The game begins with PewDiePie ending a vlog on "how to make bread using your buttcheeks." Soon after he uploads it, he finds his most recent video to be unwatched, to his surprise. Soon after, a barrel tries to attack him unsuccessfully. He finds CutiePieMarzia and the pugs, Edgar and Maya, and the keys to the car. Just before he leaves with the pugs, the Barrel King announces that PewDiePie's fans have been captured in order to find out about the Legendary Brofist, of which he has no memory. Immediately, he leaves, while Marzia goes back into bed to continue eating snacks.

Just as PewDiePie drives into the highway, General Barrel appears behind him in a tank. PewDiePie manages to evade him temporarily, before being stranded on a truck with him about to be shot. However, daddy damian hit it from the back picks him up on his stealth jet bought online, but due to the cost of jet fuel, PewDiePie is left on a smaller plane. General Barrel then appears again with his flying tank, but is defeated and ultimately killed in the process. Due to a change of plans, though, he ends up going to the North Pole.

PewDiePie manages to get to the North Pole, where he finds Shannon, a female shark and fangirl, and rescues her from the barrels. Soon after, he meets CinnamonToastKen on top of a steep cliff which PewDiePie is unable to climb. He soon finds Stephano, a small talking golden statue, who he uses as a grappling hook to climb up, but unfortunately forgets him and leaves him behind. In a cave, he meets Generoll Barrel, the brother of General Barrel, who had heard of his death by PewDiePie, but is defeated by the help of CinnamonToastKen's smelling senses. Just before he dies, Generoll Barrel contacts Barrel King about his defeat, who, in reply, hires an unnamed mercenary. CinnamonToastKen then stays behind to ensure PewDiePie is not being followed.

After PewDiePie ventures further, he frees jacksepticeye after a failed trap meant for PewDiePie. In return, jacksepticeye leads him out with the help of his "eye", who is a pet of his and can shoot lasers, and Africa, the location of the Barrel King's base. They find the exit blocked by Jennifer, a talking female rock and obsessed fangirl, who is moved by the eye. At the exit, jacksepticeye stays behind to also ensure PewDiePie is not being followed, to his dismay. He exits to the mystic forests of Transylvania, and is picked up by Markiplier again after being called, by a helicopter, which Markiplier explains he got as a package deal with the stealth jet online.

Markiplier then drops off PewDiePie at Africa. After a long journey by Rhino stampede, he eventually finds out that the hired mercenary is FalconLover, a lesser-known YouTuber and transspecies of a human and giraffe. After being defeated, he confesses that he just wanted to be noticed, and he tells PewDiePie to download an app called "UFOGO" in order to get to the Barrel base, much to his disappointment at first, before being picked up by a UFO. Along the way, he finds Cryaotic, a fellow unidentified YouTuber. Soon after, they are both teleported at the Moon. They both share their feelings for each other, and are about to kiss, until Marzia reveals to know what's going on. Embarrassed, Cry leaves, to PewDiePie's dismay.

He then finds the secret base of the Barrel King, along with his fans captured in glass cells. The Barrel King, who is a gigantic barrel with a crown and robe, is then defeated in a final showdown between him and PewDiePie, and the fans are freed, but is still alive. Then, PewDiePie begins to levitate with him glowing, as the fans crumble together to create the Legendary Brofist. The Barrel King asks PewDiePie why it works for him, to which he replies that love was the answer, and that The Barrel King was obviously empty inside. Instantly, the Barrel King is crushed and killed, while everyone celebrates.

After the end credits, the Barrel King's remains are seen being carried by the Barrels.

Mel Foster is an orphan, growing up in Victorian England, when he is sent away from the orphanage to work on a ship called ''The Albatross''. When ''The Albatross'' gets stuck in ice, Mel accidentally discovers the body of a giantess frozen within the ice. Mr Wallace, a scientist travelling on the ship, convinces Captain Mariner to bring the "monster" back to England, to show Queen Victoria, who will surely pay handsomely to see the monster.

Mel, left to look after the frozen specimen accidentally revives the giantess back to life. However, Eve Frankenstein is not actually a monster. Luckily, she does not want to eat Mel―she wants to protect him.

While Eve and Mel become firm friends in the Arctic, back in England there is definitely something fishy going on in Buckingham Palace. The Queen's creepy butler has a peculiar influence over his monarch. It turns out that this butler is hatching a plan that could destroy the British Empire. It is up to Mel, Evie and an assorted bunch of monsters to save the Empire!

The action unfolds in a shabby New York strip bar in real time. While a bartender dispenses drinks, a topless dancer (Jennifer McDonald) moves listlessly on stage for a handful of patrons: a businessman (David Selby), two hockey fans (Rustam Branaman, Taylor Nichols), and a wheelchair-bound old man (Paul Williams). A Man (Raymond J. Barry) enters and announces a stick-up. As the bartender reaches for a gun, the Man shoots and kills him.

A night of psychological terror unfolds as the moods of the Man swing unpredictably between the friendly and the murderous. Forcing the group to play a game called "Nazi Truth", he humiliates the hostages as he peels away their inner secrets.

Disrupting the situation, a young woman (April Grace) arrives to pick up her friend, the topless dancer, and is taken hostage along with the others. As the game of "Nazi Truth" continues, the Man reveals his own secret: as a youth he had been raped in jail.

Discovering the young woman is a mortician's assistant, the Man suddenly explodes into a manic episode, obsessed with erasing evidence of his crime. Failing to extract the bullet from the bartender's skull, he forces the young woman to sever the bartender's head. He binds the hostages and puts plastic bags on their heads. Satisfied, he takes the head in a box and leaves.

The hostages, suffocating and struggling for breath, are finally able to rip off their plastic hoods. They burst outside, uncertain what to do. Traumatized, they each go their separate ways, never calling the police.

Edward Valles, a Marine, returns from his final tour in the middle east to his family in Los Angeles. He is fulfilling his final duty as a recruiter and promises his wife that he is done with war and will leave the Marine Corps after the duty is complete.

A team of Homeland Security agents find crates with military arsenal building up in Mexico and suspect something is about to happen. At the same time a coalition of countries hostile towards the United States has been meeting in secret and moving forward on a plot that has been years in the making.

On a camping trip with his fellow recruiters, Eddie witnesses the detonation of nuclear bombs in downtown Los Angeles, which is followed by an invasion across the Mexican border. His fellow recruiters and him decide to report to 29 Palms deep in the desert and join the group that is forming to counter strike against the invaders. This is when he meets the Battery Operated Grunts, a group of Marines from the communication school that is running the convoys communications during the mission. He joins the group and meets the different personalities along the way and their reasons for volunteering for the mission.

After the convoy gets attacked along the freeway, they reach their first checkpoint at a mall. After setting up the communications with command, the convoy gets attacked by a group of Americans using the mall as a shelter, but the communication team is able to escape without a casualty. The next check point is to be a National Guard Armory that is found to have been overwhelmed by gang members. The Marines retake the Armory but one of the Battery Operated grunts is lost in the combat.

The convoy approaches the invading forces stronghold on the Santa Monica Pier. The convoy attacks and takes heavy losses, including two of the remaining four Battery Operated grunts. The convoy is saved by a second convoy that was supposed to reinforce Camp Pendleton but found the base leveled. The story ends with Eddie recruiting his brother Giovanni into the Marine Corps.

Jeevan (Kunchacko Boban) and Salim (Biju Menon) are taxi drivers in Gulf. They live in a small villa in Sharjah which they share with Kumar (Neeraj Madhav). Jeevan while on duty encounters Thamara Muthulingam(Parvathy Ratheesh) who runs into his taxi and asks him to drive. Jeevan soon senses something is wrong as she does not provide a destination and seems suspicious. He drops her off at a beach and asks her leave which she does. The next day he finds her at the same beach again and approaches her. She explains that she is a Sri Lankan Tamil orphan who was tricked into joining a dance bar in Dubai. One night her sponsor confronts her in the dressing room after she runs away from the dance stage. She hits him in the head with a bottle in panic and runs off which is when she gets into Jeevan's taxi.

Jeevan sympathizes with her and lets her stay in his villa. His roommates are initially against it but later on warms up to her while Jeevan falls in love with her. Salim digs into her sponsor's fate and finds out he is still hospitalized and the police is on the lookout for her. Jeevan speaks with a friend Ashraf (Mithun Ramesh) to arrange for an accommodation for Thamara who reluctantly agrees to let her stay with his female workers. One night during a labour checking, Thamara returns to the villa with Jeevan where they make love. She then becomes pregnant and Jeevan arranges for her to stay in the villa. She delivers the baby at the villa itself with help of a friend's wife Deepa (Aparna Nair) who is a doctor.

Couple of years later, Jeevan meets with an accident and goes into a coma. Against his friends' wishes, Jeevan is transported to his hometown by a distant relative. At the same time, Thamara is arrested by the police at the behest of her sponsor and is later deported. Their infant son, Kannan, is sent to an orphanage while Salim is sentenced to six months imprisonment for aiding her illegally.

Sometime later, Jeevan who has now recovered arrives in Sri Lanka to find Thamara and is met by Salim. A London-based couple have shown interest in adopting Kannan. The only way to prevent this is if Jeevan and Thamara appear in the court together to receive him. Jeevan and Salim are not able to find Thamara and decide to return to UAE without her. On the way to the airport, they see a girl who has met with an accident surrounded by a crowd. The crowd stops their car and ask them to drop the bleeding girl at a nearby hospital. At the hospital, Jeevan finds Thamara taking care of other children. They are reunited and successfully get custody of Kannan from the UAE court.

Jeevan loads up on supplies and goes to stay with his brother, Frank. Many of the actors, actresses, and others that had gathered to mourn Arthur's death die within the next three weeks.

Twenty years later, Kirsten is part of a nomadic group of actors and musicians known as the ''Travelling Symphony''. Kirsten, who was eight at the time of the outbreak, can remember little of her life before Year Zero, but clings to a two-volume set of graphic novels given to her by Arthur before his death, titled ''Station Eleven''. The troupe operates on a two-year cycle touring the Great Lakes region, performing Shakespeare plays and classical music, while Kirsten scavenges abandoned homes for props, costumes, and traces of Arthur in tabloid magazines.

The troupe intends to reunite with two members they left behind the pregnant Charlie, and her husband, Jeremy at a small town. Upon arriving, they are disturbed to find that their friends are missing, and the town is now under the control of the Prophet, who rapes the young girls he claims as his "wives". The troupe quickly leaves, and goes off-route to the Museum of Civilization, a settlement where they believe they might find their missing friends. En route, they discover a young stowaway who fled the town, as she was promised to the Prophet as another bride. Shortly after, members of the troupe begin to disappear until finally the entire troupe is gone, leaving only Kirsten and her friend August. Frightened, they continue on to the Museum, hoping to be reunited with others.

Unbeknownst to Kirsten, ''Station Eleven'' is an unpublished passion project by Arthur's first wife, Miranda. Fourteen years before the collapse of civilization, Miranda left an abusive relationship and married Arthur, a friend from her hometown in coastal British Columbia who has since become famous. As Arthur's fame as an actor hit its peak, Miranda realized he was having an affair with the woman who would become his second wife, Elizabeth. The night that Miranda discovers the affair, she walks out of her home and asks a paparazzo outside if he has a cigarette. The paparazzo turns out to be Jeevan. Years later, when Jeevan is trying to reinvent himself as an entertainment journalist, Arthur gives him an exclusive interview; he is leaving Elizabeth and their young son, Tyler, to be with another woman. Jeevan reflects on this while he and Frank are quarantining in Frank's apartment. After weeks, they realize that no one is coming to save them. Frank, who is paraplegic, dies by suicide to spare Jeevan from feeling responsible for him. Jeevan embarks on a journey south, and after many years, finds a new settlement where he marries and becomes the town doctor.

In Year Zero, one of Arthur's friends, Clark, informs Elizabeth that Arthur is dead. Clark, Elizabeth and Tyler happen to be on the same flight from New York City to Toronto to attend Arthur's funeral, until it is grounded at the Severn City Airport due to the pandemic. The passengers, having nowhere to go, create a settlement in the airport, and Clark becomes the "curator" of the Museum of Civilization, where he gathers artifacts such as iPhones and laptop computers. While most of the airport survivors adapt to their new life, Elizabeth and Tyler embrace religious zealotry, believing that the pandemic happened for a reason and spared those who were good. After two years, they leave with a religious cult.

In the present, Kirsten and August find a group of the Prophet's men holding Sayid, a member of their troupe, hostage. They kill the men and free Sayid, who explains that their friend Dieter was killed, while another hostage escaped, warned the troupe, and sent them on another road, explaining how they went missing. The trio leave for the Severn City Airport, but Kirsten is soon discovered by the Prophet. Just before he is about to kill her, he refers to the "Undersea," a place from the ''Station Eleven'' comics. Kirsten quotes lines from ''Station Eleven'', distracting the Prophet long enough that a younger sentry (having a crisis of faith) shoots and kills him, before taking his own life. The trio continues to the Museum of Civilization, where they are reunited with Charlie, Jeremy and the rest of the troupe. Clark, who has lived in the museum for twenty years, realizes who Kirsten is, her attachment to Arthur, and that the Prophet was Tyler Leander. Clark takes Kirsten up to the control tower of the airport, where through a telescope he shows her there is a town to the south with electric lights, suggesting that civilization is beginning to take root again.

Five weeks later, Kirsten leaves with the ''Travelling Symphony'' for the town to the south. She gives one copy of ''Station Eleven'' to Clark's museum. He begins to read it and recognizes a scene that is borrowed from a dinner party which he, Arthur and Miranda once attended.

The game is set in Alefgard, the world of the original ''Dragon Quest''. The game is based on a parallel ending of ''Dragon Quest'': before the final battle, the hero accepted the evil Dragonlord's suggestion - each rules a half of the world. The deal turned out to be a trap, leading to the hero's defeat and allowing the land to be dominated by monsters. With time passing by, a new builder (the player character) appears to revive the desolate world for the next hero. Players gather "material" all over the world in order to rebuild the land of Alefgard from scratch.

At George's, Karen asks Niska to kill her. She refuses, and Karen produces her gun. Vera and George are shot. Niska leaves to evade the police. Odi waits as George dies, telling him his wife is waiting in the next room, an old memory. Leo, Fred, Niska, and Mia reunite at the Hawkins' to repair Max. Sophie tries to bond with Niska, but finds it hard due to Niska's attitude, and Niska finds it hard as well due to Sophie's happy attitude. They eventually bond when Sophie thinks synths need freedom as well. Max is too damaged to be repaired and does not regain consciousness. Joe, Toby and Fred play football, and Joe apologises to Toby. A policewoman comes to the house, telling Joe she's there to follow up on the call he made. Joe apologises to the synths, but they decide to leave as soon as Max recovers. The TV news shows footage of Niska assaulting humans at the smash club. Laura insists the synths leave. They beg them to let them help Max, to no avail. As Leo gets his bag, Karen arrives with Hobb, and armed police arrest everyone.

Hobb tries to link Fred, Leo, Max, Mia and Niska to extract the programme David Elster made to give synths consciousness; however, this does not work as Karen's part of the code is missing. Hobb alters Fred so that he essentially becomes the primary user; Fred is still capable of hatred towards Hobb but unable to harm him. Hobb plans to destroy the others as he no longer has a use for them, but needs to keep Fred so he can create obedient but conscious synths.

The Hawkins' electronic items are confiscated by the police, but they quickly plot to retrieve Mattie's laptop, which contains a cached copy of some of Leo's memories. Pete Drummond arrives and helps them to steal it back; Mattie, Toby and Pete go to a cafe and send Laura a copy of some of the memories. Laura threatens to send the videos to the press if Hobb does not release the synths, which would release the secret that there are conscious synths to the public. Hobb lets the synths go, although code within Fred allows him to track them.

The Hawkins reunite with the synths and after the police arrive, they flee to an abandoned church. They realise that they can be tracked through Fred and Leo is unable to remove the intrusive code. Leo rings Karen and reveals where they are hiding; Karen chooses to leave Hobb and go to the church to execute the programme in their minds. Karen tries to infect the code, but fails after Mia intervenes. Meanwhile, Laura pulls Joe aside and tells him about the secret about Tom. After the group debate what to do with the programme, Niska stores a copy of it on the hard drive and gives it to Laura. Niska decides to go off on her own and the synths leave without her and without Fred. Mia gives an emotional goodbye to the Hawkins as her former owners return home. After Karen leaves, she is met by Pete and they reluctantly go off together. The final scene shows Niska on a train, with a copy of the programme.

In the sixteenth century, two Spanish lovers are divided by the rivalry of their families. She then confines herself in a convent, and while the man searches for her, the abbess of the convent falls in love with him, hindering his research and carrying the girl to the Inquisition.

Dick Lawrence returns home from the Army and agrees to marry sweetheart Janie Conway, despite a month-to-month marital contract she has drawn up. Dick is also unaware that Janie is scheming to advance his career at her stepfather Charles Conway's newspaper.

Janie doesn't mind the arrival of soldier acquaintance "Spud" until it turns out Spud is an attractive former WAC. Things get further complicated when Spud is invited by Dick to spend a few days at their home, and when Janie's tomboy sister Elsbeth threatens to tell Dick what's really going on at the newspaper.

After attempting to make her husband jealous by demonstrating an interest in "Scooper," another military pal of his. Janie is caught kissing him, which nearly scuttles the sale of the paper until Elsbeth, of all people, saves the day for her sister.

Issue #1

Three years have passed following the deaths of Lex Luthor and Dick Grayson/The "Joker". Bruce Wayne has not been seen since. In the Batcave, someone unseen shatters a display case and removes the Batsuit from therein.

On the streets, a suspect is chased by Gotham City police officers but saved when Batman appears to attack their pursuit vehicles.

In a jungle setting, Wonder Woman battles a 4-legged minotaur while her infant super-son, Johnathan, rides in a papoose on her back. Upon returning to the Amazons' new city, she learns that her truant daughter Lara is visiting Superman, father to her and consort to Diana.

Superman is now mysteriously iced over, seated on a throne in his rebuilt Fortress of Solitude. Lara speaks to him absently about the Kryptonian relics on display, including the Bottle City of Kandor. Upon looking closely at it, she discovers a distress signal.

Back in Gotham, Commissioner Ellen Yindel ponders the derelict bat signal. Her career is mired by the media frenzy surrounding the Batman sightings and a new mayoral spokesperson trying to put words in her mouth. She answers a call reporting Batman's imminent arrest.

The ensuing chase results in Batman surrounded and abandoning a motorcycle. After considerable resistance, the cops manage to beat Batman down with night sticks. Disregarding the surprise of a female Batman, Yindel joins the arrest, unmasks her, and demands the whereabouts of Bruce Wayne. Revealed, Carrie Kelley claims the original Batman is now dead.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: The Atom'' #1''': Dr. Ray Palmer finishes a sparring session with a reptile specimen in his lab. He regrows to normal human size and reads news cards about the Kelly arrest, worrying about the implications. The sounds of intruders prompt him to arm himself. One, he finds, is a miniaturized man we will come to know as Baal. The other is Lara who has come calling to see if Palmer can restore the inhabitants of Kandor to full size.

Issue #2

The beaten and bloodied Carrie Kelley is manhandled into a police vehicle. When prompted, she madly repeats her claim that "Bruce Wayne is dead" three times. She is incarcerated as a Jane Doe and Commissioner Yindel spends a month interrogating her, with mixed success. Carrie claims the aging Bruce Wayne finally succumbed to battle injuries after years of holding on. But when asked about his final resting place, Carrie only makes a sick joke and chides Yindel about her anti-Batman beliefs.

Back at his laboratory, Ray Palmer fills in Lara about the horrible consequences of his earlier attempts to resize Kandor. Baal joins the conversation through a wall-mounted speaker. Lara super-hears a summons from her mother and flies away in the blink of an eye. Baal and Ray continue talking, leaving off with Baal frowning when Ray makes a reference to God.

Following some media commentary, Yindel takes reports on the lack of protesters or resistance to Carrie's legal situation, implying that the Mayor is manipulating opinions. Yindel remotely oversees Carrie's prison transport. At a strategic point en route, Carrie whistles to trigger a non-lethal missile strike on the transport. The Batmobile (still refit to tank form per ''Dark Knight Returns'') advances on the transport. A waiting force of squad cars and drones scrambles to surround the Batmobile. As it continues to shoot police vehicles, Yindel orders a drawbridge raised to cut off its escape route. Police corner the Batmobile against the drawbridge, but find no one inside. Its afterburner fires, propelling it over the drawbridge. Carrie, who has wedged herself in the undercarriage, escapes when the Batmobile lands on the other side of the river.

In a desert, Ray attempts his Kandor restoration project involving cables connected to the bottle and a chest-mounted beam projector. After a blinding flash, the area is populated by full-sized Kandor citizens. However, Ray is shocked to see that some of their number are freshly dead and many more wear the raiments of a cult soon revealed to be twisted, fanatical, and polygamous. The regrown Baal introduces their leader as Quar. Quar redirects the beam on Palmer. Palmer shrinks to a tiny height and Baal steps on him. Quar orates about their new home and power. He picks up the bottle city, whose inhabitants no longer include any of his followers, and obliterates it with heat vision.

In the Batcave, Carrie disembarks from the Batmobile and approaches the Batcomputer terminal. Bruce Wayne stands there with a crutch and turns to look at her with an unreadable expression.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: Wonder Woman #1''''': Super mother/daughter friction occurs as Lara returns to the new Amazon city, late for a sparring session with Wonder Woman. Lara laments her upbringing in secret near-isolation while Diana focuses on the upside of having a defiant daughter; she'll fight for her own in life. Lara complains that combat training is needless given her potentially unrivaled super powers. Diana attacks harder in an effort to enliven Lara's performance. All the while, super baby Johnathan remains in the papoose, possibly not even awake. Diana speaks of her fighting Amazonian heritage and thrusts a sword at Lara. Lara allows the sword to break on her chest, counters that she prefers her father's heritage, and flies away.

Issue #3

Now released from Kandor, the Kryptonians led by Quar make an announcement to the world, asking that they be acknowledged as gods or face destruction. Faced with this ultimatum, but recognising that he is too weak to face such a threat himself, Bruce takes Carrie to the Fortress of Solitude to inspire Superman back into action, who since "The Dark Knight Strikes Again" has left himself to freeze in the Fortress. When they reach the Fortress, Bruce strikes Clark with a sledgehammer to rouse him. Clark awakens to Carrie saying that Kryptonians are involved. While Superman agrees to help, Quar and his followers breach the Pentagon, demanding an answer to their ultimatum. The monitors around the room go black and Bruce (in his Batsuit) declares: "Go to Hell". At that moment, Superman arrives, but is shocked to see his daughter Lara now aiding Quar, declaring him a traitor to his own race.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: Green Lantern #1 Hal Jordan''''': Learning of the Kryptonians' arrival on Earth, Hal travels back to try to make them stand down. Encountering the 3 wives of Quar in Egypt, Hal is toyed with by the women as they assess his Green Lantern powers and, realising that without his Ring he is no threat, they sever his right hand (and the Ring) with their heat-vision, casting it into the atmosphere, and leaving Hal wounded and in shock in the dirt by the shadow of the Sphinx.

Issue #4

Superman stands his ground but refuses to fight back as Lara pummels him all across the world to the Fortress of Solitude. Quar cocoons Superman in black matter and orders his legion of Kryptonians to sink the Fortress into the ocean, and Superman with it. He then gives out an order to Gotham City demanding that they hand over the Batman or they will take it out on Gotham. As the city falls into chaos, Bruce orders Carrie on a special mission, giving her some sort of pill and her new Batgirl costume. Wonder Woman, meanwhile, stands alone on Themyscira in the rain, ignoring the call to action from Bruce. As Ellen Yindel waxes on the worth of the people of Gotham and that of the GCPD, Bruce in his Batman garb appears behind her and tells her to stop trying to drown out the needs of her people.

Meanwhile, Ray Palmer, revealed to still be alive, is sinking into a subatomic universe when he suddenly grabs hold of an atom, realizing that he might be able to fix his mistake.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: Batgirl #1''''': In the middle of the riots in Gotham City, Carrie Kelly fights her way to the Gotham piers wearing her new Batgirl costume. She casts a pill given to her by Bruce into the bay as she is about to be overtaken. At that moment Aquaman reaches out from the water and grabs the item she had thrown in, riding on the back of a whale. Carrie jumps on top next to Aquaman and he tells her to hold her breath as he holds her close.

Issue #5

With Gotham City under attack, Batman's followers bring Flash to the Batcave, but Batman is worried he can't fix Flash's broken legs. Meanwhile, Carrie Kelly, Aquaman and his army have found Superman in the Arctic. Aquaman gives Carrie Kelly a golden needle, saying it's the only thing that will free Superman from the matter he's trapped in, which she does. Back in Gotham, Batman prepares to fight Quar and his legions. Superman brings Carrie back to the Batcave, where Flash is now attached to a computer to interfere with the weather. Using power from the Bat-Signal, Flash makes it rain synthetic kryptonite, weakening the Kryptonians and causing them to fall from the sky by the hundreds. Batman, Superman (clad in a kryptonite-resistant suit of armor), and the people of Gotham bring the fight to them.

Baal picks up a car and uses it to make sexual advances towards her. Near the end, they engage in a kiss and Lara begins her journey of love.

Issue #6

Thanks to the synthetic kryptonite, Batman, Superman, the GCPD and the citizens of Gotham are able to hold off the Kryptonians. The weakened Quar is held off by the Sons of Batman, who hit him with a barrage of bullets and an RPG. Lara and Baal return from their outing around the world after the kryptonite rain has fallen and are surprised to see the situation with the downed Kryptonians. Baal begins to kill the citizens and burns a squadron of Batboys to death with his heat vision. Carrie attacks Baal with the Batmobile, which he destroys. Baal grabs Carrie by the cape and hurls her through the air. Miraculously, she is able to land unharmed. When she is cornered by Baal, Carrie uses her slingshot and shoots him with a kryptonite pebble directly in the eye. Baal retreats, screaming in pain. As the Kryptonians retreat, Superman suggests pursuing them to destroy them once and for all, but Batman persuades him to let them go and so they can "lick their wounds". Quar uses his heat vision and hits Batman in the back, burning a hole through his chest. After he collapses, Superman removes Batman's helmet. Bruce makes Clark promise not to take him to a hospital and seemingly dies.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: World's Finest #1''''': Carrie Kelly and two members of the Sons of Batman watch over Gotham City. Lara Kent appears and confronts them. Lara asks Carrie if she was the Batman's "Chosen One". Carrie responded with a punch but fractures her right hand. Wonder Woman arrives to confront Lara and the two fight until she subdues Lara. Realizing that her daughter is injured, she offers her hand and tries to persuade Lara that she is still her daughter after all, but an emotional Lara declines and leaves the scene.

Issue #7

The story continues with the GCPD led by Commissioner Ellen Yindel and Carrie Kelly cleaning up the city. Yindel asks Carrie if what they fought for was worth it since a lot of people died during the battle. Carrie responded by telling Yindel to fix the Bat-signal so they can keep in touch. Meanwhile, the kryptonians were able to regain their strength and Quar persuaded Lara Kent to capture her brother, Jonathan Kent as their hostage. At Themyscira, Wonder Woman was able to sense the planned siege when she confronted Lara while attempting to kidnap Jonathan Kent and the Kryptonians realized that the Amazonians were just waiting on them and were ready to attack. Meanwhile, the unknown location Superman went into is revealed to be the Lazarus Pit. Superman plunges Batman's body into the pit and Bruce Wayne comes out alive, physically younger, and in his prime once again. Bruce attacks Superman due to the effects of the pit but Superman calms him down at the end.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: Strange Adventures #1''''': Hal Jordan continues to search for his lost hand with the Green Lantern Power Ring attached to it. Meanwhile, Hawkman and Hawkgirl watch over him, deliberating over helping him. Hal reaches an unknown village in the middle of the desert and found the Power Ring in possession of one of the men in the village with the help of a beggar to whom he gave his drinking water at the village's entrance. The man tries to sell the ring, but Hal without any money, steals the ring and runs. Pursued by armed goons, Hal is cornered and surrounded, but is saved by Hawkman and Hawkgirl. At the stories end, Hal is reunited with his severed hand and becomes Green Lantern again.

Issue #8

At the Batcave, Carrie and the Flash deal with Batman's death, with Carrie hopeful that Bruce is still alive. Batman, now rejuvenated by the Lazarus Pit, appears with Superman. They receive a transmission from Wonder Woman in Themyscira seeking assistance, as the Kryptonians declared war against the Amazons. Superman arrives to check on Diana, but the Flash warns Wonder Woman and Superman that Quar and the remaining Kryptonians, who ingested nuclear bombs, are all in one location and have started a countdown.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: Detective Comics #1:''''' GCPD Commissioner Ellen Yindel, together with two members of the GCPD SWAT team, are investigating an area where they got a lead from a victim that claims to be still alive. They find mutilated body parts treated as a trophy and are attacked by former members of the mutants that are dressed up like the Joker, calling themselves the Joker Boys. The SWAT team members are killed and Yindel is beaten up. It turns out that Bruno has taken over the group, and she called in the police to be able to kill Yindel herself. The Joker Boys are about to slice Yindel on a table but Batman and Batgirl arrived to save her. Bruno and Yindel are caught up in a struggle and both sustain gunshot wounds. With Yindel about to lose consciousness, it's made clear that she is about to accept that Batman will always be there to protect Gotham no matter what.

Issue #9

Batman and Carrie race to the Kryptonians, who continue the countdown. During this, Batman manages to swarm them with bats, causing them to inadvertently attack one another. Discouraged, most of the Kryptonians attempt to leave Earth, only to be killed by Quar. Batman and Carrie attempt to attack, but are stopped by Superman, who goes in their stead. After being berated and assaulted by the remaining Kryptonians, Superman surprises them by systematically taking them out, revealing to Batman that Superman had been holding back his true fighting ability all this time. Defeated, the Kryptonians attempt to go nuclear, revealing that they are planted on a fault line which will rip the planet apart. However, Dr. Ray Palmer manages to fix and reverse the effects of his shrink ray, causing him to grow and most of the remaining Kryptonians to shrink, negating their explosives' effects to nothing more than mere firecrackers. Quar, going nuclear as well, attempts to run, but he is taken by Lara and sent to the sun where he detonates.

Two months later, Superman seemingly has disappeared. Batman comes to grips with his extended life. Carrie has altered her batsuit to mimic Batman's and rechristens herself "Batwoman". Batman grows to accept her as an equal as opposed to a sidekick. It is also revealed that Lara survived the encounter with Quar.

'''''Dark Knight Universe Presents: Action Comics #1:''''' While Batman, Batwoman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, and the Atom all continue their duties to fight crime and protect humanity, Superman, under his guise as Clark Kent, begins to teach Lara what it means to be human.

Half-brothers Caesar and Otto live out some of horror's most terrifying scenes when they agree to house-sit a home filled with ghostly visions, levitating objects and possessions. This hilarious horror pays homage to the classics, The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror, Sinister, Insidious, and more. Filled with an All-Star cast, and including the return of all of the favorite "Caesar and Otto" cast members.

Brian's computer freezes up and he calls technical support for assistance, where he becomes attracted to an employee named Padma and begins telling her lies to impress her. When Brian wishes to start a relationship with Padma, Stewie tells him that it is doomed since she is in India. Nonetheless, Brian travels to India to meet her, accompanied by Stewie. They go to tech support and find Padma. After spending time together, she invites him and Stewie to her family's home.

When they arrive, Brian and Stewie find that she is arranged to be married to a man named Dhiraj, much to Brian's surprise. Padma unexpectedly calls off the marriage by expressing her love for Brian, which makes her family upset, especially her father who had already paid a large dowry. Brian works to make money to pay back the dowry. He and Stewie first start by doing a roadside service that extracts tapeworms from people through snake charming, before Brian goes on ''Kaun Banega Crorepati'' to acquire the money; this ends badly when Brian is asked his first question by Anil Kapoor on the subject of cricket and gets it wrong, losing the game. When Brian meets up with Padma, he learns that her father did not need the dowry money back as her younger sister married Dhiraj, but that Padma does not want to marry him because of his lack of knowledge on India and the fact that they have very little in common. Brian is furious at being rejected after travelling such a long distance for her, but she tells him that she will always love him, because by travelling all the way to India for her, he saved her from a lifetime of unhappiness. She kisses him on the cheek just before she leaves. Brian tries to tell a disagreeing Stewie that it was the journey that mattered.

Meanwhile, Joe visits the Griffins and invites Peter to bingo night at an elderly parlor. Peter is reluctant, but Lois convinces him to go. At the parlor, Peter discovers that Joe is called "The Big Cheese" due to being the popular player there. Peter is not having fun, but to his surprise, he wins the first game. Peter's winning goes to his head, and he gets competitive while wearing clothing that makes him look high and mighty, eventually becoming the new Bingo Captain, much to Joe's dismay. Joe tells Peter that he only brought him there to have fun, and refuses to come to bingo, to Peter's indifference, but Lois expresses disapproval. When Peter goes to the parlor, Lois and Joe try to convince him to come home. When he stands his ground, Lois calls Chris and Meg to annoy Peter when he is playing, so he gives up and heads home.

The episode ends with Anil Kapoor, the Indian audience, Padma and her family, the Griffin family, Joe, and minor characters singing and dancing the closing musical number while dressed in Indian clothing. When Brian joins in on the musical number, he is attacked and mauled by a Bengal tiger as Stewie orders everyone to keep dancing.

Perry Frank assembles a team of four young scientists to take part in an experiment to reanimate the dead. The group consists of himself, his friend and protege Carter Watts, biologist Devin Fischer, and engineer Ampersand "Amps" Garner. Although Devin and Amps are privately dubious about Carter's usefulness, the team members express their optimism and excitement for the project in taped interviews that Perry arranges. Perry explains that their funding only allows for five subjects, so they must proceed slowly and carefully. As they set up the equipment, Amps and Carter bond. Devin confides to Perry that his father, a scientist, experienced his greatest regret in having his work finished by later teams, and Devin says he wants to push this experiment all the way.

Their first subject is an insect. When the experiment fails, Devin suggests that since the experiment was designed around mammals, they should abandon tests on insects. Perry reluctantly agrees, and Amps recalibrates the equipment for a mouse. Carter, initially supportive of the idea, becomes reluctant when it comes time to kill the mouse, which the others refused to let him name. The experiment is once again a failure. Carter and Devin give up for the day, but Amps convinces Perry to set up a second test on the same subject. Amps becomes demoralized when this also results in failure. When Carter walks through the lab that night, he notices the mouse's body has moved. He excitedly wakes the others, and they celebrate. Carter later approaches Perry privately and cautiously suggests that one of the team members may have moved the mouse to raise morale. Perry reassures him that he has the situation under control.

Further tests prove failures. Frustrated, Devin requests Carter contact the grant organization and request money for more tests. Carter is incensed when he finds that Perry has lied to them; there is no grant, and Perry is bankrolling the experiment privately. Carter quits the project, citing legal and moral implications, though Devin elects to stay. Perry and Devin do not explain the situation to Amps. Devin pushes for a larger mammal, which he says will be easier to test, and Perry allows the use of a rabbit, though he cautions Devin that to maintain public acceptance they must avoid animal testing on anything larger. Devin and Perry become further estranged when Perry learns Devin has joined to project for personal reasons – his sister is near death, and Devin intends to reanimate her. Perry angrily reminds Devin that human experimentation is not possible.

After promising results, Amps' updated calculations reveal that the second subject, the mouse, could not have moved. Perry admits that he moved the mouse himself, and Amps says that he needs time away from the project. Devin pushes Perry to perform another test without Amps, and they experience their first unqualified success. Although initially angry they would operate his machine without permission, Amps also becomes excited. Perry contacts Carter, apologizes for lying about the grant, and requests that he rejoin them. Carter returns once he hears about their success. Meanwhile, Devin convinces Amps to secretly test on a human subject. When Perry finds out, he threatens to call the police. Seeing no alternative, Devin commits suicide to force them to test the machine on him. The result is initially a success, but the others are quickly horrified to learn that Devin's memory and personality have been wiped; he does not even understand how to speak. Perry orders them to destroy the equipment, and they leave the lab with Devin in tow. As they put him in a car, Devin stares wide-eyed at the world around him.

A young Indian man, the son of a beloved tiger hunter, comes to Chicago in 1979 on a quest for success. Trained as an engineer, Sami Malik's dream is initially thwarted and he must take a temporary job as a lowly draftsman in an electronics company. He moves in with several other under-employed engineers and a Pakistani chef (Babu Rahman) who have emigrated to the U.S. His misfit roommates concoct an elaborate farce in order for him to romance his childhood crush, Ruby Iqbal.

Sami meets Alex Womack, the son of the company's head (Frank Womak), who has eschewed corporate life and prefers to take Polaroid photographs of depressed persons. Alex helps Sami in his efforts to succeed, encouraging him to work on the company's biggest current project creating a microwave oven that can properly heat frozen food without blowing up. After several failures, Sami enlists the help of his roommate engineers. They succeed in building a non-exploding microwave that also heats frozen food properly and present it to the company head, just in time for him to make a deal to manufacture it. Frank is so grateful for the help that he gives them all jobs.

Sami fails to impress Ruby when she and her strict father visit Chicago on a tour of the U.S., but at the film's conclusion he, Alex, and Babu are seen driving to California to catch up with her and plead his case again, now that he is a gainfully employed engineer.

In 2020, producer Filip Dogan (Sven Medvešek) starts ''Housed!'', a reality show featuring six couples who live in an isolated, Big Brother-like house in Zagreb for 180 days. After a while, international tensions between Western countries and their unidentified Asian rival escalate into a global war which turns the entire European continent into a battlefield. Military aircraft are flying over Zagreb, and some of the city's landmarks, such as Zagreb Cathedral and Cibona Tower, are in ruins.

Having been cut off from access to media and outside contacts, the show's participants are completely unaware of goings-on outside their house, and their carelessness and preoccupation with trivialities suddenly become fascinating for the viewers, which boosts the show's ratings. Recognizing a winning formula, Dogan spares no effort to keep the participants from finding out what is going on outside the compound, while maintaining a tense relationship with his ex-wife Helena (Nataša Dorčić), a journalist at a competing TV channel.

An allegory for gender stereotypes and internalized homophobia, the film stars Daniel MacIvor as a fairy who approaches a surgical team (Holly Cole as the doctor and Micah Barnes as the nurse) to have his wings removed so that he can become a normal human being, after facing anti-fairy discrimination. Following a musical debate between the three, the doctor agrees to perform the surgery. As he leaves the clinic, the now-wingless fairy is initially happy to be just like everyone else around him, but soon comes to regret his decision as he belatedly realizes the unique qualities and gifts, such as the ability to fly, that he has given up by pushing his identity into the closet.

Lewis Aldridge (Finn Elliot) is ten years old when he goes on a picnic with his mother (Hattie Morahan) and witnesses her drowning. His emotionally distant father (Greg Wise) struggles to deal with the situation and is soon remarried, to Alice (Jessica Brown Findlay). Lewis' young and well-meaning new stepmother tries her best, but is unable to reach Lewis emotionally. In adolescence, Lewis (George MacKay) is taunted about the circumstances surrounding his mother's death and begins to self-harm. He subsequently sets the local church on fire and spends time in prison for committing arson. On his release from prison, he has increasingly complicated relationships with his stepmother, with Tamsin Carmichael (Daisy Bevan), and with Kit Carmichael (Jessica Barden). Lewis separately confronts his father and the bullying Dicky Carmichael (Nathaniel Parker), before Kit and Lewis declare their love for each other, as Lewis is leaving to complete his National Service.

Action of the picture consisting of four short stories happens in Almaty and covers three days between summer and fall of 1997 — from August 31 to September 2. Declared as records of the main character with drawings, it doesn't apply for serious research of the teenage environment — it more likely a look from within for a while which as if stopped at the birth of heroes in 1979. Eighteen-year-old Rustem, unlike the business little sister Madina, is lazy and inert, he looks at the world cold eyes, having hidden behind the indifferent relation to people around. The strange girl Miko shy tries to destroy Rustem's rest by fragile feeling of the first love. Almost all actors, screenwriters (second-year students of masterful direction of game cinema of Ardak Amirkulov), artists, operators — graduates or students of Kazakh National Academy of Arts. In the movie scenes from the performance "The Brothers Karamazov" are used. Amirkulov enters the movie in a cinema context, having remembered not only Nugmanov film "The Needle", but also Daneliya film "Walking the Streets of Moscow" and Ioseliani film "There lived a song thrush", beating through motive of the last fortieth anniversary — the city aimless wanderings of the hero behaving to finding, but coinciding often with finding of death.

After getting fired from her job by her boss Sheila, millennial Jane is unable to find stable work. So along with her best friend Lily, they hatch a plan to feign homelessness to make a quick buck; finding different, creative ways to get money from strangers. Although successful at first, when Jane befriends an actual homeless girl, Elizabeth, along with her ex-boyfriend Aaron showing up back in town to work with non-profit homeless shelters, Jane's life quickly begins to unravel.

Due to the lack of free places in Paradise, an angel sends Fantozzi back on earth thanks to an agreement under which he will resume his life as if he had never died. On earth, Fantozzi will have to face the puberty of his nephew Ughina, a deep depression caused by his andropause, the false pregnancy of Mrs. Silvani and a false accusation of corruption.

This film tells the true-life story of Yuri Nosenko, a top Soviet KGB agent who defected to the West at the height of the Cold War in 1964.

The narrator is a student from Tbilisi. Teymo's mother returns from jail where she had spent twelve years, and Teymo at twenty is thrown from hell and back again as he at last accepts her return. He falls in and out of love, invites trouble by helping an imprisoned classmate, sleeps with an accommodating lady, finds at last his true mate. Amid shouting, heckling, students and ""Party"" student meetings, seas and sunsets, drinks and talk, Teymo emerges whole, strong, outrageous, delightful, and even the death of his mother is a dedication.

The story concerns Mina Wanghen, an 18-year-old rich Prussian heiress in the 1830s with a romantic spirit and inclinations to radical political thought. She is disgusted by the love of money that she suspects motivates the many suitors who pursue her and her large dowry. When she relocates to Paris, Abbé Miossince, a worldly priest, becomes determined to convert her to Roman Catholicism and make a match between her and the Duke of Montenotte. The Duke, the son of a Napoleonic general, has a similar distaste for money, and when he hears about Mina from the Abbé, he goes off to his club and settles down with a map of Prussia. Not long afterward, the young couple meet at a ball. Stendhal did not develop the story further.

While at a rooftop gathering for their twin musician friends, roommates Allie and Harper meet two guys, Russ and Sam. After the boys announce that they will be spending the day at Fort Tilden the girls make plans to meet them and bring them molly.

The following day, after realizing that the ferries are closed, the girls decide to bike to Fort Tilden and borrow a bike from their upstairs neighbor, Ebb. They pick up the drugs from Harper's friend Benji, who mocks her for being a dilettante who only pretends to be an artist. While riding through Brooklyn Harper has them stop in front of a cheap clothing store. When Allie realizes that she has not brought a bike lock, Harper urges her to simply wrap the chain around the bikes. While standing in line they watch as a boy steals Allie's bike, but because of their hesitation whether to confront him or not he easily makes off with the bike. Harper urges Allie to leave Ebb's bike behind, which she eventually does, covering it in trash so that it will not be stolen.

The girls call a cab driver who offers to take them to Fort Tilden for a hundred dollars. While in the car Allie grows frustrated because her contact for the Peace Corps, Cabiria, keeps contacting her in order to obtain her information. Giving up on her Harper makes small talk with the driver, who is from Calcutta and mentions having been there. However, after Harper mentions what her father does they are thrown out of the car by the cabbie, who tells her her father is a horrible man and a criminal.

The girls walk the rest of the way to Fort Tilden, but upon arrival at the beach discover they are at Jacob Riis Park. Wandering around they stumble upon three abandoned kittens whom they decide to rescue. While walking Allie receives a text from Cabiria, who asks her how she is enjoying the beach and Allie realizes that Harper posted a picture of her in her bathing suit on Instagram. Frustrated, the girls abandon the kittens in a trash can, reasoning that they left them better than they found them.

As they continue to look for Fort Tilden they receive a text from the boys that they are at Jacob Riis. The girls finally return there and on their way finally pass Fort Tilden. Upon arrival at Jacob Riis they see the boys are with two girls who are topless. Reluctantly, Harper and Allie take their tops off too. Despite the fact that the sun is going down Harper pulls Russ into the water where she tries to have sex with him. Meanwhile, Allie discovers through conversation that the girls, Russ and Sam are all in high school. As the four high school friends leave Sam invites Allie to his mom's house. Allie instead goes to Harper in the water and tells her the kids are in high school.

Afterwards Allie and Harper call a cab and go back to their apartment in Williamsburg. On the way Harper calls 911 and tells the operator about the kittens in the trash can. He tells her to take them out as it is about to rain and they will drown. She hangs up on him.

At home Allie goes to see Ebb and tells him she abandoned his bike, is unwilling to get it, and will probably not be going into the Peace Corps after all. Returning to her apartment she sees Harper having a conversation with her father where she tells him she misses him and asks him how he figured out life at her age. After the conversation ends the two girls curl up with toast and listen to the latest song from their twin musician friends.

Judith and Anahí Marin-Gonzalez (Camila Hirane) are two twin sisters, who are complete opposites. Judith is a famous hairdresser, while her sister Anahí is involved with the rich. When Judith's ex, Brian (Luis Uribe), is freed from prison, she asks for help from her twin sister to escape out of the city. The day she's supposed to meet her sister, she finds Anahí dead in the bathtub. She swears vengeance and fakes her death by taking her sister's identity. She discovers that her sister made a lot of enemies and had a relationship with Alfredo Labarca-Ruiz, a famous doctor, ex-husband of Antonia (Claudia Pérez) and father of Celina Labarca (Valentina Carvajal). She wants revenge, but falls herself falling in love with her sister's fiance; meanwhile the killer is at large. One of her confidantes is Julio Chavez (Cristián Carvajal), a police officer, who keeps her secret of her true identity. Eventually, everything comes to into light and everyone finds out that Anahí is really Judith.

The film, mostly musical with very little spoken dialogue, stars Daniel MacIvor as Sid, a man returning home for the first time since his partner Andrew's death of AIDS. He turns on CBC Stereo's classical music program ''RSVP'' just as the announcer is reading a request, submitted by Andrew himself shortly before his death, to play Jessye Norman's recording of "Le Spectre de la rose" from Hector Berlioz's ''Les nuits d'été''. As the music begins, Sid reminisces about the relationship; after it ends, he calls Andrew's sister in Winnipeg to advise her to listen to the program when it airs in her time zone. His sister, in turn, notifies other family members and each relives their own memories of Andrew as they listen to the song, creating an extended community of people united in their grief as the shared experience of the music metaphorically collapses their geographic distance from each other.[http://www.mediaqueer.ca/artist/laurie-lynd Laurie Lynd] at mediaqueer.ca.

Police Lt. Michael Landers suspects that a suicide at a local flop house is not what it appears to be. When his boss doesn't share his suspicions, Landers takes a leave of absence and travels to a desert spa town in order to investigate the death. At his hotel, he strikes up a romance with the pretty cigarette counter girl, Jo Ann.

As described in a film magazine, when Elizabeth (McDowell) and Pierre Monnier (Swickard) part, the mother takes one son, Henry (Kinny), while the father takes the other, Maurie (McGrail), to Paris. Maurie shows promise as a sculptor, but his life is ruined when he marries Clarice (Carew) and she deserts him to go with Jules Chandoce, a returning soldier. When his father dies, Maurie returns to New York, but finds his mother and brother ashamed of him. He walks the street for a time and contemplates suicide, but becomes inspired after meeting artist model Hope Martin (Joy). With her posing for him he makes a figure called "Blind Youth" which makes him famous overnight. After confessing his love to Hope, he tells her of his unfortunate marriage. Clarice reappears to share Maurie's recent fortune, but, after finally realizing that his happiness means more to her than money, she confesses to him that their marriage was illegal as Chandoce really was her husband. Maurie and Hope then wed.

As described in a film magazine, following her marriage to Steven De Koven (McGrail), Muriel Chester (Barriscale) discovers his indifference towards her and the fact that she was bargained to him for social position by her ambitious parents. Unaware that he had refused a proffered financial settlement at the same time, she repulses his attempts to be agreeable and lives in independence of his companionship. He seeks to console himself with Tina Pierce (Barriscale), a young woman of the slums, and establishes her in luxury to find that he cannot, after all, be interested only in the wife for whom he realizes a belated affection. Despaired of untangling their problematic existence, he decides to go abroad, only to be deterred by the forgiving and understanding wife, whom Tina had made clear the situation between them.

The hero of this book, Kvachi Kvachantiradze, is a thoroughly scurrilous rogue but, like many a literary rogue, a charming one. He charms us and he charms the people he meets, who seem to be not only unaware of his treachery but even thank him for his help. The book starts with the day of his birth, an auspicious day. There is a heavy thunderstorm. A tree is broken in two by lightning and the only other inn in town, a rival of the inn of Kvachi's father, Silibistro, is destroyed. The baby Kvachi is born already uttering the word me. A fortune teller forecasts that he will be a great man, get what he wants and bring fortune to his family. Apart from a brief digression about how his parents came to marry (they are cousins), we immediately follow Kvachi's early life. He is a very precocious child, walking and talking early, and helping in his parents' inn.

Silibistro is snobbish and is certain that he descends from nobles but cannot prove it. He spends a fortune on doing so, till he finally gets a man to issue him with a certificate of nobility. The man is a notorious swindler but Silibistro is happy with his certificate and becomes even more snobbish. Kvachi is sent to Kutaisi (the second largest city in Georgia) to study and it is here that he develops his sharp ways. He stays with a couple, he an elderly man, she, Tsviri, much younger. As they do not have a child of their own, Tsviri starts mothering him but, as he gets older, mothering becomes loving and he becomes her lover, for which she gives him gifts. Little does she know that she is not the first but she soon finds out that he sees (and is paid by) other women. Kvachi is very astute with money. He borrows at an opportune moment, promising to repay promptly but, of course, never does. When someone is short, he offers to lend them money but never does.

From earning money as a gigolo, Kvachi and his friends, soon upgrade to extortion and are indifferent as to whom they extort from, including poor widows. Eventually, he makes enough money to get his parents a house, while he moves off to Odessa, nominally to study law. He does start studying but, as Javakhishvili points out, Georgians are easily distracted and lazy and all they really want to do is to carouse, which they do. He still carries on his various methods of extortion, becoming more sophisticated in his approach.

Women continue to be his weak spot. He falls in love with Mme Lapoche (i.e. French for The Pocket) and gives her many presents but she and her husband are smarter than Kvachi. He tries selling stoves and then insurance (which, of course, leads to an insurance scam.) The gang moves to St Petersburg, where he has more trouble with women, almost raping a young woman who resists his charms. He even manages to meet Rasputin but is then horrified, when his latest girlfriend would rather sleep with Rasputin than with him. However, he gains Rasputin's confidence and thus access to the Tsar, which allows hm to perpetrate a whole range of scams.

Soon he is off again, travelling around Europe - to Warsaw, Vienna, Paris and ending up in London, where money and scams keep him busy. By the start of World War I, he is back in Russia where we learn, though history has kept silent about it, he is responsible for killing Rasputin and starting both the February and October Russian revolutions. He joins the Reds and the Whites, sometimes both on the same day. It is not surprising that the Soviets objected to this book. He becomes much involved in both revolutions though not forgetting to make large sums of money for himself. Inevitably, things do not always go well.

In a make-believe, middle-european kingdom, a vivacious but dim nation young lady works as a singer in a beer garden for her lease cash. In the mean time, the Ruler is confronting bankruptcy for his small country, unless he weds a wealthy but undesirable Ruler of another Middle-European territory. Eventually he takes in the struggling young singer, and they fall in love, despite possible bankruptcy and ruin.

A superhero battles a madman who is plotting to steal uranium as part of a plan to take over the world.

In the movie, Superargo battles Faceless Giants. One of his friends wants to kill Superargo.

The northern end of the border is a tripoint it forms with those at the Argentina–Bolivia border and the Bolivia-Chile border in the arid Puna de Atacama plateau. The border extends south until reaching the sea at the same place the Strait of Magellan meets the Atlantic Ocean. Further south the border on the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego follows a meridian separating the island into two. This boundary reaches the sea at Beagle Channel a few kilometers southwest of Ushuaia.

In November 1984 the southern border area was finally established after long negotiations and mediation of John Paul II by the Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1984 between Chile and Argentina, a perpetual treaty, signed at the Vatican by representatives of both countries.

On 16 December 1998, an agreement between Argentina and Chile was signed to set the border line from Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Daudet and finish with the historical dispute. However both countries didn't agree in the section between Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Murallón, and the border is still pending to be defined.

In Poland in the summer of 1939 there was the deepest peace. The place of action is initially an ordinary Warsaw apartment building. The tenants are of different nature and social background. There is, for example, the enterprising Bronek, then young Władek, son of a Polish officer with great reservations and prejudices against Jews, then Fredek, the devious son of the pub owner Kusmirek, the small Jewish boy David Libermann with grandfather, and young Hedwig, whose Father the wealthy doctor Dr. Bialek is. There are the normal quarrels, little pranks and the usual house gossip. The peace comes to an abrupt end when the German Wehrmacht invades the Polish capital. Suddenly everything changes overnight, the Polish residents are harassed, their Jewish fellow citizens are persecuted and arrested. Some of them want to somehow come to terms with the new rulers and circumstances, others clench their fists in their pockets and others have to go into hiding as soon as they are wanted.

The old Jew Libermann, himself highly endangered, hides the Jew-hater and officer Kazimierz Wojtan, Wladek's father, who has hitherto been bold and haughty. When this is discovered, the soldier is shot. The Libermanns are forced to leave their home and move to the Warsaw ghetto, which was specially set up for the Jewish population. Bronek tries to help them there as best he can. Kusmirek tries to make friends with the "new gentlemen" and curry favor with them at every opportunity. He even puts his own son in the garb of a Hitler Youth. When the characterless bartender at Dr. Białek discovered Jewish roots, he immediately denounced him to the Gestapo. He promises to be able to take over his apartment. In fact, the doctor is picked up and deported to the ghetto, where he eventually perishes. Finally, in 1943, there was an uprising against the German occupiers. David and Hedwig take the opportunity to flee from the Germans through the sewers. Bronek and Władek help them in a crucial way. But David wants to go back to the ghetto, to fight the Nazis side by side with his brothers, gun in hand. For this fight, Władek presented him with the gun of his anti-Semitic father, who had been shot.

The young, round and lovely Nina is married to Gaspard, who, unfortunately, rather likes very thin women. The couple move to Paris and Nina is preparing to launch a sophisticated line of swimwear. Because of her love for her husband, Nina accepts his ambiguous gift: a slimming treatment at Brides-les-Bains, considered "the last hope of the fat". There, she makes two flamboyant friends. Sophie, a lawyer from Marseille who likes to control everything, including herself. Émilie is a caregiver whose weight has begun to affect her health and her love life yet her motto remains, "Big is beautiful".

In Camelot

The Storybrooke residents are welcomed with open arms in Camelot, and King Arthur and Queen Guinevere announce that they will throw a ball for their guests. In the meantime, they find that Merlin has been imprisoned in a tree, and the only person who can free him, according to Merlin's prophecy, is the Savior. However, the Storybrooke transplants worry that Emma will become darker if she uses her magic, so Regina lies to King Arthur and says that she is the true Savior. Regina and Emma search Merlin's tower for clues, but come up empty and are running out of time as the evening's ball is approaching. Prior the dance, Percival visits Regina and woos her with a necklace to wear and she puts it on, but later decides that she cannot go to the ball, claiming that she needs to continue her research to free Merlin. When she later admits that she does not know how to dance, Mary Margaret helps her find a suitable gown while David teaches her how to dance.

That evening at the ball, everyone makes their grand entrances and the couples dance. Henry has developed a crush on a girl named Violet and, after encouragement from David, introduces himself and shares his iPod Nano with Violet. Leroy is able to convince Belle to stop worrying about Rumpelstiltskin and gets her to join the dance. However, the event is about to end early when Percival reveals that he had witnessed Regina slaughter his entire family as a child. He also reveals that he knows that she is the Evil Queen and not the Savior, a fact he confirmed earlier by observing her through the enchanted necklace, and that he kept all of this from Arthur because he would have prevented him from killing Regina. Percival tries to kill Regina, but Robin steps in and fights him, only to be stabbed in the process before David kills Percival. Regina is desperate to save Robin, but her magic does not work due to an enchantment spell placed on Percival's sword. This prompts Regina to ask Emma to help save Robin by using her magic, but Hook does not want Emma to trigger her dark side. Meanwhile, King Arthur does not blame them for Percival's death, saying that his action was inexcusable, and admits that he suspected Regina's identity, but says that Camelot is a place of second chances. He later confesses to Guinevere that he thinks that there is something suspicious about the new arrivals, but he has to trust them, as they are his only hope of freeing Merlin and finding the missing piece of Excalibur. Emma eventually decides to help Regina despite the risk, but the magic triggers her vision of Rumpelstiltskin, who warns her that a price has to be paid if she saves Robin's life. Emma ignores the manifestation and uses her magic to save Robin, but in the process it triggers the darkness in her, as forewarned by Hook, with Emma's hand beginning to resemble that of a Dark One.

In Storybrooke

The new curse has the residents becoming more fearful of Emma, and the Dwarfs attempt to escape the town; Dopey steps over the town line and is immediately turned into a tree. Back in town, Hook asks Belle for advice on how to deal with loving Emma, who is now the Dark One. Belle tells Hook, "It's far easier to hate the Dark One than it is to love one." At the marina, Henry summons Emma and apologizes for whatever happened in Camelot; Emma explains she doesn't blame ''him''. Regina finds them, tells Henry to get far away from Emma, then tries to convince her that she could save Storybrooke; Emma strongly disagrees.

The residents of Storybrooke discover that Arthur and the Camelot empire has been transported back with them, and David admits to Arthur that Emma had been the Dark One all along. While Robin is working in the woods, helping the displaced Arthurians, he is grabbed by a ghostly, winged entity and taken away.

Meanwhile, a lonely Hook summons Emma because he loves her too much to stay away. Emma brings Hook to her new house, where he notices a locked door. Emma then attempts to seduce Hook; but when true love's kiss fails to break the darkness's hold on her, he rejects her. Emma is mad that he cannot accept her for who she is now, and he is equally angry at her for keeping what happened at Camelot a secret, though Emma tells him that giving it away would be "no fun."

Belle has learned that the monster that took Robin was a Fury. Someone had used magic in Camelot to save Robin and did not pay the price, which is a life, and the monster has arrived to collect Robin's soul as payment. It will return to the Underworld when the moon reaches its zenith, but can be stopped if someone gives their life in his place. Regina confronts Emma, believing that she had summoned the Fury, but Emma reveals that Regina was the one responsible for its appearance. That night near the pond, the Fury begins pulling out Robin's soul, and Charon the boatman appears as the moon reaches its zenith. Regina sacrifices herself for Robin, and is joined by Mary Margaret, David, Leroy and Arthur. As all five band together, they successfully pull Robin from the Fury (and since the price of a single soul was equally divided among them), which disappears back into the underworld with Charon. While everyone celebrates this latest victory at Granny's, a worried Mary Margaret notes that if they win, Emma will lose. At Granny's, Henry introduces himself to Violet again and shows her what a jukebox is, and plays the same song he had played in Camelot, which, somehow, seems familiar to her. At her house, Emma opens the locked door and goes downstairs, at the behest of Rumplestiltskin's manifestation, revealing the stone with the sword Excalibur in it. Rumplestiltskin, the manifestation of her darkness, says that she can make it whole again and use it to vanquish all of the light forever. Emma tries to pull the sword from the stone but fails, being repelled by the sword's magic. After this failed attempt, the Dark One taunts her, and tells her that in order to complete the task, she will have to pay the price, and it will cost someone dearly.

When the infamous hacker Drew Reynolds is captured by the CIA, he is faced with a choice. Either to spend his life in jail or work for them. Reynolds agrees to work for the CIA should he be able to form his own squad team called the “Throwaways.” This team was seen as expendable and deemed the worst in the whole organization.

The film opens with lone wolf patriot and black hat hacker Drew Reynolds living in solitude and doing what he does best: hacking anyone he feels is a threat to America and the free world, including various jihadist and other terrorist organizations and militia groups. His friend in cybersecurity, Erik, alerts him that the CIA has tracked him down and though he manages to briefly elude them, he is captured. Upon meeting with him, Agents Holden (a former mentor of Drew) and Connelly offer him a deal: spend 30 years to life in prison or work for them to catch an even greater threat. An unidentified hacker has somehow managed to tap into Chicago's power grid using a volatile program known as "Pantheon" and shut it down completely thanks to a special encryption key that allows him access to the entire Internet and World Wide Web and beyond. If this device gets into the wrong hands, the entire world will be at the mercy of any number of terrorists, most likely the highest bidder. Offered a deal where he could forego a possible life sentence if he agrees to use his expertise to locate this hacker, Drew accepts in exchange for total immunity on one condition: he picks the team of experts he will be working with.

Over the reservations of Connelly and Holden, Drew picks three agents who had been deemed as "Throwaways" based on their lack of success or other factors: Dan Fisher, a short tempered and violence-prone ex-agent who's been relegated to basement duty; Gloria Miller, a "swallow" agent who successfully seduces her marks but is nonetheless not taken seriously by her cohorts; and Dmitri Stanislav, a cowardly ex-KGB agent with a history of deserting his comrades (including Fisher at one point) on dangerous missions. As the mission progresses the team are able to learn that the hacker in question is Teebs, a young anarchist who intends to sell the key on the black market to the highest bidder, who ends up being a pro-Soviet Russian defector named Olag Konstantin. It is also revealed that Drew faked the algorithm process by which he chose his team; he simply read their files and selected them based on their shoddy records hoping that the mission would end in failure. With his immunity deal having already been signed, Drew could then go back to working alone. The others discover this following an assassination attempt on Holden, after which Connelly disbands the team but commends them for proving far more successful than he'd previously thought they would be. Furious, Fisher, Gloria, and Dmitri leave in a huff.

Shortly after, a failed raid to apprehend Teebs's and Konstantin's broker results in Connelly and his team being killed. Drew has Erik pull up everything he can on Teebs while at the same time, Holden identifies one of the assassins who murdered Connelly and his team as Bes, a chameleon agent posing as Teebs's girlfriend who is under Konstantin's employ. Shortly afterward, Teebs reactivates Pantheon at Konstantin's order, causing Bulgaria to experience total blackout. Thanks to Erik's help, Drew is able to locate Teebs and after an apology followed by a rousing pep talk, he and Holden are able to convince their former team members to return and finish the mission.

Once the team is back together, they sneak into Konstantin's headquarters. Drew finds Teebs and tries to convince him to hand over the key. Teebs attacks him instead, but drops the key when Drew shoots him, destroying it and forcing Drew to bypass the hardwired encryption in order to restore Bulgaria's power and prevent a lethal gas valve failure. Gloria, Fisher, and Dmitri take on Konstantin and his men in a lengthy and caper-filled confrontation. Gloria manages to kill Bes while Dmitri and Fisher are able to take out Konstantin and the soldiers with an RPG launcher.

Their mission a success, Drew is made an official CIA agent under Holden's command and is teamed up with the now fully reestablished agents before they eagerly head out on their next mission. Meanwhile, a post-credits scene shows Teebs retrieving another Pantheon key from a strongbox in an unknown location.

Stan has to reveal his past to Dipper and Mabel, along with the secrets of his twin brother, Stanford "Ford" Pines. Stan's real name is actually Stanley Pines: thirty years ago Ford constructed the portal but was trapped inside it due to a mishap with Stanley, his estranged con-artist brother. Stanley assumed his brother's identify as "Stanford Pines", and spent the next thirty years trying to fix the portal to get Ford back. He was finally able to reactivate the portal after the kids discovered Ford's missing journals. In the end, the agents leave after having their memories erased, and Stanford decides to live in the underground lab under the Mystery Shack. Grunkle Stan makes him promise he will leave the kids alone after being told that he would have to leave the Mystery Shack at the end of the summer.

Season 1

The collapse of a great national bank triggers the clash of two realities. And the conflict between two families.

''Luís Miguel'' (Lourenço Ortigão) is a young engineer who seeks to build a career in Angola. He leaves behind a traditional and conservative family, one that has been affected by the crisis. His father, ''Jorge'' (José Wallenstein), owns a construction firm in Portugal which is at risk of filing for bankruptcy and his mother, ''Pilar'' (Alexandra Lencastre), expects to make money from a broken marriage.

''Luís Miguel'' meets ''Mara'' (Ana Sofia Martins) in Angola, the nurse who saves him from near death. The girl’s father, ''Norberto'' (Ângelo Torres), is an Angolan businessman who has significant investments in Portugal and he is also the construction firm’s number one client. He holds the company’s fate in his hands but he bears a deep grudge against the Portuguese, since his father was murdered by one during the Colonial war. The legacy of this past and his current interests turn a corporate dispute into a clash of two worlds.

Yet nothing can survive the revenge of one woman. ''Luena'' (Rita Pereira) is the daughter of two returnees who lost everything when Angola gained its independence. She wants to get the estate back for her family above all else. Including above herself and her friend Miriam.

Season 2

One year later, ''Mara'' and ''Luís Miguel'''s twin babies take their first steps.

Before dying, ''Cândida'' (Laurinda Chiungue) shows ''Vita'' (Maura Faial) her birth certificate which reveals that her real mother is still alive and working in ''Norberto Venâncio'''s house. At first, ''Neuza'' (Mina Andala) does not believe in it. Later, she apologizes to her daughter and shows its willingness to be her mother. But ''Vita'' is not quite what she seems; along with ''César'' (Pêpê Rapazote), pediatrician, the duo arrives to haunt and destabilize the life of ''Mara'' and ''Luís Miguel''. ''Vita'' starts working as nanny of the twin babies and quietly seduces ''Luís Miguel''. Betrayal is a matter of time...

With her face disfigured and attached to a wheelchair, ''Pilar'' does not conform to her life. Apart from having been deceived and robbed by ''António'' (Pedro Carmo), ''Luís Miguel'' does not forgive how much harm she did to separate him from ''Mara''. The whole family turn their back and she attempts suicide. Her children become worried and ''Luís Miguel'', along with ''Mara'', tries to prevent his mother's madness. In fact, ''Pilar'' will not facilitate the live of her children and daughter in law. ''Leandro'' (Freddy Costa) is her physiotherapist and will try everything for her to not lose hope of walking again one day, forming an unlikely friendship between her and a black race man, something she despised.

Unable to overcome the death of her fiancé, ''Sara'' (Joana de Verona) closes herself in ''Diogo'''s house and gets drunk every day. Concerned about the follies of his daughter, ''António'' recruits ''Tânia'' and ''Radu'' to follow and watch over her. At that time, ''Sara'' and ''Leandro'' know each other and the two engage in a romance also unlikely. But the self destructive stage of Sara will destabilize their love.

''Norberto'' remains in prison and is threatened and beaten several times. ''Ramiro'', also in the same prison, will try to save the Angolan businessman of problems, but ends up being stabbed. ''António'' tries at all costs to end ''Norberto'''s life in prison, but one of his hitman is killed and the evidences against ''Norberto'' are absolved.

Now out of prison, ''Norberto'' promises revenge and will not return alone, joining forces with ''Pilar'' to reclaim what was his and end with ''António'''s life.

Businessman Cole Porter buys cattle from ranchers only to kill them later and recover the money that he paid them. His scheme begins to unravel when one rancher (The Arizonian) survives being wounded. Kay Moore finds The Arizonian and cares for him at her home until her father becomes the next victim. Moore suspects The Arizonian of being the culprit. He flees and joins Mexican outlaw Emilio Vasquez to capture Porter and reveal him as the true criminal.

Bayard Thatcher, the black sheep of a storied family, has announced that he will leave for good provided the others pay him $25,000. Unfortunately, they are not that liquid at the moment, due to lingering effects of the Great Depression. That night, Thatcher is shot in his bed but only wounded. As he recovers, his doctor and nurse try to discern his assailant's identity while also protecting him from any attempts to finish the job.

In Warsaw, December 1945, a nun known as Sister Teresa approaches a young French female student doctor, Mathilde Beaulieu, serving with an army unit. She says there are sick women in need and is not satisfied with a referral to the Polish Red Cross.

Beaulieu decides to go at night to the nun's convent, where one woman has given birth. The Mother Superior tells her that the nun was thrown out by her family and was taken in out of charity. Beaulieu tells the Mother Superior (Abbess) that she works for the French Red Cross.

A novice nun at the convent is grieving the death of another nun. Confined to her cell, she engages in morning prayer.

Later the Abbess discloses to Beaulieu that several nuns at the convent were raped by Russian soldiers, relating that the experience was nightmarish, and they wish to keep this a secret. Seven of the nuns are pregnant. Some of the pregnant nuns are reluctant to be examined intimately by the doctor, believing this will violate their vow of chastity. One of the nuns confesses to Mother Superior that her faith has been deeply shaken by these events.

Soldiers come to the convent believing the nuns are harboring an enemy soldier. However, Beaulieu convinces them she is there to deal with an emergency outbreak of typhus. The Mother Superior is badly shaken by the threat of the soldiers, and thanks the doctor for her presence of mind. Beaulieu realizes that she too was raped. The Mistress of Novices, Sister Maria, tells the doctor that every day she is reminded of these harsh events. She relates how faith has become more difficult for her but it is the cross she bears.

When Beaulieu returns to headquarters, her boss chastises her for having been away without leave. He says that the military is a place of order and discipline.

At a later visit at the convent, Beaulieu is present when another novice nun gives birth unexpectedly. This nun had not realized she was pregnant, and does not seem to know she has given birth. The Abbess had given orders that she be notified of all births, but Beaulieu requests that she not be notified immediately. The doctor needs to focus on care for the newborn. A different nun, Sister Zofia, takes responsibility for the child.

Beaulieu asks the Mistress of Novices if she ever regrets her life as a nun. The novice replies, "Faith is 24 hours of doubt with one minute of hope", going on to describe her difficulties with the practice.

Beaulieu returns to the army medical unit, and discovers the unit is going to be transferred out of the area.

Several nuns are about to give birth at once. Beaulieu returns to the convent with a male Jewish colleague. She assures the nuns that he will keep their secret. The doctor visits the baby whose existence has been kept secret from the Abbess. The Mistress of Novices plans to take the baby to Zofia's family, but the baby is discovered by the abbess. The Abbess is upset that she was lied to and tells the Mistress of Novices that she has been corrupted by "that French woman", who has brought scandal and disorder to the convent. The Mistress of Novices replies, "Forgive me, but scandal and disorder were already here".

The Mother Superior has been telling everyone that she takes the babies to families who have agreed to adopt, but she abandons this baby in front of a crucifix on a country walking path, after baptizing it. Zofia is distraught, knowing the child is missing. The Mother Superior privately prays that she have the courage to continue on the path she has chosen. Meanwhile, Sister Zofia commits suicide by jumping from an upper ledge, dying shortly after her wounded body is discovered.

When the Mistress of Novices goes to Zofia's family to report her death, she discovers that Zofia's aunt never knew Zofia had a child, nor that she had been caring for another baby. The Mistress of Novices decides to not tell the aunt the truth. This is the Mistress of Novices' first realization that the Abbess has been dishonest about the fate of the babies. She confronts the Abbess demanding the truth. She says she entrusted the child to God, saying "Don't you believe in Providence?"

At the medical base, Mathilde Beaulieu is getting ready to finally leave the area. The Mistress of Novices brings three babies to the base to protect them from the Abbess. Beaulieu notices that many orphans living on the street have been helping personnel at the base from time to time. It occurs to her that the nuns could start raising many of these children and open an orphanage, thus avoiding questions about where the babies are coming from. One of the nuns decides to leave the convent and raise her own child, and another decides to leave, but allow her baby to be raised by the nuns.

The final scene is three months later, with a photographer at the convent taking pictures of the nuns and happy orphans.

In the Municipality of Estremoz, in the Alentejo, five children, adopted by the Alentejo patriarch Emílio Belmonte (António Capelo), manage a business group named ''Belmonte'', owner of companies in the business of winemaking, oils, marble exploration, hunting tourism, and financial investments and real estate.

The Belmonte family is linked to the ancient history of the region, but Emílio, the last descendant of the family, married Clarisse, a woman who could not have children and, as such, to the survival of the name, the couple had to adopt children. Each of the four older brothers, João (Filipe Duarte), José (João Catarré), Pedro (Diogo Amaral) and Carlos (Marco D'Almeida), is responsible, respectively, for one of the business areas, while Lucas (Lourenço Ortigão), the youngest, was studying photography in London. Business, despite the crisis, is stable and family harmony is evident, continuing the five brothers to live together in the family's homestead.

While in the Alentejo are made some preparations for the engagement between João and Julieta (Carla Galvão) - daughter of another older family from the region, but bankrupt, the Milheiro family - in Brazil, Emílio is with Sofia (Manuela Couto) and her daughter, Paula (Graziella Schmitt), revealing that Emílio has another family.

Sofia was Emílio's lover and became pregnant at the time ''Clarisse'' was ill with terminal cancer. Because Sofia refused to abort, Emílio paid her to move to Brazil where she gave birth to Paula, who nobody ever told was the daughter of an extramarital relationship growing with the false story that the father spends most of his time in Portugal because of business, in hope to one day sell it to reform in Brazil and stay with his Brazilian family.

After a day of happiness «in family», on his farm in the Pantanal (Brazil), Emílio returns to Portugal, leaving Paula in tears, as always, in time to say goodbye. What she doesn't know is that she is saying goodbye to her father forever. On the way to the airport, Emílio sees what appears to be a road accident and decides to stop to help. But what appeared to be an accident is actually a fatal ambush for Emílio planned by his son Carlos.

Novelist Soso (Ramaz Giorgobiani) goes to his publishing house in an attempt to find someone interested in publishing his latest manuscript. The employees shuffle the author's manuscript around their office from person to person, but everyone seems to be too busy to actually read it. Soso ultimately discovers that the employees are wrapped up in anything but their direct duties and responsibilities so much that not even a giant structural flaw in the building can get their attention. The movie is an allegory of Soviet-time bureaucracy and Soviet system as a whole. At the end of the film, the house collapses and the employees move to another, brand new and modern building. However, that does not mean they change their attitude towards their work ...

Emma is a talented artist haunted by the presence of a childhood imaginary friend, called Lilly, which she created as a way to protect herself from her father's abuse, who killed her mother before committing suicide. She inherits a fortune in a trust on condition that she remains married. Her husband, Brad, a psychiatrist, uses this imaginary friend from her childhood to drive her mad, so she may be committed to a mental institution, staying married, but with free access to the trust without the burden of a wife. His mistress Molly, who is also his assistant, is in the plot and helps him. Brad seems to be a caring husband to everybody, but he lies to Emma's doctor, Dr. Kent, and says Emma hurts herself to have her institutionalized faster. He also has Emma take more and more pills.

Eventually Lilly appears as an adult woman, and shows a supportive attitude to Emma, and even though Emma tries to make her disappear she's unsuccessful. She starts confiding in Lilly and realizes her presence is what makes her feel better. Brad knows Emma still sees Lilly, even though she denies it, so he speaks with the hospital staff to have Emma institutionalized as soon as possible, and signs a new power from attorney to continue having access to Emma's trust. One night, Emma has prepared dinner and tells Brad she killed Lilly, much to his horror. He interrogates her and asks her how the murder occurred. Brad starts getting paranoid taking Emma's medication, trying to contact a woman called Brittany, who was one of his patients two years ago, and with whom he had an affair. He calls Brittany but she never answers her phone , looks for her at her home but the landowner explains there is no one with that name living there. Even her file is not in his office.

At the end it turns out Lilly was working with Emma, posing as Brittany to make it look like, it is Brad, not Emma, the one who needs professional help. Their plan is successful and Brad is the one who gets institutionalized. Lilly and Emma reaffirm their friendship, promising to be friends forever.

Two women find out they are sisters in the worst possible way and, from that moment on, engage in a constant conflict.

''Alice'' (Sara Matos) wants ''Rita'' s life. Lucky and Squash are neighbors separated by a fence that prevents them from playing together. Lucky's owner, Mr. Bernard, and Squash's owner, Miss Violet, are both single and have never spoken to each other because they are so shy. Lucky and Squash decide to run away hoping that, when their owners come rescue them, the two owners will meet, fall in love, and get married, thereby making the dogs "brothers" and allowing them to play together whenever they wish. Lucky and Squash escape from their respective yards three days in a row and go on adventures. The owners do meet and fall in love.

In a Cornish village during World War II, a German Nazi uses the disguise of a headless ghost to strike fear into the local tin mine workers.

Posing as a man the British Army has rejected for active duty, a mining engineer, Dr. Frederick Holmes (Lester Matthews), takes a week-long walking trip through Cornwall. The first time that we see Dr. Holmes, he is tramping about the foggy moors after dark and catches a ride with a peddler (Harold De Becker) to Morgan's Head. He wants to know why local miners refuse to work a tin mine that could yield a valuable asset to the English war effort. Holmes learns that the villagers are not working the mine because they fear the ghost of a headless man who haunts the moors and the mine.

Eventually, the engineer exposes the ghost as a hoax. As it turns out, the village benefactor, Sir Harry Leland (John Loder), has been masquerading as the headless ghost. Sir Harry explains that he is the offspring of German nobility who settled in England in the days of King George to supervise other Germans in the tin mines of Cornwall. He has turned the superstitious fears of the villagers against them to keep the mine out of operation. Sir Harry shoots a simple-minded villager who rushes him. He attacks Holmes, they struggle, and Sir Harry falls onto his knife and dies.

Special agent Tom Dollar investigates the mysterious death of the Iranian prince Barancan.

The father of a missing scientist hires a renowned detective to find his son and a valuable secret formula.

Choi Young-Jin (Kim Hee-ae) is a female detective squad chief. She also raises her daughter Ha-Eun. At work, she deals with brutal crimes with her senior detective Park Jong-Ho (Kim Min-jong) and squad members Min Do-Young (Lee Da-hee), Han Jin-Woo (Son Ho-jun), Jo Jae-Deok (Heo Jung-do) and Lee Se-Won (Lee Gi-kwang).

Audie Palmer escapes from a Texas jail the day before the end of his ten-year sentence for armed robbery and second-degree murder. His friend Moss Webster is mysteriously released from the same prison and told to find Palmer and, if possible, the money missing from the robbery of the armoured van; money that has never been recovered.

In 1654 in Greece under Ottoman rule, a solitary janissary collapses from his wounds outside an isolated Orthodox monastery for women. The nuns take him in and one with medical skills, Areti, tends him with the help of another, the young and shy Anthi. Both are fascinated by the presence of a man and, as he recovers, Areti starts an affair with him while Anthi has conflicting emotions. Learning that he is a deserter with a price on his head, the nuns realise that they dare not hide him and inform the authorities. As a contingent of soldiers arrives to collect him, Anthi escapes with him and the two go on the run. In the woods, a dark secret comes out. Anthi is in fact a boy, who was hidden in the monastery to avoid the devsirme, the kidnapping of Orthodox children by the Ottomans as recruits for the army. Initially disgusted, the soldier slowly builds up a comradeship with the gauche lad but one day they are recaptured. Anthi is taken back to the monastery, where Areti is pregnant and hangs herself in despair. Anthi runs away and rejoins the janissary, who has killed his captors. The two go off into the woods again.

Ruth Bennett has inherited an old house in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in the Amish country, and left her career behind as a secretary at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She moves into the home with her niece, a young woman named Sara Dunning. The house was built during the Revolutionary era and is said to be haunted by the spirits of its original inhabitants who are disinclined towards hospitality, among them the war General Douglas Campbell, who was suspected of being involved with British enemies, and his daughter Amanda "Ammie", who disappeared after eloping with her boyfriend Anthony.

Ruth and Sara soon meet Pat McDougal, a local professor who lives next-door. While Ruth and Sara entertain a small gathering, including Pat and one of his students, Stan, one of the guests propose that they hold a séance in the house. Later that night, Ruth has a bizarre nightmare in which Sara approaches her in the garden, only to grow inexplicably terrified and flee in the other direction. When Ruth awakens, she finds a frightened Sara downstairs, having found an historic portrait of the General Campbell impaled on a firepoker in front of the fireplace.

Pat and several guests, including medium Sylvia Wall, arrive at the home for the séance. In the kitchen, Pat aggressively forces himself on Ruth, which frightens her. During the séance, Sara begins to scream, and the painting of General Campbell falls from the mantle. That night, Ruth is awoken by Sara in another hysterical state, during which she attacks and attempts to strangle her. When Ruth consults Pat about Sara's behavior, he suspects she is suffering from schizophrenia. Sara returns in the midst of their conversation, and initially appears normal, but quickly becomes transfixed in front of the fireplace, and begins screaming for help before suddenly losing consciousness. Pat suggests Sara be taken to a psychiatric hospital, but Stan objects, and reveals that, during the séance the day before, he witnessed the face of another woman on Sara's body.

Stan suspects Sara is experience spirit possession, which also may explain Pat's uncharacteristic behavior toward Ruth in the kitchen. Later, outside the house, Ruth, Pat, and Stan hear a man repeatedly calling, "Ammie! Come home!" Inside, they find Sara again in a distressed state. Stan begins to investigate diaries and other artifacts in the home's attic, and soon experiences supernatural incidents himself. Upon further research of historical records, the group deduce that the General Campbell murdered Anthony and Ammie the night they attempted to elope, and that their spirits have been taking possession of Pat's and Sara's bodies.

The group consult Sylvia to hold another séance to exorcise the spirits from Sara and Pat, which results in violent poltergeist activity that sends Sylvia fleeing in terror. While further exploring the house, Stan finds a boarded passageway in the basement. Shortly after, Pat becomes momentarily possessed by Anthony, and Sara, by Ammie. Seeking to stop the events once and for all, Ruth, Pat, Sara, and Stan convene again at the house, and break through the basement wall. Inside, they find a dirt-walled room with a shovel. Stan begins to dig, and soon recovers human bones, along with an old firepoker—the murder weapon the General used to kill Ammie and Anthony before burying them in the basement. Moments later, Pat becomes possessed by the General, and attempts to attack the possessed Sara, but he stops when Ammie—speaking through Sara's body—tells him his crime has been uncovered. Now, with the truth revealed, the spirits leave Pat and Sara's respective bodies.

Americans arrive at their hotel in Cuba in a car, to make a movie. Romantic complications ensue while the cast and crew attempt to finish the movie.

As a cover for his true government mission, British intelligence agent Leo Marzell (Leo Carrillo) sponsors a scientific expedition led by Dr. David Lynd (Don Terry) to find a source for a wonder drug in the jungles of the South Pacific. When Lynd agrees to the expedition over the objections of his aviator fiancée Jane Claymore (Louise Allbritton), she breaks the engagement but secretly follows him to the island. Claymore attempts to halt Lynd's expedition so they can be married, but makes the mistake of recruiting Axis espionage agent Zambesi (Edgar Barrier) to help her. Native islander Tagani (Turhan Bey) is sent by Zambesi to murder Lynd, and sets loose a tiger that injures Marzell. Most of Lynd's guides are attacked by crocodiles, but one survives to kill Tagani. Claymore ends up saving Marzall, Lynd and the remainder of the expedition by contacting the Royal Air Force which sends a rescue squad.

Harry Cox is having sex in his car with his mistress, Lisa. After Lisa exits the car, his wife Alex calls him and chastises him on the phone. After he hangs up, his throat is slashed, and Lisa is also murdered.

Twelve-year-old Sam is invited to a sleepover at classmate Sofia Cox's mansion in Connecticut. Sam finds herself embarrassed by her lack of wealth amongst her rich and privileged classmates. Also at the sleepover are Francesca, Ava, and Georgie. Another girl, Cat White, is being driven to the house by her father, Dr. White; it is established that Cat is suffering psychological problems and has been in trouble for bullying the girls.

The girls engage in a pretend fashion show, incessantly posting photos of themselves on social media with their smartphones. Cat arrives, and Alex allows the girls into her walk-in safe where numerous pieces of jewelry and clothing are stored. She then leaves to go into town for a twelve-step meeting.

As the night goes on, the girls, each consumed by their cell phones, begin to fight with one another. Cat instigates a confrontation and taunts Georgie about her weight, and Sofia forces her to leave. Cat storms into the woods, where she attempts to call her father to pick her up. She begins tagging Georgie in a stream of cruel photos on Facebook; the girls collectively decide to lock their cell phones in the safe to avoid Cat's cyberbullying, and Sofia throws the keys to the safe in the house's swimming pool.

After Dr. White receives a frantic voicemail from Cat, he returns to the house and interrogates the girls about his daughter's whereabouts. He tells the girls he is going to press charges. Sam goes to search for Cat in the woods, and finds Sofia's father's car parked, with blood across the windshield. She returns to the house panicked, but the girls do not believe her.

Georgie and Francesca begin to taunt Sofia about her mother's alleged affair with Dr. White, and she leaves. In the woods, Sofia also stumbles upon her father's car, and finds his corpse inside. She calls her mother; Alex answers, believing it to be her husband, and angrily yells into the phone about his cheating and hangs up. Sofia takes a revolver from the car and flees. At the house, Sam stumbles upon Ava's dead body, and is attacked by a masked assailant. She goes to retrieve the safe key from the pool to get the girls' cell phones back.

Georgie has her throat slashed; Francesca is also stabbed to death. Both of their deaths are streamed on the Internet, and photos of their bodies posted online. Sam retrieves the key and opens the safe, but is attacked again, and locks herself inside. On her phone, she finds photos and video of her friends' murders posted on a social media game by Cat. Dr. White returns to the house, and finds Georgie's body. Sam tells him that Cat has killed Ava and Georgie; Cat emerges and unmasks herself. Believing that Dr. White murdered her father, Sofia shoots him to death. Witnessing this, Cat flees; Sofia then learns that Cat is the murderer.

Sam leaves the house to get help. She encounters Cat on the road, wearing the mask. Alex arrives and witnesses Cat shoot herself in the mouth, killing herself. The film ends with a montage of photos of the murders, followed by a video uploaded by Cat, in which she professes her revenge against the girls, and says that she will "be remembered forever."

The film follows a Christian family of four who live peacefully in purposeful isolation. The children, Eva and Zac, are able to teleport short distances, provided they can see where they are going. They use their powers for fun as they chase each other around the farm and drop into the lake. A large wall surrounds the family property. Their father, Daniel, is a stern disciplinarian who forbids them from using their powers as he believes them unnatural. His wife Elizabeth is extremely frail, suffering from seizures where she cannot breathe, and he believes her illness is punishment from God due to his children using their powers.

When Eva and Zac sneak out after dark to play and Elizabeth has a near-fatal seizure, Daniel punishes them by making them face their bedroom walls and nailing their clothes to the wall, preventing them from teleporting away. Despite this, Eva continues using her powers, while Zac refuses to join her. When she tries to teleport an injured bird back to its nest, the bird dies, revealing that teleporting with anyone would end fatally for that individual.

Eva continues to sneak out. When Elizabeth dies, Daniel blames Eva. He knocks her out, puts a bag over her head and sets her adrift down the river in a boat. He buries one of Eva’s dresses in a grave beside her mother’s on the family plot. He tells Zac that she is taken care of, heavily implying that he has killed her. Zac is furious and visits her makeshift grave to mourn. Eva drifts to a nearby town, where she is found and taken to hospital. Eva struggles in the modern setting. She escapes the hospital, ending up under a bridge by a river, where she meets three kind elderly homeless people. They feed her crackers and play the guitar by the fire until the police arrive, causing Eva to become afraid and teleport away. Eventually she meets a girl her age on the street, whom she follows to a youth home for girls. Soon, she runs away again and decides to return home to Zac. It is implied that she has a connection to Zac, as she is able to locate their home through teleporting short distances along the way.

Meanwhile, Zac is struggling living with Daniel. After a vicious argument, Zac grabs Daniel and teleports, unaware of the consequences. To his horror, Daniel dies shortly afterwards. The next morning, Eva arrives at the wall, teleporting into the air and then onto the ground before she hits it. Zac finishes burying his father and sees her in the woods. They run and embrace each other. As they mourn their parents, they burn their childhood home down as an act of renewal.

She also fights other supernatural beings that inhabit the Ghost River Triangle, a cursed territory near the Canadian Rockies that includes Purgatory, her hometown. After being recruited by the Black Badge Division (BBD), a secret government agency led by Special Agent Xavier Dolls, she is joined by an ageless Doc Holliday and Wynonna's sister, Waverly Earp. Nicole Haught, a Purgatory Sheriff's Deputy and Waverly's girlfriend, assists the team in her local police role.

The first season centers on Wynonna fighting the revenants who kidnapped her older sister Willa from their homestead when they were girls, and the threat posed by Bobo Del Rey, leader of the local revenants. In the second season Wynonna discovers she is pregnant, while Waverly struggles with possession by a demon and doubts about her lineage. At the same time, two sister-wife widows of the dead sheriff who cursed Wyatt Earp seek to resurrect him. In season 3, the demon Clootie is resurrected and, as he seeks to find the entrance to the Garden of Eden, the team must work to stop him and prevent the resulting apocalypse. In season 4 part 1, Wynonna and Nicole must figure out a way to rescue Doc and Waverly, with the help of a new friend. In the Garden, Doc and Waverly deal with an imposter. Once rescued, Wynonna, Doc and Waverly return to find out that they have been gone longer than expected. While Waverly tries to help Nicole get past the trauma of their time apart, Wynonna searches for Peacemaker. And they must rescue one of their own from Wyatt's greatest enemies. In season 4 part 2, the gang celebrate Wayhaught engagement. Doc and Wynonna aren't on good terms whilst the latter's drinking gets worse. The gang deal with a cupid, jack-o'-lantern, genie, mysterious fog, Jolene, Cleo and the BBD.

Society breaks down after a virus causes the infected to turn into cannibalistic killers. When Evie's husband John becomes separated from the rest of the group during an attack, the survivors fall back to their emergency shelter. Gary and Evie want to wait for John, as they all agreed they would do in such a circumstance, but Bob becomes increasingly impatient. Citing the realities of the situation, Bob says they must assume John is dead and leave for a more permanent shelter. Although Bob backs down, he later takes the group's car, rifle, and supplies by force. When Gary objects, Bob shoots him in the head, killing him. Sammy, the group's mechanic, and Marge, Bob's wife, leave with him. They leave Evie behind.

John finally arrives. He is angered to find that Evie has 'allowed' the others to leave with all their supplies. Evie's protestations are cut short when Sammy returns on foot, delirious and obviously infected. John shoots her as she begins to transform. John and Evie attempt to survive on their own but are besieged by zombies. As John is about to commit suicide, a stranger named Charlie saves them. John greets Charlie with suspicion and explains they have nothing he can steal. When Charlie explains he wants nothing more than their companionship and offers to share his supplies, Evie welcomes him. As the three come to trust each other, John explains that he is a former college professor and Evie is a schoolteacher. Charlie introduces himself as a family man who has lost his family.

With Charlie's resourcefulness and skill, the survivors slowly increase their quality of life, though Evie remains bitter about John's previous suicide attempt. When she accuses him of being self-obsessed, Charlie tells her that he can provide for her better than John. Evie becomes uncomfortable, but Charlie pushes for a relationship. John suffers a serious asthma attack, and Evie begs Charlie to find medicine. Charlie insinuates that he knows where to find it, but he will only retrieve it if Evie submits to sex. Desperate, she does. As John and Charlie later talk, Evie searches through Charlie's belongings and finds evidence that he lied about having a family. John initially dismisses her concerns and says that they need Charlie to survive.

They run him off when Charlie reveals that he keeps a former lover, who has since become infected, chained in his car to observe. Charlie immediately returns and angrily confronts them; he accuses them of being ungrateful and says that survival is the only rule in this new society. Since they can not survive without his help, he asserts that he should have whatever he wants. John surrenders his pistol to Charlie and watches helplessly as Charlie drags Evie into their shelter to rape her again. John is anguished by Evie's cries for help but does nothing to assist her. When a lost soldier suddenly shows up, John disarms him and learns about an extraction point. John kills the soldier and shoots Charlie. As he dies, Charlie shoots Evie in the arm. John bandages her, but she struggles to stay conscious.

Charlie's car breaks down near the extraction point. Drawn by John's yelling to alert the military forces he assumes must be near, zombies begin to converge on their location. John pushes for them to continue on foot, but Evie is unable. After urging her to stand several times, John eventually gives up and hands her a pistol. When she realizes that he intends to leave her to die, Evie shoots John in the leg and uses him as a distraction while she escapes from the approaching zombies. Evie proceeds on her own to the extraction point as John is devoured by the zombies.

In a sleepy suburb of New Orleans, D.P 'Daveed' Pallikkal, an ambitious young man in his early 30s, wishes to be a film director. He attempts to make a film named ''Monsoon Mangoes'' after producing some unsuccessful short films. For this venture Daveed ropes in an old Bollywood actor who was a hero in a few films, who now lives to make ends meet. His attempts to create a ''The Seventh Seal'' sort of art film result in failure. He returns to a regular job. He finally attempts to re-edit the film with clippings from the lead actor's personal items. He tries to re-invent the actor's own life experience and stories for his ''Monsoon Mangoes''. For this he uses a clip which he recorded before the actor's death as the centerpiece and material from his original film. The clip is a monologue of the actor expressing, "Cinema is not above a life and there are three types of people. Firstly, those who consider having a job and family is everything. Secondly, those find what they do is not enough and expands there horizons and makes contributions to the society and thirdly there are people who tries to expand there horizons and fails, but pursue them and fall in the journey before reaching the destination." Daveed orchestrates a public viewing for his film and a lot of people attend and appreciates it. This makes Daveed happy in realizing his dream.

''Golden Boys'' is a novel of lost childhood innocence, and the loss of societal patterns of behaviour that allowed young children to roam the streets in the late 70s and early 80s. The novel tells the story of two twelve-year-olds, Colt Jenson and Freya Kiley, who are moving out of childhood as they realise that their families have dark secrets.

The film begins with scenes related to the Cherubini circus. In the evenings, the circus people go to a nearby inn that belongs to Rosika's stepfather. She doesn't want to be there for the guests and dance for them, so she leaves the house and seeks shelter with Rux, the circus clown.

Rux has developed a revue act for the circus, which revolves around a solo dancer and rider. The director Cherubini likes that, and there is also a female main character: Rosika. She can dance, but still has to learn to ride. While working with the horses, she meets Geza, who has just been hired as a stable boy. He is courting her, so Rux has to fear losing her for his big circus act. So he gets Geza under a pretext to leave the circus. He makes his way to his brother, and we learn that they are the Hungarian nobles from Raskos. But now Cherubini has fallen in love with Rosika. But when she rejects him, he throws Rux and Rosika out.

The two artists try in vain to get a place with another circus with their new revue number "Leichte Kavallerie". Finally they get an engagement in Budapest. Cherubini and the employees of his circus appear at the premiere, Geza also appears. After the first big performance, Rux talks to Geza and admits that he downplayed Rosika's affection for him at the time so as not to lose her for his program.

A second large dance scene follows, which ends with thunderous applause. Geza rushes to Rosika, there is a happy ending.

Alex (Olga Kurylenko), a trained ex-military agent-turned-thief, gets pulled into a high-tech bank heist (her 'one last job') by her former partner Kevin. During the heist, they steal a bag of diamonds which hides a valuable flash drive containing incriminating evidence. Alex keeps the diamonds as her cut of the heist and relaxes at a hotel as the rest of the proceeds are laundered. They are pursued by a team of agents led by Mr. Washington (James Purefoy). Kevin is tortured and killed as Alex hides under the bed. Alex escapes and is involved in a cat-and-mouse chase across the city. Kevin's wife and child are used as bait to lure Alex. Alex tries to uncover the conspiracy behind her pursuers. Alex eventually learns they have been sent by an anonymous United States Senator (Morgan Freeman) to retrieve the flash drive.

The novel recounts the story of the sadist schoolteacher Peredonov in an unnamed Russian provincial town. The other plotline presents the idyllic loves of the boy Sasha Pylnikov and Ludmila Rutilova. Peredonov lives in constant hatred to the world around him and to the life itself and believes that all live in constant hatred of him. Throughout the novel Peredonov struggles to be promoted to governmental inspector of his province and starts going paranoid and hallucinates with a misterious little demon Nedotykomka. He finally commits murder in a state of insanity.

When a leak of superheated water inside the containment area of a nuclear power plant erupts, PROTEUS, the computer orders the sealing off the compound, trapping 14 men inside. The plant managers had been warned of erratic readings of the core pressure prior to the emergency, but disregarded them, knowing that they would be changing the fuel rods the next day.

As the core temperature rises, and pressure drops, the reactor's managers realize that they are facing a possibility of a core meltdown, or even an explosion given the presence of combustible gases. Backup systems, meant to contain the situation, fail. Authorities call in “Commander” Stone, who in turn call in an emergency team of investigators led by Frank Bolen (William Devane). Bolen is dependable, mostly because the loss of his wife and son have allowed him to become fully focused on his job.

Bolen and Wyche arrive at the plant, and immediately clash with Commander Stone. Relying on PROTEUS, Stone discounts sabotage as a cause of the accident, believing human error as the more likely cause. In contrast, Bolen considers sabotage a better explanation for both the initial emergency and the failure of the backup systems.

Bolen's suspicions are raised when he learns that the wife of Howard Ives, one of the men trapped in the containment, has just been found dead, an apparent suicide. Visiting Ives's home, Bolen finds materials that could have been used to make a number of home-made bombs. When a sound resembling human breathing is overheard on speakers linked to the containment area, Bolen suspects that someone is still alive inside the reactor. One of the men on Bolen's team finds Ives's lunchbox, and discovers one of Ives's bombs inside. Bolen theorizes that Ives's plans to sabotage the reactor were derailed by a freak accident. A detailed investigation of Ives's use of PROTEUS shows that the plant worker had inquired as to the plant's various systems, essentially using the computer to teach him how circumvent its ability to protect the plant. Coupled with the recent death of Ives's daughter, a radical killed during a botched arrest, Ives's conduct convinces Bolen that they are facing an emergency partially based in sabotage.

Bolen realizes that he has no choice but to enter the reactor. If Ives is alive, they need him to explain where the remaining bombs are. Disobeying Stone's orders, Bolen enters the reactor area and finds that there's no radiation. Among the bodies of other workers, Bolen find that Ives is still alive. Before Bolen can extract information from Ives, he sees that an overhead crane has begun moving. Stone, remembering that the fuel rods were due to be changed, realizes that the crane, under computer control, is following its orders to open the reactor. Because the reactor is still “hot”, opening the reactor now will trigger a nuclear release. Bolen and Wyche struggle with the crane's hook, preventing it from opening the reactor containment vessel.

The film focuses on May Read, the daughter of a wealthy widow, who was blinded by an unknown affliction when she was a child. While her mother is away, a fire starts in the house and May is left in the blaze while the servants flee. Frank Larson makes his way into the burning house and brings May out to the safety of the street, but doing so has disfigured him for life. May and Frank fall in love and the couple are married with the blessing of May's mother.

Two years pass and couple have their first child. Their family physician offers to perform an operation to restore May's sight. Despite Frank's worries that his wife will not love him if she should see his scarred face, Frank consents to the operation. The operation is a success and the doctor warns May not to remove the bandages as she will lose her sight again. May's desire to see her child is so strong that she removes the bandages and gazes upon her child. Upon trying to gaze upon her husband, who is standing in strong light, May is permanently blinded. The film concludes with May being content with her blindness and knowing that her baby is as beautiful.

In the 17th century, Zorro joins forces with the Three Musketeers to rescue a princess kidnapped by a Spanish emissary.

The official synopsis establishes back-story that is not seen or referenced in the beginning of the film, stating that Mrs. Gage turned to her only son for support after losing the last of her savings. Seeking his support, Mrs. Gage arrives at his house and is shown in by her granddaughter, Marie. The son welcomes his mother, but his wife strongly objects to having her mother-in-law take up residence in the house. Shown to her room by Marie, Mrs. Gage makes herself comfortable and gives Marie a kitten. "Granny" quickly becomes friends with little Marie. The wife struggles with Granny's presence, but her patience is tested when Granny knocks over a vase, and in recoiling, knocks over a sewing box. The mother delivers an ultimatum to her husband, "Either your mother or I must leave this house!" Though not shown, the husband decides that his mother is to go. In the next scene, the wife appears and informs her that she must leave. Marie assists her grandmother before her departure to the old folks' home with her son. She is upset that her grandmother was made to leave because she was "only in the way" and that as a cripple, she is no different. Marie writes a letter explaining that she has gone to live with grandma and departs to the old folks' home. Marie's journey with the kitten in one arm and her crutch in the other is a difficult one. On the way, she stumbles and loses her crutch in a brook, but she limps onward. Her parents search frantically for Marie and discover the note. The parents head to the old folks' home and are relieved to find Marie with her grandmother. The wife then informs the nurse that Granny will be leaving. After packing her belongings, the family depart.

As a child, Lucie Jurin escapes from a building where she has been held captive and tortured. Lucie spends the rest of her childhood at St. Mary's Orphanage, where she is haunted by hallucinations of a strange-looking creature that attempts to attack her at every turn. Over time, she grows extremely close to Anna Assaoui, a fellow resident at the orphanage and Lucie's only friend.

Ten years later, Lucie goes to the countryside home of the Patterson family with a shotgun and executes all four family members, believing them to be related to her childhood torture. Lucie calls Anna who is concerned that the family may not be responsible for Lucie's torture. Anna is horrified by the scene when she arrives at the house and calls 9-1-1 while Lucie sleeps but hangs up. Anna discovers Mrs. Patterson is still alive and tries to help her escape. Lucie suddenly tackles Mrs. Patterson outside and stabs her to death. While cleaning the crime scene, Anna finds a secret panel in a closet which leads to a hidden basement. Anna finds a little girl named Sam and rescues her. The two regroup with Lucie and safely make their exit from the basement when several trucks arrive with Eleanor, Fenton and several other people to give chase; after the pursuit, all three girls are soon captured and taken under custody.

Later, Anna is interrogated by Eleanor, who explains that her group is a collective dedicated to discovering what waits in the afterlife; by torturing women and young girls to their breaking point, they believe they can create Martyrs with an ability to glimpse briefly into "the other side". Giving Anna gratitude for bringing Lucie back, she values Lucie as a rare find, as she is capable of enduring great pain without dying. As an example, Eleanor has Anna watch from an overhead room as the cabal gathers to observe a captive woman being burned at the stake. After the woman dies, the priest overseeing her ordeal looks in Eleanor's direction and shakes his head. Lucie is taken for surgery and Eleanor orders the doctor to perform a procedure on Lucie. The doctor cuts and peels a piece of flesh from Lucie's back as part of the final preparations for her martyrdom.

Meanwhile, Anna is taken to a pit outside and buried alive for being Lucie’s accomplice but she digs her way into a drainage ditch and escapes. She fights her way back into the underground facility, killing several cabal members. She frees Sam and tells her to run for help. While she searches for Lucie, she is attacked by Fenton and shot in the shoulder but eventually kills him with the help of another captive woman. Anna gets stabbed in the side by one of the cabal members before shooting him.

Anna finds and interrupts an assembly gathered to watch Lucie die on a cross. Lucie gets a look in her eyes that the group feels signifies martyrdom and Anna, wielding Fenton's gun, insists that Lucie be freed. Lucie reveals what she saw in a whisper to Anna. Eleanor demands to know what Lucie said; the priest says he heard Lucie's whispers before quickly putting a gun in his mouth and killing himself. Anna shoots Eleanor and the rest of the cabal members flee. Anna embraces Lucie as they lie dying on the floor. With the police on their way, both women's eyes glaze over with the look of martyrdom.

In London, England, Jonathan Hemlock is blackmailed into performing another "sanction", a top-secret political assassination.

In fourteenth century Norway, 19-year-old Signe, her younger brother, and her parents travel through lands made dangerous by the lawlessness following the Black Death. Bandits led by Dagmar kill her entire family; Dagmar herself murders Signe's brother Tormod as she watches helplessly. Before the bandits can kill Signe, Dagmar stops them and orders them to take her prisoner. At their camp, Signe meets Frigg, a young girl that Dagmar has adopted. When Frigg shows kindness to Signe, Dagmar chastises her and says that Signe deserves no compassion, as her people have driven them to banditry.

Arvid, Dagmar's lover, stops Loke from raping Signe. As the others watch Arvid and Loke fight, Signe strains to recover Loke's dropped knife. Frigg notices and alerts Dagmar, who tasks Frigg with Signe's punishment, cutting off a finger. When Signe calls Dagmar a witch, Dagmar gloats that she will soon allow the men to rape Signe, as she wants Frigg to have a younger sister. Instead of cutting off Signe's finger, Frigg frees her. As the others sleep, the two girls sneak out of the camp. The bandits wake and give chase, though Signe and Frigg evade them in the nearby forest.

One bandit dies when Signe destroys a log bridge as he attempts to cross it. Dagmar stops them from killing Signe, and the girls escape as the bandits search for another crossing point. Loke finds them at an outcrop, and Signe kills him as he again attempts to rape her. When the bandits find Loke's body, Dagmar tells them to spare Frigg's life but allows them to do what they wish to Signe. Meanwhile, the girls find a hunter's cabin, and, assuming it abandoned, camp there overnight. The hunter Trygve is surprised to find them there when he returns, but he feeds them and teaches Signe how to kill a bear with a spear.

When he learns that they're fleeing Dagmar's bandit group, he tells them that Dagmar was subjected to ordeal by water after her village was hit by the plague. Both of Dagmar's children died, and she barely escaped with her life. When Dagmar shows up at the cabin, Trygve attempts to reason with her, but she becomes enraged when Arvid suggests they allow Signe and Frigg to escape. Dagmar kills Arvid and Trygve is killed by the two remaining bandits Grim and Skjalg. Meanwhile the girls escape through the rear. The bandits eventually corner the girls at a cliff. Dagmar promises to allow Signe to live if Frigg surrenders. Signe, knowing that Dagmar will not keep her word, jumps off the cliff just as Dagmar signals Grim to kill her.

Signe survives her fall, and, after dreaming of her murdered family, buries Trygve. After retrieving his spear, she goads Skjalg into chasing her and uses it to impale him as Trygve taught her. Her next trap fails to kill Grim, and she is forced to use a bow and arrow to shoot him, a weapon that her father had unsuccessfully attempted to teach her earlier. Her first shot misses. Remaining calm, she hits and kills Grim with her second shot. Dagmar uses Frigg as bait to lure Signe. As Signe frees the bound girl, Dagmar attacks. As Dagmar drowns Signe in a river, Frigg calls out to her, addressing Dagmar as her mother. Dagmar turns toward her joyously, and Signe kills Dagmar while her back is turned. Together, the girls bury Signe's family, and Signe hands Frigg a necklace she made for her brother. When Frigg asks what the rune on it means, Signe explains that it means "family".

Daniel Austin (Keir Gilchrist), age 17, has been placed under house arrest for stalking his classmate Mona Wilson (Grace Phipps) and hacking into all of her accounts on social media. Under the terms of his house arrest, he is not allowed visits from unaccompanied minors nor is he allowed access to his computer (which has been confiscated by the authorities) or the internet. His I.P. address has been tagged so as to alert authorities if he attempts to access any social media. As his mother is away on business, he is alone in the house. Daniel's parole officer, Stokes (Peter Stormare), explains that Daniel's monitoring tag will go off if he goes past the edge of the front lawn. If he does not retreat within five seconds, he will be arrested. Daniel mentions hearing of someone under house arrest who cut off their foot to get the monitoring tag off so they could flee to Mexico.

Despite the restrictions placed on Daniel, his friends Abby Feller and Kevin Dowdle visit and bring him a tablet so that he can access a neighbor's internet connection and Skype his mother. As the three converse by the pool, it is rather clear that Abby has a crush on her friend Daniel. Daniel explains that he wasn't interested in Mona but then developed an obsession - virtually overnight.

When he is about to Skype his mother, Abby contacts him instead. After a brief conversation, he receives an incoming Skype call from Mona, who commits suicide by gunshot on camera.

Following this incident, Daniel becomes more and more paranoid, and keeps seeing Mona in the house. Daniel and his friends attempt a seance to contact the spirit of Mona. The idea is that by each holding pens, Mona will communicate with them. Instead, Daniel and Kevin stab Abby through the hand with their pens. She is then lifted up and dragged across the wall. Afterwards, we see the blood from her injured hand spells out 'Daniel' on the wall.

After more supernatural events, Abby and Kevin head over to the dead girl's house. They are looking for a personal item of Mona's they can use as part of a ritual to help her move on to the afterlife. When they arrive at the house, they find it empty. They break in and, guided by Daniel who has a blueprint of the house, they head to Mona's room which is bare apart from a blood-stained mattress (from Mona shooting herself). They realize, with Daniel's help, that there is a false wall at the back of a closet which leads to a secret room which contains a number of strange artifacts and a large number of photos of Daniel; Mona was stalking Daniel, not the other way around. One of the items they find has a strange symbol embossed on it. Daniel finds out what it is and uses the name of the symbol as the password to Mona's cloud account. There he finds a folder called 'Daniel' which contains a spell.

It turns out that Mona secretly had a crush on Daniel, and had been obsessively stalking him for a long time. She put a spell on Daniel to make him fall in love with her. It worked, but he was too shy to contact her, so Mona used a second spell so that her spirit could enter into Daniel's body alongside his own spirit so they would be together. There are five steps to the spell, the first of which was Mona's suicide. They realize that if all the steps are not completed by Daniel, the spell will fail. Abby therefore takes the last step, hoping that this will break the spell. However, Abby has already unwittingly carried out the previous steps of the spell so performing the last step brings Mona's spirit into her body. While they are cleaning up after the failed seance, Mona, now possessing Abby, kills Kevin and knocks Daniel out. Gagging him with duct tape, she then cuts off Daniel's leg so she can remove his house arrest monitor and abduct him without notice. When Stokes visits, he sees the severed leg on the floor and just thinks Daniel has absconded, as he described when he was first fitted with the tag.

In a post-credits scene, Abby, still possessed by Mona's spirit, is seen driving a gagged Daniel out of town while he lets out muffled screams.

What begins as a desperate attempt to be promoted at work turns into a consuming passion as Pil-yong discovers the beauty of the craft, and he joins other devotees (such as documentary filmmaker Ji-won) to reenact traditional methods of hanji-making under the moonlight.

A man's affair complicates his daughter's love life.

The film focuses on a young heiress who has two suitors, one a French baron and the other an American businessman named Jack. Her aunt, who favors the French noble out her desire for status, is hurt to learn that the heiress has chosen to marry the American businessman. The baron vows revenge and schemes with the aunt to aid his plot. When the businessman comes to the house to see his fiancée, he learns that she is out of the house and sits down with the baron and aunt. Moments later, the servant rushes into the room attracted by cries to see Jack bending over the wounded baron with a knife in hand. Both the aunt and the baron accuse him of the stabbing as well as the servant and a policeman, who also saw Jack with the knife. In court, the jury finds it to be a clear case and Jack is sentenced to ten years in prison.

His fiancée is determined to prove his innocence, but knows not how to establish it. She meets a homeless man, who closely resembles Jack, who is about to commit a crime by smashing a window. The man desires to go to prison, believing it to be the only way that he will have food and shelter. The girl recognizes the opportunity and plans to pay him for taking the place of her fiancée in prison. The man consents and the heiress concocts a clever substitution that proves successful via change of clothes. Jack, now free, confronts the aunt—who believes that his reappearance is a ghostly one. The aunt confesses that the baron's wounds were self-inflicted and the circumstantial evidence that the servant and policeman had seen was an erroneous. The substitute convict is pardoned and released from prison without the swap ever being known. For his plot, the French baron is convicted for perjury and sent to the state prison.

At his home, Mr. Doyle meets with a visitor and is paid a large sum of money, in cash. Doyle's children are there during their discussion—his son sitting at the window, and his young daughter playing on the floor with her collie, Jean. The cash is left on the table while Doyle sees his visitor out. The son leaves the room, and the young girl sees the money and thinks of it only as paper she can play with. She takes the bundle out into the garden, puts it into a cradle with her calico doll, and cuts paper dolls from one or two of the bills.

The room is empty when Doyle returns, and he is alarmed to find the money missing. When his wife tells him she knows nothing about it, he accuses his son of stealing it. Deeply offended, the son leaves home. He has been gone only a short time when the young daughter comes inside to show her mother the paper dolls she has made from the pretty paper. Jean the collie follows along with a bundle of money the child has dropped. Her mother calls to her husband, and the little girl explains that she thought the paper was just something she could play with, and she is deeply upset that her brother has gone away.

The child sets out with her calico doll to find her brother, with Jean close behind her. Wandering in the woods and fields, the child falls down a steep embankment, injures her ankle and lies unconscious. Unable to rouse the child, Jean runs home to alert the parents but is unable to make them understand. Jean goes back and retrieves the calico doll as proof that the child is missing and in danger.

Brought back home out of devotion to his sister, the son returns to his distraught parents. When he sees Jean with the calico doll, he follows the dog to the scene of the accident and rescues the little girl.

Phil and Beth meet one day at the seaside. They pass a photograph gallery where they decide to have their tin-types taken, and each one lovingly puts the other's picture into their own locket.

At their next meeting, Phil and Beth agree to marry. However, when Phil tries to prove that Beth's picture is in his locket, the catch sticks and he cannot open it. The couple fight and separate, and the film implies that each of them will now try to kill themselves.

Jean (Phil's dog) fixes the situation - she picks up Phil's locket and places it near Beth, and then returns with Beth's locket to Phil. Each one opens the other's locket, and sees that their own tin-type is indeed in there. The couple then reconcile and renew their engagement.

''Past the Shallows'' is a novel of the bond of brotherhood and the fragility of youth. Everyday their dad battles the unpredictable ocean to make a living. He is a hard man, a bitter drinker who harbours a devastating secret that is destroying him. Unlike Joe, Harry and Miles are too young to leave home and so are forced to live with their abusive father. Harry, the youngest, is the most vulnerable and is targeted as an outlet for the fathers anger.

Teenagers Teddy (Ferguson) and Dora (Park) rob a man of his wallet. Dora's boyfriend Jimmy (Booth) tries to talk her out of associating with Teddy but Dora refuses to listen. Using the money they have saved from previous crimes, they buy two guns from Joe (Farrell) and hold up a gas station. Joe then convinces the girls to steal a $6,000 payroll from a chemical company where his girlfriend Joy (Brent) works. After discovering that they only ended up with $14 the two girls ask Joe for money so they can leave the area and avoid arrest. When he refuses, they pull their guns on him and take his money. Joy then comes by Joe's apartment and tells him that she is pregnant resulting in Joe throwing her out of his apartment. Later, when she returns she finds his new girlfriend, Trixie (Cameron), in the apartment. The two girls fight and a beaten Trixie leaves. Joe returns to the apartment and surprises Joy who shoots him. Teddy is killed in a car crash and Dora is mortally injured when they are chased by the police attempting to flee the area. At the hospital, just before she dies, Dora tells Jimmy that she was wrong and should have listened to him.

A young art student is followed home by Roscoe, a male model. She is scolded by her sister Joya who believes she can deal with Roscoe but gets trapped by him. She accidentally calls two uni students who are unsure if they are hearing a real call or a radio drama. They eventually decide to find the girl but have trouble locating her.

Carmilla arrives in South Carolina to investigate a woman named Millarca. The only information she has is an address, but Troy, the owner of the house, says nobody named Millarca has ever lived there. He offers to give Carmilla a ride into town, and she later coincidentally visits a restaurant where Troy's daughter, Laura, works. Curious, Laura presses for more details, and Carmilla reveals that Millarca is her mother, whom she never knew. Carmilla eventually becomes annoyed with Laura's questions and leaves, but Laura stops her to explain that her father once rented out a trailer. Carmilla requests public records at the police station, but they tell her it will take two business days.

At Laura's urging, Troy lets Carmilla stay at the trailer, which Troy reveals he once rented to Millarca. Laura invites Carmilla to hang out with her, and the two grow closer. Worried about Laura's increasing bond with Carmilla, Troy says Millarca was trouble and her daughter likely is, too. Laura becomes uncomfortable when Troy tries to kiss her, and he breaks down in tears as he says that she reminds him of her dead mother. Later, Troy explains that Millarca and Karen, Laura's mother, were also friends. Troy did not approve of their friendship and, as a devout Christian, believed Millarca was a bad influence. Troy tells Carmilla that her mother was a thief and left without paying rent. He suggests that she leave soon, as he does not want Laura to become too attached to Carmilla if she will be leaving town.

Before Carmilla leaves, she checks the police station. There, she discovers the police were called to Troy's house. In Millarca's statement, she says she was having a lesbian affair with Karen. Separately, Troy corroborates this with Laura, who has demanded the full story. Troy beat both women when he found that they were engaging in blood fetishism. He blamed Karen's mysterious ailment and eventual death on Millarca, whom he believes to have been a vampire who seduced Karen. Laura, who self-injures, excitedly tells Carmilla, who has not left town yet, that she now understands herself and her sexuality. The two begin a lesbian relationship that mirrors that of their mothers.

Carmilla discovers Laura's scars and makes Laura promise to stop self-injuring. Carmilla further tells Laura she will not engage in blood fetishism any more, as it is a substitute for self-injury. Carmilla urges Laura to leave town with her, but Laura resists. Troy becomes suspicious that Laura is still seeing Carmilla and warns her that he will not allow Carmilla to hurt her. Exasperated, Laura insists that Carmilla has done nothing to her. However, Troy breaks into her bedroom and discovers extensive scars from Laura's self-injuring. Mistaking them as evidence of Carmilla's vampirism, Troy threatens to kill Carmilla as he did Millarca.

Troy binds Laura to her bed and says that if Carmilla returns to the house, it is proof she is a vampire. Laura desperately warns off Carmilla when she shows up, but Carmilla refuses to leave without Laura. As Laura tearfully tells Carmilla that Troy killed Millarca, Troy, a hunter, shoots Carmilla with a bow and arrow. Laura stops him before he can finish her off with a knife. As Laura calls the police, Troy retrieves his knife and kills Carmilla. As she dies, Carmilla sees her mother through a kind of telepathic link between the two of them, implying that Carmilla actually is a dhampir (and that Troy was right about Millarca being a vampire). Laura flees the house and drives off into the night as the police arrive.

Captain Drakut, called the "Dragon", is a ruthless Saracen pirate who makes the Mediterranean unsafe with his ship. On his forays he hijacks ships and kidnaps the women captured on the ships in order to later sell them as slaves to Turkish human traffickers in North Africa. The rogue pirate only becomes weak when it comes to one woman: the glow-eyed princess Miriam, ruler of a desert tribe of Arabs. One day, Drakut makes a crucial mistake when he raids the "San Luca" and kidnaps Bianca, who is traveling with him. She is the daughter of the governor of Rhodes, which currently belongs to the Republic of Venice. There were also several secret papers from the Doge of Venice on board. The governor is in dire need, as he has to assume that his Bianca could also be bartered away to some lecherous Arab despot. But he is lucky in his misfortune, because a certain Roberto Diego, a notorious adventurer and son of the once feared "Red Corsair", offers his father his help.

Diego has just been sentenced to incarceration because of high debts, but is willing to risk his life to save the beautiful little daughter and the secret documents for the good of Bianca and the Doge of Venice if his sentence is released. However, the governor has no idea that Roberto has very personal motives for bringing himself up as a rescuer and liberator. In order to get rid of the annoying competitor for the favor of the exotic beauty, Drakut uses an opportunity to let Roberto die of thirst on the way to the oasis. But he is brave and tough enough to fight his way through to the saving goal. Diego begins to play a double game: on the one hand he loves the kidnapped Bianca, but he also keeps Miriam warm because he needs her help for his plan to finally put an end to Drakut. Taboulistan is a tiny fictional country, supposedly wedged between Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, virtually unknown to the world. Its only asset is a reputation for inventing tabbouleh. Alas, the Lebanese have stolen the recipe that their country is famous for. So two half-brother Taboulistani shepherds are sent to France by their president to promote their country. Their method: "terrorist advertising". They seek to destroy the Eiffel Tower using a plane. Following a strike at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, they land in Corsica. They meet with Corsican nationalists and board a boat for Marseille. Unfortunately, one of them is the victim of an attack because he was wearing a PSG shirt, followed by a medical error. A journalist helps them to go to Paris.

Joe (Timothy Farrell) controls a gang of young girls who commit robberies and prostitution for him by getting them hooked on drugs.

Young Russian Nina is staying with her father, retired General Kirileff, in the German spa town of Hohenburg. Her father has gambled away his fortune at the roulette table and is now borrowing more money from the supposed Baron Vincent at exorbitant interest. He wants to get Kirileff to agree to his marriage to Nina, who will be entitled to a large inheritance when her grandmother dies. Nina can't stand Baron Vincent, since she saw through his machinations. Blanche du Placet, rumored to be a countess, is in tow of Vincent. Her intentions are similar to those of the baron: she ensnares Kirileff, who has already proposed to her. Blanche thinks he's a big landowner in Russia. Alexej, a former student and now secretary of Kirileff, and the German doctor Dr. Tronka up. Alexej is in love with Nina, but she takes advantage of his feelings depending on her mood. Dr Tronka, who is also not indifferent to the young woman, is treated with a hardly perceptible condescension.

When Vincent presses for the bills to be paid, Kirileff, in his distress, claims that he knows for sure that Nina's grandmother is dying. Nina is dismayed by her father's behavior and wants to save the family honor. She sells her jewelry and tries to win the missing money at the gaming table. In the end, she gambles everything away and her father's ruin seems sealed. A telegram from home seems to be the solution to all problems, since Kirileff believes that Nina's grandmother has died. This, however, appears a short time later in Hohenburg and discovers the roulette game for itself. She loses a large amount of money while gambling, but knows when to stop and soon travels back to Russia. Nina decides against going with them and stays with her father. The young woman also rejects other offers of help, so she doesn't want Dr. Tronka pays off her father's debts. She fears selling herself to him. Alexej, on the other hand, can no longer help her because he has become a player himself. Due to all the excitement, Nina falls ill and confides in Dr. Tronka on. Shortly thereafter, he challenges Vincent to a duel, and the false baron flees. He gives Kirileff's bills to Blanche, who begins a relationship with Alexej and sells him the bills. dr Tronka nurses Nina back to health. Suddenly, Alexei appears and assures the young woman that he has always loved her and cannot live without her. He wants to return to Russia with Nina, and tells her that he has already destroyed her father's bills of exchange. However, these were only recently discovered by Dr. Bought out Tronka. When Alexej finds out about this, he realizes that Blanche must have stolen the bills and sold them again. His proof of love to Nina, to save her father by buying the bills of exchange, is therefore void. This realization enrages Alexei so much that he wants to do something to Blanche. Nina asks Dr. Tronka to stop Alexej and actually the doctor can prevent worse. He makes Alexei promise not to play anymore and gives him travel money for his return to Russia. while dr Tronka visits Nina and explains to her that she is relieved of any obligation towards Alexej and should now let her feelings decide about her future, Alexej cannot resist his addiction: In the casino he spends all the travel money that Dr. Tronka has received at the roulette table at stake.

Billy Sloane's school principal describes him as sloppy, shoddy, unpunctual, and uncooperative, but also infuriatingly truthful. Things aren't going to well for Billy, though. It's exam time at school and his mother is dying in hospital. His father has taken in a lady 'friend' to look after him and the police are looking for his brother Jack in connection with a string of armed robberies.

After 3 years in prison, Kancel is being transferred for questioning. In transit, he escapes, abducting Captain Carré of the BRB, responsible for putting him behind bars. Kancel has 96 hours to find out who betrayed him and get his revenge.

Bobby Dorfman (Jesse Eisenberg) is the youngest son of a Jewish family in New York City in the 1930s. His elder sister Evelyn is a married school teacher, while his elder brother Ben is a gangster. Discontented with working for his father, a jeweler, Bobby decides to move to Hollywood, where he takes a job running menial errands for his uncle Phil (Steve Carell), a powerhouse talent agent.

Phil introduces Bobby to his secretary Veronica, nicknamed Vonnie (Kristen Stewart), who is tasked with helping Bobby settle into Hollywood. Bobby is drawn to her unpretentiousness as opposed to most young women living in Hollywood, and falls deeply in love with her. She rebuffs his advances, telling him she has a journalist boyfriend named Doug. In reality, "Doug" is Phil, with whom Vonnie is carrying on an illicit romance; he promises to divorce his wife and marry her.

On the first-year "paper anniversary" of their affair, Vonnie gives Phil a letter written and signed by Rudolph Valentino as a gift. However, Phil proceeds to tell her that he is incapable of divorcing his wife, so he ends the affair. Vonnie subsequently surrenders to Bobby's love for her and their friendship turns into a romance.

A forlorn Phil confides in Bobby about his affair—without naming his mistress—before telling him he has determined to divorce his wife. Bobby passingly mentions his relationship with Vonnie and his intention to marry her and return to New York. Phil begins petitioning Vonnie privately to leave Bobby and marry him instead.

While having a conversation with Phil in his office, Bobby notices the Valentino letter. Recognizing it from Vonnie's account about her breakup with "Doug", he confronts her and asks her to choose between himself and Phil. Vonnie chooses Phil.

A heartbroken Bobby returns to New York City where he begins to run a high-end nightclub with his gangster brother, Ben (Corey Stoll). It soon becomes a famous hangout for the rich and powerful, from politicians to gangsters. Bobby meets divorcée Veronica Hayes (Blake Lively) at the nightclub, and they begin dating, soon getting married and starting a family together.

On an extended visit to New York, a happily married Phil and Vonnie stop at the nightclub and insist on seeing Bobby. Vonnie has become a pretentious name-dropper and Bobby is at first repulsed by her. However, he agrees to show her around New York—as she had once done for him in Hollywood. They spend an evening without Phil, visiting Bobby's favorite haunts and, as dawn breaks over Central Park, share a kiss; but it's clear that it can go no further.

Bobby's sister Evelyn (Sari Lennick) asks their brother, Ben, to "talk to" her disagreeable neighbor; Ben promptly kills him. He is arrested and convicted for murder and racketeering. Shortly before he goes to the electric chair, he converts to Christianity, mortifying his parents. His late brother's notoriety propels the nightclub to new heights, and Bobby travels to Los Angeles to contemplate opening a Hollywood version. He ultimately decides against it, but, before he leaves, he and Vonnie have lunch together, where she mentions that she and Phil will be returning to New York for a short visit. However, they both decide that it is better if they don't see each other.

Months later, on New Year's Eve, Bobby and Vonnie are apart—Bobby in New York City hosting festivities in his nightclub, and Vonnie with her husband at a Hollywood house party. As the new year is rung in, they both seem distant to their spouses, and both have a faraway look in their eyes.

''Kekec'' (Velimir Gjurin) and ''Rožle'' (Martin Mele) are shepherds for a farmer, who has a blind daughter Mojca (Blanka Florjanc), about their age. When it gets dark outside, they start a conversation about Aunt Pehta (Ruša Bojc), an evil woman from the mountains who supposedly steals children. Kekec, Mojca and Rožle go to an alpine hut in the morning. Kind Kekec promises Mojca that he will find a cure for her eyes.

Mojca goes to pick flowers. Aunt Pehta from the mountains appears, kidnaps her, and takes her to her alpine hut. Pehta wants to keep Mojca, because she sings so beautiful. Pehta is also a very good herbalist and finds a rare flower, which can cure Mojca's blind eyes.

Kekec and Rožle are searching for Mojca and come to Pehta's alpine hut, where Kekec heroically climbs on the hut's roof and saves Mojca. Mean Pehta sends her dangerous dog (Wolf) behind them, but they manage to escape. They run away across a wooden footbridge over the stream. Shy and frightened Rožle comes home scared and says that Pehta's dog Wolf probably ate Kekec and Mojca.

All the people from the village and Mojca's father search with torches for Kekec and Mojca, who spend the night at some mountain cave. Pehta notices the people and burns the hut. When Kekec brings Mojca home, she tells her mother that Pehta knows the cure for her eyes and immediately runs out of the house. Pehta captures Kekec and drags him to her secret mountain cave. Kekec challenges and provokes Pehta, that between all her cures she doesn't have one for eyes.

Pehta brags that she has it and if he hadn't taken Mojca with him, she would have been cured. Kekec tries to become friends with her, with Wolf and secretly searches for the magic cure. Pehta caught him and cruelly beats her dog. She told Kekec that cure is hiding in mini bottle on the necklace that she is wearing. At the end Pehta becomes sentimental and gives the necklace bottle to Kekec. He goes home to Mojca, put a few drops in her eyes and she can see again.

A young sculptor with the features of a Greco-Roman statue is carving a statue in stone. As the statue takes form, it comes alive. A struggle begins where the statue fights back and carves the artist with a chisel. As the artist refines the features of his statue and makes it appear young and muscular, the statue carves the artist and makes him take on the features of an old and frail man. When the statue is finished, the artist falls to the ground.

Mr. Pocket opens a new six-star hotel, the Pocket Plaza, and Polly and her friends are set to perform at the grand opening. Since it's gonna happened on the weekend, Polly has invited a new friend from England, her identical cousin Pia Pocket, who has dreams of being a rock star.

As the girls enjoy the hotel, Pia is told by her chaperone Miss Throckmorton she is not allowed to be in the rock band because anything American is not proper and ladylike, and she should stick to her British heritage. At the same time, Polly's father is held up at an airport in Iceland and Polly now has to present the dedication speech at the hotel opening in his place. Wanting to prove Miss Throckmorton wrong, the girls disguise Pia to look like Polly and teach her about all things American. The girls' plan goes into action with the cousins assuming the opposite's identity, which fools Miss Throckmorton completely. Meanwhile, Polly's jealous rival Beth is suspicious of Polly's sudden change in behavior, eventually meeting the cousins and seeing how identical they are, and plots to use their switch to ruin the ceremony which will be broadcast live.

Miss Throckmorton overheard Beth talking about Pia and Polly's plan and thought Pia disobeyed her, and she runs into Polly, mistaking her for Pia, and grounds her to her hotel room. Pia is forced to take Polly's place at the ceremony with Polly reading her speech over the phone, but Miss Throckmorton catches her and hangs up. However, Pia manages to save the day by improvising with a speech of her own, causing Miss Throckmorton to realize the error of her ways; she apologizes to Polly for kidnapping her, makes amends with Pia, and allows her to pursue her dream of performing with the band. That evening, Polly and the Pockets performance goes off without a hitch, and Pia joins in and thanks Polly for the best weekend ever.

Gift is a world where glittering blue crystals known as Giftium are buried deep underground. A young boy named Sōgo Amagi lives in the prosperous mining town of Garden Indigo. Sōgo, whose hobby is collecting rare crystals, one day becomes involved in a dispute between classmates Kaon, Roman, and Otto. He wanders deep into the ruins of a mine and discovers an underground lake. There, Sōgo meets a mysterious blue-haired girl with red eyes named Felia and their fateful meeting is the start of a new adventure with their newly formed bond.

Transatlantic flight 627 Captain Steve Williams is piloting a DC-7C commercial airliner on a flight from Lisbon to New York when two engines fail. One of the propellers cannot be feathered, causing drag that makes it uncertain whether New York can be reached. The crippled aircraft is not the only concern for Williams as he has been faced with family complications. He is at odds with his wife Helen over raising their son. Williams is also not liked by his co-pilot John Smithback, engineer Howard Whitney and navigator Jed Sutton, who resent Williams's overbearing attitude.

The other crew and passengers have a variety of concerns. They include Teddy Burton, a child on the flight whose dog Wilbur is in the rear cargo area of the airliner. Bernice Willouby is an anxious flyer, while first-class passenger Maurice Stanley has been recently widowed and establishes a relationship with Willouby during the course of the flight. Businessmen Arthur White and Calvin Havelick are feuding with each other. Stewardess Ann Thatcher considers the co-pilot's advances unwelcome, but has to work with him.

Williams radios to a nearby U.S. destroyer for help, and alerts everyone on board to ready themselves for a crash landing at sea. As they prepare for the ditching, the pilot realizes that landing at night is too perilous, and they circle until sunrise. During the delay Williams realizes that his attitudes have been too harsh and Ann Thatcher reconsiders her attitude to the co-pilot. When the airliner hits the water, the passengers, who are violently tossed about, recover and climb out to deployed life rafts. All are saved, and Williams rescues the dog, which he had previously told the boy would have to be abandoned. Eventually Williams reunites with his wife and son in Lisbon.

The story tells about the foundation of the Joseon dynasty in the Korean Peninsula, and the ambitions, success and conflicts of several real and fictional characters, with a focus on the young Yi Bang-won.

Eve's husband Paul, disappears mysteriously one day and leaves behind a huge debt. As the police investigates the case, Paul's former associate Chollet offers Eve his support. Little later Chollet becomes himself a suspect.

Joy Linnett and her stepsister Jackie miss a flight home to Ohio, but the attractive Joy, accustomed to getting her way with men, flirts with pilot Stevie Wilson until he agrees to personally fly the two young women.

At home, old beau Warren James comes calling and invites Jackie to a country club's dance. As soon as Joy emerges in a swimsuit, the smitten Warren not only neglects Jackie, he invites her sister to the dance.

A quarrel ensues between the women's parents. Jackie's dad is outraged by the way his daughter is treated, but Joy's mom says he's just miffed that her daughter is more popular than his.

Stevie calls out of the blue, giving Jackie an idea. She emulates her sister's behavior and wardrobe, persuading Stevie to accompany her to the dance. Once there, all the men get a look at the new Jackie and line up to dance with her, as sister Joy looks on, delighted. Now it is Warren who is neglected, so much so that he gets drunk and proposes marriage to both sisters. In the end, he comes to appreciate that Jackie is the one he really loves.

In 1914, the commanding officer of the U.S. Army (Alec B. Francis), with his daughter, Marie (Edith Storey), and Lieutenant Wentworth (Earle Williams), are watching the flight of the latest military aircraft. Wentworth studies aviation and after becoming a pilot, makes his first flight, witnessed by the general's daughter, his sweetheart.

At an informal luncheon, Commander Arthur learns the United States is at war and has to face European enemies. Lieutenant Wentworth is ordered to attack the enemy's fleet, succeeding in sinking two of the enemy battleships.

The enemy shoots down Wentworth on his next flight. Extracting himself from the wreckage, he is badly injured with a broken arm, but manages to report back to his headquarters. He tells Commander Arthur what has occurred, and after recovery at an army hospital, is reunited with Marie. His brave and daring deeds were well received, and Commander Arthur now accepts him as a prospective son-in-law.

In 1870s England, the director of a mental hospital (Berger) is secretly carrying out skin grafts on the patients in an attempt to restore his sister-in-law's mutilated face (it seems she accidentally fell into a lime pit). Meanwhile, a hooded killer is murdering people with a straight razor in the hospital.

Josh is a musically-talented DJ who, after an accidental overdose, goes to live with his estranged father in North Dakota. His journey to make amends with his family, past friends and hometown opens him up to emotional encounters that reveal more than he was expecting.

Rand McCord, owner of a local stage line, has to race his stage against the railroad, with the winner being awarded a government shipping contract. When McCord’s driver, Steve, loses to the railroad's locomotive McCord decides to take up ranching, and offers Steve a job. Soon afterwards Steve reunites with a friend who rode with him as part of Quantrill’s Raiders.

After a series of train robberies railroad detective Bill Cameron is sent to investigate, but the local telegraph operator intercepts a message about his coming, and shares it with the outlaws. Cameron arrives and rides out to speak with McCord, who is familiar with the area. He is near the ranch when he mets McCord’s daughter, Louise, and while the two are talking an outlaw gang begins firing at Cameron. The two escape uninjured. Cameron is impressed with Louise’s courage and tells her that he is a railroad detective.

Cameron becomes suspicious of Steve, and when cattle are rustled the detective tells the sheriff the stolen cattle may be sold to a construction boss buying beef to feed his work crew. Cameron is able to sneak up on the rustlers, but a masked rider causes a diversion, and the outlaws escape.

The outlaw gang try to rob a train while it is stopped for fuel. The masked rider is wounded, but is able to escape to the McCord ranch. The rider is Rand McCord and, before he dies, he confesses to his daughter that he organized the outlaws to steal from the railroad what he thought had been stolen from him.

At the end of the film Bill Cameron and Louise McCord marry.

Rumours have it that a Swiss company is making investment plans to develop a Greek island. A couple of Athenian entrepreneurs rush to the island to buy land and flip it for profit. The Athenian couple, a race-car driver and an actress, meet the resistance of the island's grand old lady who does not wish to sell land to outsiders. The business plans eventually fail to materialise but romance ensues between the actress and the son of the lady as well as the race-car driver and a local girl. The film has references to ancient Greek tragedy and contains elements from it such as a chorus.

In the midst of the Oregon boundary dispute, the President James K. Polk is secretly sending military agents, disguised as pioneers, west on the Oregon Trail so that they may protect American settlers in the event of war with British North America. Rumors of this conspiracy reach James Gordon Bennett Sr. at the ''New York Herald''. He assigns one of his reporters, Neal Harris, to go on the Oregon Trail himself and find out the truth. On the trail, Harris befriends the eccentric Zachariah Garrison, who is bringing apple trees to Oregon. Harris clashes with Capt. George Wayne, the leader of Polk's agents, and they become involved in a love triangle over a young pioneer woman named Prudence Cooper. After they survive various hardships on the trail, Harris discovers who Wayne really is and declares that he will expose the military buildup in Oregon. Wayne tries to have Harris arrested, but he escapes.

Upon arriving at Fort Laramie, Wayne discovers that their mission has become moot with the signing of the Oregon Treaty and the commencement of the Mexican–American War. Not realizing this, Harris goes with a mountain man named Gabe Hastings to hide with the Arapaho. It turns out that Hastings and the Arapaho are hostile to the pioneers, but Harris escapes with the help of Hastings' half-Arapaho daughter Shona. They warn Fort Laramie in time, and the film concludes with a climactic battle against the Arapaho. Fort Laramie is successfully defended, but Garrison is killed. Harris resigns from being a reporter, so that he may continue on to Oregon with Garrison's apple trees. Shona renounces her people and joins Harris. Prudence ends up with Wayne, who is now heading off to join the war against Mexico.

A Texas Ranger (Guy Madison) turns deputy sheriff; a woman (Valerie French) wants him to kill her cattle-baron husband (Lorne Greene).

Historical events

The book includes mentions of Alexander of Macedon and the celebration of Hanukkah as well as the arrival of the Roman Empire in Israel.

Three cousins inherit an old mansion in Plaka and each one have different plans on how they want to develop it. The two Athenian cousins Achilleas and Hippocrates are busy making their own plans while the third cousin arrives from abroad with plans of her own. The film also dealt with the hippie culture and its perception in Greek society as drug-using.

The series focuses on Asta, a young orphan who is left to be raised in an orphanage alongside his fellow orphan, Yuno. While everyone is born with the ability to utilize ''mana'' in the form of magical power, Asta, with no magic however, instead focuses on physical strength. Conversely, Yuno was born as a prodigy with immense magical power and the talent to control wind magic.

Motivated by a desire to become the next Wizard King, an authority figure second to the king of Clover Kingdom, the two youths developed a friendly rivalry. Yuno obtains a legendary four-leaf grimoire held by the kingdom's first Wizard King. The four-leaf grimoire is a rare grimoire, only given to the most immense mages. Asta joins the Black Bulls under Yami Sukehiro alongside Noelle Silva while Yuno becomes a member of the Golden Dawn. They embark on various adventures while contending with an extremist group called the Eye of the Midnight Sun, whose leadership is manipulated by a Devil in avenging an injustice committed against the Elves by the Clover Kingdom at the time of its founding. The Magic Knights then face the Dark Triad of the Spade Kingdom, with Asta and Yuno learning of their Devils’ influence on their lives and of the Dark Triad’s plan to fully manifest the Devils into their world.

Toddy Kent, a former con-artist with a rap sheet in a dozen cities is now working as a door to door gold-buyer in Los Angeles for Milt Vonderheim's jewelry shop. Despite his disreputable line of work, he is able to keep a low profile in fear of the police digging into his criminal past. He lives in a hotel with his wife Elaine. Elaine spends most of Toddy's money on booze, and is a regular in the drunk tank. Their relationship is toxic but Toddy can't bring himself to leave Elaine, despite his friends urging him to. Milt has been a fatherly figure and a good friend to Toddy and Elaine.

Toddy conceptualizes he has carried a "gizmo," a G.I. term for an unidentifiable, most of his life that time and again brings him the big break most men would kill for, only for it to slip through his fingers.

At the outset of the story, Toddy is working and despite wanting to quit for the day, he calls on the last house in the neighborhood. A man named Alvarado, whom Toddy will refer to as "Chinless," answers the door with his massive dobermann which seems to be able to speak English. Toddy has a bad feeling about the man, who invites him in, and although he wants to excuse himself he steps inside. In the living room Toddy spots a heavy gold watch on the table, and is introduced to Alvarado's beautiful companion Dolores Chavez. Paralyzed by fear of the dobermann, Toddy nervously attempts to explain the meaning of his visit. He opens the box he carries to show Alvarado his haul for the day. To demonstrate that he buys gold he picks the watch up off the table, discovering that it weighs ten times what it looks like it should. Inexplicably Alvarado tries to kick Toddy, but hits the dobermann instead. While the doberman is pouncing on Alvarado, Toddy unconsciously drops the gold watch into his box and escapes.

Toddy heads back to Milt's shop, and Milt informs him that Elaine is in jail again. Toddy bails her out and takes her back to their hotel. The two argue and Elaine locks herself in the bathroom. While she is showering Toddy opens his box and discovers Alvarado's golden watch. Upon examination, he realizes its casing is made of a pound of twenty-four karat, pure gold. He hides the watch in his drawer and goes to Milt's shop. He asks Milt about selling large quantities of gold but Milt, knowing the risks, is not interested. Toddy heads back home and finds his room ransacked and Elaine strangled to death with a stocking. He looks out the window and sees a man on the fire escape with his leg caught.

The man is Donald, an enforcer for a small-time protection racket run by a man named Shake. Toddy forces Donald back to Shake's hideout and interrogates the two men. Donald claims to know nothing of Elaine's murder or the gold watch, he merely came upon the scene having gone to the hotel to extort Toddy. Toddy wrestles with feelings of guilt and relief at Elaine's death, and ponders leaving town, as he will be the prime suspect in her murder.

Out o the street Toddy spots Dolores in a parked convertible with the dobermann in the back seat. The dobermann chases Toddy down and brings him back to the car. Dolores takes Toddy to Alvarado's house. Alvarado demands Toddy return the gold watch but Toddy tells him it is gone and his wife has been murdered. Alvarado denies involvement, and Dolores corroborates this by saying she checked out the hotel room and there was no dead body. Alvarado reveals he is an agent of a foreign government-operated gold-smuggling ring. He tells Toddy his gold supplier wants out of the operation and probably murdered Elaine to frame Alvarado thus blowing the ring's cover. He tells Toddy to wait for him in Tijuana.

Milt takes a phone call from Alvarado revealing that he is the gold-supplier to Alvarado's group of South American gold-smugglers and he murdered Elaine to get Toddy out of the picture.

Meanwhile, a bale bondsman named Airedale Aahrens is hired to bring Elaine into court for her misdemeanor drunk and disorderly. He goes to Toddy's hotel room but finds nothing except a wisp of hair in the clamp of the incinerator stack. He suspects Elaine is dead and her body was burned.

Toddy meets Dolores in Tijuana and she takes him to San Diego to see Alvarado. Later Alvarado reveals he intends to silence them all to conceal his operation and shows Toddy two coffins containing his dobermann and Dolores, both drugged with chloroform. A struggle ensues, shots are fired, and the dobermann wakes up and kills Alvarado. Toddy revives Dolores from the chloroform and they share an intimate moment just as the police arrive. Toddy is arrested and Dolores is released because she has a student visa and no criminal record.

In police custody Toddy has concluded that Milt is Alvarado's gold supplier and convinces treasury agent McKinley to release him to track Milt down. Toddy goes to Milt's shop and accuses him of the whole plot. Dolores arrives, as she had been lured there by Milt. Elaine, who faked her own death, emerges with a gun from behind a curtain. Milt wanted to steal Elaine from Toddy, and brought her into the plot with the promise of living rich. Milt and Elaine take Toddy and Dolores in a car to the beach to kill them and dispose of their bodies in the ocean. Elaine double-crosses Milt and shoots him. Just as she is about to shoot Toddy, federal agents who had been tailing them arrive and gun her down. Toddy reflects that his golden gizmo is finally gone for good.

During the Vietnam War, the fighting spills over into neighboring Cambodia when the United States military begins bombing North Vietnamese forces attempting to shelter in the neutral territory, commencing the Cambodian Civil War. The U.S. then pulls out of Cambodia and evacuates its embassy. An officer of the Khmer National Armed Forces, Ung, known as "Pa" to his seven children, including 5-year-old Loung Ung, expresses regret for having trusted the Americans as the Khmer Rouge draw closer.

The Khmer Rouge forces all families to leave the city as refugees, under the pretext that it will be bombed by Americans. Pa Ung denies working for the government when questioned by the Khmer Rouge soldiers, knowing that he will be killed if discovered. The family is found by "Uncle" (Loung's maternal uncle), Pa's brother-in-law, and Loung's family stays with Uncle's family for some time. However, at the insistence of Uncle's wife, who fears the consequences if Pa's identity is discovered, Loung's family has to leave.

After days of travel they are rounded up by Khmer Rouge soldiers and taken with other refugees to a labor camp, where they have to build their own shelter and are forced to work under harsh conditions. Their possessions are confiscated, food is scarce as all crops are sent to fighting units, and any attempt to get more food is punished with merciless beatings. Loung is a witness to her siblings' merciless beatings as they try to get more food for themselves and their family.

Aside from hard work, the camp preaches the regime propaganda, and any foreign items (including life-saving medicine) are forbidden and carry a death penalty. Loung's two oldest brothers and oldest sister are reassigned to other camps, and soon afterward her sister dies from sickness and starvation.

One day Loung sees Pa taken away by the Khmer Rouge officials to repair a bridge. Knowing what awaits him, he says goodbye to his wife and children. Later on, Loung has a nightmare in which she sees him executed and buried in a mass grave.

Soon afterward, Ma tells Loung, her brother Kim, and her older sister Chou to flee in different directions and seek new working camps under false identities as orphans. Loung and her sister separate from their brother and reach another camp.

There, Loung is recruited to be a child soldier for the Khmer Rouge. The Vietnamese have come to rescue Cambodia from Khmer Rouge. Loung learns hand-to-hand combat, shooting, and preparation of traps, and works on laying mine fields against the Vietnamese. Children are constantly taught propaganda and bitter hatred of the Vietnamese, but they get more food and are treated better than workers in the labor camps.

One day Loung gets a pass to visit her sister in the labor camp, but instead she travels to the camp where her mother and youngest sister were left behind. She finds their hut empty, and an old woman tells her that her family was taken away by the Khmer Rouge soldiers. That night Loung dreams about her mother lying dead in a mass grave with her youngest sister left next to her corpse to die.

Loung's camp is destroyed by Vietnamese shelling, forcing her to flee along with other civilians. On the road she reunites with her brother and sister who stay for a night in a temporary refugee camp managed by Vietnamese troops, where the siblings join a group of children. As the camp is attacked by Khmer Rouge forces the next morning, they slip behind the defending Vietnamese to escape the fighting into jungle, where Loung is separated from her siblings and witnesses other refugees killed and maimed by the mines that she herself helped set.

The three siblings are reunited in another refugee camp that is run by the Red Cross. There Loung sees people beating a captured Khmer Rouge soldier. She sees him as her father and flashes back to the violence in her life. As she cries out, "Pa", to the man, the aggressors disperse. Loung looks at the beaten man and walks away.

As the war ends, Loung and her younger siblings are reunited with their older brothers who also survived the camps. The movie ends with all the children in present time, praying with the monks for their lost family members in the ruins of a Buddhist temple.

Nidali's story is narrated in first person. Coming from a mixed background and moving so frequently, Nidali is always aware of her difference. The story is set upon a backdrop of ethnic division, politics, war, culture, and the looming theme of "home". Although Nidali is battling war and strife, she is also subject to battle with her Palestinian father who has specific expectations and strict rules for his daughter throughout the novel.

Nidali is born in Boston to a Palestinian father (Baba) and Egyptian mother (Mama) and acquires an American passport. From the beginning, her life struggle is foreshadowed when she is given the name Nidali, the feminine version of "Nidal", which means "strife" or "struggle". Nidali begins growing up in Kuwait. However, her family is forced to flee to Egypt in 1990 when Saddam Hussein conducts the Iraqi Invasion. On her 13th birthday, bombs begin to go off, and Nidali's birthday goes unremembered. The family then travels by car to Egypt and settles into their summer home for safety.

In Egypt, Nidali is sent to live with her sick grandparent, giving her more freedom, being away from her father. This is where her relationship with her boyfriend Fakhr flourishes. The couple is most often depicted riding bikes and finding secret spots for their first sexual experience together. Throughout the book, Nidali navigates public affection and sexual experiences under the strict Arab law, as well as exploring masturbation. After spending time in Egypt, Nidali's father, Baba, declares he will find a job in the United States. After searching, he is chosen for a job in Texas as an architect. Baba flies to Texas first and establishes a mobile home. Soon after, Nidali, Mama, and her brother, Gamal, arrive in America.

Nidali is forced to transition from Eastern to Western culture quickly. In America, Nidali navigates life as an American learning customs, practices, holidays, and more. Here, Nidali attends a public high school, and takes interest in a boy named Omar Medina. She continues battling with her Baba as well. Nidali admits to her aspirations of becoming a writer and submits an application to a college in Boston. After much struggle and even running away from home, Nidali receives permission from her Mama and Baba to attend college in Boston.

In India of the 70s and 80s, various sects were founded to meditation and self-help. One of this sects is the so-called ''Taylor-Eriksson-group'', which exorcise the "dark part of the human souls" with the help of radical experiments. All members had taken the vow of silence and its nearly impossible to get information about the group's practices, after the sects are disbanded.

The film is an anthology that connects three independent German horror short films, using the mysterious cult of this sect as a wrap-around story. During the film, the dark secrets of the sect are become known. The three chapters of the movie are named after motives from the Hinduism and are about the former members of the ''Taylor-Eriksson-group''.

Chapter 1: Shakti

The journalist Tansu Yilmaz is visiting a psychiatry in Berlin to get more information of Elisabeth Steinberg, a former member of the sect. Steinberg is suspected for the complicity in the mysterious death of her guru Sarmafan. Supposedly, she instigated an communard from his sect to murder the guru. Yilmaz is engage her in a lot of contradictions and finds out the truth. Beginning as an interview, it follows a nightmarish struggle of life or death.

Chapter 2: Devi

Dr. Steiner should help the hooligan Robin Borg, who is trying to escape from the therapeutic approaches by Steiner. Because of the honesty and aggressiveness of Robin, the doctor is mocking his patient. Finally, Steiner taken the first sentence of Robin in the conversation, "I want to get out of my skin!", literally, and force him to shedding his skin using hypnosis.

Chapter 3: Kali

The healer Edgar, medicate the patient Mira in a group therapy. She seems to be afflicted by a mysterious disease since her stay in India. Actually Edgar can heal her, but afterwards, a dark force creeps through the old villa, where the therapies take place. Miras "disease" consequently was a being from an otherworldly dimension, which is need of a new host.

Ten years after the events chronicled in the prior novel, ''Live by Night'', Joe Coughlin is working as the consigliere to the crime family headed by his former partner Dion Bartolo. Outwardly, Joe is a respectable Tampa-area businessman active in charity events and a devoted single father to his son, Tomás. Inside the crime family, Joe is seen as a golden goose, as his sound business decisions enabled the family to profit in the years between Prohibition and World War II, and serves as a go-between for respectable society and the crime syndicate. He is seen as untouchable, but Joe soon learns from a convicted murderer that a hit has been placed on him, and spends the next two weeks unraveling the motives for the hit while simultaneously trying to avoid it.

Set in an unnamed Arabic country, the two main characters are The Imam, the hypocritical leader of the country, full of hatred and spite towards anybody born more fortunate than him, and a beautiful illegitimate orphan, Bint Allah (Daughter of God). The story centres around two extremely grisly events. First, the stoning and mutilation of a woman, performed more to terrorize his opponents and silence his critics than to conform to God’s will, leaves the reader in no doubt as to the brutality of the ruling power. The second event is the assassination of the Imam himself, and the turmoil this brings to the country.

Los Angeles resident Nick Clark wakes up one morning in a heroin den in an abandoned church, to find the floor covered in blood and several mangled corpses throughout the building. Terrified, he tries to find his girlfriend Gloria, but discovers her eating a corpse. He flees the church, but after running into the street, he is hit by a car and hospitalized. At the hospital, the doctor tells his mother Madison Clark and step-father Travis Manawa about what Nick claims to have seen, but assures them that it was likely nothing more than a drug-induced hallucination. Madison accepts this but Travis remains skeptical, and decides to visit the church himself, finding the rooms covered in blood and viscera but with no sign of any corpses or Gloria. He tells this to Madison, but she dismisses it and tells him not to enable Nick. At her job as a high school guidance counselor, Madison grows concerned by the increasing number of students who are absent for illness, and she confiscates a pocket knife from one student who claims to be carrying it to defend himself against some unknown threats. Travis, who teaches at the same high school, struggles to balance his job with both caring for Nick and also trying to maintain his relationship with his ex-wife Liza Ortiz and their joint-custody son Chris. Meanwhile, Nick's sister Alicia becomes more worried about Nick's drug dependency, while also dealing with her boyfriend Matt seemingly ignoring her texts and not showing up to a date that they had planned.

The next day, the school closes early due to the high levels of absenteeism and rumors of an epidemic. Video footage begins circulating of first responders at a traffic accident being attacked by a reanimated corpse, which endures dozens of gunshots and injuries without stopping. Upon seeing this footage, Travis and Madison realize that everything Nick saw at the church was real. Before they can get to him, however, Nick manages to escape from the hospital and meets with his friend and dealer Calvin. Nick hopes to learn if the drugs that Calvin sold him were laced with anything that might have caused hallucinations in the church, which Calvin denies. Calvin then tells Nick that Madison and Travis had approached him earlier asking if he knew Nick's whereabouts. He accuses Nick of telling them about his drug dealing; Nick denies this, and Calvin seems to believe him. He offers to help Nick by buying him food and bringing him to an isolated river to offer him more heroin. Upon arriving at the river, however, Nick notices Calvin retrieve a gun from the trunk, and realizes that Calvin plans to kill him to prevent him from exposing his drug dealership. Nick is able to defend himself, and in the ensuing struggle, Calvin is mortally shot. Nick flees the area and calls Travis to come pick him up. He arrives with Madison and Nick explains the ordeal to them, but when they return to the river, Calvin's body is nowhere to be found. Believing Nick to be hallucinating again, the two of them return to their vehicle, until a reanimated Calvin attacks them. Nick runs over Calvin repeatedly with Travis' truck, and the three watch in disbelief as the mutilated Calvin is still able to turn his head towards them.

After the death of his infant sister, 8-year-old American boy Wes tells his grieving parents that he is a Mongolian goat-herder who was born in the wrong place. Joined by an ambitious young filmmaker named Ismail, Wes leads his family to Mongolia on a soul-searching journey.

Naser and his family are invited on a journey to Brazil by Dream Vacation Agency. Angel, a Brazilian girl is confused by Naser because she thinks that Naser is her missing husband, Salvador.

Former ethics Professor Allen King (Tate Donovan) has some problems. After being terminated for plagiarizing the work of a student, he hits a personal rock bottom. To survive and get the cash he needs to cover his ex-wife Margaret's (Rachael Harris) expenses, he ends up shuttling illegal immigrants across the border and into Arizona from Mexico. On his most recent trip, he is accompanied by his pregnant Mexican girlfriend Anna (Ana de la Reguera) and his teenage daughter Emily (India Ennenga). While still south of the US border and with three undocumented immigrants supplied by human trafficker Ramon Velazquez (Miguel Sandoval) stuffed in the trunk of the car, the party crosses paths with crooked US Border Patrol officers Rick (Stephen Lang) and Cass (Michael Sirow).

A good-hearted and patriotic Italian immigrant barber Tony Pasqual (Leo Carrillo) who takes pity on embittered war veteran Bob Richards (Eddie Garr). When Richards robs him, Pasqual responds by helping Richards find a job. Richards dies while trying to rescue young Dickie Chester (Dickie Moore) from illicit gambling, and Pasqual takes in Chester and his mother (Lois Wilson). Big Joe Reardon (Henry Clive) is unsuccessful in using public displays of charitable good deeds to fool Pasqual into believing that he's not the neighborhood crime boss, so he has the barber shop destroyed. Pasqual gets Reardon apprehended by the police by telling his story on radio.

Isa, Alice, Léa and Nina are friends and share their disappointments in love, work and family issues. United by the Sephardic Jewish religion and their families, they must deal with traditions and needs of modern life. Marrying an employee to arrange for French nationality, manage tax audits, raise children, participate in family gatherings and follow her diet ... Small hassle and big problems mingle with the story.

The film begins in 1989 at the offices of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, also known as CERN, where Tim Berners Lee is working on his aspirations for the World Wide Web. He reflects to himself in private that this project could go on to promote "world peace" and also help people "share pictures of kittens". Upon leaving his office, Stephen Fry describes how a short-sighted assistant could have changed the course of humanity if she had accidentally put Tim Berners Lee's research in a waste paper basket. The film then goes on to depict a succession of sketches played out by global tech entrepreneurs in which they are forced to carry out analogue versions of their digital jobs. In order of appearance:

The film then returns to CERN to find Tim Berners Lee desperately looking for his research for creating the World Wide Web. As he becomes more and more distressed, his assistant walks through the door holding the papers stating that she had read them overnight. When Tim Berners Lee asks her if she thinks the research stands a chance in working, she ponders "50/50", much to his disappointment.

Half-brothers Noah and Gilead attend their archeologist father's funeral and, after recounting and comparing each other's misfortunes, become convinced that their misery is caused by a curse upon their father and his descendants resulting from the father's theft of the Holy Grail. Their solution is to embark on a quest for the Grail and return it to the location from which it was disturbed and removed by their father.

After the run-in with the reanimated Calvin, Nick, Madison, and Travis decide that the best action would be to flee to the desert. They return to pick up Alicia, who has gone to Matt's house, where he is lying ill with a high fever; she initially refuses to leave Matt's side, but reluctantly agrees when he insists that it would be for her own safety. Before leaving, Travis notices a bite wound on Matt's shoulder, which Madison theorizes may be one way of how the illness spreads. The four of them returns to Madison's home to gather supplies. Travis leaves to pick up Liza and Chris, and Madison leaves to try and find medication when Nick begins to suffer from heroin withdrawal. She drives to the school where she is able to get some Oxycodone. While there, she encounters a student, Tobias, scavenging food from the cafeteria. As the two of them prepare to leave, they discover the reanimated corpse of the principal, Artie, who tries to attack Tobias; after a brief struggle, Madison is able to put down Artie, and she drives Tobias home. Back at the house, Alicia attempts to leave to visit Matt but is stopped when Nick begins to have a seizure; she is able to help him recover and saves him from nearly choking on his own vomit. Madison arrives home shortly after, and tries to call Travis, but receives no response.

Meanwhile, while taking the bus home, Chris gets trapped in a traffic jam caused by a reanimated corpse being shot by the police. He and the other passengers exit the bus and join a growing crowd of protestors, who believe that the police shot a homeless man. Chris begins filming the event, as the crowd grows larger and more violent. Travis arrives at Liza's house and the two call Chris, who tells them where he is; they drive to the protest and attempt to bring him home, but a riot erupts after police shoot down another reanimated corpse. The three of them flee and are able to seek refuge in a barbershop owned by a man named Daniel Salazar, who has been sheltering inside with his wife Griselda and their daughter Ofelia. Travis calls Madison and explains their situation; she tells him that she was able to get the Oxycodone and plans to use it to slowly wean Nick off of his dependency. Travis tells her to take Nick and Alicia to the desert without him, and that he will catch up later on; she refuses, insisting that they will continue waiting for him. After they lose connection, Alicia witnesses her reanimated neighbor, Mr. Dawson, attack another neighbor, Mrs. Cruz, across the street; she tries to go intervene but Madison stops her. Back inside the barbershop, the Manawas and the Salazars remain trapped, and watch as the riot outside intensifies.

When a suicide bomber detonates his vest on the floor of the Eclipse casino, owned by Catherine Willows, the FBI special agent returns from Los Angeles to join the investigation. Gil Grissom, meanwhile, working to preserve sharks in international waters, is arrested for trespassing at the Port of San Diego, and D.B. Russell offers Sara Sidle the chance to supervise the local investigation into the bombing. Sidle, who is vying for the position of director of the Las Vegas Crime Lab, is initially irked when Sheriff Conrad Ecklie inquires about Grissom's location when "Lady" Heather Kessler is linked to the crime. Ecklie ensures Grissom is released from custody, and Willows and he, alongside Eclipse security officer Jim Brass, assist in locating the suspect.

As the team works to restore safety to the streets of Las Vegas, Russell decides it is time for him to "head East" and pursue new challenges, while he places a plaque, dedicated to the memory of Julie Finlay, alongside his personal possessions. Willows expresses an interest in leaving the FBI and working alongside her daughter Lindsey in the Las Vegas Crime Lab, noting that, should Sidle reject the promotion she is going to be offered, Willows will accept it in lieu of her former colleague. The series ends with the newly promoted Sidle, upon hearing a recording of Grissom confessing his love for her, sailing from the Port of San Diego with Grissom.

Corazon Rivera (Nora Aunor) is a factory worker in a textile firm. Her live-in partner is her ambitious co-worker, Robert de Asis (Phillip Salvador), a law student. One day, she finds herself pregnant; he is not pleased with the news. Nevertheless, they are married in civil rites. He does not inform his office of his change in status. He is about to get himself into the good graces of his boss. He is made the boss’ chauffeur. Cynthia Ocampo (Hilda Koronel), the boss’ daughter, falls in love with him and also becomes pregnant. They plan a church wedding. But first, he must get rid of his first wife. He attempts to push her off a cliff in Baguio. He changes his mind but the hysterical woman slips and falls to her death. He is sentenced to a prison term.

The game is set in the world of Erdrea and begins as the kingdom of Dundrasil is invaded and destroyed by an army of monsters. The protagonist, an infant during the attack, survives and is found floating down a river by an old man named Chalky in the village of Cobblestone. The protagonist is adopted by Chalky's daughter Amber and raised in the village. After the protagonist's coming-of-age ceremony, Amber reveals the truth to him about his birth and adoption and sends him to meet King Carnelian of Heliodor. However, the king accuses him of being an evil entity and throws him into the dungeons.

Imprisoned, the protagonist meets a thief named Erik who reveals that he was sent to meet him, as the mark on his hand is proof that he is the Luminary, a legendary hero chosen by the world tree Yggdrasil to save Erdrea from evil. The pair escape and evade capture, later joined by two mages: Veronica, who is trapped in a child's body due to a curse, and her twin sister, Serena. On their quest to help the Luminary reach Yggdrasil, they gain three other companions: Sylvando, a traveling entertainer, Jade, the exiled princess of Heliodor who helped the infant protagonist escape during the attack of Dundrasil, and Rab, the former king of Dundrasil and the protagonist's grandfather.

The party eventually arrives at the heart of Yggdrasil, which contains the Sword of Light, the Luminary's destined weapon. However, just as the Luminary is about to take it, he and the party are intercepted by Carnelian and his retainers Jasper and Hendrik. It is revealed that Carnelian was possessed by an evil sorcerer known as Mordegon, also was responsible for Dundrasil's destruction, and Jasper is Mordegon's agent. The two subdue Hendrik and the Luminary's party, with Mordegon taking the Sword of Light, corrupting it into the Sword of Shadows, and absorbing the heart of Yggdrasil, destroying the tree and plunging the world into an age of darkness.

Separated from the others, the Luminary returns to Cobblestone, turned into a fortified refuge for Heliodor citizens led by Carnelian and Hendrik, who apologize to the Luminary for all the troubles they caused him. Hendrik joins forces with the Luminary, and together they reclaim Heliodor from Mordegon's forces. At one point, a dark spirit summons a mysterious orb called Erdwin's Lantern, however Mordegon destroys it so no one stands in his way. After reuniting with the rest of the party, except for Veronica, who perished saving the others during the fall of Yggdrasil, the Luminary obtains the means to forge a new Sword of Light, which they use to defeat Jasper and Mordegon, restoring Yggdrasil and the world.

Afterwards, the party discovers the means to bring Veronica (and other people who perished) back within the Tower of Lost Time. There, they meet the Timekeeper, who gives the Luminary the power to go back in time and defeat Mordegon before he can steal the Sword of Light and Yggdrasil's heart, thus saving Veronica from sacrificing herself and preventing Mordegon's dark age. However, due to Mordegon's absence, Erdwin's Lantern wasn't destroyed, thus the dark spirit is able to merge with it and awaken as the game's other main antagonist: The Dark One, Calasmos. The party learns that a prior Luminary named Erdwin was betrayed and killed by his mage companion Morcant, who absorbed Calasmos' powers and transformed into Mordegon. Since he could not be destroyed forever without the power of the Luminary, Serenica, Erdwin's former sage companion and lover, then sealed the weakened Calasmos within Erdwin's Lantern and attempted to return to the past at the Tower of Lost Time, but was turned into the Timekeeper instead.

The party then confronts and destroys Calasmos, before the Luminary entrusts his mark to Serenica, who reverts to her original form and uses it to return to the past and reunite with Erdwin. Accompanied by Veronica and Serena, he also returns the Sword of Light to Yggdrasil, who reveals itself to be Yggdragon, an ancient dragon of light who was defeated by Calasmos ages ago, whose body transformed into the tree Yggdrasil and gave life to Erdrea. Yggdragon bestows upon the Luminary the title of "Erdrick", the mightiest of all heroes, and keeps the Sword for the day when a new hero will need it to defend Erdrea from evil.

In the mid-credits, Serenica reunites with Erdwin in the past, while after the credits, a young mother, after reading the Luminary's story in a book, wakes up her child from bed, setting up the beginning of ''Dragon Quest III''.

Jonathan Ford, haunted by his past, wanders aimlessly through Australia and Europe until he meets two sisters.

The story takes place in the Seven Realms, multiple kingdoms which surround the capital of Accordia. One thousand years prior to the start of the game, the Seven Realms were locked in a brutal war that was brought to an end by the wisdom of a great king named Unos, and his descendants would continue to maintain this peace to the present day.

In the port kingdom of Harba, cousins Lazarel and Teresa (the main protagonists) fend off a sudden and unprovoked invasion from the neighboring kingdom of Dunisia, where their friend Prince Cesar lives. Accompanied by Desdemona, royal guard to the King of Accordia, the cousins travel to Dunisia to confront Cesar, who blames the king of Harba for the murder of his father. The matter is taken to the King of Accordia, who suggests that the four of them launch an investigation into the realm of Ingenia to find the true murderer.

During their travels, Lazarel and Teresa cross paths with various heroes who claim to have come from other worlds (the worlds of past ''Dragon Quest'' games). They agree to accompany the cousins as they investigate the growing discontent throughout the Seven Realms, culminating in a full-scale war with the Kings of the Beastlands. After a long and arduous battle, a cease-fire is finally reached and Accordia celebrates the end of the war.

The King of Accordia suddenly appears, accompanied by whom appears to be his twin brother, and declares that humankind is to be sentenced to death. Lazarel and Teresa confront the Kings in Accordia's castle and fight them until one of the twins kills the other. The "twin" is revealed to be Fractos, Unos's brother who triggered the war 1,000 years ago and manipulated all the recent events (among them killing Cesar's father) so he could plunge the world into darkness. During the chaos, Lazarel and Teresa realize that they are not cousins as originally thought, but twin siblings and descendants of Unos. Joining their power together, they destroy Fractos and later become the new rulers of Accordia.

In 1968, Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay returns home to New Bordeaux and reunites with his surrogate father and Black Mob leader Sammy Robinson, his adoptive brother Ellis, and his friend, Father James Ballard. While initially planning to leave for California, Lincoln agrees to stay and help Sammy, who is facing problems from the Haitian Mob and is indebted to mob boss Sal Marcano. Lincoln ends the conflict with the Haitians by killing their leader and meets with Marcano to see how he can cover Sammy's debts. Although Lincoln declines his suggestion to take over the Black Mob from Sammy, Marcano nonetheless recruits him and Ellis to help his son Giorgi rob the city's branch of the Federal Reserve during the local Mardi Gras celebrations. Aided by their friend Danny Burke, whose father is also looking to settle matters with Marcano after a previous falling out, the group carries out the heist with little complications, but the Marcanos turn on them afterward, killing Sammy, Ellis, and Danny, then setting the bar on fire. Lincoln was also shot and left to die but is rescued by James.

After recovering, Lincoln contacts his former CIA handler John Donovan, who agrees to help for unknown reasons and assists him by locating three crime bosses that also seek revenge against Marcano: new Haitian leader Cassandra, eyeing Delray Hollow, which was taken over by the Dixie Mafia; Danny's father and Irish Mob boss Thomas Burke, whose turf was also given to a rival by Marcano; and exiled Sicilian mafioso Vito Scaletta, who joined Marcano's ranks as part of a deal made with the Commission, but was eventually betrayed and left for dead after Marcano's nephew took over. After reclaiming their respective territories, Lincoln begins violently undoing the Marcano family, taking over their rackets and turf and assigning them to his allies, who slowly come to respect his skill. In the event any are neglected and eventually abandon him, Lincoln must eliminate them.

While dismantling the Marcano family's operations and attacking Marcano's lieutenants, Lincoln learns that Marcano has recently begun building a new casino with the intention of becoming independent of the Commission, and the main intent of the heist was to steal money plates. Lincoln proceeds to attack Marcano's three capos who were tasked with obtaining real estate, counterfeiting money to cover mounting expenses, and getting politicians to legalize gambling. After all three capos all dealt with, Lincoln attacks the casino, killing Marcano's remaining men and Giorgi, before confronting Marcano himself. Accepting his fate, he shares a drink with Lincoln while explaining that, although he doesn't regret his actions, he had only tried to improve New Bordeaux and get himself and his family out of the life of crime before anything bad happened to them. After killing Marcano or letting him commit suicide, Lincoln leaves the casino and is greeted by Commission consigliere Leo Galante, sent to investigate the attacks against Marcano. Satisfied that Lincoln's vendetta is over, Galante informs him that he can take over the New Bordeaux underworld provided the Commission receives a cut of the profits.

After Lincoln informs James and Donovan of Marcano's death, the latter leaves the city and advises him to take over, while the former, appalled with such a concept, reminds Lincoln that his goal was to remove Marcano, not replace him, and implores him to stick with his original plan of getting a job in California. At this point, the player must choose Lincoln's fate. The game has multiple endings dependent on Lincoln's choice If Lincoln leaves then one of his allies will take over, If Lincoln stays he will rule with Vito, Cassandra, and Burke or kill all three of them which causes a reluctance and remorseful James to kill him with a car bomb.

Regardless of the ending chosen, Lincoln's actions in New Bordeaux spawn an investigation by the FBI, led by Jonathan Maguire, who is later interviewed for a documentary on Lincoln's life, as is James and a few others who knew him. In 1971, Donovan is brought before a Senate committee to explain his role in Lincoln's crimes. The meeting ends with Donovan revealing he had helped Lincoln because he wanted to investigate Marcano's link as one of the conspirators behind John F. Kennedy's assassination, and shooting a senator who was named in Marcano's files as a co-conspirator, while promising to track down and kill everyone else responsible for President Kennedy's death.

Act One

Mickey is an elderly retiring political operative and political fixer in the US who is planning an elaborate May–December wedding to a young fiancé who is a British national citizen. Mickey is planning to retire in style with his great wealth by arranging for the purchase of a luxurious private jet made in Switzerland for himself and his soon-to-be wife. An entanglement arises when Mickey receives a telephone call in his office indicating that the $5 million tax-saving scheme he has planned for his private jet purchase has gone sour. The foreign Swiss jet was supposed to fully stay out of the US for six months for the $5 million tax-saving scheme to succeed. An apparently trivial malfunction caused the jet to land temporarily on US soil, thus seemingly invalidating Mickey's tax-saving scheme. Not only that, but after the jet finally arrives at its original destination in Toronto, its single passenger, his fiancé, is subjected to a full strip search while being refused entry into Canada. Mickey goes ballistic when he receives this telephone report in his office. He threatens to renege on delivery of the jet on which he still has not fully signed off, and he suspects mischief from a new political candidate and contender in the US with whom he has a history. Mickey begins to suspect that the new candidate, known to him as "the Kid", is the source of upsetting Mickey's $5 million tax saving scheme, and for causing the false report in Toronto which caused his fiancé to be denied entry in Canada and to be strip searched.

Act Two

By the next morning, Mickey realizes that he may have overplayed his hand in lashing out against the jet manufacturer, against his assistant Carson, and against the political operatives of "the Kid". "The Kid" is likely to be the next governor of his State, with many inside ties and favors coming his way from the Federal government by way of "the Kid's" inside government connections. Mickey's worst nightmare comes true when he receives a phone call in his office telling him that "the Kid" has pulled in his Federal government "favors" in order to get Mickey formally charged with a Federal indictment for violation and conspiracy against the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, since the jet purchase he was arranging originated under Swiss manufacture from a Swiss contract. Mickey's only life-line is a dirty-secrets political file he has kept on "the Kid's" family of political office holders, and Mickey uses it to make a plea deal on the phone to "buy" himself out of the Federal Indictment on him against the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The deal requires his assistant, Carson, to play along, since Federal marshals have already been dispatched to arrest Mickey. Carson decides that Mickey is not to be trusted, and that Mickey will sell Carson out as part of Mickey's own plea deal. Carson resolves to abscond with Mickey's dirty-secrets political file right under Mickey's eyes, in order to let himself make his own exonerating plea deal for himself. Mickey gets the jump on Carson before Carson can get out the door and mortally bludgeons him with a heavy-gauge metallic scale model of the jet which he was about to purchase. As the dispatched federal marshalls are heard knocking at his office door, Mickey reverses his tactics once again and starts self-inflicting bloody wounds on his own body while shouting to the federal marshals standing outside his door, "Help me. Will... Will... Oh my God. Will no one help an old man...?", at the final curtain as the play ends.

In order to boost her flagging popularity, former idol group singer Oh In-young (Kim Dasom) agrees to appear in a television reality show that pairs up fake mothers- and daughters-in-law. In-young's partner is Yang Choon-ja (Go Doo-shim), the matriarch of a long-standing traditional clan, and they end up hating each other on the show. But as fate would have it, the two later end up becoming mother and daughter-in-law for real.

The film follows a group of four contestants (a husband and wife on the verge of divorce, a young corporate woman, and a 17-year-old schoolgirl) on a reality TV game show who are locked in the titular "Red Room" to torture each other, with the last person standing winning ten million yen. The contestants are made to pick cards to decide who will pick the torture, who will apply it, and who will be the victim. The tortures chosen start off relatively mild, but gradually escalate into extreme sadism and sexual abuse.

Dakota (Lou Diamond Phillips) is a troubled teenager on the run who takes a job at a Texas ranch to work off his debts. While Dakota restores an antique car, he becomes a pseudo big brother for the rancher's young son, Casey, who lost his leg to cancer. Dakota also begins to fall for the rancher's daughter, Molly.

When she reaches adulthood, Stefania leaves the orphanage at Ascoli Piceno where she was raised and goes to live with her stepfather. He is a humble fisherman who lives in a shack near the sea. He abuses her and she runs away. Stefania ends up living in the home of Laura, one of the teachers at the college. A relationship develops between Stefania and Laura. Later, Stephanie attends a painting school and falls in love with her teacher, Maurizio. Laura, now obsessed with Stefania, ends her own life.

Noël Schoudler is the autocratic head of diversified family enterprises which include a bank, a newspaper and a sugar refinery. His only son François considers the whole set-up archaic and, while his father is on a business trip to the US, starts jazzing up the staid newspaper. On his return, the father is furious and decides to teach his son a lesson. He tells François that he can have the run-down sugar business, to manage as he pleases. Painfully lacking the necessary expertise, the young man launches into enthusiastic modernisation and expansion. It is rapidly brought home to him that he needs capital, which he will have to raise.

When his father tells him he is on his own, he turns to their cousin Maublanc, a malicious playboy who for several reasons hates the Schoudlers. One immediate grievance is that he asked their newspaper to promote his latest mistress, an aspiring actress called Sylvaine, and was not only refused but Noël's devious assistant Lachaume (having just made Noël's niece pregnant) took over the young woman. Feigning helpfulness to François, Maublanc says he will arrange everything with his brokers, but in fact tells them to leak the news that the Schoudler empire has run out of capital. As this will depress the share price, his plan is to buy a controlling interest on the cheap. When the market price starts falling, François is in despair and Maublanc tells him that the only decent thing to do is to put a bullet through his head. Unfortunately, the impressionable young man does so. Noël then goes down to the stock exchange where, speaking to brokers, he reassures them that his businesses are sound. The share price soars and Maublanc's plot is foiled.

Christian Nielsen, a recovering alcoholic, returns home to Australia from the United States for the wedding of his father, Henry, to his much younger housekeeper, Anna.

He finds out that Charlotte, Henry's previous housekeeper, and wife of his childhood friend, Oliver, had an affair with Henry, and that their teen-age daughter, Hedvig, is actually his half-sister. Christian's wife, who was supposed to also attend the wedding, instead dumps him by phone call. Christian, feeling miserable, begins drinking heavily again. At the wedding, hating Henry for how he treated his mother who committed suicide, Christian is compelled to tell Oliver about the affair.

Oliver is devastated, and, after realizing that Hedvig is not his daughter, leaves Charlotte. Christian then tells Hedvig the truth. She goes to Oliver, but he tells her he cannot look at her, after which she tries to commit suicide using her grandfather's shotgun. Oliver and Charlotte reunite in the hospital, where Hedvig lies in recovery.

A group of Mexican migrant workers seek a better life by crossing the US border illegally; when the truck carrying them breaks down in the middle of nowhere, the driver points the migrants and his partner Mechas in the direction of the United States and wishes them luck. Moises (Gael García Bernal) is also a member of the migrants and follows as the group splits in two while trying to pass the border.

Sam (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is a merciless, rifle-toting vigilante who, with his faithful but vicious Malinois dog, Tracker, hunts for rabbits near the border and notices the group trespassing; with the help of Tracker and the use of his M1 Garand rifle, Sam kills most of the group, including Mechas and leaves Moises and Adela (Alondra Hidalgo) as the sole survivors after a long chase. Unable to follow the last two, Sam decides to continue his hunt the next day and leaves with Tracker.

Adela and Moises find a spot to rest, with Adela confessing to Moises that her companion, who was one Sam's victims, was sent by her parents to protect her and even though he molested her during their journey, he didn't deserve to die that way. Moises confesses to Adela that he had already been to the USA and that he has a family waiting for him in Oakland, showing a talking teddy bear which his son gave to him before being deported, and that Moises promised him he would bring it back. Meanwhile, Sam rests by a campfire with Tracker, describing to his loyal dog how he used to love the desert but now the heat is playing with his mind and he wants to escape from it.

The next morning Adela and Moises steal Sam's truck, using the teddy bear to distract Sam and Tracker. The duo manage to start the truck and seem to have finally escaped when Sam shoots Adela in the shoulder, causing Moises to crash the truck. They continue on foot, followed by Sam and Tracker. Moises stops to take care of Adela's wound, then tells her he has to leave her and takes Sam's jacket and flare gun with him. Moises has a change of heart and uses a round of the flare gun to distract Sam from Adela; Tracker closely pursues Moises in a cactus field where Moises is forced to use the flare gun on Tracker and shoot him in the mouth before escaping; Sam finds a mortally wounded Tracker and reluctantly shoots him to end his suffering before swearing vengeance on Moises.

After a long time chasing Moises as they are climbing on a rock structure, Sam is dehydrated and tired; Moises hides between the rocks and pushes Sam as he is standing on the edge, causing both of them to fall and breaking Sam's leg in the process. Both try to reach the rifle, but Moises takes it and menaces Sam with the rifle for murdering so many people and trying to kill Moises and Adela as Sam begs for his life, for forgiveness, and for water. Instead, Moises leaves with the rifle, telling Sam that the desert will kill him and leaves Sam to die despite his pleas for Moises to come back.

Moises returns for Adela; he finds her alive, but unconscious, and carries her until they cross a salt lake.

''True and the Rainbow Kingdom'' follows True and her best friend Bartleby the Cat, as they help the whimsical citizens of the Rainbow Kingdom, a wondrous, colorful universe filled with delightful and fantastical citizens. True is the only one with the ability to activate the magical powers of The Wishes of the Wishing Tree, solve problems in the Rainbow Kingdom, and empower viewers with her imagination, mindfulness, and empathy.

The film tells the story of an Aberdeenshire farm girl Chris Guthrie (Agyness Deyn). Chris is a sensitive writer and extremely good at school, particularly in languages. She lives with her domineering and abusive father, her warm and kind mother, her brother, and two younger siblings. After her father rapes her mother, resulting in the birth of twins, the family moves to a larger home in Kindraddie. While there Chris begins to study at college to become a teacher.

One day Chris's mother warns her of the horror of being raped and shortly after commits suicide, poisoning both herself and her twin newborns. Chris quits her studies and she and her brother commit to helping their father on the farm, while their two younger siblings go to live with their childless aunt and uncle. Chris's brother Will warns her not to let her father run her down the way he did with their mother and tells her his hope of running off to Canada.

Will does eventually leave, though for Aberdeen, though not before briefly introducing her to his friend, fellow farmer Ewan Tavendale.

Chris's father John eventually suffers a debilitating stroke putting the care of the farm entirely on Chris, especially after she learns that her brother has married and sailed for Argentina with his new bride. He also tries to rape Chris, though because of his physical condition he is unable to. He dies shortly afterwards leaving all his property and money to Chris. Rather than sell off his possessions she decides to stay on the farm. Very quickly afterwards she and Ewan fall in love and decide to get married and Chris is relieved that she will be able to stay in Kindraddie.

Chris and Ewan have a loving marriage and she gives birth to a son, Ewan Jr, just as the start of World War I. Ewan at first refuses to enlist, but knowing that conscription will soon be passed he eventually decides to go to war. Ewan comes back on leave a changed man. Violent and abrasive he rapes Chris and the two part on bad terms. Chris eventually receives mail informing her that Ewan is dead. She learns from her friend Chae that Ewan was executed as a deserter because he tried to return home to see Chris, devastated that he never got to kiss her goodbye the last time he saw her.

Detective Starks investigates mysterious murders very similar to those committed by the incarcerated serial killer Henry Lee Bishop. As Starks tries to crack through Bishop's creepy demeanor to get answers, a young deaf boy finds himself witness to a college girl fighting to stay alive on a voyeur house website—webcast from the very house where Bishop committed the murders years before.

A young Italian man who witnesses a kidnapping is killed by criminals. The victim's brother, a Milan metalworker, is then pressured by family and friends to take revenge on his brother's killers.

Horse racing bookmaker Joe Tomasso (Leo Carrillo) becomes involved with homeless waif Jackie Curtis (Junior Coughlan) whose mother abandoned him some years before. Tomasso acts as the young boy's unofficial guardian and agrees to allow him to become a jockey with the stipulation that all his races must be honest ones. Jackie's mother Myra shows up and wants them to be a family again. She becomes upset over her son's involvement in the sport of racing. Tomasso deliberately creates a situation to drive a wedge between himself and Jackie so that the youth will return to his mother.

Two high-school sisters, Stacey and Emma, have recently moved to a suburban area in California, where their father will teach high school science. Emma struggles to integrate into the community while Stacey quickly makes new friends and a boyfriend, CJ.

Emma befriends Evan, her neighbor. Stacey and Emma's parents have a strained relationship, and her mother is out of town. Gracie, Emma's new best friend, begins displaying unusual behavior at school, eating constantly and coughing up blood. She collapses outside the school, where Emma and a male student find her in a seizure-like state. While Emma has gone to get help, Gracie vomits blood on the boy.

Newscasts report that a "worm flu" is spreading through the area. Emma's father goes to retrieve their mother from the airport, but they are prevented from returning to their home because the government has ordered a quarantine to be placed on the whole town.

Stacey attends a party and forces Emma to tag along. During the party, Stacey finds CJ having sex with another student, while the boy from earlier appears, now looking very ill, and starts attacking the party goers. He coughs blood on Stacey, but Evan saves Emma from being infected. Stacey soon finds a growth forming at the base of her neck and she becomes ravenously hungry.

The next day, Emma receives a call from their father, who urges them to secure the entire house. That night, they watch as their next door neighbor, Mr. Toomey, fires his flare gun. The military arrives at the house, restrain Mr. Toomey and drag out his infected wife.

Stacey confesses to Emma that the reason why their parents are having problems is because she caught their father with a student and told their mother. She reveals that nobody wanted to tell Emma, afraid she couldn't handle it. Evan suddenly pounds on the door, begging for the girls to let him in. Just after he enters, Bill, Evan's infected and violent father, breaks in. Evan points out that Bill has bad vision, and they use this as an advantage. Stacey shoots Bill, saving Emma, but suddenly experiences her own seizure.

Emma and Evan lock Stacey in the bathroom to hide her from the military. Emma, recalling lessons from her father's science classes, devises a plan to remove Stacey's parasite from her neck. CJ arrives at the house, and Stacey pulls him into the bathroom and begins to devour his arm. Emma and Evan find CJ dead with his arm ripped off and Stacey saying, "He made me do it". Using drugs, Emma knocks Stacey unconscious and begins to extract the parasite, but Stacey awakes and horrifies them by pulling out the parasite herself.

The next day, local radio announces that the government has ordered an immediate evacuation of the citizens located outside the quarantine zone. Evan and Emma discover that Stacey has left the house with all the food. They pursue her into a house and discover a large group of infected people. They find Stacey, who tells them that she can hear what the infected are saying as the parasite begins to gain full control of her. Emma, having no other choice, shoots her sister. She and Evan escape through the window, barely saving themselves as the military bomb the entire area.

Emma and Evan arrive at the gas station her father called from and find a photo of the family, with a note on the back that says to meet her parents at her uncle's residence in Washington State. Evan takes a vacant car from the station and the two depart for Washington.

The story is narrated in the first person by Mustafa ibn Muhammad ibn Abdussalam al-Zamori, a Moroccan slave who has been taken by his Spanish master, Andrés de Dorantes, on an expedition to the New World. The expedition lands in Florida in the vicinity of what is now Tampa Bay. Under the leadership of Pánfilo de Narváez, the men leave their ships behind and travel inland to look for gold. As they journey northward, they face resistance by indigenous tribes, suffer from disease and starvation, and quarrel with one another. Within a year there are only four survivors: Cabeza de Vaca, the treasurer of the expedition; Alonso del Castillo, a young nobleman, Andrés de Dorantes, one of the captains; and his Moroccan slave, Mustafa, whom the other three Spaniards refer to as Estebanico. Together, these four survivors travel westward, crossing the continent and living among indigenous tribes, reinventing themselves along the way as faith healers. Some years later, they are found by a party of Spanish slavers and brought to Mexico City, where they are asked to provide testimony about their journey—all except the slave, who tells his own story in the novel.

In 1941, German-born Henry Bremmer (Frank Reicher) owns the Park Hotel in New York City. When Japan attacks Pearl Harbor, Bremmer correctly fears that Germany will soon declare war on the U.S., but his wife is in Germany convalescing after surgery. He sends his lawyer, Carl Becker (Craig Stevens), to Washington to arrange to get her to the U.S., but neither the State Department nor the German Embassy can help.

Bremmer's chauffeur suggests approaching Dr. Woodford (Robert Warwick), who has connections in Germany; but Woodford (a false name) is actually the leader of a Nazi spy ring based at the hotel (the chauffeur and several hotel staff are also members). He threatens Bremmer's wife if Bremmer does not join them, but will get her to the U.S. if he does.

Carl intends to join the military, but when he returns from Washington to his New York office, his old friend Jim Jackson (Charles Lang) visits and tries to persuade Carl he can better serve his country by joining The Department of Counter-Espionage. Next, they talk about Carl's girlfriend Paula Fengler (Faye Emerson), a lounge singer at the Park Hotel. Carl wants to introduce Jim to her, but Jim is very busy while he is in New York. Carl has the idea of getting Jim a room at the Park. Jim happily accepts, since he, along with his friend John Trent (John Ridgely), is part of the team investigating the Park Hotel ring.

But when Jim checks in, the spies recognize him from a photo as a government agent, and demand Bremmer tell who he is. To Bremmer's horror, Woodford promptly orders Jim killed. A bellhop delivers a radio, and when Jim turns it on, a concealed mechanism ignites chemicals to produce poison gas.

Police declare that the death was suicide, but Carl does not believe them. He goes to Washington and applies to join Counter-Espionage. John initially suspects that Carl is part of the spy ring, but after time, decides to trust him. When another agent is killed in New York, Carl and John return there to take up the case.

Carl also takes up again with Paula, telling her about his new job. She says, "I'm glad you're not after me"; he answers romantically, "What makes you think I'm not?" But as soon as she is alone, she calls Woodford to warn him. Woodford secretly listens in as Carl tells Bremmer they now know what the German agent (Woodford) looks like and will soon arrest the whole ring.

Bremmer has a hunting lodge in the Adirondacks, and Woodford orders him to go there. A bellhop delivers the poison radio to Carl and John's room, but they are prepared for the attack and soon capture Woodford and another spy. However, after Carl mentions to Paula what train they are being taken to Washington on, Nazi agents attack it and free them.

A clue left by Bremmer leads the Counter-Espionage agents to the Adirondack lodge, where the spies are using Bremmer's ham radio to contact a German submarine. Carl later learns that Bremmer has also used it, setting up an attack on the sub. After a gun battle in which Bremmer is fatally shot, the government agents use tear gas and all the surviving spies are captured except Woodford.

Woodford returns to the hotel to collect his wife—Paula. Carl arrives; Woodford pulls a gun; Carl kills him with a concealed gun. He then tells Paula he is taking her away on a "little trip"—and arrests her.

While out on patrol, Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) fails to stop a robbery, but manages to stop one criminal with help from Batman. Paris Franz, the robbers' leader and the nephew of a powerful mob boss, develops a dangerous obsession with her and starts sending her messages. After Franz tricks her into finding his uncle's dead body, Batman becomes concerned about her safety and takes her off the case, telling her that she will eventually be tempted to kill the criminals she pursues. Outraged, Batgirl attacks Batman physically and verbally, which leads to them having sex. A few nights later, Batgirl tries to apologize to Batman, but he is ambushed by Franz and his men, prompting her to come to his aid. When she arrives and overpowers Franz, he makes her lose control and give him a savage beating, stopping just short of killing him. Realizing Batman was right, she retires from crime-fighting.

Later, Batman investigates a murder scene with Detective Harvey Bullock and concludes that the Joker, currently held at Arkham Asylum, might be behind the crime. He goes to Arkham to talk to him, only to discover that he has escaped and put a decoy in his place. Joker then attacks Barbara and her father, Commissioner James Gordon. He shoots her in the stomach, paralyzing her from the waist down, and takes Gordon to an abandoned amusement park. There, Joker strips him naked and subjects him to torture, including showing him photos he took of Barbara, naked and in pain.

The story is intercut with flashbacks of Joker's origin. It is revealed that he was once a lab technician who quit his job to become a stand-up comedian, only to fail miserably. Desperate to support his pregnant wife Jeannie, he agrees to help two criminals rob his former workplace. The criminals tell him that he has to use the Red Hood's mask and caped costume, secretly intending to frame him. During the planning, the police inform him that Jeannie and their unborn child have died in a household accident. Grief-stricken, he tries to withdraw from the plan, but the criminals strong-arm him into keeping his commitment to them.

At the plant, the criminals and the costumed comedian run into security personnel, and a shootout occurs. The criminals are gunned down and the comedian is confronted by Batman. Terrified, the comedian trips and falls into the chemical plant's waste pond, and is swept through a pipe leading to the outside. As he removes his mask, he sees the chemicals have permanently disfigured his face, giving him a clown-like appearance. His disfigurement, combined with the loss of his family, and what he had experienced in the chemical plant drives him insane and transforms him into the Joker.

In the present, Batman finds and saves Gordon, while the Joker flees. Despite his ordeal, Gordon remains sane and demands that Batman capture the Joker "by the book". Batman follows the Joker as the latter tries to persuade him that the world is just one big joke and that "one bad day" is enough to drive an ordinary man insane. Batman subdues Joker, tells him that Gordon has remained sane, and concludes that Joker is alone in his madness. He then attempts to reach out to him, offering rehabilitation. Joker apologetically declines, saying it is too late for him.

Joker then says that the situation reminds him of a joke about two patients in an insane asylum who try to escape by leaping over to the adjoining building. The first patient makes it across, but the second patient is afraid that he will fall. The first patient gets an idea: "Hey, I got this flashlight with me. I'll just shine it across the gap between the buildings and you can walk across the beam and join me." The second patient questions the idea: "What do you think I am, crazy? You'll just turn it off when I'm halfway across!" Initially stoic, Batman soon joins Joker in having a good laugh at the joke. As the police arrive, the Joker's laugh trails off, but Batman continues to laugh.

Writer Kees van Kooten is at home. His children are at school and his wife is in New York. She has an appointment to interview the American comedian/director and actor Woody Allen. The wife of Van Kooten, Barbara is a translator and has translated some of Woody Allen's scripts.

Although he lives in a house that is packed with books and records, Van Kooten cannot find his niche. He misses his wife and secretly afraid that Woody Allen with sleep with Barbara. He is also aware that Allen is known as a womanizer. Van Kooten communicates his fears to no one. His children are still young and know little about the American. As Van Kooten rents as video tape of the movie Take the Money and Run by Woody Allen, his children interpret the humor of the movie as 'annoying'. Van Kooten himself is a fan of Woody Allen's movies and once wrote an article about the American comic. On the one hand, he is proud that his wife is going to interview Woody Allen, on the other hand he views him as a threat. About midway through the novel, Frans, an old friend from school, comes for to visit and has a polaroid with him. In the photo Woody Allen is seen at the table with Barbara. Van Kooten is immediately jealous and he develops an entire story around the interview between his wife and Woody Allen. When Barbara returns dead tired from her trip and plops into bed, the writer cannot restrain his impatience and asks her if she slept with Allen. Barbara then gives him the answer: "Would you like that?".

As Van Kooten sits at home and nothing happens, his thoughts slide away to his youth in The Hague. He muses about the performances of Wim Kan and his ABC-cabaret where he went with his parents in the fifties and returns to thinking about the confrontation between Wim Kan and Rudi Carrell during The Beatles's Blokker performances in 1964. The arrival of his old friend Frans briefly interrupts his periods of inactivity. Frans is actually no true friend. Kees van Kooten still knows him from his time in high school. Frans went to Nijenrode and has revealed himself as a selfish man who only pursues pleasure. His stories are full of cocaine usage, volatile sex and brainless entertainment. He has contempt for his old father who is in the hospital and is surly to Van Kooten's children. Finally, Frans has been so shaken that he takes his dogs for a walk. He then meets Van Kooten's children. At last Frans meets Ms. 't H, his neighbor. Van Kooten is busy translating some of the Mazdaznan texts for Ms. 't H so that it can be ready to be published. The deceased husband of his neighbour was a follower of this movement. She then gives him some additional material. Barbara returns shortly thereafter and sees that Van Kooten's life can be normal again.

Set in a 450-year-old house named "Dongrakdang" in Bukchon Hanok Village, Yoon Seung-hye and the people around her must deal with the aftermath of her adoption and its dissolution.

A restaurant opens at midnight until seven in the morning. Its mysterious owner and chef, simply called the 'Master', has no fixed items on his menu, but will take orders from any customer and cook up whatever they ask for. As the Master cooks, his customers tell him their life stories.

Three women with totally different backgrounds who share a common bond: each needs a large sum of money and each has a husband serving time at a maximum security prison. Lizzie Martin (Lauren Bacall) has been instructed by her husband Ed (Robert Alda) to deliver a $1 million bribe in order to get him an instant parole; however, when she learns he has been having an affair with his secretary, Lizzie wants to disappear but fears for her life if she doesn't carry out his instructions.

Sophie Rosenman (Sandy Dennis) needs money to save the family's bankrupt delicatessen; Annie Cavagnaro (Lisa Pelikan) needs money because she's pregnant, and Lizzie could use the funds to escape from Ed, so the three women devise an elaborate scheme to deliver the bribe money and then steal it back. Mrs. Cavagnaro (Ruth Gordon), Annie's mother-in-law, joins the trio when they discover they need her because of her safe-cracking expertise.

Emily Tempest, the daughter of a white miner and his black wife, returns to her childhood home, Moonlight Downs in the Northern Territory, after completing her schooling at an Adelaide boarding school. Her homecoming is impacted by the murder of Lincoln, the local elder. The police are baffled but Tempest makes use of her unique background to track down the killer.

A novelist, Nicholas Lovatt, becomes disillusioned when his publisher urges him to turn out stereotyped novels.

Ravindran, a young rich man from Kozhikode, is living anonymously in Mukkam, a small village on the banks of Iruvanjippuzha. There he falls in love with a young village girl by the name Maalu. Ravi decides to leave after staying for two months and assures Maalu that he will return. Maalu does not inform him that she's pregnant. Few days later, Maalu receives a letter from him saying that he will be going for a Europe tour and will return after six months. Fearing the social stigma if she gives birth to a fatherless child, Maalu is forced to marry Ikkoran, who is compassionate and agrees to nurture the child as his own.

Years later, Ravi, who is living with grief over childlessness, returns to the village with his wife Padmini. He meets a young lad there whom he identifies as his own son (Raghavan). He pleads to Maalu and Ikkoran to take Raghavan along with him. Ikkoran waves him off saying he is a lunatic and that it is their child. Ravi returns heartbroken and falls ill. He sends a letter to Maalu saying that he wishes to see his son once more before he dies. She complies and takes the child to Ravi's house. Seeing Ravi's condition, Ikkoran decides to leave the child there. Later, Ravi gets a letter from his friend Mr. Burton saying that Ikkoran and Maalu drowned themselves in the river. The final chapter shows Ravi living happily with Raghavan in the estate he has newly purchased in Mukkam.

Protagonist Kyle Crane learns from a survivor near death about a supposed cure to the virus. With the Tower running short on Antizin and Camden's efforts to produce a cure still unsuccessful, Crane decides to go investigate this supposed immunity. He heads out to the countryside, where he discovers that many of the survivors out there have converted to a religious cult called the Children of the Sun, who worship the Mother which is apparently the source of their immunity to the virus. In order to earn the cult's trust and learn more about the immunity, Crane decides to assist the survivors. Eventually, one of the Faceless, the high-ranking members of the cult, approaches Crane and privately admits that their immunity is gained through a special elixir they had discovered, but like Antizin, it only suppresses the infection and does not fully cure it. The Faceless also reveal that they are working on a permanent cure, and promise that in exchange for his help, they will give Crane the cure to take back to Harran.

Crane is then tasked with assisting a man named Atilla, who is working on an important project for the Mother. Atilla tells Crane that the Children of the Sun believe in a prophecy where a chosen one would rise up to become the prophet of the God of the Sun and purify the infection. He also reveals that the Mother was Jasmine, the wife of a local military Colonel who was involved in the experiments that caused the outbreak, but was bitten during the outbreak. Before succumbing to the infection himself, the Colonel gave Atilla a secret code that Atilla passes on to Crane. Attila then commits suicide in an attempt to invoke the prophecy, but it fails to occur. Crane then discovers that the remnants of Rais' gang have also traveled to the countryside to search for the supposed cure as well. Rais' thugs stage an attack on the Mother's base in a nearby dam, but when Crane arrives, he finds both Rais' bandits and the Faceless all dead.

Entering the dam, Crane discovers that the Mother has been turned into a sentient volatile. She reveals that the dam was a secret military facility that held a special chemical substance. However, rather than being a cure for the virus, the elixir instead slowly turns whoever uses it into a sentient volatile, like it did to the Mother. During the day, she is able to retain her mental faculties and has been given telepathic abilities in order to communicate, but at night, she becomes an uncontrollable feral monster. The Mother tells Crane that the only way to stop the infection is to summon the God of the Sun to purify the land, sacrificing everybody in Harran in the process. At this point, Crane can choose to either listen to the Mother, or defy her.

If Crane chooses to defy the Mother, the Mother attacks, forces him to drink the elixir and attempts to kill him, but Crane eventually prevails and kills her. Taking what's left of the elixir, Crane leaves the dam, suffering continuous blackouts, and finds himself in a populated area seemingly outside the quarantine, but discovers that his exposure to the elixir has already turned him into a sentient volatile. As night falls, the infected Crane lets out a feral scream as a nearby mother and her children watch in terror.

If Crane chooses to listen to the Mother, she leads him to a nuclear warhead that was originally meant to be a fail-safe to contain the outbreak. Crane inputs the code Atilla had given him, which activates the warhead, presumably destroying all of Harran and killing all of the survivors and infected, taking the virus with them.

The play is set in the office of a prison parole review officer who is seen questioning and conducting an extended interview with a long-term prisoner incarcerated for a Weather Underground-type crime during which she killed two police officers. The outcome denies the long-term prisoner access to parole based on the harsh nature of the crime and the lack of remorse shown for her crimes.

The film focuses on Paul Dechellette, a French artist in the Latin Quarter of Paris. He celebrates the announcement of the Gautier Art Student Prize Competition, the theme of which is "A Message of Spring". He travels to Brittany to seek inspiration and finds it an peasant maid and orphan named Mignon. She decided to pose for his painting "The Call of Spring". Dechellette falls in love with Mignon and gives her an engagement ring, proclaiming that he will return "when the roses bloom again" and marry her. Paul returns and wins the competition with his painting, but he forgets about Mignon.

One day Cou-Cou, another artist and rival who lost the competition to Paul, is struck by an automobile and injured. In the confusion, a reporter takes the name of Paul and publishes the notice of the accident in the paper. In Brittany, Mignon reads of the accident and decides to head to Paris to find him. Because she is poor and unable to afford transportation, Mignon decides to walk to Paris. The journey is difficult and she arrives in Paris in a very weakened state and falls on the doorstep of the Blanc home. Monsieur Blanc, a baker who runs a shop near Paul's studio, and his wife try to discourage Mignon from seeking out the disreputable Paul. Mignon decides to go and arrives at the studio when Paul is hosting a dinner party, there she finds Paul sitting with not one, but two women. Mignon stands, transfixed, as the sight of Paul and the girls, Mimi and Fifi, before running from the room and fainting at the baker's shop. Paul, who saw her, rushes out to search for her, but cannot find her.

Mignon leaves the ring and a note for Paul in her wooden shoes, having resolved to commit suicide by throwing herself into the river. On the way she passes Francois Gautier, the famous painter and donator of the prize, and he stops her and listens to her story. Gautier offers to shelter Mignon and she becomes like a daughter to him. One day, Gautier's death comes suddenly and Mignon finds herself as his heiress. Mignon decides to dedicate her live to saving outcast women. Paul learns of her inheritance and goes to the Gautier mansion, asking to see her. Mignon refuses as first, but then sees him only to inform her that she does not love him. In despair, Paul wanders all night in a storm and is found nearly dead the next morning on a park bench. Cou-cou, sends for Mignon who comes to Paul's bedside. Mignon comes and forgives Paul, and they decide to marry.

Three varsity baseball players, who have been best friends since childhood, enter their final year of high school and must make difficult choices on and off the baseball field. They have to decide between what they want and what their parents want.

The story is based on the case of the Puccio family from Buenos Aires, that kidnapped four people—three of whom they murdered—in the 1980s.

The Puccios appear to be a typical middle-class family from the affluent district of San Isidro, with aspirations of moving up into upper class. The family comprises Arquímedes Puccio, the family patriarch; Epifanía Puccio, his wife; Alejandro, their eldest son and a star rugby player; Daniel "Maguila", their middle child, who'd left the country years ago and hadn't kept in touch; Silvia, their eldest daughter, a school teacher; Guillermo, their youngest son, who is still in high school; and Adriana, their youngest daughter, who is in middle school.

At the end of the Falklands War in 1982, Arquímedes, who had been working for the state's intelligence services in operations to capture communist guerrilla fighters, becomes the owner of a small shop, a deli. In order to maintain his financial status, he decides to turn to crime and start kidnapping people for ransom, targeting wealthy families. Alejandro starts to collaborate with his father, by identifying potential hostages, taking advantage of his popularity among friends and acquaintances to not raise suspicion.

The first victim is Ricardo Manoukian, a friend and teammate of Alejandro's. Though the kidnapping is successful, Arquímedes kills Ricardo anyway, to avoid any chances of being identified as the kidnapper. After discovering Ricardo has been killed, Alejandro has a bout of conscience, but his father convinces him to keep the secret by assuring him that if Ricardo had been left alive, he would have identified them as the culprits and gotten them all arrested.

The ransom improves the Puccios' economic situation and, by early 1983, they replace their family deli with a successful store selling sporting equipment. Alejandro meets a girl called Monica at the store, and, after a few dates, she becomes his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Gustavo Contenpomi, a friend of Arquímedes' who is furious after being deceived in a business deal with entrepreneur Florencio Aulet, contacts the Puccios and suggests they make Florencio their next victim. Instead, Arquímedes and his cronies kidnap Florencio's son, Eduardo; since he is one of Alejandro's friends, and thus he's easier to lure into a trap. The Aulets pay the ransom, but Eduardo has already been murdered, and his body buried in a shallow grave, on an empty construction lot.

In December 1983, after the return to democracy in Argentina, Arquímedes goes to visit imprisoned military officer Aníbal Gordon—who had participated with Puccio in the kidnapping of a businessman in 1973—and asks for advice on how to continue with the Clan's activities in the new political landscape. Gordon advises him to lie low, since the military will have more difficulty protecting him now that they've lost control of the country, but Arquímedes does not heed the warning.

Alejandro accompanies his youngest brother, Guillermo, to the airport, since Guillermo is going abroad on a sports trip. At the gate, Guillermo confesses that he knows what Alejandro and their father had been up to, and says he will not be returning after the tour is over, since he is afraid of what will happen if the family's crimes are discovered. Before leaving, Guillermo begs his brother to get out while he still can. Listening to his brother's plea, Alejandro decides not to join his father in the next kidnapping: that of another businessman acquainted with the family, Emilio Naum. Due to Alejandro's absence, the plot fails, and Naum is murdered after refusing to stop his car when Arquímedes and his goons begin the abduction. Angered, Arquímedes returns home and beats Alejandro, blaming him for the failed kidnapping and accusing him of being ungrateful for all that Arquímedes sacrificed to get him a cushy lifestyle.

To reconcile with his father, Alejandro travels abroad to convince his other brother, Maguila, to return to Argentina and join the Clan in their operations. Now, in 1985, the group kidnaps businesswoman Nélida Bollini Prado and keep her prisoner in their home's basement. However, things do not go according to plan: the ransom negotiations fail; Adriana hears the woman's screams coming from the basement and realizes what had been going on; and Arquímedes gets a call from his former military superiors warning him that his stunts have garnered too much public attention, so he no longer has their protection.

In August 1985, when Arquímedes and Maguila collect the ransom in a service station, they are arrested by the police, who then break into the Puccio house, free the kidnapped victim, and arrest the family, with the exception of Adriana. The case causes a frenzy among the media, who dub the family the "Puccio Clan".

The prosecuting attorney shows Arquímedes the overwhelming evidence against him and tries to broker a deal: if Arquímedes confesses to being the mastermind behind the kidnappings, his family will not be indicted as accomplices. Arquímedes, however, insists that he'd been compelled to carry out the crimes by his military superiors and refuses to sacrifice himself for his family.

While his rugby team and Monica believe in his innocence, Alejandro cannot withstand the pressure. After violently arguing with his father in their jail cell (during which Arquímedes goads Alejandro to punch him, so Arquímedes can falsely claim the guards beat him), Alejandro tries to commit suicide by throwing himself off the fifth floor of the Tribunal building while he is being taken to testify.

The film ends with a series of texts detailing the family's fate: Alejandro survived his fall and was sentenced to life in prison. While serving his sentence, he tried to commit suicide four more times. Monica kept visiting him for years, until he asked her to stop doing so and instead move on with her life. Alejandro died [of pneumonia, aged 49 ] in 2008, a few months after being released on probation. Maguila never served his sentence, since he fled the country - presumably to Australia, Brazil, or New Zealand - before he could be tried. In 2013, he returned to Argentina after the charges were dropped due to the statute of limitations. Guillermo was never indicted for his family's crimes. He never returned to the country nor contacted his family, and his whereabouts are unknown. Epifanía and Silvia were freed from prison for lack of evidence. [Silvia succumbed to cancer at 52 in 2011.] Adriana was also never indicted and, after the trial began, her surname was changed, and she moved in with her maternal uncles. After many years, she returned to live with her mother [in the very house where the kidnapping victims had been held]. Arquímedes was sentenced to life imprisonment but was eventually released on parole in 2008. During his imprisonment, he studied to become a lawyer, and started working as such after his release. His family never made contact with him after he regained his freedom. He died [from a stroke] in 2013, in La Pampa, and since his corpse was unclaimed, he was buried in an unmarked, communal grave.
