While having breakfast at the Mystery Shack with Mabel, Dipper comes across a monster photo contest with an award of a thousand dollars. Stan interrupts the pair to announce "family fun day", convincing the twins to hang out with him. However, Dipper and Mabel are dismayed when Stan reveals his intention for the family to go fishing. At the lake, Old Man McGucket appears and claims to have seen the "Gravity Falls Gobblewonker", a monster that lives on Scuttlebutt Island within the lake.
Although the town members, including McGucket's son, mistrust McGucket's claims and ridicule him, Dipper is encouraged to obtain a picture of the Gobblewonker so he and Mabel could win the contest and split the prize money. Mabel accepts, desiring to purchase a giant hamster ball. The twins leave Stan and journey towards Scuttlebutt Island, accompanied by Soos.
Dipper brings 17 cameras to ensure they obtain a picture of the Gobblewonker, but the number of cameras dwindles rapidly due to the team's carelessness. Arriving on Scuttlebutt Island, they approach a monstrous silhouette, only to discover a broken ship being chewed by a colony of beavers. However, the actual Gobblewonker then appears, and pursues the group. They manage escape to a cave, losing more of their cameras in the process. Dipper manages to capture pictures of the Gobblewonker, now stuck in the cave, with his last remaining camera. The "Gobblewonker" then malfunctions, revealing it to be a machine operated by McGucket. McGucket explains that he created the machine to attract attention, as he lacks time with his son. Meanwhile, Stan is irritated over the twins ditching him. He attempts unsuccessfully to meet new companions around the lake, but is rejected instead, leaving him frustrated.
The twins feel guilty about leaving Stan alone, and they rejoin him on his fishing trip. They use their last roll of film to record their fishing journey for the rest of the day.
After the birth of his son, a poor peasant went door to door to look for someone to be his godfather. But due to his poverty, he was continually rejected until one day, as he was on his way to another village to find someone, he met a man who accepted the offer. The man, overjoyed, forgot to ask him where he lived before he disappeared.
His son grew up to be bright and hardworking, and at the age of 10 he took it upon himself to discover where his godfather lived in order to give him his Easter blessings. On his way to another village, he came upon his godfather, who revealed to him that he lived in a house with a golden roof deep in a forest far from the village.
And so the godson went to find his godfather, and following his directions came upon a scene of a bear with cubs attempting to feed on a pot of honey. The pot was placed under a large tree, where a log was suspended on one of its branches (acting as a 'swing' almost). As the family approached, a cub bumped into the log. The sow pushed the log back to move it out of the way, only to have it swing back and bruise a cub. The sow pushed the log back with greater force in annoyance, only to have it swing down even harder, hitting a cub on the head and killing it. In anger, the sow pushed the log with great force, before proceeding to feed on the pot of honey. But this time the log was pushed upwards until the string holding it to the branch slackened, and it fell vertically downward on the sow's head, killing the oblivious animal instantly. Disturbed by the scene, the man went on and soon came upon his godfather's house - a palace with a luxurious garden and a golden roof.

According to an anniversary collection of Tolstoy's work published by Cambridge University Press, in this story, the hero, Emelyan (sometimes translated as "Yemilyan", "Emelyàn", or "Emelian"), rings the war drum, which is used to summon the soldiers of the tsar to the battlefield, and once the soldiers are assembled, he smashes the drum, releasing the power of the tsar over the people.
In a near future, Soraya and Walid build an idyllic life in the mountains, far from the disorder and pollution of Beirut, capital of Lebanon. There, they live with one of their parents and their two children — until installation of a supposedly ecological landfill disrupts their harmony.
According to book reviewers in 1903, the story is about the king Esarhaddon, who abuses his subjects and beheads the warriors of his enemies. Then a prophet visits him, and is able to force him to live through the entire life of one of the subjects that the king has oppressed. Certainly inspired by the biblical Esarhaddon, this story diverts from that one, in which Esarhaddon is contemplating how to kill Lailie, the rival king he has just captured, when the prophet interrupts him, and miraculously tells Esarhaddon what he was thinking. According to the Francis Gribble, literary critic writing for Fortnightly Review, this work was in the same theme as many others of Tolstoy, in which he believed that "all men are brothers because all men are manifestations of the divine."
A doomsday cult known as Humarise believes that Quirks will eventually become so powerful that they will bring about the extinction of humanity. Because of this, they have planted bombs all over the world filled with "Trigger" gas which kills Quirk users by driving their Quirks out of control and dying in the process. Their leader, Flect Turn, plans to use these bombs to save humanity by killing the Quirk population. After Humarise detonates its first Trigger Bomb, the World Heroes Association dispatches Pro Heroes and U.A. High Hero Course students to Humarise's targets in hopes of disarming the remaining bombs. Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki are among those sent to Humarise's supposed main headquarters in the country of Otheon. None of the Heroes find any trace of Humarise and they are put on standby.
During an outing, Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki encounter a jewel robbery in progress. Todoroki and Bakugo pursue the thieves while Midoriya gives chase to their courier, Rody Soul, a street urchin who took the job to provide for his younger siblings. Meanwhile, Allan Kay, a Humarise scientist, flees with an important briefcase but is attacked by a Humarise agent, Beros, and he crashes his car in the midst of Midoriya and Rody's chase. Rody accidentally grabs Kay's briefcase shortly before Midoriya catches him. They are soon attacked by the police, but Midoriya escapes with Rody using Blackwhip.
Midoriya is publicly accused of mass murder by Otheon's chief of police, who is a member of Humarise, and goes off the grid per Todoroki's advice. Midoriya and Rody make their way to the neighboring country of Klayd, where the Otheon police won't have jurisdiction. Midoriya sends a coded message about his new destination to Todoroki, who heads off with Bakugo to join him there. That night, Rody becomes homesick and secretly reports the briefcase to the police. The officers that arrive turn out to be Humarise agents, who attack him. Midoriya, having been woken up by Rody's bird companion, Pino, saves him, but is wounded by Beros during the fight. Rody apologizes to Midoriya while patching him up, explaining that his father abandoned the family to join Humarise, and that he and his siblings were ostracized as a result.
The two are attacked at the Klayd border by Beros, but are saved by Bakugo and Todoroki, while Beros commits suicide in order to evade capture. In the aftermath, Midoriya discovers a hidden compartment in the briefcase containing a puzzle which Rody played with as a kid. Rody solves it and finds a USB device and a data disk inside. The disk contains a message from Kay, who reveals that he and Eddy Soul, Rody's father, were forced by Humarise to create the Trigger bombs. The device contains a kill code for the bombs created by Kay and Eddy. Humarise announces that they will detonate their remaining bombs in two hours, forcing the deployed Heroes to work through the ensuing global panic to find them.
Midoriya and the others head to Humarise's headquarters with the device on a plane piloted by Rody. Bakugo and Todoroki deal with high-ranking Humarise goons, while Midoriya faces Flect Turn, whose Quirk reflects whatever comes into contact with him. Midoriya is overwhelmed by Flect Turn's natural defenses, as well as his laser barrage. Rody arrives and seemingly betrays Midoriya by handing over the device in exchange for his siblings' safety. However, thanks to Pino, who is actually Rody's sentient Quirk which expresses his true feelings and intentions, Midoriya realizes it's a feint and catches Flect Turn off guard. Realizing that Flect Turn's Quirk has a limit to how much damage it can take, Midoriya uses One for All Full Cowl at 100%, to defeat Flect Turn with a barrage of attacks. Meanwhile, Rody heads for the Trigger Bombs' control system, and despite being wounded by the laser defense system, he and Pino barely manage to insert the device in time, preventing the Trigger Bombs from activating.
In the aftermath, Humarise's surviving members are arrested, while the Heroes are healed at the hospital. As Midoriya heads back to Japan, he and Rody bid a tearful goodbye to each other. Class 1-A reunites back at U.A., while Rody gets a job as a bartender and pursues his dream of becoming a pilot.
The film begins when Mariano Concha, a public employee, arrives at the El Campín Stadium where his younger brother Saúl is queuing to buy tickets for the soccer game. Between the two they argue about who should buy the tickets.
The narration moves to days before, when in a first match between Colombia and Argentina, the streets of Bogota are empty because people are watching the match. Mariano watches the game on television with Saúl, his mother Rosa, his grandmother, Uncle Pedro (a supporter of Argentina nicknamed by his nephews "The dogs") and Rita, Pedro's wife. Uncle Pedro hates the Colombia team because unlike other teams they have not won major soccer championships and he is even more disappointed when he sees that the Colombians, especially his nephews, celebrate that the match ended in a tie by the national team Colombia. At the same time Luz Dary, Mariano's wife, arrives, who reluctantly leaves accompanied by Rita to buy brandy at Mariano's request. After the tie celebrated by the residents of the neighborhood, the press interviewed the parents and brother of Jorge Alfredo 'the Beast' Sanabria, neighbors of the protagonists. 'The Beast' Sanabria is a star soccer player for the Colombia team, and therefore, also a neighbor and acquaintance of the protagonists.
While in the rain Saúl stands in line to buy tickets, Mariano has sex with Luz Dary. Later it is revealed that Mariano is also a dreamer in which Luz Dary refutes him not to be aware of the eventual purchase of an apartment for the two of them living close together in the Concha family home. The next day, Mariano and Saúl argue with Uncle Pedro about who will win the rematch match. Mariano bets money, which he does not have, and Mariano, unconsciously and irresponsibly, bets the 6 million pesos saved to buy the apartment for his wife and proposes to his uncle to bet the house, which is actually the grandmother's, against. Saúl is against the bet, because they bet what does not belong to them. Pedro, knowing that Argentina will win, accepts the bet. But he makes a condition; if Argentina wins, Pedro will keep the money but Mariano and Saúl will have to leave the house. Mariano also accepts and offers the opposite, if Colombia wins, Mariano keeps the money, the house and Pedro would be the one who would leave the house. Both seal the bet as gentlemen before the astonished gaze of Saúl and the grandmother.
Mariano and Luz Dary are going to withdraw the money to the bank and decide to celebrate their wedding anniversary at night, although Luz Dary is unaware of her husband's intentions. It is later revealed that Mariano is an obscure bureaucrat who works in a government ministry, but is a rather inept employee with reprimands on his CV. Being sure that the Colombian team will win the match, Mariano also bets the 6 million pesos on his boss Ramírez, having his partner Emilio Gutiérrez as guarantor of the bet with the money temporarily in his account. Ramírez accepts the bet and demands that he stay the night updating some papers or he'll working on Sunday, when Concha had already bought tickets for the game. Mariano reluctantly stays and argues that he gave the money to Don Vicente Sanabria, father of 'The Beast', who would sell them the apartment.
Disappointed that her husband is staying the night working, Luz Dary celebrates her anniversary with Saúl by having a few drinks. Saúl, taking advantage of the drunkenness, seduces her sister-in-law, and they both go to a motel where they try to have sex but Luz Dary stops Saúl at the last moment. Mariano runs away without finishing work and gets home before his wife. Both argue about Mariano's decision not to be with her because he is working and Luz Dary's boredom at her house without being able to go out to have fun.
The next morning, Saúl argues to his brother that he had spoken good things to Luz Dary about her husband. Then they go to church where they ask the priest to make the Colombia team win the match. On Sunday morning, Mariano and Saúl prepare to go to the game but they are surprised that Uncle Pedro is not ready to go. They both go to his bedroom where they try to wake him up and to Mariano's surprise, his uncle Pedro is dead; he died while he slept. Saúl begins to feel guilty since both he and Mariano irritated his uncle who also suffered from heart disease. Pedro suffered with each game, which could hasten his death. Saúl remains undecided about going to the game, but Mariano decides to go no matter what. When Mariano finally convinces Saúl to go to the stadium, Luz Dary discovers that Pedro is dead and alerts Mariano, much to his immediate frustration. The corpse is taken to a small funeral home. Saúl, as a last tribute to his uncle, leaves the radio to his uncle's corpse, according to Saúl, so that his uncle could listen to the game in the Beyond. But still Mariano decides to go at any cost, but several more unfortunate circumstances prevent him from doing so; He must take his grandmother because there is no space in the other cars, when he arrives he tries with Saúl to escape in his car but it breaks down. Saul reveals to Luz Dary Mariano's intentions to go to the stadium to watch the game. Mariano calls his boss Ramírez who refuses to believe that his uncle died and that he is at the funeral home. Ramírez warns him that Argentina is close to scoring a goal and that he is about to win the bet. Mariano and Saul try to flee this time taking her grandmother arguing the old woman's need to go to the bathroom. But when they try to take a taxi to the stadium they fail and instead Uncle Augusto arrives for the funeral, forcing both men to stay. Don Vicente reveals to Luz Dary that Mariano never bought the apartment for him and tells Mariano that although the game is tied, Argentina is close to scoring a goal. Mariano confesses to Luz Dary that he bet the money on the football game, which unleashes the woman's anger. The match ends in a draw, so the victory must be decided by penalties. Mariano listens to the game by placing his ear on the coffin where the radio is. Colombia finally loses the match 3–4 against Argentina due to a penalty that 'The Beast' Sanabria did not get, which shocks Mariano as he lost the bet and was left in personal bankruptcy.
The angry fans and neighbors of the Sanabria take it out on the footballer's family, calling them all crooks. Later, in the rain, Mariano and Saúl also retaliate and Don Vicente recriminates both of them for his actions, including placing the radio in the coffin.
The next day Mariano discovers that his wife did not sleep at home. He goes to her workplace to beg her forgiveness but Luz Dary decides to separate from Mariano, disappointed in her actions.
At work, Mariano decides to leave in the midst of his sadness, and Ramírez forces Mariano to resign, for not updating the paperwork and not believing him about the death of his uncle. But Mariano decides to sue his boss for unfair dismissal and violation of his labor rights. Upon returning home, Mariano learns from Saúl that the car, despite being French, had a completely broken electrical system and that it was not possible to get spare parts. Upon arriving home, Rosa tells her children that they must leave the house as part of the bet with the late Uncle Pedro in addition to being a promise to a deceased. Decision confirmed by the grandmother in her little lucidity.
Both walk aimlessly and Saúl with his luggage leaves Mariano taking a bus. Saúl wanders through the streets of the city and to the surprise of Mariano, who was crying, Saúl gets him tickets for another soccer game that will be on Sunday. Both simblings hugs ending the film.

As the ninja is about to kill Holly, he is fought off by Takeshi in his Ken sleeve. Takeshi along with Holly speak with Tanaseda, who wants Takeshi to protect Holly and find out how and why his younger brother died. Holly escapes from Takeshi through a bathroom window, but runs into Gena of UN's CTAC. Takeshi intervenes, holding Gena at gun point before CTAC reinforcements arrive. The group is ambushed and attacked by ninjas who kill Gena's unit. After a short chase, Takeshi and Gena kill all the ninja and Holly reveals the ninjas were sent by Shinji, who was planning a coup in Mizumoto syndicate.
The three head to the Mizumoto syndicate's headquarters and oldest luxury hotel on Latimar, the Wild Geese. There they are met by Ogai, the AI butler of the hotel, who welcomes them. Shinji arrives showing relief that Holly is alive and as an apology for the disrespect his men showed when first arriving, he gives Holly's bodyguards Takeshi and Gena, their most expensive room in the hotel. In the Mizumoto tattoo room, where Holly continues to ink Shinji, Takeshi speaks with Genzo. Here Genzo explains who their founder was and that Tanaseda was his son. Genzo also explains the Mizumoto tradition, when the succession for a new boss occurs, the old one dies along with his stack. Meanwhile Gena reports to CTAC and is revealed to be Reileen Kawahara. Takeshi reports in with Tanaseda, but he cannot believe his father would give his life in a succession and instructs Takeshi to continue protecting Holly until the succession.
Takeshi finds Holly watching an old memory of her parents being murdered. Since their stacks were not destroyed, she needs the Mizumoto clans help finding them. In the meantime, Shinji speaks with his ninjas, annoyed they could not kill a child. While travelling to Genzo; Holly, Takeshi and Gena are accompanied by an additional group of yakuza for protection. They are attacked again by two ninja wearing bullet-proof armour, who kill all the yakuza and stab Gena, before Takeshi and Gena kill them. As other ninjas approach, they head to the hotel foyer and meet Ogai, who activates the hotels defense system, killing the remaining ninja. Holly reveals that the tattooist Margot had created a tattoo program that is passed on the next boss and on succession, kills the previous boss along with his stack.
Back in their room, Gena hears Takeshi singing and realizes that he is her brother, but did not reveal herself. Takeshi speaks with Tanaseda and after mentioning Genzo's laugh, Tanaseda discovers something and gives new orders to Takeshi, which he carries out confirming Tanaseda's suspicions. On the day of the succession, a firework exploding and a short blackout occurs, during which Holly goes missing. Shinji sees this as the perfect timing and orders the ninja to go and kill Holly and her bodyguards. Genzo arrives shortly after and tells Shinji the succession will happen early to avoid any problems. Holly then appears and drugs Shinji, knocking him out. In the meantime, Takeshi, Gena and the yakuza are surrounded by ninja; Takeshi promises to tell the yakuza the truth of what is happening after they defeat the ninja.
On the succession stage, Genzo's tattoo is activated and kills along with his stack. Tanaseda reveals himself in the digital crowd, revealing that Shinji and Genzo were both his father and founder of the syndicate, who has taken over the bodies of the new bosses for generations. It is revealed that Holly erased Shinji's stack and transferred Genzo's into Shinji's body, confirming that Genzo is indeed the founder. Following orders, Ogai removes the audience and the Founder continues the succession ceremony, but discovers Holly trying to activate the destruction program to kill him. Holly reveals she knows he has her parents stacks, as the Founder throws the two stacks to the ground and destroys them. The yakuza members arrive at the ceremony with Takeshi and Gena, knowing everything and how the Founder has deceived the clan. The yakuza follow the Founder behind the ceremony stage, but they are killed by the Founder in a power suit. Takeshi and Gena fight the Founder, but are no match for him. Tanaseda arrives and tells Ogai to review information he has sent to the hotel system, who after checking it, confirms that Shinji is not the rightful leader, thus launching an attack against the Founder using the fireworks and causing the ceremony stage to collapse. The Founder survives and continues his attack against Takeshi, but after Gena's intervention, Takeshi manages to stab the Founder and destroy his armour. In a fist fight, Takeshi gains the upper hand over the Founder, breaking his arms and legs. Holly then activates the tattoo program, which starts to destroy the Founder. He begs Tanaseda for help, but Tanaseda shoots the Founder's stack and then Shinji's head as his last act of kindness towards his father.
Gena (who had received orders to "get rid of Holly"), reports to CTAC she has completed her mission successfully and then takes her leave. Ogai reveals Holly is Margot and asks her if she wants to change to a younger sleeve as this one is getting taller, but Holly decides to remain in this one so that Takeshi and Gena can recognize her when she gets older if they meet again. Takeshi speaks with Tanaseda, who advises there are more jobs to complete.

Franks Stubbs (Spall) is a downtrodden ticket tout who tires of his job, and leaves his sleazy boss Dave Giddings (Reding) early on in the series, and establishes his own business as a promoter. He often has grandiose ideas to improve his business opportunities and ultimately become a promoter for a higher range of clientele, which often lead to disappointment, regret and frustration due to his poorly organised publicity campaigns. As journalist Thomas Sutcliffe described him in a contemporary review from the time "Frank Stubbs is one of life's losers but that doesn't stop him dreaming of getting off the pavements (where he used to tout tickets) and into a nice little office (from which he can run a virtually illusory promotions business)." As Stubbs tries to run his business singlehandedly, he has to try and cope with his put upon and shrewish sister Petra Dillon (Sharp) along with the rest of his family. Frank often deals with aspiring newcomers seeking fame and washed up luminaries looking to make a comeback, but his efforts often leads to organising crass, cheap and poor executed publicity stunts that often lead to misfortune and failure
Best friends Kevin O'Connor and Bobby Green are walking through the woods on their way home when they are kidnapped.
The two boys wake up inside the trunk of a car, and Kevin is taken inside while Bobby is left locked in the trunk. He is able to free himself and escape, but decides against running away after he hears Kevin screaming for help. He makes his way inside and discovers that Kevin has been chained up in the attic. The Creep arrives to the house and provides the kidnapper with a wad of cash. The kidnapper provides the creep with a watch that is counting down an hour. The Creep visits Kevin in the locked room, but is distracted when Bobby accidentally drops a paperweight. The creep eventually discovers Bobby and chases him, ending up in the kitchen, where Bobby accidentally kills him.
Bobby finds keys in the creep's coat pocket but none of them unlocks the door behind which Kevin is trapped. His plan to use the creep's car to get help doesn't work. While searching for another key, he discovers a trunk full of bloody boys' clothes and a rotary phone. He is able to call the police but the kidnapper returns and Bobby has to hang up before the police can track his location.
While the kidnapper checks on Kevin and showers, Bobby gets rid of the creep's body and cleans up the blood in the kitchen. He discovers a safe containing cash, another key, and nude photos of other boys. He tries the new key but it doesn't work. He then tries picking the lock with a knife, slicing his hand and leaving a smear of blood on the door. The kidnapper notices the blood and realizes that Bobby is in the house. Bobby hides and traps himself in the bathroom and the kidnapper chops their way through with an axe, but Bobby is able to slice their hand with a nail file.
The police arrive and the kidnapper, revealed to be a woman, answers the door. She claims to be alone but the officer asks for her ID. After the woman doesn't return, the officer goes inside and discovers Bobby. He is then struck in the chest with an axe and Bobby hides. The kidnapper takes the officer's gun. She discovers the creep's body, then follows Bobby down to the basement and explains that she expected him to suffocate in the trunk.
She offers to trade Kevin for Bobby to her buyer, at which point Bobby attacks her, handcuffing her to a pipe and stealing her keys. He is shot in the leg, but is able to slowly make it upstairs. Finally able to unlock the door, he frees Kevin (using the key he found in the safe with the pictures) and the boys make their way back downstairs, but Kevin is halted by a shock collar. Bobby runs back to the basement for pruning shears, but the kidnapper grabs his leg and sticks her finger in his bullet hole. Bobby frees himself by cutting her finger off, but he is too weak to make it back upstairs.
Kevin fights his way down to Bobby, suffering multiple shocks. He removes the collar using the pruning shears and attends to Bobby, who tells him to leave. Kevin refuses, and helps Bobby to the officer's car. He calls for help using the radio, finds a taser & first aid kit and treats Bobby's leg. The kidnapper frees herself from the basement, finds the boys, and drags Bobby outside the car. Before she can kill him, Kevin shocks her with the officer's taser. The boys retreat to the woods and the kidnapper gives chase. She corners them and is about to kill them when a police officer shoots her dead.
Kevin and Bobby receive medical treatment and are taken home. The pair are later shown on a beach in California, where they said they wanted to go.

Flynn refuses to send anyone to stop Schmidt, but Stark secretly gives Carter a costume and a shield made of vibranium, which she uses to attack a Hydra convoy and successfully retrieve both the Tesseract and Hydra scientist Arnim Zola. After this success, Flynn promotes Carter to a combat role and she becomes "Captain Carter".
Carter and Rogers rescue Rogers' friend Bucky Barnes when he is captured by Hydra forces, with Rogers piloting a weaponized and armored "Hydra Stomper" suit that Stark built with the Tesseract. Carter and Rogers go on to fight in numerous battles with Barnes and the Howling Commandos until Rogers goes missing, presumed dead, during an attack on a Hydra train.
Carter and her allies infiltrate Schmidt's castle after she obtains its location from Zola, and find Rogers alive. Schmidt, intending for Hydra to continue in Nazi Germany's place after its collapse, uses the Tesseract to open a portal and summon an interdimensional creature, which quickly kills him. Carter and Rogers battle the creature until the Hydra Stomper runs out of power. As Stark closes the portal, Carter sacrifices herself by entering it while pushing the creature back into it.
Almost 70 years later, the Tesseract opens another portal which Carter emerges from, meeting Nick Fury and Clint Barton.
Matrona Vitsin is a twenty-six-year-old woman who lives in a small village. Ever since her younger sister mysteriously vanished as a baby, Matrona has had to shoulder much of the responsibility in running the family dairy. Matrona's parents are overjoyed that Feodor, the local butcher, is willing to marry their daughter. Matrona, however, has feelings for Jaska, the village potter. She has never divulged this secret to anyone—not even her best friend, Roksana.
While out on an errand, Matrona ventures into the house of Slava, the local tradesman, who has a room full of Matryoshka dolls, each one painted to look just like a member of the village. When Slava discovers that Matrona has seen the dolls, he chooses her to be his successor as keeper of the dolls. She is tasked with opening the layers of her doll one by one. Upon opening the first doll, all of Matrona's secrets are divulged to the entire town, including her feelings for Jaska. The second doll offers an internal attack, conjuring up all of the negative thoughts Matrona's ever had about herself. Realizing she can't move forward with Slava's plan for her, she tries to escape the village, only to discover it's trapped in a loop. Confused and frustrated, Matrona turns to Jaska; she tells him about the dolls, and he believes her. Opening Matrona's third doll brings her visions of a city and snow, which she's never seen before. Jaska asks her to open his first doll, and she does so, exposing his secrets—including his feelings for Matrona. Slava finds out what she's done, and tells Matrona of the dangers of opening all of the dolls at once. Matrona then goes to find her friend Roksana, who has discovered the dolls and opened hers all at once, resulting in her losing her mind. Matrona mourns for her friend. She manages to open Jaska's second doll without Slava noticing; she goes to comfort him as he undergoes the same mental torment she did, and the two share a kiss.
Opening her fourth doll and noticing that a fifth does not lie inside reveals to Matrona the truth of her situation: she and the other villagers are trapped in their town via magic. They were all taken away from their homes in Russia at Czar Nicholas II's request and transformed into fifth dolls. After learning this grand secret, all of the villagers (except for Roksana and Jaska's mother, whose dolls are fully opened) transform into wooden dolls. She manages to get Jaska back by gradually opening the rest of his doll. They realize that Slava's house is what holds the spell intact, so they destroy it. The village they've known their entire lives melts away into the cold reality of Russia, and their families and friends are restored to them. Matrona is reunited with her long-lost sister, and she calls off her engagement with Feodor after all that's happened. The villagers are left to live life in reality.

Leaving South Wales, Huw travels to Liverpool where he boards the ship ''Geraint'' and travels to the Welsh-speaking colony of Patagonia.
Settling in the City of Lewis, Huw sets up a workshop, funded by his landlady, Widow Gwyn, and has success making furniture and fittings for houses. Huw meets the Corwen family, a widowed man with three daughters, the eldest of whom, Lal, Huw falls in love with. She is hesitant to marry him and her violent father, Vrann, has plans to marry her off to other farmers to get their land. As time passes, Huw encounters similar prejudices as those found at home from the religious elders of the city, known as 'The Twelve'.
Despite being in love with Lal, he begins a sexual relationship with Gwyn. Lal becomes distant with him and Gwyn expects marriage. When Huw refuses to marry her, Gwyn throws him out of her house.
Setting up a workshop elsewhere, Huw is reconciled with Lal and they talk of marriage, though Lal wants her share of the family farm agreeing first. Huw finds himself clashing with The Twelve and his progress in buying land for a farm impeded. After threatening a farmer who Huw thought was trying to con him over the sale of his farm, Huw is summoned to appear before The Twelve. They find Huw innocent of the charges put against him but the votes were not unanimous.
The town is ravaged by a storm and flooding. Nelya Penninah tries to entice Huw by coming to his house needing help, but it turns out to be a trap and Matti Mumpo (her father, and one of the Twelve) bursts into the house. Mumpo wants to have Huw thrown out of the valley.
Later, Huw's horse has its tongue cut out and a witness claims it was Nelya Penninah accompanied by a mysterious figure. The same night Huw meets up with Gruffyd, who says that not only is Angharad coming over to Patagonia, but she is bringing Bronwyn, too.
Huw spends several days up at the Corwen farm, trying to reinforce the dam with scores of other locals to stop it flooding the town. During this time, Gwyn's sister arrives to say Gwyn thinks she is pregnant with his child. Huw meets Gwyn but refuses to marry her.
On his way back, Huw meets with a stranger who offers him money to marry Doli Corwen. Seeking out Lal's father, Huw's request to marry Lal is rejected. The next day, Huw is summoned to the Corwen farm but is attacked and knocked unconscious on his arrival. He wakes to find himself, tied up and a prisoner of Vrann Corwen, along with his three daughters who have been whipped by Vrann.
Vrann tries to kill Huw, but is stopped by Ithel and Michaye. The girls are released and tell their father they want nothing to do with him. The dam bursts shortly afterwards, flooding parts of they valley and city below.
Lal's sister, Doli, and her friend Kankel are arrested for cutting the tongue of the horse belonging to Mari Ann Gwythir and are imprisoned, despite protesting their innocence. Huw, along with Lal and some others go to the prison to break out Doli and Kankel but when they get there they interrupt a meeting of The Twelve. Huw, Lal and the others are remanded to stay in prison until the following day whilst investigations take place, but afterwards, are allowed to sneak out on the condition they are back for the morning.
Huw meets with Matti Mumpo, who tells Huw he wants to marry Lal. When Huw catches up with Lal she says she will marry Matti in the morning and then move to Buenos Aires as her father has gambled away the farm and Lal wants them to have something to own.
Later, Huw hears a commotion and sees Nelya Peninnah being brought in, restrained and on the back of a horse. Matti Mumpo rushes out to meet her but is killed by the crowd. Huw announces he will move to the Andes. He sets off the next day with Lal and some other families for the City of Mill.

''Sazanami Cherry'' is an ''otokonoko'' romance manga following Kazuhiro Migiwa, who falls in love with Ren Takano on first sight. When confessing his love, he learns that Ren is a cross-dressing man, rather than a woman as he had first believed. Kazuhiro is surprised but does not let Ren's gender affect his attraction to him. They become a couple and begin dating, and Ren enjoys being treated like a woman and being seen as cute. One day while on a date they are confronted by Ren's older sister Kai, who disapproves of how he cross-dresses and pretends to be a woman, and tells him he will have to stop eventually.
Ren tells Kazuhiro about how he took an interest in cross-dressing after playing dress-up with Kai as a child, but that their father was upset at Kai over it, after which Kai has tried to stop Ren from wearing girls' clothes. Ren asks Kazuhiro if he could still love him if he stopped being feminine, and he does not know how to answer. When they see each other on the train the next day, Ren is wearing men's clothes and breaks up with Kazuhiro. Kai seeks out Kazuhiro, telling him about how Ren left her a message apologizing for cross-dressing. She reveals that she was herself assigned male at birth, but that her father did not accept that she preferred femininity until she was an adult; knowing the hardship of presenting femininely, she tried to dissuade Ren from it.
Kazuhiro explains to her how Ren feels, and they meet up with him to talk. Kai repeats what she told Kazuhiro and says that she was jealous of Ren for his femininity and for having a boyfriend. Ren is surprised, having only ever known her as a woman due to their age gap. They reconcile, and Ren takes up dressing like a woman again. Two years later, he is still cross-dressing and in a relationship with Kazuhiro. In an epilogue, Ren and Kai are shown having grown closer again.

Although Gloria and her cousins want to adopt her into the Pairama clan, Mrs Parker, the guardian appointed by her father, objects to it. As a result, Mata is separated from her Māori relatives and grows up into an extremely repressed young woman who is ashamed of her Māori background, brown skin and curly hair. Following a failed marriage to a young Māori man named Sony, Mata falls into depression and becomes homeless in the streets of Wellington.
Meanwhile, Makerata flees an arranged marriage to study law in Wellington. Missy takes the role of the guardian of the Parama clan's land, which is locked in a dispute with property developers. After getting divorced overseas, a novelist Chang-seok returns to Korea and readies to publish a novel based on his own life experience. He then meets the aimless Mi-young at a cafe located inside a bustling subway station in Euljiro who recollects her meeting with him and their past together. Chang-seok also meets his editor, Yoo-jin, who shares a leftover cigarette with him and thinks about her past. Next, he accidentally runs into a photographer Sung-ha who's taking care of his ailing wife. Last, Chang-seok shares a conversation with bartender Joo-eun, who tries to remember her memories from her patrons lost after a car accident.
Upon meeting each others, they explore slightly different themes, but each is connected with a shared feeling of loss and insecurity as each character struggles to remain sane in a society that evokes feelings of existential dread. This marks Chang-seok and changes his feelings and mind, also making him choose to begin writing yet another new story.
The novel is set in 1995, when Aiden Navarro, a 14-year-old Filipino American teenager, goes through the last week of a Boy Scouts summer camp, before having to return home. Having just finished Catholic middle school, where he was constantly bullied for being overweight, biracial, and queer, Navarro is excited for his trip to the summer camp, where he has always felt appreciated by his friends as a good scout. Aiden considers the Boys Scout camp to be a safe space, where things are peaceful and predictable. He also enjoys going to the summer camp since it means being far from his abusive father.
Things are different this year, as the other boys he is spending time with are going through puberty, and spend their time trying to prove to each other who is more manly, which includes the use of homophobic slurs. Although Aiden attempts to be like these boys, his inability to fit in leaves him especially frustrated and upset.
While there, Aiden also writes to his pen pal, a girl named Violet, with whom he is very close and feels comfortable sharing more intimate subjects. In his letters, Aiden talks about the things he was taught in Catholic school, how homosexuality is morally wrong, and his romantic feelings for another camper, Elias.
Throughout the week, Navarro attempts to suppress his feelings towards Eiden and himself, which leads to self-loathing and suicide ideation. Although Aiden manages to fight off the negative thoughts and emotions inside him in the end, he leaves the scout camp with the understanding life for him wouldn't be easy.
In June 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) announces that she is quitting the precinct and her career after the George Floyd protests. Hitchcock has retired and moved to Brazil, but still keeps in contact with everyone via skype. Jake's (Andy Samberg) reaction accidentally starts a chain of events in the precinct that culminates with a blackout.
In Spring 2021, the squad celebrates at the bar as Amy (Melissa Fumero) returns to work after being on parental leave. To their surprise, Rosa shows up, now working as a private investigator. In order to prove to her that he is one of the "good cops", Jake assists Rosa in a case that involves police brutality. However, the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association boss Frank O'Sullivan (John C. McGinley) prevents them from acquiring crucial evidence in the case. They then infiltrate his office to download evidence from his computer and present it to Captain Lamazar (Rebecca Wisocky) from another precinct. However, Lamazar deletes the evidence as she fears the repercussions of its content. Despite losing Rosa's client, Rosa and Jake rekindle their friendship.
Meanwhile, Amy fears Holt (Andre Braugher) views her as a stranger after a small talk and asks for Terry's (Terry Crews) help by using one of his (Scully's) books. She participates in activities with Holt to rekindle their friendship but Holt storms out after a few activities. He later confesses to Amy that the reason for the small talk is because he had problems at home: Kevin and he are separating. Terry also has to deal with Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio), who has been showing excessive support for the African-American community in the past months. Terry talks with Boyle, telling him to just "do the right thing" because he really wants to do it.
Intending to help Holt (Andre Braugher) on his separation, Terry (Terry Crews) suggests that the squad go with him on a weekend getaway at Holt's lake house to make him feel better. Amy (Melissa Fumero) brings Mac to the trip while Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) starts using edibles to get herself through the trip.
At the lake house, the squad is whelmed at the fact that there is no lake in the area (it had been built by Kirsopp Lake ) and that the house mostly consists of sitting rooms due to a technology ban. To complicate things, Jake (Andy Samberg) invited Kevin (Marc Evan Jackson) to the house in an attempt to rekindle his relationship with Holt. The squad refuses to help although Terry secretly aids Jake. They plan a romantic meeting for them by having them meet while they are birdwatching. However, the plan goes awry when bees swarm the meeting and Kevin suffers an allergic reaction. Holt and Kevin realize Jake's plan. Holt relates Jake's scheme to the German book ''Das doppelte Lottchen.'' Nevertheless, they bond when Holt finds a corncrake and describes it to Kevin. Despite the moment, Kevin leaves the house. Jake then proves to Holt that Kevin still loves him through the birdwatch moment and they agree to go to couples therapy.
Meanwhile, Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) asks Amy to help with putting Mac to sleep and she reluctantly accepts. She is frustrated to see that Boyle has no problem in taking care of the baby. However, Boyle accidentally locks Mac in his room after putting Mac down for his nap. Despite his attempts to hide it from Amy, she eventually finds out and crashes through the door to retrieve Mac. After a talk with Jake, she thanks Boyle for helping her but also scolds him for trapping Mac. Rosa bonds with Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) while eating chips under the influence of the edibles and agrees to go with him to Buffalo, New York to tour chip factories, much to her horror after sobering up.
Jade and Ed are a married couple who, to their friends and family, seem to have it all. Jade works at a marketing firm, while Ed works as a heart surgeon. However, in private, Ed is emotionally and physically abusive towards Jade. Ed tears up a dress that Jade bought to wear to accept an award at her job, and hits, chokes, and throws her across their bedroom while accusing her of cheating on him with her coworker, Liam. Ed demands that Jade quit her job if she cannot work from home, but Jade instead packs her belongings the following day and sneaks out of the house with Kayla to move in with Leigh.
Ed assaults Jade after seeing divorce papers in her car. After Jade leaves work one day, a man in a trench coat walks up to her and aims a pistol at her, but walks away after almost being noticed by Liam. At Leigh's house, Jade reveals to Leigh that Ed has been abusing her and that she thinks Ed is trying to have her killed, but that she cannot report it to the police because Ed would paint her as crazy and would have Shawn to protect him. When Leigh and Kayla leave the house to go the park the next day, a hitman arrives to kill Jade. Ed, having ordered the hit on Jade, arrives at Leigh's house, only to find Jade missing and the kitchen trashed and covered in bloodstains. Meanwhile, Jade rents a room at a motel. A flashback shows that, before the hitman arrived, Jade cut open her own hands and flung herself around the kitchen to make it look like there was a struggle, and that the hitman showed up after Jade had already left.
Jade takes several measures to psychologically torment Ed, including sending him their wedding video from an unknown number, making an anniversary dinner reservation at Ed's favorite restaurant (where she leaves a bouquet of white flowers), replacing the slides in a slideshow he made for work with pictures of a skull superimposed over Jade's face, and sneaking into his house to leave her torn up dress on his bed and fill his closet with her clothes. Jade follows the hitman back to his apartment, where she sneaks in and learns that he is a parolee named Donald. Donald is confronted by Ed at his apartment over Jade still being alive before he notices Jade hiding outside. He runs after her only to be stopped by his parole officers.
Ed develops a drinking problem and starts to show signs of slipping, like choking his new girlfriend, Diane, after confusing her for Jade, forgetting to pick Kayla up from her babysitter, and being too shaky to perform surgery, which causes him to get fired from his job. Meanwhile, Leigh receives a letter from Jade, letting her know that she is still alive and safe. Jade continues to torment Ed by faking photos of her own dead body and sending them to the police, playing "their song" over Ed's Bluetooth speaker, and filling Ed's kitchen with white flowers.
After a candlelight vigil for Jade, where Ed almost catches Jade in the crowd during Leigh's speech, Leigh drives to Jade's motel room, but is unknowingly followed by Ed. He walks into the room to confront Jade and attempts to choke her out, but is stopped by Shawn, who holds him at gunpoint. Ed is arrested and Jade returns home to Leigh and Kayla.
Sometime in the Heian period, the well renowned fortune teller Kamo no Yasunori is told by an oracle that he should adopt a girl who was born at a certain time. His two disciples, Abe no Yasuna and Absiya Doman, separately set out to find this girl. Yasunori finds identical twin girls born at the right time, daughters of the lord of Izumi and returns with the older one, Sakaki.
Ten years later strange omens appear. Upon consulting his oracle book, ''The Golden Crow'', Yasunori reveals that the country is about to be thrown into turmoil with the crown prince, who lacks an heir, being cursed, but also something else he can tell only to his successor. Doman arrives late for this oracle reading saying he went first to the royal court to urge them to consult with his master. In front of the few people at the oracle reading Yasunori says this was disrespectful, that the Court would have called on him in proper order, and that he has changed his mind about naming Doman his successor. Yasunori starts towards the Court to tell of this oracle but he is killed on the road by a retainer in a plan arranged by his wife which is blamed on bandits.
Sakaki is enamoured of Yasuna and realises that in the absence of a formal document the Court will appoint Doman as successor, who is the more gracious speaker, is a Court insider, and is the choice of Yasunori's widow, so she intrigues against this by appearing at Court herself as heir of her adopted father. The Court declares that lots shall be cast to determine which of the two disciples will become successor and interpret ''The Golden Crow''. However, when Sakaki opens the locked box which should contain the scroll the box is empty. Suspicion is cast all around and Doman has Yasuna locked up and he tortures Sakaki. In private, Yasunori's widow reveals that she copied Sakaki's key and stole the scroll so that Doman could be successor, and initiates an affair with him. Escaping, finding Sakaki dead, and overhearing the deceit, Yasuna goes mad and attacks the couple. Yasunori's widow dies in a fire and Yasuna escapes with the scroll.
Wandering madly in both his and Sakaki's clothes, Yasuna eventually ends up in Izumi where he sees Kuzunoha, Sakaki's identical twin sister, daughter of Lord Shoji. He is taken in by the lord's family who overlook his belief that Kuzunoha is Sakaki. Yasuna does not believe himself mad and wonders why Shoji has not yet permitted them to wed.
At court, Doman reveals that he saw a little more of the scroll: the Crown Prince's curse can be lifted by him siring an heir by copulating in a room adorned with the blood of a white vixen. One of the ministers reveals he knows of such a white vixen and a hunting party is sent to Izumi. The hunt takes places in a forest where Yasuna is walking with Kuzunoha and comes across an injured old woman. The hunting party finds them and ask if they have seen the white fox they have shot but Yasuna calls them idiots who can't tell the difference between a fox and a human as he has just pulled one of their arrows from an elderly lady.
Kuzunoha and Yasuna escort the lady to her hut where they are met by her husband. Inside the hut the old lady, her husband and their granddaughter, Kon, out of sight of the two humans who have departed, are revealed to be kitsune. Kon is ordered to look after Yasuna in gratitude for saving the lady's life. Yasuna and Kuzunoha are espied by Doman; the hunting party waylay the pair and Doman takes the scroll but Kon sees this. Travelling first as balls of flame, Kon's clan arrives, fight off the hunting party and make off with the scroll from Doman. Kon is ordered to shapechange and assume Kuzunoha's form while she tends to Yasuna's injuries (which she initially does by licking his wounds) after being warned not to do anything which might permanently isolate herself from her own kind.
Having fallen in love with him at first sight, Kon keeps Kuzunoha's form. With Yasuna still believing her to Sakaki they live in a small hut in a field and have a child together with Kon dreading the day she must return the scroll to him as on that day they must part. After some wandering men see Kon, Lord Shoji arrives with his wife and Kuzunoha who is lovesick for Yasuna. Shoji, Shoji's wife and Yasuna become confused at seeing two identical women (Kuzunoha and Kon shapechanged to Kuzunoha). Kon admits to being inhuman and says she will leave their child with Yasuna. She departs in the form of a white vixen and their hut disappears leaving Yasuna wondering if it was just a dream.
Upon picking up their child, he finds the ''Golden Crow'' scroll but the scene instantly changes to reprise that when Yasuna was alone and wandering madly after Sakaki's murder. He lies upon the ground in foetal position wearing Sakaki's kimono. The scene changes to a black rock, roughly the size of a human adult lying in foetal position, with a flame like the kitsune appeared as floating around it. A narrator admonishes the audience that love is empty, never fall in love.

A writer tracks down the graves of Shunkin Mozuya and Sasuke Nukui, and learns that an elderly woman visits them once or twice every year. He locates the woman, Teru, a former chambermaid of the Mozuyas, in a retirement home. Teru is reluctant at first, but after the writer hands her a book Sasuke had written on Shunkin's life and promises to pay her, she eventually tells him the story of Shunkin and Sasuke in a series of flashback sequences.
Shunkin is the daughter of the wealthy Mozuya family living in Doshomachi, Osaka. At the early age of 9, she loses her eyesight, and dedicates her life to study playing the shamisen and the koto. Sasuke, an apprentice to the Mozuyas, admires Shunkin and even starts learning to play the shamisen secretly. Shunkin not only obtains that Sasuke becomes her personal apprentice (a position held before by Teru), but also the permission to teach him the shamisen when he is off duty. Sasuke, who, among other tasks, washes and feeds Shunkin and even cleans her when she goes to the toilet, is sometimes treated cruelly by her, but he remains loyal and submissive. When Shunkin becomes pregnant, both she and Sasuke deny that he is the father. The family, fearing for their reputation, order Teru to give the newborn away.
Although notorious for her arrogance and her temper, Shunkin gathers more and more shamisen students around her. One night, an intruder (possibly a rejected admirer) pours boiling water on the sleeping Shunkin, scarring her right cheek. Shunkin insists that she doesn't want Sasuke to see her scarred face, so Sasuke blinds himself with a needle to convince Shunkin to keep him as her apprentice. Shunkin has two more babies, who are also given away to foster families, as she and Sasuke want their total devotion to each other undisturbed by children.
Back in the present, the writer asks Teru, who learned playing the shamisen from Sasuke, to perform one of Shunkin's compositions. After he agrees to pay her more money, she plays one of Shunkin's songs for him, surrounded by the home's residents.

In 1988, the Ravagers are hired by Ego, a Celestial, to retrieve his son Peter Quill from Earth. Ravager leader Yondu Udonta assigns this task to his underlings Kraglin Obfonteri and Taserface, who mistakenly abduct a young T'Challa from Wakanda.
20 years later, T'Challa is a famous galactic pirate and hero known as Star-Lord. He has reformed the Ravagers, who are now inspired by the Earth hero Robin Hood, and has persuaded Thanos to abandon his plan of eliminating half of all life in the universe and become a member of the Ravagers. He also believes that Yondu attempted to return him to Wakanda as a child, but it had been destroyed. While obtaining an orb containing the Power Stone from the planet Morag, T'Challa recruits Korath the Pursuer to join the Ravagers.
The Ravagers are approached by Nebula, who proposes a heist to steal one of Taneleer Tivan / The Collector's artifacts: the Embers of Genesis, cosmic dust capable of terraforming ecosystems and eradicating galactic hunger. At Tivan's headquarters on Knowhere, the Ravagers distract his Black Order henchmen while Nebula and Yondu offer him the orb, which allows T'Challa to infiltrate Tivan's vast collection of artifacts. He finds a Wakandan spacecraft that was sent in search of him and realizes that Yondu lied about Wakanda. The Ravagers are all captured when Nebula seemingly betrays them to Tivan.
T'Challa decries Tivan's practice of imprisoning others in his collection, which inspires Tivan's assistant, Carina, to shoot Ebony Maw and free T'Challa. Nebula shoots Corvus Glaive and rescues the rest of the Ravagers, revealing that she and T'Challa planned a triple cross which enabled her to acquire the Embers. Born in 1863 to a well-off family in East Ferry, Arnold spends his early childhood in a large house with his parents, his older brother Richard, and his older sister Charlotte. When Arnold is seven, the Waterlow family moves to a smaller house in Ilford due to money troubles. They live next door to the Godden family. Mr. Godden is a tea merchant, and Mrs. Waterlow forbids her family from talking to Goddens because of their inferior social status.
When Arnold is 12, he goes away to school at Cheltenham College, where Richard is already a student. At Cheltenham, he becomes friends with Albert and Wilfrid Godden. Arnold does well in school, excelling in Greek and Latin. Like Arnold, May Sinclair also attended Cheltenham College.
Arnold's father, an alcoholic, dies when Arnold is 14. Upon his death, the Waterlow family discovers that Mr. Waterlow lost most of the family's money through imprudent investing in gold mines and speculation. Because the family must live on a much-reduced income, Arnold is forced to leave Cheltenham and go to work as an office boy for a cheesemonger in London. Mr. Godden encourages Arnold to pursue an education through reading, telling Arnold how he hates his own business. Mr. Godden lends Arnold books on philosophy, and they have frequent discussions about metaphysics. Despite Arnold's lack of interest in business, he does well as an office boy and is promoted to a clerk.
When Arnold is twenty, he meets fourteen-year-old Rosalind (“Linda”) Verney at Winifred’ Godden's birthday party. Rosalind, the cousin of the Godden children, studies violin in Leipzig, Germany. Arnold almost immediately falls in love with Rosalind. Rosalind plays her violin at Winifred's birthday party, but is unable to complete the Kreutzer Sonata and breaks down in tears. Rosalind returns to Germany to continue her violin training; Arnold leaves his clerk job at the cheesemonger's, and begins to work as a clerk for Mr. Godden.
Rosalind returns to England in 1888, five years after she and Arnold first met. Rosalind gives a successful recital in Steinway Hall in London, and continues to study violin in Leipzig, hesitant to perform again until she is a better violinist. When she is twenty-one, Rosalind moves to London and lives with a friend, Mary Unwind. Arnold spends a lot of time with Rosalind, yet is hesitant to declare his feelings for her because he is too poor to marry. Rosalind meets Max Schoonhoven, a poor pianist living in the attic of her building. Max and Rosalind begin practicing together. Rosalind financially supports Max, to Arnold's disapproval. Arnold proposes to Rosalind, but she turns him down. Rosalind and Max become lovers and go to Paris. They give a series of successful performances and go on an American tour.
Max marries Molly Dexter, a wealthy American woman who has enough money to support his musical career. Rosalind returns to England. Arnold proposes again. Rosalind accepts Arnold, but tells him she won't be able to resist running away with Max if he shows up again. After marrying, Rosalind and Arnold move to Hampstead and have a son, who soon dies from meningitis. Rosalind sinks into a deep depression and refuses to play music.
Max writes to Rosalind, asking her to come see him perform in London. Rosalind and Arnold attend his performance, despite Arnold's misgivings. Soon after the performance, Rosalind leaves Arnold to live in Paris near Max and his wife. Arnold tells Rosalind that he forgives her and will take her back if Max leaves her in the future.
Richard tells Arnold that he has lost all of their mother's income through speculation. Arnold doesn't tell his mother about Richard's speculation, instead meeting her income through his own salary and letting her that he, instead of Richard, made bad investments. Richard moves to Australia. Mrs. Waterlow moves into Arnold's house in Hampstead.
Rosalind writes to Arnold, asking him to visit her poor friend Effie Warren. Arnold visits Effie. They eventually fall in love and begin an affair, despite the firm disapproval of Arnold's mother. Effie moves into Arnold's Hampstead house when his mother goes to live with Charlotte.
Arnold gets pneumonia and almost dies. Effie and Mrs. Waterlow care for him. Effie tells Mrs. Waterlow that Arnold provides all of her income out of his own salary. Arnold's mother is apologetic for the way she treated Arnold and how she didn't love him like she loved Richard.
Arnold and Effie continue living happily together. Rosalind gets neuritis in her arm, leaving her unable to perform. As a result, Max leaves Rosalind. Rosalind comes back to London and asks Arnold to visit her. Arnold and Effie agree that Arnold must go back to Rosalind. In their last few days together, Effie becomes sick and dies. Arnold spends a year grieving, then reconciles with Rosalind.

In a post-apocalyptic 2172, Nigeria is in the midst of a decades-long civil war between the national government and Biafran separatists, sparked by ethnic tensions and conflict over the powerful mineral Chukwu. Many people have undergone cyberization after sustaining war injuries related to war or radiation, in a process known as "augmentation".The story alternates between the perspectives of Ify and Onyii, inhabitants of a camp for War Girls, a group of orphaned teenagers who were once child soldiers in the Biafran military.
Ify uses her Accent, a device she invented which enables her to hack into cyberized organisms, to access a Nigerian network, unintentionally revealing the War Girls' location to the Nigerian military. Nigerian mechs attack the camp, and the War Girls meet them in battle. A squad of soldiers led by the Nigerian commander Daren capture Ify. Many of the War Girls are killed in the fighting, but Onyii is spared by Daurama, Daren's sister, and manages to escape with comrades Chinelo, Kesandu, and Obioma. Daurama and Daren take Ify with them back to the Nigerian capital of Abuja.
During the flight to Abuja, Daren and Daurama reveal to Ify that she had been kidnapped by the Biafrans, and they try convince Ify to study in Nigeria by taking advantage of her "hunger" to learn. However, their conversation is interrupted when an explosion rocks the aircraft, sending it into a tailspin. Meanwhile, the War Girls are taken in by the Biafran military, and Onyii decides to fight for them in order to avenge Ify, whom she presumes dead.
Four years later, Ify is a student in Abuja, while Onyii fights for the Biafran military as a mech pilot alongside Chinelo, Kesandu, and Obioma. The War Girls are given abds, robotic children programmed to protect them.
The Biafran military, seeking to force a ceasefire with Nigeria, sets out to expose the illegal military partnership between Nigeria and the Commonwealth Space Colonies. They send the War Girls and their abds to infiltrate a Nigerian oil derrick where the shipments of mechs from the Colonies are being stored. Daurama is killed during fighting in the derrick, and the girls take workers from the Colonies hostage.
Daren and Ify learn of the attack on the oil derrick during a security conference, and Daren rushes out to fight the Biafran infiltrators. Ify chases after Daren, but falls unconscious after connecting to him through a surveillance helmet. The War Girls use this connection to broadcast images of the Colonies' mechs. Daren arrives to engage the Biafrans in battle, and several War Girls and abds die in the fighting. The remaining Biafrans escape after killing the hostages.
Ify is arrested for treason and subjected to interrogation and torture. Daren turns Ify against Onyii by using her accent to reveal that Onyii had killed her parents, and she sets out to the Biafran border to enact vengeance. The remaining War Girls are ordered to kill their abds, but Onyii allows her abd Agu to go free. A ceasefire is called.
Nine months later, Onyii and Chinelo are in the process of adjusting to peacetime life in the Biafran capital of Enugu, and begin to fall in love. Ify continues to hunt down Onyii, and meets up with Dr. Xifeng, who has come to Nigeria from China on a humanitarian mission to document the war. Ify also meets Agu on the road to Enugu.
Ify confronts Onyii in her apartment, intent on killing her, but Onyii is able to escape through a window after Agu sacrifices himself to break her fall. Meanwhile, the Nigerians launch an assault on Enugu, breaking the ceasefire, and Chinelo is gravely wounded in the attack. Onyii uses a mech to fly to the border, where she confronts the Nigerians. There, Onyii encounters Daren, who reveals that he had implanted Ify with a tracking device, and had been using her all along to locate Onyii. Onyii kills Daren, and uses his mech to find Ify, who had returned to the ruins of their old camp.
After a tense exchange between Ify and Onyii, Ify is arrested by the Biafran authorities, and sentenced to death. However, Onyii and her old mentor Adaeze rescue Ify from execution, and take her to Adaeze's cottage. Their hideout is discovered by Biafran soldiers, and Ify and Onyii are forced to flee through the Redlands, a nuclear wasteland. The girls take refuge with Xifeng, who helps Onyii smuggle Ify onto a Gabonese spaceship to the Colonies. Onyii stays behind on Earth, knowing that she will soon succumb to cancer from her exposure to radiation in the Redlands.

''Pier Kids'' explores the lives of Black, homeless queer and trans youth who call the Christopher Street Pier in NYC their home. It was filmed over five years, taking place mainly in 2011, 2012, and three years later in 2016. The youth are interviewed over these years to show how time and experience changes. The movie shines a light on how queer people of color utilize spaces to create a chosen family, as well as highlights the police presence in a community that relies on sex work for their main form of income.
Danni Sanders is an aspiring writer who works as a photo editor for ''Depravity'', an online magazine in New York City. Struggling with both her job and making friends, Danni lies about attending an upcoming retreat in Paris to impress her co-worker Colin, a social media influencer. Danni spends the next week posting edited pictures of herself in Paris from her Brooklyn apartment. She gains a modest following on Instagram as a result, which includes Colin. A few days later, Danni posts a doctored photo of herself by the Arc de Triomphe only minutes before several major Parisian landmarks, including the Arc, are bombed by terrorists. To uphold her lie, Danni claims she witnesses the bombing and fakes returning from Paris, joining up with her parents at the airport.
With her parents, co-workers, and online following believing she is a survivor of the terrorist attacks, Danni immediately garners widespread attention and sympathy, leading Danni to lean into the lie. After attending a trauma support group, she meets and befriends teenage anti-gun activist Rowan Aldren, a school shooting survivor who also has a large social media following. Inspired by Rowan, Danni writes an article about her "experience" of being in a terrorist attack. This article, which includes the hashtag #IAmNotOkay, goes viral with Rowan's help and propels Danni to fame. Danni grows closer to Rowan, becoming a confidant and sisterly figure to her. Danni is invited to a party with Colin, where they have a brief sexual encounter which is unpleasant for Danni, making her realize the life of fame she wanted is not as desirable as simply being a good person.
Danni is invited to speak at a rally with Rowan. When counter-protestors set off fireworks, Rowan suffers a PTSD attack and is hospitalized. Danni, who has been having recurring hallucinations of the Paris bomber, feels increasingly guilty about deceiving Rowan. Meanwhile, Harper, a skeptical co-worker of Danni's, uncovers her deception and gives Danni an ultimatum: either Danni comes clean on her own terms, or Harper will announce the fraud to the world. Danni decides to publish a short apology detailing the truth and promising to change. This derails her life quickly; she becomes an online pariah, is fired from her job, rejected by Rowan, moves in with her parents after her address gets leaked online, receives death threats and harassment in real life, and deactivates all of her social media accounts.
A month later, Danni is attending a support group for individuals who are victims of online shaming, where she is encouraged to make amends with those she hurt. Danni attends a spoken word event where Rowan speaks about how Danni exploited her, which impresses Danni and earns cheers from the crowd. Upon realizing that amends would be for her own benefit rather than for Rowan's, Danni quietly exits the theater.
The story happened on a fictional island called "Chironup" (fox in Ainu language) in the Northern Japan. Two foxes were born around the time the fox-cherry blossoms (a made-up flower from the original book) bloomed in spring. Ken, the father, and Chin, the mother, lived in peace, naming the boy Kang and the girl Koro. Every year, at this time of year, an elderly fisherman couple comes to pick kelp. In front of the Jizo, they met Koro, who had fallen apart from their parents, and then they loved them like their own children. One day, the old couple accidentally met Koro's parents outside. Despite them loving Koro very much, they still decided to let Koro return to his family.
In the fall, the war became fierce every day, and soldiers came to the island. The soldiers want fox fur, and Kang and Ken are shot with guns. Koro also falls into a trap set by the soldiers and is unable to move. Chin carried food to such a roller with all his might. Eventually it was winter and it began to snow. Chin has difficulty walking and cannot carry food. Snow falls on the hugging chin and roller. Time has passed, the war is over, and spring has come. The old couple, who returned to Chironup Island, found the fox-cherry blossoms blooming together like two parent-child foxes. There was a bell collar that fisherman's wife put on Koro's neck by her side. The old woman picked up the collar and hugged it for a long time, and blessed the fox family who died.
The documentary narrates the period of the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez, from the 1948 coup d'état against President Rómulo Gallegos and the human rights violations committed by the Seguridad Nacional secret police (including censorship, arrests, torture and extrajudicial killings) to the public works and lavish carnivals promoted by the oil boom.
“Heavens, do you not regret anything you’ve done?” asks the Duchess. It’s a spring afternoon in England, and perched in a corner of Royal Lodge, the sprawling cottage orné built in 1662 that was once inhabited by King George IV.
Margaret’s hair is frequently featured, it’s variously a “rebellious red mop”, a “sodden mass of rebellious curls”, a “scarlet flag, wild curls whipping around her face”, and “burnished autumn leaves”.
Drawing on many parallels from the authors life for the historical tale, Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott was pictured in a Victorian-style floor-length outfit, complete with high-necked blouse, jacket and gloves, sitting on a stone bench gazing at a compass she held out in front of her, the Lady – although her family, the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, were close friends with the Queen and the Prince, the Duke’s ex-wife and the Queen’s former in-law – struggled to come to terms with the rigorous disciplines of royal life after marrying, and that their second daughter, Margaret, was a redhead with a birthday “within a few days” of her own.
The real details of Margaret’s own life are scant; described in gossip rags as a “Titian-haired breath of fresh Scotch air”, was “15 years in the making”. Beginning when she discovered romance, her heroine’s ‘rebellious’ red hair is much more of a feature, that depicts her as a woman who is initially the toast of London in the Duchess’ historical novel, than sex. The Fleet Street papers initially loved her raunchy edge but eventually decided it was more vulgar than charming. “It was always that I was portrayed as the sinner,” she says.
When one act of rebellion costs Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott her place in society, her life is swept onto a new course. One that will test her courage and resilience
She speaks with a sense of detachment about the reckless of yore, whose last major publicity push, just over a decade ago, came after the admittedly profligate royal was caught promising a reporter disguised as a sheik access to the Prince in exchange for £500 told her, “I think you probably are the woman in the world who has had more bad front pages than any other,” which is saying something, she still has to have her hair done to talk to you, but she’s now not so vocal.

The Lady, who has previously written her roman à clef memoirs, holding passion for historical strong women. While initially submitting to the strictures of high society and the tribulations of the marriage market, she endures a pasting from the press before emerging triumphant, throwing off the weight of expectations to become her true self. Proud to bring her personal brand to the world, sweeps the reader from the drawing rooms of Victoria’s court and the grand country houses of Scotland and Ireland, where she was cast out from the royals amid her scandal, and fell deeply into debt to the slums of London, and then the mercantile bustle of 1870s New York.
Margaret embarks on a journey of self-discovery where she will meet like-minded, and equally spirited, companions who shape her world.
She once confessed: “I was hopeless from the start… they could never make me the perfect princess”, it follows the Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott, “who desires to break the mould, follow her internal compass – her heart – and discover her raison d’être – falling in love along the way”. She is a spirited, Titian-haired, freckled beauty, whose curls just won’t quit. But as she navigates the challenges of forging her own path in life, will she find the greatest courage of all, to follow her heart against all odds…?
That “I have thrown my voice into each line and I’m very proud”, while it was said that “right from the start it was clear she wasn’t going to be sitting in the back seat on this… She had a clear vision for what the story was that she wanted to tell, and she wanted to be involved in every stage of the process.”
The novel veers around somewhat in tone, from archaic – Margaret’s priest informs her that “you cannot have imagined I would have kissed you in such a manner unless my intentions were honourable” and one admirer opines: “She was very naive but, by heavens, she had real spirit, too, no one could doubt that.”
The lack of sex, is “in deference to historical sexual mores”, a reason that doesn’t usually stop promising this will change in her second novel. “I decided I would remove bodice-ripping from this book, number one. But I’m now on book number two with Marguerite … and I have got a real bodice-ripping coming for you, just a walk in the park,” however, the duchess – spirited, Titian-haired, unconventional – is just “teasing”.
Well-researched, and a glimpse into the strictures of life as a pampered, rich, upper-class woman. It wears its research lightly, with intriguing forays into topics such as Victorian bathing dresses, and the Queen’s predilection to “pour her tea from one cup to another until it was adequately cooled”. Margaret realising that she doesn’t need to “conform to the rules set down by society”, that a Buccleuch woman doesn’t need a strategic marriage, and that her despairing cry, “no one seems to care that underneath I’m an actual person”, isn’t altogether true.
She’s notably svelte, smartly turned out, her red hair freshly styled — perhaps a reaction to the decades of scrutiny she has experienced as a British tabloid fixture.

According to the literary critic Ernest Joseph Simmons, ''"Elias"'' is a story that combines feelings universal to all men with plots and trappings of a supernatural or otherworldly character. Elsewhere, Simmons said that this was one of the wrote as an illustrative text alongside pictures. According to lyricist Robert Hunter, the moral of this story is that one should serve one's master with honesty and humility, no matter how oppressive one's master is.

One evening, a wealthy family — politician Gwyn, his wife Glenda, and their two adult sons, Guto and Gweirydd — hosts a dinner party at Glenda's inherited estate in the Welsh mountains. Their guests are to be Mair, a neighbouring farmer who grew up with Glenda, and Euros, a businessman who has been drilling for oil on the family's land.
To help cater the party, Glenda has hired a girl named Cadi from the nearby village. Her preoccupation with the upcoming event prevents her from noticing or questioning Cadi's unusual demeanor: She arrives on foot at their remote estate, her hair is wet, and she rarely speaks.
Cadi observes the family as she helps Glenda prepare. One son, Guto, is being closely monitored by his parents after a recent drug overdose. The other, Gweirydd, has left his job at the area's hospital to prepare for a triathlon. His obsessive diet and exercise regimen includes eating raw meat.
Elements of the family's lifestyle appear to deeply confuse and upset Cadi. She panics when she hears gunshots from Gwyn hunting on the property, becomes even more upset when he brings in a pair of dead rabbits to prepare for supper and gets sick when she later sees the butchered rabbits cooked into the first course.
Cadi's emotional distress also has physical consequences: A muddy stain appears on a clean tablecloth when she hears the gunshots, and a bottle of wine explodes in Euros's hand when he arrives and accuses her of slacking off on the job. When she is alone, she tastes the wine off the ground, then picks up a piece of broken glass and inserts it into her vagina. This act does not appear to hurt.
When Guto asks Cadi if she has any drugs to help him get through the party without fighting with his family, she takes him into the forest and helps him pick psychoactive mushrooms growing near a large tree. He eats some of them before coming to dinner.
Mair arrives, signalling the start of the party. She explains that her husband, Iori, was supposed to come with her but was delayed by an emergency: An unknown person drove into a nearby pond, and he is helping to retrieve their remains
The atmosphere at the party is awkward. Mair, whose family is notably less well-off than Glenda's, is polite but put off by the way Glenda has changed since their childhood together. Gweirydd casts doubt on his father's story about a recent health scare, embarrassing him in front of their guests.
Guto, who has come to dinner high after eating Cadi's mushrooms, expresses disgust at Gweirydd's raw-meat diet and his parents order him to leave the table. He goes back to his room and mixes the remaining mushrooms into a watery substance that he injects between his toes.
Cadi, no longer needed, walks back into the forest and lays down in the grass, smiling as vines and flowers come alive and encircle her body. It is now clear that her connection with nature is a magical one and that she has specifically targeted Glenda's corrupt, materialistic family for punishment.
Inside, the party's true purpose is revealed. Gwyn, Glenda and Euros all hope to convince Mair to allow exploratory drilling and mining on her land. The most promising spot is "the Rise," the reputed resting place of a goddess in local folklore. Children are warned to avoid it; even adults, including Mair, refuse to disturb it for fear of waking her.
Mair is horrified by the suggestion of mining the Rise and turns them down. Glenda accuses her of believing in superstition.
Meanwhile, Guto's entire leg has become necrotic and infested with maggots after his injection of Cadi's mushrooms. She leads Gweirydd to the Rise, where Guto lies helplessly on the ground, and pressures him into killing his brother with an axe.
In his last moments, Guto shares the real reason Gweirydd no longer works at the hospital: He raped a number of comatose female patients.
Cadi has sex with Gweirydd immediately after Guto's death, and he is killed by the sharp piece of glass still hidden in her vagina.
Back at the house, Mair receives a call from her husband and learns the car found in the pond was Cadi's. She and Glenda realize the woman who has been in Glenda's house all day is not the real Cadi — it is the goddess of the Rise possessing Cadi's drowned corpse. Mair flees, leaving Glenda to her fate.
The goddess returns to the house and kills Gwyn by inserting a skewer into his ear.
Soon after, in an apparent trance, Glenda butchers Guto's body and serves it to the similarly entranced Euros, who is eating leftovers from the feast like a dog. Before he can finish, Glenda puts the barrel of a shotgun in his mouth and asks him: "After you've taken everything, what will be left?"
He does not answer. Glenda pulls the trigger and then slits her own throat.
The goddess burns all the bodies and returns home to the Rise.
Hal, a married man with a dysfunctional family who is a collector of retro video games, receives a copy of an interactive fiction computer game called CURS>R. Hal installs the game and starts to play, expecting it to be nothing more than a classic 1980s text-based adventure game. However, when the objects around him begin to interact with the game, he realises it is something more, and his family is harmed as a result.
Three months later, college student Kayla is working as a cleaner to pay for her studies. She provides new and old technology to her computer-geek friend, Isaac, who in return helps her learn to code so that she can gain sufficient skills for her classes. Kayla's mother, Thea, has become a drug addict after the death of her son Ricky, and also suffers psychological and sexual abuse from her rent collector, Lance, who supplies her with drugs and forces her into prostitution in exchange for not being evicted from her apartment.
One day while visiting Isaac after work, Kayla discovers the CURS>R game in his apartment, along with a phone number offering a $125,000 prize. She calls the number and receives a recorded message from the Terror Director telling her to complete the game and insert the number code at the end of it to win the money. Attracted by the offer, Kayla accepts the challenge, thinking it will be easy money, and arranges a deal with Isaac to share the prize. That night, Kayla starts playing the game in a café and discovers that it can interfere with reality in different ways—the game level ending with a waitress eating broken glass and dying. The next day, Kayla tries to stop the game by destroying the tape. She tells Isaac what happened, but he finds her story hard to believe.
Later, while Kayla is working a graveyard shift, her mother calls her desperate for help. Kayla discovers that CURS>R has managed to escape to the net and is following her, forcing her to choose ways to save her mother from a swarm of rats. Thea eventually falls from her bedroom window and, severely injured, ends up in hospital. Later that night, Kayla goes to Isaac's apartment and together they try to discover the mystery behind the game. They find a sort of code in the sound of CURS>R, in an unknown language, and theorise it is what allows the game to interact with the real world. Together they manage to survive the night after the game exploits Kayla's trauma over the death of her brother, who drowned in a public pool. Isaac and Kayla hack the prize number to a storage facility where the game was created. In recording sessions of the making of CURS>R, they discover that the creator of the game, Beck, found a curse in different symbols and embedded the codes into the game to gain more benefits by using the suffering of gamers. When they discover the code needed, the game traps Isaac and forces Kayla to choose in order to save him, but ends up killing him.
The game orders Kayla to "beat the boss" and gives her a set of coordinates to follow that lead her to Hal's house, now a cruel man who tortures his wife Laura and son Gabe. Hal explains that he never ended the game and after two levels it promised to leave them alone if he made more copies of it. ''Crossroads'' follows Russ and Marion Hildebrandt, whose marriage is close to collapse, and their four children, Clem, Becky, Perry, and Judson. Each chapter is told from the perspective of one of the Hildebrandts, and most are set in the fictional New Prospect Township of suburban Chicago.
The first section, "Advent," takes place in the winter of 1971. Russ, an associate minister at First Reformed Church, flirts with a young widow, Frances Cottrell, and stews over his rivalry with the charismatic Rick Ambrose. Russ has been forced out of Crossroads, the popular youth group he founded at the Church, in favor of Rick's more popular – and less liturgical – style of leadership.
Both Perry and Becky have recently joined Crossroads. Precocious Perry has resolved to stop dealing pot and become a better person. Becky, a popular cheerleader, mistrusts Perry, though she is close with her elder brother, Clem. She has also clashed with her parents over a $13,000 inheritance from her Aunt Shirley. Initially she attends Crossroads at the urging of Tanner Evans – "a bell-bottomed dreamboat" and aspiring musician on whom she has a crush – but ultimately has a religious awakening of her own.
Clem, on the other hand, has had a sexual awakening, with his college girlfriend Sharon, but he decides to end the relationship, drop out of school, and forfeit his draft deferral in order to fight in the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, Marion is surreptitiously attending therapy sessions, at which she recounts traumatic episodes from her past, including an affair with a married man named Bradley Grant and a subsequent psychiatric breakdown. These episodes took place in Los Angeles shortly before she met Russ, and Marion has hidden them from her family, despite her concern for Perry's mental stability.
The second section, "Easter," begins in the spring of 1972. Crossroads takes its annual service trip to Arizona, where Russ has connections with the Navajo community dating back to his alternative service in Arizona as a conscientious objector during World War II. Russ attends the trip as a chaperon, as does Frances, with whom he has recently smoked pot for the first time. Following a confrontation with a young Navajo man, who objects to the Church group's presence on the territory, Russ and Frances sleep together. Marion is on vacation in California, ostensibly taking Judson to Disneyland and visiting an uncle, but in fact meeting with Bradley. Perry has developed a cocaine addiction and, also with Crossroads in Arizona but neglected by Russ, he ends up in hospital.
That summer, Becky and Tanner take a trip around Europe, and Becky becomes pregnant. Back in New Prospect, living with Tanner and their daughter, Gracie, Becky becomes estranged from her parents. Russ and Marion have grown closer, thoroughly absorbed in caring for Perry, who has spent time in psychiatric treatment and undergone electroshock therapy.
Becky has also fallen out with Clem, who – sent away by the draft board – is now in Peru, doing manual labor. The book ends in the spring of 1974, when Clem returns to New Prospect to reunite with Becky.

That night, Sophie is awoken by three men breaking into the house. She calls 911 and reports the break-in, but the 911 operator tells her it will be a long response time due to the house's remote location. She hangs up and uses her See For Me app to contact Kelly again, but is caught by the men, who disconnect the video call. Kelly, desperate to help Sophie, contacts the police to have them cross reference 911 calls in an attempt to locate the house that Sophie is in. Sophie learns that the men have broken into the house to steal $7 million hidden in a safe in the wall. After checking Sophie's phone and seeing that she called 911, the men contemplate giving up the score and killing her. They call their boss, Rico, who tells them to let Sophie live as she has not seen anyone. Rico also instructs them to pack up their gear and come back later. Sophie convinces them to give her a share of the take in exchange for sending the police away. Sophie calls 911 a second time to cancel her initial report, but is told that the police have to respond even after a false alarm is reported.
When the deputy arrives to investigate, Sophie lies and says there was no emergency. As the deputy is about to leave, Kelly's alert is radioed out and Sophie's lie is revealed. The deputy calls for backup and attempts to arrest the intruders but is killed by one of the men. Sophie escapes with the deputy's gun and calls Kelly for help. Kelly helps her shoot two of the men, while the third man finishes breaking into the safe. Kelly guides Sophie to the final robber, who opens the safe to take the money. Before Sophie can shoot him, her phone dies and her call with Kelly ends. Although the thief tells Sophie that he is about to leave, she shoots him when he reaches for the dead police officer’s taser. She waits for the police to arrive, but is surprised by the appearance of Rico. Rico reveals that he is Debra's ex-husband and he hired all three of the robbers to break into the safe to steal his money back from his wife. He tells her that Debra did not know the safe or the money was in the house, and tries to convince her to let him take the money. Sophie refuses and cuts off the lights in the house, baiting Rico to pursue her. After running out of ammunition in her gun, she is caught by Rico and almost dies as he strangles her but gains the upper hand and bludgeons him to death.
After recovering in the hospital, Sophie tells her mom that she has decided to try out for the Paralympics and plans to ski again. Her mom tells her that they will need money to buy all new gear, and Sophie clutches her backpack and smiles, implying that she took some of the money with her from the house. Crash and Eddie have grown restless, needing plenty of wide-open space to practice their extreme stunts and are eager for a bit of independence. Ellie has been overprotective of them since their mother died of old age when they were teenagers, and often lets them get off scot-free with their mischievous antics, annoying Manny, Sid and Diego, who insist that she has to let them face consequences at times. One day, they accidentally cause an avalanche and destroy the Herd's summer habitat. The trio scolds the two brothers for their irresponsibility, declaring they would not survive on their own, which Ellie agrees with, upsetting them. Wanting to prove them wrong, Crash and Eddie sneak off to find a place of their own while Ellie and the trio are asleep. Finding them gone the next day, Ellie insists that they go look for them.
Crash and Eddie stumble upon the entrance to the Lost World, a land full of dinosaurs, and run into their own friend, Buck, who saves them from raptors and tells them that a ''Protoceratops'' named Orson, who was bullied when he was young for having a massive brain, has escaped from exile and has come to conquer the Lost World. Buck tries to take Crash and Eddie back to home, sharing Manny, Sid, Diego and Ellie's belief that they cannot take care of themselves, but finds out that Orson has covered the entrance with a boulder.
Buck and the possums go to Buck's shelter, where Buck reveals that there used to be more mammals living in the Lost World before the Herd went there to save Sid, and that he used to be part of a group that established the watering hole as a place for all the animals to peacefully co-exist. However, Orson refused Buck's offer to join his team, believing in a world where the strong dominate the weak, banished all the mammals from the Lost World, and set up a trip to get rid of Buck, killing most of his team, with only Buck himself and a female zorilla named Zee left as survivors. Despite that great cost, Buck and Zee managed to defeat Orson, banishing him to an island before going separate ways afterwards, unaware that Orson had the company of two raptors, which he learned to control using fire and eventually freed himself from exile. Since then, there have been no more mammals in the Lost World until the Herd went there to save Sid, and after the events of Geotopia, mammals came back to live there. However, the loss of his own team caused Buck to believe he is better off living alone.
The two raptors find Buck's hideout, but Zee, having tracked down Orson, saves Buck and the possums by using a gas to knock out the raptors. Buck and Zee are overjoyed to see each other again after years, but still occasionally argue over the loss of their team. Orson then gets a whole of army of raptors and attacks the watering hole, with Buck and Zee telling the animals to evacuate. Buck and Zee go with the possums to get help. They arrive at the Lost Lagoon and summon their old friend Momma, a ''Tyrannosaurus''. When Orson and his raptors arrive and attack them again, Buck and Zee forgive each other, realizing that their constant arguing is what caused their team's fall, and agree to work together. Acting as a diversion, Buck is captured by Orson, allowing the others to escape.
Trying to figure out how Orson controls the raptors, Zee and the possums devise a plan to get Buck back while Zee also trains Crash and Eddie to become braver. Manny, Sid, Diego and Ellie figure out that Crash and Eddie entered the Lost World and uncover the entrance. They run into Momma, who tells them Crash and Eddie are in danger and gives them a ride to the watering hole, where Orson plans to feed Buck to his raptors in front of all the animals as an example of what will happen with whoever won't follow his rules. Zee and the possums free Buck and fight Orson and his army, with Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Momma joining the fight. Buck tries to explain to Orson that everyone needs to live in peace, but Orson arrogantly rebuffs him and continues to fight. After figuring out that Orson controls the raptors with fire, Crash and Eddie create a fire of their own and stop the raptors from fighting and make the two raptors chase Orson instead, saving the Lost World.
Manny, Sid, Diego and Ellie apologize to Crash and Eddie for doubting them and for the latter's overprotectiveness and ask them to come home, but Crash and Eddie express that they want to stay in the Lost World with Buck and Zee. Noticing that they have matured, Ellie allows them to stay and says goodbye before leaving with Manny, Sid and Diego while Buck, having realized that everybody is stronger together than apart, happily welcomes Zee, Crash and Eddie to live with him in his hideout as his new real family, but they often go to the surface to regularly visit the Herd.

Patrolmen's Benevolent Association head Frank O'Sullivan (John C. McGinley) engineers a walkout of uniformed officers by claiming illness in response to an alleged anti-cop incident involving a mouse found in a burrito. Willing to investigate further and force the officers to return to work, Holt (Andre Braugher) orders the squad to investigate the incident.
Noticing that the officers report suffering infectious mononucleosis, Jake (Andy Samberg) decides to use Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) to go to the doctor and get the diagnosis to prove the other officials are faking the reports. But Boyle's visit to the doctor soon turns concerning when the doctor notices a worrying sign on Boyle's testicles, which could be testicular cancer. Waiting for the test results causes Boyle to worry in the precinct. During a stakeout, he confesses to Jake that he fears dying as he won't see Nikolaj grow and miss more adventures with Jake, moving Jake to tears. Meanwhile, Holt and Amy (Melissa Fumero) asks other precincts for help in their under-staffed precinct. However, the precincts send their own "Hitchcocks and Scullys". In order to motivate them, Amy gives them pedometers, promising one week of overtime to whoever has the most steps.
Terry (Terry Crews) struggles to work due to a stomach bug and goes home. Holt asks Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) for help and she provides information revealing that the officer planted the mouse in the burrito in exchange for a photo of Holt's tattoo. Holt shows it to O'Sullivan but he twists the situation into another to avoid calling off the Blue Flu. Terry manages to infiltrate the union and records the officers confessing to the deception. However, his stomach bug overshadows the recording and they lose evidence. To worsen the situation, Amy finds that the "Hitchcocks and Scullys" use massage chairs to increase their pedometers.
After getting the test results, Jake and Boyle celebrate as his condition is not lethal. They turn the report to O'Sullivan, proving that the other officers aren't sick. O'Sullivan accepts faking it but says the officers are still sick because they were exposed by Terry's visit. A defeated Holt goes to the bar where Boyle gives him a talk about his fears. Holt then gets an idea. He confronts O'Sullivan at his office, proving that with fewer officers, the 99th precinct hit fewer complaints and bad records while managing to keep the crime rate unchanged. O'Sullivan is forced to end the Blue Flu or have the officers fired for missing work. As Holt addresses the precinct, Jake uses the opportunity to show Holt's tattoo (having paid $2,000 to Rosa for the photo) but the precinct is disappointed when it's just a decimal point. It is revealed that the photo is fake and the episode ends before Rosa says what the tattoo is.
Jake (Andy Samberg) investigates a murder committed by Johnny Franzia, a serial killer he has been trying to pursue for 10 years and is deemed his "white whale". However, Holt (Andre Braugher) removes him from the case, citing that he and Amy (Melissa Fumero) may want more time taking care of Mac. Both convince Holt to retain their hours, saying they can take care of Mac and still properly work.
Their plans quickly go awry when there is a lice outbreak at Mac's daycare and without babysitters available, they are forced to have Mac at home and at work. Jake and Amy also contract lice. Jake's home remedy of covering their hair in maple syrup to suffocate the lice causes Amy's hair to become unmanageable. When they have a lead on Franzia, they leave Mac in Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller)'s care, but Scully injures himself, forcing the couple to take care of Mac themselves. Amy has an important meeting at 1 Police Plaza to pitch the new police reform idea and is stressed when is she must present it earlier than planned, while looking sloppy. This coincides with Jake finally discovering Franzia's identity. Jake agrees to let Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) go after Franzia and Amy successfully pitches her reform to the police. While Boyle explains what happened, Jake is happy to see his son stand up for the first time. He and Amy later talk and despite both losing an important moment of their lives, they agree that working together is a better choice.
Meanwhile, after failing to progress in couples' therapy with Kevin (Marc Evan Jackson), Holt moves in with Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz). However, Rosa is annoyed when Holt only talks about Kevin and she takes him out to drink. Holt stops talking about Kevin but they find that while drunk, Holt sent an obscene picture to Kevin. They infiltrate Kevin's house to delete the message but Cheddar's barking exposes them as Kevin arrives early, but they manage to escape with an excuse that Kevin buys. Later, Rosa says that Kevin looked sad from his reaction and indicates he misses Holt. Holt decides to talk with him by sending him the picture again and Kevin responds back with a scatter plot (his way of flirting), indicating that their relationship is stabilizing.

After arriving home to find her husband completely crazy, young literary editor Helga Pato is forced to put him into a psychiatric clinic in the north of the country. On the return train journey, a stranger, to help pass the time, suddenly asks her: “Would you like me to tell you about my life?” He is Ángel Sanagustín, a psychiatrist who is investigating the story of the worst clinical case he has ever come across, that of Martín Urales de Úbeda, a paranoid. From account of Martín sister's Amelia, Ángel develops the story of Martín (rejected and been thrown a croquette by his father), who served as a fighter pilot destined in Kosovo, where he began a relationship with Dr. Linares, a cooperator working in a local hospital for kids, and who uneasily became a female escort involved via one of her clients (Cristóbal de la Hoz) in a heinous plot pertaining child sexual abuse, child pornography, and organ trade. It is only then revealed that Martín is not a fighter pilot and he was not in Kosovo, but he is a former garbage man working in Murcia who lost his arm during a bad working night, and later became utterly paranoid about fellow garbage collectors' true intentions. Furthermore, upon the story of Ángel's visit to Urales de Úbeda's family house near Las Ventas, Amelia is revealed to be Martín, who had otherwise gathered years of undisposed garbage in the basement.
After finishing Martín's story, Ángel gets off the train stop to buy provisions and invite Helga, leaving behind a red file full of stories, as the train starts again without waiting for him. Then the fiction develops Helga's backstory, starting with her disenchantment from a relationship with a best selling author and then her ensuing relationship with Emilio, a stand owner in Retiro whom with she begins a new romance upon meeting with their pet dogs, spiralling into an abusive relationship as Emilio gradually submits Helga to behaving like another dog. Upon reaching her lowest point and fantasizing with killing Emilio with a hammer and feeding his brain to dogs, Helga decides to kill him via poisoning. Yet rather than killing him, the supplied drug turns Emilio into a feces-gazing near-catatonic state, and so that is the reason why she gets rid of him in the psychiatric clinic. Helga is fascinated by the stories in the red file. Another story is that of the failed romance in Paris between Gárate (a man born with severe flaws in his skeleton with deluded expectations about relationships, women and, broadly construed, life in general) and Rosa (a woman with one leg shorter than the other one). Helga decides to try to publish the red file, and so she begins a search for Ángel, going to the latter's purported house in Galapagar, where she is told that Ángel is not a psychiatrist but a man suffering from a condition of personality disorder. Upon visiting the house in Las Ventas, Helga meets with Ángel in the garbage-ridden basement, which explodes in a seemingly spontaneous combustion. After surviving the incident and being seen giving consent to a neurosurgical intervention, Helga takes another train, meeting with a man looking like Martín.

On the eve of her college graduation from the University of Texas, Natalie has sex with her friend Gabe. A few weeks later, Natalie feels sick and her best friend Cara gets her pregnancy tests. When Natalie takes them, her life diverges into two parallel realities based on the result.
In the reality where Natalie's test is positive, she moves back home with her mom and dad, who are less than thrilled, especially when Gabe spontaneously proposes. They encourage Natalie to still pursue her dream career in animation while she struggles with the realization that she will become a mother.
In the reality where her test is negative, she moves to Los Angeles with Cara and they start building their careers. Natalie applies to be an assistant to animator Lucy Galloway. After pining for the job, she gets an offer, and forms a strong bond with her colleague Jake. They encourage each other to follow their dreams, with him desiring to be a successful movie producer.
In the pregnancy reality, Natalie and Gabe struggle to coparent as their daughter Rosie is born. He wants them to move in with him, but Natalie does not agree and tells him to date. Gabe meets Miranda, who Natalie is jealous of.
When Natalie visits Cara and her girlfriend in LA, she gets a call from Rosie who says she is left overnight with a stranger. Natalie rushes back, later finding out he proposed to Miranda. Natalie throws herself into her artwork to get over Gabe.
In the other reality, Natalie and Jake develop a strong romantic relationship and consider moving in together. That is, until Jake receives a year-long job producing in Nova Scotia. They try long distance, but Natalie finds it isn’t working for her as Jake is always busy with work.
Natalie shows Lucy her portfolio, and is given some very critical notes, saying her work is unoriginal. She encourages her to quit to find her voice, so she does. She returns home to a friend’s baby shower with Cara, feeling like a failure.
In both realities, Natalie has a career breakthrough. She gets accepted to the South by Southwest film festival where in one reality, she sits on a panel of creators including Lucy, and in another, her short film is showcased. In one reality, Natalie sees Gabe’s band in a bar, catching up with him after five years.
Later on, Natalie is surprised that Jake has traveled to see her short film, despite risking his job on the movie. Lucy sees Natalie’s work and encourages her to stop when she returns to Los Angeles. In the other, Natalie and Rosie also watch Gabe's band perform at a bar. Afterwards, she asks him why Miranda isn't at the gig. Gabe tells her that he broke off the engagement because he is in love with her, not Miranda.
In one reality, Jake and Natalie walk through the streets, happy to be reunited. In the other, Gabe and Natalie have a serious conversation about how they would like to develop their relationship. Both realities converge when each of the couples walk past Natalie’s sorority house, where she took the pregnancy test. In both realities, Natalie walks up into the bathroom, looks into the mirror, and reassures herself that things worked out.

He visits him in jail, where Judy explains that he got arrested as he had an arrest warrant in Trenton, which falls out of Jake's jurisdiction after he cleared his criminal record in New York.
As Judy is about to be transported to South Woods State Prison, Jake agrees to transfer him to the prison so they can have one last fun time together before his incarceration by taking him on a Pontiac Trans Am and both wearing rings with the initials "PB & J" (Pontiac Bandit & Jake). They start their road trip by driving on the Pontiac and giving Judy his last great meal before prison. However, Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) arrives and tells Jake that he shouldn't trust Judy as he will probably try to escape, and in order to avoid any connection to the Pontiac, has them travel with him on his RV. Jake does not believe him until Judy himself says he will try to escape.
While on the RV, Jake and Judy decide to play a trivia contest: if Jake wins, Judy will not escape but if Judy wins, Jake will let him go. Jake misses the final question when he fails to know if Judy had an earring. However, Jake reveals that he only played the contest in order to buy time as he texted Holt (Andre Braugher) about their location. But Judy states he knew Jake's intentions and he changed his phone numbers so instead of texting Holt, he texted Trudy and his crew is on the way. Jake contacts Holt, who threatens that he will be fired if Judy escapes. In order to avoid Judy's men, Jake rents a Galaxie 500 to drive to prison.
Holt sends a police unit to escort Jake and Judy to the prison. However, Jake gets suspicious when the police indicate he takes a different route and deviates from the route, losing the police escort although Judy confesses they didn't work for him. He decides to use his phone's GPS to get to the prison but he ends up cornered by Trudy and henchmen; Judy changed the destination from his phone while they were on the car. However, Judy is shocked that the henchmen intend to kill Jake, as Trudy had hired them on Craigslist because Judy's regular henchmen have been arrested.
Judy gives Jake a signal and they both take down the henchmen. The police arrive and Judy and the henchmen are arrested. Jake and Judy talk briefly before he is taken by the police with Judy blaming himself for being friends with a cop and they hug. Two weeks later, Judy talks to Jake to say he is glad that they were friends. However, Jake finds that Judy is not in prison, but in Amsterdam to start a new life. Judy implies that Jake put a pen on Judy when they hugged, which eventually led to his escape. They both reaffirm their friendship before hanging up.
The squad is called to Downtown Brooklyn for a bomb threat on a ''The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'' tour bus. However, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has already been called and is taking over the case. Holt (Andre Braugher) quickly hands them the case, which frustrates Jake (Andy Samberg).
Jake confides in Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) that he feels like the FBI is not taking the case seriously. That night, he decides to investigate on his own and finds a suspicious man arriving to the bomb location, which is close to an IRS building. The man tries to flee but Jake catches him and arrests him. However, Holt tells him that the FBI already solved the case and caught the criminal, who confessed. As the man Jake arrested was in custody, he lost his job and plans to sue the precinct for the wrongful arrest, which makes Holt consider suspending Jake. However, O'Sullivan (John C. McGinley) shows up and offers to drop the suspension charges against Jake.
Jake tells Holt and Amy (Melissa Fumero) that he suspects that O'Sullivan set him up so he could take down Amy's NYPD reform program. In order to prove if he hired the man, Amy and Rosa take O'Sullivan to a bar to get him drunk but both end up drunk and O'Sullivan has not reached his limit due to his high alcohol tolerance. After some rounds, Amy confronts him about blackmailing Jake but O'Sullivan says he isn't involved in that, he was only messing with the precinct's vending machine. Amy tries to warn Jake, who may have found a lead on the man giving a fake address, but he left his phone at the precinct.
Amy and Rosa reach Jake to warn him about the man's innocence but Rosa accidentally crashes her bike on a stand, exposing Jake's cover to the man. While Jake talks to Holt about the case, O'Sullivan enters, offering another deal in which the police will not admit any wrongdoing and use it to their advantage. This makes Holt "huffy," and he reprimands O'Sullivan for letting his officers go without any punishment as it will build more trust issues with the community. Jake then decides to confess having committed a mistake at following a case beyond his jurisdiction and committing police intimidation. Jake is suspended for five months but he feels good for having done the right thing.

Their arguments lead to a fight with apples, which ends when Boyle hits Terry in the mouth. They apologize for their behavior, although Terry still intends to continue selling candies.
Following the events of ''Batman Returns'', Gotham City is in chaos as a result of a war between a gang of Joker-inspired criminals and a group of vigilantes dressed up as Batman. District attorney Harvey Dent vows to take down the real Batman, whom he holds responsible for inspiring these copycats, and to discredit police commissioner Jim Gordon. Dent is aided by his fiancée, Barbara Gordon, a GCPD sergeant and Gordon's daughter. One night, he brings the National Guard and tries to lure Batman into a trap using the Bat-Signal with Lieutenant Harvey Bullock. While patrolling in Dent's childhood neighborhood, Burnside, Batman encounters another masked vigilante as he confronts a young thief who was trying to help his younger sister. The thief is killed by a stray bullet when Batman attempts to escape the National Guard, leaving Bruce racked with guilt.
The vigilante is a young man from Burnside named Drake Winston, who works as a mechanic at an auto shop owned by Dent's childhood mentor, Jerome Otis. After being criticized by the Burnside neighborhood council for the National Guard's actions, Dent makes a powerful televised speech denouncing the violence. Inspired by the speech and the thief's death, Bruce meets with the council and Dent at Otis' auto shop and offers to pay for an education at Gotham University for all of the children in Burnside. Shortly after the meeting, the shop is attacked by the Batman impersonators, who tracked Drake to the garage after he stopped them from robbing a store during the speech. When Bruce attempts to stop them, he finds that they have already been defeated by Catwoman. Dent goes inside the burning auto shop to find Drake, where he is knocked unconscious near car batteries leaking sulfuric acid.
Bruce and Drake work together to rescue Harvey just before the auto shop blows up. Dent survives but is rushed to the hospital after the acid burns the left side of his face. Much to his dismay, Bruce is hailed as a hero by the press and finds out that Drake saw him confront the arsonists. At the hospital, Dent's subconscious (taking on the form of an alternate self where he rescued Drake and became governor) encourages him to think of the power in the choices he makes, inspiring him to mark one side of his two-headed coin. Later that night, Catwoman tells Batman she's back in Gotham to track down rich criminals and criticizes him for not making more of an effort to stop them before they go on to stop the fires from the arsonists, who were released early on bail.
Dent escapes his hospital room as he begins displaying increasingly erratic behavior and relying on his coin to make most of his decisions. Barbara hears what Dent did the next day while talking to Selina Kyle, who takes the opportunity to scan Barbara's hard drive under the guise of helping her with a virus. Dent steals multiple files from the GCPD before retreating into the subway and sets up the abandoned Burnside station as his new base of operations. Meanwhile, Bruce invites Drake to meet him at Wayne Manor to discuss the arsonists. Prior to their meeting, Bruce learns that his great-grandfather acquired an automotive company owned by Drake's ancestors in a forced buyout. Drake goads Bruce into fighting him and deduces that he is Batman from his fighting style before revealing himself to be the masked vigilante from Burnside. He proposes they form a partnership to combat the chaos slowly brewing in the city.
As her father resigns as commissioner, Barbara receives a note from Dent telling her to meet him at the park. Dent hires a criminal the police use as an informant who was connected to "The Lincoln Job", a case where a group of robbers attempted to rob 31 million dollars in two armored cars, and uses him to recruit the various Joker gangs for an attack on the GCPD. They collapse four subway tunnels in close proximity to the GCPD headquarters and ambush the police outside. Batman helps Gordon fight the gang members inside while Drake takes out the snipers covering the streets. They eventually confront Dent in the evidence room stealing a suitcase from the Lincoln Job case after shooting Bullock. Dent manages to make Batman accidentally shoot Gordon with a knockout dart, allowing him to steal the suitcase and kidnap the commissioner while forcing Batman to stay behind to save Bullock and deal with the police.
The next day, Dent donates $900,000 to the residents of Burnside. Batman and Drake locate him at the park where he's meeting with Barbara thanks to Gordon placing the knockout dart in his clothes. Barbara attempts to arrest Dent, but is knocked out by Catwoman, who encourages Batman and Drake to follow Dent while she takes care of the police and henchmen nearby. At the station, Gordon calls out Dent for his twisted sense of morality, prompting him to shoot the commissioner despite the coin flip encouraging him not to. As Gordon dies, Batman arrives to confront the fallen district attorney. Dent blows up the station and critically injures Batman, discovering his secret identity in the process. Catwoman and Drake arrive to rescue Bruce and take him back to the Batcave for Alfred to tend to his wounds.
When Bruce wakes up, Selina tells him about the Lincoln Job case that she's been investigating. A financial company called Lincoln Savings and Loan had been running federal aid funds through a string of mobbed-up front companies which resulted in millions in kickbacks for politicians and less for the city. The suitcase Dent stole contains incriminating documents against them, giving him control over all the major politicians in the city. Dent orders them to drop all charges against him and displays his dominance by killing mob boss Carmine Falcone. The next day, Dent murders Otis after the latter disowns him and frames Drake for the crime. He then drives to Wayne Manor and meets Bruce in the Batcave, attempting to use his secret to blackmail Batman into becoming his enforcer. Bruce refuses and instead allows Dent to flip his coin to give him two options: Kill Bruce, or allow Bruce to help him reform so they could work together to save the city the right way. As Dent flips the coin, Catwoman cuts the giant penny hanging in the Batcave and makes it land right next to him, causing Dent to fall to his death.
Bruce chastises Selina and claims he palmed Dent's coin so that it would've landed on the good side and gives up on reforming her. Selina calls Bruce out for his rich upbringing and finds out he actually gave Dent his own coin back. As she takes her cat and decides to leave him for good, Bruce finds out she placed a microphone in the cat's collar. Two days later, Bruce clears Drake's name from Otis' death and gives him access to the Batcycle. Drake tells Bruce he has an older sister who'd be willing to adopt the thief's younger sister and suggests sending her there instead of just setting her up with a $10 million trust fund so that she could grow up with a loving family. Barbara receives a package from the late Harvey that contains evidence revealing Batman's secret identity and a letter from Catwoman offering her partnership to incriminate Gotham's power elite. Later that night, Bruce decides on whether to go out on patrol or not by flipping a coin as the Bat-Signal shines in the sky.

Sybilla communicates to the assigned officer, a young Puerto Rican woman named Ines Iglesias, that she was abducted, raped, and left for dead by a group of five or six white police officers. As Sybilla is largely uncommunicative and Ednetta is hostile to Iglesias, the interview ends quickly, and Ednetta insists on taking Sybilla home.
Ednetta takes Sybilla to Sybilla's grandmother's house to hide and refuses to tell the police where she is. She tries to conceal the attack from Anis Schutt, her common-law husband who has harbored a deep hatred of the police since they killed his brother, and she rebuffs the entreaties of neighbors and civil rights lawyers to pursue the case against the police.
A month after Sybilla was discovered, word of the alleged attack reaches the ears of Marus Mudrick, a Black preacher and prominent civil rights activist. Mudrick spots an opportunity to capitalize on the crime, and reaches out to Ednetta and Sybilla offering to represent them and publicize their case. Ednetta and her daughter are hesitant, but eventually given in to Mudrick's charm.
Mudrick quickly drums up outrage over the attack and the inaction of the Pascayne police, with the hesitant support of his twin brother Byron, a respectable lawyer with a milder temperament who somewhat resents Marus's success. A rally that Mudrick convenes in Pascayne turns violent when he urges them to march on the city hall. In the ensuing chaos, Iglesias, who is attending the rally off-duty, is injured, loses her service weapon, and is subsequently reassigned to a different division as punishment.
In December, rookie police officer Jerold "Jere" Zahn kills himself after finding out that he has been let go from the force. Seizing on the news, Mudrick compels Sybilla to identify Zahn as one of her rapists. When the district attorney challenges the accusation, Mudrick accuses him of participating in the rape, too. Meanwhile, Mudrick has increasingly taken control of Ednetta and Sybilla's lives, moving them from their home and even confiscating a Rolex watch that Mike Tyson gave as a gift to Sybilla. At the height of the crusade, Mudrick is stabbed and nearly killed by an agent of one of his rivals, the militant leader of the Kingdom of Islam known as the Black Prince.
A few months later, Sybilla has joined the Kingdom of Islam and the Black Prince has taken up her cause. In a series of flashbacks, it is implied that Sybilla and Ednetta concocted the story of the gang rape after Anis beat Sybilla brutally. At a rally for Sybilla organized by the Black Prince in Pascayne, Anis is stopped by the police. After hesitating, Anis shoots two of them and is instantly killed by a barrage of return fire.

In December 1993, Nicole Wilson reads a letter from her now-dead mother Claire. Nicole's father, Leonard McGrath, was the owner of the Timberline Hotel, a mountain hotel in Lewis and Clark County, Montana, situated in the Helena National Forest. In 1983, Leonard had an affair with Nicole's 16-year-old classmate Rachel Foster. Once their relationship was discovered, Rachel seemingly killed herself nine weeks into her pregnancy, and Claire left town with Nicole. In the letter, Claire instructs Nicole to inspect the hotel and sell it.
Nicole visits the hotel. She gets a call from a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) agent named Irving Crawford. Irving states that he is meant to assist Nicole during her stay at the hotel. She rejects his assistance, telling him she will leave as soon as possible. Irving warns her against it, due to an ongoing heavy snowstorm, but Nicole says she still plans on leaving. However, Nicole discovers she is unable to leave, which angers her. She informs Irving she'd rather not discuss what happened between her father and Rachel, when Irving reveals he's aware of the situation. Irving reveals that due to the snowstorm, Nicole's lawyer, Mr. Jenkins, is unable to come to the hotel to help with the inspection, and that he instructs her to start with the second floor.
Nicole questions Irving on his knowledge about her family and the hotel, he reveals that due to the Timberline's isolated location, he was often sent by FEMA to provide supplies. A phone rings—even though the hotel's phone lines are down—and Nicole answers. Its voice warns her to not sell the hotel, as Rachel "is still there". While looking for the hotel's generator, due to the lack of power, Nicole finds a recently opened lipstick. Nicole talks to Irving about her theory that Rachel might still be alive and collects clues, including a journalist believing Rachel's suicide note was fabricated, and a classmate of hers believing she saw Rachel at the Timberline.
Two days later, Irving shows Nicole a tape taken by ghost-hunters after Rachel's death. Nicole enters the room where the tape was recorded and finds it barricaded. After unlocking it, Nicole finds a microphone allowing her to hear faint sounds. In the tape, one of the hunters hears a woman's voice with the microphone and they all flee upon noticing a strange light, with the door shutting behind them.
Nicole wakes up inside a church, which connects to the hotel through an underground passage. Calling Irving, she realizes she was sleepwalking. Revisiting the church, she remembers a rhyme her father had taught her to find a secret storeroom inside the passage. There, she finds a room modelled after Rachel's bedroom, and the key to her music box. While Nicole believes someone—possibly Rachel—was living there, Irving argues that it was built by Leonard as a shrine, which angers Nicole. Opening the music box, Nicole remembers the events of December 27, 1983, when Rachel supposedly killed herself; Nicole was playing at a hockey game, which her mother had driven her to.
Nicole investigates a storeroom and finds multiple mannequins, three of which have been set up to indicate a pregnant woman being killed by someone with a hockey stick; Nicole realizes the hockey stick belongs to her. When calling Irving, he acts suspiciously, and tells her to continue her search. Going back to the second floor, a door leading to the west wing, which Nicole previously found locked, she finds unlocked. There she finds Irving's room, which includes the equipment he used to talk to her. Irving reveals he was behind many of the strange occurrences and that he used Nicole to help uncover what had truly happened to Rachel. Irving is Rachel's younger brother, and in his restrictive household, his sister was the only person that brought him joy. Rachel suffered from dyslexia, and Irving wished to protect her, with Leonard being the one person who "saw her".
Going to the attic, Nicole finds a recording Leonard left for her, asking her to find out what truly happened to Rachel, and the keys to her mother's car. Opening its truck, she finds a blood-stained coat. When she goes to wash it, she uncovers a repressed memory of the night Rachel died, sharing it with Irving. Claire murdered Rachel with Nicole's hockey stick, drove Nicole to her hockey game, and while she was playing, framed Rachel's suicide. Having learned the truth, Irving thanks Rachel and goes out into the cold to die, before the signal is lost, with Nicole begging him to not leave her alone. Later, Nicole is inside her car, planning to take her life via carbon monoxide poisoning. Receiving a call from her lawyer and informing him she does not plan on selling the hotel, she starts the engine, while also talking to her mother and father. If Nicole decides to turn the engine off, she promises her parents to bring the Timberline back to its feet.
Arthur was sent on a coffee run in NYC when he noticed a cute boy. He follows him into a nearby Post Office and gets to know that he is gay too, and he's mailing back a box of his ex-boyfriend's stuff after their recent breakup. Arthur's heart soars but before they can really talk, they are separated by a flash mob. Upset that he did not get the guy's name, Arthur starts to leave but suddenly finds a ripped piece of the mailing label on the ground and decides to track him down (believing his name to be Hudson). Ben, who was unable to mail the break-up box because it would be too expensive (and maybe because he still hadn't moved on), heads to his best friend Dylan's house to hang out, where Dylan reveals that he has met a barista, that he really likes, named Samantha.
Arthur video chats his friends Ethan and Jessie who are back in Georgia and tells them about the post office incident and they encourage him to post on Craigslist's "missed connections" as a way to find Hudson. When this is unsuccessful, Arthur accepts that he is probably never going to find that boy. But while grabbing lunch with his co-workers Juliet and Namrata, Arthur hears the server call the name Hudson Robinson and his heart skips a beat. He is disappointed when he does not recognize the boy but later guesses that Hudson might be the name of the ex-boyfriend. He looks up Hudson's Instagram and manages to find one picture of the cute boy where he was wearing a shirt with a ‘Dream N Bean’ Coffee logo on it. But unfortunately, he was untagged. In one last-ditch effort, Arthur hangs a poster for a missing person in ‘Dream N Bean’ Coffee.
Meanwhile, Ben struggles with attending summer school because his ex, Hudson, is there. He is also frantically searching for Arthur and asks Dylan and Samantha to help try and track him down. Hoping to see him, Ben drags Dylan along to a Yale meetup group in Central Park but does not find him. Ben's Dad suggests looking on Craigslist but finds nothing as Arthur had deleted the post. Dylan then takes Ben to ‘Dream N Bean’, Samantha's workplace, to cheer him up and Ben finds the poster with his face on it and contacts Arthur via email.
After they finally find each other, Ben and Arthur start dating but keep having "do-over first dates” because they want their official first date to live up to the story of how they found each other. On their third “first date”, they almost kiss but then Arthur asks about Hudson and after finding out that Ben still has the break-up box, he questions whether Ben is as invested in making it work as he is. After a few days of not talking, Ben invites Arthur to karaoke with him, Dylan and Samantha and the date goes really well. Soon, they meet each other's parents at a dinner at Ben's house. Arthur has his first kiss with Ben and the two almost have sex but stop when they realize that Arthur isn't ready. As their relationship progresses, Arthur finds out that Ben is in summer school and Ben admits that he hid it from him because he was scared that future Yale student Arthur would think he was stupid. One day, Arthur attempts to surprise Ben at summer school, but when he finds out that Hudson is there too and that Ben lied about it, he breaks up with him immediately.
Arthur's parents head out of the city on his birthday, which he initially wanted to spend with Ben. After days of radio silence, Arthur receives a panicked call from Ben saying that Dylan was in hospital after having a panic attack and Arthur rushes to the hospital. Ben apologizes for everything and they agree to get back together. Ben forwards Arthur a few chapters of the fantasy novel he is working on, where he has written Arthur into the plot, as a present. Once they find out that Dylan is going to be ok, they return to Arthur's house where he finds Jessie and Ethan, who had flown up to surprise him. They reveal that they have been in a secret relationship for a while and were scared to tell Arthur, who admits to finding it strange but accepts it. Following a late night birthday party, Jessie and Ethan leave and Arthur and Ben have sex for the first time.
When the end of summer arrives, the day that Arthur has to head back to Georgia falls on the same day that Ben has an important exam that will determine whether he needs to repeat his junior year of high school. Early in the morning, Ben leads Arthur on a treasure hunt assisted by his friends, which takes them to all of the significant places that helped form their relationship. At the school, Arthur and Ben decide it is best that they part as friends rather than trying to force a long-distance relationship that will eventually fizzle out and they say a tearful goodbye.

In March 2004, Sophia Crane records her final interview regarding her unfinished documentary about the local legend Peeping Tom, tentatively titled Butterfly Kisses. She requests that, whoever finds her tapes, splice together this interview at the beginning and end of the film, as well as show it to her parents. In May 2015, aspiring filmmaker Gavin York (played by Seth Adam Kallick) has hired a documentary film crew to chronicle his discovery of the tapes, and the research to prove that they are real, in the hopes of this being his last ditch effort to "make it."
Peeping Tom is a supernatural entity called a "Flimmern Geist", or Flicker-Spirit that is summoned by staring down the Ilchester Tunnel between midnight and one a.m. for an hour, without blinking, at which point he will materialize. Once you see him, however, he will always be there, getting closer every time you blink, until he is close enough to give you "butterfly kisses" before scaring you to death. The students opt to set up a camera to record the tunnel for an hour, reasoning that the lens is like an eye and the shutter would cause it to blink. It isn't until they're looking at the footage later that they realize it actually worked.
In his attempts to legitimize these tapes, Gavin is not able to confirm the existence of any of the people involved, including the students and their professor Dr. Wolfe, or any other corroborating information. The only person he's able to identify and interview is Matt Lake, an author interviewed about the local legend by the original team, but he doesn't remember much about the interview, and has no other information to show that they ever existed. In another bid for believers, he presents the footage of Peeping Tom appearing to a local ghost hunting group, The Inspired Ghost Tracking Team, who dismiss the film out of hand.
While going through the footage, the team he hired, headed by actual film's director Erik Kristopher Myers, discovers some audio distortion in the original tapes that is Morse code for "Blink." However, the documentary team is highly skeptical of Gavin's claims. Their questions begin to skew more towards the idea that perhaps Gavin has made this footage himself.
We learn that Gavin has failed in his previous attempts to become a filmmaker, and his relationship with both his wife and son are strained at best. He is unaware of their financial issues, but is so focused on proving that these tapes are real that he ends up pushing everyone away. The team also discovers that the original filmmakers had previously won an award for a documentary where they used an actor to portray a real person, which continues to cast doubt on the "discovered" film.
Gavin goes on the radio and is interviewed by host Mike Jones over Gavin putting up the footage of Peeping Tom on a website. The plan is to drum up interest in the discovered film; however, the program goes awry from the outset, only to be made worse when ''The Blair Witch Project'' co-director Eduardo Sánchez calls in to dismiss it as an obvious derivative film. After the interview, Gavin's life continues to spiral apart when he finds a note left by his wife that she's left him after he used all the money for his son's education to fund this film.
Erik and his team find Gavin posted outside the Ilchester Tunnel in an attempt to recreate the experiment using a camera. When the team leaves Gavin to discuss the morality of what they're doing, they're interrupted by someone running across the tracks. They realize Gavin and the camera are missing, but their camera battery runs out while they're standing outside the tunnel.
We see some more footage from the original film, which shows Feldman attempting to best Peeping Tom. He is not successful. However, Erik gets a call that when they analyzed the footage, they could see an image in Peeping Tom's eye that was what he would've seen in the tunnel when the students originally filmed the tunnel and summoned him.
Further validation is found when the audio engineer is able to isolate the Morse Code sound, and when using a program called Iris from iZotope, it reveals the silhouette of Peeping Tom in the audio files. At this point, it is confirmed that Gavin has been missing for nine days.
Erik receives a package from Gavin that contains both a DVCam film, a package to Sophia Crane from Feldman that has Feldman's original notebook, and Gavin's notebook with a hotel keycard inside. The crew shows up to find it abandoned, but with tons of GoPros set up. They also find the box with the original tapes. When one of the crew checks the bathroom, they find Gavin's mangled body in the bathtub, dead from heart failure at 39. They debate the merits of showing the police the tapes or the original footage, and opt not to.
Sophia Crane's footage shows her attempting to not blink. She tells about how she had a dream about the tunnel, and was able to stare easily down the tunnel for the whole hour, until Peeping Tom appeared. However, to her horror, she realizes that she was not dreaming and was in fact at the tunnel, ten miles from her home.
Outside the tunnel, Erik and his team argue over whether or not they have an actual story. His crew argues to ditch the project, whereas Erik argues that they have a compelling story, all the footage and discoveries, and an end in Gavin York's death; that someone else could take all this and run, but it would be stupid not to put it out.
We then see the final interview once more from the beginning. Sophia states that he's right in front of her face, but she's found a way to beat him. She breaks a glass frame and cuts off her eyelids. The film ends with her bloody and screaming, along with the title card:
"Four-Fingered Films has undertaken all reasonable measures to ensure the accuracy of this film's content. If you have any information on the persons depicted, please contact your local authorities immediately."
During the credits, we see Sophia Crane still alive in an insane asylum, seemingly stroking the face of Peeping Tom.
''Kissing The Beehive'' is about Sam Bayer who is an author. Due to lack of inspiration for a novel which he had already collected an advance, he visits Crance's view in New York for inspiration. On getting there, he gets involved in an unsolved mystery of a female teenager in the town. He joins his friend Frannie McCabe who is police chief of Cranes View.
The film is almost three generations old. A man with his wife and children leaves his poor old parents and home alone and goes to Mumbai for his work.
Barton initially appears as himself, and after some brief patter, he takes on the personality of a neurotic single man who encounters Almira Gulch drinking in a cabaret bar, and tries to pick her up (being a one-man show, this "encounter" happens through a conversation of which the audience hears one side.) He is so fascinated by Gulch that he adopts her personality for the evening ("You're The Woman I'd Wanna Be"). The number does a slow build until, in a fit of exasperation, Barton turns into "Miss Gulch" before the audience's eyes with a deft "magical" costume change.
As described in the cast recording's liner notes, Almira is an "embittered also-ran." She resents the success and happiness that she perceives in others, most notably ''Wizard of Oz'' "costar" Judy Garland, and the show satirizes the cult status of Garland within the gay community. Almira complains that her big musical number ("I'm A Bitch") was cut from the final version of ''The Wizard of Oz'', while Garland achieved immortality by performing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
She describes the evolution of her acid personality by singing of a lonely childhood in Topeka, Kansas ("Born On A Bike"), a parody of Garland's "Born In A Trunk" song from ''A Star Is Born''. This devolves into the song the show is best-known for - "Pour Me a Man," where Almira reveals her extensive knowledge of liquor and booze, and her desire for a lover. In "Everyone Worth Taking" this ineptitude at finding a man is explored, as she looks into her romantic past, and how she is, in the words of Barton himself, "designed to survive all assaults from the optimist opposition." This heightens in "Don't Touch Me," where Miss Gulch speaks on the women who are lucky enough to have men but don't want them, and how she presumes they act. In a complete 180 to their attitude, when Miss Gulch unexpectedly meets a man herself, she makes her point known: "I'm Your Bitch". "Pour Me a Man (Part 2)" allows Almira to explore a world with both men and booze, instead of just the latter, but eventually bids her man goodbye in "Give My Best To The Blonde." Sharing the moral of the story with the audience in "Everyone Worth Taking (Part 2)/Finale," Miss Gulch bids us adieu and takes her leave.

The story is told in the first person by an anonymous narrator. In the private dining room of a famous Parisian restaurant, the narrator overhears the conversation of four journalists in the next room, Andoche Finot, Émile Blondet, Couture and Jean-Jacques Bixiou, all recurring characters in ''La Comédie humaine''.
They comment and speculate about the wealth of Eugène de Rastignac who they remember was poor when he first arrived in Paris. Bixiou tells the others that Rastignac owes his wealth to his dealings with Maison Nucingen, the famous Parisian bank run by Baron de Nucingen. Rastignac is the lover of Nucingen's wife Delphine. Nucingen pretends to be ignorant of this, but also decides to use Rastignac. Nucingen thinks that "capital is a power only when you are very much richer than other people", which is why he embarks on complex operations which can be summed up as follows: he raises the prices of securities and buys them back after having them artificially lowered. He even goes so far as to use men well regarded in the Parisian sphere, of which Rastignac is a part, to believe in his imminent ruin and to fuel the panic which then allows him to speculate. Nucingen has the art of combining false bankruptcies, advancing his pawns in the form of straw men. He can then buy back at a very low price the stocks that he had initially sold at higher prices.
His first liquidation enabled him to acquire a luxury mansion and embark on an extravagant business in shares in the mines of Wortschin. He then juggled with a second, then a third liquidation. Nucingen used a large number of "straw men", among them Eugène de Rastignac, and the count of Lupeaulx, who all enriched themselves in the process. However some of Nucingen's other clients, the Aldriggers, and the Beaudenords are financially ruined.

At the farm, Charles's cousin, Sam (Christopher Gehrman), explains that Pappy left no will and his son Lyndon (Gregg Binkley) could try to get his fortune. Jake then inspects the body and tells Charles's family that Pappy was poisoned and he suspects Lyndon was involved. Jake, Terry and Charles then question members of the family, who all claim that Lyndon was acting strangely at Pappy's birthday party. Lyndon admits arguing with Pappy but it wasn't over the will, it was over missing a Zoom family meeting. Jake finds poison in the barn along with a piece of hair and has everyone in the house give a piece of their hair for a DNA test. However, when the results get back, Jake finds that the DNA of all the Boyles indicates they are related, except for Charles himself.
Jake calls Charles's father Lynn, who states that Charles's mother had an affair with a rival florist, which resulted in his birth. Jake and Terry decide to solve the case before Charles learns of the DNA results. They keep investigating Lyndon but Jake finally discovers the truth: a nutria ate poison and then Pappy drank its milk, causing his death. However, Jake accidentally reveals that he got the DNA results and Charles discovers his true heritage. Jake also deduces that Sam hid Pappy's will as he was jealous of Charles delivering the eulogy at the funeral. Jake and Terry then help Charles feel better by giving him the dough jar that the Boyles believe that only "the one true Boyle" can open. Despite Terry not being able to loosen it, Charles succeeds and is declared "the one true Boyle" by his relatives.

That night, Amy questions how her life will change with her new promotion but Jake assures her they will know what to do.
Kai, Lu Xin and Tommy travel to Bangkok to hunt down the killer of Tommy's sister Jenny, having found on her body an ancient talisman that leads them to Thailand. There, biotech billionaire William Pan approaches them, requesting that they bring to him his twin sister, underworld boss Ku An Qi, a jiangshi who has been consuming massive amounts of qi to expand her supernatural powers in order to take over the world. William explains to them that he and Ku are descendants of Pangu, the being who had shaped the universe, whom the first Wu Assassin killed after he went mad with power and whose essence is now contained within two talisman: one in the possession of William and the other Tommy had found on Jenny, which had formerly belonged to Ku. William tells them that Ku had killed Jenny while searching for Kai, the current Wu Assassin, but lost her talisman in a fight with her, and that now he can use both talisman to depower Ku and restore order to the universe. The trio agree to help William.
Joined by Tommy's friend Preeya, the group plan to kidnap Ku from a meeting with the city's Triad bosses. However Ku uses mind control to make everyone in the building attack the group, while Kai is ambushed by long-time foe Zan, who is also working for Ku. They escape with the help of Zama, an Interpol agent also after Ku and Lu Xin's former lover. The group eventually make their way to the safety of Preeya's village, where the village shaman tells them that William is actually secretly working with Ku to attempt to reform Pangu so they can remake the world in their image. To do so, they require both talisman and Kai's qi.
William and Ku persuade Preeya to steal the talisman from Tommy by offering to bring her dead family back to life, and she uses it to absorb some of Kai's qi. The village is attacked by Ku's men but Kai, Lu Xin, Tommy and Zama escape. The group tracks down William and Ku to an archaeological dig site where the first Wu Assassin fought Pangu. A remorseful Preeya helps Tommy and Zama defeat Ku, while Kai fights and kills Zan. However with Kai's qi William manages to reform Pangu, who takes over his body and pits a mind controlled Lu Xin against Kai. Kai is able to snap him out of it and the two defeat Pangu, trapping a dispossessed William underground.

During a carousing night, Murakami hears of the bombing of Hiroshima and Russia's invasion of the Japanese mainland. He gets into an argument with the drunken Kira, who ridicules Murakami's wish for a "beautiful death".

The disagreements of Enes and Izo cause chaos throughout the city, where not everyone is ready to accept the inevitable changes that come with challenging times.
Because of the influencer's comment, everyone is looking for an answer to the question of where to eat the best ćevapi in Sarajevo, with social networks and other digital platforms creating "hype" among people. The book begins with Koli recounting his dangerous childhood in Mythen Rood. A rite-of-passage of the village is to test the village adolescents to determine if they are able to wield old technological weapons left behind by a past civilization. Those who pass this test are adopted into the village ruling group, the Ramparts.
Koli fails the Rampart's test, but later learns from a wandering healer, Ursula, that the test is rigged in favour of a particular family who is using the guise of technology to maintain hereditary power. Outraged, Koli breaks into the Rampart barracks and steals a piece of technology – which turns out to be a Sony DreamSleeve, a fictional audio player controlled by a Japanese AI named Monono Aware (a play-on-words of ''mono no aware''). At a village wedding, Koli reveals his ability to use the DreamSleeve technology. The Ramparts banish Koli from the village for the theft. As a result of his banishment, Koli is renamed "Koli Faceless", the surname given to shunned people. Koli is left to fend for himself in the dangerous woods surrounding the village. One of the Ramparts secretly follows and confronts Koli, though Koli is able to defend himself – resulting in the death of the Rampart.

Eventually, the two escape Senlas' cult with the help of Monono, leading to Senlas' death in a fire.
After their escape, one of Koli's kidnappers follows the group and confronts them. The kidnapper, Cup, is incapacitated. Monono and Ursula advocate killing Cup, but Koli refuses. Monono reveals that there is still signs of life emanating from London. Koli, Ursula, Cup, and Monono decide to travel to London in search of old technology and the potential to reverse the homozygosity which has afflicted the remnants of humanity.
In modern-day Taiwan, medical experts and government officials butt heads over the "Alvin" virus, a flu-like infection. The government has refused to take large-scale measures to prevent the transmission of Alvin, and many ordinary people doubt that the virus exists at all. However, some virologists fear that it has the potential to mutate and cause serious illness.
Jim and Kat, a young couple, live in Taipei. While driving to the train station, they pass a bloody crime scene. Jim drops Kat off at the station, and then goes to a nearby cafe. There, a bloodied older woman with darkened eyes assaults other customers, spitting thick mucus on one and burning an employee with hot cooking oil. The man she spat on attacks another customer. She chases Jim into the street, where she is run over by a car driven by a man with the same darkened eyes and crazed expression.
Jim flees back to his apartment on foot, chased by the infected locals. He texts Kat to stay where she is, promising to rescue her. Then a neighbor attacks him, cutting off two fingers with garden shears. Jim fends off his neighbor and manages to escape, using a cloth to try to cover the wound.
Meanwhile, Kat's train is attacked by two infected men who stab passengers with knives and infect others, including a middle-aged Businessman who has confessed his fascination with her. The Alvin virus transforms his anger at being rejected by her into a desire to rape and murder. As other infected passengers slaughter the others, Kat escapes from the train with Molly, a woman who was stabbed in the eye by the Businessman. The Businessman pursues them, armed with an axe.
Kat and Molly arrive at the hospital, which is overrun with those who have been harmed by the infected. The government broadcasts an emergency message vowing to get control of the situation, but an infected general then kills the president with a grenade. The hospital patients begin to panic, distracting the police officers there, just as the Businessman and other infected locals break through the doors. Kat escapes into a stairwell as the Businessman rapes Molly's eye wound, infecting her.
Jim escapes to the outskirts of town, passing scenes of sadism along the way. He manages to contact Kat, who tells him where she is. As they talk, he begins to cry and hallucinates that a living skull laps up his blood and sweat—signs that he is infected.
The Businessman continues his pursuit of Kat through the hospital's off-limits hallways, but she crushes his head with a fire extinguisher. Kat is then rescued by Dr. Wong, who has been hiding in the maternity ward. Wong explains that he attempted to find the cure for the Alvin virus, which — in its mutated form — connects the parts of the brain that govern sex and aggression. Wong also theorizes that the reason the infected cry is because they are fully aware of the terrible things they do but are completely unable to stop, likening it to resisting the urge to blink. When Kat finds an infected baby in a medical waste bin, Wong injects her with a serum of the virus to test if she is immune to it. He admits that he had conducted similar tests on the babies who had been abandoned in the ward, but all of them had become infected; Wong was forced to euthanize them. If Kat becomes infected, he will kill her too; if not, she holds the key to stopping the virus's spread.
Kat manages to text her location to Jim, who has just arrived at the hospital. Realizing she is immune to the virus, Wong calls for a military helicopter, intending to take her to a safe location. He warns her that, without him, she will be shot on sight by the soldiers when they arrive. But as they make their way to the roof, two infected attack them. Wong manages to kill them but is wounded. Jim then arrives and, after a struggle, kills a now infected Wong, who admits with his last breath to having enjoyed killing the babies.
Kat realizes that Jim is infected and locks him outside the stairwell to the roof. He tells her that being infected feels wonderful and that he can think of no more loving act than to mutilate and kill her. Disgusted and with her sanity broken, Kat flees to the roof, where she is presumably killed by the soldiers. Grinning sadistically at the thought of Kat being killed, Jim dies, sitting against the stairwell gate.

Mason, who speaks Māori, volunteers to translate for the newly-arrived prisoners, but realises Hōhepa is among them. Hōhepa dies of tuberculosis in 1847 and is buried on Maria Island. In ''The Other Side of November'', a woman is granted two lives: Léa (played by Arsinée Khanjian), is a bourgeois neurosurgeon living in Quebec, and Layla (also played by Arsinée Khanjian), is a humble seamstress in a small village in Lebanon. These two paths illuminate two different societies and their influence on self-realization. Time and fragmented memories are used playfully to tell the story. The question at the heart of the film is: If someone chose a different path in life years ago, would they still be the same person today?
Kayla is a young woman struggling to put her life together while also dealing with the heartbreak of a cheating ex, Trish, and the memory of being assaulted and beaten into a coma by a mugger named Jimmy. When she learns from Trish that Jimmy is no longer in prison Kayla and her friends decide to leave town for the weekend. They choose to go to Mabon, a remote village. They allow Trish to come, which surprises her since she had not been allowed back into the friend group after the breakup. While on route the group picks up a hitchhiker, who tells them that the village will be celebrating the summer solstice with partying and a ritual. Once they reach the house they discover that the house contains several pot plants, much to the delight of everyone but Trish. She is also reluctant when the same hitchhiker appears at the home to take them to the festival, as she would have preferred to stay and relax.
Once at the gathering the group learns that the area dedicates the ritual to the goddess Mabon and that each year they offer up their fears. Each member lists their own fear: Blake's is dogs, Stacey's is aging, Trish is afraid of bugs, and Kayla is afraid of Jimmy. While they find this strange, they eagerly take part in the ritual in order to also partake in the later partying. They're warned by a local woman, Mrs. March, to flee Mabon before the end of the ritual as they are intended to be sacrifices to the goddess Mabon. She is dismissed as a lunatic by the local priest, Father Saxon. The friends soon discover that the warning was accurate, as they begin to experience strange hallucinations. Trish and Kayla reconnect romantically and rekindle their relationship. March appears again to warn them, telling them that the hallucinations cannot harm them but can drive them to harm or kill themselves. If they face their fears, they can survive.
Blake and Stacey both die from their hallucinations; Stacey accidentally impales herself on gardening tools while Blake is killed by running into the road and becoming impaled by stag horns on a local's truck. Trish covers her arms in cleaner, as well as gargling with the chemical, in an attempt to rid her body of imagined bugs, but is discovered by Kayla before she can die. Kayla is able to help Trish into their car, but is stopped by the villagers when she tries to leave the village. She's horrified to see her attacker among the crowd. Kayla is initially overpowered by him, but manages to muster her inner strength. She declares that she is no longer afraid of him, causing Jimmy to disappear as he is a hallucination. Kayla also sets fire to a nearby effigy of Mabon, fully breaking any power that is being held over her or Trish. Now powerless, as any attempts to kill Trish or Kayla would be rendered meaningless, the villagers part and allow the two women to leave the town.

In both the full 2021 game and the 2015 mod, the story of ''The Forgotten City'' explores the existential relationship between humanity and its laws.
The full game begins with the protagonist waking after being rescued from floating down the Tiber River in Italy. The mysterious individual who rescues the player character asks them to look for her friend, who had disappeared whilst investigating nearby ruins. As the player explores said ruins, they are sent towards the era of the Roman Empire in the now-restored city. As the plot progresses and the player continues exploring it is elaborated that the city is under the conditional protection of the gods, where if anyone is to commit sin, all citizens of the city would be equally punished and turned into gold in a system referred to as the Golden Rule (originally Dwarves' Law). These gold statues, depicting previous inhabitants and residents, can be heard whispering, but seemingly only by the player. The specific sins that are criteria for the Golden Rule to be enacted are not clear to any resident of the city, with numerous records of contradictions. The player is able to re-enter the portal they had entered from and restart the time loop if the Golden Rule is ever enacted, allowing them to keep both physical and mental objects such as important items and information.
The plot was significantly altered from its original story in the mod, with the setting of a Dwemer ruin being shifted towards that of ancient Rome as well as much of the script being updated and rewritten. Multiple endings were both added and expanded from the original story.
Each character in the game has a strong background story and argument, complicating the decisions players make in the game. In the future, the developer plans to provide expansion through mods.
In Miami, Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) approaches mob hitman Tommy Bucks (Peter Greene) at one of his parties. Raylan presses Bucks with his deal where he was supposed to leave the city. Bucks pulls a gun out but Raylan quickly shoots and kills Bucks in self-defense.
The shooting sparks an investigation by Raylan's superiors despite Raylan insisting that Bucks pulled the gun first. Raylan's boss, Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Dan Grant (Matt Craven) decides to transfer Raylan to Lexington, Kentucky, his home state, much to Raylan's reluctance. At Lexington, Raylan meets with Deputy Chief Art Mullen (Nick Searcy), an old colleague from the academy and is introduced to his colleagues Tim Gutterson (Jacob Pitts) and Rachel Brooks (Erica Tazel). Mullen assigns Raylan to investigate Raylan's childhood friend, Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins), a white supremacist. That night, Boyd and his colleague Jared Hale (Ryan O'Nan) drive to an African-American church where Boyd uses a rocket-propelled grenade to blow up the church. Suspecting Hale of being an informant, Boyd kills him in their getaway vehicle.
Raylan investigates Hale's murder and connects the murder to the church bombing as Boyd used the phrase "fire in the hole" before launching the rocket, which was a common phrase he used when he and Boyd were coal miners. Boyd's brother Bowman is killed by his wife Ava (Joelle Carter). Raylan visits her at her house as an old friend, where she defends her actions as her relationship with Bowman was abusive. Boyd's associate Dewey Crowe (Damon Herriman) arrives to take Ava but Raylan forces him out and threatens him to tell Boyd he wants to talk with him.
Raylan meets with Boyd at his church, where he deduces that Boyd targeted the church for distributing marijuana. He then has Boyd show up the next day at the station for a suspect line-up. However, the church's pastor, Israel Fandi (Doug E. Doug) does not identify Boyd and they are forced to release him. Boyd then tells Raylan that he knows about the Miami shooting and gives him a similar ultimatum: Raylan must leave Harlan County or Boyd will kill him. That night, Boyd unexpectedly shows up at Ava's house and she calls Raylan. Raylan drives there but his team is caught up in a gunfight with Boyd's men and he leaves. He then catches Derek "Devil" Lennox (Kevin Rankin) and Dewey following him and handcuffs them in their car before arriving at Ava's house.
At Ava's house, Raylan meets with Boyd for dinner where Boyd expresses his intention to kill Raylan in the same way he killed Tommy Bucks in Miami. However, Ava arrives with a shotgun aiming at Boyd, prompting him to reach for his gun. Raylan then shoots Boyd in the chest, seriously wounding him and is taken to the hospital. That night, Raylan visits his ex-wife Winona Hawkins (Natalie Zea), scaring her husband Gary. He discusses his association with Tommy Bucks and his ultimatum. He then ponders if he would've killed Bucks had he not drawn the gun first. Winona then remarks that Raylan is the angriest man she ever met.
The first novel in the series follows Vega Jane, a fourteen-year-old girl, as she uncovers secrets about the fictional village of Wormwood. The village is surrounded by the 'Quag' a dark forest filled with dangerous beasts and 'outliers', the Quag is described in the book as "an impenetrable barrier that circled Wormwood like a noose." Vega lives in a boarding house called 'The Loons' with her intelligent younger brother called John Jane. Vega works as a 'Finisher', a person whose job it is to add the final touches to handicrafts before they are purchased. One morning Vega witnesses Quentin Herms, her colleague and mentor, being chased into the Quag by the village Council and their attack canines. She later finds a note written by Quentin stating that he had left her something, she later finds this object hidden in her treehouse, it is a map of the Quag with detailed descriptions of the creatures it contains. Vega's younger brother John is then taken by Morigonne, the 'keeper of Wormwood', he is chosen for his exceptional intelligence to help the Council in constructing a wall to keep out dangers from the Quag. Vega then inherits 'Destin', a chain that allows her to fly when worn. She also finds an Adder stone with magical properties that can heal cuts and bruises when you think good thoughts. She also acquires an 'Elemental', a shield of sorts that can grow and shrink. The Council discovers Vega is in possession of a map of the Quag, they imprison her and put her on trial, threatening her with execution before offering her a chance at freedom in return for fighting in the 'Duelum', a twice a year event where all people over 24 years old must fight until there is only one winner. Vega accepts and goes on to be declared the "champion of the Duelum". However, after winning the Duelum, Vega decides to escape Wormwood with her dog 'Harry Two' and her friend Delph. With Morrigone and the council after her, they use the magical chain Destin to fly over the wall surrounding Wormwood, into the Quag. They are then chased by monsters to the edge of a cliff where they are forced to jump.
The second novel in the series follows the events directly after the ending of the first, with the trio, Vega, her dog Harry Two, and her friend Delph, jumping off a cliff after being chased by monsters in the Quag. The plot focuses on the companions and their journey through the Quag as they battle monsters and try to stay alive. The trio survive the fall from the cliff but they are soon captured and taken prisoner by the 'Ekos', a subterranean society led by a former resident of Wormwood that calls himself 'King Thorne'. However, Vega and Delph, along with help from some of the Ekos, are able to defeat Thorne and escape. Soon after they escape a storm comes, separating Vega and Delph. Vega then comes across Astrea Prine, the 'Keeper' of the Quag and a being that is over 800 years old. Astrea led the people who would go on to found Wormwood, and was alive when they went to war with the 'Maladon', a goup of people described as thriving on pain and suffering. Astrea and her people lost the battle with the Maladon and the remaining survivors retreated to found the settlement of Wormwood where they used magic to build the Quag as a defense system to keep the Maladon out. Astrea finds Delph and explains that as the Keeper of the Quag, she must keep them prisoner as no-one is supposed to cross the Quag. However, Vega has learnt that like Astrea, she too is a powerful sorceress; Vega then fights back against her imprisonment, escaping with Delph. After fleeing from Astrea, Vega and Delph continue to proceed through the five 'circles' of the Quag, where they meet Lackland and Petra who decide to join them in their journey. Together the companions face numerous creatures such as 'Garms', 'Amarocs', 'Lycans', 'Jabbits', Wendigos and 'Hyperbores'. Lackland is killed in the fifth circle of the Quag by 'Asurter', a fire monster. After Lackland's death Vega is able to escape the Quag with her companions and they begin to head towards a modern looking town that is nothing like the primitive village of Wormwood.
The third novel follows the story directly after the ending of ''The Keeper'' with the companions escaping the Quag and heading towards a modern looking town. The plot focuses on Vega's family history and her fight against the 'Maladon' an evil race that are enslaving the minds of people. After escaping the Quag, Vega, Delph, and Petra arrive in a modern town that they come to learn is called True. True is a town of modern innovation, extremely different to the primitive village of Wormwood. The companions are then attacked by the Maladon, this confuses Vega and she discovers that a mark on her hand that she obtained in the Quag is acting as a beacon to the Maladon; however, Vega is able to place a magical glove on her hand which prevents the mark from drawing the Maladon's attention. The companions then discover that the Maladon are enslaving the residents of True by brainwashing them so they remain docile and submissive. They are attacked by the Maladon again and fly away to a clearing in a wood, there they find a house owned by Vega's ancestors, they learn that the house is somehow invisible to the Maladons. They decide to stay at the house while they plan an attack on the Maladons. Vega follows a Maladon to a castle where she witnesses them turning magical people into slaves by draining their power into a bottle. Vega returns to the castle along with Delph and Petra where they then steal bottles of power belonging to the magical people, including a bottle with her grandfathers name on it. Vega then decides to return the power of those that have been turned into slaves and train them to create an army of sorcerers. Vega is later visited by the ghost of Morrigone who tells her that the Maladon destroyed Wormwood and killed almost everyone; she uses a spell to teleport to Wormwood and finds the town in ruins. She learns from the only surviving resident Thansius, that her brother, John, was taken and not killed. She then vows to take her revenge.
In ''The Stars Below,'' the fourth and final novel in the series, Vega Jane and her companions face Necro, an archmage and leader of the Maladons. Together with her companions and army of sorcerers, Vega plans an assault on Necro and his forces. However, while Vega and Delph were out meating up with allies, Necro attacked and due to Necro's strength and ability, they are outmatched and lose a large amount of their forces, as well as friends and family they found earlier, and the hidden mansion that they used as a refuge from the Maladons. Vega's army lose the battle against Necro; however, with the aid of a divinity, Vega is able to duel Necro alone. With the help of the oath of oblivion Delph asked her and Petra to take back in the third novel that gives her a second chance if she dies, she is able to defeat Necro.
''A little girl and her companion cat, lost in nowhere, trying to overcome obstacles to find a way out of this mysterious abstract realm using their power to control time.''
When a child awakes in the middle of a mysterious facility full of hostile robots, she begins looking for a quick exit. Along the way, the innocent girl discovers she has precognitive powers that allow her to explore future timelines until she discovers the optimal route to safety.
The game's story is told in a pantomime style with no voice acting. Much of the game's story is hinted at through symbols displayed along the bridge in each chapter. The end of the game shows the characters waking up in bed in a scene similar to the room when they first woke up in. Additionally, in the endgame expansion, the character walks out of the laboratory room and meets an orange-haired boy who resembles the cat encountered in the game.
''Vanguard''
The multiplayer mode's seasonal story takes place after the campaign, across multiple eras, and features Captain Carver Butcher (Ron Bottitta), the founder of Task Force Vanguard, leading other special forces teams on covert missions to take down global Nazi operations. The final season of ''Vanguard'', which is not canon to the seasonal story, features several villains from previous ''Call of Duty'' titles as playable characters: Raul Menendez (Kamar de los Reyes) from ''Black Ops II'' and ''Black Ops 4'', Khaled Al-Asad from ''Modern Warfare (2019)'', He "Seraph" Zhen-Zhen (Judy Alice Lee) from ''Black Ops III'' and ''Black Ops 4'', and Gabriel Rorke (Kevin Gage) from ''Ghosts''.
The Zombies story takes place in early 1944, and depicts a team of Special Forces operators being drafted into a battle against an undead army, led by Oberführer Wolfram Von List (Kaiser Johnson), commander of SS unit Die Wahrheit. Von List possesses the power to raise the dead, thanks to his symbiotic link with a Dark Aether entity named Kortifex the Deathless (Jason Marnocha). Assisting the Special Forces team is Professor Gabriel Krafft (Darin De Paul), a demonologist who was forced to work for Von List and help him uncover the Dark Aether artifacts. Krafft provides the Special Forces operators with other artifacts, which allow them to form their own symbiotic links with four other entities: Saraxis the Shadow (Alexa Kahn), Inviktor the Destroyer (Regi Davis), Norticus the Conqueror (Wally Wingert) and Bellekar the Warlock (Abby Craden). Additional Dark Aether entities later join the conflict, including Vercanna the Last (Jodi Carlisle), who allies with the Special Forces team, and Zaballa the Deceiver, Kortifex's lieutenant.
''NOTE: The campaign story of Vanguard is told throughout various points in time in a non-chronological order.''
In August 1941, 2nd Lieutenant Lucas Riggs is stationed at Tobruk, Libya as part of the Australian-led Rats of Tobruk garrison. After a failed ambush attempt against a German Afrika Korps convoy, Riggs is assigned to recover supplies for the British Army, alongside fellow Rat Private Desmond "Des" Wilmot and British Lieutenant Richard Jacobs. Riggs, Des and Jacobs manage to find intelligence relating to General Erwin Rommel, and destroy an enemy depot in the process, but they were detained by Major Henry Hamms for insubordination. In October 1942, during the Second Battle of El Alamein, Riggs and the Rats are ordered by Hamms to form a defensive line, but Riggs disobeys the command and tries to retake a hill and call in bomber support with Des supporting him. The two of them succeed, though Des is killed in action. Angered by the disregard for the Rats' contribution to the fight, Riggs punches Hamms out of frustration, resulting in him facing prison time.
In June 1942, United States Navy pilot Lieutenant Wade Jackson participates in the Battle of Midway with his tail gunner, Aviation Machinist's Mate Mateo Hernandez. In November 1943, while assaulting the Imperial Japanese Army in Bougainville, Jackson and Hernandez's plane is shot down, and the two are captured by IJA soldiers. They are rescued by the 93rd Infantry Division, who later help them acquire an Imperial Japanese Navy Aichi D3A to assist the division in reclaiming the island.
In August 1942, Red Army nurse Polina Petrova witnesses the Germans invade Stalingrad. She fails to save her father Boris from being executed by enemy troops, but is able to escape with her brother Misha and several Soviet partisans. Petrova eventually acquires the nickname "Lady Nightingale" as she pursues Leo Steiner, the Wehrmacht commander responsible for the invasion. In January 1943, Petrova and Misha attempt to assassinate Steiner in Stalingrad, but Misha is severely wounded. He sacrifices himself to buy Petrova time to escape. Petrova eventually confronts Steiner and kills him and his personal army, inspiring the citizens of Stalingrad to reclaim the city from the Nazis. She then sets her sight on Steiner's superior, Hermann Freisinger.
In June 1944, British paratrooper Sergeant Arthur Kingsley takes part in Operation Tonga, where he and the Parachute Regiment help destroy the Merville Gun Battery and several other bridges to assist the Allied forces in invading Normandy. Kingsley befriends fellow paratrooper Sergeant Richard Webb, who would later become Kingsley's right-hand man.
Kingsley, Webb, Petrova, Jackson and Riggs, alongside a sixth soldier named Milos Novak, would eventually be recruited by Captain Carver Butcher to form the first special operations task force, callsign Vanguard. Kingsley is appointed as the leader of the task force. In April 1945, Task Force Vanguard hijacks a train to Hamburg, Germany, in search of intelligence regarding Project Phoenix, a secret Nazi program run by Freisinger. While infiltrating a Kriegsmarine submarine, the squad is captured by Freisinger's men, minus Jackson who evaded them, and Novak who is bludgeoned to death by Freisinger. Vanguard is delivered to the Gestapo headquarters in Berlin, where Freisinger appoints Schutzstaffel officer Jannick Richter to interrogate them. Jackson is also later captured after attempting to steal a plane at the Berlin Tempelhof Airport; Richter demoralizes the squad by executing Webb.
Being unaware of Project Phoenix's purpose and Freisinger's involvement, Richter attempts to learn more by interrogating Petrova and Riggs about Steiner and Rommel's connection to Freisinger. He deduces that the project was a coup attempt, in order to appoint Freisinger as the new Führer of the Fourth Reich. As Berlin falls under siege by the Red Army following Adolf Hitler's suicide, Riggs breaks out of interrogation and frees the squad, while Kingsley kills Richter to avenge Webb. Vanguard pursues Freisinger to Tempelhof, where they finally apprehend him and burn him alive. The four then board Freisinger's Luftwaffe plane, discovering numerous German documents and assets, revealing global Nazi covert operations. Kingsley decides to follow up on Project Aggregat, a secret V2 rocket facility, and orders Jackson to fly there in pursuit.
In December 1944, Captain Butcher begins to oversee Operation Vulcan, a top-secret Special Operations Executive mission to hunt down Axis soldiers and scientists who fled to the South Pacific. Butcher deploys with Task Force Trident to Caldera Island in pursuit of Nazi activities, but their plane is shot down by anti-air, leaving the three Trident members stranded from Butcher. As the task force attempts to navigate the island, Butcher stumbles upon the entrance to a Nazi bunker at the beach where he crash-landed. The intel recovered from Caldera reveals that the Nazis were working on a new chemical weapon, dubbed "Nebula V". Butcher travels to the Swiss Alps with Task Force Yeti, intending to recover Nebula V from a nearby Nazi fortress. The Yeti members storm the fortress, but are unable to stop the Nazi commander from releasing the Nebula V gas. They barely manage to escape as the gas engulfs the fortress.
The Nazis begin to deploy Nebula V across the world, hitting major cities such as Paris and London, as well as Caldera. In March 1951, Butcher dispatches Task Force Harpy to Caldera to intercept a Nazi arms convoy, where they find a radio emitting a mysterious primal sound. Butcher laments that the release of Nebula V has awakened something powerful near Caldera. The island would eventually become a battleground between two gigantic monsters, the kaiju Godzilla and the gorilla Kong.
As the years go by, the operators under Butcher's command begin to take up mercenary work, in pursuit of Nazi gold and other sources of wealth. By 1976 Butcher leads his own squad, Task Force Immortal, to investigate the crash site of a helicopter carrying a gold shipment, but is met with hostility from Kingsley, who has formed his own mercenary team comprising members of other task forces.
In March 1944, following the activation of the cyclotron in Projekt Endstation by the Nazis in Morasko, Poland, various ancient artifacts recovered by the SS unit Die Wahrheit are activated, allowing several entities from the Dark Aether dimension to reach out to the real world. One such entity, Kortifex the Deathless, forms a symbiotic bond with Oberführer Wolfram Von List, Die Wahrheit's commander, and bestows him the power to resurrect the dead. A team of Special Forces operators responds to an emergency broadcast from Professor Gabriel Krafft, a demonologist forced to work for Von List, and is drafted into a new battle against Von List and Kortifex's undead army. Krafft assists the operators in battling the undead, by also supplying them with Dark Aether artifacts which allow them to form bonds with four other Dark Aether entities: Saraxis the Shadow, Inviktor the Destroyer, Norticus the Conqueror and Bellekar the Warlock, all of whom wish to thwart Kortifex's plan.
The Special Forces operators eventually discover a Dark Aether portal in Von List's office in Stalingrad, where they find a sealed page from the Tome of Rituals, an ancient spell book that was used to summon the Dark Aether entities. While the four allied entities devise a plan to recover the missing page, they also learn that another entity, Vercanna the Last, has responded to Bellekar's call for help, and is willing to join the fight against Kortifex. Using a portal opened by Vercanna, the operators travel to Egypt, where they continue their fight against Von List's forces and attempt to recover the sealed Tome page. Kortifex sends one of his underlings, Zaballa the Deceiver, to stop the operators from completing their mission. Vercanna guides the operators in recovering the Decimator Shield, a living weapon once belonged to a warrior of Kortifex's Night Legions. Using the shield, they destroy energy orbs chained to the missing Tome page in the Void, allowing them to recover it. Both Krafft and Bellekar conclude that the missing page may have clues as to how they can separate Kortifex's artifact from Von List, severing their connection.
The Special Forces operators travel to "Shi No Numa" (''lit. translation: Swamp of Death''), a Die Wahrheit excavation site where Saraxis's artifact was first discovered. The team learns from Krafft that a relic located here was used to sever Saraxis from her original human host, which they need in order to do the same to Kortifex and Von List. Saraxis, however, has forgotten her earlier memories of the relic, and is unable to help them. Vercanna instructs the team to power up an ancient monolith, which reveals an echo of Saraxis's past. The echo reveals that the relic was a mirror, broken into two pieces. The operators recover the mirror pieces and put them back together. The echo is summoned once more, this time taking the shape of Saraxis. The echo lashes out at Saraxis, revealing that she was once Kortifex's consort; however she was punished by the former for bearing his child, having her memories wiped and herself turned into his servant. The echo attempts to kill the Special Forces team, but fails. As the mirror is fully restored, Saraxis's memories return, making her remember Kortifex's final endgame: to seize control of an object called "the Construct".
Yavuz (Ercan Kesal) teaches music at municipal courses in Istanbul. After his father's death he has to go to Yozgat, a small provincial town. Nese (Ayça Damgacı) joins him on this trip.
The play is composed of 8 scenes. It tells the story of a humanoid robot, who encounters 8 other characters and engages into various typically human situations and activities, related to death, love, sex, violence, etc. The individual scenes are not tightly linked, but there are some linking points, such as the central character of the robot or some repeated and developing themes, such as the robot's search for love.
The scenes often contain some absurd turns and it is often hard to find sense in them. It is therefore a very complicated piece interpretationally, requiring the director and the actors to invest a lot of effort and creativity in finding a meaningful interpretation which would not deviate from the script. In the interpretation by Švanda theatre, who premiered the play and who also participated on the creation of the script, the scenes typically contain non-verbally expressed content which can add a lot to the meaning of the scene compared to what is contained in the actual script (as the script only contains the lines said by the characters).
The play opens by the Robot parting with his dying Master. The Master gives the Robot several last lessons and talks with him about death, soul, and love.
In the second scene, the Robot meets a sad and angry Boy, who complains that he wants to go to school, that his girlfriend is crazy, that he wants to buy a car, etc. The Robot tries to help the Boy by giving him advice, but the Boy's reactions are quite negative and irritated. The Boy then repeatedly asks the Robot to tell him a joke; the Robot keeps refusing, but ultimately tells the following joke: ''When you are dead. When your children are dead. When your grandchildren are dead, I will be still alive.''
The Robot wants to feel pleasure, so he goes to a "night club" (a brothel), where he meets a "Masseuse" (a prostitute). The Robot is initially "a bit cold", but eventually manages to enjoy the experience and falls in love with the Masseuse.
In the Švanda theatre performance, the Robot and the Masseuse seem to have a sort of virtual sex without touching each other, reminiscent of the sex scene in Demolition Man.
It is the night. The Robot is standing under a lamp, unable to move away from the light as he finds that he is afraid of the dark. He meets a Stranger, an engineer who tells him that robots don't have feelings and that people cannot be trusted, and keeps hurting him.
In the Švanda theatre performance, the Man repeatedly zaps the Robot with some kind of electric pulse.
A Man approaches the Robot and repeatedly asks him to kill him. Instead, the Robot sticks a finger into the Man's anus, which leads to an argument between the Man and the Robot.
The Robot meets a Psychologist, who keeps asking him lots of questions regarding his life, burnout feeling, love, relationships, and emotions. They also talk about the Robot using a device called ''emotion machine'' which helps him to get rid of stress.
The Robot comes to an employment agency. He meets an Administrator and asks her to help him find a job. He expresses the wish to become an actor, and talks about his experience as a clown. He reveals his name to be Troy McClure, which is a character from ''The Simpsons'' who is an actor.
In the Švanda theatre performance, the Administrator starts to seduce the Robot once his name is revealed, which he keeps ignoring; the Administrator then becomes irritated.
The Robot meets a human Actress in a robotic costume and falls in love with her immediately. The Actress is first reluctant, but the Robot manages to seduce her and she also falls in love with him. The Robot tells her about a ''binary world'', in which he lives and where he will also take her. Ultimately, the Actress agrees, and the whole play concludes by the Robot and the Actress promising each to other to always be together.
In the Švanda theatre performance, the Robot does not have a physical body in this scene, we can only hear his voice and see a pulsating light (based on the line in the script where the Robot says: "I have no body. So I don’t need to wear clothes. You can’t see me, you only hear me."), and the Actress eventually also agrees to loose her physical body so that she can be with the Robot forever.

Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) visits a wounded Boyd (Walton Goggins) in a prison hospital, with the latter thanking him for "opening his soul in the eyes of God". Raylan then escorts Dewey Crowe (Damon Herriman) out of the hospital, intending to take him to prison despite having no back-up team to help him. He forces Crowe to drive the car and handcuffs him to the steering wheel when he tries to attack him.
Meanwhile, prison officials transport inmates to a prison musical band event. After a performance, two inmates, Cooper (Chris Ellis) and Price (Myk Watford) knock their guard out and escape. Mullen (Nick Searcy) assigns Raylan to investigate the escape after he takes Crowe to prison. Raylan finds the inmates at a grocery store on a gas station. However, Cooper gets the best of him and steals his badge, guns, hat and car and then locks Raylan in a closet while they escape. The next day, Mullen informs Raylan that they found his car near the airport along with his hat and Price has been captured. Mullen also tells Raylan that Assistant United States Attorney David Vasquez wants to question him about Boyd's shooting due to the previous Miami shooting and wants Ava (Joelle Carter) to testify.
Winona (Natalie Zea) confronts Raylan after he broke in their house, accusing him of scaring her husband, and tells him to never contact them again. Raylan and Tim Gutterson (Jacob Pitts) then question Cooper's ex-wife, Shirley Kelso (Kristin Bauer), who now lives with her cousin Dupree (Johnny Sneed). They leave after receiving no vital information. However, Cooper unexpectedly shows up at Shirley's house and deduces that Shirley and Dupree are in a sexual relationship. They are looking for money Cooper hid in the flooring of development housing during construction and Cooper accepts to help them for a share of the money. They arrive at an abandoned house but discover that the money is not there. Dupree then shoots Cooper and both him and Shirley abandon him to find the real location.
While staying with Ava in a hotel room, Raylan has a hunch about the real location of the money and leaves with Rachel (Erica Tazel) to find it. They run across a wounded Cooper and discover that Cooper mistook the real location and set to go there. However, Shirley and Dupree already arrived there and took the home owners hostage after realizing that they already spent the money. Dupree threatens to kill Raylan but Gutterson kills him from the distance after Shirley betrays his orders, feeling guilty about shooting her husband. One week later, Raylan takes Cooper out of the prison hospital to take him to prison. During their walk, they talk about the recent events, with Cooper remarking that maybe Shirley and him will be released at the same time.
Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) is told by Mullen (Nick Searcy) that his father Arlo has been arrested in Harlan County for driving under the influence although Raylan does not give it importance. Under the office's instructions, Raylan meets with local informant Arnold Pinter (David Eigenberg), who also works as a fixer for reporters. Pinter gives them information to raid and arrest a local criminal.
Curtis Mims (Page Kennedy), Pinter's collector, is sent by Pinter to collect a $18,000 debt from Travis Travers (Greg Cromer). Curtis threatens Travers to pay within two days but Travis convinces him to work together for a higher price. When Raylan visits the bar which Pinter frequents to give him his reward, he finds that he is not there and has been missing for hours. Raylan then visits his home, where he runs into Travis, who gets his way out of trouble. Travis returns to his parents' house where he meets with Curtis and is revealed that they have Pinter kidnapped along with his friend and bar waitress Samantha (Erin Cardillo).
Despite their attempts to remain anonymous, Pinter easily deduces that Curtis and Travis are the kidnappers and also reveals that he knows that Samantha is working with them to make him talk. To complicate things, Raylan has arrived at the house to question Travis. Curtis talks with Travis and finds that there was a $10,000 reward for Pinter and offers to hand it over to him. Raylan leaves for the money while Curtis mentions the reward to Travis and Samantha, but lies saying that it is a $5,000 reward in order to have more for himself. Later, Travis kills Curtis in a gunfight, intending to have a bigger share of the reward. This event causes Samantha to decide to release Pinter.
Raylan arrives at the house with the "reward", and Travis tries to kill him with a hidden gun. This starts a shootout in the house, and during the chaos, Pinter accidentally shoots Raylan in the chest although Raylan survives thanks to his bulletproof vest. Noticing that Travis hides behind a door, Raylan shoots through it, killing him. In the aftermath, Pinter is given his reward and Raylan receives a week's paid leave, which Mullen jokes will be more peaceful for him. To Raylan's surprise, Pinter decides not to incriminate Samantha in the events. That night, Raylan visits Ava (Joelle Carter) at her house and after a talk, they share a kiss.
