Family Sins

Gordon Williams and his wife, Kate Williams, are suburban Californian parents with two sons, Bryan and Keith. While Keith is more of a chipper, sporty extrovert who looks up to his father, Bryan is quiet, shy, nerdy and bookish, leaving him at odds with his father, who openly expresses favouritism towards Keith. Bryan looks up to Gordon as well, but has trouble expressing this; in the absence of his father's love, he finds solace in the praise of a kind-hearted male science teacher who stands up for him after he twists his ankle while playing baseball as the other players taunt him, including Keith, who is on the team. At home after losing the game, Bryan angrily tosses a baseball at Keith, who fails to catch the ball and then tattles on Bryan for "hitting" him. Bryan is punished without question. Keith openly berates Bryan for failing to win the baseball game, and mocks him for his failure to fit in with the family.

Bryan offers to take home the class pet, a rabbit, even without parental permission. He confides in Keith despite his better judgment, and the two brothers play with the rabbit while their parents are out at a restaurant. During a lightning storm, the rabbit gets loose, and the brothers frantically search the house, knocking over a decorative lamp and smashing it by mistake. Gordon and Kate are angry upon returning home and finding the house in a mess, and when Gordon inevitably discovers the rabbit in the house, Keith declares that Bryan forced him to keep it a secret. Gordon demands that Bryan take the rabbit back to his science teacher, which would be hugely embarrassing for him; he subsequently runs away from home but fails to get very far and returns home, only to discover that his parents have called the police. Gordon does not comfort Bryan, but instead shouts at him, hits him in the face and offers to help him pack a suitcase so he can live on the street. This causes Kate to stand up for Bryan, calming Gordon down, but Gordon still demands that he get rid of the rabbit. The next day, he returns home from work to find the rabbit slaughtered and buried in a shallow grave in the backyard. While Kate expresses horror that a gentle boy like Bryan would hurt a rabbit, suggesting he needs psychological help, Gordon brushes off the incident as a deliberate act of spite.

Hoping to bring the dysfunctional family together, Gordon and Kate rent a summer cottage on the lake, which bothers Bryan, who is afraid of water after a childhood accident in which he nearly drowned. As a result, Gordon takes Keith out alone on a canoe and Keith mocks Bryan for his inability to swim. Kate comforts Bryan and tries to convince him that his father still loves him but has trouble expressing it, which Bryan doubts, pointing out that his father has always been able to express love, pride and affection for Keith. Later that day, Gordon and Kate drive into town for supplies, leaving the two brothers at the cottage to play. Keith taunts Bryan about his fear of water, and Bryan runs out in the canoe, only for Keith to follow him. Keith mocks Bryan again about how he isn't good at anything, and a mischievous Bryan bets Keith that he can't swim for more than a few minutes straight. Keith tries to prove him wrong by swimming without a lifejacket, but he quickly grows tired and wants help getting back on the boat. As a joke, Bryan reaches his hands out but fails to pull Keith up as he splashes around. He pokes fun at Keith for being scared, unaware that Keith is not as good of a swimmer has he bragged about. When Gordon and Kate return to the cottage, they find that Bryan has rowed back to shore and called the police, and that Keith has drowned on the lake. Gordon sobs hysterically and hugs Keith's corpse, and the parents are made to take Bryan to a local sheriff's station for questioning. Bryan breaks down and admits to letting Keith die, and is kept in juvenile detention as a result. It is advised by Bryan's psychologist that the family partake in counselling, but Gordon refuses, furious with Bryan and concerned about what the neighbours will think when he realizes that Kate is telling people about the incident on the lake. Bryan is kept on house arrest until his court trial, and he tries to asphyxiate himself in the family car, only for Kate to rescue him.

It is decided that Bryan can return home for good only if his family gets the necessary counselling to deal with the incident. During the counselling sessions, Gordon admits to favouriting Keith over Bryan, an act that he now realizes was child abuse, and that his physical and mental treatment of Bryan had been abusive, as well. He also reveals that his own childhood upbringing was unpleasant and cruel, which may have influenced how he raised his two sons. When Bryan is finally allowed to return home, Gordon apologizes to Bryan outside the courthouse for the way he treated him, and while awkward, this newfound interaction with his father causes Bryan to smile.

He was unlucky to have a father who has no responsibility, no feelings and a cold heart for his own children. In his life, Núi experienced many infidelities. But the most memorable person, who also made him suffer the most, is Mây (Kim Oanh).

Initially an obedient and intelligent child, however, his father's violence and the hustle and bustle of life gradually turn Núi into a skilled wanderer. However, because he always carried in his heart the desire to return to his salary, he decided to "''wash his hands and hang his sword''" to go to Bắc Giang for business.

On the bus to Bắc Giang, fate let him meet Mây. Being the same gypsy, Mây and Núi easily "catch the wave" together. Later, the two moved to live in the same house without getting married. Once an older brother, but even though he was angry many times, Núi still had to suffer because of his wife's sour and sharp personality and way of speaking. Especially since Mây was pregnant, Núi spoiled her even more. If the Mây - Núi love story had a happy ending, then the waves in the river bottom would not create such a big resonance. However, the filmmakers wanted to "act" Núi. After "Scarred" Hưng (Hữu Tuấn) - Mây's ex-lover is released from prison, she leaves her husband for a son.

Half a year later, when Núi was about to marry Hồng (Như Hiền) - a gentle woman, all her hopes for a happy life were crushed by Mây. He used their own child to force the Núi back to him. The clouds are too much, but once back, Núi still accepts to put all the old things in the past to wholeheartedly be with his wife and children. But "''river or mountain is volatile, so nature is difficult to move''", after a while Mây left her family to pursue her old love "Scarred" Hưng (Hữu Tuấn).

Witnessing that the child was less than a year old and abandoned by his mother, Núi hugged him to Bắc Giang to find Mây. Along the way, father and son had to sleep on the beach, sleep in the dust, experience many hardships. However, all those hardships and hardships only turned into a cruel sentence from Mây : "''If you don't feed him and give her to me, I will sell her''". After that day, Núi had to return to Hải Phòng to live with a rooster raising the chicks. A difficult life caused him to "''get used to the old ways''". But in the end, after experiencing life's many storms, he still finds himself alone. At the end, Núi accepts to remove the stone in his heart to forgive his dead father. At the company party, Olli causes aggravation and they try to keep him out of Paavola's way. However, the men meet again each other. In the following days, Olli begins to behave in a completely new, liberated way: he escapes from Tuomola's hands and also rejects the attempts of his colleague Ronkainen (Paavo Piskonen) and the ambitious secretary, economist Tuula Korkeamäki (Tarja-Tuulikki Tarsala), to get him to return to work. Instead, he meets Anneli (Saara Pakkasvirta), an uncomplicated woman who works as a bartender, in a middle-class beer bar and starts living with her. One day, Olli finds a landlord in Anneli's apartment (Markku Blomqvist), who for half a year has been waiting in vain for the rent payment "in nature".

Olli and Anneli plan to run away together, but while applying for a final account from the company, Olli is arrested and sent to treatment; Anneli waits for him in vain. Paavola and Korkeamäki plot together against Tuomola and the man is transferred to early retirement after 30 years of service. Olli runs away from the hospital, buys himself a pair of clothes from a department store, refusing to pay for them; he also refuses to pay in the tram, throws the driver out and starts driving the trolley at high speed on his own. While staying at home, Olli learns that the psychiatrist Veijalainen (Jukka Sipilä) who treated him is now mentally ill himself and that his classmates from Buffalo have also lost their minds.

Olli returns to the management of the company and celebrates in a restaurant with his wife (Maija Karhi), Paavola and Korkeamäki. At the bar, he meets Anneli, who first teases the man and then goes on another runaway trip with him. At the railway station, they meet Tuomola, who says that he is traveling to the forest and begins to give a working-class monologue about freedom and the possibilities of people's power to passers-by at the station square. In the station tunnel, they follow the antics of the youth: one boy kicks the other's bum, and Anneli says that it is her own son, whom she was not allowed to raise.

In the morning, Olli and Anneli hitchhike along the country roads and get a ride to Kotka. They go to the ship, where Anneli meets her old friends and colleagues. However, Olli immediately begins to rationalize and manage the sailors' work. There is no togetherness, Olli returns to land and gets into the black car waiting at the pier.

Fate/Grand Order: Final Singularity-Grand Temple of Time: Solomon

As Ritsuka and Mash Rayshift to the Singularity, they both see a vision of someone speaking of how they cannot bear the endless suffering of humanity, which they are subjected to due to their clairvoyance exposing them to all the horrors of the past and future. They decide that the only way to rectify the repulsive state of the world is to destroy humanity, and that to achieve this, everything must be redone and perfected from the beginning, from true nothingness. Their plan is to recreate the planet from its very origin, which requires the massive amount energy generated by incinerating all life across 3000 years.

Waking up from the vision, Ritsuka and Mash find they have arrived at Time Temple. Leonardo da Vinci reports a Beast is detected throughout the entire space. Lev Lainur Flauros appears before them, commending Chaldea for getting past the Seventh Singularity while simultaneously expressing surprise and disgust at their persistent survival. When questioned if he had intended to destroy Chaldea and humanity from the very beginning, Lev reveals that he has been serving Solomon for 3000 years: Demon Gods were implanted in mage lineages until they were awakened at their appointed era under their own Grand Order. He was designated to 2016 A.D., and when he awoke as the last Demon God, humanity was incinerated. In turn, Da Vinci reveals that Chaldea survived because Romani Archaman spent a decade preparing for the Incineration of Humanity that he envisioned in a dream, despite not knowing who to trust until Da Vinci's summoning. Lev Lainur had intended to kill Romani with the Control Room explosion, but that plan was thwarted thanks to Ritsuka's accidental intervention.

Unconcerned, as Solomon's final calculations are due to be complete in a matter of hours, Lev transforms into Flauros to stop Ritsuka and Mash from reaching the Throne. The pair kill him, but he is immediately reborn, mocking them as Chaldea is attacked by eight other Demon Gods. The entire space is revealed to be made of Demon Gods, and Flauros asserts that, "As long as the Throne exists, there will always be seventy-two Demon Gods." However, he is thwarted in his next attempt to kill Ritsuka by the sudden arrival of Jeanne d'Arc, who heralds the autonomous summoning of many Heroic Spirits to the Time Temple through their connection with Ritsuka. She rallies the Servants to clear a path to the Throne and they begin to defend Chaldea and engage the Demon Gods, killing the Pillars as endlessly as they can regenerate.

As the Servants aiding Chaldea continue defeating the Demon Gods, Baal asks Solomon to activate Ars Almadel Salomonis to incinerate the Heroic Spirits. Solomon assesses that they would keep returning as long as Ritsuka exists, reflecting the Demon Gods' own immortality as long as Solomon himself exists, and thus they only need to kill Ritsuka.

After conquering the seven terminals protecting Solomon's Throne, Chaldea learn of an eighth terminal and are uncertain how to proceed as the Heroic Spirits who aided Ritsuka and Mash with the previous terminals were connected to the Seven Singularities. They prepare to fight alone, but then Servants from the minor Singularities and Singularity candidates arrive to help them defeat Andromalius and the Demon Gods administrating the Trash Heap.

With the Demon Gods' activity diminished by their constant fighting with the Heroic Spirits, a path opens to the Throne. As Ritsuka and Mash hurry towards the location, Romani reasons that Solomon cannot be a fake, as the Time Temple was created from Solomon's Magic Circuits, and instead deduces something inside Solomon's body is controlling his corpse. After resurrecting his corpse, "Solomon" implanted the Demon Gods in preparation for the Incineration of Humanity. Afterwards, he created the Time Temple, which exists outside time and space, and waited there until the year 2016.

Upon arriving at his throne, "Solomon" announces to Ritsuka and Mash that the final calculations for the First Virtual Noble Phantasm, Ars Nova, are nearly complete. He explains he possesses three Noble Phantasms: the First is Ars Nova, and the Second is the Temple itself, Ars Paulina. The Third is Ars Almadel Salomonis, the light bands in the sky that were created from the energy gathered from incinerating humanity when he fractured history with his Singularities. "Solomon" needs it all to achieve the "ultimate position" and conquer death itself if humans will not. He then fights Ritsuka and Mash, intending to kill the last Master of Humanity as they are the anchor for the Heroic Spirits. Eventually Mash notices a strange reading on his Spirit Origin, and Ritsuka sees that one of his rings differs from the others. Impressed, "Solomon" decides to reveals his true form. As Demon Gods cover the throne, he identifies himself as a Beast of Calamity, the first familiar created by Solomon that served as the foundation for human magecraft. He had ruled alongside Solomon and continued to exist as a primordial curse after Solomon's death, taking took control of Solomon's corpse and incarnating himself through a summoning spell. With his true form unveiled, he identifies himself as Goetia, the Human Order Incineration Ritual and King of Demon Gods, and Beast I.

Goetia declares his plan to travel back to the genesis of the planet and absorb all of its energy to create a new planet without death. The purpose of the Incineration of Humanity was for gathering 3000 years worth of magical energy to accomplish this feat. Ritsuka and Mash attempt to defeat him before he can activate Ars Almadel Salomonis but they are too late. Goetia offers to let Mash join him, believing she would understand his views on death since she was created with a limited lifespan. Mash rejects due to her experiences with Ritsuka, so Goetia launches Ars Almadel Salomis. Mash protects Ritsuka with Lord Camelot, but the heat of Goetia's Noble Phantasm vaporizes her, leaving only her shield.

Goetia prepares to launch his Noble Phantasm again when Romani suddenly arrives. Romani removes his glove to reveal Solomon's tenth ring, which had been sent into the future by Solomon. Marisbury Animusphere had used it as catalyst to summon Solomon in the Holy Grail War of 2004. Romani explains that Solomon's wish on the Grail had been to become human, however, he had foreseen the Incineration of Humanity just as all of his power left him. Romani then manifests as his original self, the true Solomon, having abandoned his wish. Goetia attacks him in fury, but Solomon, with all of his rings present, activates the true Ars Nova. This sacrifices his existence as a Heroic Spirit to remove Goetia's immortality. Before disappearing, Solomon reveals Goetia was originally a spell created to watch over humanity, but Goetia turned away from that duty after seeing humanity's suffering and atrocities. Goetia again attempts to kill Ritsuka to remove the Heroic Spirits, intending to activate Ars Almadel Salomonis before the union of the Demon Gods that comprise him completely collapses.

With Solomon's sacrifice, the Time Temple begins to collapse, and the Demon Gods are thrown into disarray: they either self-destruct, are destroyed by the Heroic Spirits, change side, or flee. Goetia's body begins to crumble away due to Ars Nova destroying the Demon Gods' union. Even when only three Demon Gods remain, he refuses to admit defeat and continues trying to kill Ritsuka. Ritsuka retaliates by protecting themself with Mash's shield and seemingly destroys Goetia with a punch empowered by a Command Spell. They try to hurry back to the Rayshift point but are stopped by Goetia in a human form made from all that remains of the Demon Gods. Now understanding human mentality with his newly gained mortality, Goetia tries to kill Ritsuka to protect his pride. After Ritsuka defeats him, Goetia disappears contently. Ritsuka continues on their way, but the path beneath them collapses before they reach the Rayshift point. However, a revived Mash arrives and saves Ritsuka, and the two returned to Chaledea to celebrate their victory.

Doña Faustina (short story)

The story is told in six sections. The setting is an unnamed small town in Mexico “before the radio” was invented, i.e., before the early 20th Century.

Section 1: Doña Faustina, a local widow in her middle-aged prime, purchases an inn—now derelict after a new highway route strands it from out-of-town traffic. Doña Faustina’s younger sister Carlota and two elderly servants, José and Elena, reside with her. A vast acreage surrounds the former inn, once cultivated but now reclaimed by an almost impenetrable semi-tropical jungle. The local townspeople are mystified as to why the woman would purchase the useless property. Idle rumors abound, among them that the inn has been converted to a bordello; that the sisters were harboring a notorious bandit; that a drug ring operated on the premises; that the sisters were luring vulnerable travelers to the old inn, robbing and murdering them: all these rumors collapse upon examination. The community is divided: Dona Faustina is deemed either a penniless lunatic or a crafty eccentric hoarding a fortune.

Section 2: When a local child disappears, Doña Faustina is suspected of abduction, and the police are sent to search her residence. Despite the proprietor’s hostility, the authorities discover that the home's interior is in shambles, furniture shattered, and decaying food and refuse on the floor. These conditions reinforce the impression that Doña Faustina is pitifully deranged. Locals report the older and younger sisters embarking on mysterious trips to far-flung cities and returning with bundles of goods.

Section 3: The servant José, while searching a “zapotes" on a remote and densely vegetated region on the property, discovers an earthen water tank built for cattle in the estate's heyday and hears a big splash he suspects is caused by some creature. Troubled and intrigued, he returns during subsequent months to solve the mystery. He soon discovers that a man-made path has been cleared from the tank to the old garden at the inn. While walking, he encounters Doña Faustina carrying a covered basket. She fiercely orders Jose back to the house. Jose confides in his wife that Dona Faustina is utterly mad.

Section 4: On a cold and foggy night, a knock is heard on the inn's door. Doña Faustina and Carlota, suspicious, decline to open it. Satisfied that it is not the police, they retire to their respective bedrooms. When Doña Faustina enters her room, she discovers a strange young man standing next to her bed. He immediately subdues her and binds her wrists. The intruder searches the room for money but finds none. He rapes her. Afterward, Doña Faustina makes an offering to the man, encouraging him to ingest the contents of a small packet, “soft and slightly wet.” Doña Faustina assures him that the gift will empower him, and he eats the proffered object. She praises him, and he departs from the house.

Section 5: To Carlota’s dismay, Doña Faustina announces that she is with child, declaring that her offspring will have “the power of thirty-seven.” She cancels all further excursions during her pregnancy. The newborn, a boy, is healthy and strong, “a real little bull” according to the servant Elena. Jose (accent) suspects that the father is the Devil. Months pass and Jose uncovers the source of the splash at the water tank is a giant crocodile. Outraged that such a beast resides unmolested on the property, he reports his discovery to Doña Faustina. She reacts with hostility and denials. Frightened that her husband will be dismissed, Elena attempts to discredit his report. Jose is confined to his quarters because he is delusional, but Dona Faustina is troubled by her servants' inconvenient discovery.

Section 6: Dona Faustina, concerned that the police may be summoned, departs the inn with her sister and infant son and flees to the provincial capital. She applies for and receives an appointment as a police matron based on her strong physique and character. The local police are led to a water tank and discover not one but two crocodiles. The disappearance of dozens of children during the past several years is initially attributed to these creatures. Further investigation of Doña Faustina's home reveals young children's bloody garments. The police concluded that body parts were harvested from the victims. Dona Faustina reads of the discoveries and is complacent that her whereabouts will not be discovered.

Fifteen years have passed. Doña Faustina’s son Jesus Maria grows to manhood and is mentored by the Chief of Police. He joins the Mexican army and is soon promoted to colonel. He successfully captures the notorious bandito Fermin Figueros and his gang - the “thirty-seven” his mother had predicted. Rather than execute them as expected, Jesus Maria frees them. He is demoted but exults in this rebellious behavior: “the only time he had ever known how it feels to have power.”

The Frozen Fields (short story)

The story is written from a Limited-Omniscient point-of-view, with the six-year-old Donald serving as the focal character.

The six-year-old Donald accompanies his mother and father, residents of New York City, to a family Christmas gathering at the home of his maternal grandparents in rural New England. The boy’s father, Owen, is a harsh authoritarian critic of his son, and, in private, is physically abusive towards both Donald and his mother. The boy harbors rebellious thoughts, but fears provoking his father’s wrath and copes by becoming detached emotionally. The extended family is aware of the situation, but loath to interfere.

They arrive at the farm on Christmas eve for a supper attended by maternal Uncle Willis and Uncle Greg, who is married to Aunt Emilie. Donald’s aunt and uncles treat the boy with affection, the only child at the event. Uncle Ivor and Aunt Louisa, Owen’s sister, are expected to arrive Christmas morning, accompanied by Ivor’s employer, the well-to-do Mr. Gordon. Ivor is Mr. Gordon’s live-in male nurse and presumably his lover. Aunt Louisa lives at a separate residence provided by Mr. Gordon by mutual agreement. The men are rumored to indulge in alcohol and prescription drugs recreationally. The uncles express disapproval of what is considered scandalous arrangement, but Aunt Emilie defends the menage-a-trois. Donald’s parents register dismay and indignation, and the boy is put to bed early to shield him from further discussions of the taboo topic. Donald has a waking dream of a wolf who arrives at the farmhouse and seizes his father by the throat, dragging the corpse into the forest.

Aunt Louisa and Uncle Ivor arrive with Mr. Gordon on Christmas morning. Donald, feeling detached from the affair, recognizes a kindred spirit in Mr. Gordon, himself an outsider at the family event. The Christmas tree is raised and gifts are exchanged. The presents from the rural New Englanders reflect their frugality. When Uncle Ivor, dressed as Santa Claus, distributes the presents brought by Mr. Gordon, the company is astonished at his largess: a fur coat and an ornate wristwatch for a delighted Aunt Emilie, and a dozen or so very expensive toys for secretly pleased Donald. The boy’s mother feigns appreciation for the gifts but is secretly offended. The father remarks: “It’s bad business for a kid to get so much.” Donald’s parents forbid him to play with his toys. Mr. Gordon remarks quietly: “It’s sinister.”

When Owen insists that Donald accompany him on a walk in the frigid cold for exercise, his sister Louisa, who has been celebrating the holiday with a large glass of brandy, begs him to reconsider: “Can’t you make an exception for Christmas?” A shouting match ensues between the siblings with Louisa, to Donald’s consternation, defending him against his father’s cruelties. Owen retaliates by alluding disparagingly to the relationship between Ivor and Mr. Gordon, and Louisa’s acquiescence in the arrangement. Donald’s mother stalks out of the room in shame. Her husband follows his wife upstairs, and Donald imagines him slapping and kicking his mother.

Uncle Ivor invites Donald to join him in the barn to collect chicken eggs. There he gently probes “is your father mean to your mother?” Donald’s father bursts into the barn, enraged that his son is conferring with Uncle Ivor, and escorts the boy to a secluded area of the farm. There he berates his son and demands that the boy accurately strike a tree trunk with a snowball. When Donald openly defies his father “for the first time” the enraged Owen smashes a handful of snow into face, then marches him back to the farm house. The engaged father retreats upstairs.

Aunt Louisa, Uncle Ivor and Mr. Gordon take their leave from the flawed festivities. When Donald’s mother prompts her son to thank them for the gifts, Mr. Gordon expresses sympathy for the boy: “He reminds me of myself when I was his age…sort of quiet and shy...”

After their departure, the father joins the company for supper and makes no further contact with his son. That night, Donald dreams of a visit by an affectionate wolf, who joins him in the forest, and they run together across the frozen fields.

Necromancy Cottage, Or, The Black Art of Gnawing On Bones

Casey Harris, a fifteen-year-old girl, runs away from home to escape her divorced parents and sexually-abusive stepfather after her older sister, Grace Harris, is killed in a car crash. Boarding a ferry to the mysterious Clover Isle (which she found in an old library book), Casey quickly befriends Scott McDonald, a boy who runs the island's lone operating business (a diner), and also Holly Nemov, a Ukrainian expatriate and errand boy who is apprenticed to Desmond Trauer, a German-American necromancer living in a cottage kept running by black magic. Casey is taken in by Desmond immediately, and soon decides to live there until her own life is sorted out. Holly warns her against this, and Casey is forcibly bound to Clover Isle by Desmond, who possesses Holly to perform a sealing ritual on the beach. On Halloween (coincidentally also Holly's 16th birthday, which he has no interest in celebrating), Casey joins Scott and his sister Celia in a variety of satanic rituals and a bizarre, dangerous game in which they all skate on sea ice frozen up in the sky. Casey learns that Holly's family is dead, and that they had moved to the ghost town Kadykchan Village in Russia after developing cancer and severe ailments from the Chernobyl Disaster. Holly is being pursued by a "Black Dog" that wants to control him by harvesting his organs in a ritual sacrifice, which Holly evades by hiding on Clover Isle.

Casey discovers that Holly is killing tourists (unwillingly, under Desmond's control) and dumping the corpses in an abandoned swimming pool. With the help of a witch, Aisling St. Clair, who lives in a deserted motel on Clover Isle, Casey and Holly aim to stop Desmond, but he stabs Holly, nearly chokes Celia to death, and becomes mentally unhinged, leading Casey to defeat him by invoking her own latent celestial magic. Desmond, reduced in power and a shell of his former self, makes amends with Holly, and Casey, Holly, Scott and Celia return to the mainland, booking a hotel room next to a spacious shopping mall. The four characters fail to adapt to the normalcy of the mainland; Celia hoards food, Scott eats all the food, Holly becomes increasingly self-destructive and more paranoid, and Casey is left trying to blend in without being seen by police and by Dana Harris (her kind-hearted stepmother). She finds Holly acting more darkly and making disturbing comments, referring to himself as an "organ donor - unwillingly" for the "Black Dog" and stabbing himself with a cake knife. Casey learns that she can use her celestial magic to read minds, and in Holly's mind, she finds his past too horrific to investigate. Casey talks to the ghost of her sister, and rents an apartment for herself and her friends. She also grapples with the reality that her stepfather raped her multiple times, and Holly promises to kill the stepfather if he ever tracks her down. She learns that Holly is a sea demon (resurrected after a drowning accident in childhood) who will eventually be initiated and will probably live a short life as a result. In spite of this, she falls in love with him and has him vow his soul to her. Knowing that their future together will be limited, they move to a lighthouse on another island called Seabiscuit Cove.

Tower of Fantasy

In 2316 humanity discovered the habitable extraterrestrial planet Aida and, faced with dwindling resources and a collapsing environment on Earth, sent a colony spacecraft on a more than 200 year interstellar journey to establish a human colony on the planet. In 2653 the comet Mara is discovered and within it a vast reserve of a potent energy called Omnium. To capture the comet and harness this energy the Tower of Fantasy is built, but just 5 years after it's completion an explosion of Omnium energy irradiates Aida and devastates human civilization on the planet. Some of humanity survives thanks to 'suppressors' developed to counteract the radiation, and the scientific organization Hykros is formed to enable humanity to adapt and further utilize Omnium. Opposed to Hykros is a shadowy organization that goes by the name of the Heirs of Aida, which views Omnium as a source of misery and evil and fights against Hykros to end Omnium research. Robin is refused the dress by Rowena, but she decides to steal it from the old lady, wearing it to her own upcoming prom in the hopes of impressing her boyfriend. Despite the dress being a rather conservative, high-necked Victorian piece that is out of style, Robin feels drawn to it by some inexplicable force. Robin is unaware that the dress was taken from the deceased corpse of a girl in a funeral home, and while dancing, she begins to sweat profusely, becoming dizzy due to acute effects caused by the formaldehyde dousing the dress. She falls and crushes her feet, meaning that she may never dance again, which will cause her to lose a coveted scholarship to college. The dress is revealed to be cursed by its original wearer. A nurse named Felicia, examining Robin, is drawn to the prom dress, and later smuggles it away and tries to wear it herself, hoping to impress her boyfriend Mark, a divinity student. The dress has the opposite effect of evoking piety, instead causing Felicia to feel bizarrely like the dress is getting tighter and making her look slutty. She steals some jewellery without even realizing that she has done it, and realizes that the dress is making her lose her piety. The dress then goes to Nicole, a high school student and super-achiever on the school's academic decathlon team; Nicole believes herself to look homely and nerdy, and trying on the prom dress makes her feel beautiful. She hopes to sexually attract her adult decathlon coach, lecherous Steve Waring, at a team reception party, which ultimately leads to tragedy as well when an Einstein bust falls on her head and knocks her unconscious. Robin's little sister, Gabrielle, eventually discovers the dress to have been manufactured by a cruel woman who has designed it to make the wearer lose everything they ever loved, thus cursing any person who tries it on. Rowena had been trying to hide the dress from future owners by storing it at her house after she spilled acid on her own sister's face in a feud over the dress, disfiguring her for life. The dress is taken by an antiques dealer who hopes to sell it, which will ultimately keep the curse going.

Draft:In Godfather's Movie (Short 2012)

The film begins with Matei, who wakes up on a field outside the city, hungover after a night spent with Iulia. A phone call reminds him that he is late for a filming day. Iulia, a young woman with Hollywood ambitions, is constantly trying to convince him to introduce her to the producer of the film. As a condition for being kept in the cast, the film's assistant director sends Matei to the Republic of Moldova to bring Andrei, an actor whose presence on the set of filming is absolutely necessary. Matei takes Iulia as his companion to the Moldavian border. Arriving at the Romanian frontier with no passports, the two are allowed to pass the border in exchange of a bribery that ensures them the return.

After entering the Republic of Moldova, Matei is accused by the frontier officers for illegally crossing the border, transporting drugs and trafficking in human beings. Meanwhile, he is consistently receiving phone calls from the assistant director, who puts pressure on him to return as soon as possible with the actor from Moldova. Andrei, on the other side, is tired of waiting and decides to drive to the border. The only person who seems undisturbed by the situation is Iulia, who is experiencing the effects of the drugs she ingested earlier. Iulia contributes even more to the accumulation of the suspicions, due to her continuously euphoric condition.

Finally, Andrei comes and due to his celebrity, the three are allowed to leave. Returning to the Romanian border, the characters are surprised to find out that another shift has taken control of the customs. A new episode of absurd comedy and new interrogations start. The moment Andrei mentions that the crew is waiting for them on the set of a film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the head of customs reaches the maximum level of skepticism. Finally, he even asks them to call director Coppola in order to be convinced that the two are telling the truth. Matei calls Coppola and to his surprise, he takes the call. The head of customs took advantage of the situation and offered Coppola, over the phone, his own interpretation of an excerpt from ''The Godfather''. Coppola is not impressed by his performance and, before turning off his phone, states that he is in a room full of actors and does not know who is missing. The film ends with the confusion of the three, while the head of customs asks Iulia to stay with him to find together a "solution" that could lead to their release.

Winter wind (novel)

The novel begins on Friday morning, - which is market day - where Abed bin Al-Qadi prepares to go to the market with his son Abdul Qadir. He stands near the house contemplating his lands and the flock of sheep led by the shepherd Rabih, and on his mind is something that disturbs his peace of mind. That is because there were rumors circulating since the issuance of the decisions related to self-management regarding agrarian reform, and then an idea occurred to him that gave him pleasure when he looked from the outside into his daughter Nafisa's room, the content of which was summed up in the marriage of his daughter to the owner of the Sheikh of the municipality who was nationalizing the lands, at that time Nafeesa was inside her room, suffering from tightness and a feeling of weariness. She said I was about to explode, I will almost explode in this desert, then adds, "All the students rejoice in their holidays, but I spend my holidays in exile." Suddenly Nafisa calms down from the state of turmoil when she hears the sound of sad melodies that were played by the shepherd Rabah. She rejoices, and nothing comes out of that except the voice of the old woman Rahma calling for her brother Abdul Qadir from afar, announcing her coming, to go with Khaira - a precious mother - to the cemetery. I would like to see the world, I suffocate in this prison.” A few days later, the village celebrates the inauguration of a cemetery for the sons of the martyrs who fell during the war of liberation. Abed bin Al-Qadi receives the people of the village in his house, wishing to influence Malik and reconnect their old ties. Malik was the preacher of Zulekha - daughter of Abed bin Al-Qadi - who was martyred during the revolution. When Malik and his companions from the Mujahideen prepared a mine that was supposed to target a military train, it mistakenly targeted a civilian train, Zulaikha was one of its passengers, which aroused the wrath of the son of Judge Fawzi with the group to the occupation forces. This affected Malik's soul and he started to evade him, and on this day, the day of the celebration, Abed bin Al-Qadi Malik calls to see his wife Khayra, so he accepts her invitation, and when he enters the room, as soon as his eyes fall on Nafisa, he becomes stunned by what he saw, that she is very similar to her sister.

Abed bin Al-Qadi seeks to spread the news of Malik's engagement to his daughter, Nafisa, despite Malik's reservation. Khayra announces this good news to her daughter, and she strongly refuses because she does not want to stay in the village, and she also does not want to marry someone who is older than her and whom she does not know well. When the father insists on his decision and fails to stop him, she asks her aunt who lives in Algeria to write a letter to her, asking Rabeh to carry her to the central village and put it in the mail. Rabeh admires her because she spoke to him kindly, and thought she liked him, so he decided to visit her at night, and indeed he does, and when she suddenly finds him in front of her bed, she pushes him and curses him: “Get out of here, criminal! You filthy shepherd, you filthy shepherd.” He bowed his head sadly, and that painful word kept resounding in his hearing, “You filthy shepherd,” and from that day he decided to leave herding and work as lumberjacks. Days pass and the father is still determined to marry off his daughter to Malik, so she thinks for a long time about a solution to her problem. She thinks about claiming insanity and then committing suicide. Finally, she chooses a final solution, which is “escape.” As the women go to the cemetery, she goes out disguised as her father's prince so that no one knows her, so she heads to the station via a forested road, and remains and is bitten by a snake, so she faints. Because she doesn't want to go back to "my father's house, I will never go back to her", but the news spreads in the village and her father knows, and he resolves to slaughter a winner, so he goes to his house, and attacks him with force, wielding "Mousa Al-Busa'adi", and Rabeh's forces collapse. She pushed Nafisa out of the house and starts screaming. The people came terrified, and Nafisa headed back to her father's house, after her attempt to escape failed.

The main character is 12 year old Milo Pine. He is the adopted son of inn owners. He lives in Nagspeake, a city, which is known as "smugglers town". Milo lives in the "Greenglass House", which is a huge, dilapidated house. Actions take place during the Christmas holidays. The inn is usually empty at this time, so Milo hopes to get some rest. However, suddenly on the very first night, one after another, five guests are settled in the hotel. Milo believes that the appearance of each of them is not accidental, and their appearance is somehow connected with the Greenglass House itself. Milo is also puzzled by his finding - a fragment of a nautical chart. At one point, Milo meets Maddie, the cook's youngest daughter. The boy befriends Maddie, and together they start a detective role-playing game, the purpose of which is to find out where this map leads, as well as learn more about the guests. They found out that one of the guests enters the rooms of other guests. At first, nothing is lost, but then three guests were robbed at once, and later another guest suffered from the hands of a thief.

Milo's investigation eventually leads him to the conclusion that one of the guests, named De Cary Vinge, is a customs agent. A little later, while telling stories, Vinge confirms this and takes hostage all the guests and Milo's parents. He wants to find the last treasure of Michael "Doc Holystone" Witcher, the famous and now deceased smuggler who formerly owned the house. Milo himself, along with Maddie, manage to escape to the attic, where they lock themselves. Milo suddenly realizes that Maddie is actually a ghost and her real name is Addie Witcher, and she is a daughter of Doc Holystone. Maddie confirms this and reveals that 34 years ago, a young De Cary Vinge was chasing her father, but the latter stumbled and fell off a cliff. Eddie heard this from Vinge himself and leaned forward a little to better hear his speech, but also could not keep her balance and, ultimately, fell and died. Afterwards, Milo and Maddie finally found out where her father hid the last treasure. After a failed attempt to stealthily sneak in on Mr. Vinge, Milo makes a deal - he will show where the treasure is, and Vinge will release the hostages. Vinge agrees and Milo points to a crystal chandelier in the shape of a ship.

It turned out that Holystone's last treasure was a role-playing game figurine that Maddy told Milo about at the beginning of the book, and which they played throughout the novel. Michael brought a figurine for his daughter Eddie. Vinge demands that Milo hand over the figurine, but Milo resists. Then Vinge decides to threaten Milo with a gun. Maddie decides that enough is enough and intimidates Vinge to the point where he first shoots Addie and then runs away in terror. The hostages were released, Milo gave the figurine to Maddie, who introduced herself to all the guests. Also, on another inspection of the chandelier, it turned out that Holystone also hid a sketch of a stained-glass window, which depicted the smuggler himself. Later, the sketch is taken by one of the guests to the university for study.

After the situation was resolved, all the guests left, and only Milo with his family and Maddie remained in the Greenglass House. The latter, saying that now Milo wants to be with his family, says goodbye to Milo and disappears. Milo returns to the house, celebrates Christmas with his parents, and goes to bed.

Tommy asks Jouko about his mother and Jouko tell him that her sister Maria was on the side of the lynx. Tommy makes friends with Leevi at the Ranua Zoo and hears from the zoo employee Jaska (Rauno Ahonen) that it will be sold to a Turkish zoo. Tommy tries to prevent the deal from happening, but he is chased away from the meeting between the zoo manager (Mikko Kivinen) and Tommy's father. However, the manager agrees to one more test, but if the lynx does not learn to prey, it will be sold.

Leevi fails the predation test. When Olli is ready to give up on the lynx, Tommy gets furious. He hides in a truck carrying Leevi. When Jaska stops the car because of a run-over fox, Tommy releases Leevi. The young conservationist Oula (Jussi Puhakka) calls Tom out of the forest and prevents him from feeding the lynx, because then the animal won't learn to hunt on its own. Leevi gets trapped in a cage equipped with a radio signal at some point, but Tommy tries to save it from trouble. When Olli and his entourage arrive, Tommy has managed to move the lynx's cage away. With the help of the log raft left by Oula, the boy crosses the river and frees Leevi again.

In winter, Olli still tries to catch a lynx, without success. After this, Herman Haapala (Jarmo Mäkinen), known as a local animal stuffer, plans to go hunting for lynx. Oula tells Tommy that Leevi has no chance when Haapala starts chasing. Tommy learns that Jouko has paid his debt to Haapala by killing the lynx that Tommy's late mother tried to take care of, which makes Tommy angry with his uncle. When the lynx kills Jouko's geese and Haapala forces Jouko into the lynx hunting, Jouko locks Tommy in the barn. However, repentant Jouko's mind changes after going hunting with Haapala on snowmobiles, which makes Haapala angry and continue his journey alone. Meanwhile, Tommy manages to break out of the barn and jumps on skis until Oula takes him on the snowmobile.

The boys find Leevi, who is caught in a trap and is trying to free himself. Oula goes to get help while Tommy stays with Leevi. Soon Haapala arrives and is about to shoot Leevi, but Tommy stands in front of him and attacks the man. Haapala shakes the boy off, saying the lynx is hurt. When he approaches the lynx with a gun, Leevi attacks at the last moment to break free from the trap and both fall down into the ravine. Tommy finds a badly damaged Haapala at the bottom of the gorge. Tommy tries to drag the unaware Haapala out of the forest on a sled, but the slow progress leads to the darkening of the night and increasing frost. The lynx that appeared on the scene guides Tommy with his sled to the deserted cabin. At the same time, a border guard helicopter is searching for them with a thermal camera. Eventually, a search party finds them.

After recovering, Tommy meets Jouko, who apologizes for killing the lynx protected by the boy's mother. Tommy hugs Jouko as a sign of forgiveness, and Jouko tells Tommy to take care of the lynx found in the barn so that it can be released back into the wild.
