Draft:Suicide of a Dead Man (Novel)

This novel tells about a love story between a 40-year-old man and a teenage girl and how this love turned him from a lover to being helpless and weak.

Fragile as the World

Vera and John are two teenagers in love. Apparently, their life does not present them with any problems. They both have family and friends who love them. As the teenagers that they are, their whole life has been defined by others. The couple feels they have no space, and especially no time, to live their passion. Besides being busy with their studies, their homes are far apart. But the biggest problem is that they feel that their own time does not allow them to love each other.

Trying to define their future, Vera and João start an escape plan. With the same innocence with which they participate in a children's game, they flee from their homes, and move away from their land. The couple isolates themselves in a forest. There, they make a pact: they will never be separated "for anything in this world."

Vera tells John a secret that she had never revealed even to her family. She describes an experience, memory or imagination, from when she was a child. She found herself in danger, trapped in a place with no way out. With all her faith, Vera asked Mother Nature to open a crack that would allow her to get out of there. A giant rock moves, freeing her. Upon hearing the story, João believes her.

A bond of complicity between the couple and union with the Nature of the forest gradually becomes more intense. But Vera, on the other hand, begins to feel weaker and eventually falls ill. João finds himself in a dilemma: on the one hand, he does not want to break the pact that they will not be separated "for anything in this world," but on the other, he wants to leave her alone to go for help.

He carries her and they lay on a boat. Many years later, a child sees them laying in the boat, she suspects they're dead but cannot confirm. The child tells her mother and she tells her to go to sleep.

South Park The Streaming Wars Part 2

Amidst the streaming wars, the drought in South Park has significantly worsened. In court, Eric Cartman sues his mother Liane, forcing Stan Marsh, Tolkien Black, Butters Stotch and Kyle Broflovski to testify about how Cartman used the money they earned to pay for his breast implants; the case is ultimately dismissed. Elsewhere, Randy Marsh wakes up on a bench, surrounded by fearful onlookers. Police tranquilize Randy and transport him to the hospital, where Detective Harris explains that Randy went "full nuclear Karen". Meanwhile, Tolkien searches the late Robert Cussler's abandoned home for clues about his missing father, Steve. When he tells Cartman of Cussler's death, Cartman surmises that Tolkien is having sex with Liane, believing it to be why she is standing up to Cartman.

At a Denver city council meeting, Pi Pi proposes his pitch deck to have his water park, and subsequently the entirety of Colorado, run entirely on urine. His service is endorsed by celebrities who promoted cryptocurrency and NFTs. Meanwhile, a remorseful Randy abandons his marijuana farming business and resumes his geology profession, searching for a solution to the drought. As Denver is about to commission Pi Pi's service, Randy arrives and proposes building a desalination plant, which Denver accepts. Enraged, Pi Pi orders his staff, including ManBearPig, to get rid of Randy. Cartman and Butters spy on Tolkien at his house; when Tolkien confronts them, Cartman reveals his research on the drought. Cartman, Butters and Tolkien tell Harris of their research; Harris, believing that Steve is behind the drought, reveals that ManBearPig is likely being exploited as it fears for its mate, PigBearGirl; and their offspring, Chuck Chuck. When Harris reveals a photo of Steve at the water park, the boys realize he must be there. Steve regains consciousness in a sewer; noticing his patched-up wound, he realizes that PigBearGirl and Chuck Chuck tended to him.

Construction of the desalination plant begins as Randy realizes that there will be an issue transporting saltwater uphill to the plant. As Cartman, Butters and Tokien survey the waterpark, they locate an employee entrance near the water slide seen in Harris' photo. Inside, they discover Chuck Chuck before being trapped by security. Pi Pi tells the boys his plans to have everyone invest in his urine service and eliminate the boys. Harris visits Linda Black at Credigree Weed, revealing his intent to kill Steve if he finds him, while Steve eavesdrops on their conversation. Randy receives a call from his coworkers that ManBearPig, referred to as "climate change," has destroyed the plant, presumably in search of Randy. Steve finds Randy and tells him of Pi Pi's plan. Randy's family convinces him to revert to his Karen persona, using a strain of marijuana Sharon had saved.

As Pi Pi films his latest commercial, Randy, as Karen, forces his way into the waterpark and reveals Pi Pi's plan to everyone present. The distraction allows the kids to escape with the help of Chuck Chuck and PigBearGirl. Tolkien and ManBearPig are reunited with their respective families. Now free from Pi Pi's control, ManBearPig decapitates him. Randy convinces Cartman and other women with breast implants to drain their saline implants and power the desalination plant. The plant restores water to the Denver area as ManBearPig and his family return to the woods. When Linda suggests that Chuck Chuck should be killed before he ends up like his father, Stan instead suggests that the people reach out to him, but Randy dismisses this, inviting everyone to simply smoke some marijuana.

Point and Shoot (Better Call Saul)

Opening

A shoe washes onto an ocean beach, and its mate lies nearby. An open car door reveals classical music playing on the radio and a wallet and wedding band on the dashboard. The car's vanity license plate, "NAMAST3" shows it to be Howard Hamlin's green Jaguar XJ8.

Main story

After killing Howard, Lalo Salamanca provides Jimmy McGill with an address and a loose description of Gus Fring, and instructs Jimmy to drive there and shoot him. Jimmy convinces Lalo to send Kim Wexler instead. After she leaves, Lalo ties Jimmy to a chair, gags him, and leaves. Mike Ehrmantraut apprehends Kim at Gus's front door. She explains that Lalo is holding Jimmy, then points out Gus's body double as matching the description Lalo provided. Mike orders his men to her apartment.

When Kim says Lalo agreed to let her switch places with Jimmy, Gus realizes the shooting attempt is a diversion, so he drives to Lavandería Brillante. Lalo is there intending to obtain video evidence for Don Eladio of Gus's planned meth lab, which will prove Gus's disloyalty to the cartel. He ambushes Gus and kills his bodyguards, then forces Gus to show him the lab. Gus leads Lalo to the site, which Lalo describes for Eladio using details provided by Casper. Gus insults Eladio and the Salamancas as Lalo videotapes him, but his speech is a distraction that enables him to trigger a power outage that turns off the lights. In the darkness he reaches the handgun he previously hid, then fires several shots at Lalo. After turning the lights on, Gus realizes that he is bleeding, while Lalo is fatally wounded. Lalo laughs as he succumbs to his injuries and dies.

Jimmy and Kim are reunited at their apartment. Mike tells them Lalo will not return, and his men remove Howard's body. Mike explains that Howard's death will be made to look like a suicide by drowning and instructs them to maintain their ruse that Howard was a cocaine addict, which will make the story more plausible. As Gus's wound is treated at his home, Mike supervises the burial of Howard and Lalo in a shared grave beneath the meth lab, but first Mike removes Howard's shoes, wallet, and wedding ring.

Fun and Games (Better Call Saul)

Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler leave for work while Mike Ehrmantraut and his men remove all traces of Howard Hamlin's murder from their apartment. When they return, Jimmy reassures Kim that they will eventually forget what happened, but Kim does not react.

Gus Fring meets with members of the cartel at Don Eladio's home. Juan Bolsa reads Hector Salamanca's statement claiming Gus killed Lalo Salamanca, since Lalo contacted Hector after his supposed death but is now missing. With no proof of Lalo's initial survival, Eladio dismisses Hector's request for revenge. To keep the peace, Eladio divides the Albuquerque-area drug territory: the Salamancas will control the South Valley, while Gus receives the area to the north. Gus later tells Mike to find a new crew to resume construction of the meth lab immediately. To celebrate, Gus visits a wine bar and converses with David, his favorite sommelier, enjoying his company before cutting the visit short. Mike informs Nacho Varga's father Manuel Varga of Nacho's death, and says the Salamancas will no longer target him. Manuel dismissively tells Mike he is no different from the criminals with whom he associates.

Jimmy and Kim attend Howard's memorial at HHM and learn the firm will downsize and rebrand. Howard's widow, Cheryl, questions them about the circumstances of Howard's death. Kim deflects blame by suggesting Cheryl failed to notice Howard's supposed drug problem, causing Cheryl to break down in tears. The next morning, Kim surrenders her law license. At home, Jimmy begs Kim to reconsider but finds she has packed her belongings. Kim tells Jimmy she loves him, but they are bad for each other and will only hurt those around them. She reveals that she knew of Lalo's survival before he appeared at their apartment but did not tell Jimmy for fear it would jeopardize their scheme against Howard, which she enjoyed but now regrets. She then tearfully leaves him.

An unspecified amount of time later, Jimmy has fully embraced his Saul Goodman persona, living in a large mansion, frequenting prostitutes, and driving a Cadillac DeVille. He arrives at his newly renovated office and prepares to meet with clients.

However, his music is about the beauty of nature that his very work destroys. Even though he is a committed communist, his directness and willfulness clash with the prevalent conformism and lead to his exclusion from the Socialist Unity Party of Germany. He takes up the work as an IM in the hopes of improving working conditions and health and safety protection for his fellow workers. Only after the collapse of the GDR does he realize how much harm he could have caused. At the same time, he learns he too was spied on by friends and acquaintances for the Stasi, although his Stai file has disappeared from the Stasi Records Agency. In an interview, he refuses to apologize in the usual formulaic way that was common for former IMs at the time. He reasons that having read his reports to the Stasi, sometimes referred to as a "perpetrator file" (German: ''Täterakte''), he first and foremost couldn't forgive himself. Instead, he personally reaches out to several of his colleagues and band members, confessing to having been an IM in the past.

As Gundermann becomes a father and his wife expects him to spend less time on tour and on his music, he promises improvement.

In the end, he reconciles with his band members and the audience after his genuine confession about his ties to the Stasi.

After a tornado kills the only kind teacher, Cora, and Cora's husband, the three escape downriver in a canoe with Cora's orphaned daughter Emmy.

The group is soon captured by Jack, a WWI veteran with a missing eye and scarred face which leads Odie to call him The Pig-scarer. Over several days, the children and Jack grow closer, and they help him build a still. But when Emmy accidentally drops Jack's liquor bottle and he threatens her, Odie shoots him in the chest with Clyde's gun.

Fleeing further down-river, the boys learn from news articles they are being accused of kidnapping Emmy and may be executed. Drawn by beautiful music and food, the children join a Revival meeting of the Gideon Crusade, a snake-handling church led by Sister Eve, who performs faith healings. After Odie catches camp manager Sid paying off the recipients of "miraculous" healings, he confronts Sister Eve about her frauds. This startles Emmy, who accidentally releases rattlesnake Lucifer, who poisons Albert. As they wait for antivenom to arrive, Sister Eve explains that she had cured the actors once and let Sid convince her to hire them to "prime the pump" in new towns. The antivenom arrives just in time, but the story's publicity forces the children to flee again.

The children hide on an island near Mankato, Minnesota, discovering a murdered Indian child. This deeply disturbs Mose, who asks to be called by his Sioux name Amdacha (Broken-to-Pieces) from then on. Papers in the local library reveal his namesake great-uncle was killed in the mass execution there during the Dakota War of 1862. Odie gets lost in a Bonus Army riot. Following harmonica music to a local Hooverville, he joins the Scofields, an extended family of dispossessed Kansas farmers fleeing the Dust Bowl. Reunited, Albert repairs the Scofields's car and Odie develops a romance with their girl Maybeth. He gives their alcoholic father gas money, and the groups separate.

The children reach Saint Paul, Minnesota, stay with lesbian restaurant owners Gertie and Flo in the Jewish ghetto, learn to hop freight, and go downtown to mail a letter to Maybeth. Odie is confronted by Jack, who survived the shot to his chest. The other three children decide to stay in St. Paul, but Odie goes on alone.

Odie rides freight all the way to St. Louis, reaching Aunt Julie's house, only to gradually realize she is a madam and the house a brothel. Stunned, he wanders the huge St. Louis Hooverville until he stumbles across the Gideon Crusade, where Sister Eve encourages him to return to Julie. Doing so, Julie explains that she is actually Odie's mother. The Brickmans force their way into the room. It is revealed that Thelma Brickman was once a prostitute with Julie, but killed Odie's bootlegging father Zeke. She shoots and injures Odie. Julie throws herself on Thelma and both fall from the window, killing Thelma and paralyzing Julie.

In an epilogue, Odie says he eventually married Emmy and tells this (embellished) story to their great-grandchildren. Clyde Brickman served life in prison; Albert died in World War II; "The Silent Sioux Slugger" Amdacha quit baseball to reform the Indian education system.

Last Term at Malory Towers

In her final year, Darrell returns to Malory Towers for her final term. She is now Head Girl at the school.

After conducting new girls to Miss Grayling's study, to hear the Headmistress' inspiring words one last time, the two agree that the only real failure in Darrell's year is Gwendoline. Darrell undertakes to do what she can to try and set her on a more positive path before it is too late.

The girls discuss their futures. Mary-Lou will train as a children's nurse, Clarissa and Bill plan to open a riding school close to Malory Towers, Belinda will train as an artist and Irene will study music. Darrell, Sally, Alicia and Betty plan to go to university. Gwen boasts that she will be going to a finishing school in Switzerland. To the other girls' disgust, she boasts about the cruel and unkind exchanges she had with her father to emotionally cajole him into agreeing to her plans. Even Mary-Lou walks away, sickened.

New girl Amanda Chartelow joins from her previous school. Another newcomer is Suzanne, Mam'zelle Dupont's niece. Amanda is tall, physically strong, and plans to compete in the Olympic Games. She is dismissive of the games culture at Malory Towers, saying that there is a second former at the school with outstanding potential whom nobody has noticed. When Moira, now Games Captain, challenges her, she names June. Amanda undertakes to coach June in tennis and swimming, predicting that she will be in the school second teams by the end of the term. June realises that Amanda's motive is to be proved right, rather than any personal interest in her, but accepts Amanda's offer. However Amanda's tough training regime soon leads to friction between them, and June gives up.

Darrell invites Gwen to her study for a talk in an attempt to fulfil her promise to Miss Grayling. Gwen is sulky and obstinate, and finally maliciously tells Darrell that she is glad that she has made her father miserable: ''"It will teach him a lesson!"'' Darrell, appalled, reports her failure to Miss Grayling, who forebodingly predicts that a terrible punishment is in store for Gwen.

Jo Jones in the Second Form is unpopular because of her loud and boastful behaviour. Her father is similarly loud and boorish. Jo receives five pounds from him as pocket money, which she loses. It is found by Matron, but Jo is unwilling to claim it as it is more than girls are permitted to have. Jo decides to remove the money from Matron's office, but inadvertently takes nine pounds instead of five. Later, in a separate incident, the entire Second Form is punished when Jo fails to own up to breaking a school rule. An exasperated form punishes Jo by sending her to Coventry.

Jo decides to run away from the school, taking her friend, the weak and easily influenced first former Deirdre Parker with her. Soon after, Miss Grayling receives a report from the police that two of the stolen notes have been presented at local shops by two Malory Towers girls. it is soon clear that the two girls are Jo and Deirdre, who are soon found and brought back to the school. Miss Grayling deals with Deirdre first, and recognising genuine contrition, asks Matron to deal with her. Miss Grayling informs them that Jo must leave the school. She makes it clear that, in her view, Jo has been failed by her parents. Jo's father agrees.

Amanda wants to swim in the open sea, but underestimates the strong currents and finds herself in danger of being dashed against the rocks. She is rescued by June, but sustains injuries that end her Olympic ambitions. Amanda and June are reconciled. June renews her sports practice while a more mellow Amanda contemplates a future as a games mistress and sports coach.

Gwen receives a huge shock when she receives news that her father is seriously ill and may die, and is forced to re-evaluate her future. She will not be going to a finishing school in Switzerland and bitterly recalls her cruel treatment of her father. She leaves the school and later writes to Darrell, showing a very different side:

I shall never be as strong-minded as you, Darrell - or Sally - or Bill and Clarissa - but I don't think I'll ever again be as weak and selfish as I was. You see - it wasn't too late after all. And that has made a lot of difference to me. I feel as if I've been given another chance.

The term draws to a close. In an emotional ending, Alicia takes June by the shoulders and asks her to carry on and hold the standard high. Startled, June agrees. Unprompted, Felicity makes the same promise to Darrell.

Pilot (Terriers)

In Ocean Beach, San Diego, ex-cop and recovering alcoholic Hank Dolworth (Donal Logue) and his best friend, former criminal Britt Pollack (Michael Raymond-James) are surveilling a house. Working on an unlicensed private investigation business, they were hired by a friend of Britt to recover a dog from a man's house, who is her ex-husband. While Hank distracts the owner, Randy Oaks (Lee Reherman), Britt sneaks into the house and takes the dog, Winston. They escape just as Oaks discovers the event.

Forced to keep Winston for the rest of the day, Hank is contacted by his ex-wife Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn), who asks him to bail out Hank's old drinking buddy, Mickey (Gareth Williams), from jail. She also informs him that she is selling out their old house. After bailing him out, Mickey states that he was contacted by his daughter Eleanor (Rachel Miner), has not talked with her in years. Eleanor sounded scared and asked him for money and a gun, which caused Mickey's arrest for possession as he was going to meet her. Hank agrees to help Mickey in finding Eleanor.

Hank and Britt visit Eleanor's roommate, who informs them that Eleanor has been absent for one week and that someone broke into their house to steal. Discovering a parking ticket, they check on the location, which belongs to a mansion. Managing to get access, they meet the owner, Robert Lindus (Christopher Cousins), a local real estate developer and bigwig. They ask for Eleanor, who tells that she worked for him and has been absent for one week, having taken something of vital importance to him. He pays them $20,000 to find her and recover the stolen material. Hank uses part of the money to reserve part of his old house, much to Britt's annoyance.

Tracing Eleanor's cellphone to a beach, Hank and Britt find a cabin and assume they found her. However, they instead discover a lifeguard who was killed by a gunshot and leave the scene with Eleanor's cellphone. To complicate matters, their car is towed with Winston inside. After recovering Winston and the car, they are confronted by Detective Mark Gustafson (Rockmond Dunbar), who suspects them of searching for Eleanor while his squad investigates the lifeguard's death, which they deny. After leaving Winston with Britt's friend, they find that the cellphone contains a sex video of Lindus and Eleanor.

Hank returns home and discovers Eleanor, who holds him at gunpoint. She claims she did not kill the lifeguard, who was actually her boyfriend. Hank then deduces that they tried to blackmail Lindus for the money, but he responded by killing the lifeguard and trying to look for Eleanor. The video also reveals that Lindus is not planning to go forward with a previously established development deal. They contact Hank's attorney, Maggie Lefferts (Jamie Denbo), but she can't help them with their case. After fending off some of Lindus' henchmen, they leave Eleanor at a train station so she can leave town. Hank also meets with Gretchen, who allows him to buy their old house but also informs him that she is getting married to someone else, disappointing him.

Hank asks Gustafson to check Lindus' house but he refuses to do so. Their talk is interrupted when they are informed that Mickey has died from a drug overdose in an apparent suicide. With the authorities refusing to help them, Hank and Britt meet with Lindus on a development site. They give him her cellphone and inform her that she left town, something that pleases Lindus, who gives them another paycheck. Hank then coldly states to Lindus that he knows he is involved in Mickey's death and will destroy his life. The next day, Gustafson and the police get a warrant for his house and inspect it, finding a gun, unaware that Hank and Britt placed it there. Lindus is arrested, while Hank and Britt ponder over whether there will be consequences for their actions.

Dog and Pony (Terriers)

Hank (Donal Logue) and Britt (Michael Raymond-James) are separately interviewed by the authorities, regarding Lindus' arrest. They both claim to not have any involvement in his arrest or incriminating him. Despite receiving $30,000 from Lindus, they can't cash it as it is used as evidence and Lindus' accounts were frozen. Mark (Rockmond Dunbar) reprimands them for their actions.

Needing money, they settle on catching a wanted criminal: Montell Gobright (Matthew Willig), wanted for armed robbery, with a reward of $5,000. In order to lure him out, they intimidate his wife, a fortune teller named Aggatha Hagglethorpe (Jean Villepique), into sharing part of her drug money. He also visits Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn) to confirm that he will buy their old house, despite his Alcoholics Anonymous friend, Barry (Paul Hipp), telling him not to do it.

Hank and Britt visit once again Aggatha, but this time, they are confronted by Montell. Montell brutally attacks them and throws them out of their window before fleeing. Hank and Britt are arrested and bailed out by Mark, warning them to stay away from the case. Despite this, they question Bradley Denham (Nate Mooney), Montell's half-brother and bookkeeper for a race track. Hank suspects that Denham rattled on his brother for some criminal activities. They then intercept a meeting between the brothers, with Denham shooting Montell and fleeing. Hank and Britt arrive to take Montell into their care.

They take him to Britt's house, asking her girlfriend Katie (Laura Allen) to treat him. It is revealed that Denham and Montell worked on a heist in the race track, but Denham kept all of the money. Hank and Britt visit the race track, blackmailing Denham into giving him half of the money in exchange for killing Montell. Denham agrees but Mark suddenly appears, revealing that they were wearing a wire, and Denham is arrested. The heist money is eventually found and Hank and Britt are given the reward money.

Hank, Britt and Katie take Montell with his wife, also letting them keep Britt's dog. Britt decides to adopt Winston, the bulldog he previously rescued. With the money, Hank pays Gretchen for the old house. After doing it, he takes a sledgehammer to take down a wall in the house, as part of a promise he made to Gretchen when they first moved into the house.

Change Partners (Terriers)

A man named Jason Adler (Loren Dean) is trying on suits when he pumps into Britt (Michael Raymond-James). Britt steals Jason's wallet, with Hank (Donal Logue) claiming that it is part of a job. However, Britt sees Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn) and realizes that he is her fiancé.

Hank needs a lending institution for his mortgage, which he is struggling with. He is approached by Armand Foster (Shawn Doyle), head of the mortgage agency, who asks for his help in following his wife Miriam (Olivia Williams), whom he suspects of having an affair in exchange for financial help. He tries to get Britt on board, but Britt refuses to participate, having just been robbed at a bar just a few moments ago. When Britt returns home with Katie (Laura Allen), he finds that his old friend from his burglary days, Ray (Maximiliano Hernández) is visiting. Ray tries to convince Britt to help him with a robbery, but Britt declines the offer.

Hank follows Miriam but finds no evidence of infidelity. Armand is furious at his lack of progress and dismisses him, declining to help him. Hank convinces him to give him a few more days. With Britt's help, he follows Miriam to a plaza. Miriam recognizes him and attacks him with pepper spray, before discovering that Armand sent him. She explains that Armand made her cheat on him, and the humiliation excites him, telling her to keep having affairs, but she just lies to him. Meanwhile, Ray stalks Katie, demanding that Britt work for him again and that she doesn't know his past.

In order to fool Armand, Hank suggests staging an affair. Hank, Britt, Miriam, and Katie meet in a motel room, where Miriam and Britt will pretend to be on an affair, supervised by Katie and photographed by Hank. With the "affair" investigated, Hank delivers the pictures to Armand, who agrees to his terms of the mortgage. That night, Hank has an awkward dinner with Gretchen and Jason at his house. After they leave, he is visited by Miriam, who informs him that Armand now wants to witness the affair himself. They then kiss and have sex. By the next morning, she has left his house by the time he woke up. Hank goes to the bar, where Britt shows up with a ski mask, pretending to be Ray and rob it. Hank seizes his gun, prompting him to leave and sending the gun to the police. Britt then meets with Katie at the motel room, stating that the plan went as planned and that Ray will go to jail as his fingerprints were on the gun.

Hank meets with Armand for the mortgage papers, but he states that he is aware of their plan; he searched for Britt on the internet, linking him to Hank and also made Miriam confess the affair to him. He refuses to help him with the papers, so Hank explains in detail about having sex with Miriam the previous night. Humiliated, Armand signs the papers but tells him to never see him ever again. Hank leaves but returns for a missing signature, only to discover that Armand has committed suicide by jumping out the window. He left behind a note, which reads "I only meant to hurt myself". Using his papers, he forges the missing signature and leaves his office.

Back at their house, Britt tells Katie that he and Ray worked together to rob houses, one of which included Katie's. Staring at her pictures, Britt pursued Katie and eventually met her. She acts mad at the confession but also tells Britt to meet with her soon for sex. Hank visits Miriam at her house, to tell her she can't feel guilty for her husband's death. When he mentions that he was with him and mentioned their night together, prompting her to leave him in disgust. Hank returns home and plays his guitar. Unaware to him, a person sneaks into his attic.

Fustercluck

Hank (Donal Logue) and Britt (Michael Raymond-James) are approached by Josephine (Jackie Debatin), the wife of Robert Lindus (Christopher Cousins), telling them they must meet with her husband in prison. Visiting him, Lindus claims that he wasn't involved in Mickey's death and expresses fear that his family may be in danger from his colleagues. He tells Hank and Britt that they need to steal $250,000 from themselves.

Despite Britt's reservations, Hank accepts to help them. Josephine tells them that they have to steal bearer bonds which he has hidden in his now-sealed office, with a high level of security. She promises them a payment of $100,000, as well as the person responsible for Mickey's death. Meanwhile, Hank starts noticing more noises around the house and eventually catches the person who hid in his attic: his schizophrenic sister Stephanie (Karina Logue), who has been living there for four weeks after escaping from various psychiatric hospitals.

Leaving Steph in the care of Katie (Laura Allen), Hank and Britt reach Lindus' office. Britt sneaks in and knocks the office's alarm, prompting the bigger alarm to turn on and the police are called to the scene. Britt leaves before the police arrive, deeming the scene as a failed robbery attempt. They call a reparations service, which has been replaced with Hank's number. Hank shows up, and replaces the pad with a new one. Claiming that he needs the room closed, he seizes the opportunity to steal the bonds and a key from the office's vault.

The next day, they give the bonds and key to Josephine, while they receive money and the name of the drug dealer that killed Mickey: William (Channon Roe). Hank confronts William at his house, who states that he was forced by a person to inject Mickey, who was already intoxicated. Hank then hurries with Britt to catch the Lindus family, who used the bonds to pay for Lindus' bail. They arrive in time just as they intend to board a plane. They take Lindus, forcing him to reveal who forced Mickey to use the drugs. They use the key to open a safe deposit box, which contains an envelope. Lindus attempts to flee but is hit by a car, wounding him.

As they can't go to the hospital, they take him to Hank's house. Before Lindus can say anything, he dies from his wounds. To complicate matters, Mark (Rockmond Dunbar) visits the house, as Josephine informed him that Hank and Britt took her husband. They manage to fool him into not finding anything and he leaves, but he asks them to come with them. After Mark, Hank, and Britt leave the house, Steph goes to the bathroom, staring at a dead Lindus in the bathtub.

Manifest Destiny (Terriers)

As Lindus (Christopher Cousins) is reported to have gone missing, Josephine (Jackie Debatin) accuses Hank (Donal Logue) and Britt (Michael Raymond-James) of having kidnapped him. Mark (Rockmond Dunbar) questions Hank, who suggests he may have had access to his vault, but he can't be arrested as he never confessed anything.

Returning home, they see that Steph (Karina Logue) has placed Lindus' corpse in a bathtub with ice. They take the body out of the house, retrieve one of Lindus' cars from his mansion, and stage his death to look like a drunk driving incident. The next day, they visit Josephine, claiming that retrieving Lindus from the airfield was part of a plan that Lindus asked them to do. Josephine then informs them that Lindus' associates wanted to meet with him and she provided them with Hank's and Britt's contact numbers and address. Hank takes Steph to live with Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn) while Britt also moves out of their house with Katie (Laura Allen).

To lure the associates, Hank and Britt use Lindus' frozen credit card to put fake trails, making it appear like he stayed in a motel room. Later, a man (Daren Scott), whom Hank identifies as the person who forced Mickey to use drugs, visits the motel room and leaves. They follow him to a law firm, Zeitlin & Associates. As Hank follows the man, he is approached by Ben Zeitlin (Michael Gaston), who wants to represent him and Britt on the accusation of kidnapping Lindus, to which Hank gives some details on his role. Zeitlin also wants to know a soil study that Lindus apparently possessed, threatening them by showing that the company and the man, identified as Mr. Burke, have been following them for days. On his way out, Hank punches Mr. Burke in the nose.

Hank and Britt visit Maggie (Jamie Denbo), who just gave birth to her son. Realizing that Zeitlin is involved, she tells them to give them everything they want and then leave. To complicate matters, Gretchen and Jason (Loren Dean) have checked the soil report, which reveals that the chemicals used on the ground would be carcinogenic to the people. Hank decides to change plans and intervene into the development deals. He and Britt locate Lindus' car and insert the soil report on Lindus' jacket. They later report the car incident, so the police will discover the car, the body and the soil report.

As Hank and Britt watch the news coverage on a bar, they are joined by Mark. Mark wonders if they had a role in Lindus' death, to which they deny. While Mark may not know what they did, he is actually thankful for whatever they did. The next day, Zeitlin is forced to give a conference to condemn the soil report, which will halt the development plan. Hank thanks Jason and Gretchen for helping him with Steph. As they leave, Hank tells Gretchen that he still loves her. While driving home, Steph states that the soil report had false numbers, as if people wanted it to appear carcinogenic. Hank then drives to the development site, where he sees Mr. Burke supervising workers joining the project. As Gretchen questions if the case remains open, Hank doubtfully says that it is closed.

Ring-a-Ding-Ding (Terriers)

Hank (Donal Logue), Britt (Michael Raymond-James), Katie (Laura Allen), and Steph (Karina Logue) attend Gretchen's (Kimberly Quinn) engagement party, with Jason (Loren Dean) remarking that he may have previously met Britt. Britt confides in Hank that he intends to propose marriage to Katie.

Maggie (Jamie Denbo) returns from her maternal leave and puts Hank and Britt in contact with a marriage. The wife, Beth Komack (Stacy Edwards), is dying in the hospital and wants them to find a ring for her son, suspecting that her maid's brother is responsible. As they leave, the husband Dale (Chris Bruno) tells them that he gave the ring to his lover, Paolo (T Lopez), as Beth was supposed to die earlier. As her condition improved, Paolo broke up with Dale and won't return the ring.

Hank and Britt visit Paolo's beauty parlor, claiming to be regular customers. However, Paolo correctly deduces that Dale sent them and kicks them out, also revealing that she sold the ring. They visit the establishment where she sold it, only to realize that the owner also sold it already. As they go through many re-sellers, they eventually find that a woman named Elizabeth Komack bought the ring. Elizabeth is revealed to be Beth, who deduced that her husband was cheating on her. She wants to know the name of Dale's lover to change her will and make things easier for her son. After they provide it to her, she asks them to get the ring from her house.

As Hank distracts Dale, Britt sneaks into the house and retrieves the ring from a Bible, also discovering that Beth's wigs come from the same beauty parlor where Paolo works. Dale then receives a call, notifying him that Beth has left the hospital and that Hank and Britt were the last people to see her. They find her at the beauty parlor, confronting Paolo. As Dale enters, a child pops out of the backdoor, recognizing Dale as her father. Heartbroken, Beth asks them to leave while she cries in the parlor, eventually being sent back to the hospital. Meanwhile, Katie decides to go out with her vet school professor, Owens (Johnny Sneed), to a bar. Amidst heavy drinking, they sing Karaoke and later have sex. Realizing what she has done, she leaves as soon as she wakes up. She returns home, where she evades Britt's questions.

Jason talks with Hank, explaining that he knows that Britt robbed his wallet earlier and deduces Hank asked him to do it. Despite that, he is not mad at him, explaining that he still likes him but also wants to reiterate to him that he and Gretchen are getting married and Hank must deal with that. The next day, Katie contacts Hank to meet her. She informs him about sleeping with her professor and is feeling terrible about it. Hank consoles her but tells her that she can't tell Britt about it. Despite her cries, she agrees to not tell him.

Missing Persons (Terriers)

Hank (Donal Logue) starts spending more time with Steph (Karina Logue), who still constantly mentions their mother. Later, Hank and Britt (Michael Raymond-James) arrive at their diner to handle a situation: a man has locked himself in the restroom. They confront the man (Noel Fisher), who turns out to be amnesiac.

While Britt suggests just leaving the man alone, Hank wants to help, as he finds similarities between him and Steph. They take him to the beach to meet with a former doctor, Johnson (Richmond Arquette), as they found a pill on the man's clothes. He explains that the pill is used against malaria, but it can also cause some memory loss and other side effects. They take the amnesiac to the police station. The man then flees from the station when he sees a bulletin reporting a missing girl. Mark also discloses that the lab reported the drugs as rohypnol. Meanwhile, Steph leaves the house and starts befriending some of the neighbors, including a child. Britt's relationship with Katie (Laura Allen) is dwindling and she refuses to talk about it, making him also distant from the cases.

Hank and Britt decide to find the missing girl, Jessica Sampson. Her college roommate tells them that she planned to leave for Cambodia before disappearing. Using their contacts, they discover that she planned to leave with a man named Adam Fisher, who bought the plane tickets. They visit Adam's house, finding Jessica (Olivia Dawn York) bound and gagged in a closet. The police have finally identified the amnesiac as Adam. As Hank still investigates more about Adam, Steph has a breakdown when she discovers that her encounters with the child were just hallucinations, causing some disturbance in the neighborhood.

The police calls Hank when Adam is doing a hostage situation, keeping Jessica's roommate in her apartment. Hank easily fends off Adam, allowing the roommate to flee the scene. He confronts Adam for his actions, breaking him down. The police takes Adam into custody. Hank talks with Steph, promising to help her. He takes her to Country Villa Pines, a psychiatric hospital, paying with some of Lindus' bearer bonds. Hank agrees to constantly visit her, in contrast to her previous hospitals.

Agua Caliente (Terriers)

Hank (Donal Logue) and Britt (Michael Raymond-James) visit a golf course to give legal papers to a member. The member tries to evade them but Hank catches him up. As he leaves, he discovers that Britt is missing, finding his cellphone in the ground.

With Maggie (Jamie Denbo) and Katie (Laura Allen) unaware of his location, Hank asks Mark (Rockmond Dunbar) for help. They visit the golf course, where they gain access to the CCTV footage. The footage shows that Britt was taken by men in a car, with licence plates pointing to Baja California, suggesting that the cartel was involved. Mark contacts a friend, DEA Agent Samuel Weisdorf (Keith Szarabajka), who reviews the footage and recognizes the driver as Felipe Padro (Jose Pablo Cantillo), an enforcer for the cartel. With this information, Hank and Mark cross the border to find Britt.

Britt finds himself in Tijuana, also discovering that Ray (Maximiliano Hernández) has been taken by the cartel as well. The cartel used Ray as a delivery man but he failed to deliver a drug package, which is now in police custody. Ray suggested that they should get Britt, explaining his kidnapping. They want Britt to break into the police station and get the package back, threatening retaliation against Katie if he fails to do the task. Britt and Ray then fight in a bar, which leads to their arrest. The arrest alerts Hank and Mark of Britt's location.

At prison, Britt uses a tool to leave his cell, while Ray incapacitates some of the guards and steals a uniform. Britt breaks into the evidence room, eventually finding the drug package. They escape the station, just as Hank and Mark arrive. They return to Prado's hideout, only to discover that his boss Javier de la Rosa (Manuel E. Urrego) holds him at gunpoint for failling to deliver the package and kills him, worrying Britt as Prado needed to make a call to cancel the hit on Katie. He appears in front of de la Rosa and gives him the package, only asking for Prado's cellphone. De la Rosa accepts and Britt and Ray leave the hideout.

As they evade authorities, Britt uses the cellphone to contact Katie. Unfortunately, she is taking an exam and leaves the class without it. He then calls Hank, realizing that he is in Tijuana too. They meet and, in order to avoid the search by the Mexican police, decide to put Britt in the trunk of the car as they try to cross the border. Britt fails to communicate with Katie, who is held at gunpoint by a hitman. Professor Owen (Johnny Sneed) visits Katie to discuss their one night stand and is also held at gunpoint.

As Hank, Britt and Mark arrive at San Diego, they find the hitman's car and hurriedly enter the apartment. The hitman holds Katie hostage, until he is hit by Hank. The hitman shoots Hank, only to be killed by Mark. As Hank is taken by the ambulance, he warns Owen to stay away from Katie or he will ruin his personal and professional life.

Pimp Daddy (Terriers)

Britt (Michael Raymond-James) helps Hank (Donal Logue) at his house while Hank recovers from the gunshot. He leaves Hank with his physiotherapist, and leaves for the diner. He meets with the therapist's nephew, Cody (Cameron Monaghan), who asks for his help, as he was stolen $400 from a prostitute.

Hank is called by Maggie (Jamie Denbo), who investigated Jason (Loren Dean) at his behest. She informs him that Jason's original name was Jason Voloway. Jason's parents were daycare employees accused of child molestation, and some accused Jason of participating. Due to lack of evidence, the case was dropped. Against Maggie's advice, Hank wants to tell Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn), as her wedding approaches and hasn't responded if he will assist to the wedding. Unwilling to do it, he contacts a reporter to continue the story and also interviews a victim of Jason's parents, who confirms the abuse and while Jason didn't participate, he knew about the events.

Britt finds the prostitute, Michela (D.J. "Shangela" Pierce), revealed to be transgender. He asks for Cody's money, so she uses him to intimidate a fellow client for money, including the $400. He gives the money back to Cody, telling him to stay away from prostitutes. Michela approaches Britt again, asking for his help in finding the person responsible for her friend Crystal's death. They gain access to the police records, discovering that Crystal was named Trevor and that his killer already committed suicide. Britt and Michele visit Trevor's family to confirm the end of the case and also to express that Trevor was a good person. During this, Britt finds a pregnancy test on the trash, deducing that this could explain why Katie (Laura Allen) was distant lately.

Hank questions Katie on the pregnancy test, who confirms that she is pregnant, but does not know whether Britt or her professor is the father. He also confronts Jason with his knowledge of the day care incidents, warning him to either tell Gretchen or Hank himself will do it. Jason only tells Hank that he still can't get over Gretchen and tells him to do whatever he wants. Hank visits Gretchen and gives her the papers detailing his past life. Gretchen is furious at him for spying on Jason, who told her about the events on their first dates. Angered, she disinvites Hank from her wedding and he leaves. That night, Britt asks Katie to marry him. Despite feeling uncertain on the pregnancy, she accepts.

Asunder (Terriers)

Hank (Donal Logue) continues with his Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, while Britt (Michael Raymond-James) and Katie (Laura Allen) attend the wedding of Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn) and Jason (Loren Dean). After getting his shirt ruined, Britt asks Hank for a replacement, and Hank offers to go there and give it to him.

Unbeknownst to Britt, Hank decides to stay at the hotel during the wedding reception. There, he sees that Ben Zeitlin (Michael Gaston) and Mr. Burke (Daren Scott) are staying at the hotel. He talks with Britt to inform him that he is staying and asks him to bring his tech friends to help him with a stakeout. Planting a camera in their suite, Hank and the crew find that a freelance reporter Laura Ross (Alison Elliot), who has been reporting some incriminating accusations against Zeitlin. Zeitlin wants to know the source of the accusations, which Ross refuses to disclose. Zeitlin then threatens with killing her mother.

As Gretchen and Jason get officially married, Britt talks with Katie about her pregnancy test. She lies, claiming that she isn't pregnant, although she feels disappointed when Britt expresses relief. He confronts her again for lying about the pregnancy and asks her what is happening. She whispers something into his ear, prompting him to leave the reception. She catches up to him, admitting to the affair, but not disclosing the name of the man. She then uses his remarks at the wedding to suggest that he is not ready for marriage. Britt breaks up their relationship, telling her that he will move out of the house.

Hank manages to communicate with Ross, getting her mother's address to warn her about the threat. He also calls security to take Ross out of the hotel room. He places Ross in the limo that will drive Gretchen and Jason, managing to avoid being seen by them. He then confronts Zeitlin, warning him to stay away from Ross or he will leak the recording of his threat. Zeitlin agrees to the terms, but Burke gets his payback by punching Hank in the nose. As he leaves, he finds Britt in the sidewalk. They both don't want to talk about their problems and walk away from the hotel.

Sins of the Past (Terriers)

Flashbacks

Three years ago, Hank (Donal Logue) works as a detective alongside Mark (Rockmond Dunbar). They are introduced to a suspect, Billy Whitman (Chris William Martin), a suspected serial rapist, although Hank does not see the similarities in the description. Hank interrogates a criminal, Britt (Michael Raymond-James), who has been arrested for robbery and suspects him of being the real rapist as he was near the area where a rape took place. Britt's testimony convinces Hank that he was not involved in the rape, as Britt expressed genuine concern for the women. Police also recover a phone recording of Britt reporting a woman screaming, so they are forced to let him go.

Hank learns from his wife Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn), that she was dating Whitman back in college. He interrogates Whitman, who taunts Hank and his relationship with Gretchen. Mark wants to remove him from the case, as his connection to Gretchen and heavy drinking may affect it. This causes a fight between Hank and Gretchen at home. The next day, the police brings the victim to identify possible suspects at a line-up. She struggles at first but identifies one of the men, also claiming that Whitman wasn't responsible despite Hank trying to convince her.

Later, Mark asks Hank about his actions. He states that Whitman got into a car accident, and they found that someone planted evidence that could incriminate him, with Mark suspecting Hank. Hank gets mad and lashes out at the room, with Whitman watching him from the one-way window. Later, Britt is released from prison and is told by Hank that if he knows anything about the events, he should call him. He also tells Britt that he needs to stop his criminal life.

Present day

Having broken up with Katie (Laura Allen), Britt moves out of the house, despite Hank trying to make him change his mind. As he is about to leave, Katie asks what will happen to Winston, to which an angry Britt tells her to decide. She chooses to let him go with Britt, but not before saying farewell to Winston.

Britt moves in with Hank, and they find Laura Ross (Alison Elliott) inside the house. She approaches Hank, as she may have something new regarding Billy Whitman, a criminal whom Hank previously dealt with at his police days. They go to the station, while Britt decides to search for the man who slept with Katie. Sneaking into their house, he uses her laptop to find the man, incorrectly deducing that her classmate Gavin (Zack Silva) was the man. That night, a drunken Britt corners him at a grocery store and brutally attacks him.

At the station, Hank and Mark call Detective Ronnie Reynolds (Craig Susser). They inform him that Laura Ross' and Whitman's newest testimony evidence show that he was involved in the rapes, also realizing that it was Reynolds who planted the evidence on Whitman's car. He was also the first person to arrive at the crime scene and also made the suspects recount the events to him in interrogations. To further confirm his case, CCTV footage shows that Reynolds also destroyed partial evidence of the case just a few minutes earlier. Reynolds is arrested and Whitman and Laura are thanked for their help.

Britt is brought to the station for the attack on Owen. Hank visits Britt at his cell, telling him that he attacked the wrong man, revealing that Katie told him about her one night stand. Britt is furious, while Hank defends his actions, as Britt proved his point by going to prison. Britt angrily tells him to leave, and Hank complies.

Quid Pro Quo (Terriers)

Hank (Donal Logue) and Laura (Alison Elliott) are still working on the case against Zeitlin (Michael Gaston). Hank follows Laura as she wants to meet with her source. Laura informs Hank that the architect working on one of their projects is Jason Adler (Loren Dean).

Zeitlin visits Britt in prison, pretending to be his lawyer and paying his bail. He leaves just as Hank and Laura arrive at the station, and he confirms that Zeitlin wants the tape where he threatens Laura's life. They meet with Maggie (Jamie Denbo), who states that Britt could face up to three years in prison for assault and battery. She directs them towards one of her clients, Councilman Sam Albrecht (Scott Klace), who has his own misgivings about Zeitlin. While Hank and Laura meet with Jason, Britt meets with Zeitlin, claiming that the tape does not exist. Zeitlin offers to help with his case if he works for him in investigating a possible source in his office.

Jason tells Hank and Laura that the project has been pressured to meet the dateline, making it feel like he is being watched by some of Zeitlin's associates. As they investigate, they discover that Zeitlin plans to dismantle part of the Ocean Beach territory to make way for a new airport. Britt follows Ashley Barrett (Elizabeth Chomko), Zeitlin's subordinates and possible whistle-blower. Their conversation turns intimate and they have sex. However, she eventually discovers that Zeitlin sent him and kicks him out. Meanwhile, Katie (Laura Allen) tends to Gavin (Zack Silva), who informs her that Britt brutally attacked him, deducing that he thought she slept with him. She visits Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn) to ask for some counceling.

As Hank and Britt drive, they are called by Laura, who managed to contact the whistle-blower to a liquor store. Hank and Britt arrive, discovering that Laura and Jason arrived first. They are shocked to discover the whistle-blower and Jason dead, and Laura missing. As authorities inspect the scene, Hank and Britt talk with Albrecht. They deduce that Albrecht is working with Zeitlin and informed him of their plans. Hank and Britt then visit Gretchen, who was just notified of Jason's death. Hank consoles a devastated Gretchen, promising to find out what happened. Hank and Britt then visit a local dealer, with Hank using Lindus' bearer bonds to buy weapons.

Hail Mary (Terriers)

Britt (Michael Raymond-James) is informed that he will face a two-year sentence for brutally attacking Gavin. Warned by Maggie (Jamie Denbo) not to run away, he tries to convince Katie (Laura Allen) to reconcile and flee with him. However, she is aware of the attack and hesitates in fleeing with him. Britt also learns from Ashley (Elizabeth Chomko) that she saw Zeitlin (Michael Gaston) meeting with Robert Lindus and an unknown woman.

As authorities round up suspects in the liquor store deaths, Hank (Donal Logue) convinces Mark (Rockmond Dunbar), who was suspended while Reynolds is under investigation, to help him. They visit Steph (Karina Logue) at her hospital, discovering that Laura (Alison Elliott) is hiding there, also discovering that her source informed her of a Mexican children's hospital related to Zeitlin. Taking her to the station for a testimony, the police arrests Hank; the suspects confessed to the shooting and claimed that Hank hired them to kill Jason. Hank talks with Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn), claiming he is innocent. Gretchen believes him, telling him to defend himself.

Hank is driven by a cruiser to the station, where Zeitlin supposedly hired people to kill him. However, the cruiser diverts from its route and releases Hank. The cruiser's cops are friends of Mark, who meets with him. Hank, Britt and Laura then go to Tijuana to meet with Eleanor Gosney (Rachel Miner), her source. Eleanor says that her father collaborated with a person from the Mexican hospital and retrieved vital information. The information was on his jacket, which is now on Hank's house. Hank and Britt return to Ocean Beach, where Hank sneaks into his house to retrieve the jacket. He is confronted by Mr. Burke (Daren Scott), who coldly admits to supplying Mickey with the drugs. They engage in a brutal fight, which culminates when Hank kills Mr. Burke.

The next day, Hank and Britt confront Zeitlin at his boat. Holding him at gunpoint, he confesses to ordering Jason's death, but claims to work for other important people. He identifies the man in the Mexican hospital as Tom Cutshaw (Neal McDonough), his boss. They confront Cutshaw at a restaurant, telling him to stop the airport development. To further encourage him, Hank threatens to reveal incriminating photographs of Cutshaw, telling him to move the airport development somewhere else. With no other choice, Cutshaw accepts to his terms.

With the new evidence, Zeitlin is arrested, while the suspects in prison change their testimony to exonerate Hank, who has decided to further investigate Cutshaw. Hank also reconciles with Gretchen, and plans on selling his house again. Britt tells Katie that he will accept responsibility for his actions and will go to prison. He asks her to destroy the paternity test, wanting to be the child's father no matter what. He then leaves with Hank, who will take him to prison. As Hank drives, he states he shouldn't go to prison, suggesting they could flee to Mexico, something that interests him. As they stop on a red light, Hank gives him the choice: go forward and go to prison, or turn left and go to Mexico. As the light turns green, Hank asks Britt to decide which road take.

The Tunnel Gang

The plot tracks the interactions of a group of survivors from a disaster (they were trapped in a tunnel for 15 days) after their rescue.

Bella Germania

Episode 1: ''L'Amore - die Liebe'' (The Love)

The series starts in Munich in 2018, when fashion designer Julia Becker (Natalia Belitski) is presenting her first very own collection. Just as she is called to the stage, she has a flashback and leaves the showroom. At the lobby, when she is trying to gather herself, she is approached by an old man, Alexander Schlewitz (Joachim Bißmeier), who tells her he wants to speak to her father, Vincenzo Marconi. Julia tells him that his father is dead, but Alexander says that he's still alive, but then collapses and is taken away by an ambulance. Julia lather goes to visit her mother Tanja (Andrea Sawatzki), a journalist and political reports author for television. Tanja continues to insist that Vincenzo died when she was eight. Julia still has her doubts, and finds out where Alexander lives, then visits him. Alexander tells Julia that he is her grandfather, then proceeds to tell Julia his story.

In 1954, Alexander is a young junior engineer (young Alexander played by Christoph Letkowski) working in BMW under Fritz Maier (Francis Fulton-Smith). BMW is currently having hard times, as the expensive 501s are not selling well. Schlewitz suggests to Maier that they sign a licensing agreement with Italian company Iso to produce Isettas, to which Maier agrees, and dispatches him to Milan to discuss it with Iso's owner Renzo Rivolta (Giovanni Moschella), with a two week deadline. Once in Milan, as Alexander attempts to talk it over with Mr. Rivolta, Rivolta doesn't understand him, but nearby, a young Sicilian woman, Giulietta Marconi (Silvia Busuioc), offers to translate for them. During a test drive, Alexander discovers a design flaw on the vehicle - it tends to lurch badly in curves and even threatens to tip over. With Giulietta's help, he promises Rivolta he can fix it in two days. With the help of Iso mechanics, including Giulietta's brother Giovanni (Denis Moschitto), he manages to fix it. Over lunch, he discovers Giulietta is very good at drawing and has a talent for fashion design. Over time, Alexander and Giulietta begin to fall in love. At a store, he buys Giulietta a pair of elegant red shoes, which she likes very much. He tells her that he has no family as his father died in the World War II Russian front and his mother and brothers were killed during the bombing of Dresden.

The test drive with Isetta is successful, and Alexander and Giulietta's brief romance blossoms. However, they're quickly brought back to earth when Giulietta tells him that she is engaged to Enzo (Deniz Arora), a co-worker at Iso. Soon, she is discovered to be pregnant out of wedlock, which in 1950s Italy is a huge scandal, and her mother insists she marry immediately. Enzo has the attributes of a southern Italian: he is quite macho, sometimes excessively temperamental, and believes quite naturally that "his" wife is also his property, and behaves accordingly. Giulietta tells Alexander that she has no other choice. Alexander then travels back to Munich. Only Giulietta knows that Alexander is the child's father.

Back in 2018, Alexander tells Julia to find her grand-uncle Giovanni, who runs an Italian restaurant in Munich. Julia locates Giovanni (Alessandro Bresanello as old man) and his wife Rosaria (Luciana Caglioti).

Milan, 1955. One year after Alexander's visit, Giulietta is now the mother of Vincenzo (who, as said in Giovanni's photo album, was baptized on 22 August 1955), and has settled into her married life with Enzo and the child. But she feels that something is missing. The confinement of the nuclear family and the red shoes, the only thing she has left from her time with Alexander, remind her that there could be another, a more fulfilling life. Giovanni then tells her that he's going to West Germany to work as a Gastarbeiter (in real life, the guest worker agreement between West Germany and Italy would be signed at the end of the same year). When Giovanni leaves, Giulietta asks him to look up Alexander in Munich. Giovanni arrives in Munich in 1956, and gets a job in Munich's Wholesale Market. At home, Enzo's jealousy is getting worse. While Giulietta receives letters from Alexander, she doesn't dare to read them and burns them in the oven.

In 1964, Giovanni returns to Italy to perform military service, and brings back for Giulietta a German sewing machine. When Giulietta, Giovanni, Enzo and Vincenzo (Mika Ullritz as a 9-year old) visit the Iso factory, they discover Alexander there talking to Renzo Rivolta. Alexander comes to them, and seeing Vincenzo, suspects that he must be his son. He gives Vincenzo, who has a fascination with anything German, a ride in his car on the Iso test track. He then tries to talk to Giulietta about coming back to Munich with him, but she tells him that her life is in Milan now, so he leaves again. However, one night, during dinner, Vincenzo and Enzo start to argue and Enzo ends up slapping Vincenzo, to which he runs off. However, Giulietta, remembering the sewing machine Giovanni brought her, remembers her passion and starts tailoring, making a red dress.

Four years later, in 1968, in the family's Sicilian village, Giovanni and Rosaria (Ana Sanchez as young adult) are getting married. At the party, when Giulietta dances with one of the musicians, Enzo gets jealous again and causes a scene. When Giulietta attempts to apologize, Enzo grabs her roughly, to which Vincenzo (played by Rafael Koussouris as a teenager) intervenes and pushes him off. Enzo tries to slap him again, but Vincenzo get the upper hand and slaps him instead before running off. Fed up with Enzo's behavior, Giulietta and Vincenzo accompany Giovanni and Rosaria as they travel to Munich, Giulietta saying that their "real" home in Italy is in Sicily, not Milan.

Back to 2018, Giovanni gives Julia the red dress Giulietta made. Julia then inspects it and decides to incorporate her grandmother's old design into her new design. Julia gets a call from Alexander's daughter Clara (Franziska Schlattner), telling her that he was hospitalized.

Episode 2: ''Il destino – das Schicksal'' (The Destiny)

In 2018, Julia travels to Turin with her grand-uncle Giovanni to meet her father, Vincenzo (played by Stefan Kurt as an old man). However, Vincenzo shows little enthusiasm for a reunion and doesn't want to see Alexander, as the latter had wished.

In 1968, when Giulietta and Vincenzo arrived in Munich with Giovanni and Rosaria, she again tried to reconnect with Alexander. She first called Alexander on the phone, but hung up without saying anything. Later, she tried to visit Alexander at his home, only to notice him with a pregnant blonde woman, Marianne (Friederike Ott), and left. Giovanni still works at the Wholesale Market, but Giulietta then helps him set up his own greengrocer's store in Munich, and she does bookkeeping for him and in her spare time sews clothes. However, suddenly she is visited by her mother and Enzo, furious that she left Italy for Germany in the dead of the night. Enzo is willing to separate, but demands that Vincenzo accompany him back to Italy. Vincenzo, however, prefers to stay with his mother. At the school, he is also bullied by the German children as a "child of immigrants". Giulietta and Alexander meet again at the hospital, where Rosaria gives birth to a boy, while Marianne also gives birth to a girl. After being rejected by several landlords for being an immigrant, Giulietta finally manages to find a room in an apartment with hippies. She is again called by Alexander, who tells her that he still can't forget her. One day, Enzo returns again. However, Giulietta does not want to return to Italy. Enzo then decides to stay in Munich and take up Giovanni's old job at the Wholesale Market, and he and Vincenzo becomes closer again. Giulietta sees that, and likes that her husband is willing to change. For some time, Alexander is forgotten. However, at Christmas, Alexander visits them while Vincenzo is alone at home, bringing for him a racing track set and for Giulietta a letter. In the letter, Giulietta finds two tickets for Rossini's Il turco in Italia at National Theatre Munich for 20 February 1969, and Alexander's phone number, causing Enzo to become jealous again. Giulietta and Alexander meet up again, and they kiss. He asks if he is Vincenzo's father, but gets no answer.

Back in 2018, Giovanni gives Julia his sister's old diary. From thereon, the story is now told on the basis of the diary.

By 1969, the relationship between Giulietta and Alexander has cooled down, because Giulietta doesn't want to choose the father of her son. Alexander agrees to pay Vincenzo's education, if Giulietta gives him photos of Vincenzo. They agree, but Giulietta doesn't tell anything to Enzo, who still believes he is the father. Enzo, meanwhile, quits his job at the Wholesale Market and takes another one at Munich U-Bahn construction, after witnessing an ad in the streets. Giulietta realizes she can't get away from Alexander any more than he can from her. However, as they kiss in Alexander's car, they witness Vincenzo being arrested with the rest of the hippies. One year later, Giulietta and Enzo finally manage to get an apartment. She continues to have an affair with Alexander. In June 1970 they make love in a hotel, the scenes interpersed with scenes of several people watching 1970 FIFA World Cup (where on 17 June, Italy ended up defeating West Germany in the semi-finals), including Vincenzo, who ends up meeting his girlfriend Tanja there. As Giulietta returns home, she is met by Vincenzo, telling her that Enzo was hospitalized. They rush to the hospital, where they find out that Enzo was involved in an accident and one of his co-workers was killed.

Three years, later, in 1973, Enzo can't find work and now wants to again return to Italy, however, Giulietta, having created a professional foothold for herself with her sewing work, and continues the affair with Alexander. Giulietta and Enzo then visit Alexander in his office, where he offers a job for Enzo. However, Enzo suspects Alexander is not doing it for his sake and leaves. Giulietta runs after him, and he tells her that he is infertile and Alexander must be Vincenzo's father. Giulietta is shocked that Enzo knew the truth from the beginning and played the charade for many years, Enzo then demands that Giulietta never see Alexander again. Giulietta later visits Alexander in his office, telling him she wants to divorce Enzo (divorce was just legalized in Italy in 1971 and would later be upheld in a 1974 referendum) to live with him. Marianne also suspects Alexander wants to leave her. In July 1973 (Giulietta's death date is marked as 23 July 1973 on her grave seen later), Alexander and Giulietta meet and set off for Venice in a red Alfa Romeo convertible. However, as they drive on the narrow Alpine serpentine road, finally experiencing perfect happiness after a long time, they don't know that the vehicle's brake line is loose and the fluid is leaking.

Back to 2018, Julia wants to know why Vincenzo abandoned her as a child. He finally agrees to tell her the truth and takes her on a trip back to Munich across the Alps to meet up with Alexander, on the exact same route his parents travelled on 45 years earlier.

Episode 3: ''Il segreto – das Geheimnis'' (The Secret)

In 1973 on the Alpine road, Giulietta can't brake the vehicle and she and Alexander drive into the abyss. Alexander was thrown out of the car in process, while she died on the scene. Back in 2018, Vincenzo tells Julia that Giulietta's diary was given to him back in 1973 by the police in the Munich apartment, having found it at the crash scene. Also Enzo was arrested, suspected of having had a motive for the attack, especially with him being a skilled car mechanic. At the trial, however, Enzo is acquitted for a lack of evidence. Vincenzo, who at the break at the trial saw Alexander with his wife embracing, later confronts him at his home.

By 1975, Vincenzo (Kostja Ullmann as a young adult) has become completely unstable and has slipped into Red Army Faction environment with his girlfriend Tanja (Marleen Lohse as a young adult). To show off to her, they break into Alexander's home garage and end up stealing one of the cars there. When Alexander hears the noise and tries to confront them with a poker, Vincenzo pulls a gun on him, but can't bring himself to shoot him, instead escaping in the car, almost running him over. After they have a fight with their comrade Olaf (Ulrich Brandhoff) in a parking garage, Vincenzo and Tanja make love in their apartment. However, as it is being raided by the police, they escape through the window, clad only in their underwear, and flee to Vincenzo's grandmother's home in Sicily. Tanja, wanting to still fight for the "world revolution", seeks contacts with Red Brigades. They briefly enjoy life in Sicily, but one day, while Vincenzo wants to make a life in Italy, Tanja doesn't want a bourgeois life with home and children, and leaves him, travelling to Palermo to meet up with the Red Brigades. Vincenzo doesn't know that Tanja is pregnant with his child.

One year later in 1976, Vincenzo sees in a bar a Targa Florio race and from thereon, gets involved in auto racing and becomes a mechanic in a garage. While there, he becomes romantically involved with Carmela (Lucie Aron). One day, Vincenzo get a call from uncle Giovanni in Munich, who has seen a pregnant Tanja. Vincenzo starts driving back to Germany, despite knowing that the police are looking for him. At the border with Austria, Vincenzo is arrested as he tries to flee. At a trial in Germany, Vincenzo assumes the blame for everything so Tanja, the mother of his child, doesn't have to go to jail. He is then sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. In 1977, Tanja brings their daughter Julia to meet him in jail. Meanwhile, Alexander's car is returned to him. In 1979, at prison, Tanja brings Vincenzo in prison an acorn stick figure that Julia made at preschool, while Vincenzo is taking a college course in prison. In his jail cell, Vincenzo plants the acorn in a flower pot, over time the oak starts to grow. In 1982, Vincenzo is finally released from prison, taking the oak with him, alongside a gravity racer for Julia. A home video from that time then shows Vincenzo, Tanja and Julia in the Munich Olympiapark, playing with the gravity racer, and planting the oak tree Vincenzo brought with him from prison. Back in 2018, in Julia's Munich apartment, Tanja arrives to bring Julia the letter she had saved, and sees Vincenzo again, and they finally talk things out. Vincenzo then tells Julia why he abandoned her 36 years ago.

In 1982, after Vincenzo's release, he, Tanja and Julia come to Tanja's office of Munich's alternative city magazine Blatt. After Vincenzo leaves the office, he saw another man, Bernd (Johannes Zirner) walk in and kiss Tanja and embrace Julia, causing him to lose it and rush back inside. Vincenzo and Bernd end up fighting, in a scene similar to the flashback Julia experienced in the first episode. Vincenzo then returns to Sicily and starts competing in Targa Florio Rally next year. In 1986, he wins the rally and lays the laurel wreath on his mother's grave. In the meantime, Tanja had told Julia that Vincenzo had died, believing that he did not want to know anything more about her and therefore had not contacted her.

Back in 2018, Vincenzo faces his last challenge, visiting Alexander in hospital with Julia. Alexander then explains that his late wife Marlena had confessed on her deathbed that she had manipulated the car he and Giulietta were travelling in back in 1973. Vincenzo also seeks out Enzo (played by Walter Hess as an old man) in a park and apologizes to him for having blamed him for Giulietta's death 45 years ago. They embrace, and Enzo agrees to accompany Vincenzo on his return trip to Italy. Meanwhile, Julia is preparing for another fashion show, having now added another red dress to her collection, which she says is meaningful to her as an evolution of her grandmother's old red dress. Her demonstration is a success.

One year later, in 2019, Julia now has her own small fashion house, and is celebrating her grand-uncle Giovanni's 85th birthday. The series concludes with Julia and her father Vincenzo sitting down under the oak tree in Olympiapark they planted back in 1982.

Timekeeper trilogy

Timekeeper

Aetas, an ancient god, once granted humans the power to control time. As retribution for this, he was supposedly killed by Chronos. Since the death of Aetas, humans have used clock towers to regulate the flow of time. Clock mechanics are valuable members of society, because a broken clock tower can cause time to flow abnormally or even stop.

In England in 1875, 17-year-old Danny Hart works as a mechanic. Danny suffers from panic attacks after being injured by a bomb planted in a clock tower. Additionally, his father Christopher has been trapped in time since a clock tower broke down in Maldon three years ago. Matthias, Danny’s mentor, was previously fired from the Maldon assignment and banished from the town after falling in love with Maldon's clock spirit.

Danny is summoned to repair the Colton Clock Tower in Enfield, where he meets clock’s spirit, also named Colton. Because Colton is unable to travel far from his tower, he repeatedly sabotages his own mechanisms in order to get Danny to come and repair them. They fall in love, although relationships between spirits and humans are forbidden.

A series of bombing attacks target clock towers around England. The lead mechanic pulls Danny from the Enfield post, citing concerns about Danny’s mental health. Several mechanics are injured or killed by bombs. Danny secretly trades assignments with Daphne, another mechanic, so he can continue visiting Colton in Enfield. Daphne is injured in an explosion, casting suspicion Danny. As a result, they are both fired.

Danny discovers that Matthias has secretly been living with Evaline, the clock spirit from Maldon. Evaline carried her own central cog outside the city so she could follow Matthias to London, unaware that this would cause the town of Maldon to become frozen in time. Colton’s central cog is stolen, which freezes Enfield. Danny realizes that Matthias is behind the bombings; Matthias hopes to install Evaline’s cog into another clock tower so that they can be together. Daphne, Danny, and Colton fight against Matthias. They retrieve Colton's cog and restore Enfield’s normal flow of time. Matthias is arrested and put on trial. Evaline returns to Maldon, freeing Danny’s father and the other trapped citizens. Danny is reinstated as a mechanic and permanently assigned to Enfield, where he continues his secret relationship with Colton.

The Worldwide Machine

After World War II, living in San Savino, a hamlet of Frontone in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, is Anteo Crocioni, a curious but unschooled young man who asks many questions about the origin of the world and living things, arriving at a conception that is both mechanistic and idealistic of what exists, which presupposes its creation by what he calls authorial automata. According to Anteo, if his theories were known in the world, steps would be taken toward friendship among peoples and universal peace. Instead, they leave his father, a small farmer who sees in his son a layabout and a dangerous protester (because of his inclinations toward communism) of the economic and social order represented by landowners, Christian Democracy and the Catholic Church, perplexed. However, it is with a young seminarian named Liborio that Anteo establishes a friendly relationship, finding in the boy a mind willing to listen and understand his worldview, though not to share it. Later Anteo meets Massimina, a girl from a neighboring village, and marries her.

To improve his economic condition he buys, in the wake of his fascination with mechanical means, several agricultural machines with which he starts a business as a contractor, despite the contrary opinion of his father and wife, who are reluctant to any idea of innovation. His work keeps him away from home for long periods, and when he returns he no longer finds Massimina there. He discovers that his wife, no longer determined to put up with his sudden outbursts, has moved to Rome to look for work as a housekeeper, counting on the support of the sizeable Marche community that has emigrated there. Anteo sells the cars and also travels to the capital, to bring his wife home while seizing the opportunity to show professors and students at the Sapienza University of Rome his theories and the treatise he is writing, which, however, do not meet with the slightest success with them.

After running out of money, he practices various trades to support himself, including cleaning lion cages in a circus and manages to track down Maximina thanks to a complaint for abandonment of the marital roof that he files against her. The young woman now works as a servant in a stately home and, to protect herself against her husband, sues him for battery. Anteo is thus forced by judicial authority to leave Rome and returns to San Savino to await trial. He finds Liberio, who in the meantime has been ordained a priest and appointed parish priest of Acquaviva, and helps him get settled in the rectory house. One day he meets by chance his wife, who has come to visit her places of origin; she does not deny herself the consummation of sexual intercourse with her husband but refuses to return home.

Several months later, Anteo learns from the newspapers that Massimina has secretly given birth to a child, conceived from the intercourse she had that day, leaving him to die for lack of care; the woman is then arrested for infanticide. Anteo then decides to end his existence by filling his house with explosives and blowing it up after locking himself inside.

As a gift for the child, Albertus Magnus creates a wonderful mirror which can show anything she desires if she says a rhyming chant. By the time Richilde is fifteen, she is an orphan and the new Countess. Her dying mother warned her to be virtuous and never use the mirror for frivolity, but Richilde grows curious about what others are saying about her and finally consults the mirror for the first time, asking it to show her "the fairest maid of Brabant's race." When it shows her own reflection, Richilde becomes arrogant.

With many noblemen vying for Richilde's hand in marriage, her governess tells her she has three days to choose one. Unable to decide, Richilde asks the mirror to show her the handsomest man in Brabant. It shows an image of a strange knight, and she falls instantly in love. However, to her disappointment, the man – Earl Gombald of Lowen – is already married. Rumors spread until Gombald hears about it. He has been contented in an arranged marriage to his cousin, but the rumors appeal to his own vanity. Wanting to pursue Richilde, he divorces his pregnant wife with the excuse that they are too closely related. He sends her to a nunnery, where she dies in childbirth. He arranges for the infant to be taken to one of his castles with servants and court dwarfs to attend her, but he is occupied with wooing Richilde, whom he soon marries. As time goes on, their marriage becomes troubled and Gombald eventually dies of the plague while on a pilgrimage.

Richilde observes the period of mourning, but enjoys the renewed attention of noblemen. She returns to the magic mirror to confirm that she's still the fairest, but is horrified when it shows a different woman: Gombald's daughter Blanca, now fifteen years old. Filled with rage and jealousy, Richilde calls for Sambul the Jewish court physician and orders him to poison one side of an apple or pomegranate. She then travels to Blanca's castle and has the apple served while sharing dinner with her. After Richilde leaves, Blanca falls ill and seemingly dies. The dwarfs create a coffin with a glass window so that Blanca can be seen inside, and she is interred in the castle's chapel.

Richilde begins consulting the mirror every day until suddenly Blanca reappears alive. Richilde orders Sambul to poison some soap, and sends her nurse dressed as a peddler to sell it to Blanca. As Richilde's evil worsens, the magic mirror rusts until it's unusable. When Blanca shows up alive again, Richilde has Sambul imprisoned and mutilated, and orders him to create a poisoned letter under pain of death. Unbeknownst to Richilde, Sambul is actually a righteous man who has been using non-lethal sleeping potions. Blanca opens the drugged letter, succumbs, and is placed in her coffin again.

The handsome young Gottfried of Ardenne, on his way back from a pilgrimage to Rome, passes by Blanca's castle and hears her story. He tries placing a healing relic over her heart at the exact moment she revives. They are already falling in love and he secretly moves her to his home in Ardenne. However, he is determined to have justice against Richilde. He travels to Brabant, where Richilde tries to seduce him. He plays along and proposes, asking her to come to Ardenne for the wedding. However, at the wedding he tells Richilde that he gave a dower to twelve virgins who were also supposed to be married that day, but one has been murdered out of jealousy by her own mother. When asked what punishment would suit this crime, Richilde says that the cruel mother should be forced to dance in red-hot iron shoes. Then Blanca appears, alive, dressed for her wedding. The horrified Richilde receives the same punishment she described and is then thrown into a dungeon. Blanca and Gottfried celebrate their marriage, and Sambul the physician is rewarded.

Draft:Sfârlează cu fofează

The Romanian country boy Toader Mindruta, becomes obsessed with flight after watching day after day a Polish passenger plane passing over his village.
The boy eventually builds an empyric glider using wood and cloth stolen from his parens’ house and makes an attempt to fly it, jumping from a nearby hill.
Unfortunately he crashes and gets badly injured, with almost every bone in his body broken.
The surgeon from the nearby city manages to mend him, using silver tubes and screws to fix his bones, and after a few months, the boy leaves the hospital, partially crippled and therefore unable to perform the hard chores on the field.
Under these circumstances, his father sends him to a nearby town, to work as a carpenter’s apprentice. Even there, the boy pursues his dream, building another glider from sheets of wood he appropriates from the workshop.
While testing the glider on the field, he witnesses a plane crash and befriends with the pilot who jumps off with the parachute. The pilot Ciocarlan advices the boy to go to the city of Iasi and join the military air force, but when he arrives there, Toader is rejected due to his medical condition.
Eventualy the boy Toader (who is now almost an adult) gets a job in the city of Galati, as a waiter in the airport restaurant. There he learns about a flight school in Bucharest. He manages to sneak in the luggage compartment of a commercial plane and stowaway to Bucharest. He is eventually discovered after landing, but at least he has the chance to meet people in the aviation branch and gets a job at the airport, helping the chief mechanic Costache (known as “Costache - God” because of his profound understanding of plane mechanics). There he learns about the inner workings of a plane and how to operate them. In time, he is allowed to perform minor chores like taking the planes out from the hangar to the airstrip and back.
Toader meets Spiru Corciov, an inventor who designed a revolutionary plane, but because of its totally unorthodox design (for instance the propellers are spinning in horizontal tubes that are housed inside the wings), his plans are rejected by the aerial commission.
Another failed inventor is Petre Duica. He conceived a revolutionary “two cylinder revolver engine”, who was rusting in his workshop for a couple years, also because of the lack of interest from the authorities.
Toader helps Corciov build the plane (named “The Swallow”) and fits there Petre Duica’s engine. However, since he is not allowed to fly the plane (because he does not have a flight licence) he steals it and hides it inside a barn on the city’s premises.
From there, he performs a series of unauthorized flights, provoking both the civilian and the military aviation to engage in the (unsuccessful) pursuit of the “ghost (or spy) plane”. The only one who manages to track him to his hiding place is a young lady (named “Merisor”) who used to know and appreciate Toader since he was working as a mechanic at the airport. Impressed by the skill and commitment of the young man, she decides to keep the secret and even hires him as her personal mechanic for her plane, painted gold and affectionally named "Te Doll".
During an aerial meeting, Merisor and her plane are reported lost somewhere in the mountains. Defying the risk of being identified and caught, Toader boards his plane and flies in the pursuit of Merisor, right in time for rescuing her. Merisor jumps off from her burning plane and hangs on to the Swallow’s landing gear. They head towards the airport, but since Merisor most likely would be hurt during the landing, Toader turns the plane upside down and lands it on its back.

Draft:Citadel of Broken Hearts

Andrea Carver and her friends plan a week-long getaway to her boyfriend Enzo Whitlock's beach house. While there, Andrea's friend Holly wakes up in the middle of the night, noticing that there is somebody outside. This prompts her to wake Andrea up, waking up their other friend Millie in the process. They search around with flashlights, but there does not appear to be anybody there. The next morning, Enzo arrives at the beach house with his mate Lucas to surprise Andrea. This causes the girls to develop a list of activities that they can all participate in.

The group decide to go surfing one morning. Holly spots a man on the rocks watching them, but he disappears before their eyes before they can get a better look at him. Getting the feeling that they are being watched, Millie and Lucas decide to watch the house that night, but both fall asleep while on guard. The following morning, the crew awake to find the door knocked off it's hinges, and the words ''You are not safe here, get out now!'' written in red paint on the wall. Andrea instructs everybody to pack up their gear, to which everybody willingly obliges.

En Route back to town, the group is stopped in the woods by a lone man, who instructs them to follow him if they want to live. At his home, Millie asks for his name, which he says is Salem Thatcher. He turns the lights on by flicking his hand, which intrigues them. Salem then tells them that they are all descended from members of the Daleton Coven, and therefore all have the ability to use magic. He demonstrates this claim by instructing them to channel their power to make an amulet glow, as only members or descendants of the Daleton Coven can make the amulet shine. While the others are successful, Holly is unable to produce any kind of power, which Salem claims is because she has too many conflicting thoughts. He also reveals that he was the person who wrote the message on the wall.

The group return to school for the new term. Salem arrives to pick them up one afternoon, which worries the group. He takes them to a secret training place that he has in the woods. He explains that they are being hunted by Nero Volkov, a magician who developed his own type of magic called Kal Di. He is also the only living Skinwalker, a breed of Navajo Witches who can turn into half-human, half-animal beasts. However, Volkov uses his magic to be able to fully transform into creatures. After this explanation, Holly points the open window, stating that Volkov could be listening. Salem shuts the window before instructing them to stay safe.

The group start training after school, under the supervision of Salem. Lucas struggles to perform certain magic due to his crush on Grace, his older sister's best friend, which is hindering his mind from focusing. Millie excels at the training, as do Andrea and Enzo. Salem belittles Holly for being unable to even complete the training exercise, as she still cannot make the amulet glow. This upsets Holly, causing her to stop coming to training sessions.

Holly decides to walk home from school one afternoon after being insulted and humiliated at school. She stops to pet a stray cat, forgetting Salem's warning to stay safe. The cat turns into a young man, who introduces himself as Nero. He tells Holly that the reason she cannot make the amulet glow is because her ancestors were from the Kalneida Coven, also known as Coven 139. Nero reveals that he is the last living original member of the Kalneida Coven, and is registered as Holly's legal guardian, due to him being friends with her late Parents. He offers to train Holly in using the magic of the Coven, and also to teach her Kal Di. She declines, stating that she will not join him. Nero tells her that she will join him eventually, telling her that her Aunt and Uncle, who Holly and her sister are living with after the death of their parents, will kick her out if they find out Holly's sexuality.

Enzo, Millie, and Andrea are invited to a party by one of their classmates, Casper. Holly also receives an invite, and decides to go because she has nothing better to do. However, Casper and his friends make fun of her, and shove her over. They are stopped by Nero, who breaks Casper's wrist after transforming from a cat to a human, as he has been hiding in animal form during the party. Millie takes Holly to her place, where she patches up Holly's bruises.

Salem is informed of Nero's intervention at the party by Enzo. Holly tells Salem the reason that she cannot make the amulet glow, and Salem produces an amulet belonging to the Kalneida Coven, which Holly makes glow with ease. Holly begins training with the others again, although she still struggles a bit. Salem insists she cut out all distractions, but takes things too far when he attacks Holly's sister and leaves her to die, although she is saved and confined to hospital. Holly finds out that the others knew that it was Salem who attacked her sister, despite them telling her that Nero is responsible. She vows to never forgive them, and is found crying in an Alley by Nero, who takes her home and gives her a note with his address.

Andrea, Carver, and Millie search in vain for Holly, while Nero trains her to use Kal Di. Holly suggests to Nero that they take a walk, and they witness a girl being beaten up, who Holly saves. Nero identifies the girl as Luna Hope, another descendant of the Kalneida Coven. He brings Luna to live with him, as her family has thrown her out, and later takes custody of Holly and her sister Iris after their Aunt and Uncle abuse them, due to him being their legal guardian. Holly and Luna start training together, and after a couple weeks, Holly realizes that she has feelings for Luna.

Andrea and Millie run into Holly and Luna at the mall, but avoid a confrontation. Later, Holly learns that Luna is being sent out to gather intel on Wendigos at the request of Nero. Holly bids her good luck. Before she leaves, Luna passionately kisses Holly, much to her surprise, stating 'I've dreamt of kissing these lips since the day we met'. This exchange is witnessed by Nero, who reveals that he suspected both of them would fall for each other. He then takes Holly to a citadel, where she carves her name into the bricks.

While surveying the neighborhood, Holly is confronted on a rooftop by Salem, who threatens her with a gun. Andrea, Enzo and Millie turn up and try to disarm him, but he easily subdues them. Lucas, who has been absent due to family reasons, shows up, managing to disarm Salem using magic. Nero appears, telling Andrea, Enzo, and Millie that they've been lied to. He exposes Salem, who has been funneling their power for himself, and also tells them that Salem is a Wendigo. Salem has been unable to funnel Lucas's power, as he has managed to hide his magic, and couldn't funnel Holly's magic as she was not a part of the Daleton Coven. Salem calls Nero a 'weak' person. Nero tells him that there's a large variety of words to describe him, such as 'psychopath', 'evil' and 'sociopath'. He admits to Salem that he thinks that Salem could have been a great magician, but he consider Wendigos a blight on this earth. Nero kills Salem, before fleeing with Holly. Andrea, Millie, Enzo and Lucas re-establish the Daleton Coven, accepting Nero and any of his acquaintances as their enemies.

Dauntless: The Battle of Midway

By June 1942, the Imperial Japanese Navy has met with spectacular success at the attack on Pearl Harbor and has swept across the Pacific, conquering vast areas. In an effort to change the course of the war, a United States Navy carrier group is positioned off the coast of Midway Atoll, the home of Naval Air Facility Midway Island. The task force plans on springing a trap on the enemy, and the ensuing Battle of Midway turns out to be a pivotal turning point of the Pacific war.

During the battle, a two-man Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber crew consisting of pilot Ensign Norman Vandivier (Jade Willey) and S1 (Radioman) Lee Keaney (John Enick) from the ''USS Enterprise'' aircraft carrier are in the first wave of dive bombers attacking and sinking a Japanese carrier. In their attempt to escape, their aircraft is struck by enemy fire from a Japanese surface ship. Losing fuel and forced to ditch, the crew look towards their comrades for rescue.

The "misfit" crew of a Consolidated PBY Catalina led by Lieutenant Bennett (Adam Peltier) are sent to search for survivors of the battle, including the downed Dauntless crew of Vandivier and Keaney. While the human drama on the ocean continues, Rear Admiral R.A. Spruance (Judd Nelson) confers with his top officers in planning for the second day of the battle, knowing that his aircraft must again attack a superior foe.

At the conclusion of the battle, the attacking US Navy aircraft are running low on fuel and desperate to find their carriers in the dark. Despite the opposition from his operations officer, Captain Jim Browning (C. Thomas Howell), Spruance orders all lights on the carrier Task Force 16 to be turned on, helping some of his aircraft to limp home.

Amid the vast Pacific with days passing and the chance of rescue fading, the two men in the ocean are forced to face their own mortality. At the end of the second day of the battle, Keaney finally succumbs to his injuries and hypothermia; Vandivier reluctantly pushes his crewmate away but ultimately Vandivier also succumbs to exposure.

When the Catalina flying boat takes up station again, Lieutenant Bennett and his crew locate a survivor in the water. After one of the crew swims out to bring the obviously exhausted Ensign Ramsay (Chris Roark) to the Catalina, Bennett is, however, distraught that he was unable to rescue his friend, Vandivier.

Finally, he has Jeff's friend, Buddy, deliver a box containing Jeff to the loading dock to get him into the mall after hours and to stash the loot. Pin (novel)

Leon and Ursula are siblings, growing up in a wealthy mansion with their parents. Their father is a stern, analytical and curious medical doctor, who often means well but can be eccentric, creepy and even at times frightening, which influences the children as they grow up. Their mother, neurotic, abusive and obsessed with cleaning and hygiene, is constantly scrubbing floors and keeping the house spotless. As a result, Leon and Ursula have very few friends and spend most of their childhood isolated, coming to rely on each other for companionship. One day, Ursula's best friend, a sexually-experienced schoolgirl, gives Ursula a copy of a pornographic magazine, which Ursula sneaks into one of the bedrooms at home. Leon discovers her with it, and the two children giggle at the magazine and explore it, only to be caught by their mother. Despite the children not having actually done anything sexual, the mere existence of the offending magazine causes their father to take an interest in the children's proper sexual education. To explain sex and gender to the children, he uses ventriloquism to get his medical anatomy mannequin, named "Pin" (short for "Pinocchio") to "speak" to the Leon and Ursula about "The Need" (a euphemism for sexual desire). Their father often uses Pin to entertain his other child patients during medical appointments so that they won't be frightened of doctors, a benign parlour trick, but while Ursula learns to recognize this as a trick, Leon does not. He fully believes that Pin is alive and speaking to him.

As the children grow up, Ursula becomes sexually promiscuous, earning her a reputation in high school as a slut, while Leon is neurotic about trying to protect her. Ursula is popular, and tries to get Leon, who is physically attractive but also weird and unpleasant, to date fellow girls whom she is friends with. Leon has little to no interest in dating, dances or other romantic pursuits. Ursula becomes pregnant in high school, and confides in Leon about it first. Leon believes that she should admit the pregnancy to their parents, which she does, only for her to then be brought into her father's medical office for a traumatic abortion. Not understanding the blatant inappropriateness of it, the father asks Leon if he wants to observe the abortion for educational reasons. Leon declines, but later comforts Ursula when she returns home. Ursula is bothered by Leon's insistence that Pin would have helped her to deal with the underage pregnancy; she has long-since stopped believing that Pin is alive, and she finds the whole thing silly. As Leon and Ursula reach adulthood, Leon misses Pin's "lectures"; their father has stopped using ventriloquism since he thinks his children are too old to find it amusing anymore. Leon begins to fill in as the ventriloquist for Pin, having lengthy conversations with the mannequin that are all in his own head, really. An accident kills the parents, leaving Leon and Ursula to inherit the mansion and the assets within it. This is exciting for the two adult siblings, who relish in finally having independence, but they can't quite figure out what to do with their newfound freedom, remaining isolated as ever. To make matters worse, much to Ursula's disgust, Leon "rescues" Pin and brings him home to live with them, dressing the mannequin up in a wig and a suit, causing it to eerily resemble their late father. Ursula keeps the house incessantly clean, a force of habit instilled in her by her mother, but she longs for a social life and wants Leon to get rid of Pin. Leon becomes a shut-in and spends most of his time in the house looking after Pin. His world becomes increasingly unhinged; at various points throughout the book, he confuses some people for others, sees things that aren't real, and his relationship with Pin becomes much more intense and even violent. To Ursula's horror, Leon also begins expressing latent incestuous feelings for her that she does not reciprocate. An ambiguous ending implies that she has destroyed Pin, which has psychologically fractured Leon's already unstable mind, leaving himself unclear as to whether or not he himself is Pin. Ursula still loves her brother but is tragically aware that he is mentally ill and probably always will be.

Come into My Cellar

Hugh Fortnum wakes up to the noises of his family and neighbour. He opens the window and greets his neighbour Mrs. Goodbody, intent in treating her bushes against bugs and pests, and convinced of being the first line of defence against flying saucers.

Hugh hears the doorbell and walks downstairs to find his wife Cynthia holding a Special Delivery package from New Orleans for their son Tom. The small package is from the Great Bayou Novelty Greenhouse, and contains ‘The Sylvan Glade Jumbo-Giant Guaranteed Growth Raise-Them-in-Your-Cellar-for-Big-Profit Mushrooms’. Tom goes down to the cellar and starts planting the mushrooms. As the advertisement says, they will show fabulous growth within only 24 hours.

Toward noon, Hugh Fortnum is driving to the market when he picks up his friend Roger Willis, a biology teacher. Roger is scared and tells Hugh about his intuitive belief that something is wrong with the world. Hugh asks Roger what to do about it, and Roger tells him to wait and observe the world for a few days. Roger leaves, and Hugh drives away.

Hugh sits on his porch with his wife and asks her if she has had any sort of intuition lately. She ponders the question and answers that she did not, when Tom appears, showing them the remarkable growth of the mushrooms he’s cultivating in the cellar. In just seven hours, hundreds of greyish brown mushrooms are sprouting from the soil. Cynthia feels uneasy, asks if what Tom is growing really are mushrooms and Tom leaves angrily for the cellar. The phone rings and it’s Dorothy, Roger Willis’ wife. She says that her husband is gone, and asks for Hugh’s help.

Hugh goes over to Roger and Dorothy Willis' house and sees that Roger’s clothes are gone. Dorothy and the son Joe are confused about the sudden disappearance of Roger. Before promising Dorothy that he will try to find Roger, Hugh sees Joe walking down to the cellar.

Hugh goes back home to find his neighbour, Mrs. Goodbody, fighting off aphids, waterbugs, woodworms, and now ''Marasmius oreades''. He explains to his wife about the disappearance of Roger Willis when a delivery boy brings him a telegram from Roger, saying that he is in New Orleans and that Hugh must refuse all Special Delivery packages at all costs. Hugh calls the police.

In the evening, the phone rings at the Fortnum’s house. It is Roger, saying he is on a business trip and asking Hugh why he sent the police to find him. He also tells Hugh that his wife and son knew about his trip, and that he will be back in five days. Roger passes the phone to an angry lieutenant, asking Hugh for explanations.

Hugh calls Dorothy, and she confirms that her son received, like all kids in the neighbourhood, a Special Delivery package a few days earlier, the same as Tom received in the morning. Watching a meteor in the sky, Hugh starts to suspect that something invaded Earth. He ponders that an alien invasion would not come by meteors or flying saucers, but by means of spores, seeds, pollens or viruses raining on Earth from space; and he thinks that a spore germinating into a mushroom would not need arms and legs to send itself around via Special Delivery, if it could be eaten by a person, infiltrate their blood and take over their cells. Just like what happened to Roger Willis, concludes Hugh, who became something else after eating the mushrooms grown by his son.

Cynthia goes to bed and Hugh pours himself a glass of milk. In the fridge, he finds a fresh-cut mushroom, left by Tom for his parents to eat after he himself had a mushroom sandwich. Hugh leaves the mushrooms at the bottom of the stairs leading upstairs. He calls to his son Tom who is down in the cellar tending his crop. Tom tells his dad to come down to see the harvest. Hugh goes down into the dark cellar, shutting the door behind him.

Draft:The Way I Used to Be

''The Way I Used to Be'' follows '''Eden McCrorey''', a teenager who is raped by her older brother’s best friend, Kevin. The novel is divided into four parts, with each part corresponding to a single year in high school—beginning with her freshman year immediately after she is raped and concluding with her senior year. Over that four-year period, the narrative shows the ways in which Eden is transformed—and damaged—by her traumatic experience.

The first part, “Freshman Year,” deals with the immediate aftermath of Eden’s sexual assault. A “band-geek” who is mocked by her peers, Eden forms the Lunch-Break Book Club with her friends Mara, Stephen, and Cameron so that they have an excuse to avoid bullies during their lunch period. At the end of Part 1, Edy’s personality begins to change: She is no longer the “good girl” she used to be. She smokes cigarettes, she quits band, she gets into arguments with her parents. Eden vows that in the year to come, she will not let anyone take advantage of her the way that Kevin did.

In the second part, “Sophomore Year,” Eden is approached by the popular senior Josh Miller during study hall. Eden acts aloof at first, but she eventually agrees to go on a date with Josh. Not long after, Eden and Josh are spending each night together, deepening their relationship even while Eden has difficulty expressing her feelings and being vulnerable around Josh. She refuses to be his girlfriend, even when Josh tells her that he wants to make their relationship official. Meanwhile, the little sister of Kevin, the boy that raped Eden, starts a rumor at school that Eden is a “slut,” writing slurs about Eden all over the bathroom walls. Soon, the entire school is talking about how promiscuous Eden is. On Eden’s birthday, Mara decorates Eden’s locker with a sign that says “Happy 15th birthday,” which reveals to Josh that Eden has been lying about her age. Angry and hurt, Josh confronts Eden and asks her if she would even care if he were arrested for statutory rape. Affecting a cold and hardened exterior, Eden says that she does not care about him, and they break-up. When Caelin, Eden’s older brother, catches wind of the fact that Eden had a relationship with Josh, he beats Josh up at a New Year’s Eve party. Eden is livid that Caelin did this, which further distances Eden and Caelin from each other. Eden’s relationship with her mother and father are strained, too.

Eden’s reputation as a “bad girl”—and, particularly, a promiscuous one—is solidified in the third part, “Junior Year.” Eden and Mara both experiment with drugs and alcohol, and the girls celebrate Mara’s 16th birthday in a playground drinking contraband beers at night, where they meet two stoner guys by the name of Troy and Alex. Troy and Alex introduce the girls to a new social scene, and they begin going to more and more parties together. At one such party, Eden discovers that, through casual sex, she is able to temporarily escape her troubles. Eden sleeps with Troy’s older brother, despite her knowing that Troy has a crush on her. Relations with Eden and her family become even worse; Eden fights with her parents on a daily basis.

By the time Eden is gearing up to graduate high school in the fourth part, “Senior Year,” her life is in a complete downward spiral. Eden does not care about going to college the following year, and the number of casual sexual encounters she has with strangers continues to increase. Alongside drugs and alcohol, sex is Eden’s primary means of escaping her trouble state. When Kevin is accused of rape by a girl in his dorm, a police investigation follows. Eden grapples with whether she should report him. She decides yes, but that she needs to tell Josh first. They meet at a 24-hour diner, where she tells Josh the entire story. Eden tells her brother Caelin next, who is devastated to learn that this happened to Eden. The novel closes with Eden reporting her own rape at the police station.

Through Eden’s story, ''The Way I Used to Be'' is a coming-of-age tale that explores themes surrounding the devastating consequences of sexual assault, particularly during the formative adolescent years. The book also investigates the social forces that lead to women’s silence, in general, around sexual violence.

Return to Haifa

The story starts with Saeed S. arriving in the city of Haifa after the Manpeldaum Gate opened. It brought an abundant amount of memories and feelings mixed together taking him and his wife, Safiyah, 20 years back, on the 21st of April 1948. It was the day they lost their son, Khuldoon, because of war that made situations difficult and horrible for them, causing them to leave forcefully by a British ship that took them to the city of Acre.

The novel narrates that on this date, there was an explosion in Haifa coming from Mount Carmel. Saeed S felt overwhelmed as he saw everything getting worse, from armies showing up, to more explosions happening, making it hard for him to navigate through. Safiya and he were on two opposite sides; as she rushed through the crowds of people to see him, she realised Khuldoon was still sleeping inside their house at Hallisa.

Calling out Khuldoon's name numerous times, there was no response. And after she saw Saeed S. from far, they both were on the verge of despair and tears, realising they lost their son. Since then, they tried all means of searching for him, from getting in touch with the Red Crescent, and sending friends to the area to help them look.

Haifa was the core of all these memories for both Saeed S. and Safiya. “This is Haifa”, as Saeed S. would say. Driving through, he was contemplating everything, and how the street names “never really tended to change”, and still read their names as King Faisal Street, Wadi NisNas, etc. They tended to speak about everything, except Khuldoon. However, a week before, in the city of Ramallah, Safiyah told Saeed S. how much she wanted to visit Haifa, “just to see it”, but Saeed found it useless. But at the same time, he knew what she was up for, as he internally wanted the same, despite telling himself that there was no hope; to see if their son is still alive.

While at Haifa, they visited their old house and contemplated the memories, old objects, and the bell that changed. A Jewish lady, Meryam, was the one there. After the day Saeed S and Safiyah went with the British ship, their house was given over to Meryam and her husband, Efrat Khoshen, and Meryam told them the story of Khuldoon, who became Dof, and how they adopted him from the Jewish Agency after a neighbour found him alone.

They stayed at the house late waiting for Dof (Khuldoon) to come, as he was supposed to give a decision on who he wanted to be with after Meryam tells him the story. He came home late at night; he was wearing his army suit, and after knowing everything, he didn't have any feelings toward his real parents. He said he is a Jew, and his parents were Jew, despite knowing that they aren't his real parents; and despite knowing that his parents were Arab, nothing changed for him.

He blamed Safiyah and Saeed because “they are the ones who left him, and could’ve searched for him instead of crying throughout these 20 years”. Saeed S, feeling shocked and angry, told Dof that he cannot use what he considers other people's fault to justify his own mistakes, as "two mistakes do not equate to correctness", and said to Meryem that she didn't tell him the truth by only pointing out that “his parents left him and went”, as the situation was horrible that day in order to only summarise it this way.

The story ends as Saeed realises how much he wanted to leave, that he and Safiyah “never found their son from the first place as this can’t be him”, and how much he owes his son Khalid into letting him go with the Fedayeen, and how much he appreciated him, and that he hopes he went on his own while his parents were away.

Ìrèké Oníbùdó

Like Fágúnwà's other novels, ''Ìrèké Oníbùdó'' takes the form of a story within a story. One day, the eponymous hero arrives at the unnamed narrator's house and asks him to write down the events of his life. It is revealed that the two met earlier in life when Ìrèké Oníbùdó was in the care of Adeorun, a spirit of heaven. Before beginning his life story, Ìrèké Oníbùdó tells the tale of Wrestler-cat, who led a life of violence and deception before finally being the victim of deceit himself. The story is intended to impart the lesson that one should be cautious when seeking revenge.

Ìrèké Oníbùdó then moves on to the main story of the novel. He tells of how both his parents died when he was younger, leaving him without any relatives or money. It is in this period that he met Adeorun and also crossed paths with the narrator. After leaving Adeorun, Ìrèké Oníbùdó breeds chickens and becomes successful man. However, when one of the wives of the farmer he lives with begins pursuing him, he is forced to leave.

He then begins his journey to a town called Backward People. On the way, his friend is killed by a one-eyed goblin. He first arrives at Irewesi, the city of the deads. The then advances on to Ero-ehin (Backward People). There he finds chaos, with people stealing, fighting, lying, cheating and killing one another. To escape, he swims out to a ship and boards it. During a storm, the ship capsizes and Ìrèké Oníbùdó is taken prisoner by the Gargantuan-mermaid, the queen of all fishes in the ocean. She gives him a series of impossible tasks but Ìrèké Oníbùdó's mother appears to him and with her help, he completes all the tasks. His mother and her heavenly troops then kill the Gargantuan-mermaid and the residents of the palace.

Ìrèké Oníbùdó then comes to a town called Alupayida that is being terrorised by a destructive flying python. The king's daughter, Ifepade, is being sacrificed that day in order to appease the creature. Ìrèké Oníbùdó fights the python, kills it and falls in love with Ifepade. He decides he would like to marry her and she and her parents accept his proposal. However, Ìrèké Oníbùdó's enemies spread rumours that he has been sleeping with the queens and the king orders for him to be beaten. Hearing nothing from Ifepade, whose letters are being intercepted, Ìrèké Oníbùdó then flees Alupayida. On learning that he has left the town, Ifepade goes in search of her fiancee. She writes and distributes pamphlets about him, which he eventually finds and which lead him to her. The king's guards find the pair and say they should return as the king's anger has dissipated. Back at the palace, Ifepade finds mean letters which Ìrèké Oníbùdó had written to her in his anger. He begs her to forgive him and she does. However, the following day she falls ill and dies soon after. Due to his grief, the king becomes physically and mentally unwell.

The king asks Ìrèké Oníbùdó to journey to the home of the famous herbalist Itanforiti in order to find a cure for his ailment, as well as acquire wisdom for the good of the town. Ìrèké Oníbùdó chooses two herbalists, Ero-okan and Kumofehinti, to come with him. On their way, they encounter, the Mountain of Tribuations, which moves forwards and backwards, as well as a town populated only by men (Gbayegborun) and another town populated only by women. They lose Kumofehinti, who is tempted by the music from heaven. Ìrèké Oníbùdó and Ero-okan find the entrance to Itanforiti's home and are welcomed by him. They pass several days there.

Itanforiti imparts several lessons. He warns against covetousness and pride and explains that love is the force that binds people together. For each lesson, he includes a tale to illustrate his point. The men set out to return to Alupayida. When they return, the king has died and the town has decided to make Ìrèké Oníbùdó their new king.

Ìrèké Oníbùdó tells the narrator that this is his seventh year on the throne and that three months ago, Adeorun returned to him and instructed him to pass on his life story. As soon as Ìrèké Oníbùdó finishes his story, he and his companions disappear.

The Strike (Westinghouse Studio One)

The play is set in North Korea in January 1951, after China intervened in the Korean War and forced the United Nations forces into retreat.

Part One

Major Gaylord (played by James Daly), a professional soldier who also served in World War II, commands the 29th Regiment, a 500-soldier infantry unit that is pinned down on a river bank after sustaining heavy casualties. They lack transportation to evacuate their wounded and have gaps in their perimeter and only three remaining machine guns. The regiment receives an order to retreat in three hours.

The previous day, Gaylord had deployed a platoon of 20 soldiers on a patrol to assess the enemy's strength and location. The patrol has failed to return. The lieutenant in charge of the missing patrol presses for a rescue mission. Gaylord declines to put more men at risk by crossing the river in pursuit of the missing patrol.

Part Two

A radio communication is received from the missing patrol, conveying their location and planned route of escape. However, the patrol's radio is not fully operational, and they cannot receive incoming communications.

Gaylord receives word that the Air Force will conduct an air strike with bombs and napalm on the enemy's artillery on the other side of the river to protect the regiment from attack during the retreat.

The proposed strike creates a dilemma as the lost patrol last reported its position in the same location as the proposed air strike. The air strike puts the lost patrol at risk, but failure to take out the enemy artillery puts all 500 men at risk.

Part Three

The time for the strike approaches, and Gaylord must decide whether to proceed. One of the other officers advises Gaylord to sacrifice the 20 to save the 500: "We're gonna have to cross them off ... 20 for 500 .. that's not a bad price." Gaylord refuses to accept the cold logic and arithmetic of sacrificing 20 to save 500. Gaylord wants to strip off his conscience and "inject something into my immortal soul to make me numb so that I'll quit feeling, so that I'll be a commanding officer instead of my brother's keeper."

A soldier from the lost patrol is spotted swimming across the river. He is shot and killed by enemy fire as he reaches the shore.

As the time for the strike gets closer, Gaylord breaks down, unable to give a command that will kill 20 men. Gaylord's subordinate officers urge him to take command.

Helicopters arrive to evacuate the injured, and the time for the strike has arrived. Gaylord decides to give the order: "These gold leaves give me the power of god. To give, take, and trade lives. Tonight, I'm trading ... lives ... 20 boys across the river for all of ours. That's a pretty fair numerical exchange ... Inside my gut I'm gonna ache from this second on. .... These are the responsibilities of command you don't read in the West Point manual."

The regiment moves out, and the strike proceeds as Gaylord and chaplain watch the bombs drop. Gaylord offers a final thought: "God rest their souls and God, forgive me." The chaplain assures Gaylord that God will do both.
