''The Girl Who Smiled Beads'' begins in Rwanda during the Rwandan Civil War, when Wamariya was six years old. Alongside her sister Claire, Wamariya fled Rwanda, spending the next six years traveling through seven African countries as refugees. In 2000, the Wamariya sisters were granted asylum in the United States, and they landed in Chicago, unsettled. Barbie Roberts dreams of being a Broadway star, so she enrolls in a summer program at a prestigious performing Handler Arts Academy in New York City. Her family and friends back home in Malibu wish her well as she arrives at the academy. As Barbie struggles with her luggage, she gets helped by a flexible female student who is from Brooklyn. The academy's custodian informs them that they have showed up a day early, and tells them where the dormitory rooms are.
When Barbie and the girl from Brooklyn find a door with the name "''Barbie Roberts''" on it, they discover that they have the same name and will be roommates. They give themselves nicknames based on their location to avert future confusions with the two, respectively Malibu and Brooklyn. They bond over their love for music and become fast friends as they hang out and explore New York City.
On the subway, "Malibu" Barbie sees a poster of a popstar named Emmie and is a big fan, but "Brooklyn" Barbie says Emmie is an old childhood friend that she hasn't seen in a long time. The two "Barbie"-named girls then made a pact to not let stardom ruin their friendship. Meanwhile, at the Handler Arts Academy, Emmie appears in disguise so she can be treated like a normal student. Dean Morrison announces that the annual Spotlight Solo will be livestreamed from Times Square. Malibu and Brooklyn meet a costume student named Rafael (who wants to be known simply as ''Rafa'') and his dog Gato. He gives them sequinned dresses that are supposed to sparkle, but the remote control he uses to light up the dresses malfunctions.
During her first week at the academy, "Malibu" Barbie struggles in all of her classes. Ken calls her to ask how she's doing, but she has mixed feelings. Later, the "Barbie"-named girls and Rafa discover that Emmie is attending the school in disguise. When they confronted her, Emmie explains that she lost contact with "Brooklyn" Barbie because of her strict manager-father. With this, Emmie and "Brooklyn" Barbie rekindle their friendship. The "Barbie"-named girls and Rafa then sworn to keep Emmie's disguise a secret.
The "Barbie"-named girls go to Central Park and donned on the dresses Rafa gave them. "Brooklyn" Barbie tells "Malibu" Barbie that her mother is a pilot and her father is worried about her. "Malibu" Barbie can relate because her father is also uneasy about her being in NYC. They take photos to send to their fathers, then dance and twirl in front of a fountain, making their dresses sparkle. Later, Emmie's father, Mr. Miller, comes to Handler Arts Academy to observe the students. He wants Emmie to have the Spotlight Solo, even though Emmie just wants to learn. Rafa records the class as Mr. Miller observes. While Malibu is dancing, she accidentally knocks "Brooklyn" Barbie into an orchestra pit. "Brooklyn" Barbie lands on a percussionist's drum and sprains her ankle.
"Malibu" Barbie feels guilty about the accident, but she and her friends keep a positive attitude and share their struggles. According to a witness, Dean Morrison calls "Malibu" Barbie into a meeting and expels her from the academy for sabotaging "Brooklyn" Barbie, who would later be called by the dean to explain her expulsion. The two "Barbie"-named girls confront each other, break up their friendship and lament over it. Rafa and Emmie discover that Mr. Miller is behind the hullabaloo, leading the latter to confront her father, with Rafa forwarding his recorded class video to "Brooklyn" Barbie, who in turn shows it to Dean Morrison.
"Malibu" Barbie goes back home to California devastated about the thought of "Brooklyn" Barbie sabotaging her. With the truth and guilt feeling dawned on her after seeing it all for herself, Barbie decides to give up music. However, "Brooklyn" Barbie and her mother follows her home route to California so that the former can apologize to "Malibu" Barbie and bring her back to the academy. They reconciled and when they return to the academy, they find out they had obtained the Spotlight Solo. On the big night, the MC Emmie reveals her identity during the livestream and introduces the "Barbie"-named girls, who appear in their now-lit-up sequinned outfits Rafa gave them earlier and perform a song about their friendship journey (known as "See You at the Finish Line") while their family and friends watch live in Times Square. After their performance, the "Barbie"-named girls held each other's opposite hand high to signal their unison whiles fireworks go off above the Times Square's skyscrapers.

This leads to the mischievous and cynical Monokuma, who was also invited to the program, to steal one of the wands and summon a hoard of enemies. Together, the participants manage to defeat some of the monsters, finding out in the process that their bodies have been powered-up for the virtual world. Although the Monokubs manage to get the wand back from Monokuma, the island is still overrun by monsters, which the participants are tasked with defeating over the course of the summer. During a conversation, Gus confesses that he has "an eye for the lads" but never acted on his urges. Meanwhile, Charlie and Shelley visit a cemetery with the family's gravestones, although Shelley states that their bodies were never buried. Their bodies were thrown from a cliff into the sea, as they believed that the person's soul could be released. Shelley wants the tradition to continue on the Kelly family, even advising Charlie that if he finds a "gruesome woman covered in filth with long stingy hair who is horribly shrieking in the nigh", it means that the end is near.
While searching for the peat moss, Dee poses for selfies when she finds herself stuck in the bog and is starting to sink. The Waitress (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) passes by the bog and Dee asks for help. The Waitress agrees to help her, but only if she can say her name, which Dee is not able to do. In the church, Mac decides to join the seminary but changes his mind when he learns what Gus really meant by saying he had "an eye for the lads". At the castle, Frank invites Charlie and Shelley for dinner. However, Charlie quickly deduces that Frank replaced meatballs for feces intended for Shelley and forces him to eat it, which Frank fails to swallow. Frank expresses his frustration but Charlie states that he won't return to Philadelphia and wants to work with his father on his shop.
Back at the bog at night, Dee has nearly sunk in the bog (even though the Waitress claims she guessed her name a while back) and the Waitress decides to finally save her. However, Dee pulls her in the bog and releases herself, leaving the Waitress stuck in the bog while she hurries for her date. The film begins with the young Princess Margrete of Denmark witnessing the horrific bloodshed following the victory of her father, King Valdemar IV Atterdag, at the 1361 Battle of Visby.
Forty years later, and Margrete, now queen, has successfully united Denmark, Norway and Sweden under her rule, thereby founding the Kalmar Union and bringing a decade of peace to a region hitherto wracked by constant warfare. However, she does not exercise power in her own right but on behalf of her adopted son Erik of Pomerania, whom she has had crowned king in each of the three kingdoms, and even though he is now of age she continues to rule in his name, aided by her friend and advisor Peder Jensen Lodehat, the Bishop of Roskilde.
In 1402, Margrete summons the leading magnates of the three kingdoms to Kalmar Castle to witness Erik's betrothal to Philippa of England, the daughter of King Henry IV of England. Philippa is accompanied by an English lord, William Bourcier, who has been tasked with negotiating the financial and political terms of the marriage agreement. Margrete is especially keen to establish a strong military alliance with England in order to deter attacks by the Union's German enemies, in particular the Teutonic Order, which rules Prussia and has also recently seized the Swedish island of Gotland.
During the feast to welcome the English party to Kalmar, the Norwegian magnate Asle Jonsson tells Margrete that ''en route'' to Kalmar he met a man who had come from Graudenz (in Prussia) and claims to be Oluf, Margrete's son. Oluf had as a child been king of both Denmark and Norway, but had died suddenly at Falsterbo fifteen years previously (i.e. in 1387). At the time he had been seventeen years old, just about to come of age and take over rule of the two kingdoms from his mother, and ever since the queen's enemies have spread dark rumours that she had him murdered in order to retain power herself. Margrete assures Asle that her son is dead, but he insists that he recognises the man as Oluf. This incendiary news quickly spreads, and so Margrete orders Asle to bring the man to Kalmar so that the matter can be put to rest. Meanwhile, Margrete grows suspicious of Raberlin, a German merchant present at the feast, and orders her Swedish retainer Jakob Nilsson to follow him when he returns to Prussia.
The Man from Graudenz is brought to Kalmar and publicly interrogated by Margrete. He repeats his claim that he is King Oluf, and explains that in 1387 one of his retainers was ordered to kill him by persons unknown. The assassin could not bring himself to go through with the deed, and so instead kidnapped him and took him to Prussia, where he has been held captive by the Teutonic Order for the last fifteen years. A few weeks ago he was suddenly released without explanation, and he has subsequently made his way back to Scandinavia to reclaim his rightful inheritance. The Danish & Swedish councillors are sceptical of this story, but their Norwegian counterparts are more willing to believe it (as Oluf's father was the previous Norwegian king, Håkon VI), and several of them, like Asle, claim to recognise the Man from Graudenz as Oluf. Margrete orders him to be confined to the dungeons while she decides what to do with him.
Over the following days, Margrete finds herself faced with a horrible dilemma. Erik - who would lose his legitimacy if the prisoner is recognised as Oluf - becomes increasingly agitated and unstable, while Bishop Peder urges her to have the Man from Graudenz executed immediately in order to prevent discord between the three realms, and Bourcier threatens to break off negotiations and return to England with Philippa unless the question of Erik's status is resolved quickly. On the other hand, Asle Jonsson and the Norwegian councillors are adamant that the Man from Graudenz ''is'' Oluf, and the more Margrete speaks to him the more she starts to wonder if he really is her son. A further element of doubt is introduced when she discovers that none of her councillors saw Oluf's corpse after his supposed death, as they were all too afraid of infection from the plague to open his coffin.
In an effort to make the decision easier for herself, Margrete proposes that if the Man from Graudenz publicly denies that he is Oluf, then she will spare his life. However, he stubbornly refuses to do so, and moreover Bishop Peder points out that even if the pretender were to renounce his claims, he will still be a threat to Erik, and to Scandinavian unity, as long as he remains alive.
Margrete eventually has a flash of inspiration and realises that the Man from Graudenz's story about an attempt on his life might be the root of the rumours that she had her son killed. She never gave any such order, and there is only one other person who would have had the authority to do so in her stead. She confronts Peder, who admits that he ordered Oluf's retainer to murder him and explains that he acted for the greater good, as Oluf would never have been an acceptable ruler for the Swedes in the way Margrete has been. It was therefore necessary to get rid of Oluf so that Margrete could retain power in Denmark-Norway and then take control of Sweden as well, thereby completing the Kalmar Union and finally bringing peace to Scandinavia.
Margrete is now convinced that the Man from Graudenz is indeed her son Oluf, but before she can act on this, Erik produces a witness to falsely confess to teaching the Man from Graudenz how to impersonate Oluf. Having thus 'proved' that Oluf is an impostor, Erik sentences him to death for treason. Margrete and the Norwegian magnates protest, but the Danish and Swedish magnates back Erik, as do the bishops, led by Peder.
That evening Margrete has Asle spring Oluf from his prison cell, intending that the three of them will escape together to Bergen, though she realises that this will probably lead to war between Norway and Denmark-Sweden. However, just as Margrete is about to slip out of the castle to rendezvous with Oluf and Asle, Jakob Nilsson arrives to see her, newly returned from his escapade in Prussia. He has learnt that the Teutonic Order is planning an invasion of mainland Sweden, and that the Order deliberately timed the release of Oluf in order to cause maximum discord amongst the Scandinavian kingdoms (and to wreck the mooted alliance with England), and thereby leave the Kalmar Union vulnerable. Realising that Scandinavian unity is more important in the face of the Teutonic threat than her personal feelings, Margrete betrays Oluf, who is quickly recaptured by Erik's men. Margrete manages to persuade Erik to spare Asle, but Oluf is publicly burned alive as a traitor in front of his mother. It is implied that, with Scandinavian unity restored, the Teutonic Order calls off its planned invasion.
The film ends with a brief text stating that the Kalmar Union lasted for a further century after Margrete's death, and claiming that the close affinity that exists to this day between the three Scandinavian nations is in large part thanks to her.

Gustave Eiffel looks over Paris from the tower that he has conceived, designed, and delivered. He casts his mind back to when he was supervising the building of an iron bridge over the River Garonne at the town of Bordeaux. One of his workmen fell into the dangerously turbulent waters of the river. Unhesitatingly, he dived in and rescued the man. By chance driving by, Adrienne Bourgès, then unknown to Eiffel, saw the rescue. To prevent further such accidents, Eiffel asked a wealthy local bourgeois, who by chance happened to be Adrienne's father, for wood for safety scaffolding. Bourgès invited him to lunch, where he sat with many others including Adrienne, who pretended that she hadn't seen the rescue, but still indicated that she admired him. She spoke up to her father to support Eiffel's request for wood for scaffolding. He was struck to the heart by her beauty, dash, and grace. As he left, she invited him to her coming birthday party. At the last moment, she confessed that she had seen the rescue.
Threaded through the film are more memories. As Eiffel designs the Tour, he recalls the birthday party, at which they played musical chairs, and Eiffel and Adrienne smiled at each other. When she saw him alone, as a birthday present, he gave her a copy of an old book on the art of building metal bridges. She told him that she recognised his individuality, and suddenly kissed him on the cheek. Surprised, he withdrew as she rejoined the many at the party.
Another time during the building of the bridge over the Garonne, one evening, she went walking around the works and they encountered each other. He invited her into his office or quarters. He told her that she was charming, but still a spoiled child, just toying with him. She walked out in dudgeon. He soon called after her, but she kept walking and deliberately fell backwards into the river. He ran and jumped in to rescue her. They were wet and cold. He lit the stove in his office, put a blanket on her, and they held each other to get warm. Then they kissed closely, and again. And more closely.
Soon their passion grew. They thought of marriage. These memories perhaps sustain Eiffel through the vicissitudes of his delivery of the Tour. Suddenly, Adrienne went away from home. Her father told Eiffel that she had been stringing him along, and no longer wanted to marry him. Eiffel didn't believe him, and seized him by his coat lapels. Bourgès threw Eiffel to the ground and drove off. Eiffel picked himself up and resolved to wait for Adrienne. Her mother and father told her she couldn't marry Eiffel because he wasn't good enough for her. She replied that she was expecting his baby. She ran out of the house, chased by her father. Finding the gates closed, she climbed up to go over them, but fell on one of their points, and sustained a penetrating abdominal wound.
These memories also come up when Adrienne and Eiffel meet during the construction of the Tour, and Eiffel sees the scar from the old injury; they recall their youthful passion. The embryo was lost, and Adrienne was still wounded, when she married Antoine de Restac. For this reason, and for the sake of Eiffel's reputation and the Tour, Adrienne stays with her husband and renounces Eiffel, who thereupon orders the construction to be completed with rivets instead of bolts, so that the Tour can never be torn down.
''Triage'' follows Orbinski on retrospective visits to Baidoa and Kigali, where he led Médecins Sans Frontières' humanitarian medical responses to the Somali Civil War in 1993 and the Rwanda genocide in 1994.
The central theme in the documentary is that of triage: the challenges faced in deciding who gets medical care and who does not.
Interviews with Orbinski touch upon the personal risks he faced, but focus more on the wider politics of humanitarian action and the need for relief agencies to operate with independence from political forces. The tension between the humanitarian organizations trying to keep political distance from the United Nations peacekeeping forces that they rely upon for safety is a central theme.
The film starts as an adaptation of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears": a young girl enters the bears house, eat their porridge and sleeps in the bed of the bear cub. When the bears come home and discover her, she jumps out of the window and runs away with one of the bear cub's teddy bears. The bears chase Goldilocks across a snowy landscape until a hunter looking like "Teddy" Roosevelt intervenes, kills the two full-grown pursuers and captures the bear cub. The hunter and the girl then go back to the bears' house where they steal the remaining teddy bears.Charles Musser, ''Before the Nickelodeon. Edwin S. Porter and the Edison Manufacturing Company'', University of California Press, 1991, p.349

At the height of the Korean War, writer Atsuko Oda, a survivor of the bombing of Hiroshima, suffers from anxiety states, fueled by her memories and the possible threat of a nuclear war. Her condition also manifests itself in insomnia, against which she injects herself repeated doses of antihistamines. Hospital physician Dr. Fukuda advises her to undergo a deep sleep therapy, so Atsuko moves into the hospital's mental ward. She reminisces her Hiroshima experiences, her campaigning against nuclear weapons, and her housemaid Takeno's offer to commit suicide together, which Atsuko rejects, as she does the option to leave her home country.
Atsuko enters a sixteen-day-long deep sleep period; upon awakening, she suffers from hallucinations while at the same time witnessing the sometimes inattentive or even abusive treatment of her fellow patients by the nurses. She learns from Dr. Fusuda that Takeno, who is a devoted follower of the Reiyūkai sect, attempted suicide and is being looked after by a friend of Atsuko. The story closes with Atsuko and a young nurse, whom she finds sympathetic, taking a night walk in the hospital's green area and watching the full September moon.
Dexter (Michael C. Hall) has been kidnapped by Elric Kane (Shuler Hensley) and is being driven to meet with Kurt (Clancy Brown). Dexter uses his cuffs to attack Kane and cause the car to crash, causing Dexter to be ejected through the windshield. Kane then starts shooting at Dexter with a rifle, hitting him in the leg and prompting him to flee into the woods.
While talking with Angela (Julia Jones), Logan (Alano Miller) accidentally mentions that Dexter attacked a dealer outside a bar for supplying drugs to his son. She questions the dealer, Miles, who states that Dexter asked him for drugs, injected him with a needle and then punched him when the police arrived. She also learns from Logan that Miles' supplier, Jasper Hodge, was found dead in his apartment and due to the time coincidences, she starts suspecting Dexter. Meanwhile, Harrison (Jack Alcott) is picked up by Kurt and they visit the high school, where Kurt shows him Matt's trophies in multiple sports. He then teaches Harrison to hit a baseball, although he uses a machine to also hit him, causing Harrison to angrily remember all of his confrontations with his father.
Back in the woods, Dexter lays a false trail to mislead Kane while he escapes via a different route, leaving a confused Kane to look for him through the forest. Dexter finally makes his way to a closed summer camp, where he finds many instruments in the kitchen. As night falls, Kane finds the camp and is attacked by Dexter with a kitchen knife. Kane claims that he planned on taking him to Kurt's cabin and that it wasn't anything personal, but Dexter still kills him with a knife before leaving the scene in Kane's truck. Meanwhile, Angela investigates Jasper's death and finds another sign of a needle being injected in his neck, making her realize that Dexter was also involved there.
At the cabin, Harrison starts receiving text messages from Dexter to get out but decides to ignore it. He then dines with Kurt, with both bonding over their respective personalities. Harrison also reveals that he went looking for his father for a "connection" and expresses frustration about his father hiding secrets from him. Kurt leaves for a moment and returns with his rifle and ski mask, stating that it is time to pay for the "sins of the father". He instructs him to run as he targets him, just as Dexter arrives in the truck. Dexter fails to run Kurt over, but his appearance prompts him to flee. Dexter reunites with Harrison, and both leave the cabin.
At her house, Angela continues investigating Miles and Jasper, as both were injected with ketamine. She decides to search homicides in Miami related to ketamine, eventually finding more about the Bay Harbor Butcher. Back in the truck, Harrison asks about what happened, and Dexter decides that it is time to tell everything. He explains that Harrison is not alone in his dark thoughts and that he will teach him a "Code" to help him. Harrison then embraces Dexter, making Dexter think that this was not only what Harrison needed, but what he himself needed.
Dexter (Michael C. Hall) explains the meaning of "The Dark Passenger" to Harrison (Jack Alcott), explaining the purpose of the Code of Harry and how it helped him channel the Passenger. He then tells the story about a time in Miami where he followed Wiggles (Michael Laurence), a party clown who killed many children. However, at Debra's (Jennifer Carpenter) insistence, he hides the fact that he kills his victims, claiming he only confronts them and scares them to stop hurting people. This relieves Harrison, who connects more with his father. Shortly thereafter, Dexter chops up Elric's body into pieces.
On Christmas Day, Dexter gifts Harrison some clothing as well as a rifle. Harrison tests the rifle on bottles, managing to hit them. Dexter reveals that Kurt (Clancy Brown) was after Harrison because he confronted him, revealing Kurt's real persona as a serial killer. Harrison can't testify against Kurt because it would implicate Dexter at the scene. They then leave to meet with Angela (Julia Jones) and Audrey (Johnny Sequoyah). Unaware to Dexter, Angela has been investigating the Bay Harbor Butcher, finding a pattern between his victims and the drug dealer's death. Their reunion is interrupted when Kurt shows up with a gift for Angela and has a conversation with both Dexter and Harrison, who hide their encounter with him from Angela and Audrey. After he leaves, they decide to investigate his cabin to find any crucial evidence.
While investigating, Harrison confesses that he indeed injured Ethan at school and apologizes for his behavior. He also questions again about Wiggles' fate, deeming that just scaring him wouldn't be "justice". He also states that he has dreamed about hunting Trinity Killer and killing him with his own razor. Although tempted to reveal his true nature, Dexter is persuaded by Debra not to say anything. Having found the place where Kurt may hide his victims' remains, they decide to investigate later that night to avoid suspicion. While they are gone, Kurt sets fire to their cabin, intending to shoot them when they leave, but is shocked to see they are not in the cabin.
At Kurt's cabin, they find a bunker outside and they descend to access it. The security system alerts Kurt of their presence, panicking him. Dexter and Harrison find to their horror a hallway where Kurt keeps his dead victims embalmed and displayed in crates, including Lily and Molly (Jamie Chung). Harrison once again questions Dexter if he killed Wiggles and despite Deb imploring him not to do it, Dexter confirms it as well as admitting to killing Trinity and many other killers. Meanwhile, Angela investigates Molly's vacated hotel room and finds her recorder in the safe, deducing she would never leave it behind.
Knowing he will soon be caught, Kurt starts packing his belongings at his house, preparing to flee. He is then confronted by Harrison, distracting him so that Dexter can sedate him. They take him to his bunker, wrapping him in plastic on his embalming table. Kurt excuses his actions, explaining that he gave these women a salvation from his father although he was angry that they always wanted to leave. He also mentions that he tried to kill Harrison because Dexter killed Matt, although Dexter states that Matt fit the code for the boat accident. With Harrison as witness, Dexter kills Kurt and starts chopping up his body. As the blood reminds him of his mother's death, Harrison steps outside while Dexter finishes chopping up the body.
Dexter and Harrison discard the body bags at the foundry, noting that Kurt's behavior and trying to flee will serve as a good cover for them. They return to their cabin the next morning and are shocked to find it burned to the ground. Angela questions Dexter about his whereabouts, but Audrey allows them to stay with them for a time. At her house, Angela receives a note in an envelope, which states "Jim Lindsay killed Matt Caldwell" as well as leaving titanium screws. She then stares at Dexter, in suspicion.

Journalist Amir Valle conducted a ten-year investigation to write this essay on prostitution in Cuba. He collected testimonies from hundreds of Cubans: "prostitutes, pimps, dishonest policemen, hoteliers, taxi drivers, brothels, drug traffickers...".
In the chapter entitled ''The Island of Delights'', the author reviews the history of prostitution in Cuba. There he cites his sources such as the work of the Cuban historian Fernando Ortiz Fernández, ecclesiastical documents, studies by Roland H. Wright. He also evokes the deportation of black slaves to the "brothel of America" when Cuba becomes the playground of its neighbor the United States.
After the Cuban Revolution of 1959, the communist regime of Fidel Castro prohibited prostitution, this practice was officially eradicated with the commitment of the president of the Federation of Cuban Women, Vilma Espín, Raúl Castro's wife. But prostitution continues and the authorities tolerate it. It unfolds without control in "a world at night, dark, sinister, sordid, which only obeys its own laws and seems to celebrate a cult of the Marquis de Sade." Amir Valle describes the hidden face of Cuban prostitution: obscene practices requested by many clients, horror by some, pornographic and even eschatological acts.
The practice of prostitution has become common in Cuba. Necessity is law, all strata of the population are affected by this scourge: "workers, peasants, students, housewives." Women are forced to enjoy it, to meet the needs of their families, they live in difficult conditions, often victims of AIDS or rivalry between pimps. However, prostitutes can acquire an envied status in Cuba, earn money and allow those around them to live better. This standard of living, higher than that of university graduates, also allows access to medicines, construction materials that are not found in the usual stores, computer equipment and other vital products inaccessible to the average Cuban. Some even manage to leave Cuba with foreign clients.
After the publication of the book, Amir Valle, while traveling in Spain, was unable to return to Cuba. He settled in Germany in Berlin.

During the 1980s, near the Cape of Storms, an animal military unit called H.M.M.F. (Hydro Marine Military Force), consisting of two African cape fur seals: veteran Claggart & tech genius Switch, & a celebrity striped dolphin named Dolph, are tasked by their human superiors with trying to defuse an underwater mine. Due to a seal's color-blindness, Claggart ends up cutting the wrong wire, & the mine immediately blows up once hauled onto their ship, the Good Boy. This causes a portion of the ship to be destroyed & the ship to wrecked on a rock, while the H.M.M.F. all survive unscathed, though Claggart loses his name tags which drifts off to rest near Seal Island, an island endlessly full of seals. Over time, the now retired H.M.M.F. drift apart: Claggart stays behind on the wreck of the Good Boy, Switch goes insane & lives on his own wreck that he turns into a lab with his imaginary friend, Senior Echo (which is in fact his echo, though he sometimes speaks without Switch talking out loud), & Dolph goes into show business in his own popular superhero show titled: Dial Eck-Eck-Eck-Eck For Action.
In the present day, Claggart's name tag is found by a bold cape fur seal named Quinn & his nervous best friend Benji while hunting for fish, before they are chased off by sharks, whom their community lives in fear of, but their fear is always scoffed at by their elder leader, Brick. Due to the shortage of food, the seals are all forced to eat bad-tasting barnacles while having to wait for the annual sardine run. After retrieving the name tag, Quinn & Benji both share each of the name tags, & go out at night to search for food amongst the human shipwrecks with no luck, & run afoul of a great white shark named Grimes & his remora associates, who tries to eat them. Quinn manages to survive by hiding in the wreck, & calls for Benji to join him, but learns he has been eaten by Grimes after seeing his part of the name tag snagged on his teeth, who then goes for him next, but Quinn is then saved by an elderly Claggart, who drives off Grimes & brings him back to the surface & reclaims his name tag before leaving Quinn. After he comes to & is found by three cape gannets named Diving Dee, Roger, & Mayday, who has been trying to eat a starfish that's been stuck in her mouth for years, who guide him to the wreck of the Good Boy, where Quinn insist Claggart into teaching him how to fight a shark, which he had experienced him do that to Grimes before he passed out, so he can avenge Benji's death.
After some advice by Claggart to assemble a team in order to accomplish his goal, he returns to Seal Island, where he recruits the energetic but eccentric Beth, who prefers & suggests to licking rocks rather than eat barnacles, & the boastful yet cowardly Great Geraldo, who keeps telling everyone that comes his way about escaping an aquarium in Cape Town, but had to leave behind his Asian cape fur seal girlfriend, Magnificent Jing. They arrive at the Good Boy where Claggart teaches them the skills they need to fight sharks & eventually they pass the final exam. Later that night, after being convinced by Quinn, Claggart takes them to Switch's wreck, where he accepts the offer to join them & shows off his latest biotech weapons to help them, including snapping clam grenades, electric eel bolts, pufferfish mines, stolen synchronized watches (Geraldo instead gets a toy watch), fighting barracuda bazookas, pistol shrimps(that shoots an ion blast of knockout gas when used), & an group of octopuses all named Flicka, who can all turn into a suit that makes anyone invisible. With their training & new weapons, they successfully take down a shark. Two onlooking sharks see this, & report to Grimes, who decides to make an example of them by using his remoras to summon all the sharks in the world, including the one that Quinn & his friends trapped, & orders them to surround Seal Island.
The gannets tell the group of the situation, so Switch suggests using his special formula chum to hypnotize the sharks & lure them away from Seal Island, so they go to Cape Town to retrieve a boat in order to install the chum. Once there, Geraldo reunites with Jing, who forces him to reveal that escaping the aquarium was Jing's idea & she escaped & left him behind due to the fact that he couldn't go through with it, & he was thrown out instead of escaping. After some convincing, Jing joins the team, & they acquire a boat & head back to Seal Island, where they use the chum to lure the sharks away from Seal Island & use the advantage to bombard the sharks with their weapons, distracting them & causing them to smash them into a rock. When the shark they fought attacks their boat, it crashes into a crevice where one of Grimes' remoras gets separated from the shark & take it hostage where they learn from it that surrounding Seal Island was a distraction to keep them busy while Grimes was gathering more shark forces. Geraldo & Jing stay behind to distract the sharks surrounding the boat wreck by tricking them with a play with fake replicas, in which they amend their ways before joining the others near Grimes' wreck to learn his true intentions.
With the help of Flicka, Quinn goes undercover & learns that Grimes is planning to lead an endless population of sharks to attack the Seal Island population on their south to the upcoming annual sardine run. However, Quinn's cover is compromised after Flicka's effects wear off but orders Flicka to activate their countermeasures who do it by covering the entire area of squid ink. While the escape from the ink cloud, Claggart abandons the others to keep the sharks busy, while the others escape. After arriving on the Good Boy, Quinn leaves for Seal Island, as he no longer wants to endanger his friends, but once he arrives, he learns all the seals have gone for the sardine run, & he confronts Brick for mindlessly endangering them, but then the latter regrets that he already knows about sharks, & pretends to believe that sharks aren't real, because even though some seals won't come back, the community will survive, before leaving with the rest of the seals. Knowing that their fate is in his hands, Quinn returns to the Good Boy, & reassembles the team to take down Grimes once & for all.
They arrive at Grime's wreck by sneaking inside the mouth of Dave, a goofy looking, loud-mouthed basking shark whom they frequently encounter. Once there, they assault all the sharks with ambushes, but Grimes appears & traps them in a container, before he joins the other sharks to eat the seals, which have already arrived. The group eventually escape, & manage to protect all the seals, who also lose their fear & join in the fight, along with Brick. They are also joined by Claggart, who is revealed to be alive & had gone to recruit Dolph for the team, who both restart the Good Boy, allowing a chance for the seals to escape on board. Grimes pounces onto the ship & snags Claggart's name tag on Quinn with the other name tag snagged on his tooth, resulting in a tug-of-war, but Quinn breaks free & retrieves both name tags while Grimes loses his balance, falls back into the sea, & is then killed & mauled by the Good Boy's propeller. With Grimes dead, the entire seal colony head for the sardine run on board the Good Boy.
Months later, Quinn & his friends have hauled the Good Boy to Seal Island as their new base, where the residents of Seal Island now honor them as heroes, & they, along with the gannets & Dave, keep the island safe from any seal-eating shark that comes by.
In a series of mid-credits scenes, Dave is seen as a caller on a talk show radio station, where continuously talks about the many he accidentally ate other than plankton to prove that not all sharks are dangerous.
The plot of the film was described as a "reconstruction" on the events of the 2021 series, according to a press release by ''Famitsu'', with a depiction of the events which take place after the series finale. This film is the story of a woman named Azar who commits illegal acts against others and earns money in this way. Timid housewife Jessica Cochran (Michele Lee) has been married to her controlling husband Gary (James Farentino) for years. She began dating him at the age of fifteen and has two children, daughter Maggie (Anndi McAfee) and son Pete (Damion Stevens). Gary had hit Jessica and threatened to kill her early-on in their relationship, although he has never hit the children. Both children are aware that Gary beats their mother, but they feel powerless to stop the abuse.
After some career trouble, Gary moves the family out to the New York suburb of Glen Oaks. At first, Gary seems like a sweet and loving husband, but after getting mad at some hippie neighbours who enjoy smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol and partying, he becomes obsessed with these neighbours, constantly reporting them to the police for petty reasons. Unemployed, Gary takes out his anger on Jessica. He attempts to cover up his inability to secure a new job by buying Maggie and Pete a VCR and a VHS tape of Disney's ''The Little Mermaid'', but then begins verbally attacking Jessica and his neighbours when Jessica asks him if he got a new job. Jessica takes up a part-time job at a bakery to help make ends meet; there she meets a new friend named Lee (Lee Garlington), who makes pottery as a hobby and shares some cigarettes with Jessica while they laugh at risque sex jokes. Lee declares that she "likes [Jessica's] buns!" (referring to Jessica's sourdough buns from the bakery), after which Jessica quips back, "well, I like your jugs!" (referring to Lee's pottery). Jessica also befriends her new boss, Walter, and becomes close with him. Meanwhile, Gary criticizes Jessica for wearing a knee-length skirt to work, telling her that she has fat legs.
Lee and Walter begin to notice bruises on Jessica's body, and urge her to divorce Gary and flee with the children. One night, during a particularly loud house party, a hippie stumbles drunk up to the Cochran home and repeatedly knocks on the door, making annoying noises. Gary responds by shooting and killing the hippie's pregnant wife, which horrifies Jessica. Gary is released from jail after claiming that the neighbours were trespassing on his private property, and arguing that the shooting was in self-defence. Meanwhile, while trying to teach Pete how to fight back against some local school bullies, he violently punches Pete in the stomach, causing the boy to collapse on the floor. Jessica catches Pete that night applying ice cubes from the kitchen freezer onto a large bruise up one side of his body. Realizing that Gary is beginning to beat the children, she sneaks out of the home and spends the night with Walter. She begins dating Walter, although Lee advises Jessica to go underground to a women's shelter because of Gary's murderous history.
Gary becomes more and more unhinged, attempting at one point to force Maggie and Pete into his car so he can abduct them. Walter and Jessica are able to pull the children away from him and rescue them. Lee takes Jessica to the police for a restraining order, but the issuing judge (Ellen Crawford) warns Jessica that a restraining order is merely a piece of paper, with no power to physically stop Gary from coming back. Gary lures Jessica back into the Cochran home and holds her hostage, forcing her to put on skimpy black lingerie while he proceeds to rape her. The next morning, a SWAT team arrives and a hostage negotiator is able to convince Gary to let Jessica free. Despite Gary's actions, he is once again kept out of jail.
Jessica moves into a women's shelter for the sake of Maggie and Pete, both of whom make friends at the shelter and begin resuming normal childhood activities, like drawing pictures. Jessica continues dating Walter, and they decide one evening to take the children to a diner for supper, in the hopes that it will be a fun activity to distract themselves from Gary. Unbeknownst to them, Gary has found the women's shelter and is following Jessica in his car. Jessica, Walter and the children eat a meal together while Gary watches from outside. Upon exiting the diner, Jessica and Walter share a kiss, infuriating Gary, who steps out of his hiding place and shoots Jessica and Walter with a revolver. An ending scene reveals that the real "Jessica Cochran" (Pamela Guenther) was mortally wounded by the gunshots and died, while the real "Walter Wheeler" (Stanley Stinson) recovered from his injuries and testified against Gary in court. It is revealed that the real "Maggie" and "Pete" Cochran (Christopher and Jennifer Guenther) were taken in by their grandparents after the killing of their mother.

The first part of the documentary focuses on the police "missing person" report of amateur hiker Gary Hinge: Toward the end of July 2017, Gary hiked to an unspecified area in the Mojave Desert (Nevada). His starting point was the town of Ruth and his target was presumably a cabin he had approached on a previous expedition. When he was two days past his estimated return date and did not return home, his housemate Simon Rodgers alerted Gary's sister, Beverly Hinge, who in turn notified the police. More than a week had passed since Gary had last been seen.
Initially, the police conducted a search based on the last GPS location of Gary's cell phone. Local and state police were involved, as well as park rangers and even volunteer groups. A few days later, it was reported that Gary's van had been found, 55 miles from his departure in Ruth, Nevada, at the end of a dirt road at the bottom of a small hill. This finding prompted search parties, who covered large areas on foot, by helicopter and with the use of drones. None of the groups were able to find any trace or indication of Gary's location. When several more days passed without any news, the police terminated the search, as they considered that the chances of finding Gary alive were already practically nil, due to the fact that he used to travel with minimal supplies, water and equipment, which left him at the mercy of the weather (the hottest time of the year) and other dangers, such as the local fauna or the fact that there are multiple abandoned mining pits in the area. As time went by, the media stopped reporting on it. Subsequently, Beverly hired a private investigator, William 'Bill' Salerno, so that the case would not be abandoned. A reporter from a local media outlet, Gal Roberts, decided to convince her editor to keep on top of the story, lest it be forgotten as a "cold case".
Thus, the investigation then focused on the clues that could be obtained from the van, now considered a crime scene. Two aspects stood out; first, numerous fingerprints that did not match Gary Hinge's were found all over the van, especially on the steering wheel. In addition, a trail of barefoot footprints, also not matching Gary's, was found. Since the John Doe's fingerprints did not match any database, the police found themselves at a dead end. In parallel, Bill Salerno started digging into Gary's social networks and Gal Roberts finds a promising clue in the video blog where Gary used to post his hiking and survival adventures, under the alias "Scorpion Sam". The hiker had some 50,000 followers, a fact unknown to his family and people close to him. Several of his readers believe they have some idea about Gary's final whereabouts, and that the question about his final destination could be related to some of his publications.
In the next to last of the published videos, Gary appears in frame from his home, narrating a very unusual experience, which had left him very disturbed: In his last excursion, he had been walking for three days in an unknown area, when he noticed the smell of smoke. Following that trail, he found a dilapidated-looking cabin, as if abandoned, but with smoke coming out of an old chimney. However, a sense of "imminent danger" caused him to move away from the site and make camp away from the area. The next morning, Gary reported that he found a trail of barefoot footprints, and on the way back to his truck, he felt he was being watched, and even felt he was being followed. This publication had a lot of comments, most of them negative, where followers expressed serious doubts about Gary's account, questioning why he had not recorded anything and did not present any evidence; another large number of comments were from users demanding him to give the coordinates of the place and another part of the visitors of his blog challenged him to come back. Feeling the victim of cyber-bullying and visibly affected, Gary recorded and uploaded one last video, explaining that he would not give the exact location of the mystery cabin, since he did not want to encourage inexperienced people to venture into those desert regions, and informed that he would return to the site, accompanied by his video camera and a gun for protection.
Several weeks after the van was found and search and rescue efforts were completed, a group of hikers in White Pine County reported that a backpack, which turned out to be the property of Gary Hinge, had been left at their campsite. Upon checking the contents of the backpack, aside from Gary's belongings and identification, his severed hand was found, still holding his video camera. Forensic analysis revealed that the hand had been severed from the victim while he was still alive, within a period of no more than five weeks. When authorities examined the memory card inserted into the camera, they discovered what happened to Gary on one fateful night.
The footage found reveals that Gary was indeed able to find his way back to the mystery cabin; his first video entry was recorded at dusk, mentioning that he had been on the road for a day and a half and was sure of the route. Subsequently, he finds various markers he had left from his previous visit. Next, the following recordings consist of video fragments all recorded under infrared light, starting with Gary talking very frightened; he comments that he is already very close to the cabin and that he can smell smoke, as in the previous time. Suddenly, he hears chanting that seems to be a human voice, although it seems distorted. Once he finds the cabin, Gary confirms that it is the same one he saw earlier. While filming the outside of the cabin, Gary detects a human silhouette moving towards him. Being very careful not to make noise on the rocky ground, Gary tries to move away from the site, but is eventually spotted by a human-like being, but with severe physical deformities, who attacks him and the camera stops recording.
Both the reporter and the private investigator speculate what or who might have attacked and killed Gary; it is mentioned that the police have made this footage public in the hope that someone in the audience might offer some additional clue, which has sparked a series of conspiracy theories linking Gary's disappearance to real or supernatural issues as diverse as Area 51, atomic testing, local Indigenous rituals, satanic groups or extraterrestrials. However, Gal Roberts expresses serious concerns about the fact that at least 17 social media accounts have taken it upon themselves to make expeditions to the area. Additionally, one of these groups is said to have posted that they have managed to find the trail of the cabin and its mysterious occupant, and that they will reveal the results of their expedition in 2022.
Jonathan Marsh is a lonely twenty-something, working night shifts at a local liquor store with his friend and shift manager, Eric, “The ERC.” One night at his apartment Jonathan is summoned through his TV by a seductive woman, beckoning him to come “meet sexy singles in his neighborhood” and call the 1-900 number on his screen. Soon, Jonathan finds himself on a blind date at Jenny's Diner with Dena. She coerces him to take her to his apartment, where they engage in a one-night stand. The next morning, Jonathan awakens alone in his apartment, no sign of Dena, but he does discover an uncomfortable and unsightly rash on his abdomen.
Looking for answers, he returns to Dena's but is greeted by a suspicious man who denies she lives there. Jonathan's paranoia increases when he is stricken with nightmarish visions. His physical symptoms worsen as well, eventually spreading to his arm. Unable to sleep, Jonathan returns to Jenny's Diner, where he receives a phone call from his friend, Eric, who tells him he's in trouble and to come over to his place immediately.
Jonathan arrives at Eric's to find his front door ajar and Eric not home. Jonathan goes inside to search for him. In Eric's room he's attacked by an unknown assailant. The police arrive and arrest Jonathan. Jonathan finds himself in the care of psychiatrist, Dr. Jason Ronaldi, who provides family counseling and commits him to a 3-day hospital stay. Ultimately, Jonathan is released into the care of his parents. His first night at home, while sleeping, he awakens to find a mysterious black, bubbling ooze on his bedroom wall. His paranoia escalates and he absconds from his parents' house. The next morning he awakens in an abandoned field.
He makes his way to an occult book store where he receives instructions to meet with Miss Melinda at Blue High Shack. That night at Blue High Shack, Miss Melinda tells him he's been the victim of a witch cult and coaches him through a ritual, involving a ceremonial dagger, meant to rid his body of the “evil” (black string) that has been implanted in him by Dena and the cult. It's a painful ordeal and Jonathan is unsuccessful in his attempt to remove the string. He returns to Miss Melinda at the occult book store demanding an explanation. She tells him to return to Dena and the witch cult for answers.
Jonathan returns to Dena's house. Ensuring no one is home, he sneaks into the house and finds Dena captive upstairs, agonizing and mangled. While Jonathan is upstairs with Dena, the witch cult occupants return home. Jonathan confronts them on his way out. Still, the suspicious man from earlier continues to deny any knowledge of “Dena," but Jonathan is convinced that what he saw upstairs was real and leaves to seek help. Jonathan returns to the liquor store to seek the help of his friend, Eric, who calls the police. The police quickly arrive and arrest Jonathan.
Once again, Jonathan finds himself in the care of psychiatrist, Dr. Ronaldi, but this time at the County Psychiatric Hospital lock down unit. Dr. Ronaldi encourages him to "confront his demons" and to commit to the therapy. That night, Jonathan is attacked by the demon of his nightmares. The next morning, Dr. Ronaldi and staff find him eviscerated and dead in his bed, the ceremonial dagger in his right hand, begging the question—did he do it to himself or was he sacrificed by the witch cult who cursed him? Dr. Ronaldi phones Jonathan's parents.
The denouement finds a young woman waiting at a bus stop when the witch cult pull up to offer her a ride. She gets in and they drive off toward an uncertain fate.

While Jellybean's brother Jughead says he wants to come with them, FP rebuffs him and tells him to focus on college, as he had recently been accepted to the University of Iowa.
On their last day at Riverdale High School, the seniors reminisce over their yearbooks and reflect on the time they've spent at the school. A time capsule buried in 1945 is opened and one of the items is a photograph of four seniors taken right before the four were deployed to war. Meanwhile, Mr. Weatherbee, the principal, tells Archie Andrews that he will be unable to graduate and will have to retake his senior year of high school. However, he still allows Archie to participate in the graduation ceremony and asks him to record a song for the event. Later that night, Veronica Lodge visits Archie and, although the two of them had broken up several weeks earlier, they spend the night together. At the graduation ceremony, Betty Cooper gives a valedictorian speech talking about the events that the seniors have gone through and how she has hope for a better future in Riverdale and for the graduating seniors. The ceremony occurs with Archie's recording of "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)". Meanwhile, Cheryl Blossom's mother Penelope, who clandestinely attended the ceremony, tells her daughter that she is turning herself over to the police for some of the crimes she had earlier committed.
After graduation, Archie, Betty, Cheryl, Jughead, Veronica, Kevin Keller, Reggie Mantle, and Toni Topaz bury a time capsule with some of their own personal items. Archie, inspired by the photograph, talks to some Army recruiters and enlists, and when he reveals this to Betty, Jughead, and Veronica, Veronica leaves, saying she cannot support his decision. Later, Jughead reveals how he has noticed how odd their friends have been since prom. Realizing that Archie must've confessed to Veronica, Betty finally tells Jughead that she and Archie had kissed, which led to their breakup. The next morning, Jughead drives Archie to the bus stop for him to go to basic training. At the same time, Betty and Veronica talk about what happened and, deciding to talk to Archie before he leaves, go to the bus stop, but Jughead tells them the bus had just left. The three of them catch up to the bus and say their goodbyes to Archie, with he and Veronica saying they love each other, before he boards the bus again.
Over the summer, Veronica leaves Riverdale to live with her mother in the Hamptons, while Betty leaves to go to Yale University and Jughead departs to Iowa. One year later, honoring a vow the four had made, Jughead returns to Riverdale to meet with his friends at Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe, though they do not come. In a voiceover just before the end credits, Jughead reveals that it would be six years before the four of them would see each other again.
''Darius the Great Is Not Okay'' follows Darius Kellner, an Iranian–American teenager living in Portland, Oregon, who has clinical depression. He loves ''Star Trek''; tea; and his little sister, Laleh. Darius struggles with bullies, a lack of friends, and his disapproving dad, Stephen Kellner.
Stephen believes that it's partially Darius' fault for being bullied, since he makes himself more of a target. He dislikes Darius' hair length. Stephen also has clinical depression. The main time they spend with each other is when both they both watch an episode of ''Star Trek'' each night.
Upon discovering his ''babou'' (Darius' mom's dad) has a brain tumor, the family decides to take a trip to the desert city of Yazd, Iran, where Darius' grandparents live. Darius has not seen his grandparents in a long time, and has only talked to them through video calls, but Darius speaks little Farsi compared to his mom and sister, so he easily gets lost in the conversations. Upon arriving, Darius instantly connects with his ''mamou'' (grandmother), but struggles to get to know his babou.
Darius meets Sohrab, the son of one of Babou's neighbors. Sohrab invites him to play football, which Darius enjoys, but while showering after the game, other boys make fun of Darius' penis, calling it "Ayatollah", and Sohrab joins in. This leads to Darius leaving and having a breakdown, but Sohrab comes to apologize later in the day. Sohrab and Darius continue to bond as they hang out and begin to play football frequently. Darius feels comfortable around Sohrab; Darius feels like he can be himself around him. They often visit a rooftop (pictured in the cover) that provides a view of the city and an isolated place to talk.
Darius becomes frustrated when Laleh begins watching ''Star Trek'' with Stephen—the only thing that Darius and Stephen had together—and started without him, because he's already seen the episodes. Darius feels that Laleh is his better replacement. Darius receives an Iranian national football team jersey as a present from Sohrab, which he loves as it makes him feel like a true Persian and feel like he fits in. His family visits multiple sights of Yazd and Iran throughout the book, including Persopolis, Tower of Silence, Jameh Mosque, and the Fire Temple of Yazd.
In a few days before Darius and his family must leave Iran, Darius decides to buy Sohrab a pair of cleats as a gift. He visits the house to find their family in grief. Sohrab lashes out at Darius before revealing his father has just died (who was previously revealed to be jailed by the Iranian government for unknown reasons). Sohrab complains that Darius is always crying but has nothing to be sad for, and tells him to leave. Darius runs to the rooftop and cries.
Darius' dad finds him. They open up emotionally to each other: Stephen tells him of how he was close to suicide when Darius was young, and went on pills to prevent it. He states, "Suicide isn't the only way you can lose someone to depression." Darius explains why he was upset about ''Star Trek'', and how he feels that Stephen thinks Darius was disappointment to him. Stephen reassures him that he loves him.
Sohrab apologies to Darius, saying that since he was hurting, he wanted Darius to hurt too. They end on good terms and the family leaves Iran. Back in Portland, Darius has a better relationship with his dad, has frequent video calls with Sohrab and Mamou, is feeling more confident at school, and is motivated to tryout for his school's soccer team.
In the previous episode, Clifford Blossom was found hanging in his barn from an apparent suicide. This episode picks up with that and reveals that Clifford killed himself when it became apparent that he had killed his son Jason Blossom. Jason had threatened to expose his dad's crime, as it is revealed that Clifford had used his maple syrup business as a front for trafficking heroin from Canada. At the same time, FP Jones is incarcerated for his involvement with Jason's death. While Sheriff Tom Keller wants him to give him the names of Southside Serpents (Jones's gang) who were involved in Clifford's drug businesses, though Jones maintains their innocence and refuses to name names.
At Riverdale High School, Archie Andrews and Veronica Lodge reveal that they are dating. Meanwhile, Betty Cooper is writing an article on FP's innocence, though her mom Alice Cooper refuses to print it in ''The Riverdale Register'' out of fear of retribution for defending the Serpents, who have become a target for the town's anger. Betty decides to publish the article anyways on the school newspaper's website, which leads to her locker being vandalized with "Go to Hell Serpent Slut" written in pig blood. Around this time, Betty also begins pushing her mom to reveal more family secrets, where she learns that, while in high school, her mom gave up a son for adoption through the Sisters of Quiet Mercy and never mentioned this to Betty or her sister Polly. At the same time, Jughead Jones (FP's son and Betty's boyfriend) gets placed with a foster family and transfers to Southside High School. Later, some Serpents tell Jughead that they respect his father for not ratting them out and offer Jughead their protection and a leather Serpents jacket.
Clifford's daughter Cheryl Blossom, distraught over her father's death, walks out onto the frozen Sweetwater River in a suicide attempt, though Archie, Betty, Jughead, and Veronica arrive there just as she falls into the water. Archie manages to save her by punching through the ice and performing CPR on her. After recovering, Cheryl burns down her family's mansion, Thornhill, in an act of rebellion against her mom, Penelope Blossom. That same night, Mayor Sierra McCoy is hosting a jubilee for the town's 75th anniversary where Archie performs an original musical number with Josie and the Pussycats. After this, Betty gives a speech that both highlights the good of Riverdale but calls attention to its many flaws and that the town must do better in order to avoid future tragedies like what happened with the Blossoms.

The gameplay of Moonglow Bay begins when the player's partner is declared dead after being missing for three years. The player character is joined by their daughter and resolves to fulfill their partner's dream of revitalizing the old fishing town they call home. The daughter and the inhabitants of the town teach the player to fish, cook, and upgrade the boat. After learning that the town's fishing industry died upon hearing too many tall tales of the ocean life, the player must confront a famous fish called The Ruin to prove to the townsfolk that the legends are overblown. This restarts the town's fishing industry, but the fisherman inform the player that a big storm is keeping them from success. Upon investigation, the storm turns out to be caused by an upset electric fish shocking the area. After freeing the fish, the player happens upon a large gate that seals away a portion of the bay. The townsfolk tell a story about the founding twins of the town, who passed the key down until it was thrown into the ocean. After retrieving the key and opening the gate, the player finds a pair of fighting fish. Initially planning to remove one of the fish to make money to invest into the town, the player instead finds a way to separate them and decides to allow them both to live separately in the lake out of respect for nature. Upon returning to the town, the player learns that there is ink flowing throughout the bay, making it impossible to fish and making it unlikely for tourists to return. The lighthouse keeper knows the cause and the solution, but is reluctant to share because he feels that the town does not want to get better. Similarly to the player character, he too once wanted to revitalize the fishing town, and was disappointed that the town's fishing industry was diminished regardless. Disappointed, the player character stays home for many days. Eventually the daughter brings her out of the house, and both the player character and the lighthouse keeper are encouraged to see local fishermen removing ink from the bay in order to keep it clean.
Throughout the above plotline, there are many side quests that involve investing in improving the town and learning about the backstory of each of the townspeople. Additionally, cleaning up the town and stocking the aquarium bring more tourists to the area.

The film focusses more on Brecht's relationships with women (namely Paula Banholzer, Marianne Zoff, Helene Weigel, Elisabeth Hauptmann, Ruth Berlau, Käthe Reichel, Regine Lutz and Isot Kilian) than on his plays and poems. It does not mention the term epic theatre (though rehearsal scenes in Part 2 illustrate his working process with the Berliner Ensemble) and his years of exile are skipped - Bresloer has written:
:"Naturally I would also like to have treated his exile. But that would have been a very particular film and there wasn't enough budget or airtime for it. In my novel about the film, however, exile does come up, especially his time with Margarete Steffin.''
Part of the film consists of an account by Martin Pohl, one of Brecht's Masters students, who was imprisoned for two years - it tells how he was tortured by sleep deprivation and gave a false confession.
This deals with Brecht's time in Augsburg, Munich and Berlin before his exile. "I'll come right behind Goethe" muses the slight and shy-looking 17-year-old schoolboy to his young love Paula, wanting to be the latest genius. His friends laugh with him at his presumptuousness and yet believe him.
This mainly deals with his life and work in East Berlin after his return from exile, such as his work with the SED regime in East Germany. This includes the SED central committee's 1953 plan to hand over the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm to the Kasernierten Volkspolizei ensemble (later known as the Erich-Weinert-Ensemble) and Brecht's successful appeal to Otto Grotewohl against this. That venue has thus housed the Berliner Ensemble (founded by Brecht and Weigel in 1949) since 1954.

In November 1982, married couple Ray and Olivia return to their small town home, to find that their eight-year-old daughter, Maisie, has disappeared without a trace.
One year later, after a funeral service, the family arrives at Ray and Olivia's house. In addition to the two of them and their son Noah, Ray's brother Billy, Olivia's sister Arlene and her husband Kenneth, the sheriff of a neighboring parish, and Olivia's widowed brother Morgan join for dinner. The group attempts to have dinner, but Ray begins an argument with his brother Billy. Later, Ray and Morgan have a short conversation about grieving: Morgan offers his advice, but Ray makes it clear he has no intention of moving on, and storms out of the kitchen.
A strange play of light begins in the forest, which Ray looks at with concern. He suspects that local children are using flares, and sets out to confront them in the forest. Against his will, Morgan, Billy, Sheriff Kenneth and his son Noah join him. They drive into the forest, and witness strange phenomena: electricity goes haywire, both on their flashlights and on the car, an inexplicable light crosses the forest, and Morgan disappears without a trace. At the same time, Sheriff Kenneth experiences something that renders him catatonic, and the party reunites in the car, with Morgan still missing. Olivia and Arlene, who remained in the house, are startled by rumbling noises.
After the men return, the house experiences further disturbing phenomena. The lights flickers erratically, electrical devices turn on by themselves, an invisible force attracts metal objects and a figure sneaks around the house and tries to enter. Drawn by the glaring light, Ray, Kenneth and Arlene disappear one after the other. Billy, Olivia and Noah flee from the property to the nearest country road, where they witness a light show in the night sky; it is now clear that the events are due to extraterrestrial beings. The trio is picked up by the local sheriff and another policeman and driven back to the house. Neither of the three reveals what had actually happened, and just declare that they were tormented by some unknown trio. At their own request, the three stay behind in the house and barricade themselves in the bedroom of the missing daughter, and the police officers go back to town. At the police station, a crowd is waiting to give statements regarding similar events; a police woman describes similar occurrences to the sheriff.
Back in the house, an alien enters the bedroom and touches Olivia's forehead. She finds herself in a copy of the house, where she can see past events through the windows: the scenes that led to the disappearance of her daughter Maisie a year earlier take place. While Ray and Olivia were in town, she sees how Sheriff Kenneth visited Maisie and took advantage of her parents' absence to rape her. He then killed the girl and buried her in the forest where the light shows began a year later. Olivia wakes up in her bed again. As the truth unfolds, the walls of the house begin to crack, and Olivia finds herself laying in Maisie's bed, while she processes what she just found out about.
Her son calls her, and she wakes up in the room again. All of the people who had previously disappeared slowly reappear in the house, with a small nosebleed and evident shock. They were all shown, like Olivia was, what had happened a year ago, and Kenneth's horrendous crime is now known to them all. As they go down the stairs, Kenneth begins to curl himself against the wall, and Arlene attacks Kenneth. Moments later, the sheriff arrives, while Olivia asks Kenneth where Maisie's body is.
The sheriff organises a search party that finally finds Maisie's body, and the family holds a second funeral. He is then interviewed on TV about the events that unfolded, and the alien's aid in finding Maisie. The last scene shows Ray and Olivia in bed, as they begin process what has happened and find inner peace.

The plan is a success and is celebrated at a banquet where Crazyloff is applauded by his scientific colleagues.
The Reno Sherriff's Department is tasked with serving a court summons to Q of QAnon when local pizza restaurant seeks to sue them for defamation after they are accused by Q of running a pedophile ring out of their basement. As the deputies scour the internet for clues as to Q's true identity, they discover that a QAnon convention is scheduled to take place on a booze cruise setting out from Panama City. Dangle manages to secure tickets for cruise for all of the deputies so that they can go undercover and find out Q's true identity.
As the deputies board the shipo they become acquainted with their fellow passengers and Q enthusiasts as they all separate to conduct their own inquiries. During this time Dangle attempts to sell his idea for a traveling puppet show to the crew, Wiegel goes off her meds and hallucinates that a houseplant is the man of her dreams, Jones discovers that the ship's captain is a mentally unstable alcoholic, and Clementine attempts to strike up a romance with Ron, one of speakers at the convention, in an attempt to get some information out of him.
Eventually, the deputies discover that the Q enthusiasts that they met at the convention are undercover FBI, CIA, and journalists, prompting them all to pool their resources in a stakeout where they wire up Clementine in hopes of gaining incriminating information on Q from Ron while she seduces him. As the two of them get intimate together, Ron confesses to actually being Q, leading to his apprehension and him being served his court summons. Their celebration is cut short, however, as they discover that the Ron lied about being Q, and is actually a gym instructor from Fresno. Shortly after, the ship's passengers are forced to be quarantined on the ship for 30 days due to outbreak of a new strain of diarrhea onboard. The undercover agents and journalists are allowed to disembark, leaving the deputies to continue the investigation on their own.
During quarantine, the Ron confesses to lying to Clementine so he could impress her, which leads to an actual romance sparking between them after they discover that they have much in common. As the two get closer, Ron reveals that while he's not Q himself, he is his right-hand man and that Q has turned Jeffrey Epstein's island into his own personal headquarters where he runs the entire conspiracy. Meanwhile, the ship's captain suffers a mental break and attempts to ram the ship into the coast. Jones is able to stop him, having been entrusted with the keys to the ship earlier while the captain was drunk, but the crew kicks the deputies off the ship for mutiny, setting them adrift on a raft along with Ron.
While adrift, the Ron reveals that they are very close to Jeffrey Epstein's island. Thanks to Dangle's coastguard experience, the deputies are able to find Epstein's island, where they are immediately turned over to QAnon operatives by the Ron, save for Clementine who joins their cause. The Deputies are brought before Q, who is revealed to be nothing more than a man who receives his insights from a saltwater-damaged Speak & Spell that washed up onto the island years earlier. With the island's location compromised, Q orders the deputies to be locked in Epstein's sex dungeon along with a bomb that will blow up the entire compound with them inside.
As the countdown starts, Clementine frees the deputies from the dungeon and reveals that she's roofied all of the QAnon operatives in the compound. Unable to defuse the bomb, Dangle volunteers to take it out to sea where it can detonate safely. The deputies get the bomb as far as the beach, only for it to detonate with Dangle right next to it, seemingly killing him. The deputies serve Q his court summons then board a ship to make their way back to the mainland, where they find Dangle alive and well among the passengers, having attempted to fake his own death. The deputies, along with Dangle, return to their duties in Reno, while Clementine continues her relationship with Ron, who is now rich after having smuggled a large amount of money from Q's island.

On the night of 3 March 2014, A convict named Annappa is on the run from the authorities for murdering his brother-in-law. Hiding behind an unfinished police station, he sees Rajendra emerging from it. Afterwards, he attempts to apologize to his wife, but end up being arrested by the police.
'''Six years later''': Rajendra, Seetha, Sindhu and Shreya are leading a more prosperous life. Rajendra is now a successful businessman, and owner of a movie theatre who yearns to produce a film of his own, despite his family's strong reservations. He is in constant contact with a renowned screenwriter named Vijayshankar, to develop the plot.
However, Sindhu has recurring episodes of epilepsy and has PTSD – a direct consequence of her fears of being arrested, on account of her complicity in the murder of Tarun Chandrasekhar. Jealous of the family's rise in wealth, a number of villagers have resorted to spreading rumours about Sindhu having "venereal connections" with Tarun – much to Seetha's distress.
Seetha's only source of solace is her friendly neighbor Saritha – a government clerk, who is often abused by her alcoholic husband, Sabu – a real estate broker. The Karnataka Police has been humiliated in their inability to decipher the truth behind Tarun's case. Meanwhile, Rajendra has an encounter with Tarun's father Mr. Chandrasekhar, who vainly begs the former to disclose the location of his son's remains.
Meanwhile, Shreya comes home for spring break and invites her friends for a house party, despite Seetha's objections. With Rajendra remaining aloof to her concerns, Seetha spends more time with Saritha, and on one occasion, inadvertently blurts on the truth about her family's complicity in Tarun's death. Unbeknownst to her, Saritha and Sabu are actually married undercover cops, assigned by IG Prathap Narayan, who is a close friend and colleague of Roopa.
Annappa is released from prison. After struggling to make amends with his now-estranged family, he seeks to find employment. While coming to know that Rajendra's case is still ongoing, he recollects Rajendra's presence at the police station which was under construction. Realizing that Rajendra was indeed complicit in the murder, he tips Prathap – who later summons Roopa and Chandrasekhar from the U.S.A.
After the trio bribes him with a sum of , Annappa reveals Rajendra's presence at the then-unfinished police station on the night of August 3. Armed with Annappa's revelations, the authorities raid the police station, eventually unearthing a human skeleton. Concurrently, Rajendra, having noticed the events through his CCTV cameras (which he had set up around the police station), seemingly gives up.
Armed with the discovery of the human remains, Prathap, Roopa, and Chandrasekhar summons Rajendra's family for an informal investigation. Rajendra, Seetha, Shreya and Sindhu manage to maintain their alibi. However, Roopa reveals a voice-recording of Seetha's earlier confession to Saritha; the police had bugged the family residence earlier. Having exposed the family, Roopa turns to question Sindhu, resulting in the latter having another epileptic seizure.
Distraught, Rajendra falsely confesses that he was the culprit in Tarun's murder. With the police satisfied, the family is released and Rajendra ends up being arrested, but Roopa isn't satisfied as she demands that Rajendra's family be punished as well. Later, Rajendra is placed on trial for Tarun's murder. Concurrently, Vijayshankar, having learned about Rajendra's arrest, pays a visit to Prathap, Roopa and Chandrasekhar.
He reveals that during his business collusions with Rajendra, the latter had fabricated a script for a future crime thriller, loosely based on Tarun's murder. He further reveals that Rajendra had published a novel, titled ''Drishya'', based on the film script (although it was published under Vijayshankar's name, for copyright protection). The quartet is then informed that Rajendra had officially pleaded not guilty, with his legal defence submitting that he had been framed by the authorities, which had "misused" Drishya's plot as a means to incriminate him.
Realizing that Rajendra's earlier confession matches with Drishya's plot, Prathap deduces that Rajendra had created the novel and the confession, as a part of a scheme to escape legal punishment. Even more surprising, the DNA tests conducted on the skeleton revealed that it doesn't match Tarun's DNA. Stunned, Vijayashankar divulges that Rajendra had fabricated an alternate climax for his film – in which the hero (Rajendra), in his bid to evade legal punishment, would procure the remains of another person of same age and sex, who had died owing to similar injuries like that of the villain by befriending the gravedigger of the cemetery where that said body had been interred.
The hero would keep the skeletal remains which he got from the cemetery with him for nearly three years, and befriend a security guard at the district medical college morgue under the pretext of offering him a chance in the film industry. On the night the remains excavated from the police station arrive at the morgue, after plying the security guard with drinks, the hero would switch the body in the morgue, just before the day the DNA analysis is to be performed.
With no physical evidence to prove his culpability, Rajendra is released on personal bail. Rajendra's lawyer requests the Judge to kindly direct the state police not to proceed against Rajendra and his family for the time being as they are approaching the High Court of Karntaka to stop all the proceedings against them in connection with the "so-called" crime. The Judge calls Prathap to his chambers and tells him that both Rajendra's and Chandrasekhar's families truly deserve justice but the legal system is unable to provide it to them.
The Judge also orders Prathap to end all investigations of Tarun's case, as unsolved cases are not new to the system. Outside the courthouse, Vijayashankar discloses to Roopa and Chandrasekhar that Rajendra's alternate climax had a tail end as well: the hero would transfer the villain's remains to his bereaved parents. Simultaneously, Rajendra has Tarun's cremated skeletal remains anonymously handed over to Roopa and Chandrasekhar.
As Chandrasekhar immerses Tarun's ashes into the river, Prathap convinces Roopa to let go of her enmity with Rajendra, saying that they will never succeed in punishing Rajendra since he is making good on his intent to protect his family. Prathap also states that Rajendra's life is his punishment, as the latter must constantly endeavour in his efforts to protect his family from the ever-watchful eye of the authorities. Meanwhile, Rajendra, who was watching the trio from afar, leaves solemnly.
An adaptation of the (often presented as "unadaptable") novel ''Tirano Banderas'', a standout work of the ''esperpento'' genre which underpins a criticism of abuses of power, the plot tracks the developments in the fictitious republic of Santa Fe de Tierra Firme, ruled by megalomaniac dictator Santos Banderas. The dictator has been noted to display an amalgamation of features from real dictators such as Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, Miguel Primo de Rivera or Juan Vicente Gómez.

She is secretly in a romantic relationship with a reclusive woman named Verdene, who is ostracized and harassed by the community because of her sexual orientation.

A plot to assassinate British Foreign Secretary, Lord Carrington, who is secretly visiting the President of France in an isolated country location, is called off at the last moment. Jack Corder, a double agent in the organisation of master terrorist, Frank Barry, is killed by Barry, who escapes.
Brigadier Ferguson, head of ‘Group Four’, a covert operation within the British security establishment, and answerable directly to the Prime Minister (never named, but clearly intended to be Margaret Thatcher), for counter-terrorist activities, is instructed to eliminate Barry, by any means. He has already lost three agents planted in Barry's organisation, and must now try a new tack.
Barry, a former IRA gunman and now psychopathic gun-for-hire, who is being paid by the Russians, is given his next job. He is to obtain details of a new West German anti-tank rocket system, and, better still, the rockets themselves. They are due to be demonstrated at a British army proving ground, near Wast Water, in the English Lake District, after being flown in to a disused former RAF station. His handler, Romanov, officially a cultural attaché at the Soviet embassy in Paris, but actually a KGB Colonel, arranges false documents, money and equipment.
Heavily disguised, Barry travels by hydrofoil to Jersey in the Channel Islands, from where he flies to Manchester. In a rented car, he drives to the seaside town of Morecambe, where an anonymous contact delivers firearms and other equipment, as arranged by Romanov. He then drives to an small village near Ravenglass, not far from the army proving ground.
The plan is to escape out to sea with the stolen weapons, to board a Russian fishing boat. His local contact, Salter, an undertaker and embalmer whom Romanov has used before, provides two powerful boats, and an isolated farmhouse to base himself in. He also meets Hedley Preston and Sam Varley, thugs-for-hire, recruited by Salter from the Liverpool underworld, to provide armed muscle. But Barry doesn't trust them, especially after a drunken Varley tries to rape Jenny, Salter's young assistant.
On the basis of ‘Set a thief to catch a thief’, Ferguson decides that the only person to eliminate Barry is Martin Brosnan, American-born former soldier in the Vietnam war, former friend of Barry and IRA killer. But he's serving a life sentence in France's impenetrable Belle Isle prison.
And the only person to get him out of prison is fellow IRA terrorist, Liam Devlin, now a Professor, teaching in Dublin, who is ‘untouchable’ in Eire.
Ferguson and Harry Fox, his personal assistant, task the Special Air Service to kidnap Devlin. They send Captain Tony Villiers and a small team of troopers, undercover, who kidnap Devlin at his weekend cottage, smuggle him over the border into Ulster and bring him unharmed to London.
Ferguson threatens Devlin with trial, on charges that would almost certainly get him a life sentence, but Devlin claims that the charges would not stand up in court, due to his being kidnapped illegally. Ferguson already knows this, and plays his trump card. He shows Devlin film of a young girl, Norah Cassidy, Brosnan's cousin, who Devlin also knew. She had been Barry's mistress, then turned into a drug addict, and died in agony.
Devlin is horrified and agrees to fall in with Ferguson's plan. He is to fly to Marseilles and gain entry to the island prison, using the identity of a lawyer concerned with Brosnan's family business.
Anne-Marie Audin, a famous French photographer, who knew Brosnan well and was rescued by him when under fire in Vietnam, is persuaded to accompany Devlin, although Brosnan has previously refused to see her.
Devlin visits Brosnan, and plans his escape, with the assistance of the criminal organisation, the Unione Corse. Brosnan's cell-mate, Jacques Savary, is a former senior member of the Unione, and his son, Jean-Paul, living in Marseilles, agrees to provide facilities and equipment. But the plan they devise is dangerous and fraught with risks.
Barry's hijacking of the army convoy carrying the rockets goes ahead. One soldier is killed; the rest are incapacitated with gas grenades. He loads the rockets onto a Land-Rover and drives to the waiting boats; Preston and Varley are shot dead by Barry, when they demand more money. Jenny is also accidentally killed.
Departing from his plan, as agreed with Romanov, he pays off Salter, conceals the rockets in waterproof containers on one of the boats, which he sinks. He departs for Manchester airport. However, his trip from Jersey back to France is delayed by technical problems.
A report on the incident, written by Ferguson, solely for the eyes of the Prime Minister, is leaked via Mary Baxter, a mole in Ferguson's office, whose lover is a KGB Captain at the Soviet embassy in London. The report is coded and sent to Paris, but Romanov is temporarily away in Berlin.
Brosnan and Savary accomplish their escape, via the sewers of the prison. With lifejackets and other equipment smuggled in by Devlin, they plan to throw themselves into the turbulent waters surrounding the island from the ‘funeral rock’, to be, hopefully, picked up by a boat owned by the Unione. Devlin and Anne-Marie are also on board.
The waters surrounding the island, known as the ‘Mill Race’, are notoriously dangerous, but the two men survive, are picked up and returned to shore. Eternally grateful, Jean-Paul spirits his father away to be hidden in Algeria, whilst Brosnan is taken to Anne-Marie's small farm in the hills near Nice, where they can hide in safety.
Barry learns that the bodies of Savary and Brosnan have been washed up dead, but doesn't fully believe it. They are in fact bodies of recently dead people obtained from a mortuary by the Unione, and faked to appear as Brosnan's and Savary's.
Barry, having blackmailed Romanov to pay him a lot more money for the rockets, also learns that Anne-Marie and Devlin are hiding out at the farm. He scopes out the area, realises that Brosnan is in fact still alive, and recruits local armed muscle, using Romanov's contacts.
He ambushes and kills Devlin (as he thinks), but the latter survives, thanks to body armour, provided by Jean-Paul. He leaves Brosnan to be killed by the henchmen, but Brosnan kills them and escapes. Anne-Marie is drugged and kidnapped by Barry to be taken to Paris.
Devlin and Brosnan follow, and force Romanov to tell them where Barry is; He has hired a light plane and is flying to England to collect the sunken rockets. With Unione contacts and assistance, Devlin and Brosnan follow. In a shootout, Barry is finally killed.
In a final twist, before he dies, Barry tells Brosnan that Ferguson has lied to him; Norah Cassidy actually died after being tortured by the French secret service.
Furious, he blames the Prime Minister, who knew the true story; that Ferguson needed Brosnan to be angry enough to undertake the job.
He manages, through various contacts, to gain access to the Prime Minister's office in Downing Street, disguised as a waiter with a catering firm at a Christmas party. Armed, he enters the PM's office. He could have shot her, but instead leaves a flower on her desk – a gesture he has previously employed, to prove that he can successfully penetrate security cordons, and escape undetected. He leaves, and is not seen again.
The end of the novel sees Anne-Marie and Devlin back in his cottage in Ireland.

The symbol of the title is the Union Flag, which is shown frequently. The film opens with a graphic of the Union Flag superimposed with a poem noting the symbolism of the flag in wartime:
The film tells the story of the Anglo-Zulu War from both the British and Zulu viewpoints. A love story is given for each side. On the British side a Boer farmer's daughter, Marie Moxter, is in a relationship with English soldier Preston Fanshall but desired by the villain, the German Carl Schneider. On the Zulu side a woman, Melissa, is in a similar predicament with her love, a warrior named Tambookie, and Dabomba, a villainous witchdoctor.
The film shows the British defeat at the 22 January 1879 Battle of Isandlwana. Fanshall is one of the few survivors of the battle, escaping to warn the British post at Rorke's Drift of the impending Zulu attack. The film also shows the doomed attempted escape of Lieutenants Teignmouth Melvill and Nevill Coghill from the battle with the Queen's Colour of the 24th Regiment of Foot. Melvill is shown kissing the colour as he dies.
The film depicts the Battle of Rorke's Drift with action sequences and the ahistorical presence of an artillery piece. Two black servants of the Moxters are shown treating the British wounded, Goba and a female servant. The British are victorious and walk across the Zulu dead to rally around the post's Union Flag, but Moxter is captured. She is treated well by the Zulu and taken back to their capital at Ulundi. The Zulu king Cetshwayo is shown as cruel, arbitrarily ordering Zulu women to be thrown from a cliff. The villainous German character Carl Schneider arrives at Ulundi, having sided with the Zulu. He makes advances on Moxter but is rescued by Goba who has travelled to her aid.
The film shows the British defeat at the 28 March Battle of Hlobane and at some point Moxter's father, Gert, is killed. The film goes on to show the arrival of British reinforcements, including Napoléon, the French Prince Imperial who is shown being welcomed by a crowd in Pietermaritzburg. The prince takes a central role for part of the film. His 1 June death in action during the second invasion of Zululand is a significant moment of the film. It includes a flashback of his meeting his godmother Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle before his departure for the front and being given a locket by his mother, Empress Eugénie, containing her portrait. As the prince dies he is shown looking at this locket. The prince's sword is retrieved by the Zulu who killed him and presented to Cetshwayo as proof of the prince's death, and they look at and discard the locket and a crucifix. Goba later discovers the prince's body and the film shows a funeral procession in Pietermaritzburg, with vast crowds of onlookers, with the locket placed atop the prince's coffin.
The final and decisive British victory at the 4 July Battle of Ulundi is shown. At this point Moxter escapes Zulu captivity, aided by Goba, who is killed by Tambookie. Goba is buried, draped in a Union Flag, by the British; the Prince Imperial's sword has been recovered and is laid atop the flag. At the film's end Tambookie dons Goba's clothing and becomes a servant to Moxter.

''The Third Rainbow Girl'' follows the true story of the murders of Vicki Durian and Nancy Santomero in Pocahontas County, West Virginia in June 1980 when the duo had been hitchhiking to the Rainbow Gathering. Though no one was prosecuted for the "Rainbow Murders" for 13 years, many suspected local residents who were "depicted as poor, dangerous, and backward." A local farmer was convicted in 1993 but was released when Joseph Paul Franklin confessed to the crime. Throughout the story's telling, Copley Eisenberg provides insight into the harmful stories told and believed about people who live in Appalachia. She also discusses how "this mysterious murder has loomed over all those affected for generations, shaping their fears, fates, and desires."
Reportedly displaying an "acerbic, yet tongue-in-cheek tone" according to Gay, the plot tracks five different stories concerning the characters' personal relationships.

Captain von Biederling has a new friend visiting his home in Naumburg - Count Camäleon. (the Count's name is similar to the German word for chameleon. The two want to invest in an "economic project" for the captain's benefit. The Count is not a comfortable guest; he is on the run after shooting another Count and is currently hiding with the Biederlings. A Kalmyk prince called Tandi, who is travelling through town as part of a European tour, makes a stop at Naumburg. When he captain announces to his wife that he is also expecting his old friend von Zopf from Trieste (Italy) to visit, Mrs von Biederling rebels. Von Zopf, who caused the death of her son, is most unwelcome to her. Mr von Biederling, an authoritarian and grumpy officer, does not accept his rebellious wife's objections during the heated quarrel which ensues.
Wilhelmine, the daughter of the house, suddenly has two suitors seeking her hand in marriage - the Count and the Prince. She does not know which one to choose; both are "rich and handsome". The von Biederlings decide to let their daughter make her own decision. Wihelmine wavers. At first she wants to remain single, but then she confesses her love to the Prince, and the young couple faints with happiness. The Count, however, does not give in, and still wants to marry the girl. For this reason he fights with the captain.
Wilhelmine and Prince Tandi get married. Von Zopf, who has just arrived, tells the Prince that he is in fact the son of the Biederlings and thus Wilhelmine's brother. The Prince faints again. Von Zopf had once taken the Biederling's son with him on a trip to Smyrna, an Ancient Greek city (located in present-day Turkey), from which the son never returned.
At the same time, the Count is involved in a bitter intrigue; Donna Diana, a Spanish Countess staying in Dresden with her faithful nurse Babet, has been following the hair-raising events in Naumberg. As the Count's "lawfully wedded" wife, Diana must now fear being poisoned at the instigation of her marriage sponsor - whilst Dian was in Spain she had been seduced by Camäleon. The seduced women then steals from her parents and poisons her own father "to please" the count.
The Prince goes to Leipzig, leaving Wilhelmine behind in Naumberg. She still loves him. Mrs von Biederling, on the other hand, calls the fugitive a monster. Her only son leaves without seeing his mother. Mrs von Biederling persuades her daughter to hate her husband so that she can forget him.
Babet, who in the meantime has arrived at the Biederlings with her mistress Donna Diana. She tells Wilhelmine that she switched the babies of Diana and Wilhelmine; Wilhelmine is the daughter of a Spanish count, a certain Aranda Velas. The switch happened in Dresden. Count Aranda Velas was staying there at the time with his family whilst employed in diplomatic services at the court. Mrs von Biederling travelled after her husband, the captain, to the Silesian war fron and left her newborn in Dresden. When the Biederlings returned, they were given the wrong baby - an ill one. The Velas family kept the healthy (Biederling) child.
Thus Wilhelmine and the Prince are not siblings, and the Prince and Donna are brother and sister.
At the end of the play, Diana attempts to murder her husband, the faithless Count. The Count pulls out the knife from his wound and says aloud "I have been murdered". He is bandaged up.
There is a happy end for Wilhelmine and the Prince.

One day on Planet Popstar, a dark vortex appears over Dream Land, sucking up everything in its path into an abandoned civilization called the New World. Kirby is among those sucked into the vortex and also finds himself in the New World, where he discovers that the Waddle Dees from Dream Land are being kidnapped by the native wildlife, the Beast Pack. Eventually, he finds the destroyed Waddle Dee Town and a chinchilla-like creature called Elfilin, who helped the Waddle Dees settle within Waddle Dee Town. After being rescued from the Beast Pack, Elfilin explains to Kirby that he and the Waddle Dees attempted to fight back but were overwhelmed. Kirby offers to help Elfilin rescue the missing Waddle Dees, and the two set off together.
Kirby and Elfilin make their way through the New World, saving Waddle Dees and defeating the Beast Pack's high council members. Eventually, the two discover that Kirby's longtime rival King Dedede is helping the Beast Pack for unknown reasons. After being defeated, Dedede captures Elfilin and escapes, with Kirby in pursuit. Kirby frees Dedede from the Beast Pack's mind control and ascends into their center of operations, Lab Discovera, to find Elfilin while Dedede stays behind to hold off the remaining Beast Pack members. The lab's pre-recorded narration explains that a powerful extradimensional being dubbed ID-F86 tried to invade the New World, but was captured by the planet's inhabitants and placed in the lab, where its ability to create space-time rifts was researched. Thirty years after research began, ID-F86 split into Elfilin and Fecto Forgo during a "warp-experiment incident" to which Elfilin escaped in the chaos, while Fecto Forgo was placed in permanent suspended animation within Lab Discovera's Eternal Capsule.
Kirby then meets the leader of the Beast Pack, a lion named Leongar, who is holding Elfilin captive. Leongar explains that the previous inhabitants of the New World used ID-F86’s power to depart for "a land of dreams," and that he intends to do the same by reuniting Fecto Forgo with Elfilin. After Leongar is defeated, Fecto Forgo awakens; speaking through Leongar, they reveal that they had formed the Beast Pack by controlling Leongar, possessed King Dedede, and kidnapped the Waddle Dees in order to resume their invasion. They break free from the Eternal Capsule and absorb Leongar, the Beast Pack, and Elfilin to become their original form, Fecto Elfilis. Kirby manages to weaken Fecto Elfilis enough to free Elfilin, but Fecto Elfilis creates a large portal back to Popstar, planning to crash the two planets into each other. Kirby narrowly defeats Fecto Elfilis by ramming a semi-trailer truck into them; he and Elfilin then find themselves back in Dream Land, where the portal is still open. Using all his power, Elfilin seals the rift between the two worlds, with himself in the New World. In the credits, though, it is revealed that Elfilin is able to open rifts to Popstar, and the inhabitants of the two worlds have become friends.
However, Leongar's soul remains trapped in an alternate dimension called Forgo Dreams, created by Fecto Forgo's great psychic power and populated by phantoms generated by their memories of the Beast Pack. Kirby and Elfilin travel to this dimension and rescue Leongar, who is possessed by Soul Forgo. Kirby defeats the possessed Leongar, separating Soul Forgo from his body. Before they can attack Kirby, a scarlet butterfly flies into the lab, absorbs them, and transforms into Morpho Knight, a valkyrie-like warrior who delivers souls to the afterlife. Kirby defeats Morpho Knight and Leongar, now Leon, is properly freed, though Soul Forgo partially absorbs Morpho Knight's power and vanishes in the aftermath. A mysterious portal opens within Waddle Dee Town's colosseum, and in an optional final encounter, Kirby combats the phantoms of Forgo Dreams before confronting the newly formed Chaos Elfilis. He defeats Chaos Elfilis in a final battle, and a lingering remnant of their soul approaches Elfilin. He accepts it into his heart, allowing his two halves to finally become whole.

They were the most competitive team to grasp the trophy but they lost it unexpectedly because of the last shot of discord. The team seemed to fall away when Weslie and Wolffy had a dispute after the finals, Wolffy stated that Weslie should have passed the ball to him for the final shot since Weslie's foot injured during the game with "Team Tigers", while Weslie disagreed as he suggested that Wolffy's shots were constant failed shots which makes no difference to the game results. However, their passion for getting the trophy of the basketball game as well as true friendships will not be destroyed easily. Jonie (Voiced by Deng Yuting) decided to assemble the members again and reform the "Team Defenders" to join the next Basketball City Cup. The play features a fictionalised retelling of the 1968 ATV TV debates between William F. Buckley Jr. and Gore Vidal, which take place during the Republican and Democratic Party conventions. Graham was inspired by a documentary film on the subject by Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon.
The play also contains other celebrities from the time such as David Brinkley, Andy Warhol, James Baldwin, and Aretha Franklin. They are used to set context and reflect the theme of how TV debates emerged in this period and have developed.
Shot with non-professional actors in black-and-white, In This Short Life contemplates the margin between documentary and fiction as parts of the story are derived from the lives of the performers. The film follows four intertwined lives in Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles: an elderly woman embarking on an affair; a mentally unstable man being evicted from his home; a frustrated actor waiting for his breakthrough; and a young female artist forced by a much-desired yet inconveniently-timed pregnancy to reassess the priorities in her life.
Set in Biscay, the plot follows the mishaps of Leyre, a well-off and happily divorced woman whose son has killed his father in a fit of rage, doing whatever it takes for the crime to remain unsolved, henceforth unleashing a wave of crimes across Bilbao and its surroundings.
It's been two years since Emma (Hayley Orrantia) lost her mom, and the wound still feels pretty fresh. She feels obligated to take care of her dad, Jack (Dermot Mulroney), and when she heads home to spend the holidays with him, discovers some incredibly distressing news: that her father is dating her high school frenemy Brandy (Janel Parrish). Emma is horrified by this revelation, to say the least, but Brandy tries her best to keep things friendly between the two of them. Unable to accept this despite efforts from both Brandy and Jack, Emma resolves to try to break the two of them up before Christmas – which is four days from now.
With the reluctant support of her best friend Charlyne (Emilie Modaff) and a hunky bartender named Josh (Michael Naizu), Emma tries to pull off some relatively mundane schemes to split up Brandy and her dad. Try as she might, however, the two seem determined to brush it off, even when things get tense. Emma ignores her own budding connection with Josh in favor of her obsession with ruining her dad's relationship, and puts Charlyne in an uncomfortable position at the same time. With important relationships (and Christmas!) at stake, Emma must come to her senses before it's too late.

Soos brings over his collection of comics to the Shack. However, Grunkle Stan confiscates them, due to his disdain of the medium, and locks them in a cursed chest. Dipper, Soos, Mabel, Ford and Wendy follow him into the cursed comic book and enter a world of shifting art styles and genres. They chase a mysterious purple-cloaked man, believing that he knows Stan's whereabouts. Managing to corner him, the cloaked guy sets off a bomb that sends everyone flying straight out of the story’s panels and into the margins.
Soos finds a sobbing Stan in a comic Stan drew in his childhood, which was rejected by publishers due to the excessive swear words in the comic. With the failure of his comic, Stan became resentful of the medium. Soos urges Stan to continue his childhood dream and apologise to the cursed chest, but Stan refuses to refer to the medium as "graphic novels". Before they are killed by the narration box, they are rejoined by the others, who defeat the narration box with white-out. The Grunkles, unaware of the switch, pick up the Anti-Mabel. Getting out of the outhouse, Mabel rallies the other Mabels for help in defeating Anti-Mabel.
En route back to their dimension, the Grunkles are overpowered by the Anti-Mabel. Mabel and her other versions arrive, fighting against the Anti-Mabel while rescuing Stan and Ford. The Anti-Mabel is overpowered and the Pines ejects her into space. Dropping the Pines off at the rift leading back to their dimension, the other Mabels thank them for their help before returning to their home dimensions. Upon their return, the Grunkles seal the rift and Mabel gives Dipper a blue journal with a pine tree on it which she got from Mabipper and hopes to start new adventures together.
This story is also known as ''The Pines Boys in: The Jersey Devil’s in the Details'' on its title page.
Set in the 1960's Young Stan and Ford are excited to spend the whole summer having adventures and working on their new boat, the Stan-O-War, but their dreams are quickly dashed when Stan is accused of stealing their father's gold chain and told he will be grounded for the entire summer. They cut a deal with their father that if they can find the true culprit within 24 hours that will prove Stan’s innocence, but otherwise he will be grounded.
Ford analyzes the clues surrounding the crime scene and comes to the conclusion hat the chain was stolen by the Jersey Devil, and the two boys set off in search of the cryptid. While stocking up on adventuring supplies, they meet the Sibling Brothers, snooty mystery-solvers who do not appreciate the freakish Pines brothers encroaching on their territory and tell them as much. After being insulted, Stan and Ford head down to the carnival to look for more clues, where they are at first rebuffed by the circus freaks until Ford shows them his own six fingers, whereupon they allow the boys to view a map of the Jersey Devil’s hideout tattooed onto the back of one of the performers.
This leads them to the nearby lighthouse, but they aren’t allowed inside to investigate further due to Stan’s delinquent reputation. To make matters worse, they discover the Siblings Brothers are also on the same trail as them, and the combination makes Stan so angry that he accidentally pushes the brothers off a sand dune. Believing them to be dead, the Pines decide to make the best of it and steal their clothes to impersonate them. They succeed and discover the path to the Jersey Devil’s cave.
While separated when exploring the cave, the Sibling Brothers reappear and present Ford with photographic proof that Stan is the one who stole the chain all along. Stan eventually returns with the Jersey Devil behind him
All four boys flee, but when Stan and Ford make it to safety Ford demands to know the reasons behind Stan’s actions. Stan tearfully confesses that he did take the gold chain, but only because he wanted to customize it for Father’s Day in the hopes of earning their dad’s approval for once, and he panicked when he accidentally broke the glass. Before Ford can reply, the Jersey Devil shows up again, but is captured by the Sibling Brothers, who give Ford the chance of taking credit for finding the monster if he gives them the pictures of Stan stealing the chain back so they can collect the reward—otherwise, they’ll frame both Pines twins for the theft. Ford allows Shanklin to attack the brothers and also free the Jersey Devil rather than betray his own brother, and after the humiliated Sibling Brothers call them freaks they are set upon by the circus folk as Stan and Ford head home. They are then grounded for the summer, but they find it isn’t so bad as they have each other.
The story ends with a shot of present-day Stan and Ford on the Stan-O-War II preparing to set sail, and a short ballad detailing some of their misadventures on the seas.
''Pictures from Afghanistan'' follows David Pratt as he returns to meets the Afghan Mujahedeen that he originally reported on during the 1980's Soviet–Afghan War.
Locations visited include the Russian Centre for Science and Culture, and the Kabul Zoo.
The film includes commentary about the September 11 attacks, and the ongoing heroin addiction in Kabul.
Humanity and empathy are recurring themes in the documentary, and Pratt discusses how he struggles with both while reporting on the war. The narrative from Pratt reminds viewers of the need to humanize Afghans.
It is set in 1981 in Spain, having the so-called "movida madrileña" as a backdrop. Sara, a virgin girl, gets drunk after being abandoned by her boyfriend Toni. She joins all-female punk act "Las Siux" (initially formed by Leo, Carmen and Chus) after being told to replace Chus, who is leaving over personal and artistic discrepancies with the rest of the band. She is set to make her debut onstage on 23 February 1981, a date otherwise marked by the Tejero's coup d'état attempt.
Set in Antrim during The Troubles in Northern Ireland in the 1980s, the book tells the take of two eleven year old children, May-Belle Mulholland and Pearse Furlong. Pearce is the son of a bullying Royal Ulster Constabulary officer, and May-Belle's father is regularly arrested and jailed, leaving her under the care of her violent mother.
The children, portrayed as victims rather than villains, begin to torment and torture insects, graduating to small animals, influenced by the selfish acts of their parents. May-Belle is drugged and pimped by her mother.
Their misbehavior destructively escalates in a city scarred by sectarian violence.
Towards the end of the book Pearse Furlong's mother and grandmother are killed by a car bomb that was planted to target his father.
The book uses dark comedy throughout.
Set in 16th-century Germany during the Lutheran reformation, the novel's protagonist is Melchior Paulus, who is tasked with investigating a mass murder in the township of Bideburg. Local military veteran and landowner Peter Stumpf is arrested for the murders, which were followed by cannibalism. His guilt is certain, but it is unknown if he is a human or a werewolf. Should Stumpf be deemed a werewolf, his family will also be punished. The plot therefore centers around an investigation undertaken by Paulus, who is attempting to avoid the collective family punishment.
The story is described as the first ever serial killer trial.

The next afternoon, Jaimie and Chloe speak on the phone. They apologize for the fight the morning before, and Jaimie tells her that he would go to New York with her. Chloe does not tell him about Van Ham. That night, Wyatt tries to call Carly, only to discover that his number has been blocked. This sets him off, and he pushes past Jaimie to confront Carly in person. After he leaves, Jaimie convinces Drew and Bella that they need to stop him. Once again, Wyatt drunkenly arrives at Carly’s as she approaches the house with her new lover. He storms out in an attempt to “talk,” and a pathetic brawl ensues between the two guys. Jaimie, Drew, and Bella arrive and break up the fight. The guys argue when they return to the house because Drew is upset and embarrassed by Wyatt’s antics. Jaimie convinces them to get pizza and walk around the quad, where Wyatt falls asleep. The next day, Chloe shows up at the guys’ place. She tells Jaimie that they need to take a break in order to figure things out. While no final decision is made, it can only be assumed that things won’t work out for the couple.

One year after her mother died in an accident, Oriko returns to writing poetry which she had given up when she married her husband Takashi. At a gathering of fellow writers, she meets Mitsuharu, a sculptor and former lover of her late mother. Oriko had despised her mother's changing affairs, although she had been a widow by then, and is herself blamed by her husband for her coldness. Mitsuharu informs her that he wasn't her mother's last lover, but that she had left him for a labourer, with whom she was seen drunk on the day when she was fatally hit by a truck.
One night, Oriko witnesses her husband's sister Yuko having sex with a construction worker in a hut, which she considers rape and reports to the police. Later, she returns to the worker's hut, where he tells her outright that she speculated on sleeping with him as well. He makes a forceful advance, to which Oriko, first reluctant, finally gives in. Oriko meets with Mitsuharu again, confessing that when she was younger, she was not only jealous of him as a daughter, but also as a woman. When she tells him of her encounter with the worker, Mitsuharu is outraged and hurt. Takashi learns of Oriko's meetings with Mitsuharu, but it is not before a confrontation between him, Oriko and Mitsuharu that Oriko and Mitsuharu start an affair.
When Mitsuharu's spine is broken after being buried under one of his stone sculptures, Oriko, still married, vows to stay with him, although it is unclear if he will gain back his ability to walk and his virility. In one of her recurring fantasies about her mother's accident, Oriko now sees herself as the victim and the construction worker at the truck's wheel. Some time later, she sees the worker at a train station, watching unmoved as he enters a train.
Setting: Fritz' apartment.
Theodor, a young man pursuing his doctorate, has invited two young women (Mizi and Christine) to the apartment of his friend Fritz. He is hoping to distract Fritz from his affair with a married woman by means of the "sweet girl" ("Süßes Mädel" in German) of Christine. There is a playful atmosphere to the engagement, yet while Mizi does not take her relationship with Theodor seriously, Christine is seemingly in love with Fritz. Whilst the four are eating dinner, the husband of the woman with which Fritz is having an affair turns up at the apartment with evidence of the affair in the form of letters which Fritz has written. The man challenges Fritz to a duel. After the man leaves, Fritz tells Theodor of what has happened, clearly distressed. Theodor attempts to comfort him, saying that duels almost always come to a good conclusion. Theodor and the two women then leave Fritz' apartment.
Setting: Christine's room.
Christine is getting herself ready to go out when her neighbour Katharina Binder enters. She invites Christine to go with her to a beer garden with music. A young man from Binder's family, who is very interested in Christine, will also be there. Christine refuses and leaves the apartment. Shortly afterwards, her father, Weiring, a violin player at the Theater in der Josefstadt, returns from a rehearsal. Weiring and Katharina stay and talk about Christine's beliefs and the lives of young women in general. Katharina thinks that Christine should not associate with Mizi and that it would be good for her to marry the aforementioned relative of Binder. On the other hand, Weiring thinks that young women should enjoy their youth. Mizi enters, and Christine returns. Katharina and Weiring leave the apartment. Christine tells them that Fritz, who was supposed to meet up with her, never came to their meeting place. Eventually Fritz comes to the apartment. Christine is very happy and so is he, having seemingly overcome his feelings for the married woman with whom he was having an affair. After Theodor arrives, the two say goodbye and claim to be going away for a few days - ostensibly to Fritz' family estate, but in reality because of the duel.
Setting: Christine's room, a few days later.
Christine suffers greatly from Fritz' absence. After she confesses her love for Fritz to her father, she learns from Theodor, Mizi and her father that Fritz died in the duel. She is grief-stricken, knowing that he died for another woman, and runs out of the flat in the hurry. Whether she kills herself at the end of the play or not is left open.

''Episode I.'' Aristocratic SS engineer ''Obersturmbannführer'' Helmut Von Schraeder in charge of extermination machinery in Treblinka makes a denotator for the Hitler assassination plot. After the failure of the plot he goes into hiding by assuming a new face and voice and the identity of an inmate Jew named Ben Grossman with the help of a blackmailed plastic surgeon, who was practicing on the inmates. Von Schraeder arranges to be sent to a French camp soon to be liberated by the Allies. However he lands in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, which was liberated much later. Here he makes some Jewish friends. After the liberation by the Allies, he unsuccessfully tries to go to Switzerland, where he has a sizeable stash in a bank, but he finds himself on a way to Palestine under British mandate with his new Jewish friends. On his way he kills a British officer in a skirmish and becomes an internationally wanted man and wins the respect of the Jews. The book tells about Windham growing up in Atlanta during the Depression, as his family, which had once been prosperous, gradually becomes impoverished. The Victorian home of the family, a remainder of their prosperous past, is demolished, and young Donald keeps a piece of stained glass as a reminder of "fading grandeur". Meanwhile his mother is struggling to cope with the situation, and is forced to rely on her relatives. The book covers Windham's childhood, through his graduation from high school and his decision to move to New York City thereafter. It evokes "with faint but unmistakable nostalgia the Atlanta of the early decades of the modern century."
The book consists of stories detailing the timeline of Scott's life, NASCAR career, and the struggles he had growing up as a black man.
Scott was born in Danville, Virginia on August 29, 1921. His early childhood consisted of many struggles, including his parents divorcing due to clashing personalities and experiencing segregation. Throughout his life, he had promised himself to always "be his own boss", wanting to avoid an average job at a textile mill.
After buying a Ford Model T, he would become a mechanic and land a job at the local taxi company. During his span at the Danville Taxi Company, he would meet his wife, Mary Belle Coles at the age of 19, after Coles needed a ride. Scott would have a short stint in the United States Army in 1943 due to him being drafted for World War II.
After a failed stint as a car shop business owner, Scott would turn to bootlegging moonshine, and would become recognized for evading the police and having seemingly ludicrous stories on how he would evade the police. During his free time, he would watch races at the local Danville Fairgrounds Speedway, wishing that one day, he could race there. With help from fellow bootlegger, Bob McGinnis, Scott would catch a stroke of luck. The Dixie Circuit, a local Southern racing series, was looking for a black man to drive as a marketing gimmick, and would choose Scott to drive. While he had a rough start, within days, Scott would start to beat many regulars, and even win the series. To Scott's surprise, he did not see much discrimination among fans and drivers, and many would respect and defend him as a racer. However, Scott would still have to remain "tough-skinned" all his life, as still, many would still call him the n-word and heckle at Scott, with one notable example being Lynchburg Speedway's announcer calling Scott "the world's only n*gger driver." After gaining recognition in more local Virginia racing series, Scott decided that joining NASCAR would help Scott rise the ranks.
In 1954, Scott would get approved by NASCAR official Maurice Poston to race in NASCAR, breaking the color barrier in the league, to no public attention. In Scott's early NASCAR years, he would race in regional-level races, facing racism from promoters, drivers, and fans. However, as in the local racing series, Scott would gain the respect of his fellow drivers and fans due to his work ethic and talent on the track. In the same year, then NASCAR CEO Bill France Sr. promised in a handshake deal that Scott would be treated fairly as any white racing driver in NASCAR, a promise that stuck with Scott.
After seven years of Scott honing his skills in NASCAR's local and modified divisions, Scott would buy a car from fellow driver Buck Baker, and announced to his family that Scott would be racing in NASCAR's top series, the NASCAR Grand National Series. He would make his first start on March 4, 1961, at Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds, to little fanfare, becoming the first black driver to race in NASCAR's top series. He would receive more discrimination, even being banned from Darlington Raceway and its races by its president Bob Colvin, the Rebel 400 and the Southern 500, which were at the time both races held as a celebration for the Confederacy. Scott would still however do well during his rookie season, finishing 32nd in the standings with 4,726 points, the most points received by a rookie.
Wendell's second season started with more discrimination, as while many liked Scott as a person, "it was the idea of a black outdoing them that got them disturbed", according to NASCAR official Art Mitchell. From near fights with driver Bob Welborn for him calling Scott the n-word to only being called by his first name in driver's meetings compared to others being called by their last names, Scott would have to endure racial discrimination from many within the NASCAR community. As Wendell started his third season in 1963, hopes were optimistic, but quickly diminished after being snubbed of his winnings at Riverside International Raceway and a blown engine while qualifying for the 1963 Daytona 500. At the same time, racial tensions were at an all-time high throughout the United States with the civil rights movement in full-swing, causing even more to discriminate against Scott. Scott would take drastic measures to avoid discrimination, including faking being white and being racist to his own sons to get service at truck stops.
In the third race of the 1964 season, Scott would race at the 1964 Jacksonville 200. After Richard Petty had steering issues late in the race, Scott would take the lead with 25 to go in a car previously owned by renowned driver Ned Jarrett. The scoreboard had gone blank, and on the final lap, no white flag was waved. As Scott completed his final lap, no checkered flag was waved. Buck Baker, who was in second two laps down, took the checkered flag and was initially declared the winner. While Baker had his victory celebrations, drivers and fans were confused, as they thought that Scott had won. After NASCAR held a closed meeting for two hours, with spectators, the beauty queen, and Baker gone, NASCAR declared Scott the winner of the race. While NASCAR had insisted they had made an honest mistake, others thought that NASCAR was trying to prevent a race riot.
Heading deeper into the 1964 season, Scott would still face usual discrimination, including being disqualified from races under dubious circumstances and once again being banned from Darlington. Even worse, his sons were now facing discrimination too, but Wendell would defend his sons from hecklers and attackers. However, Wendell would also receive much more support from fans and drivers alike, with many cheering Wendell on as an underdog. Journalist Morris Stephenson had even compared Wendell to achieving as much as Martin Luther King Jr. for the civil rights movement. He would become a local hero in his town of Danville. At the end of the season, it was Wendell's best season yet- finishing 12th in points and getting some small manufacturer support from Ford.
In 1966, while Bill France Sr. became friends with controversial Alabama governor George Wallace, Wendell would buy a new car from Holman-Moody, only to find out the car was essentially broken. The car was rebuilt in 12 days and Scott would still drive the car to impressive finishes with help from Ford boycotting NASCAR, including a 13th-place finish at the 1966 Daytona 500 and podium finishes at local short tracks in North Carolina. At the end of it all, he would finish sixth in points and winning $23,051, more than he had ever earned before. However, many were now starting to question Wendell's age, as at the age of 45, he was one of the oldest drivers in NASCAR. In addition, his son and crucial pit crew member, Wendell Scott Jr., was drafted for the Vietnam War.
In the 1967 season, Wendell faced a downward spiral in performance, with 16 DNFs due to mechanical issues. Scott would have to drive more conservatively, to earn enough money to pay bills. In turn of this, he found himself back in the pack more. He would finish 10th in points, with no top 5s and fewer top 10s then last season. In 1968, while Alabama International Motor Speedway was being built, Wendell Jr., would come back, only for him to be significantly different from what he used to be. He was reported to be more angry and bitter, and arguments occurred often. To make matters worse, Wendell had expected his sons to work as hard as he did, and if they didn't, Wendell would chew them out publicly, angering Wendell Jr. more. Wendell struggled with DNQs and poor results in both the 1968 and 1969 seasons. After a controversial boycott at the 1969 Talladega 500, Scott became cautious of NASCAR officials. In the 1970 season, he was once again banned from numerous tracks and races, once again struggled with mechanical issues, and was forced to still keep trying to make races, otherwise he would be let off of NASCAR's money-deal for racers. In addition, NASCAR was transferring to the modern era, with NASCAR races on dirt, Scott's specialty, eliminated from the schedule.
In 1971, he would once again face extreme difficulties with a slew of mechanical problems and DNQs. The Scott family had to remortgage their house due to a lack of money. In 1972, NASCAR would make a series of major changes, with a notable example being NASCAR landing a new corporate sponsor, the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, with its brand name Winston sponsoring the series. As Scott failed to qualify for more and more races, he would eventually go down a series to the NASCAR Grand National East Series. While Scott would still race in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, he would be plagued by lack of funding and equipment. However, with some help from millionaire Richard Howard, he would be able to qualify for prestigious races that year. However, with his reputation now being put as a has-been who was majorly uncompetitive, the Scott family were embarrassed at the lack of dignity. The season would show Scott's worst season yet, with the family suffering even more financial troubles. However, Scott would still want to race, and in 1973, an opportunity came up for Scott was too good to pass.
At the 1973 Winston 500, with help from Holman-Moody, loans to friends, taking out mortgages, Scott saw a golden opportunity to give Scott a big break in racing for him to continue. On lap 10, Scott was involved in a big crash that involved over 20 cars, with Scott being majorly injured in the process. Many thought that Scott was dead, but he was able to get out, with major injuries. He was reported to be covered in blood, have a fractured left leg, fractured pelvis in numerous places, broke three ribs, to have ripped most of the skin from his left forearm, and had seriously injured his right kidney. His arm bone was also visible and poking out, according to Frank Scott, Wendell's son. Along with that, the car that Scott had was essentially destroyed. After a couple one off races in the Winston Cup Series and Grand National East Series, Scott would eventually announce his retirement. To make matters worse, his son, Wendell Jr., was facing 61 years in prison for burglary and grand larceny.
Scott was praised after his retirement. He would have a loosely-based movie that showed his life in 1977, called Greased Lightning, with Scott being played by Richard Pryor. Within later years, he would become an active member in his local church. He was praised by civil rights activists and was invited to parties, praised for breaking the color barrier in a Southern sport in the Jim Crow era. However, Scott wondered how different his life and career could have been if he had come later, and if he had factory support. Still in debt from the wreck in 1973, he would see Willy T. Ribbs with multi-million dollar sponsorship, qualify for the 1989 Indianapolis 500, becoming the first black driver to qualify for the Indianapolis 500. He said to himself, "I came along too soon."
Scott died on December 23, 1990. Scott's legacy remained vital to many black drivers in NASCAR in the years to come, including Bill Lester, Chase Austin, and (not mentioned in the book) Bubba Wallace. Scott had only been remembered by many as the first black driver to compete and win in NASCAR's top series, but he wasn't remembered for the struggles and hardships Scott had to face. Humpy Wheeler suggested that NASCAR hold a "Wendell Scott Day" or that Wendell Scott be inducted into the then-new NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2010 (he was eventually inducted in 2015). However, many do remember that Scott had broken a barrier that was unthinkable- he had become the first black driver in a sport that was stereotyped for being a "white, Southern" sport within fire of both the Jim Crow era and civil rights movement, no funding, less publicity from other black athletes like Jackie Robinson, and the challenges of being discriminated by many of NASCAR's higher-ups and no factory support. He is remembered for determination and work ethic, as while he had faced many challenges, he would keep on going, no matter what.
Cara's (Emma Ho) parents are horrified when they discover she used the strange, dog-like creatures in the wilderness outside of the colony to resurrect her dead younger brother Xan (Ian Ho), who returns home visibly infected by the protomolecule. Cara's father confirms his fears by watching in horror as Xan immediately heals from a knife wound, and decides to notify the soldiers. Cara and Xan flee into the woods, with Xan pondering why his parents were afraid of him. When Marco Inaros contacts the renegade Martian Admiral Duarte for aid, the latter dismisses him, calling Inaros a useful distraction, but that he was busy, having gods to kill.
Aboard the ''Pella'', Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander), fools Camina Drummer's (Cara Gee) Belter attack fleet into attacking the wrong ship and uses the resulting misdirection to cripple Drummer's fleet. As the ''Pella'' starts to move away, Drummer prepares to crash her ship into it in a suicide mission that would destroy them both. Liang Walker (Stuart Hughes) does so in her stead, his destroyed ship badly damaging The Free Navy flagship.
Limping back to the Ring, Admiral Duarte (Dylan Taylor) denies Inaros refuge, rearmament or repair from Laconia, effectively abandoning him. Filip (Jasai Chase Owens), disillusioned with his father's goals after the death of Rosenfeld Guoliang (Kathleen Robertson), quietly leaves the ''Pella'' in a small ship and takes the name 'Filip Nagata'.
In an attempt to wrest control of the rail gun emplacements on the Ring, the ship uses a remote-controlled ice freighter, the ''Giambattista'' to deliver different strike teams to the Ring Station amidst a seeming accidental spill of several hundred cargo containers; despite the success of the distraction, the teams are overwhelmed by the withering firepower of renegade Martian troops stationed to protect the rail guns. Bobbie Draper (Frankie Adams) manages to single-handedly destroy the power source for the rail guns, rendering them inert, and the ''Rocinante'' wipes out the remaining Free Navy fighters.
Knowing that Inaros' Free Navy fleet is on its way, Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper) suggests that instead of trying to mount a counter-attack, they instead concentrate on awakening the entities dormant within the Ring. Believing she is also killing her son aboard the ''Pella'', she momentarily hesitates before detonating the ''Giambattista's'' energy core, serving as the catalyst that awakens the Ring entities which waste no time in obliterating Marco Inaros and his ship. Nagata is overcome with guilt, knowing that while she has ended the war, she believes she has ended the life of her only son in doing so.
In the aftermath of the trade union formation, Bobbie becomes the new pilot for the ship. Clarissa Mao (Nadine Nicole), discovering that the enhancements she had received have considerably shortened her life, chooses to remain aboard the ship as a mechanic under Amos (Wes Chatham). Holden and Nagata remain together, enjoying their hard-earned moment of peace.
The representatives of Earth, Mars and the Belter Union gather to discuss the formation of a transport union to deal with trade head to and from the Ring, but the Belters, led by Drummer, balk at potentially being constantly outvoted in any substantive decision-making by the Inners. Holden, in attendance, points out that Inaros was as successful as he was by taking advantage of the Belter fear that the fruits of the future would always be held back from them, and therefore denying them a future. Earth's Secretary General Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo) then proposes that the trade union be independent, based at Medina Station and led by someone without allegiances to any faction; she nominates Holden, as he would be an acceptable choice amongst all three groups. He reluctantly agrees, but upon official acceptance of the post, he immediately resigns and appoints Drummer in his place, to ensure true parity among the Inners and the Belters.
Before the episode fades to end credits, the viewer sees the Ring alone in the darkness of space, occasionally ripple with red, and a faint blue outline of Duarte's protomolecule warship station can be seen in the center of the Ring.

The transfer begins with the appeal of Ivan Urgant, who is in the editing room of Evening Urgant. He reveals that the production team made the decision not to shoot the New Year's special, as due to events related to the COVID-19 pandemic, they will have 'no desire, no mood and no strength.' Instead he reports that the audience will be shown the Italian New Year's music show 'Ciao, 2020!'.
After the introduction, the first musical number begins, called 'Cinque minuti', which is performed by the host Giovanni Urganti (played by Urgant) and the group 'Tutti Frutti'. The host announces the names of celebrities who are participating in the episode, and the audience is shown with cards with greetings on them. Urganti introduces his co-hosts Matteo Crustaldi, Alessandro Houdini and Allegra Michele, who appear on stage with him.
Next comes the number 'Crush' by Claudia Cocchi and Niletto Niletti, the latter appearing on stage in roller skates. The program continues with an interview with porn director Alessandro Pallini, who on the screen of the video camera shows the presenter a fragment from his new film, at the sight of which Urganti becomes delighted, exclaiming “Fantastic! Film without women! Only men!”, he calls the film crew to watch the clip with him and Pallini.
Next, Joni performs the song "La Cometa" in front of a huge screen, on which close-ups of the artist are mixed with shots of the starry sky. Urganti and Crustaldi interview Ornella Buzzi, after which the duo of Arti and Asti perform the song "Bambina balla", moving around the stage on an illuminated crescent moon decoration. Houdini interviews Milanka and Gerolomo Paffuto.
The Crema de la Soda group performs the song "Piango al Tecno" with a backup dancer consisting of a gladiator, a player from the Turin Juventus, a dancer in a white cassock dressed as Pius XIII from the TV series "The Young Pope", Donatella Versace 's double, a Swiss guard and dancers dressed as Madonna from the cover of the Like a Virgin album.
Urganti and Michele raffle lotto prizes among the spectators along with Gigi. Dora sings "Innamorata" followed by a commercial for "Buono" cleaner, in which Crustaldi, dressed as Santa Claus, finds his wife (played by Allegra Michele) in bed with another man, after which she invites Crustaldi's character to join them, which he does.
Urganti interviews Nicola Basca and Daniele Milocchi, who then sing the song "La Baldoria". Urganti interviews the group "Tutti Frutti", after which Giorgio Creddi performs the song "Ragazza copertina". Urganti interviews the actresses of the Quattro putane series: Barbara Cinicchio, Elenuccia Michelucci and Irene Nosa. The host asks where the fourth actress (a reference to the name of the series, "quattro" from the Italian "four"), Irene Gorbachetti, to which he receives the answer "She works!" After that, the actresses compete in swallowing spaghetti with Alessandro Houdini, and Giovanni Dorni, with a ballet in robot costumes, performs a number for the song "Cicchi", which is the soundtrack to the series.
Urganti and Houdini interview Ida Galicci, after which Giulia Ziverti performs the song "Credo". Urganti interviews Enrico Carlacci. The group "Piccolo Grandi" performs the song "Mamma Maria", after which Houdini presents them with a diploma for winning the Eurovision Song Contest.
The program reaches its grand finale when Pope Pippo II appears on the stage, sanctioning the beginning of the New Year by lighting the lights on the tree with an extension cord. At the end, Urganti, Soldinetta and Vittorio Isaiah sing the song "Chiesi io al frassino" and the participants of the program make New Year's wishes to the audience.
