Vegas with his miniature savings and meets with Marcia's friend, who tells him that he will have to guard Italian mafia Carlo Grandi's estate where his daughter Gina has been kept in solitary confinement by her father after a failed kidnap attempt in Italy. He immediately gets to work at the heavily guarded villa, with dogs and electric fences, where he is met with co-guard Jack Marvin, a difficult supervisor Amando and a Japanese cook Suka. Gina takes a liking for Frost and confides in him. Gina is weird, and actually dislikes her father for confining her and wants to escape from the villa. Soon frost meets Marcia again in Vegas and spends time with her. She is revealed to be working for her uncle under duress in Last Vegas, Lu Silk, a professional hitman and criminal. Silk is plotting to kidnap Gina for ransom, along with colleagues Ross Umney and Mitch Goble, and wanted someone to take up the security guard job in the villa and be an inside man for them. Marcia found Frost and convinced him to take up the job for this hidden reason. But ex-cop that he is, Frost is not naive or fooled, and he soon confronts the gang, who tell him that he has the choice to either agree to participate in the kidnapping for 5 million dollars, or to leave Las Vegas immediately since he now knows their intention, with a warning that Silk will kill him if he accepts the offer and then tries to back out or sell the gang out. A greedy Frost takes up the offer, and the gang hatch a plan to carry out the kidnap. Silk obtains records of illegal transactions of Grandi in Italian banks that could land him in jail, and decide to blackmail him along with the kidnap of his daughter, thinking that he will simply pay up and take back his child for fear of going to jail. They decide to split the loot amongst themselves tactfully via documents they would force Grandi to sign, and Frost decides to leave for Switzerland thereafter. As part of plan, they decide to dope Marvin and Amando, neutralize the defences of the villa using Gina (after Frost convinces her to cooperate in her own kidnapping, promising her freedom from her father) and the gang would make away with a cooperative Gina, while Frost will play innocent back home and tactfully convince Grandi to pay up the ransom. The gang manage to carry out the kidnap. Marvin falls for the trick, Suka runs away on hearing of the kidnap, and Amando gets a heart attack and is sent to hospital. But a rude shock sets in when Gina runs away in the city on her own after the kidnap, and it is revealed that Grandi in Italy knew about their plan all along, and that Suka is actually a Japanese electronics and security expert working for Grandi and was secretly watching the others in the villa by posing as a cook. Grandi confronts Frost in Las Vegas, threatening him and the gang with recordings of their conversations by Suka and dire consequences. He tells than that their attempts at blackmail will simply fail, for his contacts are too good in Italy in spite of their so-called evidence, and that they better return his child for a pardon. A helpless Frost and the gang decide to find Gina. Frost eventually finds her in a reefer camp where she has been totally drugged with LSD, and has already committed homicide on a reefer who over-fed her the LSD. Frost then calls the gang and advises them to bury the reefer, and he takes Gina to hospital to meet Grandi. Silk thinks of blackmailing Grandi into paying ransom in return for not implicating Gina in the reefer's homicide. But Frost does not care anymore; he just leaves Gina with Grandi in hospital and quietly goes back to the villa. It is also revealed that Amando, who was actually a psychiatrist monitoring Gina in the Villa, has died in hospital of the heart attack. Doctors declare Gina brain dead with no hope of recovery, and a distraught Grandi himself disconnects her ventilator support. Silk then approaches Grandi, and Grandi offers him two million dollars to kill Frost, as he believes it was Frost who set Gina free from the villa in the first place, leading to her ultimate demise. Umney relays Grandi's intention to Frost, and tells him that Silk will eventually find and kill him. The undaunted Mike Frost decides to fight for life vehemently by killing the gang and returning to where he came from. He goes armed to the hotel where the gang is staying and begins a gunfight, hidden in the bushes outside, killing Umney and Goble. Unfortunately Frost gets shot by Silk from the terrace and dies. But Silk does not savour his victory for long, as on scene appears Suka, who has been given the task of following and eliminating everyone by Grandi; he knifes Silk and drops him down to his death from the terrace. In the end, Grandi decides to go back to Italy with Suka for his daughter's funeral. ===== As described in a film magazine, Caleb Deming (Simpson) always wanted a boy but his son was born paralyzed in his right arm. After being picked up from the streets he is sent to the Soviet operated juvenile detention center known as "the orphanage". Here he is one of five new arrivals, along with 14-year-old Masihullah (Masihullah Feraji) and his 16-year-old nephew Fayez (Ahmad Fayaz Osmani) who are given regular meals, living quarters, a primary education. The audience is introduced to the inner life of the stony faced Qodrat in Bollywood-style dream sequences in which he is free to express his feelings for a girl in class or one of his close pals. Dorm-room power scuffles ensue, sometimes broken up by the director Anwar (Anwar Hashimi), who takes on a father-like role. Some of the boys are taken on an excursion to Moscow where they get to compete in chess with their fellow young comrades. This life is again upturned when teachers struggle to toe the line of the Mujahideen after the Soviets withdraw from Afghanistan. ===== The story takes place in an alternate version of the United Kingdom, where the Ice Age still continues and the human population mainly hibernates in winter. Returning early from hibernation may cause Dead in Sleep from neural collapse, but death during hibernation may also arise from a shortage of fats, low temperature, vermin predation, carbon dioxide build-up, calcitic migration and many other complications. Some people awake with only enough vestigial memory to walk and eat, and became known as "nightwalkers". As the novel opens, people’s survivability during hibernation has dramatically increased after the introduction of Morphenox, a drug produced by HiberTech, a large and powerful "vertically integrated" corporation. HiberTech also "takes care" of nightwalkers, "redeploying" those who are suitable for performing simple tasks and supervising "transplant potential" of others. There is a Winter Consul Service responsible for the safety of dreaming people. The main protagonist, Charlie Worthing, is a novice and this is their first season as Winter Consul. One of the current issues for the Consul Service is an outbreak of viral dreams that is not treated seriously at first, but unexpectedly leads to serious trouble in which Charlie is personally embroiled. The novel is notable because Fforde never uses a gender descriptive pronoun for the protagonist Charlie Worthing, referring to Charlie variously as they/them, I/me, and as simply 'Charlie'. ===== Kate Bradley is a young reporter working on tragic stories, known as the "bummer beat." She lives in New York City. One day, she covers a big fire happening at an abandoned warehouse, and a firefighter rescues her from danger. She runs the story, but her boss reprimands her for putting her life on the line. Kate goes to an event where her father is speaking. He is a politician and from their phone conversation beforehand, it is discovered that Kate has little interest or faith in politics. There, she meets Jack Hansen, a hedge fund manager who asks her out. She turns him down. Kate goes to a staff meeting the next day, and her boss gives her a different kind of story to work on: a woman named Christina found $100,000 in cash in a bag with a sideways eight on it on her front doorstep. She believes a Good Samaritan gave it to her. It had no note attached or anything else there except for the bag of money. Kate goes to interview the woman, and along the way we find out that Kate is cynical and believes the person had an ulterior motive. Christina, however, is an optimist who sees the good in others. Bags of money begin to appear all over New York City, all on a doorstep of someone in need or someone who wants to help out a good cause, most without a note or anything else on them. In the meantime, Kate discovers security camera footage of the man behind the money. She tracks the man who she thinks to be him down and finds out that he is actually Eric, the firefighter that saved her life at the big fire, but he claims he is not Good Sam, the nickname Kate and her boss have given the Good Samaritan. An intern interrupts a meeting one day, telling Kate that a man wants to meet with her, as he claims to be Good Sam. She calls his bluff, however, and he leaves. Kate's boss begins to wonder if the story is worth chasing after all. Jack calls Kate while she is driving home from an interview and convinces her to go out with him. It goes smoothly. Many people have contacted Channel 12, the news channel Kate works for, about her Good Sam story, and one girl's video is aired. Sylvia, the girl in the video, has a mother who is sick and needs help getting money for medicine. Sylvia later receives money from Good Sam, and around this time, Kate begins receiving cryptic messages from an unknown number that tell her to meet up with Sylvia's family, so Kate goes for an interview. In this time, Kate has developed a friendship and romantic interest in Eric. She and Eric begin to hang out, but she is still dating Jack. As Kate fights to keep her story from being taken over by Susan, a more experienced reporter, she receives another cryptic message from an unknown caller I.D., this time telling her to meet up with Good Sam in a parking lot at night, alone and with no camera. There, Kate meets up with a man who claims to be Good Sam. She is shocked to find that Jack exits the car, claiming to be him. Jack eventually agrees to do an exclusive interview with Channel 12 about being Good Sam. In it, Jack tells Kate that he just made a clever investment decision and wanted to do a social experiment with his money to see what others would do with it. The two go out to eat afterwards, but somehow Channel 9 finds them and asks Jack about being Good Sam. His response sounds very similar to the one he gave Kate in their interview. Kate finds this suspicious. Kate begins looking into the footage of interviews, especially her interview with Jack and his response to Channel 9. She discovers that they are word-for-word, and very well-rehearsed ("almost exactly in sync") and when she confronts him about it, he lamely explains that he may have "over-prepared" for his interview. Kate takes Jack to see one of the people he donated money to, but during the interview he changes his story about how he found her. Still suspicious, Kate becomes nerved at his disinterest in her and her story. After going to a dinner party, Kate discovers that Jack is running for Congress. She puts two and two together, realizing he was just using a tactic for his campaign. Kate receives a text from Eric, and goes to his house for dinner. After dinner, Kate notices a photograph of Eric, his brother, Patrick, and a man with a cap covering his face, whom Eric says was a friend of his brother. Eric goes on to explain that he hasn't sailed since his brother died on his boat because he feels responsible for what happened. After further research, Kate discovers that Jack only gave away $100,000 to each of the last four people, meaning someone else was the original Good Sam. The network does more research into the first four candidates, Christina, Marie, Jesse and Faith. It is realised that Jesse is from Maine, Camden Harbour – the same place Eric said he and his brother took their sailboat to see the 'capped' friend from the photograph. Eric was originally thought to be Good Sam, so Kate puts this link together and goes to see Jesse. Kate mentions she saw a picture of a man that looks like Jesse with Eric and Patrick Hayes. Jesse smiles as he recalls times with the Hayes brothers, saying he was Patrick's friend but was basically part of the family – also that he had done the wood work on the brothers' boat, the Crazy Eight – linking it to the image of the sideways number eight on the bags of money. Kate goes on to call the other recipients – Faith used to work with Patrick when she was a paralegal, Christina was the baby sitter of Eric and Patrick, and Marie was Patrick's doctor. Kate realises Eric is the original Good Sam – and goes to see him. He confesses to being Good Sam, saying the money came from the insurance check given to him for the boat from his brother's accident. He felt the accident was his fault, and that he had failed his brother, so he decided to give the money away. He said the recipients were friends of his brothers that all made Patrick's life better, and thought they deserved it more than him. Kate asked him why he didn't just give the money straight to them, and Eric said he thought they would enjoy the money more if they weren't weighed down by where it came from. Kate comforts him and decides to keep his secret, telling him it is no longer about the story. Back at Channel 12, Kate outs Jack and talks about how Good Sam inspired his recipients, Christina having bought her neighbour a car, Marie donating her whole amount to cancer research, Jesse giving a portion of his to a food bank and Faith creating a scholarship for someone in the same position as her. The film concludes with a scene a month later, Kate and Eric are in Central Park, and he gives her a telescope, saying she'll need it when they go sailing. A young adult comes over and asks Kate to thank Good Sam as she and a bunch of other students received a scholarship for college. The scholarships seemingly came out of nowhere and the student is convinced it's Good Sam. Knowing it isn't him, Kate wants to follow up the story, now knowing how much Good Sam has inspired the city. ===== Soldier of fortune Ali Moyang, leader of a band of Terran treasure hunters in the jungles of the planet Kterem, rescues archaeologist Charles Bertin, whose helicopter had crashed during an aerial survey. Moyang learns Bertin has located the site of the ancient ruins of Zhovacim, the very place he himself had been seeking to loot it of its historical tablets, made of gold. Moreover, the archaeologist has established good relations with the notoriously touchy Kteremian natives. To Moyang, Bertin represents an unprecedented stroke of luck. Bertin, distressed at the thought of the tablets' loss to science, attempts to talk Moyang out of his raid. Failing, he agrees under duress to serve as intermediary between the treasure hunters and the native Kteremians of the village closest to Zhovacim. But he has an ace up his sleeve in his knowledge of Kteremian culture and psychology. The expedition arrives in the village at the time of the annual mating dance, a period in which ethnic identity and pride are at their peak, and strangers or outsiders are regarded as lower creatures. Accordingly, the aliens seize and sacrifice the Terrans, sparing Bertin only because they know him. The archeologist confesses to Moyang just before the latter is butchered that he couldn't be certain he himself would be spared, but deemed it worth risking his own life to preserve the wonders of Zhovacim. ===== Football scout Oliver Grogan is looking for recruits for the Chicago Wolves, but his efforts are unsuccessful. The Cohort, a fascist organization that aim to discredit and destroy Downworlders, begin taking over the Clave. They nominate Horace Dearborn to replace Robert as the new Inquisitor. Julian Blackthorn confesses to Magnus Bane that his parabatai bond with Emma Carstairs has been changed by their love, asking him to put a spell that dampens his feelings. During the funeral, Emma meets with her distant cousin, Jem, telling her about Kit Herondale's fey heritage as well as a warlock sickness supposedly caused by ley lines. Before leaving, he gives her a ring which will alert his wife, Tessa Gray, to her location. Horace states his plans to interrogate all Downworlders and bars Emma and Julian from leaving with the other Blackthorns back to Los Angeles. He gives them a mission to go to Faerie, kill Annabel Blackthorn, and retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. When the two arrive at Faerie, they realize that Horace never intended them to survive and has sent Dane Larkspear to kill them. Julian kills him before Seelie faeries, including Nene, appear to take them to the Seelie Court. There, Julian gives the Seelie Queen a copy of the Black Volume in return for the information on how to break the parabatai bond: by cutting the original bond in Silent City with the Mortal Sword, which will break all bonds in the world. At the Scholomanche, Diego Rosales attempts to hide Kieran from the Cohort. He saves Kieran when he is about to be thrown into the Pool of Reflection, in the process knocking Dane's sister, Samantha, towards the pool, where she is tortured to insanity. The two are imprisoned and learn about Emma's and Julian's mission. Diego convinces Kieran to escape using his fey steed while he remains behind. Kieran heads to Los Angeles and saves Cristina Rosales and Mark Blackthorn as they are attacked by faeries while investigating a ley line. Learning about the mission, Cristina, Mark, and Kieran call in Jaime Rosales to give them the Eternidad so they can go to Faerie. The trio are forced to join the revels of Kieran's brother Oban, who is working with a Cohort member, Manuel Villalobos. Cristina manages to escape with the Eternidad and requests for Adaon's help. Horace calls the Clave several times to vote on a Downworlder registry. After being informed of what befell the Larkspear siblings, the Clave vote to create the registry. Diana Wrayburn demands Gwyn ap Nudd to take her back to Los Angeles. Briefly captured, she is able to break free from Horace before leaving with Gwyn. However, in the process, the Consul, Jia Penhallow is imprisoned. Nene offers Emma and Julian the chance to replace her and another sympathetic faerie's positions to accompany the Seelie Queen during her parley with the Unseelie King to regain her son, Ash. Infiltrating the Unseelie Tower, they confront Annabel and the King, Arawn, revealed to be subjecting Ash to spells from the Black Volume, causing him to attract people to care for him. He plans to use Ash to conquer the Seelie Court and wipe all Shadowhunters. After a brief encounter with Ash, Emma and Julian are thrown to the dungeons and reunite with Clary Fairchild and Jace Herondale. The four are freed by Cristina and Adaon, who fakes them as his prisoners to Arawn's court so they can rescue Mark and Kieran. Arawn has opened a portal to a place called Thule, which he uses to power up Ash. A heated confrontation ensues with a vengeful Julian attacking Annabel and Arawn attempting to have Ash execute Kieran before the Seelie Queen appears to claim her son, revealing that she and Arawn used to have a daughter, the First Heir, whom he killed. In the confusion, Annabel takes Ash through the portal to Thule, while Kieran manages to kill Arawn when he is about to make a move on Adaon. While the Seelie Queen leaves with Adaon, Emma and Julian attempt to leave with the others as the Riders of Mannan hunt them, but fail and decide to enter Thule. Upon arrival, Emma and Julian learn that Thule is an alternate universe set two years into the future. In this reality, Clary was killed during the Battle of the Burren, allowing Sebastian Morgenstern, with Jace's and the Endarkened's help, to conquer the world, causing lands to decay in a phenomenon known as Blight, which serves as portals for demons to cross over. Shadowhunters have lost their angelic power and split between the many siding with Sebastian and calling themselves the Legion of the Star, and those striving for freedom with the Downworlders, known as the Resistance. To their shock, the Resistance is led by Livvy, who is still alive in Thule. Though at first skeptical, Livvy eventually warms up to Emma and Julian and reveals that their versions in Thule have been Endarkened. Emma breaks her ring to call for Tessa's help and to her surprise gets a response. She and Julian meet with alternate Tessa, the world's last warlock as all others have died of warlock sickness caused by the Blight. While the Shadowhunters of Thule have failed to kill Sebastian with the Mortal Sword—which still exists in Thule—she believes that the two, who are not of this world, may be able to bring him down. She also informs them that Blight can be neutralized with waters from Lake Lyn. Emma and Julian briefly confront Annabel, who promises them a portal for them to go home, but they will have to take Ash with them. Emma, Julian, and the Resistance head to Silent City, where the Mortal Sword is located, and manage to retrieve it before the Legion ambush them. Tessa sacrifices herself to give Emma time to kill Sebastian with the Sword, aided by Ash, who flies away with Jace using his wings. After she opens the portal, Julian avenges Livvy by killing Annabel, before taking off with Emma back to their reality. Back home, Emma tells the others the solution the alternate Tessa told her about the Blight. The group work with the Wild Hunt to get the waters. Horace announces the deaths of Clary and Jace to manipulate his supporters as he is about to parley with Oban. Julian has Magnus remove the dampening spell, before calling on a meeting of anti- Registry Shadowhunters and Downworlders to expose the Cohort's lies, under the name "Livia's Watch". Manuel, knowing the truth about Clary and Jace, attempts to assassinate them but is foiled by Julian and taken prisoner. Emma is convinced not to cut the original parabatai bond by Julian. During the confrontation, Dru frees Jia, Diego, and Jaime from imprisonment. Meanwhile, Ty begins a ritual to resurrect Livvy, despite Kit's protests. Regardless, the ritual only manages to bring Livvy as an apparition that only the two can see. Kit discovers that he is a descendant of the First Heir when he manages to incapacitate the Riders of Mannan. It is also revealed that Shade, the warlock who helped Ty find the ingredients for the ritual, is actually Ragnor Fell, Magnus' friend long thought to be dead. In the war's final stages, Zara Dearborn gravely wounds Emma. As Julian cradles her, their parabatai bond is strengthened by their love, transforming them into gigantic monsters that kill Horace and swiftly dispose their enemies. However, they nearly destroy Alicante before the Blackthorns convince them to lay down their arms. When they wake up, they discover that they are no longer parabatai. With Cristina's and Mark's help, Kieran kills Oban and is proclaimed the new Unseelie King, since Adaon relinquishes his birthright. With this status, he is forced to part ways from them just as they realize their love for each other. Kit decides to move in with Tessa and Jem to Devon. Dru overhears Magnus telling Ty about the side effects of Livvy's resurrection spell. During the Clave meeting, the Cohort refuse to surrender, so Alec Lightwood, having been proclaimed as the new Consul after Jia's abdication, leads the anti-Cohort Shadowhunters to leave Idris and never return back. Subsequently, Alec and Magnus hold their wedding in front of the Los Angeles Institute. In the epilogue, the Seelie Queen is visited by the Jace of Thule. Jace promises to hand Ash over in exchange for meeting Clary. ===== As described in a film magazine, Rose Trenton (De La Motte) has mistaken pity for love and become engaged to George Prothero (Moore), a blinded and cynical hero of World War I. Gradually the truth dawns upon her and she faces the task of telling a naturally suspicious and jealous man that she does not love him, and without letting him think that it is because of his eyes that she is breaking their engagement. After hearing of an eye specialist in Paris who could possibly operate and restore George's sight, she writes to him. On the next day she finds that her nerve is strong and tells George of her mistake in promising to marry him. He is hurt, bitter, and seemingly resigned. "I shall go to Europe and forget," he says and goes at once. Two months later, Sandy Sanderson (Graves) returns from the war and Europe. His picture once stood across from George's on Rose's dresser, and he is received with ardent strong feelings by Rose, almost an admission that she loves him. Unexpectedly, the blind man also returns. He and Sandy, old friends, greet each other cordially and chum about together. Then one day they leave on a trip together, and Rose, in fear for some unknown reason, watches for their return. George comes alone, being helped by an unknown man, telling a tale of how Sandy was blackjacked while he, being blind, could not help. At that time, the mail arrives with a letter from Europe which Rose opens automatically and then screams. It details how the French surgeon had restored George's sight weeks before. George reads it and shouts, "It's a lie!" With this absurd denial, Rose sees that the man is not sightless in a physical sense, only morally and mentally. Later, the hand of Fate brings back Sandy, who was not killed but injured, to Rose. ===== The film is divided into four acts: "Shadows", "Horn", "Blood" and "Fire" spelled in the rune alphabet of the Elder Futhark and in the modern Latin alphabet. SHADOWS: A lonely young girl named Albrun lives with her goat- herding mother in the Alps of the 15th century. One night, men disguised in goat skins and horns come to their cottage to bang on their door, call them witches, and say they should be burned. Later, the mother takes ill and is visited by a doctor and nun from a nearby town. They discover she has bulbous growths located below her armpit and, considering her too far gone, they leave. Albrun is left alone to tend to her mother, whose physical and mental condition deteriorates rapidly, culminating in a sexual assault against her daughter. The mother runs out of the cottage into the winter night. In the morning, Albrun finds her mother's lifeless body covered with snakes in the woods. HORN: Fifteen years later, Albrun still lives in the same cottage and is now a new mother to an infant girl. Albrun tends goats in the hills, milking them and sometimes displaying an intimacy with them while she masturbates. Albrun carries goat milk to town to sell but is confronted by some unruly boys who treat her as a pariah, the harassment only interrupted by a passing townswoman, Swinda. Swinda treats Albrun kindly and comes by Albrun's cottage to say that the parson would like to speak to her. They walk to town together. The local church contains an ossuary, its walls lined with skulls and other bones. Albrun meets the parson, who tells her that he came there to bring faith to people like her who have difficult lives. He says, however, that her isolation and estrangement from others leads them to temptation that springs from sacrilege. As he hands Albrun her mother's polished skull, painted with flowers and greenery, he concludes, "To strengthen the faith of a religious community, it requires all sacrilege be cleansed." Albrun takes her mother's skull and places it in a corner of her cottage. She surrounds it with flowers and a candle. When a visiting Swinda notices it, she promptly leaves. In seclusion, Albrun hears voices from the woods, including that of her mother. The strange sounds continue as she masturbates. The next day, her daughter refuses her nipple. Later, Swinda takes her walking in the mountains, but Albrun becomes uneasy when Swinda warns her about "those who don't carry God in their hearts: the Jews and the heathens. They come in the night and like animals they take you, and then some months later you bear a child." On the way down the mountain, Swinda talks a local man into walking with them. After Swinda whispers something to the man, he turns to Albrun and embraces her. Swinda then throws Albrun to the ground and whispers, "It's disgusting how you all smell, your rotten stench." The man then begins raping Albrun as Swinda holds her down. After the rape, she returns home and finds that her goats have all been stolen except for one, which has been butchered and mutilated. That night, Albrun lights a candle and communes with her dead mother's skull. BLOOD: Furious at her mistreatment, Albrun brings a dead rat to the local water source to poison the water and then urinates into it. Later, when Albrun comes to town while holding her child, she sees many dead bodies being transported away. On the way home, she stops in the wood and eats a mushroom, which causes hallucinations and psychosis. In the midst of this, she walks into the stagnant pond with her infant, letting it drown. She sinks under the murky water with her eyes open. FIRE: In her cabin, as Albrun sleeps, a snake travels over her body. She wakes and, ignoring the snake, hears her mother calling her name. She rises and approaches the fireplace, hearing her mother's labored breathing. She discovers the body of her drowned baby daughter, which she carried home with her, and is seized with grief and horror. She then places her dead daughter into the soup that is boiling on the fire and, with shaking hands, eats from it. She soon vomits violently and screams in horror as the mushroom-induced psychosis returns with even more intensity. She sees her mother and hears laughing. The shadows on the walls seem to move menacingly, causing her to flee the cottage. In the dusky morning light, now with opaque eyes, Albrun lies down and dies on the scenic mountaintop. Her body combusts with the rising sun. ===== Jonathan Peale, a renegade Nazi spy, is aboard a Rangoon-bound train, carrying a map containing the locations of China's main munitions dumps. As the novel progresses the lives of these people converge in unexpected ways. In a prologue, Pollock introduces the protagonist, Arvin, as a young boy. He sits in a clearing with his father, Willard, on an oak log, joining him in his evening prayer routine. Willard is borderline obsessive when it comes to prayer and expects the same from his son. While Arvin prays, however, his mind wanders and feelings of isolation bubble to the surface. Feeling like an outsider at school, he is the victim of relentless bullying. Arvin recalls his father telling him to stand up for himself, but this is easier said than done. The rest of the book is divided into seven parts. Part One, "Sacrifice," begins in 1945, before the prologue. Willard is a young single man who has just been discharged from combat duty after the end of World War II. As he sits on a bus headed to his home in Coal Creek, West Virginia, he recalls the horrifying things he saw and did during the war. One memory haunts him in particular: that of a soldier he comes across who has been skinned and crucified. Willard shoots the man as an act of mercy, putting an end to his suffering. The bus makes a stop at the Wooden Spoon Diner in Meade, Ohio. There, Willard meets and instantly falls in love with a beautiful waitress, Charlotte Willoughby. At home, he is met by his nervous and emotionally- damaged mother, Emma, and her brother, Uncle Earskell. Willard proceeds to get drunk, and his thoughts turn from the horrors of war to the beautiful waitress he just met. He lets it slip to his mother that he has fallen in love, which upsets her because she made a bargain with God that if He let her son live, she would arrange a marriage between Willard and poor Helen Hatton. At church one evening, we meet Brother Roy and Brother Theodore, Roy’s fat and crippled cousin. They preach about letting God cure you of your worst fears and Roy dumps a bin full of spiders on his head, scaring most everyone in the chapel. Helen takes a liking to Roy and they later have a daughter named Lenora. Feeling his connection with God lessen, Roy decides that in order to regain his bond he must crucify something and raise it from the dead. Theodore, who hates Helen for taking Roy’s attention, convinces Roy to kill her for the sacrifice. They take her out to a field and Roy stabs her in the neck with a screwdriver. As expected, Roy is unable to raise her from the dead and they flee the town, leaving Lenora with Emma (Willard's mother). Linking back up with other characters, Willard marries Charlotte and together they have a son whom they name Arvin. As the years pass, Willard becomes obsessed with prayer. The obsession only deepens when Charlotte contracts cancer. Willard's rituals become progressively more bizarre and upsetting, culminating in animal and even human sacrifice. Willard believes these acts of devotion are necessary to save his wife. Nevertheless, in the end, Charlotte still dies, prompting Willard to commit suicide. Traumatized by his parents' deaths and his father's behavior, Arvin lives with his grandmother, Emma. There, he meets Lenora, an orphan girl whom Emma takes in after her mother, Helen, is killed, the prime suspects in everyone’s mind being the traveling preacher named Roy who is also Lenora's father. In Part 2, "On the Hunt," the reader is introduced to Carl and Sandy Henderson, a pair of murderous lowlifes living in Meade who entertain themselves by picking up male hitchhikers and killing them. Their reign of terror is allowed to persist in part because Sandy's brother, Sheriff Bodecker, is corrupt and incompetent. An unemployed photographer, Carl takes pictures of his victims, calling them models. In one exceedingly depraved image, Carl takes a photograph of Sandy holding the severed head of one of their victims in her arms as if it were a baby. It is Carl's favorite photo. In Part 3, "Orphans and Ghosts," Arvin and Lenora grow up and become very close. Arvin gets his father's gun on his 15th birthday and immediately is drawn to it. When Lenora is bullied at school, Arvin comes to her defense, fighting the bullies in a very brutal and malicious way. His great uncle decides it’s best to put the gun away for a little while. The book also repeatedly drops in on Carl and Sandy. Part 4, "Winter," focuses largely on Carl and Sandy's murderous exploits. In Part 5, "Preacher," we learn more about Roy, the traveling preacher who killed Lenora's mother. Roy lives with his physically disabled cousin, Theodore. After moving on from the Coal Creek Church of the Holy Ghost Sanctified, Roy is replaced by a new preacher, Pastor Teagardin, who lives with his much younger wife, Cynthia. Lenora believes Teagardin to be an exceptionally holy man, but Arvin has his doubts. These suspicions are validated when the reader learns of Teagardin's seduction and sexual corruption of Cynthia. Teagardin then successfully seduces Lenora, getting the young girl pregnant. When Lenora confronts Teagardin about the pregnancy he denies his part in it, asking her who the townsfolk would believe: her, or their Preacher? With seemingly nowhere else to turn, Lenora commits suicide. Furious after putting the pieces of the story together, Arvin shoots Teagardin dead and flees Coal Creek. After Part 6, "Serpents," which follows more of Carl's and Sandy's depraved, murderous rampage, the storylines of the major characters converge in the final section, titled "Ohio." In the wake of Theodore's death, a repentant Roy returns to Appalachia to track down and apologize to Lenora, who has since died. Unfortunately, he encounters Carl and Sandy who make Roy their latest victim. Later, Carl and Sandy happen to pick up Arvin, but after they attack him, Arvin gets the upper hand and shoots both of them dead. Sandy's brother, Sheriff Bodecker, pursues Arvin, and they end up in a standoff in the same clearing where Willard performed sacrifices. Arvin kills Bodecker and walks down the highway, full of hope for the first time in a long while. ===== The game begins with Ryan Marks being interrogated by an agent named Carson, who explains his current situation. During the interrogation, flashbacks show the events that happened up until the interrogation. Ryan infiltrates a compound and rescues fellow soldier, Deacon and both escape the compound before Ryan is informed that his father had died from a heart attack. Ryan is sent back home in London and is picked up by his brother Nick from the airport. After the funeral, Ryan meets with his mother Anne, but then they are interrupted by gunfire, the family is then confronted by Tony Sharp, a London crime boss, Kayla, a woman who supposedly works for Tony and kills one of Anne's bodyguards and Tony's brother Keach. The family is held at gunpoint by Keach, but Keach is fooled by Nick into thinking that the gun's safety is on. At this moment, Michelle and Nick takedown Keach and knock him out, the family then flees to their hidden safe house. The family then discovers that Tony will be at his private casino and Ryan volunteers to infiltrate the casino and kill Tony, although Anne is reluctant to the plan. Ryan successfully infiltrates the casino but discovers that Tony is not in the building and is at his art gallery, but Keach still remains and tracks him down to a hotel room. After rigging the casino with bombs, Ryan confronts Keach and chases him through the building. Once he stops Keach, Ryan questions him on where Tony is, but Keach doesn't know where he is. Keach is either killed by Ryan or is suddenly killed by an armored guard and Ryan is able to escape and blow up the casino with the bombs he had rigged. Ryan disguises himself and enters the art gallery during the day and discovers a private room that might contain information. Ryan and Nick then sneak into the gallery at night and vandalize most of the exhibits. The brothers are also able to find documents that all link back to Falstead Airfield. After returning to the safe house, Tony calls the brothers along with Michelle to inform them that he has captured Anne and has held her in Freeson Towers, a building that is due for demolition. The siblings work together to rescue Anne and Ryan is able to escape the demolition, however, Anne is then killed by Kayla, Michelle and Ryan are presumably arrested by the police while Nick goes off to hunt Tony. Back in the interrogation room, Ryan realizes that Carson is trying to recruit him into taking down Tony, to which Ryan agrees to help him while also guaranteeing Michelle's safety. Carson also reveals that there is a secret organization that is helping Tony. Ryan infiltrates Falstead Airfield-hoping to find Nick-and discovers how the organization works. They sell black market materials and Carson explains that the organization uses the money to control society from the shadows. Ryan then escapes the Airfield. Carson is able to track down where the materials are coming from and sends Deacon to the safehouse and the two form a plan to infiltrate the source and plant a trojan into the systems. The plan goes well until Ryan is knocked out by gas and is captured by Tony and Kalya who reveal that they have also killed Nick. Although Tony orders Kayla to stay in the room with a tied up Ryan-as Tony goes to find Michelle-Kayla abandons Tony and reveals she is working for the organization and reveals that Ryans dad was originally going to work with the organization, but because he had died, they were reluctantly forced to work with Tony and finally reveals that she knows Carson and asks Ryan to tell him 'Amanda says hi'. Ryan escapes his captivity with help from Deacon and Ryan infiltrates Tony's tower alone. But when he confronts him, Tony reveals that he is hiding behind bulletproof glass and escapes, with Ryan following him. With help from Michelle, Ryan is able to chase Tony to his private plane and jumps aboard mid-flight. On the plane, Carson tells Ryan that there is a bomb on the plane that is set to explode, Ryan confronts Tony and has the choice to kill Tony or listen to Tony as he recounts a childhood story. Either way, the plane explodes with Tony inside of it and Ryan is thrown out of the plane but survives thanks to a parachute he had found earlier in the plane. Moments later, Carson explains to Ryan that Kayla's real name is Amanda Kincaide and that she was a respected CIA operative, but then she disappeared to work with the organization. Ryan and Carson then agree to go after the organization. ===== ===== ===== ===== Legion of Super- Heroes Volume I features game statistics and background information for all the major characters of the Legion of Super-Heroes. ===== The episode begins with a flashback in a bar in winter where a German police officer demands the Sea Captain and his wife hand over the second half of a treasure map in his possession. Instead, the couple spit vodka into a candle, blinding his fellow guards and starting a fire. Escaping with both halves of the map, the couple head to Springfield in search of the treasure. Forty years later having destroyed his marriage over the search, the Sea Captain finally finds the treasure, but Mayor Quimby confiscates it saying that it now belongs to the town as it was found within the city limits, which have been redrawn after being warned by the frustrated wife the previous night. With the town unsure of what to do with the money, Marge suggests they build a STEM school to teach children science, technology, engineering, and math to succeed in the future. The residents are initially dismissive of the prospect, but with John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen's help, they are encouraged to agree to the idea. At the new STEM school, run by CEO Zane Furlong, Bart enjoys his new video game-infused education, which allows him to collect badges and skins for his profile, while Lisa is accepted into a gifted class which teaches her about science, coding, math and neural networks. She also learns the school is run by an algorithm to determine the best education for the kids. At a career day meeting at the school, Homer speaks about his job at safety inspector at the nuclear power plant. However, Furlong disparages this as one of several jobs that will be rendered obsolete within a few months, being taken over by automated machines. At the plant, his fears seem confirmed when an automated soda machine which efficiently mixes drinks and flavors is installed in the break room. Homer, seeking to prove that humans can mix drinks better than machines, engages in a stand-off with the soda machine, constantly mixing drinks for hours for the other employees until he collapses from exhaustion and drinking too much soda. Recovering from the fall, Homer feels relief that his job will not be taken over by robots for the moment, unaware that Mr. Burns is beginning a trial run with automated machines in the workplace. Meanwhile, Lisa discovers that the kids outside of her gifted class are only being trained to do menial jobs in the present day. She attempts to warn the other kids, but Bart convinces them to embrace their education and career prospects. Frustrated at this, Lisa tries to rewrite the algorithm to ensure the other kids have real STEM education, but Bart stops her. They fight until Furlong stops them, and tries to use the algorithm to determine the jobs of the future. To the three's horror, the algorithm can only find one job - caring for senior citizens (with STEM actually standing for Sponge-bathing Toileting Elderly Massage). Bart and Lisa warn the kids through the video PA system and the horrified students proceed to negatively rate the algorithm, causing the server to explode and destroy the school. As Bart and Lisa mope over their worthless future, Homer comforts a saddened Marge, assuring her she will find another way to provide education to the town. In the tag scene, Furlong, now working as a food delivery driver, visits the Simpsons, delivering hot wings and celery sticks for Homer. When Bart and Lisa ask him what the jobs in the future will be now that the STEM school has been destroyed, he responds that technology is changing and could bring about positive prospects. However, in a vision of the future, sentient soda machines have taken over the planet, forcing residents like adult Bart and Lisa to work as slave bartenders while others like Carl fly around space in luxury cruisers. ===== A wild horse and a teenage girl forge an unbreakable bond which keeps them connected for a lifetime. ===== Outside of Shanghai, famous war correspondent Franklyn Bennett (Ralph Graves), part of an unofficial branch of the U.S. military, broadcasts over the radio an eyewitness report of an air battle won by China's ace, "General Ching," flying for the nationalist forces of Wu Sun (Victor Wong). Katie is working nightshifts at a diner while Adam is studying. One night, they are making out in their car during Katie's break. They go back into the diner to find an armed robber threatening the staff. Adam sneaks up on the robber and knocks him out. He is hailed a hero while the robber goes to jail. Four months later, Katie is working as a caregiver for Leonard, an elderly wealthy man who grows close to her. Adam has quit college and is trying to find a job that pays well so they can pay off their debt. Leonard tells Katie he keeps hearing noises in his house during the night. One day, Katie tells Leonard about her financial struggles. Leonard insists on helping her out with money, but Katie asks him to give Adam a job as his gardener instead, which he does. The garden has been a mess since the last gardener stopped showing up one day. An insistent real estate agent, Hayden, appears and asks if he can buy the house. Katie refuses. Unbeknownst to Katie and Adam, Hayden starts to observe them on a regular basis. Soon after, Leonard writes Katie a $7,000 check. Katie does not want to accept it, but Adam convinces her to use the check to pay the bills that are due and pay the rest back to Leonard. The next day, they arrive at Leonard's home to find him dead, leaving Katie devastated. The couple also finds a trunk full of cash. Adam wants to take the money and Katie reluctantly agrees so they can pay off their debt. They inform the police of Leonard's death and are questioned by detective Chesler. When Adam goes back to the house to obtain the money, a mysterious intruder knocks him out, but doesn't find the cash. They decide to put it in a safety deposit box. At Leonard's funeral they meet his attorney, Julia, who tells them about his will. Katie has been left everything, and the couple subsequently moves into the house. While Katie is reluctant to accept the inheritance and is worried someone might find out about the money they hid, Adam becomes increasingly greedy. He dreams of expensive vacations as well as luxury items and contemplates dodging the death tax. Hayden reappears and threatens Katie, insisting that he must buy the house. She harshly refuses. As Adam comes back he tells her that he believes he is being followed, Katie realizes that Hayden is after them. Detective Chesler becomes suspicious of Adam and starts to investigate the circumstances surrounding Leonard’s death and the robbery at the diner. While exploring the living space above the garage, Katie finds a body with uncashed checks written to Leonard's previous gardener, Ethan Doyle, who apparently died from a gunshot wound several months ago. She also finds a bag of diamonds on the body. Katie wants to call Detective Chesler, but Adam convinces her to keep the diamonds. He dumps the body and burns all evidence of Ethan's existence. Detective Chesler suggests to Katie the possibility that Adam and the shooter at the diner knew each other, since he worked at the university Adam was attending. Katie becomes increasingly suspicious of Adam, especially after finding an empty bottle of pills that wasn't accounted for in the logbook of Leonard’s medications. She meets with Julia to discuss a course of action. Julia warns Katie about Adam betraying her and says the police are about to obtain a search warrant on her house. When they inspect the safety deposit box, the money is gone. Julia suspects that Adam took it and is planning to run away, leaving Katie as a suspect in Leonard's death. She tells Katie to get him to the house and call her. When Katie confronts Adam about the money, he tells her he found out that Hayden is actually a jewel thief who was recently released from prison, and not the real estate agent he portrayed himself to be. They realize that Ethan was Hayden’s partner in crime and Hayden killed him to get his share of the diamonds. Ethan, mortally wounded, fled to Leonard’s house where he died. Hayden knows the diamonds are hidden somewhere in the house and is eager to find them. Adam convinces Katie that they must leave. Katie agrees. While Adam is getting ready, Katie calls Julia to tell her Adam wasn't planning on leaving her. Her call is interrupted when Hayden shows up and holds Katie at gunpoint, asking for the diamonds. Hayden and Adam exchange gunfire and both are killed. Katie rushes to Adam's side, the last thing he says to her is "in the garden" before he dies of his wounds. Suddenly, Julia arrives. Katie tells her that Hayden was the one who killed Leonard, giving him an overdose of his medication. She also tells her that Leonard claimed he heard someone in the house at night, who must have been Hayden breaking in and searching for the diamonds. Julia reaches for Hayden's gun and holds Katie at gunpoint, revealing that she is part of the plot. She had met Hayden during her public defender duties and orchestrated everything, including Leonard’s forged last will, to get a share of the diamonds. She demands the diamonds but Katie tells her Adam hid them somewhere and she doesn't know the location. Detective Chesler arrives in time and shoots Julia. Four months later, Katie is shown to be pregnant and gardening outside. Chesler tells her that the case is closed and that Adam would be kept off of the list of suspects, keeping his reputation and memory intact. Chesler talks about how they searched the house top to bottom for the diamonds but never found anything. Once more, Katie tells her that she still has no idea where the diamonds are. In the last shot, Katie turns the sprinklers on and leaves the garden. The water moves the soil aside and the diamonds are shown to be buried under a tree, making sense of Adam's dying words. ===== Two young people, Apurba (Pujja Cherry Roy) and Joy (Adrit Roy), long for each other after they meet and fall deeply in love in college. The film shows the three theories trying to explain the death or disappearance of Subhas Chandra Bose. The film starts with Subhash Chandra Bose at the Congress Conference. A courageous Subhash disagrees to follow the nonviolent methods of Gandhi and resigns from INC. He then travels the world disguised himself to make allies while confronting the British Army. In 2003, journalist Chandrachur Dhar(Anirban Bhattacharya) is given an assignment for sending reports on Subhash Chandra Bose Death mystery. He takes up the assignment and spends months to gather evidence and knowledge about Bose. His neglecting attitude towards his wife(Tanusree Chakraborty) compelled her to divorce him. Mentally frustrated Dhar quits his job and forms a group entirely dedicated to the purpose for solving the mystery. At the 2005 Mukherjee Commission he addresses the jury in a bold manner dedicated to bring the truth to the world. According to him, there was no plane crash at all in 1945. Bose had preplanned to fake his death to the world and asked his most trustworthy soldier of INA Habibur Rehman to be with him and not to disclose his fake death to anyone. To support his statement he showed numerous evidence like why he went to a six seater fighter plane when there was already 12-seater plane at that time, like there was no recorded plane crash that year, there was no news of death of the Japanese soldiers. After the judge was convinced that there was no plane crash on the stipulated date but asked where could he have possibly gone. Then he propagated the Siberia journey which was not the case. He lived as an ascetic in Uttar Pradesh without revealing his identity or face, the masses who visited him just used to hear his voice. A few people recognised him as soon as they heard his voice. However, they never revealed it to any third person. Even his close colleague and revolutionary, Leela Roy, and her husband recognised him when they visited him and sent letters. It revealed that the family members knew quite well about the fact that he was there alive. Numerous pieces of evidence were lying with them. Local P.D soon came to know but they could not track him. Gumnaami Baba lived long and died on 1985 one morning. Their disciples regretted as they felt that there should have been more than 13 lakh people should present at the funeral of a national hero, but only 13 disciples were present. The next day, the commission concluded that there was no plane crash and Bose did not die in 1945. However, in 2006, the Government refused to accept the verdict and discarded the report. Angry and frustrated Dhar burns all his work and contemplates the purpose of his hard work of 3 years. His former wife encourages him to fight as Bose did for the country for 30 years. They vowed to keep on fighting till justice is served. This teaches that fighting is more important than victory, and so the fight to do justice to Netaji- by pressuring the government and authorities to bring an end to the mystery -will also go on. In a flashback, Subhas Chandra Bose is seen singing Subh Sukh Chain, the National Anthem of the Provisional Government of Free India, along with the Indian National Army. ===== A Dhaka-based businessman Mahid Sheikh falls for Pujarini, a charming research scholar from Kolkata but dark secrets from Mahid's past threaten to resurface and shatter their peaceful world. ===== Ram is an impulsive youngster but a good samaritan who despite being highly educated refuses to do any menial or low-pay jobs. He sets animal traps in the forest and then goes out onto the lake on his boat. He proclaims that he intends to summon a demon that night, and he will give it whatever it wants. Sean visits his trap, which has caught a possum. He takes the trap home and feeds the possum peanut butter from his knife. That night, he makes a fire and throws petrol on it, calling out to the demon, saying he wants to repent his human form. Upon hearing loud bellowing sounds from the forest, he rushes back inside. There, he lights dozens of candles and reads Latin words from his book of alchemy. The possum, still inside the trap, makes some strange sounds and he kills it with his knife. Cortez arrives and finds the dead possum. He is shocked at the state of the cabin; however as he is on the run, he intends to stay with Sean for a time. Seemingly insane, he drinks chemicals from test tubes and eats the raw internal organs of the dead possum. He realises that his cat is missing and goes out to search for it. Calling for the cat, his voice begins to sound like the howls of the demon. He takes his bag, along with a large rock and submerges himself in the lake. A little later he emerges from the water and, initially ecstatic exclaims that he has defeated the demon. The police are called and Chief Wiggum and Lou investigate, but when the narrator says that the suspicion turned toward the Simpson family, Marge gets angry at the accusations, insisting that whoever stole the money left a drink on the table without a coaster, leaving a ring on the table, which she stresses everyone against leaving with their drinks. A call to the police made by Helen Lovejoy brings Marge to the top of the list of suspects, accusing her of using the money for her gambling problem, though surveillance cameras shows that even though she went to the casino, she resisted the temptation and walked out. The next person on the suspect list is Homer, due to his tab at Moe being cut off. The police speculate that when Homer got drunk, he stumbled home, fell on and ate some spaghetti leftovers, and then upon stumbling on the cleanser cup with the money, used the cleanser to clean the kitchen and used the money to pay the tab. With the ruse of granting admission to a Super Bowl viewing party in exchange for a pair of pants, the cops retrieve Homer's pants, but find no evidence of money on them. Dateline: Springfield looks at Mr. Burns next, but with him being a billionaire, $600 would have been nothing. Next, Moe accuses Homer directly, but the police find out Homer has an alibi: he had made a six- hour call that night to Disco Stu by mistake; and had cleaned the kitchen without the cleanser by licking it in the process. The next suspect is Bart, who is accused by Milhouse of buying Slime with the money. Bart knew of the money under the sink but always paid back what he borrowed. He is then seen as the mastermind behind the production of green Slime (à la Breaking Bad, at Springfield Elementary. But when the market price fell, he sold his remaining inventory of the Slime to Comic Book Guy and put the money back in the can, filming this in case the police wouldn't believe him. The final suspect of the family is Lisa, who is accused by Martin because she wanted a new saxophone. They go to King Toot's Music Store and he shows a tape of Lisa trying out a new bari sax for over 14 hours, but she did not buy it, Krusty the Clown buying it before she got the chance. Lisa's alibi is that Marge took her to a hopscotch tutor, much to Lisa's embarrassment. With all suspects gone, Homer and Marge kick Dateline: Springfield out and force the crew to apologize for their inconvenience, leaving the mystery unsolved. Marge and Homer are seen watching the documentary, and Marge places a snap-on coaster she invented under Homer's drink. When she casually mentions she wants to start a business with the coasters, which cost $0.65 apiece to make, Homer realises that Marge was the culprit, stealing the money to invest in the business and having denied it the entire time. Homer calls the kids downstairs, preparing to tell them the truth, but when Marge compares Homer's visits to Moe's to life adventures and admits she wants something similar for her business, he has a change of heart, covers for Marge and lies to the kids, saying rats ate the money thanks to Grampa leaving the cabinet open, and then goes to the beach and enjoys a stroll with Marge. Meanwhile at the studio, the narrator loses his voice after arguing about the unresolved end of the show, and gets a vocal cord transplant from a sheep. ===== Stealer of Souls is the first part of a two-part adventure in which the player characters help avenge the death of the father of a young woman named Freyda. ===== 5B is the inspirational story of everyday heroes, nurses and caregivers who took extraordinary action to comfort, protect and care for the patients of the first AIDS ward unit in the United States. 5B is stirringly told through first-person testimony of these nurses and caregivers who built Ward 5B in 1983 at San Francisco General Hospital, their patients, loved ones, and staff who volunteered to create care practices based in humanity and holistic well-being during a time of great uncertainty. How does this change his life?https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9760682/ ===== The novel opens as its 9-year-old protagonist, Fernanda 'Nanda' Grey, is on her way to the Roman Catholic Convent of the Five Wounds outside London, where she will live and get her schooling until she is forced out at the age of 13. Although her mother dislikes the school's hermetic culture, Nanda is initially more influenced by her father, a recent convert to Catholicism. Told solely from Nanda's point of view, the novel unspools in part through Nanda's inner reflections as she attempts to come to terms with the requirements of daily life at the convent. During the course of the story, Nanda begins to write her first novel. When the nuns eventually discover this manuscript they are horrified by it, and Frost in May ends with Nanda leaving the convent. In Frost in May, White explores the attractions of a romanticized Catholicism for a young girl while condemning the school's absolutist and punitive culture. At the convent school, everything the girls do is heavily controlled, from their censored letters home to the way they are expected to fold their clothes. A major theme of the novel is the many ways in which patriarchal authority is exercised: by Nanda's father, by the convent's priest, and by the nuns themselves. Through specific episodes of Nanda's life, White explores the "petty cruelty, and ... the institutionalised power of symbols and community pressure." Much of the tension in this coming-of-age story stems from Fernanda's increasing discontent as she grows away from the values, beliefs, and practices of the convent school world. ===== ===== Mr. Duff dresses as a woman and infiltrates a women's suffrage meeting. ===== Samba Siva Rao / Sam (Nagarjuna Akkineni) is an aged bachelor and a perfumer by profession who lives in Portugal. It falls to mathematician Professor Roger Tupelo of Harvard to attempt an explanation. Though not a topologist himself, he believes that the new shuttle connection caused the topological complexity of the system to increase to the point where the connectivity became infinite. The train is now running in an extra dimension of space and time. Unfortunately the one mathematician who might understand the problem, Prof. Turnbull of MIT, cannot be located and was almost certainly on the train when it vanished. Attempts to find the train are futile. Tupelo warns that closing the new shuttle will prevent the train from ever reappearing. Ten weeks pass by. Later, in the dining room, Annie and Peter discuss their hectic daily routine in Los Angeles with the grandfather. As the conversation goes on, he realizes how little time Peter and his mother spend together, and considers "rectifying" things. It ends with Annie explaining to him how the city can become a scary place. Next, she opens the window and talks to Peter about how the meadow outside used to be her playground, and the "friends" she had with there. The grandfather recollects an event that happened once in that meadow, which Annie starts narrating to Peter. On the first day of Spring, Peter goes into the meadow to visit his friend, the bird, leaving the garden gate open. The bird is incubating six eggs. While they play together, the duck that lives in the yard takes the opportunity and also goes out, as it's been a long winter for him and he wants to have a "real swim". As the duck starts swimming in a pond nearby, he argues with the bird ("What kind of bird are you if you can't fly?" – "What kind of bird are you if you can't swim?"). Peter's pet cat stalks them quietly, and the bird—warned by Peter—flies away. The cat then aims for the duck, but doesn't manage to catch it either. Peter's grandfather scolds him for being outside in the meadow alone ("What if a wolf came out of the forest all of a sudden?"), and takes him back into the house. In response to Peter's comment ("But what could happen anyway, with a cat, a duck and stupid little bird?"), Annie continues narrating the story. Soon afterwards "a big, grey wolf" does indeed come out of the forest. The cat quickly climbs into a tree, but the duck, who is in the pond, is overtaken, and swallowed by the wolf. Peter fetches a rope and climbs over the garden wall, so he can go outside and climb the tree. He asks the bird to fly around the wolf's head to distract him. The wolf gets exhausted, and Peter slowly lowers a noose and catches the wolf by his tail. The wolf struggles to get free, but Peter ties the rope to the tree and the noose only gets tighter. Some hunters, who have been tracking the wolf, come out of the forest ready to shoot. The wolf gets scared, and pops the swallowed duck alive, out of his mouth. He starts dancing as the wolf is being captured. The hunters are about to shoot either one of the two, but Peter tells not to shoot either of them. Shortly after, the wolf, described as "not a ballet fan", grabs the duck again before being forced to drop him by the hunters. Peter gets them to create a cage for the wolf and help him take it to a zoo. What follows is a victory parade, that includes himself, the bird, the hunters leading the wolf, the cat, and his Grandfather, who in this version, ends up congratulating Peter. The female bird's eggs also hatch. As the story ends, Peter finds the duck crouching at the pond's edge, shivering and frightened because of his terrible experience, and Peter reassures it that he will always be there to protect him. Peter starts doubting that the story actually happened. His grandfather shows him the clothes he was wearing that day. Peter then gets excited, and starts wearing them. The special ends with Peter going outside in the meadow (in a mixture of live-action with animation), where he also finds the cat, the duck, and the bird from the story. ===== Black Sword is the second adventure about the heroine Freyda Nikorn's search for Elric of Melniboné, who killed her father. ===== A reporter Will Campbell gets himself arrested to get material for a story.
